TW pet death
(Not one of mine, don't worry. You won't miss anything if you skip this post.)
I will always and forever be a collar and tags person (or, look, if you are really concerned about strangulation then a harness & tags person or a breakaway collar or whatever). Microchips are great, all my beasts are microchiped, but if one of them gets out I want to be able to find them and bring them home no matter what has happened to them.
Two years ago, almost exactly I think, friends and I were three miles into a beautiful autumn hike with the dogs. The leaves were turning, the wildlife was active, and there was a crisp breeze. We rounded a corner and immediately saw a body floating out on the lake, a dog, its long black fur drifting back and forth in the small waves. After some deliberation on what to do, and if it was safe, I waded out to the dog while the others in the party held our dogs way back from the lake in case the water was bad. He wasn't that far out really, but it felt like it took forever to get there because I was fervently hoping he'd have tags. I could actually feel the relief wash over me when I got there and saw patches of blue collar peeking out between the drifting fur.
I towed him into the shallows by the collar. I'm the most familiar with bodies, which is why I was the one who went out to him, and I know that they age differently in the water but by my judgment he'd died farily recently - less than a day ago. When he's in close enough to shore that I don't think he'll drift away any time soon, I unclip his collar and return to the group. We sit down and strategize for a few minutes. How do you make a call like that without raising their hopes? (Answer: you can't - just the phone ringing will be enough).
"I'm very sorry," I say, "but I found a dog in the lake and I thought you would want to know." She tells me she was half expecting a call like this, that the gate didn't latch correctly and both dogs got out but only one came home. She tells me that they were so worried he wouldn't be able to find his way home in the storm last night. She tells me he was very old, that his mind had been going for awhile now. She tells me that most of his life, until the last few years as his body became less able to manage the walk, they would come down to a beach near here and that he loved to swim. She tells me she hopes he at least got to relive those memories for a bit before he went.
I give her the coordinates, it's not too far from a road if you bushwhack - certainly less than the 3mi we did, and tell her we'll bring him to shore. I pick him up out of the shallows, he feels frail, yet he's so so heavy from the weight of the water in his fur. He's much smaller than Nova, yet lifting Nova has never felt like that. I lay him gently on the rocky beach in what I hope is a natural looking, less-traumatizing-to-the-kids position. I clip his collar back on, with the fur no longer drifting around in the water obscuring it, you can now see the little tag saying "Poochie" on the front. We head back the way we came. That was walk enough for all of us, it would feel wrong to seek a different ending, and it was an out and back trail anyway.
Ever since then, every dead cat or dog I see reminds me of those lakeside discussions. We are all overly dedicated animal people, we're fully aware of microchips and all of our own pets are microchiped, but carrying a waterlogged body 3mi to the car to drive it to the vet's office was just not feasible - I don't think it would occur to most people that that was even an option. Even if they did think of it, most people would be opposed to putting a dead animal in their vehicle. I'm just gonna make it easy on people and put my phone number on my animals.
(Sorry, that post was so much longer than it needed to be, but my brain must have recorded that experience in a different kind of memory than usual because it is so so clear and comes all as a set like that so that's what you got too)
TLDR: OP found a dead dog once and has big feelings about it. Put collars/etc. on your pets

I love the idea of fantasy!bakugou who takes his s/o out in a forest. 🥹
Heavy boots crush fallen leaves, twigs snap and break as he takes the lead. Making sure nothing happens or comes in touch with you. Fingers interlocking with yours so that you’re close to him.
“Katsuki we’re dirty! We can’t go back and your parents see us, me, like this!” You grumble, worried about making a wrong impression so early into the arranged marriage.
“You worry too much! They don’t care if we come back lookin’ like this! As long as we’re not bloody and bruised, you’ll be alright.” Katsuki huffs as he continues to walk. He feels your eyes bore holes into his skull, but ignores it. He likes to see you frustrated.
“I’m being serious kat! You’re used to being dirty I’m not!” You yanked your hand away as you crossed your arms. His gaze turned to look at you with sharp eyes, annoyed at the fact that your touch wasn’t on him anyone.
“Shitty women, then whaddaya’ wanna do?? You wanna go take a fuckin’ bath in a lake or something?” He growled as he walked closer to you, his large figure looming over you. You smiled as he scowled, eyebrow jumping at the question.
“Y’know that doesn’t sound bad.. can we?” You replied coolly as you looked around, obvious that the river wasn’t going to just pop out of nowhere.
“No, stop being dramatic.” He said flat as he pulled your hand back into his.
“Hey I’m being serious! Let’s go swimming!”
“You’re being ridiculous! We don’t have time for that shit!”
“We’re not doing anything today except this!” He cursed something under his breath, head throwing back as he looked at the sky.
“Fine! Fuck fine! If you find a lake, we’ll swim. Now go find one sweetheart.” He said with an irritated grin, knowing that there was no lake close by.
“Fine! Watch me.” You said as you held your head up high.
30 minutes passed and you finally heard water rushing and crashing into some rocks, your eyes widened at the beautiful sight of green patchy grass and various flowers with different color rocks. Some having little black and pink crystals lodged deep inside the hard stones.
“Katsuki I’m stripping!” You said with a laugh as your shirt fell to the ground.
“Might as well, I’ll kill anyone who comes near though.” Katsuki took off his large leather boots with a thud, his lingering eyes looking at you with heavy lids.
Your body was created by the gods, he thought as he took you in. Each curve and dip, every little mark and scar. Handcrafted by the gods themselves.
“So’ fuckin pretty.” He rasped as he watched you slip in the water, your laugh flowing like a melody as the water crashed into the rocks, small fishes danced around you as you continued to swim further down the stream.
“Ay! Don’t go too far! The current is gonna get you!” Katsuki’s heart skipped several beats as he saw how the water watched you up cleanly. Skin smooth and glowing in the hot sun.
“Katsuki hurry up!” You called out as your head went below the surface, then coming back up a second later, your mouth parted slightly as in gasping air.
“I’m right here. Quit going ahead of me.” His hand met your hips as he pulled you against him. His heart rate speeding up at the feeling of your bare skin against his.
“Sorry, I can’t help it! I need to see everything.” You smiled up as him with a gentle grin. Katsuki lowered himself as his lips met your forehead.
“Let’s go then.”

Beach day filler episode
Thinking about my au thing and if they went to the beach. Who's here:
Scott, Hank, Remi, Kurt, Kevin, Piotr, Wade, Logan, Forge, and Johnathan. The ACTUAL Wolverine.
Jean, Ororo, Rouge, Laura, Ellie, Yukio, Jubilee, Gabby, and Mary puppins. The dog.
As a treat, They all loaded up and went to the beach, infact they actually rented it for the day. Didn't know you could rent a beach, could you? Well, you can, actually. Esspecially when you're the fucking Xmen.
The very first thing that happened when they arrived was Scott playing daddy and forcing everyone to put on sunscreen. (But forgot himself)
Despite Wade pointing out that literally all of his skin is cancerous anyway, Logan slathered him with it, borderline wrestling him to put it on but turns out sunscreen is very slippery and when your opponet keeps getting wrestle-boners (as he called them) he too ended up with a lot of sunscreen on him too.
Hank then brought up the fact that he couldn't really put on sunscreen because.. well... he has fur. This was followed by Kurt arguing that he wasn't putting sunscreen in his fur either. "Uhm... well.. I suppose you have a point." So both the blue boys got away with not having any.
Here's some things that are happening:
Storm, Jean, and Mary puppins are relaxing while lying back on the beach, talking about how silly the younger ones are being and gossiping about their husbands.
Remi is hunting for seashells for Rouge.
Kurt caught a tadpole and held it in his hands for a bit to tease the girls with it. Wade, being the curious little thing that he is, looked at it too and waved it off when they let it go, frowning.
"Aww! Why'd you have to let him go? That was my friend!"
"Zometimes zhe best zhing you can do for a fwiend iz wet zhem go."
"....Im starting to notice a pattern of speech on this team."
"Vhat?"
"Exactly."
Hank asked, "Are you sure this water is sanitary?" In which he was laughed at but reassured it was "much cleaner than the swamp I grew up in" by Remi, who did end up finding some shells for his chere.
At some point during the day, Forge brought people drinks, coming to the girls first with a "Ladies. Godess." Towards Ororo, who couldn't help but roll her eyes fondly as Jubilee giggled. She loved a good romance story.
Yukio announced that she was building a sand castle and approximately 5 grown men joined her. Guess which ones. It was massive. Like- prize worthy good. They even all took a picture with it. Its going above the fire place at home.
Sometime between things, Logan started grilling, telling a whiney Wade, kevin and Kurt that No. He was NOT going swimming with them and they all know better then to ask.
You won't believe who's the one who actually got him to sit a foot in the water, near the shore.
Now, Colossus and Morph (who is using his powers to also be Colossus to match his height) is playing "Water chicken" with Jubilee and Rouge. Next, after that was Ororo and Jean and then a mix of everyone else who wanted to play.
Ellie and Laura talked about how cringy the adults were being. "Esspecially my father."
"Which one?"
"Huh? Oh, right. Both of them.... Wade is not my dad."
"That's valid."
Gabby challenged Kurt to a hand stand contest, and he lost on purose so she could win, parading her around on his shoulders to Logan, who high fived her and then told her to go attack Wade, who was starting to sit by himself and stare at the waves with a look in his eyes that he didn't like. "No, not like that! I meant - damn it, Gabby!! I meant jump on him or something not stab him in the eye!"
This is when Jean giggles and says. "Kids, am I right?" And Logan lets out a huge sigh. "Tell me about it."
For some reason, Johnanthan really is interested in Mary Puppins. "He's probably just trying to figure out if she's a rat a dog or some kind of secret third option."
"Oh well. Puppins is fixed, so im not worried about it- but I swear if you hurt her! You'll be a hat!"
For most of the day, despite everything, Scott (for once in his damn life) seemed relaxed. He was so relaxed that he got a massive sunburn after falling asleep with "LASIK" written on his lower back like a tramp stamp. The only thing that could be done by someone who purposly applied sunscreen to him in this way.
Still, 3 days later, no one will fess up or admit to it, but Logan has a certain smirk whenever he passes him in the hall.
You honestly would just label this "The Wolverine's family and the Summer's go to the beach" because that's bassically what happened. Other than all of this and all the blood left on the beach, They all had a blast. Except for Scott, of course. I'll give you one hint.
Don't fuck with redheads.

Warning -> comfort, SFW - sick fic! (reader is sick: aches and pains, sore throat, general sick descriptions | reader passes out | reader is carried | reader is taken to an unfamiliar location and wakes up a bit disoriented but is safe | Childe: reader is threatened but unharmed, fingers get cut off of random person)
Includes: Childe, Diluc, Thoma
Character X GN Reader | Anthology
Your skin was burning. You breathed and the air felt like fire as it passed across your chapped, dry lips. Someone called your name and you turned, lifted yourself from a hunched position to look only for the action to make your head swim.
You smiled anyway.
"Hello, how can I help you?" The patron near the counter slid something toward you. What was it? You blinked and realized there were several items in a basket. You swore they multiplied as you pulled them out one by one. The transaction was the slowest you'd completed in your life but it wasn't the last as several more people stepped in line. You felt a bead of sweat run down your spine.
You smiled and greeted them.
--
Your head throbbed. Parts of your body you rarely thought about ached, cried out in pain as you rose from the chair.
Finally, you could go home. Could rest.
Unsteady, the world teetering as you made your way toward the door, you caught your breath near the entrance only to realize you'd left your bag and the shop key in the back office.
Coughing, you tried to clear your throat and push through the waves of disorientation as you meandered back down the hall. You labored in the doorway with ragged breaths trying to remember what you went back here for. Pressing your forehead against the trembling and clammy hand that held onto the door frame, you tried to focus.
"What did I ..." you mumbled, scanning the room. A flash of flickering light from outside caught your attention. Pushing forward you grabbed the key and made your way to the front door.
The outside air felt as refreshing as drinking a cold glass of water on a hot day. You gasped at the way it caressed your skin, at the way it soaked into the mist that speckled your brow, that clung to the edges of your hairline. You breathed deeply, welcoming the strain of your lungs before an inevitable cough tore you from the reprieve. You crumbled, caught your breath, then, with multiple uncoordinated attempts, locked the front door.
It was hard to concentrate, but you let your muscle memory carry you through the streets. You did your best to smile and keep a safe distance from those you passed, though most people didn't seem to notice you, even when you staggered and caught yourself on a beam for support.
I just have to get home, you told yourself. Eyes blurry, head swirling and disorganized. The stack of crates next to you served as a useful crutch. You did your best to catch your quickening breaths against them. All you wanted to do was sleep.
You made it through the day like this, what was a few more minutes?
A surge of strength rose in you as you pushed away from the pile of crates but as soon as you took a step your legs crumbled and you fell into a heap at the edge of the street. Your hands burned from the violent contact of the sharp, frozen ground. Puffs of steam exploded from your mouth as you struggled to take in as much air as you exhaled.
You swore you heard your name but when you turned your head to look, the world went dark.
--
Childe
His smile faded as soon as they left his office. The click of the door was the switch he needed to flip the mask he was so good at wearing. Just like he had learned - like a good boy.
He wiped his face with the palm of his hand and rose from his chair. At least they gave him a window - though perhaps it was more of a tease than a gift. A reminder that he was trapped in a room with suffocating walls. Like a caged animal, whose only desire was to feel the soil beneath their feet.
He hated when they made him do this work. Even if it was a pain, he'd rather be out in the field training new recruits than sitting in this stifling room signing off on peoples debts they'd never repay.
Childe sighed and leaned against the window. He scanned the passersby, hoping, wishing one of them would give him an excuse to leave this cramped office. Though, it was unlikely - Liyue rarely had anything fun. He missed the days before the Archon fell. At least then he had toys to play with.
A knock rattled his thoughts, "We've got three more for you, sir."
"Tell them to come back tomorrow," Childe called without looking at the massive and decorated door.
"I'll be sending in the next one shortly," they replied, clearly ignoring him. He rolled his eyes and looked back down to the street. In the corner, just out of view, he saw someone stumble through a back alley. He would have passed it off as a drunk if there wasn't an air of familiarity to the figure.
Childe pinched his brow as drifting voices spilled in from the hall.
He turned to head back at his desk but gave one last look to the alleyway and saw a small group taking the same path the stumbling person just walked.
"Childe will see you now," the voice said as they opened the door to Childe's office, head bowed and eyes closed as their arm escorted them inside.
"Um - who will?"
The voice snapped their eyes open to see an empty office with an open window and billowing curtains. "damn-it", they cursed and ran down the hallway.
-
Childe stayed in the shadows. Curiosity leading the way as he stalked the group. Further down the alley something crashed onto the stone ground but he had a hard time making out what it was. The group turned a corner and he could hear their voices echo off the tight buildings. He leapt onto a nearby walk-way hoping to get a good view of whatever was about to happen below, but when he saw who they were stalking their way toward, he finally understood why his body leapt out the window on its own.
Rage filled him as he launched forward so he could land between your gasping body and the oncoming group.
"What did I tell you guys? Easy pickins -- woah!" The group raised their hands as a wave of water splashed against them. They all stumbled, but one fell to the ground. "What the-"
"I suggest you leave."
"Huh?!" The one in the middle stepped forward, clothes soaked, hands fumbling for a knife. "T-this was ours first. So b-back off," he tried to puff out his chest but looked more like a drenched toad than anything to be frightened of. It would have made Childe laugh it he weren't currently seething, and if he hadn't looked back to see you shaking, terrified as you barely held yourself off the ground.
"If you're looking for a fight, I'll happily provide you one," Childe threatened, his blades appearing in his hands and sending out a high pitch whine as they danced in his grip, "See I've been cooped up all day and could really use a good workout."
"H-hey man, let's just go," one of them quivered, grabbing the 'leaders' arm.
"No, this is ours - we need thi-" the leaders voice died out as a slash of water cut through the fingers that had managed to grip his feeble knife in the first place. The man screamed, doubled over while his friends held onto his shoulders to keep him from falling to the ground.
