Hello,

It’s nice to see you more active on here at the moment.

I was thinking about how you tend to say that the bi-bros who lean towards Sam are more in line with the GA.

But, I watch lots of reactors watch SPN for the first time, and they often lean towards Dean (I’d say 3/5), and I’ve heard a similar ratio say that they think Jensen is a noticeably better actor than Jared.

So, my questions are, are they letting fan expectations colour their reactions (hellers and Dean girls are very fast to pounce on new reactors), are they already Destiel curious from seeing edits in tumblr (I know of at least one who fits this), or do they acquaint “they make me feel emotional therefore they are the best actor”?

For me personally, on my first watch, Dean killed me with his love for family and Sammy and I empathized more with him usually, at least until Season 4/5 where he started pissing me off regularly. But, when I rewatch, I love episodes like Mystery Spot and Born Under a Bad Sign, or Souless Sam episodes because Jared is just so good when he gets something interesting to do. I find the Dean crying stuff less compelling on rewatches because it’s not as interesting to me (with a few expectations) after the first and second viewing. And acting at mirrors scenes gets old for me in particular very quickly.

In short, I think both are good, with different strengths, but I wonder why so many new viewers that I come across see Jensen as being stronger and Dean as being better. Do the just fail to see past the narrative bias? Or they just like Sean because he’s more fun?

Anyway, I appreciate any thoughts you want to share on this. And I’m also wondering if there is stats anywhere in GA favoring Sam?

First, because Sam girls commit “geek social fallacies” by also liking Dean because they love that Dean revolves around their Sammy. But Dean/Jensen stans don’t return the favor because they hate that Dean revolves around his Sammy so they hate on Sammy even though under their breath they’ve said if Jensen had been playing Sammy all along they wouldn’t change any of the writing.  That’s why there appears to be a Dean bias in the SPN fandom because Sam fans also likes Dean.  

It’s not a coincidence that Sam girls are the fandom’s official representative (all the meta fans on the show are Sam fans).   The show is mostly Sam-centric, if the bitter Sam girls won’t believe me then believe Jensen’s interviews when he said that SPN is Sam-centric and called season 10 a "rare Dean-centric storyline". (X)

Second, Dean is supposed to be a scene stealer, that's what support-protagonist do.  Often our favorite characters are not the protagonist but these scene stealers characters, they are usually cool or very funny. But it becomes a problem when producers try to capitalize on the character’s popularity, like creating a spin-off.   Like spices, which can not take the place of the main course, scene stealers often fail as leads because their “special-ness” evaporates when they have to carry the show. It's why WB canceled Supernatural when Jared told them he was leaving, because they knew a Dean-led Supernatural wouldn't work.

So while I'm watching an episode, I am more drawn to Dean because he’s more fun or interesting to watch. However the next day I remember the episode through Sam’s actions and interactions. Some of my readers tell me that they were surprised that they seem to “forget” Dean when they recall specific storylines, I said that’s supposed to happen with the support-protagonist.  We don't remember much of what John Watson did in the classic Sherlock Holmes or what was Nick Carraway's deal in The Great Gatsby.

It's the protagonist who mobilizes the story and stands out in readers’ or audiences’ minds.  Dean needs interaction with Sam in order for the audience to even remember him because he's part of the protagonist’s story. It’s why I keep saying Supernatural is Sam’s story, it's his Hero’s Journey.   Dean is at his best when he’s focused on Sam (which is why season 10 sucked and season 5 was kind of weak).

Third, Jensen is a personality actor and people are generally more drawn to them. Jared is a character actor who is trapped in a leading man role. Jensen has been Jensen “Dean Winchester” Ackles for the majority of his TV and movie roles since 1998.  It’s why Jensen initially made a bigger splash with Dean in the early Supernatural seasons because he’s already been playing Dean for years since Days of Our Lives.  In 2005 when SPN premiered, Jensen had a 7 years head start playing Dean compared to Jared who was just starting to play Sam and had to create Sam from scratch.  By season 3, audiences began to notice Jared's versatile acting skills and he would soon be tasked with playing different characters because that's what character actors do.

The boys are off on an adventure at sea And talk about they issues and they need each other emotionally and physically to survive. Ford is trying to reject the help from his brother that he desperately needs.Stan is so worried about his brother that he forgets that sometimes he needs to rely on his brother for support.

