I didn't properly entertain shadowgast as a ship until the 90s because I flew through the Xhorhas/Angel of Irons arcs, but like, no one was unaware of what was happening beforehand. The entire shipping contingent's vibe was "If these two assholes could stop manipulating each other for ten seconds maybe they'd realize there's something here." In character they were both blatantly justifying all of their interactions like "We're mutually using each other, there are no feelings here, this is just an arrangement and nothing else, it's fine :)."

As this was developing everyone was very aware that that was the dynamic. It was the idea that maybe an actual healthy relationship was a real possibility here that took way longer to establish.

#silver jelly #i was thinking earlier about this wooden plaque thing that my deacon grandmother had in the house growing up that had what i thought was #the serenity prayer. upon googling it a few years ago it turns out that it was not; it was uh. a different prayer.#i think it's called the morning prayer? it's the 'nothing is going to happen to me today that you and i together can't handle' one #(except the font was like that old English looking mf so up until googling it i thought it was 'you and 2 together' idk why i never #questioned it i guess bc of like. the father/son/holy ghost thing?? anyway.)#here's the thing though she did actually have the serenity prayer in the house as well. it was just the *ceramic* decoration; not the #wood one. though i did look at that one a lot too.#anyway i guess i'm thinking a lot about making your space reflect your values. and how that can mean literally but also not.#like i think the wooden plaque is fundamentally the same as the prayer candles on my vanity.#i'm decorating my boudoir. my parents are coming next week. how do i make this space look like mine.#and also; what environmental reminders can i provide myself that direct my attention away from uhh. irritating individuals.#what's the emo version of the serenity prayer lmao (it may very well be the gway prayer candle)