"I must not have heard you correct. Because, I'm pretty sure you just called something of mine, yours?" Childe took a step toward them, his body raging, his blades growing at the thought of them calling you theirs. "So, I'm going to give you another chance to repeat yourself."
The group scurried like rats down the drenched alleyway and though he was half-temped to chase after them, to teach them a lesson, he barely made it a step when something burning grabbed his pant leg.
In an instant, his blades faded into nothing and he turned to scoop you into his still trembling arms. You were on fire, and even though he could tell you had near to no strength, you still managed to wrap your arms around his neck and hide against him.
With a possessive hand cupping the back of your head, he held you close and made his way to where he knew you'd be safe.
--
You could finally breathe without a protest from your lungs. Only a few areas ached instead of everywhere, and though you were still warm, you felt surrounded by cool waters.
Shifting, you tried to sit up, to open your eyes, but something covered your eyes and you fell back into satin.
"Sleep," a voice told you. It felt stern, but warm. Your tried to push the darkness away but found it hard, even when you curled your fingers around the palm of someone's hand. "You're still sick. So go back to bed."
"Where -- where am I?" you croaked, your voice dry and scratchy.
"You're safe." The voice felt so familiar. You breathed and though your nose was stuffy, you caught a whiff of something that made you turn your head toward the dip in the bed.
"... Childe? What's happening?"
"Don't worry your head over it. You're alright, that's all that matters."
You listened to his voice, felt his palm against your skin, sensed his presence next to you. You weren't sure how you got here, honestly you weren't sure where you even were, but Childe was here - he was right here and, as you moved closer to him and let your forehead press against his side, you felt safer than you ever had in all your life.
--
Childe turned his head from the book in his hands to glance at the sleeping figure next to him. It was the first time he'd ever seen you so relaxed, so at ease. The first time you'd ever been this near to him - the first time you'd ever been in his bed.
Carefully, he ran his fingers over your ear and let them know the taste of your skin while you slept.
He sighed and wondered how he was ever going to let you go now.
--
Diluc
The cold air reminded him another season was passing, changing. He'd stopped trying to measure the passage of time years ago, but there was something about cold, night air that felt like a ticking clock. Or maybe it was the reliable pocket watch he kept with him while he worked to help him tell when he could 'respectfully' request everyone leave so he could do more, important, work.
"Master Diluc," Charles said as he slid a heavy wooden box onto the back counter, "I think we've got another in the back."
"Great," Diluc held back a sigh but not the heavy roll of his eyes, and stashed the cup he had just pulled down for a customer. "Finish this up. I'll deal with it."
"Sounds good. What can I getcha?" he asked the drunk patron who didn't seem bothered to repeat their order to the new, friendlier, bartender.
Diluc reached for his jacket as he passed the back office. His hair snagged the coarse fabric as he pulled it from underneath. He adjusted the collar before opening the door to the back alley.
He hated dealing with drunks in the first place, but a sick one throwing up behind his establishment was somehow worse.
Scanning the immediate area didn't reveal anything to him. So he took another step into the chilly evening. Off in the distance, near the stairs that lead to the small docks on the lake, he saw a silhouette hunched over a stack of crates. Ones he had just assisted in unloading earlier that day.
"Hey, don't make it other people's problem if you can't hold your ---" Diluc froze when he saw the blob of dark shadows turn into your shape and likeness. He blinked, thinking he had made it up, but as he drew closer he knew his eyes didn't lie. Normally, you would have waved to him, called out to him - brightened his day - but right now you looked terrible. When he called to you, you didn't answer.
His pace quickened when he saw you stumble away from the crates and he was practically running when you fell to the ground. He let out a breath when he was just in time to catch your head before it careened into the cobblestone.
"... are you ok--?" Diluc turned you toward him but he didn't need to feel your brow to know you were burning up. He could see it in your pained expression, in the moisture of the night as it drifted toward him. When he realized you didn't have anything on you, he took actions into his own hands. "Hold on."
Diluc hoisted you into his arms, made sure you rolled into him as he carried you swiftly back toward the bar. With every groan and whimper he became more concerned. His muscles tensed when your fingers weakly grasped his clothes. Even though it made you whine, he held you closer to him and picked up the pace.
There were only a few sounds in this world that made his heart stop.
He took no time carrying you up the stairs to the third-floor apartment he used on nights he didn't want to make the long walk back to the Winery. As he passed by the confused, and rightfully worried Charles, word was already on its way to the church to bring a healer.
--
You were so hot. Your back hurt to the point you wished someone would rip it from you. Every breath was agonizing but you couldn't convince yourself to stop breathing.
You felt somewhere between dead and alive, and though you didn't understand it, you found yourself in a bed you didn't recognize, in a room you'd never been in before.
The shapes came and went. A halo of light bloomed in the corner. You coughed, pulled back the sheets but froze when a figure now stood where the halo once was.
"Who --"
"Don't get up," a voice, a familiar voice said. The figure moved closer to you. You tried to lift your hands in defense but they were weak and in your uncoordinated move, you slipped from the sheets. "I got you," the voice comforted you. Gentle words that floated into your ear. Something sturdy and wrapped around your stomach.
The figure, which smelled like barrels of sweetened fruit, carefully helped you back into the bed. Strands of red filled your senses and brushed against your cheek. Kind fingers caressed your jaw as they slipped to the back of your neck and eased you onto your back.
"Try to rest. I've called on a healer." The figure spoke, their deep voice like the rustle of leaves in the morning sun. "You're safe. I've got you," they said like a mantra as their fingers soothed your weary eyes closed. "I've got you."
The warmth of their touch against your skin was soothing, but suddenly it was gone and you cried out, reached out your hand to find it again. "Don't go," you pleaded.
Their touch returned to your fingertips, then your palm as they took your shaking hand in theirs. "I'm right here," the voice soothed and let you hold your captured treasure close to your parted lips.
You found it strange that your sickness would concoct such a vivid and realistic specter in the shape of the man who held your heart.
--
Thoma
"Hah, not a problem," Thoma waved them off for the third time. "It really wasn't that difficult. So don't worry about it." He took another step back and let out a playful laugh even as the person bowed for the tenth time in front of him.
Eventually, after many more reassurances, he managed to be on his way and - surprisingly - was only ten minutes behind schedule. With speed, and restraining himself to only courteous waves and passing smiles, he hastily walked down the busy Inzuma streets. To save himself more time, he dipped into a less traveled alleyway and doubled his pace.
It wasn't uncommon to see random and sometimes unsightly scenes in the back alleys. Inazuma was safe, but it wasn't immune to crime. So, as he spied a figure hunched over a stack of crates, he debated if the person looked like they did, or didn't, belong there. When he got closer, he started to recognize bits a pieces of the blurry figure.
"What are you doing back here?" he asked, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips and growing with each second. When you didn't answer him, and he saw you stumble away from the crates and fall to the ground, his joy shifted to fear.
He swore he'd never run so fast in his life.
When you didn't answer him, or react to your name, he wasted no time in lifting you from the dirty, cold ground and into his arms. He wasn't far from the estate, but he also wasn't close. Normally you had a bag - one he remembered because you'd purchased it with him the last time the two of you went to the markets - but right now you were empty handed. Something was clearly wrong.
With you in his arms, Thoma rushed through the alley. His heart raced at the sound of your labored breathing, at the way your face scrunched with every jostle of his movements, at the trembling hand that gripped his clothes.
"Hold on," he soothed, "Just hold on." Thoma burst through the alley and ran through the crowded streets toward the Kamisato Estate.
--
Something cold touched your forehead and you let out a gasp at the contact. Instinctually, you tried to push it away with weak hands.
"I know its cold," a voice said. A comforting, familiar voice that called to your heart. Whoever it was took your hand and caressed your skin with a gentle thumb. "You have a fever, this will help."
You groaned, tried to open your eyes but found it hard. Your body ached and though you didn't want it to, it moved uncomfortably under plush sheets.
After a while the covering over your eyes lifted and you heard the sound of water falling. Turning your head, you pried open your burning eyes to capture blurry and unusual shapes. Your heart raced as you tried to figure out where you were, but the longer it took, the more concerned you were.
"I ha --- to go," you tried to push yourself up but swift footsteps met you before you could.
"Easy, you're sick. You need your rest."
Why was this voice so familiar?
You looked up, even though the action made your head throb. Squinting your eyes, the blob of yellow and red in front of you started to take shape.
"T-Thoma?"
The blob made a smile and pushed strands of your hair out of your face. "It's me," he reassured you, his hand cupping your cheek. Like someone who opened up a door to a dark room, his contact breathed new life into you.
He caught you You fell into him He ease you to rest You were finally at ease
"You found me," you said weakly with a thankful smile. His hand brushed the top of your head and the cold returned but, this time, it felt soothing, refreshing.
"I always do," he hummed and soon your uneasy breaths slowed and faded into healing slumber.

hi! Im not sure if you have art requests open, or even have any! If you don’t then feel free to ignore this!
I just wanted to request a sanegiyuu comic/artpeice!
Since yk how giyuu can’t swim? Well what about sanemi helping him? Going in deep water where they can stand but sanemi is holding giyuu while he tries to swim!
Ah, but then again if you don’t wish to draw, i want to ask if you can write it? Its totally okay if you can’t!
Have a nice day! <3
im sosorry this took so longg 😭 i decided to write smth+a drawing bc im bad at comics lmfao BUT THEN I GOT STUCK IN AN ARTBLOCK HALFWAY THROUGH IM SORRY (art is at the end !)
Despite being the Water Hashira, Giyuu, in fact, did not know how to swim. He never considered it an important asset, given that demons mostly fought on land anyway. But when Mitsuri reported, an embarrassed flush painting her face, that she had fallen backwards into the ocean on one occasion during a fight, he decided that he might need to learn. He didn’t really know who did know how to swim, given that this wasn’t exactly a subject that came by as it wanted, so he wavered on the decision a bit. He wasn’t shameless. He felt that he would feel humiliated if he asked for help for this one thing—after all, what Water Hashira didn’t know how to swim?? (Especially with his training having consisted with being thrown into waterfalls more often than not). In the end, however, he went to his boyfriend, Sanemi. He supposed embarrassment was a small price to pay if he avoided drowning.
Sanemi agreed to help him—after recovering from a short spasm of what he pretended wasn’t laughter. Really, nobody could blame Sanemi (except Giyuu, who was clueless) what with Giyuu coming up to him with a face set with determination asking, like a child, to be taught to swim. But he did take Giyuu to a river the next time they were both free. He had him strip down until a single cloth derailed the word ‘naked’ to be used as a term for Giyuu’s current state. Then he promptly pushed him into the biting water.
Giyuu, as used to being abruptly pushed into icy water without warning as he was, still yelped as he landed with a splash into one of the deeper parts of the river. He flailed for a moment before resurfacing, his whole body trembling and his arms lifting to wrap around himself.
“Sanemi!” he whined, his feet sinking into the muddy bottom. He moved much too slowly for his taste—held back by the current of the river—until he stood at the edge, glaring up at his boyfriend. “I said teach me how to swim, not kill me!”
“You don’t look dead,” Sanemi remarked, biting back a smirk.
“Are you going to help or not?” Giyuu asked, lips tugging into a frown as he struggle to prevent his teeth from chattering. Fuck, this was colder than he’d realized. Certainly didn’t help that near to all his skin was exposed.
“I will. Give me a moment,” Sanemi said. He stripped down then joined Giyuu into the river, easing down in a much calmer way than Giyuu had had the luxury to afford. After that, however, Sanemi was a lot kinder. Impatience bit at his voice but he held Giyuu steadily, instructing him to hold his breath and submerge his face underwater. It was, unfortunately, the first step.
Giyuu did as he was told, sucking in a deep breath, scrunching up his nose and shutting his eyes tightly before he plunged down into the icy water. The current of the river batted at his face and he struggled to ignore every instinct that screamed at him to come back up. Then, not used to this strange environment, he lost his focus and air instantly tried filling his lungs. He popped back up in a panic, coughing out the water that stung the back of his mouth and his throat, lungs aching. He had apparently inhaled some of the water as he tried satisfying the urging need for air.
Sanemi sighed, rubbing Giyuu’s back and letting him catch his breath. “I said hold your breath, you idiot. Just because you’re the Water Hashira doesn’t mean you should literally breathe water,” he said. Then, with a hint of concern in his voice he added, “Take a minute, though.“
Giyuu took his time, which was much longer than a minute. But when he did decide he had recovered from the apparently traumatizing experience, Sanemi made him do it again. And again. And again. Until he was as comfortable as he could get doing this. By then, they had been in the water for quite some time and Sanemi decided that they shouldn’t risk getting a cold and dragged Giyuu back out. When Giyuu protested, saying he had barely learnt anything, Sanemi threatened that he would personally go back in time and place Giyuu somewhere in the years following 1346. He also added that they could continue the next day, to which Giyuu backed down. He was cold, after all.
The following day, after getting a bit of sleep, they focused on floating. Giyuu was dubious to the fact that he would be able to float, deciding that his inability to swim would render him useless. Sanemi called him an idiot. As it turned out, Giyuu really was somewhat floatable. He found this practice considerably more calming than the last, bobbing up and down in the river, eyes closed and body just… floating along. It was more enjoyable, to say the least. But then Sanemi got bored of this, apparently, because when Giyuu looked around after fifteen minutes of just floating, Sanemi had disappeared. They continued the next day.
As Giyuu progressed, Sanemi started taking him to rivers with longer widths. Oceans were either too far or too dangerous for the moment, unless Giyuu wanted to idle around the shores and make sand castles. So they stuck to rivers.
Despite having felt that none of this would’ve been helpful before they had started, Giyuu found that swimming was actually quite relaxing (as long as Sanemi wasn’t pushing him into the water). He hadn’t lived near anywhere they could use for swimming as a child, so he hadn’t done more than splash about in big puddles. This was much different and he liked it, almost unbelieving of the fact that he had been doubtful this would be anything more than a useful asset might he come across trouble in battle. However, he still wasn’t quite good at it yet which, he supposed, was only normal, yet made him feel reproachful when their next sessions came along. Sanemi assured him that it would take time and not to rush it unless he planned on drowning. Which wasn’t quite so reassuring, but at least he hadn’t quit yet. Even with all his complaints about his inept student. Nevertheless, Giyuu wasn’t the only one having fun and he could see Sanemi looking more relaxed as he laughed (albeit he was laughing at Giyuu for having flailed about after getting scared by what had turned out to be an underwater plant).

“Let's Cool Down" ♡˖” ; Seasonal Scenarios! ੈ✩‧₊˚ Chuuya Nakahara x GN!Reader
Warnings; None
Description; Vacation house activities with Chuuya!
A/n; Lately I've been starting to utilize my queue. Also I think I'm flopping because I pick whack ass times to post. But anyways, there are some parts in this where I am just yapping away tbh
★ Chuuya likes sitting in a hot tub with his partner, a glass of wine sitting on the edge while he talks with you. He also likes late night ocean swims and teasing you.
ೃ⁀➷
The soft feeling of the hot tubs jets against your back almost made you shiver. It felt nicer than you remembered from the other day and gave you a bit of a pleasant surprise as you settled down on one of the built in seats, your lover sitting right across from you. He gave you a relaxed smile, which you returned as you let your feet float up into his lap. One of his hands rested on your ankle, the other holding onto the wine glass he brought with him. His lips became stained with the red liquid as he sipped on it, the soft glow cascading onto his skin from the fairy lights decorating the gazebo of the vacation home. He had rented it out in hopes of relaxing with you for a few days, relatively limited on vacation time because of the nature of his job.
"Is it comfortable?" He asks, his voice as soft as the sound of the bubbles coming from the hot tub's jets. You hum, nodding your head as you made yourself comfortable in the body of warm water. The ocean was visible from the homes porch, the soft waves crashing onto the shore with the moon reflecting onto them. It added to the comforting atmosphere the two of you had created with one another. He held out his glass before speaking and breaking the vocal silence. "Do you want a sip?" He asked. You shook your head in denial briefly. "I'm alright, thank you." You said with a small smile. His arm retracted and brought the drink to his lips. "You were starin' at me so I thought you might want some. Is something on your mind?" The way he cared for your well-being and simply tried to make you feel better even at the slightest signs of discomfort, real or imaginary, made your heart warm a little. "No, sorry, I just zoned out." You reassured him.