It was a beautiful morning off the coast of South America Stan was standing on the deck of their boat. "Good morning you up early" Ford said sarcastically Stan sticks his tongue out at him Ford rolls his eyes. "At least I don't go to bed at 8:00 "Stan teased "well at least I'm not hungover" Ford teased "Shut up and give me my coffee".

Ford handed him his coffee "what have you been up to this morning" "well I shower made breakfast and, I packed us supplies for today". Stan ate breakfast then they headed out to go exploring.Stan is wearing a red beanie and a white shirt and brown coat,blue pants Ford is weairing red sweater and blue coat,black pants boots They went through the forest, and caves and found a small black egg with red spots alone on the ground. Ford wants to take it to learn more about what creature it is he never seen an egg that color before. Stan thinks he shouldn’t.Because he remembered that time during the summer when he hatch a dinosaur egg and it end badly for his wallet. But Ford is interested on trying to hatch they had lunch on the top of the hill.

."Well Stanley we did it, do you remember when we were 12 years old and we found a boat and named it the StanOwar". "Yea seems like only yesterday I remember mom came to check on us to make sure we weren't missing she thought it was so cute"Stan said "yeah she took this picture of her two little adventurous" Ford put out the picture and showed him and Stan remember “we try to paint the whole thing" ,"I remember you through paint at me" Ford teased. "Anyway this sandwich is beautiful” he says well eating “oww god I have a bad headache” he complains . “Do you take your meds this morning” Ford asked “no” he replied “well that’s probably why you need to take them when we get back”. They packed up and hiked back to the beach to their boat. They can see the sunset fading from blue to red."Did you see that" Stan asked "what did you do you see" "sixer I think a sea monster maybe". They ran onto their boat and put the egg down somewhere safe "I don't see anything" "never mind let go"Stan pulled up the aker. They sailed out to sea for a while then they saw it bobbing in the water.

Stan look at the water it rose from the water "LOOK THERE IT IS GET SOMETHING TO KILL IT WITH holy SHIT it's huge".The giant monster starts attacking the boat "ok I got a spear" Ford grabs a spear and throws it at the huge green sea monster. It has one eye but he misses and the monster gabs Ford's arm and starts putting him overboard.He accidentally hit his head into the wall of the boat it makes him feel like the floor is moving up and down.He starts pulling away and hitting it hard with his hand but it no use "Fuck " Ford yelled Stan run over and punks the monster in the eye, "GET AWAY FROM MY BROTHER YOU SON OF A BICH "he yells.It goes away back into the water, Ford laughs "you did it how hard did you punk it ""I don't know hard enough I guess".

Ford has difficulty sitting down because the his body is shaking and his head really hurts. He tried to get up on the wooden box,but he is feeling frustrated that he keeps falling down do his dizziness."Are you ok" Stan looked worried as he can’t even sit down "I'm fine" "but you’re bleeding and you’re still dizzy let me help you". "No, I can take care of myself I manage to for 30 years” Ford tried to stop the large cuts from bleeding. On his hand and arm it bleeding all down his arm. But he can’t hold still long enough for the blood to clog.Stan dock the boat on the sandy shore but after he come up with a first a kit and a bowl  of soapy water. Ford takes the wet washcloth and wipes his arm ."Thank you" "I'm not going to let my brother get hurt by some dumb monster" he said hopeing that his brother will let him help. “I’m perfectly capable of tending to my own wounds ” it takes him a long while to rap a bandage around his arm.

Then the guys try to call Dipper and Mabel "mazel tov how do you turn this thing stupid on "Stan frustrated hit the phone "I don't know, did you read the intrusion they gave us"Ford said sarcastically."shut up it's working " ....... "Hi Grunkle Stan Hi Grunkle Ford"she yelled excitedly "Hi you guys"said Dipper "we have missed you kids"Stan told them . "What are you doing?"she asks "I just defeated a sea monster" Stan said proudly "how big was it" she wondered "It was huge bigger than the mystery shack" "wow cool"she added "are you sure you're not lying"Dipper questions.

"No he's not and I found this meritorious egg" Ford held it in his hand. It's almost as big as his hand "that's amazing, what do you think it is"Dipper wondered. "I don't know, we have to wait and see" "I think it's like a big butterfly"she hoped ." Mom and dad said we have to go to bed by" Dipper interrupted "by love you guys"she smiled and waved goodbye "bye bye ""by see you soon"Stan hung up  the phone.

Then later Stan makes dinner because if Ford made it they would be eating cereal for dinner.They eat dinner they have fish with carrots and drink their beer on the deck and watch the stars. Ford turns on a radio to listen to some 60s and 70s music.Stan looks angerly at Fords bandages. “Why do you drive me crazy” Stan asks frustrated “what do you mean what are you talking about” he has an idea about what this might be about. “Ford why won’t you let ME HElP YOU ” Stan yelled “because I’m a grown man WHY DO YOU CARE SO MUCH” he argued “CAUSE I LOVE YOU StanFord I’m trying to make sure you don’t fucking die…. I don’t want you to be hurt” Stan argued. “You need to let people help you sometimes” he finish saying

“I’m sorry Stanley I’m just so used to being independent I don’t realize when I need you” Ford apologize. “It’s okay…….remember when we were kids and we tried to be explores we made a car out of a box. Whore dumb little outfits with the stuff from dad’s shop” Stan reminisce and lit his pipe. Ford takes a sip of his beer “Yes we were really young I think 6 or 7 without are understanding how gravity works.We tried to see what would happen if we pushed it down the stairs with us in it.” “Oh boy that hurt but that didn’t stop us we got up and did it again”Stan laughed. “I think thats how I lost my first baby tooth” Ford told him. “Speaking of which remember in the Photo Booth when we were fooling around and I fall down on my head. I lost my front tooth I was such a stupid kid .” Stan sheepishly .

“Yup I didn’t enjoy explaining that to are parents,they we should have known better at 13 not to be roughhousing. They never got it properly fixed did they?”Ford add “yeah as a teen I got a fake tooth and that help. I mean now I have dentures so that Solve that problem.”He eat some of his food. Then he asks Ford “I've been going out with this girl” “are you sure it’s not a siren we don’t want to end up like the men in tales” Ford jokes. “NO she not or I hope really hope not ……Sixer hey do you want girlfriend", Ford looks up from his journaling "umm Stanley I don't know how to say this but" "oh do you boyfriend"he ask seriously ."I'm ok by myself..I have hobbies, I have the kids, I have you and that is all the love I need. Romance is a confusing feeling to me.I don't want a relationship at the moment I would probably prefer a male partner. It's has taken me a long time to accept that part of myself rather than me trying to run from it. But thank you for the offer".Stan took a smoke from his pipe and blew it off then he asked him.

"Ok just thought I ask....I still love you" Ford hug him and lifts Stan up a little "Hey put me down"Stan smiles at Ford “ since when can you pick me up off the ground you and your week nerd arms” Stan quested. “I’m stronger than you give me credit for little brother” Ford tease him. “Only 15 minutes there show off” Then Stan tried to licks him on the cheek, "what are you doing? No stop it". He moved closer "AHH STANLEY are you high'' Ford laughs "little bit "Stan laughs. "Do you want some" he asks "no I tried it in college I didn't like it and I'm still to mentally recover" he jokes "do you still smoke cigarettes" he asks. "No I quit been clean for 13 years or so" Stan tells him "well that's really great I know you were smoking for a long while good job " "Thanks I did it for the kids Soos brought me to the doctor and helped quit. But I still smoke cigars and stuff like to mix it up every once in a while. I guess that’s not as bad ."

"..Did you bathe today" Ford asked "well no" "that weed makes you stink like stunk go shower" Stan sticks his tongue out at him Ford rolls his eyes and smiles. "Oh bye the way I cooked you clean" Stan asked him "ok but please tell me you didn't use every pot and pan we own." Ford said and goes to start cleaning the mountain of dishes.But before he quickly realizes he needs to keep the egg warm. He picks it up from the blankets it had raps around it He put the egg under the a heat lamp and turned it on. Maybe they’ll have a new pet.

After Stan showers, they go to bed.12:00 am Ford got up to use the bathroom and he found Stan outside out the deck watching the waves. A 6 fingers hand was put on his back "Stanley what are you doing out here" "I couldn't sleep" "Did you have a nightmare". "Yes... I was in a room by myself in the dark and someone was telling me that I was worthless and I believe it.