He smiled at you and reached out to hold your hand under the water. Your conversations over the next minutes were occupied by plans of the coming days and memories of similar activities. As you talked with one another, exchanging small laughs and giggles, you could feel your body heating up. That and the scent of the chlorine could make you light headed. You couldn't help but feel a bit dizzy and as though your body had become lighter and more buoyant in the water. Chuuya noticed this again and took your hand, gently pulling you upward. "You look like your heatin' up, darlin'.." he says, pulling you closer to his body and stroking your back gently. "Yeah, I definitely am" you say, taking a deep breath and laughing a bit.
"I know something that could cool ya' down." He says, looking over your shoulder at the dark ocean. Your gaze followed his as your turned your head and upper body. "Hmm...is that really the best idea? I mean, it's really dark- and you know, the winds already cooling me down pretty well." You say while turning back to him. He nods and grabs your hands gently, interlocking both of your fingers. "Well yeah, but it could be fun! Do you really think I'd ever let my darlin' get swept away by the ocean?" He asks, a small grin on his face. You playfully roll your eyes and step out of the hot tub, your boyfriend following suit. The both of you walk down to the start of the sandy beach, him grabbing your hand and running down towards the water. You stumbled at first, but eventually we're able to keep up with him, both of you eventually getting to the water and being forced to slow down. You went in to your knees before your initial running came to a halt.
"Do you feel any cooler?" Chuuya asks, his lips tugged into a loving grin as he scooped some water up in his hands and splashed it at you. You laughed and splashed him back, yours was a lot more forceful, making him back up a bit with a chuckle. "A lot cooler!" You say, talking over the loud sound of the waves. The deeper the two of you went out, the closer you stayed to him. The waves were now crashing against your waist, Chuuyas grip on you allowing his ability to keep you upright and from being toppled over. The wind blew through his long hair and the moon draped a beautiful glow over his pale skin. He looked so gorgeous. He rotated his body to face you, his wet and dripping hand emerging from the water to gently cup your cheek. His thumb caressed your cheek bone as his face got closer to yours. "You're so... indescribable." He mumbles, pulling you in for a gentle kiss on the lips. Your cheeks heated up as you kept him close with your hand on the back of his neck.
You only broke the kiss for a couple of seconds at a time, pulling each other right back in. You could feel Chuuyas smile plastered on his lips against yours while they moved together. He squeezed your hip through there swimwear before his hand slid over the curve of your ass before lifting you up. You gasped briefly in surprise but you quickly adjusted through breathy laughs. Your hands were on his cheeks as you both kept eachother close. He pulled away after a moment and started to let you down before dropping you completely. You fell into the water and could already hear his laughter while submerged. You quickly resurfaced, your hair and entire body soaked now in the cold liquid. You wiped the salt water from your eyes before playfully smacking him on the shoulder. "You can't just drop me like that, Chuuya!" You say through snickers and deep breaths. He rubs your back, while simultaneously guiding you back closer to the shore, both of you grinning from ear to ear.
"I'm real sorry, can you forgive me?" He asks, holding you close. You place your pointer finger on your chin, pretending to be deep in thought over the matter. "I guess." You tease, leaning into his side lovingly. He smiles and kisses your cheek. "Thanks my love, you know I would never intentionally do such a thing." He says with a smirk. You just roll your eyes and nod along. "Totally."

I LOVED your sully family x reader fic!!!
Makes me wonder what would happen if Quaritch came and tried to take reader away 👀
If he was scared of Neytiri before, he’s going to have a heart attack now lol
~A/N: I had planned to write a part two to it since I liked it and people were asking for it, but I just had to include your idea once I checked my inbox! Once again, reader is pretty gender neutral, only descriptors are your size since in this you're tiny.
~Masterlist
Part 1 , Part 2
CW: yandere behavior (platonic), possessive behavior, obsessive behavior, mental breakdown, mild description of violence, minor character death
~(A/N: Going to include the Kiri scene, for plot purposes. Also going to follow some of the actual plot for part of this.)
-You had been with your new family and staying with the Metkayina for a few weeks now. You had gotten used to it with the rest of your family.
-Though it was frustrating that you couldn’t do the same things as your siblings. It was frustrating not being allowed to do the things even Tuk was allowed to do! You were tired of it, and kind of regretted calling them your family if it could’ve prevented this. But you did love them.
-You were once again collecting shells in the shallow water and playing with the other kids and your siblings, when someone suggested going for a deeper swim. Everyone said yes, and your siblings even allowed you to go because they said it would be safe!
-You followed the group and dove with them to look at the glowing plants. You were looking around when you noticed that Kiri had stopped swimming. You looked over and saw her shaking in place.
-You knew this was a problem and immediately went to her and swam up to the surface as fast as you could with Kiri in your grasp. Eventually the others noticed as well and helped you drag Kiri to the surface. You swam with the group as they brought Kiri to the shore.
-You insisted on going with her to the healer’s hut. You were allowed to and stayed by her side the whole time. You watched as Norm and Max showed up and enthusiastically hugged them when they arrived at the hut.
-They were in shock that you’ve been here with the Sully’s the whole time. They’d been worried when you just disappeared when the family did, but they were glad you were safe. They focused and went to Kiri, but you still clung to them the whole time while looking at your new sister.
-Neytiri was with you guys, and while she was extremely worried for her oldest daughter, she was fuming watching you cling to the dream walkers. Neytiri insisted Ronal stay and use a navi way of taking care of Kiri.
-She went and snatched you from the humans while ordering them to leave so the Metkayina’s tsahik could do her thing. She was royally pissed when you whined and reached for them as they were heading out. She just faced Kiri so you could focus on the important thing again.
-Once you caught sight of your sister again, you wiggled to get down. Your mother set you down and you hurried back to Kiri’s side. You were sitting beside her, resting your hand on her arm as Ronal was doing her chants.
When she finished, it only took a moment for Kiri’s eyes to open and her to gasp for air. She looked around and immediately spotted her mother and youngest sister, plus the rest of her family outside of the hut.
She clutched her mom’s and your hand and burst into tears. You leaned down to hug her as she cried. You didn’t blame her, this had to be a traumatizing experience for her. You just held her as the rest of the family gathered around her
As everyone settled, you patted her head before being pulled into your oldest brother’s lap. You didn’t want to be in anyone’s lap and started wiggling to be let go. Neteyam sighed, but set you down beside him anyway.
Though, with everyone focused on your sister, you got the chance to sneak out of the tent and go to Norm and Max. You ran up to them and collided with their legs. Norm turned and quickly picked you up. He smiled as you tightly hugged his neck.
You sighed and said, “I missed you.” You just hugged tighter and buried your face in his neck more. It felt so good to see them again. Norm hugged you back as tight as he could without hurting you. He said he missed you too, which just made you cling on tighter. Max was touched at the sight and went over to hug the both of you. He knew you liked getting group hugged’ like this.
The moment lasted for a few minutes before one of the Sullys noticed you were gone and left the hut to find you. Neteyam was pissed when he saw you clinging to the scientists. He marched over and tapped Max on the shoulder to get his attention. Once he had it, he motioned for them to give you back, which they did reluctantly.
You looked over Neteyam’s shoulder as they started leaving. You waved at them and yelled, “Bye-bye!” They smiled and waved back at you before heading back to the forest.
-Once Neteyam was back in the hut with his family, he went and sat down with you right next to Kiri, who clung onto your hand again. You just sighed and settled into your brother’s lap more.
-You were getting kind of tired of being held most of the day by them, even if you struggled to keep up on your own. You wanted some time to yourself after this. Kiri would be recovering, so maybe it was possible.
-Once she was taken back to your family’s marui, everyone had gathered around in a hammock to cuddle together. And for some reason you were in the middle of it.
-You loved cuddles, but you were a little bit overwhelmed, overstimulated, and slightly too warm. So, once everyone was settled more and was deep enough into their nap, you gently took yourself out of the pile.
-You went to the place with some paper and wrote them a note saying you were out swimming/exploring to clear your head and relax. You knew this would worry them, but it would be worth it in the end.
You went to the entrance of the marui and quietly walked out, going towards the shore. You wandered around for a bit before coming across Tsireya, who was swimming around in the shallower water. You stood there for a minute before calling out to her.
You started to walk a bit into the water as she turned to look at you, a bit surprised to see your family nowhere in sight. She brushed the thought off and swam to where you were to see what you were doing. She asked why you were out here alone and you said, “I love them but I want some time to myself. I was a bit overwhelmed so I left them a note and came out to walk around for a bit. I like being around other people though and figured you wouldn’t mind hanging out with me for a little while. I just don’t wanna be picked up or held right now.” You looked up at her through your lashes and fiddled with your fingers as you explained yourself.
Tsireya was a bit concerned for you from the words, but happily agreed to spend some time with you. You said you wanted to just float around for a bit in the deeper part, so she swam out with you and watched over you while you relaxed. You floated on your back while staring up at the sky. Tsireya dove down under the water, but continued to keep a good watch over you. You were just an innocent and cute kid.
In the time you were floating around, Aonung and Rotxo had joined Tsireya in swimming around and keeping watch over you. It was surprisingly refreshing to see you enjoying yourself without your family around. You seemed so content at the moment that they didn’t want to interfere with it.
It was about an hour from when you started floating that they heard a commotion from the Sullys’ marui. They looked over and saw most of the family rush out of the marui, all of them except Kiri and Tuk, who were standing at the entrance with a piece of paper in Kiri’s hand. They all looked at each other, then at you, then back at the family rushing along the beach towards them.
You still hadn’t noticed them, and it seems like they hadn’t noticed you yet. They slowly swam to cover you from their view as they got close enough to look at you. They wanted you to have a bit more peace before the Sullys dragged you off with them.
Jake frantically asked them if they had seen you, and they looked at each other again before looking back at him and shaking their heads while shrugging. He narrowed his eyes at them and walked a bit closer. Neteyam and Loak immediately walked into the water to swim towards them. They got very nervous, because they knew you were still peacefully floating behind them, relaxing.
Once the two made it to them, they looked at the three with narrowed eyes. The three were shoulder to shoulder, like a little wall. They looked like they were hiding something. And they were. As soon as they looked around them, they saw you. You were still floating on you back, but had drifted into a light doze.
Loak let out a relieved sigh before getting closer and gently grabbing your arm. You jolted up and looked around before looking over your brother. You saw the three metkayina kids looking concerned, Neteyam in front of them looking relieved, and your parents on the shore still looking a bit panicked. Though once they saw you were okay, they both deflated and smiled at you.
You just sighed, upset that your alone time was interrupted, but went with your brothers anyway. As soon as you got to your parents, Neytiri picked you up and clutched you to herself. Along with Jake rubbing your back.
The metkayina children just looked at you with concern filled eyes. They thought you looked so tired. They kind of felt bad for you, because they knew that you probably never got to be alone in that family.
As they saw the Sullys walk off with you, they made eye contact again and nodded. Tsireya and Aonung were gonna bring their concern up with their parents. They knew they could make up something for all of the family to do so you could be by yourself for a while during the days.
Meanwhile, you were smothered with attention when you guys got back to your marui. You just slumped to the floor of the hammock and they surrounded you. You basically shut down so you could have alone time in your mind.
-The rest of the family noticed you went limp and cautiously backed away from you enough to look you over. You were just blankly staring in front of you. This made them very concerned.
-Kiri got closer and waved her hand in front of your face, and you didn’t react at all. She didn’t like that, so she gently shook you to see if you would react to that. You did react to that by jolting and rapidly blinking your eyes before looking around you.
-The family was relieved that you were okay and all hugged you again.
-Which was a mistake.
-Because you immediately burst into tears and tried struggling away from them. Their attempts to sooth you with affection just made you cry harder and scream louder. They were baffled because this was the first tantrum of yours they had ever witnessed in the months of knowing you.
-You were totally inconsolable for a good ten to fifteen minutes, which stressed them out beyond belief. They wanted you to calm down, but nothing that they were doing was helping, just seemed to make you cry harder. They were honestly at a loss for what to do.
-Finally, they all backed away from you. Once you had some breathing room, you stopped struggling and just cried for another ten minutes before slowly calming down. It took another 5 minutes for your cries to stop completely.
-The Sullys just watched you the whole time, shocked that you just needed them to not touch to make you calm down. It almost made them think that you didn’t love them anymore, but they knew that a lot of children just need space during big meltdowns like that.
-After you were done freaking out you got very tired. Throwing a tantrum uses a lot of energy. As you were falling asleep you quietly said, “I’m sorry. I’ve been overstimulated with all of the touching lately. I left our marui to relax by myself.”
-And with that, you were dead asleep.
The family carefully gathered around you and carefully put you into the middle of their cuddle pile. They just let you rest on top of them, just for that night. They would allow you to have a little bit of space for part of the next day, but that was it.
When you woke up the next morning the family was gathered around you like usual. You, surprisingly, didn’t care all too much since letting your emotions out. You went closer to Neytiri and snuggled into her since everyone else was still asleep. You drifted off to sleep, a lot warmer than before, and content.
Neytiri had woken up when you moved on top of her, and she was delighted that you chose to be close with her again. She waited until you went back to sleep to move closer to Jake and snuggle you closer between them.
She gently shook him awake, and once his eyes opened she motioned to you. He had the most radiant smile while realizing that you chose to lay with them. He put his arms around the both of you and gently purred. The other kids all woke up at this and peeked over their parents’ sides to see you between them. They were also happy to see that, as that would mean that they could cling to you again soon. The whole family rested while looking at you until the sun was mostly up. Then, everyone except you and Neytiri left the hammock to begin making breakfast.
Once breakfast was almost ready, Neytiri got up, while still holding you, and went over to where the rest of the family was. You were starting to stir just as she fully sat down. You opened your eyes and yawned right after, making the whole family smile at you. You were always so adorable when you did that.
You were fully awake when the food was ready to be served, perched on your mother’s lap and ready to receive your portion. It didn’t take you that long to eat, so you sat back against her as the rest of your family finished eating.
After they were all done eating, you were set on the ground and told you could do whatever by yourself until someone got you for lunch. You smiled so hard your cheeks hurt and thanked them before hurrying out of the marui. The rest of your family sighed before the kids nodded at each other and started following you.
-They saw you run across the shore before getting to a quiet part of the beach and going into the water. You waded around for a while, then swam out a bit further. Once you got to where it was deeper, you just started floating on your back.
-And didn’t do anything else for a while. They were pretty sure you fell asleep.
-Until they saw someone come up from underwater towards you. Once they surfaced they saw it was just Tsireya. Who looked over at you before swimming closer and stopping right next to you. She waved her hand in front of your face, giggling when she didn’t get a reaction.
-She gently pushed water towards you, making you wake up from your doze and look over at her. You lazily smiled before draping yourself over her back and laying your head back down. She just looked over her shoulder at you before gently swimming around with you on her.
-They were just shocked that you only wanted some time to be quiet and calm. They guessed that even children got worn out with constant activity and noise. Maybe the clinging didn’t help as well, since you were alone through most of the morning.
-Though it was time for them to start gathering you for lunch, or at least a snack. They did have more swimming lessons after lunch.
-They started waving at Tsireya, and it didn’t take long for her to notice them. She saw them waving her towards them, so she began gently swimming to the shore with you. It only took her about two minutes to reach the group of siblings, considering she swam slowly to not wake you up.
-Once she got to them, Kiri took you from her back into her arms, to not wake you back up. Neteyam thanked her and told her they were gonna have a small lunch before their lessons. Tsireya took the moment to tell them that her parents wanted them to bring you to the lesson today as well. As well as that Ronal wanted to have a conversation with her afterwards.
-The siblings were confused, but had to agree to the request of the tsahik. They just nodded before walking off with you.
Tsireya went to her mother to let her know the Sully siblings agreed to let you go with Ronal after the lesson.
Ronal was relieved that she could get you away from them for some extra time today, though she would talk to you during that time to figure out if there are different ways to take care of your health. She wanted to be prepared, just in case.
She had a bad feeling for the future.