The voice said it again and again but louder  and then dad came out of nowhere he told me to my face again that he thought I never was good for anything anyway. I...I COULDN'T"T DO A GOD DAM thing about it and I couldn't make it stop it's all my fault "he sobbed. Ford hugs him tightly "shhh okay you are not worthless without you I still be stuck in a another  dimension or the kids would gone.He really was a bad person it's feels a little worse to say that about our own father. But he hurt you and thats Something I can't let you be dragged down by for the rest of our lives. You're much more smarter than I am when it comes to noticing  things and braver too you really mean the world to me Stanley.

“Did you take your medicine this morning” “I don’t remember.. just to let you know you’re the one diagnosed with depression the medication is under your name” Stan told him he’ll have to call the pharmacy in the morning to get the prescription under Stanley name. “Come on let’s go bed” he whispers. He carried Stan like a small child and walked back inside. Ford decided that he too tried and exhaust from his withdrawal to drag himself to bed.

And he thinks that maybe this is a way to make up for his mistreat of his younger brother. Ford thinks that he is unhappy with himself for not being a good brother to him for being so selfish and stubborn even when Stan just trying to help him. He finds it difficult to let himself be cared for. Because he struggles with his shame of feeling like he doesn’t deserve to be loved. Stan would has no problem doing the same for him. Inside Ford gets his him his medicine and helps him in to bed. Stan looked at him and smiled a little bit and Ford thought maybe he still has a chance to change. He feels a lot better now that he’s brother looks to be doing alright. Ford wrapped a red plaid blanket around both of them they slept and cuddled side by side.

A day or two later they did some exploring on the beach of the new island it seems to be very populated by people. The locals are friendly to the twins they stop at a restaurant for breakfast "hey Ford do you want to hear the dream I had last night". "Maybe? Sure ""I had a dream that mom told me that she is proud of me for helping you..Isn't that weird". "Yea that odd I had a similar dream that she wanted me to be less stubborn and she was very happy that we're looking after each other".

"I wish mother was here"Ford told him taking a sip of his tea "I wish too but if it makes you feel better she knew" Stan comforted him "she knew about the portal and my disappearance" he asked. "Yes she is the only one I trusted and she knew I could bring you back. She gave me money when she could to help run it.And told me when she died I think that was a little while after the kids were born. She said to keep going to Bring you back." Stan took off his gold chain and opened it to show him.And in Lock it was a picture of the two of them and their mother.Ford touched with 6 fingers hand gently rubbing it and smiled Stan smiled too.After they finished their food they did some shopping at the market for supplies and food that should last them a few weeks. And get some cool stuff to show the kids.

"Is Shamans still alive" Ford asked him "umm no unfortunately he passed away a year ago from kidney cancer sorry" Stan told him. "That's a shame I thought we could go and see him is his wife Faith is she still alive" he said " Faith is she in a nursing home in Piedmont we could go with Michael if you wanted to" Stan offered Ford shook his head and agreed that they should when they get back home. Stan showed him a Hawaiian shirt he wants to buy even though he already has about 10. They headed to the ship and start dinner when the egg starts to hatch “look Stanley it’s hatching get my journal” Ford waits and watches what ever creature might come out.

“Lets hope it’s not a siren I don’t want to go through that again ” Stan hands him his phone a little brown head slowly pops out it has the ears of a cat and the eyes and mouth of a dog. A small round brown body covered in curly dark brown hair and a cat nose.Paws too big for it body thick tail with a white patch on the end. “Well that’s looks like something Mabel would draw she kind of cute” Stan try to pat her she moves away. “It’s incredible I’ve never seen anything like it before”Ford wrote down his observations.She jumped into his lap and licks his face “gross stop it be a good test subject ” Ford takes her and measures her height and takes pictures.Get a blood sample then he uses a microscope to look at her DNA.

A few hours later after Ford runs more tests Stan asks “You weren’t thinking of just using her to run your experiments and then getting rid of her were you”. “Well yes we can’t take care of a pet” Ford says “why not she can’t survive on her own just look at her” Stan points to her playing with a ball on the floor. “Ok you make a good point” he reaches out and gives her a scratch Stan pick her up and gives her her bottle. “How about Joy” he suggests “perfect” Ford agrees.They sailed around the world together from Colombia to Ireland to Australia to the Netherlands to Antarctica, to Africa and many other places looking for babes and treasure and creatures, myths .

So the Bill Willingham Steph post crossed my dash again and got me wondering... if you're a writer, what IS the best way to respond to fans (singular or group) that publicly call out your writing at a con? Obviously you shouldn't wish violence on them but since it's not like you can un-write the story, do you ignore them? Change the subject? Argue back?

I mean, I can't pretend to know the BEST way to handle a volatile question in a public space, when saying nothing is not an option.

But I also want to challenge the idea that fans were "calling out [Willingham's] writing," because that wasn't what they were doing. Sure, plenty of people said he was a hack online. But at cons, what they were asking was "Why doesn't Steph have a memorial case?"

I always hammer that point home because it's so astonishing to me now. We didn't want them to bring Steph back from the dead. We just wanted them to memorialize her fairly. We were asking for crumbs, and it infuriated Willingham and DC Editorial. To the point that when they did bring Steph back by revealing Leslie Thompson had faked Steph's death, Tim goes "So that's why she didn't have a memorial case!" They would rather have her alive than give a bunch of (mostly) female fans the tiny bit of fairness they had been asking for. It's just mind-boggling to me now how little we were willing to settle for and how angry it still made DC.

Anyway, the decision to kill Steph was editorially mandated, and the decision not to give her a case was also editorially mandated - neither of those were Willingham's decision to make. (The other objection fans had, the sexualized depiction of Black Mask torturing Steph, was also not Willingham's fault - that was artist Jon Proctor.) Now, obviously Willingham couldn't just say "Not my fault, ask DC" because throwing his employer under the bus would not have been good for his career. But DC also shouldn't have hung him out to dry.

I think ideally with any controversial storyline, the publisher should have a discussion with the creators about the best way to handle questions so that everyone is on the same page. But what happens instead is that creators (underpaid freelancers who are almost all in precarious financial circumstances) bear the full brunt of any anger, blame, or harassment, and the publishers (massive corporations*) get to ignore it.

Of course, in Willingham's case, he was not harassed, but asked a polite question ("Why doesn't Steph have a memorial case?") that he probably could have easily said was up to DC without getting in trouble. But instead he chose to publicly fantasize about committing violence against real women, because he was annoyed. So that's DEFINITELY not the answer.

So in conclusion: in general publishers should step up more, in specific Willingham is a fucking douche.

*When I say "massive corporations" I'm talking specifically about DC and Marvel, who are owned by Warner Bros and Disney respectively. Image is not a massive corporation. Also, DC Comics and Marvel Comics are in tricky positions because they are actually small, weirdly ramshackle legacy publishers who in a lot of ways still operate like they did when Marvel had two (2) actual employees, Stan Lee and his secretary Flo Steinberg. They operate on tiny margins, everyone who works there is criminally underpaid, their HR is a fucking joke... So like, none of this excuses editors for repeatedly not supporting their creators during times of controversy (THE FUCKING MOCKINGBIRD COVER, Chelsea Cain is a TERF but that shit was ridiculous), but I think it's also important to remember that when we're talking about the people editing these books on a monthly basis, we're not talking about Bog Iger or David Zaslav - we're talking about someone living in NYC or Burbank working 60 hour weeks on a $45K salary so that Disney has enough IP to make Guardians of the Galaxy 9 or whatever. It's complicated.

I have to say I HATE the best girl wars. Like srsly I hate the Toxic Kana stans and I hate the Toxic Akane stans. Disventure Camp season 4 Opinions part 3

A/n: This may contain spoilers for episodes 1 and 2. And I just gotta say...can they stop making these episodes so fast. I can NOT keep up with it.

Ok, at first, I was meh about Richard, but now I LOVE this man. Like man's is gay and old, what a combo! Also, that scene in the 2nd episode with Tristan was so sweet, and this man deserves the world. That being said... I think he'll make it somewhat far, but not you win the game far, you know what I mean?

I LOVE HER! WE STAN A BISEXUALN QUEEN! I also really like how she is whipping Amillie (I don't know if i spelled it right) into shape. I can tell she'll make it far, but I don't think she'll win. My favorite moment from her has to be in her audition tape when she said, "I'm one of the chosen ones, that's right! Bisexual as the sky is blue. " That line made me laugh a bit.