Meanwhile, you were being held in Kiri’s lap as you ate lunch with your family. When you were all done you were carried over to where the lessons usually are. You were reluctantly put down when Aonung, Tsireya, and Rotxo made their way over to you and your siblings.
They explained that Tsireya and Aonung would be helping the siblings with their ilus and some more advanced diving. And Rotxo would be helping you with your breathing and supervising you underwater. To which you just nodded before walking over to Rotxo.
The whole group swam out to the deeper section of the water before Rotxo guided you away from the main group to keep you from being swept up by the ilus swimming near you. Your siblings were almost glaring at him, but knew that he was just helping you and keeping you safe. They didn’t exactly trust him with you, so they would glance over every once in a while to check up on you.
Meanwhile, you were just happily diving down a bit to look at all of the plants and animals under the water, periodically going up for air. You were proud of yourself for being able to spend up to five minutes underwater. You were just gleefully exploring with Rotxo, pointing out all of the exciting things you saw to him, which made him smile at you everytime. He was honestly having a great time watching you explore.
You two were doing that for about an hour and a half until he got the signal from Tsireya to bring you to Ronal and join the main lesson. So, he guided you to the surface, then helped you to the shore. Once you were there he asked if you wanted him to carry you. You thought about it before nodding and reaching up towards him.
He chuckled and picked you, holding you close to his chest, before starting to walk to the tsahik’s tent. It only took about ten minutes to make it there, and he dropped you off after calling out to Ronal to tell her you were there.
Ronal turned to you and motioned you closer to her. You quickly waddled, in her point of view, to her side and waited for more context. She just gently smiled at you and set you somewhere higher then sat down herself.
-She told you she wanted you to tell her if there were any ways that your health maintenance was different to navi.
-You put on your thinking face before telling her all of the things you knew, happily telling her that Norm and Max taught you most of those things. This took you almost half an hour because of how excited you were to get everything out.
-Ronal was intently listening to you and nodding along to what you were telling her. She had gathered that humans were very similar to navi, except more delicate and sensitive to things. She knew this information would be valuable to her later, she had a feeling you would get hurt more than other navi in their village.
-She said she understood and that you were a smart girl for remembering all of that. You beamed at her and hugged the nearest part of her to you. Which happened to be her arm. She looked down at you as you hugged her arm and smiled up at her.
-She thought you were a cute kid. She patted your head before scooping you up and asking if you would help her with her (easier) duties until dinnertime.
-And you easily agreed, very happy to help someone. You continued holding onto her as she went deeper into her hut. She set you on a mat as she brought over multiple things for the medicinal pastes she uses.
-She briefly introduces them to you, by saying their names and pointing at them, and telling you to help by handing her the right things as she makes more of her current medicines.
She spends about two hours making more medicines with you talking at her the whole time. She nods along to the right parts, even if what you are talking about concerns her a little bit. You had been telling her all about your life, from coming to Pandora to meeting the Sullys. She’s surprised that you are such a happy child after going through all of that.
She didn’t say that to you, she just told you that you’ve definitely had an interesting life. You happily nodded at her before Neytiri came into the hut to get you for dinner. You trotted over to her before getting picked up and carried away. You waved at Ronal over her shoulder as you were leaving the hut.
Ronal just sighed as you two left. She was very confused by the fact that the Sullys just took you with them when they came here. She would have to keep an eye on them in the future.
-Neytiri had carried you to where the family was eating on the beach. Well, they would be eating there, they were waiting for you to begin eating.
-She sat down with you in her lap and handed you your tiny bowl and small portion. You taking your first bite had prompted the others to start eating as well. And you were all finished eating within fifteen minutes.
-After you were all finished eating, you got up and went into the water to float for a bit before you had to go to sleep. Your siblings went in with you and started playing around you, and your parents were watching over all of you with smiles on their faces.
-Life continued on very similar to that for about another month before things changed in a way no one could’ve predicted. (A/N: I’m gonna skip right to the part where Quaritch shows up)
Loak had planned to take you guys with him to see Payakan. You all went in the water with him to visit the Tulkun, as he hadn’t left with the rest. All of you were paying all of your attention to Loak and Payakan and didn’t notice what was happening around you.
No one noticed until it happened. But suddenly, most of the people present were snatched up and out of the water. Those being you, Loak, Kiri, Tuk, and Tsireya. You had inhaled a little bit of water from being surprised while under, and started hacking and coughing as soon as you were above the surface. As soon as you were all thrown onto the floor of the ship, your siblings circled you and patted your back as you continued to cough.
You looked around you while still coughing up some water and saw some unfamiliar navi wearing human clothes. This gave you a bad feeling in your tummy. Finally after a few more minutes your coughing slowed down and you slumped down onto the deck of the ship you were thrown on. The rough fall had also made you pretty sore.
Your siblings and Tsireya were huddled around you while you were basically limp on the boat. The avatars around you were staring at the display in confusion. They had never seen the human before this and it seemed that all of the Sully children were very attached and protective of you, even the little one.
They had missed one of the Sully kids though, the oldest one. And they got one of the water ones instead. Oh well, they can work with this. They each grabbed a kid and brought them to the railing to tie them to it. They tied up the big ones first before putting the small ones in between them. That made the group relax a bit, even if they were still glaring at them.
Quarich just smirked and went to the boy to take his earpiece, he knows he can get to Jake this way. He snatched it off of the kid’s head and brought it up to his face. He called out to Jake and told him he had his kids. He got a very quick response asking which of his kids were there.
-He brought the device to each kid’s face and prompted them to say their names. He went down the line : Loak, Y/N, Kiri, Tuk, and Tsireya.
-As soon as Jake heard his kids were with that bastard, he turned to Neytiri with a determined look on his face. When all of the kids that were there were listed, they were both ready to end all of them by themselves. Right as they were gonna leave to kill them, his oldest along with Aonung and Roxto ran to them to tell them what happened.
-He said he got the news from the source, and were gonna end them for taking their babies. They looked at each other and nodded before going to get Tonowari and Ronal as well. They also asked the boys if they wanted to help.
-They all said yes, so the group went to get the other adults. They found them quickly. Once they explained the situation, both of the other parents were ready to kill as well.
-All of them got their weapons before heading out into the water. The whole time he was talking to Quarich to make sure he didn’t do anything to the kids. He saw the boat was far enough from the shore that they could sneak up on the avatars.
-The metkayina, Jake, and Neteyam got onto their ilus and skimwings, while Neytiri got onto her ikran, and they set off stealthily to reach the ship.
-They all went over the plan together, then surfaced to fill in Neytiri in the sky, but not through the comms. They went around the back of the ship, spotted Neytiri in the sky, then gave her the signal for her to attack first.
-Neytiri shot an arrow straight for Quaritch, making sure it went through his neck. He would not get away with taking her children, especially her youngest, delicate baby.
-After the ones in the water saw the arrow go through his neck, they emerged from the water and made quick work of the rest of the avatars, who were still stunned about the first attack.
-Neytiri descended from the sky and landed on the boat. Getting out her knife and slashing Quaritches throat to make sure he was dead. The rest of the group followed with the other avatars.
Once that was said and done, each set of parents went to their children and cut them free from the railing of the ship. The metkayina all embraced each other once Tsireya was free. The Sullys all hugged each other, with you and Tuk in the middle of it. They knew seeing death this close could be a bit traumatizing for children. Jake knew that was especially true for human children.
He picked you up and held you close to his chest. He kissed your head and quietly asked you if you were alright. You just clung to him and shook your head. He turned to the rest of his family and gently shook his head. They then all circled around you too and each kissed your head and rubbed your back before they went to the edge of the ship to head back to their marui.
You went with your dad on his skimwing, Tuk with your mom on her ikran, Kiri went with Neteyam on his ilu, Loak went on the ilu Aonung was riding, Tsireya rode on the skimwing with her dad, and Aonung rode with his mother on her skimwing. The families nodded at each other when they reached the shore before parting ways to go to their own maruis.
You were still being clutched in your dad’s arms as your family made their way across the beach and the pathways to your marui. You had been coming down from the adrenaline high of getting kidnapped and rescued. You got extremely tired, so you drifted off to sleep in your dad’s arms before you even made it home.
Tuk had done the same in your mom’s arms, the older siblings smiling at you both, though Kiri and Loak were also very tired.
-Once you made it back Kiri took your from Jake, and Loak took Tuk from Neytiri, and they went to lay in the family hammock with you two. As soon as they laid down, they were out cold. The awake members of the family just smiled at the four of you before going to make dinner for you all.
-They took their time making it to give you guys a good nap before they had to wake you up for dinner. It took the three oldest of the family about forty minutes to finish a decent sized dinner for everyone. Once they were finished, they went over to your cuddle pile and gently shook all of you awake.
-You all sat up groggily, which made the oldest three chuckle at you guys. They quietly told you that dinner was ready, which quickly woke up Loak and Tuk, who jumped up and raced out of the hammock towards where the food was.
-Jake followed them to keep them from eating before the whole family was there. Neytiri stayed with you and Kiri, who were slower waking up than her other two youngest. She gently guided Kiri out of the hammock, then pushed her towards the rest of the family.
-She, however, gently picked you up and carried you with her to the others. She sat down between Jake and Kiri before getting food for you, slightly more than usual. She had a feeling you would be slightly hungrier than normal tonight.
-Everyone else had their portions of dinner by then and started eating as soon as you had yours. You ate just as slow as you usually did, and ate everything in your bowl as well. You were still hungry after finishing it, which was very unusual for you. You turned to your mother and quietly asked her to get you more food. She smiled and gave you another portion, this time slightly smaller than your normal one.
-Your family smiled at you as you finished the second helping, set down your bowl, and immediately went back to sleep in your mother’s lap. Your youngest brother and Tuk had been scarfing down huge portions of dinner, three for Loak, and two for Tuk before they were done as well and yawned after setting their bowls down too.
-Kiri was still tired as well after eating her bigger than normal portion too. Once the whole family was done eating, Jake took all of the stuff from dinner to the kitchen and set them down as Neytiri and Neteyam helped the rest of the family back into bed. He joined them as soon as he was done.
-He cuddled everyone close when he joined his family in their hammock. Pulling his mate and two youngest close to him while smiling. The older children stuck close to their parents’ side and fell asleep quickly. Jake and Neytiri shared a light kiss before going to sleep as well.
-When you woke up the next day you refused to let go of your family. And they were in heaven, even if they were also recovering from the major scare the day before. They had each taken some time for themselves throughout the day, essentially taking shifts with you to let you cling to them.
-By the end of the day, you were calmer and wanted to float outside the marui. You told them this, and they had someone go supervise you as you did it. You relaxed there for the hour before dinner was done.
-Loak had been watching over you the whole time. Once he heard that dinner was ready, he went over to the edge of the pathway and splashed some water on you to get your attention.
-He smiled at you as you opened your eyes and lifted your head to look over at him. He raised a hand and motioned you to come towards him. You just blinked at him before swimming over to the edge of the pathway.
-Once you were right in front of him, he reached out and lifted you right out of the water and into his arms. He easily carried you into the marui and to where the rest of your family was. He sat you down on his lap while he was between Kiri and Neteyam.
-His dad handed him his plate and yours, the last ones to be handed out, but he wasn’t that upset about it. This was the first time in a while that he got to have you with him during a meal, and he was going to relish it.
He gently handed you your dinner before starting to eat his. He was still shocked to this day how little food you eat. And that it makes you full. Last night was the most he had ever seen you eat, and it was still a pretty small amount compared to navi children. But, he couldn’t say anything about it since you were healthy, and he knew everyone else in his family, with the exception of his dad, felt that way. He figured it was since he had a lot more experience with human children.
It didn’t take long after you were done for the rest of the family to finish as well. Your mom took all of the things from dinner away while the rest of the family went towards your hammock. Loak had carried you over with him while Neteyam carried Tuk. They both laid down with you two and snuggled together, with Kiri joining while you were settling down. Not long after that, your parents came and snuggled in on either side of your little pile, each with an arm resting over all of you.
You all peacefully went to sleep, content with the reassuring presence of your family.

The marquee holds extraordinary heat. It reminds me of the family holiday I took with Maureen and her kids to Florida, that phenomenal, stupefying heat, and the air like soup. I felt too tired to do anything but swim around in the resort pool for those two weeks, but that was the whole point. We went to laze about. I bobbed on a big yellow pool floater while the others slept on the deck chairs until the sun dipped over Daytona Beach and it was bearable enough to move again.
Here, light permeates through polyester walls, diffusing a blue hue, and the air is constrictive like a panic attack. It smells too, of hot plastic and grass, and all the people who didn’t queue for the showers this morning.
“It’s gross in here,” I comment, bellowing already because every voice in the whole marquee bounces off the walls and raises the volume to incomparable levels.
Joe laughs and makes fun of my accent for Kasper’s benefit. “Gross, man, totally freakin’ gross, my dude.”
“Do you want to stay or go?”
“It’s Crystal Castles!”
“Okay, so, stay?”
“Yeah, duh.” With a hand on my back, Joe propels me into the crowd, where we push through, closer and closer to the front. The atmosphere is so unpleasant, so hot, so stuffy, and even though I’ve been drinking all afternoon, my head still twists with unwanted thoughts. I feel my phone vibrate.
It’s Jen, as expected.
Where are you? We’re going to see Slash now. Also, Evie has asked where you are a few times.
I shove it back into my shorts pocket, and something crinkles against my hand.
Ah. I had forgotten about this.
I subtly pull out the baggie from yesterday, the one from Weed Alison, and turn it over in my hand. I know I shouldn’t, that I tell everyone who asks me that don’t do any of this anymore, but these little pink pills lure me in like a siren. They hold promises of escapism, if only just for an hour.
And then, what didn’t even seem like an option yesterday seems almost sensible today.
“Hey, do you want one?” I ask Joe, “you and Kasper. I’ve three.”
He cranes his neck. “What’s that?”
“Ket.”
“Oh, I’ve never done that.”
“You want to try it?”
He looks to Kasper for reassurance, and his friend shrugs noncommittally. “Well, what’s it like?”
“Pretty strange.”
“Okay,” he says. I tip two tablets into his palm and one, the last, into my mouth.
He winces as we dry-swallow. “Ugh, it’s disgusting.”
I suppress a cough. “Did you expect gourmet?”
“I didn’t expect pure shite.”
“Well, it’s probably worth it.”
“Probably?”
As I watch the stage, I eagerly anticipate the moment my soul separates from my body while the roadies prepare. Once the gig starts, the ground begins to sway like a fairground ride. It’s the same thrill too, the same loss of control as when you’re floating through the air, when the floor gives way beneath your feet and you’re weightless, like something caught on the wind.
“Woah.” Joe cries at one point, and I am viewing both him and Kasper through a fisheye lens. I just laugh, because everything is silly, and nothing matters the way it did this morning. Thoughts derail like train carriages tipped off the line, and my brain emerges from a pool of cool water, washed clean of every thought that has ever held significance in my whole life.
I was sceptical of Ketamine once, back before I understood it, and clung tightly to the edgy, but familiar high I got from cocaine. It was Alison who gave me some at a house party last summer, my first bump, and with plasticine limbs we danced in the kitchen to someone’s dad’s CD collection, with a sense that we could do whatever we liked, and it wouldn’t be weird. I hadn’t felt that way since I was nine.
Kaleidoscopic lights mesmerise me in the marquee. The music is strange, but perhaps it is supposed to be. All music is strange, if you think about it. Who decides which beats and melodies sound good, anyway? How do we know that? The singer decides to crowd surf and comes close enough for me to touch her boot. It would be funny if I took it off. This is a fact. I lank at the laces while Kasper laughs, this maniacal, unselfconscious laugh, and I join in. I don’t know what I’ll do with the boot once it’s off, but it’s the funniest possible thing to do. Maybe I’ll display it in my college apartment one day, say it belonged to Alice Glass, and have to argue with everyone that doesn’t believe me.
“I feel weird.” Joe says.
“That’s good.”
“No, I think- I feel wrong.”
“It’s not wrong. Don’t make it wrong.”
“I feel wrong,” and I look at him, with his pitch black eyes panicked, and then he heaves.
And he bolts out of the crowd.
“Oh.” I look at Kasper, and him at me, and realise my teeth are sweating. “Do you think it’s bad ket?”
“I don’t know.” He says, and I'm suddenly aware that if I attempt any more words, I will throw them up.
Throwing up in a crowd is not the ideal place to do it, I know this, but it is difficult to escape with legs that feel lead-weighted, when the earth is tilted so dramatically that I am scaling it.
“I’m going to vom.” I announce, and a path clears so quickly that it feels biblical.
I hit the back of the tent, and it goes everywhere. Everywhere. It splashes on my shoes and up the walls, and Joe is there too, my partner in crime, vomiting just as violently as I am. I wonder if I should pat him on the back, or give him a high five, or something.
By the time Kasper falls in line and completes our trio, security is already on us, and all that seemed so easy and funny before now fills me with unspeakable dread.
“Outside,” one barks, grabbing fistfuls of my t-shirt and hauling me toward the door. “You’re pissed.”
“No,” I protest hoarsely, “We’re fine.”
Kasper retches again, inspiring another wave of nausea within me.
“Fuck sake!” the bouncer cries as I get sick on his trousers. “Youse are a disgrace. Get out.”
And we find ourselves the grass, lying face up as the clouds drift by, and the world is still tilting, like it wants to slide us right off the face of it.
“Should we do something?” Joe manages.
“Like what?”
“Get a doctor?”
“Don’t be so dramatic,” I say, before I roll over to the side and throw up in the soil.
Neil, the volunteer nurse, is very kind and patient with me for the time I spend in his company.
“I imagine it’s all out of your system now.” He tells me. “How do you feel?”
“Tired,” I sigh, staring up at the ceiling I spent the last hour getting to know. I haven’t been sick since I got here, it seems I yacked it all out on the field, but I have been so thoroughly prodded and poked that I’ve become irritable, bored, even, as time ticks on and the festival rages on outside the flimsy doors of the medical tent. I turn my head to him, in his blue scrubs and the stethoscope he used on me slung around his neck, and the fear of his judgement arrives. It’s how I know the ket is gone. “That’s never happened to me before, by the way. That reaction was a new thing.”
“You said you’ve taken ketamine before?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, at festivals like this, you just don’t know where it’s coming from. It’s everywhere, but it’s so hard to know what exactly you’re getting. Those pills could have been cut with anything.”
I smile weakly. “Are you telling me off?”
“Not really. I’m just letting you know.”
“Cut with what, exactly?”
“Anything.” He reiterates. “I’m talking talcum powder to heroin and everything in between.”
“Ouch.”
He folds his arms and leans against a table. “Do you want to get in touch with a parent or guardian?”
“Is that mandatory?”
“It’s not, but you might find the best thing for you to do now is to get home and rest. You might like to let a parent know what’s happened today.”
I laugh, the kind of hollow, death-rattle of a laugh that could have come from a sick, elderly man. “Tempting, but no thanks. I think I’ll stay.”
Neil’s mouth flattens into a line, and he gives me a nod. “Well, I’ll just advise you to take it easy, right? And if you feel off at any point, please come straight back here. We’re open all night.”
“But in your medical opinion, I’m fine, right?”
“Yes, I think you’re fine.”
“Oh, good.” I sit up in the trolley and plant shaky, stockinged feet on the floor. “Because there are a few more bands I really wanted to see.”
“I understand.” He says, though he looks as though he doesn’t. “But listen.”
I look up.
“Be wise, Jude.”
I laugh and lace up my vomit-splattered shoes. “Neil, I’m always wise.”

Beyond the Sea | Luke Castellan | V
Pairing: Luke Castellan x Unclaimed Poseidon!Reader
Warnings: angst, fluff, established relationship, slow burn flashbacks, Gods being terrible parents
A/n: sorry this took so long to come out and it's a little short but i hope you all enjoy
Series Masterlist
You woke up to the feeling of your bed being shaken back and forth. You rolled over to see the disturbance only to see Luke shaking the bunk bed by the top bunk.
“What are you doing?” You grumbled as you pulled the blanket over your eyes.
“It’s your birthday!” He exclaimed.
“I wanna sleep in.” You mumbled from under the blanket.
Luke was quiet for a moment, you curiously peeked out from under the blanket to see Luke crouched down right in front of you. He held out a paper plate with a big chocolate chip cookie in the center. On the cookie was a big “17” in sloppy handwriting, he had a wide grin on his face.
“I made it myself.” He said proudly. “Eat it while it's still warm.”
You popped up in the bed and grabbed the plate, Luke came to sit on the side of the bed with you. You split the warm cookie in half and handed one side to Luke.
“Happy birthday Y/n” He whispered as you took a bite of your cookie. You could tell he made it himself but it was still good.
Luke had the whole day planned with your favorite things. Your favorite breakfast then canoeing. He planned a picnic in the woods and even convinced the nymphs to leave you two alone. You did swordplay by the beach which you loved but he hated since you always beat him when you were close to the water. You visited the arts and crafts cabin, the climbing wall, and the archery range before dinner. At dinner, Luke doubled the size of his offering because ‘you shouldn’t have to give up food on your birthday’. You didn’t think it worked that way but the gods never answered your prayers anyway so you didn’t mind.
“So what else do you wanna do on your birthday?” Luke asked as you took the last bite of your dinner. You contemplated for a few seconds.
“Let’s go swimming.” You proposed.
When you got to the beach the sun was beginning to set, casting pink and orange hues over the water. After the morning on the beach with Luke when you discovered you could control the water you began to resent the ocean. It symbolized Poseidon to you and all of the resentment you held for him. However you couldn’t stay away from it. The sea made you stronger, it helped you win battles. It made you feel free, you finally felt like you found somewhere you belonged. You could swim better and hold your breath longer than anyone else at camp. Sometimes you would swim as far out as you could, go under the water, and watch the animals until you had to come up for air. Unfortunately communicating with the sea creatures was a power you did not possess. Luke said that gods have to grant their children powers when they are claimed. Forbidden children are more powerful, more unpredictable, uncontrollable, and can sometimes harness certain powers without the permission of the gods.
“You coming or what?” Luke snapped you out of your thoughts.
“Yeah, I’m coming.” You smiled and followed him to the water. Luke quickly discarded his shirt and shorts leaving him in his boxers. This was a common experience by now, you and Luke went swimming most days of the week and at camp, everyone swam in their underwear and never thought anything of it. However, as time went on Luke got taller, leaner, more muscular. He looked more like a Greek statue as time went on, a dark-haired Apollo.
It was impossible for you to deny your feelings for Luke since you two had almost kissed on the beach a few weeks ago. Just before your discovery of your father and your whole life changed. You have always loved Luke. From the moment he had rescued you and brought you to camp, you were bonded. You were only children then but now you had both changed, and grown, and it was impossible to deny his charm and good looks. Luke was kind, loyal, funny, righteous, everything you could ever ask for. He was also undoubtedly your best friend, your person. You would follow Luke to war and he would do the same for you and the fear of ruining that was stronger than any other feelings you had.
“Okay, turn around.” You ordered Luke. He chuckled a little but followed the command.
“You’d think we wouldn’t still be doing this after this long.” He said as you removed your top layers.
“Yeah yeah whatever.” He turned around to look at you. It made you self-conscious and you were glad it was getting dark to cover your red cheeks. “Bet I’ll beat you to the water.”
You took off sprinting with Luke on your heels. You dove into the water submerging yourself under the waves. Beneath the water, you saw Luke coming in after you but you knew he wouldn’t be able to see you beyond the sunset reflecting on the water. You jumped out of the water behind him, splashing him with water.
“Oh my gods,” He placed his hand over his chest. “You can’t do that to me.”
You laughed so hard it made your stomach hurt. A strong wave came barelling into you nearly knocking you both off of your feet. Luke wrapped his arm around your waist to keep himself above the water.
“Don’t drown us.” He half joked. His voice was soft and almost anxious. You became acutely aware of the situation. You could feel Luke’s skin against yours, pressed right up together. You looked up into his brown eyes and could tell that he had come to the same realization. Neither of you moved, the waves became earily absent. The sun was gone by now and the moon casted shadows on Luke’s grecian features. You realized Luke was looking at you too, looking at you in a way you’d never seen before. He was looking at you the way you looked at him. Time felt like it was moving in slow motion as he slowly got closer and closer. Last time this had happened a massive cold wave interrupted the moment. You had no idea of that was your emotions out of control or Poseidon being a petty father but either way you prayed for the water to stay calm. As some kind of birthday miracle the waves stayed still and Luke’s lips met yours.
The kiss was sweet and timid, you knew that this was his first kiss as well as yours. The two of you pulled away just enough to make eye contact but neither of your said anything. Quickly Luke’s hand came up and wrapped around the back of your neck pulling you in again. You brought your hands up to ravel in the hair by the base of his neck and suddenly the kiss was not sweet and timid anymore. It was desperate and longing like it had been a long time coming. Luke lifted you off the sand and you wrapped your legs around him bringing you somehow closer. You couldn’t help but think that this was the most defiant thing you’d done and you should stop before Poseidon drowned you both. But you couldn’t stop.
“Mr. Castellan!” Chirons voice came from the beach. You practically knocked Luke over trying to separate yourself. You sank down in the water with embarrassment until only your eyes and ears were above water. “Get dressed and meet me in my office.” With that he turned and trotted back to the big house.
You and Luke hurried to the beach and quickly got dressed. The two of you shot eachother nervous glances, unsure of what punishment was to come.
“I better get going.” Luke cleared his throat. “I’ll see you in the cabin.” You nodded as he turned towards the big house. He got a few yards ahead of you before turning around and shouting back at you. “Happy Birthday Y/n!”
That night as you walked back to the cabin your face was plastered with a wide grin.

Anyways, request fics will be coming in slow, I'm sorry :'(
With a curious mind, one would hope to seek more of the world around them. To salvage knowledge for their minds to ease that inquisitive hunger. As both a scholar and a scientist, his thirst for knowing more thrived. If there was an opportunity to learn, he wouldn’t turn it down.
He was now on a ship, sailing from Snezhnaya to Sumeru; he had research to conduct there. It rocked along with the foamy waves as he stood there on the top deck, overlooking the vast ocean before his eyes. It was a sea of turquoise, with sun glitter bouncing off of the water surface. He usually didn’t care for such mundane things, but even he had to admit, it was quite a lovely view.
He took out a watch from his pocket and took a peek at the time.
Still had a few hours left before he’d reach the Sumeru docks…
He groaned a bit before putting his pocket watch away. As much as he enjoyed the view, he wanted to start his project already. Any moment longer and he’d—
“Sir!”
His thoughts were cut off when a Fatui agent ran to him. His face was covered by a mask, so The Doctor wasn’t able to read his facial expression. However, judging by his frantic movements, it seemed to be urgent.
“There’s a—”
Before the agent could finish his sentence, a brief moment of bright light flashed, followed by an ear-piercing rumble in the distance. The Doctor turned his head to where the sound came from and he could see the clouds in the sky were getting darker. He then started to feel multiple droplets landing on him…
A thunderstorm was heading their way.
His gaze went from the sky to the raging sea when he felt a strong wave crash against the ship. As it tilted, he held onto the railings as tight as he could, careful not to slip on the now wet floorboards. Everything was a mess, the screams of the staff on board were lost in the roaring winds as the waves got more intense. It was as if the gods of the sea and sky were doing anything they could to make them sink.
“My lord!” One of the staff yelled.
Before The Doctor could learn of what caused him to yell. He felt a sudden force hit him from behind and a piece of wood pierced into his leg. He gritted his teeth at the sudden sensation and lost his footing, also causing his hands to let go off the railings subconsciously. Before he could make sense of everything, he was wondering why the ship was upside down and he was getting further away from it.
Why was it that everything around him was blue and it felt so cold?
And why… Why did it feel like his lungs were on fire?
He opened his mouth and tried to breathe, but he saw bubbles floating to the top. That was when he realized he was swallowed by the ocean. With his leg injured and his body weak from whatever hit him. He was unable to do anything. He could only watch as his body slowly got further away from the surface above…
Was this how the world was going to mark the end of “Zandik’s Legacy”? Was it a way of punishing him for the unorthodox crimes he had committed? For he, who had to make sacrifices in the name of science, to fulfill that curiosity of his, was looked down upon by the gods who deemed it as “unethical”?
His eyelids had never felt this heavy before. Perhaps… Perhaps he could take a little nap?
Yes… Yes, that sounded nice, he thought. Everything felt so peaceful right now, a little rest wouldn’t hurt…
---
The sound of giggles and water splashing could be heard in the distance.
You were just enjoying your time swimming around these more foreign parts of the ocean, exploring every nook and cranny that you could get into. Other than to explore, if you were lucky, you’d also find what you considered “treasure” that fell down from the world above. Collecting all these bits and pieces of human items had become a hobby of yours when you first learned of such species.
Their existence was fascinating to you. How could one not live in water? What do they eat? What is this “teapot” that they use? Is it an instrument? You tried blowing into it once but it did not make a sound so… maybe not.
But the most curious of them all, how do their “legs” work? You always shuddered at that, you couldn’t imagine having your fins split in half.
So many questions, and yet, so little answers.
You were swimming out of a cave when you saw something blue glowing on the ocean floor. You got closer and squinted your eyes when you tried to look at what it was. Gasping a little, you realized it was probably another human item, as you have never seen this before. You picked it up and held it in front of your face. It was an odd looking tube with some blue liquid inside of it.
“Woah…”
You were mesmerized by its glow, it was hypnotizing. You inspected it further, the top and bottom of this tube was adored in gold, and there was some kind of hook on it. Smiling in triumph at this new find, you swam ahead to see if you could find some more. As you did so, you noticed a merman slowly falling onto the ocean floor.
You were concerned as he looked like he was unconscious, so you decided to swim near to see if you could help. Once you did, it was then you noticed he wasn’t someone of your kind.
He had… legs.
Was he…
You didn’t know what to do, there was a human. An unconscious human right in front of you. Should you help him? This was the first you’ve ever seen one in person as well, you didn’t know if he’s dangerous or not…
Your dilemma was quickly settled with your morals. You could worry about that later, this human needed help. You held his hand and with all the strength that you could muster, you swam him to the surface. Looking around, you spotted an island he might be able to rest on and you brought him there, laying him on the sand.
You looked at the human before you, he was wearing something funny on his face and, well, he looked funny in general. You touched whatever that was on his face slightly and realized you could move it. You took it off and you were pleasantly surprised. He had a sharp jawline and his lips looked so soft.
You were starting to doubt the rumors you’ve heard about them. How could someone look like this could be so… dangerous? You shook your head and placed whatever that was on his face back on him.
Well then, what to do now?
---
The Doctor groaned slightly as he began to gain his consciousness again, he could feel the senses of his body coming back to him. His nose could pick up on the pungent smell of something fresh and he could hear the sound of ebbing waves. Not long after, he could also feel his hands again. He touched the ground and he could feel a gritty texture, was it sand?
Wait, sand? And he could breathe?
His brows furrowed in confusion, he could’ve sworn he was in the ocean…
He slowly fluttered his eyes open, adjusting them to the bright light. Once he did, he turned his head left and right, trying to make out where he was. Not too far from where he was laying on, there were a few palm trees around him.
Ah, so it seemed like he was on an island. He assumed that he got washed up. Well, lucky him. It seemed like not even the angry seas and skies could take him down. Of course they couldn’t, he’s the second of the Fatui Harbingers!
He sat up and looked around him. As he did, he noticed a person sitting a few feet away from him, humming to themselves. He could see their upper half clearly and their bottom half was submerged in the water.
Who was that? He thought.
Anyone would think they were just an ordinary person. But he could sense that they were different somehow. Something about them was… alluring.
He continued to observe them, listening to every note they hummed. It felt as if he was in a trance. Their voice was gentle; it could lure him to sleep. He was mesmerized by whoever this was, how could one be so captivating?
His body was still aching but he tried to stand up quietly anyway, only for him to fall back down onto the sand as a sharp sting sent through his leg. His breath hitched he hit the sand. He cursed under his breath, there goes his chance of being stealthy. He made quite a loud noise and there was no way the person didn’t hear him.