I like her a bit too, and I know lots of people like her as well. Although I don't have lots to say about her. I know everyone thinks she'll win, but I think if her team loses, I personally think she'll go next. A moment I liked from her was probably when she mentioned she had two moms.

He's pretty cool, but the thing I hate is that people keep shopping him with Ivy, and I honestly can get by them together. stan: gonna be honest here, i don’t think he’d be all that receptive. i love stan, i actually think im most similar to him than any other character. that said, i think he would be pretty awkward when trying to comfort someone. especially if they’re crying. probably a tentative pat on the back, some generic advice like “it’s gonna be okay dude…just like…don’t think about it?” he means well, he really does. but bro gets extremely confused over his own emotions (and he has a lot of them) so don’t count on him to understand yours. hes even worse over text, “👍”

kyle: similar to stan in some ways, but more of a problem solver. kyle is my fav character but this guy. is not very good at listening and just wants to fix the problem. honestly depending on the situation he’d probably think you’re overreacting. but if he realizes it’s cereal then he must fix it with facts and logic. my partner does this and it’s like okay i love that you wanna fix it but can you just let me complain for a second…anyways. again very well meaning, he’d actually be very good at reassurance.

kenny: king of listening. he doesn’t talk much anyways, he’s more of an observer. so he probably already KNOWS if a friend is in distress. number one guy if you need someone to wrap an arm around you and listen to your problems and be like “that sucks dude” and when he does drop some advice, it’s like the most philosophical life changing advice you’ll ever receive. he also has experience being a source for comfort for his sister, he has a good energy. stan may be the most sensitive, but i think kenny is most in touch and understanding of emotions.

cartman: i’m sorry cartman fans. he just wouldn’t. this bitch would either try to one-up you with his own problems or just flat out laugh at you. other people’s problems are simply just not worth his time. he only cares if it can benefit him in some way. listen i love eric cartman, he IS south park. but he’s a little shit with nearly no sense of empathy and that is why we love him. unless you’re his mom or very close friend, and even then…ehh.

Stan is probably a pretty decent listener. When it comes to advice though you’re on your own. Like you said, he’ll probably try. He means well. But he’s REALLY fucking awkward. He hesitantly pats their shoulder and says something like ‘don’t worry about it. It’ll get better.” and over text he 100% offers no advice. He’s a face to face kind of guy. Over text he kinda just shuts down.

Kyle absolutely means well. But god almighty he’s an awful listener. If you just wanna complain to him you’re gonna have to deal with a ‘yeah but…’ every five seconds. Or just flat out tell him you wanna just complain and you’ll get a listening ear, but he still tries to do something. Be it talk to someone for you, helping you out, whatever. Kyle is a fixer. And he won’t stop until the problem is fixed. He thinks he’s doing what is best but he’s not sometimes. He gets that from his ma. He has no problem dropping the harshness of reality in someone though. He drops it hard like ‘well if you’re gonna complain about abc you need to do xyz. You need to do something about said problem’ if it’s aonething only you can fix (like an insecurity or smth)

Kenny is an incredible listener and drops pearls of wisdom sometimes. He’s the quieter and more ‘mysterious’ type anyway so hearing so thing that isn’t ’haha tits’ come from him is kinda mind blowing. But when you need a friend, he’s the go to guy of the main four. He is a god at listening. He offers physical support if needed. He offers advice (even if it isn’t always good) but he will sometimes drop some poetic, metamorphic bombshell that people actually take from him. Hes the main guy to go for for consolation.

Cartman just sucks. Hell laugh. Or exploit you. Or threaten you. Unless it benefits him, oh well. Your problem.

She went from championing Clexa to claiming she can't really remember scenes very well? Ok. She went from calling it "bell*rke shit" that will probably never happen because that's just not Clarke and his relationship is, to telling his paying Cameo stans that oh no, no reeeeally there were these secret few times that blork almost did happened and it was in the script and they actually built whole sets for it!!! But gee golly gosh it just got cut for some reason and we super don't know how that happened! But it totally was going to happen! Blork was real!! Source: Trust Me Bro.

There's a lot more to it involving her charities and the fact that she milks hers and his stans for all the cash they can get, but in simplest terms, the writing is on the wall about who she is and how she conducts herself as a person, and I'm not a fan.