And he was correct, the person turned around when he fell. When they did however, he now got a more clearer view of them. Instead of legs, they had… fins?
He stared at them in wonder.
Fins?
Was his eyes seeing things correctly? He knew of this mythical creature. Mermaids, was it? So, were they not a myth, after all? But was it truly scientifically possible for a creature from fairytales to exist?
The more he stared at them, the more questions started to conjure in his mind. He had only just seen them and yet, he wanted to know anything and everything about them, like:
What are they?
What’s their favorite food?
What’s their origin?
It was all so new to him, to have discovered an entirely new species. He sat still when the mermaid crawled closer to him cautiously, getting even closer when they sensed that he wasn’t going to hurt them.
He was just sitting there, intrigued on what they were going to do.
---
The human that you saved a while ago was now awake, and you assumed he was looking at you since he turned his head in your direction. You inched toward him slowly. Once you made sure he wasn’t going to make a move to hurt you. You got closer to him.
You didn’t go on land often, and with your fins it was proven to be a little difficult. But you managed to reach him.
You were now just staring at each other, no words were exchanged between the two of you.
You were wondering if you should say something but was beaten to it by him.
“I have to say, you have quite a soothing voice.”
Baffled, was what was written on your face. You expected him to speak. But not to make a comment about your voice.
You could feel your face heat up. You turned your head away and cleared your throat before facing him again.
“I’m glad you’re awake now, I saw you were unconscious so I brought you here.”
Ah, so he wasn’t washed up. It was you that saved him.
“My, thank you for saving me. What can I do to return the favor?”
You looked at him with wonder glinting in your eyes.
“You can answer my questions. You’re a human, aren’t you? You have, uh, legs?”
He chuckled a bit before answering.
“Indeed, I do have legs and I am a human, but I’m more curious about you, my dear.”
You tilted your head at him, gesturing to him to continue.
“And you, are a mermaid, correct?”
You nodded.
“So, what do you know about us humans?”
“I heard you guys were dangerous, and supposedly, have a scary appearance. But you’re not scary…”
Not scary? Oh you naive little thing… if only you knew. He thought to himself as a little smirk grew on his face. What an interesting creature you were. He wouldn’t tell you what he had done or was capable of, oh no. That would scare you away and he was just starting to get into you.
“Is that so?”
You smiled and let out a noise of “mhm”.
You then looked at his attire again, pointing at the funny thing he was wearing.
“What’s that?”
He followed where you had your eyes on, and they landed on one of his gloved hands.
“Oh, this?” He lifted his hand up.
“It’s called a “glove”, we usually wear these to provide warmth or to protect ourselves,” he explained. He held his hand out to let you get a good look at it. Judging by the questions you had for him so far, he assumed you barely knew a thing about human society. You were naive, and he was quite amused by your curiosity.
You took his hand and held it gently, examining its design and tracing a finger to feel its texture. Unbeknownst to you, your tender touch had sent a tingle down his spine. Even through his glove, he could feel just how soft your skin was.
He was caught off guard when you pulled on his glove slightly.
“...It’s alright. You may take it off if you’d like.”
You then took his glove off and you were surprised at what you saw.
He wasn’t sure how you’d react, but judging by your expression, he could only assume you either found it interesting or disgusting. His hand was covered in many scars that he got from battles and experiments. Although he had a big ego, he silently hoped that you weren’t disgusted at it.
You looked down at your own hand before looking back at his, and placed your palm against it. As you did so, your eyes widened once more. And he was also equally as surprised as you were now. He did not expect you’d… touch his hand like that.
“Our hands… they’re not so different…” You looked at your connected palms in awe. Your hands were almost exactly the same, albeit his was bigger than yours.
“Indeed.” Was the only word he could muster out. He now found himself staring at your face, darting his eyes from one detail to another.
Your eyes… Your adorable little ears… The scales on both sides of your cheeks…
Truly, a sight to behold. So enticing, so vibrant, so perfect.
What was it that you were doing to him? He had only just met you. So why was his heart racing? Did you put a spell on him?
His thoughts were cut off when your hands left his. He was a little saddened at the loss of your warmth, but he didn’t say anything about it. You then handed his glove back to him. He took it and put it back on, muttering a “thank you”.
It was then he realized he saw a familiar accessory of his laying beside you.
“Ah, I see you’ve found my earring.”
You picked up the glowing blue tube you found earlier and showed it to him.
“You mean this? I found it when I was exploring the ocean floor. I thought it looked pretty so I took it.”
It was subtle, but he could see you were disappointed when you knew you’d have to return it.
“You could keep it if you’d like, I have more.”
What?
His mouth and mind acted on their own before he could even think. This was ridiculous. He was convinced that you put a spell on him now, what else could explain his impulsive action? But not a spell he objected to… Quite a nice one, actually.
Your eyes lit up, “Really?”
He nodded.
You were about to say something else when you saw a few more humans running up behind this man.
You gasped at their sudden appearance and without saying a word more, you retreated back into the water and swam away.
He was startled at your sudden departure and yelled.
“Wait!”
But you were already gone…
“My lord! We’ve found you!”
He turned around and a few of his underlings ran up to him.
“Are you alright, my lord? Our greatest apologies. It shouldn’t have taken us this long to find you!”
The Doctor tried to stand up again, being careful with his injured leg, he looked down at it and it was being wrapped neatly with a leaf. It must’ve been your doing when he was unconscious.
“I’m fine… Let’s just go.”
They nodded and led him back to the ship that was anchored not far from here. Before he left, however, he looked back at the ocean that you fled to in a hurry, and his hand that he could still feel a lingering warmth from you.
He didn’t even know of your name, but he knew he wanted to see you once more…
No, he needed to see you.
“Until we meet again, my dear.”

still there.
pairings: gn!reader x zombie!simon riley
warnings: mentions of disease, infections, gore, violence, alcohol and the occasional cigarette.
genre: angst, hurt/no comfort, go be happy elsewhere.
this is my first fic and by the time it’s posted, i’ve probably proofread it a million times, but feel free to correct my English as it’s not my first language and i’m not very confident.
It was the 360th day after the outbreak. Or was it the 361st? You couldn’t remember anymore. What was the point in counting the days after the most miserable, dreadful tragedy had struck and taken away the one you loved the most? You smoked one of your last cigarettes from the stock—helped take the edge off things, you told yourself. But did it ever? No.
Not when you were sat on a chair in front of the door that led down to the basement. The basement in which you still kept Simon—or whatever was left of him.
Simon. Simon Riley. Your Simon. Your Si. Your husband. The man you promised to outlive the world with.
“We are going to kick the world’s arse together, love.” Simon would whisper in your ear as he spooned you in bed. You would pretend not to hear him so he would keep talking—he was never much of a talker. But he liked to whisper sweet nothings when he thought you couldn’t hear him.
You stared at the wedding band on your finger, worn and still stuck on your phalange, though it was quite clearly too tight for you. How would you get it resized anyway? You took another drag. You heard a creak, the clankings of the chain and a grumpy grumble downstairs. Simon.
He was a veteran. After a severe injury during a torture session, which Simon never recovered from, he was honorably discharged. It took him years to even bring it up. Years to heal from it enough to open up to you about how much it hurt. To let you hold him through a nightmare about that night, his arm turning limp in your lap as if his tendon had been cut all over again, as if his arm was mangled again, his forehead, his scalp and the back of his neck and his back in general all drenched in a cold sweat. He wasn’t crying, but he was clearly disturbed, his whole body unresponsive as he leaned paralyzed against you, eyes wide as he stared into nothing with a haunted expression on his face. You just held him until he snapped out of it. Startling him out of it, as gentle as you were with it by poking him, would only make him gasp like he had come up from the ground of the ocean after a long swim; he wouldn’t speak; only shut down and go back to sleep with his back turned to you. And he wouldn’t speak to you the next morning.
Simon was infected early on into the outbreak. And you could never leave the house without him. You could never leave him. Never. You promised—you swore.
“Don’t go, please, God—not you too, please, please—” Simon scrambled out of bed as you got up from the mattress. He had a nightmare, he wasn’t entirely himself. Simon would never act this way. No; he had too much decorum. He was too reserved. Too afraid to let himself be known on a deeper level than simple pleasantries. “I need you—I, I need you. Don’t leave me. Please.” He pleaded, nearly falling off the bed as he grabbed at whatever body part of yours he could reach first to pull you back towards him. His eyes were so full of tears you didn’t even think he could see straight. He wobbled in place, unstable, dizzy. But you couldn’t leave him.
“I won’t. I promise, Simon. I just need to refill your water bottle. Do you want to come with?”
He was sick that night. Coughing like a madman, sweating, unable to breathe. He was scared. Tossing and turning in bed. As the days went by, he became less and less agitated. The fevers got higher, rendering him only half-lucid half of the time. He was bedbound for two weeks before he turned. He didn’t suffer, though. On the last two days, he was so feverish that he passed out. The color draining from his face. He was dying, and he was unable to give you any last words.
Those days were over. In a sick way, you were conflicted. On one hand, to your satisfaction, Simon wasn’t suffering anymore, but on the other, Simon wasn’t there with you anymore. Not really. Not entirely. You weren’t completely sure. It looked like Simon, if only a little bit. He was still muscular, tall and handsome as your husband always had been. The scars had changed; they had gotten uglier. Like black, decaying tissue that littered his skin, which previously had a pinkish, cool undertone, and now looked like nothing in particular. It was a grayish, sickly purple. Like no blood flowed through it, like no semblance of life was in it. Like a living corpse. His hair hadn’t grown in nearly a year, it was the same as you remembered; that shaggy haircut that you had pleaded Simon to change, but he swore it made him charming. His beard was still the same, short blond stubble, although dirtier and more unkempt.
And God, the eyes—the once beautiful brown eyes, that looked like pools of the sweetest honey in the summer sunshine in the late afternoon. Lifeless. Bloodshot like they would implode at any second. But there was no blood flowing—of course there wasn’t. He was dead There was no other color on his face. His complexion was pale and sickly. There was no color on his lips. The freckles looked blueish on his skin. If there was any blood flowing, you would have noticed at least a little bit of color, you figured.
Rationally, you knew, he was dead. Gone. He didn’t remember you. He didn’t know his own name; at least not until you called it. He would make a full body turn if you called him his full name, “Simon Riley!”, all angry as if you could ever be mad at him, and yet you knew deep down—it was nothing. It wasn’t Simon. It was a muscle memory response, devoid of any meaning. He didn’t understand what those words meant.
But God, was it hard to believe he wasn’t there. You watched him throughout the day sometimes. Checked on him. Brought him food. As if you would hear a soft ‘thank you’ in his Mancunian accent. As if he would give you a kiss on the cheek if you made his favorite meal to please him. He didn’t. There was no whisper, and there was no kiss on the cheek with those chapped lips that you begged him to moisturize. He just stared at it with a hollow hunger. Like he was hungry but couldn’t feel hunger. Because he was dead. And eventually, he crouched and ate it with his bare hands like some kind of animal.
You are watering a dead plant, a rational part of you told you, seeing your husband that way. So careless, so animalistic in a way Simon could never be if he were still alive. He wasn’t some refined bourgeoisie asshole, but he had manners, at least. Simon wouldn’t act this way.
He’s dead. And you knew it was right. You watched with tears in your eyes as he ate up the food you made him with his bare hands, spilling and dirtying his grimy hands like a toddler who couldn’t hold a spoon properly. Simon would never. He didn’t like you touching his face to wipe away crumbs. He’d gently push your hand off his face, grumbling about how he was “a big boy” who could wipe the crumbs off on his own, in front of a mirror. He would never be caught dead like this. Yet there he was, you supposed.
You rushed upstairs and left Simon to his own devices in the basement, which you had worked tirelessly on to convert it to a bedroom. You gave him an old, creaky bed even if you knew he didn’t need to sleep anymore. You cleaned the basement from time to time. All to make him comfortable. As if he would notice.
You slammed the door shut and locked it from the outside, then the two padlocks and the lock you had placed to bolt that door to the ground.
Damn it—damn the world for taking him away and leaving you with this husk of who he was, a shell of his former self. This God forsaken decoy of Simon, that still smelled like him. Like gunpowder, cigarettes and neat whiskey. His favorite cologne was still on that fucking sweater. His favorite sweater, a black turtleneck that clinged to his waist just right. It was filthy now.
You could watch him all you want. Watch him idly stand in the middle of the basement and stare at nothing, watch him try to pull on the chain that you attached to his ankle so he could be free to eat you alive. But it was never the same.
Sometimes you would be able to make out words that Simon would say a lot, being grumbled clumsily by this doppelganger of your husband, which was falling apart where it stood. “Jo—hnny.” “Capt—ain.” “Rog—er.” “C—–opy.” “L–love.” “Lo—vie.” “Watch.” Sometimes it would laugh exactly like Simon did. Sometimes it would say some strange nothings, as if trying to tell you something. Sometimes, if it heard a familiar sound, it would mimic Simon’s mannerisms as if practicedly. If the safety of a gun clicked, Simon would pull out an inexistent gun and pull the trigger, or pretend to assemble and reload a rifle. If a phone rang, he would wait for the third ring before reaching for his pocket and picking an imaginary phone up, the way Simon did when he was there, grumbling something about “if they’re calling despite being ignored, it must really matter,” calling it filtering his calls. If the microwave rang as you were heating up food, he would grab an imaginary dish and pretend to burn himself with it as he stubbornly never wore gloves to pick up boiling hot dishes. The stunt double had gotten him down to A T.
And the worst part was that it was enough for you.
It was enough for you to install traps all around the house, keep Simon strung up in your basement and throw down meals for him, sometimes live animals for him to tear up like a starving wild dog.
Simon had tried to bite you more times than you could count; but you had forgiven him each and every time. You didn’t hold a grudge. You told him you still loved him. You told him he was still your Simon. That he was beautiful. You wept as you asked him not to be afraid—as if he felt anything at all. You didn’t know if he did. In your head he did.
You sometimes heard him beg for help as he babbled incoherently, his Mancunian accent alive and well, his voice and speech getting worse and worse each day. He sounded more incoherent as the days went by, more animalistic. The words slowly became animalistic nothings, growls and grumbles that meant nothing. He was rotting from the inside out, decaying and perishing right before your very eyes. The longer you waited, the more the virus consumed what was left of Simon. Each day he smelled worse. You bathed him, of course. But it didn’t go away, the stomach-turning smell of rotting flesh. You tried to get him to brush his teeth, but nothing could mask the smell. Not even if you bathed him in his cologne.
But the fact that the zombie looked like him and sometimes sounded like him was enough for you. Putting it that way, it sounds sick, but it justified all of the work you had put in. It was enough to keep you hopeful, keep you thinking—or rather, fooling yourself into thinking—that there was still a way to bring him back, enough to keep you praying on your bedside each night, begging to have your Simon back. You were absolutely confident he was still there to some extent. That it was just a matter of time before someone found a cure and you and Simon would be free of this hell.
Free to kick the world’s arse together. The way he had intended. Until then, you were rotting in this farmhouse. Until Simon came back to you. Until your last cigarette was finished. Until the last tooth decayed and fell from his putrid mouth.

Sniffer looked up to find himself trapped between blocks of bedrock, for the fourth time this week. Unlike the last three times, this time he also had a note between his fingers; his own handwriting. It said “STOP BEING A COWARD”.
He sighed. Like usual, his past self's intentions were a mystery; it didn't matter how brave or cowardly he was about it, he couldn't get out of this hole without Piglin's help. There was a hole above him that he could squeeze through, but it was too high up to reach, and the crevasse he was in was too narrow to open his elytra. If he had water, he'd be able to swim out, but as usual, he'd forgotten to bring a bucket with him. So he did the only thing he could; grabbed his chat.
<SnifferMyFeet> piglin
<SnifferMyFeet> im stuck again
<PiglinMyNose> LOL
<SnifferMyFeet> get me out
<PiglinMyNose> What's the magic word?