As for Alycia, if in the future she does something to piss me off I'll drop her too. Celebs get held on a pedestal way too often and forgiven for being objectively bad people just because fans like their artform. I don't care to be that way. That being said, I never held it against Alycia for not being outspoken about Clexa, that's just not who she is. She's never effusive or public on her opinions on much of anything aside from like... what flowers she likes. To her, it's a job with a clock in and clock out time, and I can respect that. I appreciate it, actually. She's always been kind and gracious with fans who have met her, or so I've heard, and that's all I think a celeb really needs to be.

Personally I never found her to be cagey per se, just quiet and kept to her own lane. She said herself that because she isn't a part of the queer community, she never felt comfortable speaking out on it because it felt like she'd be speaking over the voices of the fans and queer people who were using that time for speaking their truth and pain. While some held that against her or felt let down, I didn't because in more ways than not, she was right. There wasn't much she could've added to the conversation that wasn't already being said by people who were actually the ones hurt by what happened with Lexa and the bury your gays trope proliferation of 2016. And since then, she's shown her support. She came back to a show that she had left behind for years just to give fans closure, and she did it in a way that didn't suck money from fans by bleeding their wallets dry through endless conventions.

It's because of those very same feelings in conjunction with seeing how E has handled the whole blork/Clexa situation in recent years that has let me know all that "support" E was throwing our way was disingenuous anyway. She doesn't get to keep those points from me. Elena - I waffle between how much I like her and am annoyed by her, LOL, but given how much she herself waffles, that seems fair 😆 She's definitely at her best when she's providing a moral baseline (like "we can't kill all vampires just bc they're vampires, even if they do eat us humans"). It's interesting that her flaw is being indecisive bc (in her mind/words) making a decision means cutting off an avenue forever!! Which is most obvious in the whole Stefan-or-Damon dilemma... Yet she's also much too eager to sacrifice her own life... In many ways she's still the girl who preferred spending time among the dead at the cemetery instead of w her friends, back in S1E1 ;_; It's also really cool that she has a built-in foil who literally looks exactly like her – Elena being afraid to choose a brother bc choosing one means losing the other and Katherine refusing to choose a brother bc having the two wrapped around her finger means having power over them... Very interesting stuff...

Stefan - Bro I love Stefan 😭😭😭 S3 Stefan had me like 😃 though... I was not a fan of all the ~Rippah Era~ stuff, not bc it was character assassination but tbh it was just cringe LMAO and it was very obvious that he'd eventually regain control and come to his senses so the stakes didn't feel all that high lol 😆 He's so romantic and empathetic :') and I will admit that it was interesting to see that his grip on his control (for all his talk!!) was rly not that strong ;_; Seeing his ideals/hopes crumble against his reality was quite sad...

Damon - S1 Damon feels very different from S3 Damon LMAO which I think is partly character growth (watching Damon accept his propensity for care... chefs kiss 😩💗) and partly the writers leaning into Dalena and walking back some of Damon's darker tendencies LOL... Which I don't mind, I am very much NOT a fan of his eagerness to hypnotize/mind control women 😐👎 (tho i do acknowledge that that's classic vampire behavior lol) Anyway his instances of vulnerability do make me go 😱😱😭😭❤️❤️ so I am not immune to his charms LOL

Caroline - I LOVE CAROLINE!!! I'VE LOVED HER SINCE S1 IDC THAT SHE WAS "BITCHY"!!! (she was really just a normal teenage girl...) She has a lot of self-awareness and selflessness, and a lightness that some of the other characters have lost just bc they've all gone thru so much ;_; I love her relationship w Tyler in S2, when they were both new to the whole supernatural thing... Also she's such a badass!!! Love her combat scenes, even if she gets kidnapped more often than not haha

Bonnie - BONNIE 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗 most OP character on the show - her powers are limited only by what the writers can think of / what the narrative requires 😳 (aka Atom Eve vibes) She is such a badass, and I love how even tho she's tired and sometimes frightened of her potential, she always steps up to help her friends ;_; Also - maybe controversial, but I love that she went behind everyone's backs to preserve Klaus, just to see if she could 😳 Watching her embrace her magic/powers and start pushing limits is really cool!!!