<SnifferMyFeet> i hate you
<SnifferMyFeet> please
<PiglinMyNose> Coming over :-)
Now there wasn't much else for Sniffer to do than wait for rescue. Piglin would show up... eventually. It was impossible to predict how long that'd take. Maybe he'd be over immediately; or maybe he'd have an accident, forget he was supposed to do something, and leave Sniffer in this hole for another three days. Last time he nearly starved to death. Maybe he should do that on purpose next time; maybe that'd shake his memories into place enough to figure out what he was doing here.
Not today, though; he heard Piglin descending into the quarry, and Piglin arriving in a timely manner anywhere was a miraculous enough occurrence that he didn't want to let it go to waste. “Over here!” he yelled towards him, but Piglin was already approaching.
“I know, I know. You always get stuck in the same place,” he said, grinning. “Have you found out anything interesting about that hole yet?” He was pronouncing all his r's today.
“No- well, there must be something, or I wouldn't keep going here, but I keep forgetting what.” That was a problem he and Piglin shared; whenever they got fatally injured, or hit their heads, or even just got spooked badly, their memories would go out of the window and they'd wake up hours or days later in some random situation with no clue how they got there. “Did I tell you why I went over here, maybe?”
“You did say something, actually. Something like... 'I'm going to figure out what's on the other side of that hole', I think. Not going so well, though, is it?”
“The other side? There isn't any other side!” Sniffer twisted around to gesture behind him. “There's just a bunch of spiky rock...” he trailed off as he noticed something.
The crevasse extended outwards a little near his feet. It was mostly more bedrock, but just a little distance away, the rock gave way to pure blackness, like looking down into a massive cavern.
How have I never seen that before? Sniffer thought to himself, but immediately corrected himself; he obviously had seen it before, which is why he kept going into this hole.
“There is something here,” he said to Piglin. “Drop down the water. I'm gonna go deeper into the hole.”
“That's what she said,” he heard Piglin hiss behind him. Sniffer whirled around to face him and took a swipe at his legs with his sword; Piglin dodged it, but he yelped anyways, cutting off his giggle. Sniffer snorted.
“You're being awfully rude for someone who needs my help,” Piglin said, clutching a bucket of water to his chest.
“I'm sorry, alright? Just give me the water.”
Instead of just giving him the bucket, Piglin decided to splash the water directly into Sniffer's face, creating a source block right where he was standing. Annoying, but it'd work. Sniffer held his breath as he turned around in the water, then ducked into the opening in the bedrock. The darkness got closer-
And suddenly Sniffer was dropping downwards. The water flowed straight down, and he barely managed to stay afloat in it. He looked around.
There was nothing under the bedrock. Not a big cave, no lava, no monsters, just endless blackness in all directions. The world border wasn't even here, Sniffer realised. The two of them had gotten used to the shining blue barrier always being visible in the distance, but now, there seemed to be nothing obstructing the way in any direction.
Sniffer swallowed hard. It looked a bit like the End; and if it was anything like the End, he'd be respawning if he went too far down, and this was a very inconvenient time and place to respawn. So he grabbed his rockets, spread his elytra and glided away from the water. It was hard to breathe down here; and it seemed to get harder the further down he went, so he stayed close to the bedrock ceiling looming above. He flew a few circles in the dark space, but he was anxious to go far; something about this place gave him the creeps, not to mention the fact he only had limited rockets with him. After a minute or so, he decided he'd had enough. He turned back towards the hole letting light through the bedrock, and he nearly flew up into it when he noticed the water that Piglin had sent down, flowing out... elsewhere, a few yards away.
There was another hole in the bedrock. Sniffer had completely lost track of his directions by now, so he had no idea where this hole would lead him. He continued circling, and considered. Piglin would probably be worried if he didn't come back up soon... but his curiosity was burning.
Sorry, Piglin, Sniffer thought as he lit a rocket and maneuvered upward, flying through the second gap.
* * * * *
Sniffer rubbed the sore spot on his head; seems like he'd hit his head on something while flying. Right, time to figure out what he was up to before that moment. He was in-
Wait, where on earth was he?
He was in a square, industrial-looking room with no windows and not a speck of colour. It didn't look familiar to him at all. He definitely didn't build this, and he was fairly certain Piglin hadn't built it either. He looked at the floor, and shied away a few blocks; there was a hole in the floor leading to what looked like a very dark cave.
Oh, he suddenly thought, the hole in the bedrock! He'd flown into the crevasse, but that was all he could remember before the blackout. But is seemed like he'd actually gone through the hole this time, and found... whatever this is, on the other side. Well, he wasn't about to let this opportunity go; it was time to explore. He left the room through a doorway with no door installed. It led into a stairway, similarly square and colourless. Whoever built this place could really use some lessons in decorating, Sniffer thought.
At the top of the stairway was another empty doorframe leading into a bigger room, and Sniffer's eyes were immediately pulled to a window revealing some actual colour for a change. The giant window looked out onto a body of water. In the distance, he could see a shore leading into a plains biome, with some structures-
Not just any structures. That was Piglin's house. And more to the left, he could see his own house. It looked terrible from this angle, he noticed. Hadn't he ever approached it from... no, he hadn't, because he suddenly realised where he was located: behind the world border.
Sniffer's heart began beating faster. There were people on the other side of the border? And they were watching him and Pig? He'd never seen this structure he was in before, and he'd gazed longingly through the border countless times. What was going on here? At this point he turned his attention to the smaller monitor in front of the window.
PROJECT SALMACIS
<SUBJECT 1>
<SUBJECT 2>
Project Salmacis? Sniffer had no idea what that was. He tapped the first button.
The screen suddenly showed a picture of himself, and a table of a bunch of incomprehensible information.
SnifferMyFeet
Components: <Grian> + <Smallishbeans>
COHESION INDEX: 4/9
Observations:
- dominant personality switches upon respawn or force to subject's head.
- subject speaks with meld of components' accents.
- PvP skill markedly increased from that of both components.
“Well I appreciate the compliment, but... what?” components? Cohesion? Dominant personality? What was any of this about? He decided to tap the name of one of the components, 'Grian'.
The screen now showed another picture of himself, with... actually, that wasn't him at all! The left half of the figure's face matched his own, but the right half seemed to be some twisted mirror image of the left half. Sniffer yelped in surprise at the disturbing picture, and quickly tapped a symbol in the corner of the screen which thankfully was indeed a 'back' button. There was a bunch of text on that panel too, but he had no interest in learning about whoever-- whatever-- that was.
He was about to go check out what these mysterious observers had to say about Piglin, when suddenly he heard something shatter behind him.
Sniffer spun around to see a cloaked figure standing in the doorway of the room. Next to them on the floor were the remains of a mug and a strange magenta stain, from which wafted the smell of... schadenfreude? That made no sense, but it was the only way Sniffer could explain the smell.
The two of them stared awkwardly at each other for a few seconds before Sniffer spoke up. “Alright, who are you and why are you stalking me and Pig?” he said.
“...You do not belong here,” the figure replied. Their voice echoed strangely, which might have been intimidating if Sniffer couldn't see the confusion plain on their face-- which was entirely grayscale, but otherwise unremarkable. “You were not meant to cross the threshold.”
“Well, I did.” Sniffer took his sword from his hotbar into his hand.
“You know, it says here my PvP skills have improved a lot... you wanna put that to the test?”
Then he charged, and the cloaked figure turned around and ran back into the stairwell. Sniffer gave chase, and closed the distance easily though; the figure's cloak got in the way of their legs, and Sniffer got the sense they weren't exactly used to hurrying. He jumped the last few meters, and raised his sword to plunge it into the figure's neck--
The figure spun around to face Sniffer. His sword pierced their eye and it exploded into more colours than he'd seen anywhere in this place, more colours than he'd seen his entire life-- then white.
* * *
Sniffer respawned in his bed, and almost immediately heard fireworks signaling Piglin's approach.
“Come on, dude, you couldn't have been a bit more careful?” he heard Piglin yell from outside as he went down the stairs. Piglin beat him to the front door, and barged inside. “Now we still don't know what's under there!”
“Under... the bedrock, you mean?” Sniffer replied. “No, I remember that bit, actually. It was just... darkness. Like in the End, but there were no islands anywhere.”
“Oh. Well that explains the death message, at least. Do you remember what happened next?”
“Yeah, I saw another hole in the bedrock, different from where I went down, and I tried to go up it, and... that's where I black out. Weird that I remember all this, if I just respawned right here...”
“Maybe you hit your head on the bedrock, then died falling down?” Piglin suggested. “Now I'm curious what's in that other hole, though.”
“Yeah, maybe...” Sniffer pondered for a few seconds, then waved his hand dismissively.
“Probably just another cave. I wouldn't worry about it.”

Title: That kind of feeling, I’ve waited so long. Fandom: an extremely goofy movie Paring: Maxley Summary: Bradley is mermaid and Max finds out, with him other than tank being the only one to know will this be devastating or will work out perfectly fine?
author’s note: i need to be euthanised this took me three days in in total to write i hope you enjoy 🫶🫶🫶 (i used daft punk lyrics from the song digital love for tittle btw)
There was always something off about mom she hated getting wet but she always looked longingly at the ocean, she hated eating seafood and when my father ate it she stared at him; the look behind her eyes was like he killed a friend or something, me and my sisters were not allowed to go in the water, bathing and pools were fine but the ocean and lakes well you’d get a look and pulled away. She never told us why, and would stay completely quiet and reserved if we asked boring holes into your eyes with hers until you walked away and father would huff as you did.
I feel like saying all of this is making it seem as if I disliked my mom, and I don’t I loved her more than anything. I was definitely what people call a “mama’s boy” and I am not ashamed in the least of this notion. She was always my favourite she didn’t yell if I messed up or came home untidy from playing in the yard, she just smiled fondly and helped clean me up, she found it cute when I played with her clothes and makeup to make myself look more like her. I look like my dad the most, I hate it. My older sisters look like her and I got the shit end of the stick, all I got was her eyes I wish I got more. Mom talked my father into letting me dye my hair blonde like hers it took months but it’s blonde now I really like it.
She was the best, but she lied. Lied about what dad did to her, lied that she was okay, lied about well I guess she didn’t lie about that but she did keep it from us, from me. Because he made her, who the fuck marries a mermaid and then makes them keep it to themselves that, that’s what they are anyway? Well he does I guess, it’s part of his superiorly complex or something. The knowledge that he has one of the most beautiful mythical creatures under his thumb and that he’s the only one who knows it. I was fifteen when I found out I had woken up and there was six strange lines on my body I noticed while showering, two on my forearms, two on the upper and two on the sides of my neck completely symmetrical. I went to my mom after and she didn’t say a word she just held her breath and looked at them studying them almost.
She did something I never thought she’d do, she took me to the lake the one our dad always fished on. The one we were never allowed to go near and told me to get in the water. I trusted my mother with my life so I did as she said and was scared but I did it she was right behind me as I walked in I didn’t know how to swim obviously but right as I was submerged and about to not be able to touch the bottom, she put her hands around my waist held me close and told me to take a deep breath, I did and she dove down into the lake with me in her arms. I won’t lie it was some magical girl shit but it was amazing the lines on my arms and I can only assume my neck two opened up and there was this weird fish fin like thing that came out my legs felt weird like they were stuck together but it wasn’t uncomfortable it felt, right almost.
And it was because I was just like her, like my mother, a fucking mermaid. Jesus this is insane to say, it’s been three years since that happened. I’ve graduated high school and I’m on my way to collage, at least mom got to see that. She got to go to my high school graduation but she’ll never see anything else she passed a few months ago, stroke while she was asleep we were too late.
The alarm blared and sun came through the curtains on the window. I feel like shit, it was 10:25 I had and hour before my classes started now, do I go back to sleep for half an hour and show up looking like I crawled out of the ocean or do I take a shower and get ready? It doesn’t matter that much as since I started a fire at the X Games, attempted to cheat, got caught and almost killed Tank and that damn freshman (now sophomore) a few months ago everyone pretty much hates me and doesn’t give a shit anymore…back to bed for half an hour it is. I laid back down and was about to fall back asleep when there was a knock at the door. Crap it was Thursday, Thursday was when everyone in the Gamma fraternity woke up at the same time and went down stairs for an…intervention of sorts to make sure no one is quote end quote “loosing it” no one says it (at least out loud) but, I know I’m reason.
I was so scared of loosing the games and so stressed about failing that I cheated and almost killed people. It’s a no bullshit space no matter what you say it has to stay in the house, no one can laugh, no one can judge it. It’s so fucking scary. I trudged down the stairs I was the last one just my luck, there was one space left a lonely chair almost in the dead centre of the room ooh how riveting. Tank always started by saying good morning to everyone like some group therapist and we always went by order of names first not last, i was third first was Aaron and the Aidan then me.
The two had relatively normal lives, Aaron got a gift basket from his mom as a ‘just because’ and Aidan had been having some trouble with his partner something about them being stressed over a test and him trying to help but it not going very well. Now for the grand show my turn I sighed as I worked up the courage, Tank was starting to forgive me and the others knew my family my father in particular. Save the amount of times they heard him yell at me and call me a horrible son for petty shit, so even though I didn’t deserve it they were sympathetic, rightfully upset still but sympathetic nonetheless. “My…” I took a breath, “My mom’s death anniversary is coming up in a few days, so I’m not doing the best.” I looked down the whole time my tail in between my legs and ears hanging lower than usual. Tank put his hand on my shoulder and spoke “on the day of I’ll tell the teachers you’re sick so you can go to the beach like you always do.” He smiled softly and winked after he finished he was the only one who knew.
I’ve known him since grade school when, “it” happened I convinced him to skip classes with me to go to the water I jumped in and showed him, he was definitely freaked at first but after it settled in his mind he thought it was cool. The other Gammas went the only other person who had an actual story was James he’s pretty new but he’s nice, his grandma called yesterday to tell him the cat died and he would be leaving for home in a few days to spend time with his family and reminisce. I wish my family was happy enough for that we don’t even get together for my moms death hence me going to the beach…alone well among other things. Two days, just get through two days then you go to the beach.
Surprisingly it did go by fast but whether that’s because I have a bad conception of time or because I spaced out for two days who knows, but finally I could go. I grabbed my bag it had some spare clothes, something to eat and another smaller bag to actually take down into the water with me. I walked to the beach and just like always there was no one there. I’ve noticed that if a collage student is going to skip class it because they need a mental day so they stay home instead of going out to party or hang out with friends like in high school.
I started to take my pants off when I heard foot steps I froze and turned my head it was. You have got to be fucking kidding me. Max Goof of all the people, him. Y’know what fuck him, fuck him. I am here for my mom and I am not going to let him ruin this plus he’s a little farther down and by himself, if I stay quiet he shouldn’t see me. I continued to undress myself and dove into the water, it was cold but I was used to it I felt the changes and then took a deep breath in I sat there for a few seconds before realising someone was…calling my name well a dumbass shortened version. I huffed and swam back up if he thinks I drowned he’ll definitely come down here.
I popped the very top of my head out and tried to keep the movement of my tail just enough to keep me up “what?” I said sharply, “Sooo the goody two shoes skipping? Tank said you were sick.” Of course he did. “I am sick, sick of this conversation.” I said as a matter of factly, “already? It just started…brad.” I hate this kid so much and it’s not even because of the X Games anymore he just gets on my nerves with his dumbass sense of humour, and stupid big doe eyes, and, and pretty long eyelashes, wait- what the fuck i am saying? God I’m creepy.
“Brad?” He took me from my thoughts “I told you not to call me that!” I yelled “why do you hate it so much?” He asked I thought about it, well I was trying to be open but with him? Ugh who cares, “it’s what people call my father, so I don’t like it.” he stared at me “what?! You asked!” I yelled again. “I know, I know I just wasn’t expecting an actual answer.” He put his hands up defensively I rolled my eyes I contemplated diving back in the water but if I did he’d see, but do I really care no one would believe him if he tried to tell anyway. “So” he started again “what are you doing here” that’s a dumbass question I muttered “what does it look like? Swimming” I said at full volume this time “well i know that but, why?” So so many stupid questions I groaned inside the comfort of my head “if you must know, my mom passed away five years ago today and we always swam together so, yeah.”
He looked surprised at my transparency, which is fair I’ve been pretty mean to him this last year. “Wow, um that’s I’m sorry I wasn’t expecting that.” “Yeah no one does.” He looked at me, like really looked at me and. Wait, why are his eyes looking at my neck, oh shit. Busted, fuck “well uh I should uh, I should go now. Like right now, bye!” And then I did the single most stupidest thing I’ve ever done in my life…well in the last three months, I shot myself out of the water and dove back down. There’s a chance that he didn’t see the 5 foot pink tail…right?
I heard the sound of water splashing behind me, shit. This is why I hate him, he makes me clumsy in my 23 years of living I have never let anything slip and in the 8 years of that I’ve been like this no one has found out because of a clumsy mistake like that. I stopped swimming and turned around he was following me, of course he was I sat there watching him slowly but surely make his way to me I lifted my arm to point behind him and sternly said “go” he just kept swimming and I know he saw me as he was making eye contact with me as he slowly continued to swim forward.
I decided to keep going thinking he’d run out of air and have to bail, I was wrong we’ve been down here for almost a minute impressive but annoying. I finally turned again to shriek out “stop following me!!” He looked at me face full of determination and made one swift shove forward in the water far enough to reach out quickly and grab the base of my tail he pointed to the surface jabbing his finger up as he made a stern face I shook my head and started thrashing to try and get him to let go and leave me alone.
Just to my luck I slapped him with my fin hard enough to make his mouth open within seconds he let go starting to choke from lack of oxygen and tried to make it up he would never make it I sighed loudly before grabbing him and at full speed swimming up when we got up he gasped for air and I started swimming to the rock where this shit show started, I lifted him up onto it and he continued to gasp. I crossed my arms and laid them down onto the rock and laid my head down on them promptly after, when the gasping stopped I looked up just to enough to uncover my eyes. He was just staring, “you good” I tried it was muffled but not so much that he couldn’t hear me, nothing, “you know it’s rude stare no matter the reason?!” I was starting to loose my patience, again. “Okay well if you’re gonna sit there like a dipstick I’m gonna go” I lifted my head up all the way and started to turn. “Wait!” I stoped and looked at him expectingly “I just, i don’t know, I” I huffed and it looked like he was trying think of what to say. I felt cocky and decided to act full of myself I plastered my usual nasty ass smirk on my face and said “what? Left speechless by my breathtaking beauty?” He looked up slowly “kinda yeah, actually.”
Okay wasn’t expecting that but whatever, I lifted myself up fully onto the rock and laid on my stomach “yeah I tend to have that effect on people.” He smiled slightly before opening his mouth to speak “how, like how?” He gestured to my tail. I looked back and swished it slightly back and forth “I, I honestly don’t know. I mean I know it comes from my mom but that’s all I know I never asked her what her story was, I always thought if she left it was for good reason, especially because my father wasn’t always bitter so I know he didn’t threaten anyone or anything.” I looked back over to him he looked mesmerised, it was kind of cute actually. “Any other questions?” I teased, he looked at me and said “yeah but I feel like you’ll slap me.” I smirked again “eh go for it, I’m feeling gracious.” He smirked back and narrowed his eyes while raising his eye brows, well i don’t like that look. Not one fucking bit. Wait is he gonna ask- “where’s your junk go?” My face dropped and his just got impossibly more smug “you’re right I am gonna slap you for that” I got off my stomach and sat up right lifting my tail to the side of his face before raising my hand as well and asking “You want the tail or my hand?”
He started laughing and his eyes trailed down my tail before landing on the slit in the middle of my tail at the top right below my bellybutton, I jolted up and shoved hands in front of it “okay buddy that’s enough of that creep!” He doubled forward laughing, I felt the heat rise in my face. Yep he thought this was hilarious. I looked at him dead in the eyes and with an unamused expression asked “what? You want a mermaid sex ed lesson or something?!” His laughing subsided and he said “on the prospect of being genuinely curious, yes.” He paused “on the prospect of it coming from you? No.”
“What you think I’m not good enough to teach you or something?!” God why am I so competitive INreally gotta put the shovel down bc this hole is just getting deeper. He chuckled and looked at me almost, fondly? No that’s not what that was it couldn’t be. “You’re kinda cute when your flustered” I was about to answer with what I don’t quite know but i was interrupted by a tingling in my legs I looked down the colour was starting to fade meaning I was drying and my legs would be back soon, I look over to where my bag was and tried to start reaching for it “what wrong?” Max asked. I looked over and said “I’m drying so unless you want to see me naked I suggest you help me grab my bag.” He looked like he was trying to fight off a smirk, he better fucking not do what it looks like he’s thinking about doing. Unfortunately he doesn’t hands me my bag- wait, unfortunately? Where the fuck did that come from? He hands me the bag but his face still says he wanted to keep it from me, ugh I can’t tell if I’m delusional, paranoid, both or neither.
As I grab my clothes my tail continues to thin until my legs are back I quickly pull my pants on and pretend not to notice Max leering at me every now and then. I look up and he pretends he was turned around the whole time I almost want to say something just to tease him but, we’re getting along right now I don’t want to ruin it.
I stared at the ceiling it was 1:23 it was still dark out Max was probably asleep, we had the same english class so I knew his first class was 13:30. He was actually really smart, as my English class is a senior level class. Thursday was nice actually, it was the first time on my mom’s death day I actually felt consoled, happy even. yesterday me and Max actually smiled at each other in hall. He gave me his number and told me to text him if I ever wanted him for anything. would I seem like a freak if I texted him now? I checked the clock only a minute had passed, well here’s to hoping he sleeps with his ringer off.
max🛹
hey, would you want to go to the beach with me? as in now if you’re not sleeping that is.
sure gimme a sec 2 put a shirt on
oh he answered immediately, of course he texts like that. Wait, he sleeps shirtless- no no no, don’t go there Bradley that’s creepy, I sighed and flipped my phone shut, I started walking to the beach, when I arrived he wasn’t there yet so I undressed and dove in. A few moments later I heard foot steps when I looked up it was Max he was wearing his usual red shirt with a pair blue board shorts. He smiled at me and sat down two towels, he shucked his sandals off pulled his shirt off and slid in. Eyes up there Bradley don’t you dare, he was the first to speak “So, what’s up?” I cocked my head slightly “What?” he chuckled “Well you asked me to come, so I thought maybe something was wrong.”
“No, nothing’s wrong. I was just- as stupid as it is, lonely I was…lonely” he smiled, “that’s not stupid, kinda sweet actually. And shows you have changed, in a good way” I raised my eyebrow “I just mean, because last year you would have never called or texted me to hang out with you when you were lonely, you hated me and now here you are. You’re nice to be around now.” He finished I looked off across the the horizon line “I didn’t hate you.” I muttered “what?”
I sighed and looked back at him “I didn’t hate you” I said again louder this time, “oh” he said lamely. I sighed a second time “I admi- I was, ugh. I thought you were cool. And yeah I had a really, really shitty way of showing it but-“ “the shittiest” he cut me off. “Shut up! I’m trying to be sincere for once!” He giggled and I continued. “When I first saw you I thought you looked cool and you were, are good at skateboarding. So I decided to follow you and I did, I asked you join the Gammas and you said no. And that was embarrassing to me because you were this really cute guy and you did something not a lot of people did and that was say no to me. And on top of that you made fun of me a bit but the point I’m making is-“ “you think I’m cute?” He stared at me, I stoped and froze.
I. Did not. Just say that. Every instinct I had just kept screaming ‘Deny! Deny! Deny!’ But for some reason as I continued to stare back at him all I could stutter out was “Is, is that o-okay?” He let a breathy chuckle and smirked as he said “So what I’m hearing is, you had a crush on me and were pulling my pig tails like a toddler.” He teased I felt the heat rise in my cheeks and the butterflies pool in my stomach. I just stared at him I had nothing, no sarcastic comment, no mean comeback I’d kick myself in the ass for later, nothing. All I had was the truth, for once. “I, I suppose so”
I started to back up in the water slowly, I quickly said “I’m sorry that’s probably insanely creepy, I was horrible to you for a year hell I almost killed you and now I’m here and throwing that at you and-“ he grabbed my wrists and held me where I was, “no, you’re just shit at feelings.” He had a stupidly cute shit eating grin on his face. “I guess that’s one way to put it, but it’s still not an excuse” I muttered, when had he pulled me so close?! “Never said it was.” He muttered back.
We sat there in silence for a few minutes, I’m 80% sure he had been using me as a buoy at this point but I found myself unable to care in this moment. His eyes flickered down to my lips “kiss me.” I started to lean forward, “What a gentlemanly way to ask.” I said closing the distance before he could say something in return. We stayed like that until we couldn’t breath, when we pulled apart he peppered a few light kisses in the crook of my neck. “So now that I kissed you is some weird mermaid shit gonna happened” he asked stupidly “yeah, you’re gonna sprout gills and turn into a guppy fish so I can keep you with me forever.” I replied “Sweet.” He said with a tone that can only be taken as fondly as he continued to lay his lips lightly on my neck and collarbone.
This was peaceful, the cool water, my tail and his legs brushing against one another slightly entangling every now and then, and his arms on my waist mine around his neck holding him as close as possible. I sighed and for the first time in a while it was out of content, until he stoped to leaned back slightly and peer downward at the water I looked at him confused until he said
“So that’s where your junk goes.”

Hi! Can I request Ari x reader where she has a similar injury and he’s helping her through it? Maybe she’s feeling really down and lonely and he just talks with her
You go I go || Ari Gibson x Reader
Summary: after going to stairway with summer you end up in a hospital bed unsure if you will ever be able to surf again and your boyfriend is right by your side.
⚠️Warnings⚠️ Almost drowning, paralyzed, not proof read, like 1 swear word
AN: Sorry for the wait there’s been a lot going on. Anyways hope you enjoy!
“Hey summer, what are you doing?” You said as you approached her after watching her interaction with Honey.
“Nothing don’t worry about it.” She responded and continued to get her surf board out of the car. You continue to lean against the car and as she closes the boot (trunk for non-aussies) you lift up your surf board showing her.
“I know you’re going to surf stairway, so I’m coming with you.” You said before walking off. “What! No YN I can’t let you do that. Ari would kill me if he found out!” She tried to pull you back but you continued.
“Summer I know you probably don’t see it but you are one of my best friends so if you surf stairway, I surf stairway too.” She knew she wouldn’t be able to change your mind for the short time that she knew you she learnt very quickly that you are very stubborn.
“ok, come on. If we’re going to do this we have to leave now.” And with that you both took off towards stair way. But unknown to you where two things one was that your boyfriend was also on his way to stair way and two you had just made a big mistake that would soon make you wish you never went.
**
After a very long and exhausting hike to stairway you finally made it. You were waxing your board when you heard steps behind you. “Hello boys.” You heard Summer say as you turned your head to see your boyfriend Ari and his best friend Marlon.
“Summer? YN? What are you doing here?” Ari called out you held your board tight to your side decoding it would be best if you let Ari and Summer work this out but she remained quiet. “you talked to Margo didn’t you? What did she tell you?” He continued. “This is crazy” he said when he still didn’t get a response. Summer started looking down the cliff and when you looked to you saw just how far a jump it was and you started to get nervous.
“Let’s all just go home.” Marlon spoke up. “Yeah we’re going home. Come on YN, Summer? SUMMER!” Ari started screaming when Summer threw her board into the water. You took a deep breath and followed her actions.
For the few seconds that you were in the air you heard Ari and Marlon screaming out after you guys. You hit the cold water and then you felt it. A sharp stab in your back. At first you thought it was from hitting the water but when you tried to swim you couldn’t.
You couldn’t even tell which way was up and which was down. Your vision was blurry from the water but then you realized you were running out of air.
You felt light headed blackness started to crowd your vision the last thing you saw before you passed out was Ari reaching for you.
**
It had been a week since the incident and you hadn’t talked to anyone with the exception of your parents and the doctors. Summer and Ari tried reaching out but you didn’t want them to see you like this. You felt weak and so stupid for jumping.
Your parents had tried to get you to talk with Ari but you always declined. You knew he would understand of course he would he went through the exact same thing but you couldn’t bare to look at him. He tried to stop you and you didn’t listen, you saw his scar and you promised him that you wouldn’t go jumping at stairway and you did anyway.
You heard a knock at the door interrupting your thoughts. You couldn’t really get out of bed to see who was at the door when you jumped you didn’t go out far enough so when you entered the water there where a bunch of rocks waiting to welcome you. And you ended up paralyzed from your legs down but the doctor said that you would be able to learn how to walk again as soon as your stitches heal.
“Hello?” You could recognize that voice anywhere you didn’t know what he was doing here but you knew that you would have to face him sooner or later.
“In here.” You called back and soon you were staring at your boyfriend. Ari. “Hey Ari.. How are you?”
“Seriously!.. You almost died and you’re asking me how I am?” He yelled causing you to flinch slightly at his voice. “You promised me you wouldn’t surf Stairway. You almost died I had to pull you out of the water! and now you’re fucking paralyzed! Did they tell you that if you had been under the water for a few more minutes you’d be dead!” You froze they didn’t tell you that.
He must have seen the look on your face because his expression softened. “I’m sorry I shouldn’t have raised my voice” he spoke softly as he sat done next to you wrapping his arms around you and pulling you into his chest holding you tight.
“I’m sorry, I’m so so sorry. I shouldn’t have gon-“ You started but Ari shushed you “Stop it’s ok. You did it for Summer. And no matter what I’m always going to be here for you. I love you” he said kissing the top of your head.
“I love you too”

Teammate: Too Deep (chapter 4) (Final chapter)
Pairing: Hazel Callahan x Reader
Summary: You told Hazel what's wrong and she had an idea to cheer you up.
Warnings: +18 themes, swearing, some water makeout
Chapters: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3
Song Recommendation: Heaven Is A Place On Earth-Belinda Carlisle
Hazel was devastated to see you with red, puffy eyes.
"Honey, What's wrong?" She cupped your face with both of her hands with a worried expression.
"Nothing."
"Y/N. It's me. You can tell me, baby..."
So you told her what happened before.
"Fuck those bitches! "
You looked up to her with a shocked face. That was the first time you witnessed to her swearing.
You chuckled and then she chuckled.
Her hand reached for yours and held it before she put it on her chest.
"You are mine and I am yours. What others think has no importance. "
You hugged her tightly as she gave you a peck on your forehead.
She pulled your hand lightly. "Come on."
You raised your brow with a confused expression. "What? "
"Let's go for a swim." She chirped.
"Hazel, we swim three times a week." You looked at her with a deadpanned expression.
"Yeah. With a schedule." she huffed and pulled your hand again.
You didn't know what she had in mind but you went for it anyway.
...
You sneaked into the pool which was empty. It wasn't allowed to swim unless you scheduled before but you were in the team so If it was empty and said it was for practice exceptions could be made.
Hazel jumped to the middle of the pool by curling up like a ball. Water splashed around and you grinned. She came to the surface with a smile.
"Look, I made a water bomb out of me." she said which made you laugh.
"You are already bomb, baby." you winked and jumped to the water.
You saw her blushing under the dim light coming from the other room.
You were both smiling like idiots in love and no one could deny If only they saw you like this.
"Hazel."
She moved closer to you, not breaking eye contact and you took that as a sign and pecked her lips.
She grinned and she pecked your lips. It turned out to be a makeout session in the pool. You broke the kiss and she looked at you with sad puppy eyes.
You dived into water and pulled her leg deeper under the water. She freed you from herself and now had a playful smirk on her face.
She grabbed you by the waist and pulled you to the surface. She held you by pressing your back to her chest. Her back was pressed against to the pool's wall. It was so comfortable being like that in water. Her arms wrapped around yours, she pecked your shoulder before she rested her head on it.
She started caressing your arms a with her hands.
"Yes, honey."
"I love you. "
Her gaze softened after a slight shock.
"I love you too, baby." Her smile met her eyes.
You turned your head to say it one more time with your eyes too and she said it back.
You pressed your foreheads eyes closed.
You felt so lucky to have her, to be in here, to share this moment.
All of a sudden lights of the pool opened.
The janitor came in.
"Girls! Get out of the water." he tried to put a serious face on.
You both snorted and laughed as you left the pool.
