I don't talk about it but I'm actually just as insane about The Legend of Zelda, if not MORE, than I am Ninjago.
I think about them tragic soulmates. All the time. The curse. The reincarnation. The constant family and friend deaths. The tragic endings. It makes me sick, it pains me, it HURTS‼️
.
.
.
Anyway all age-appropriate versions of both Link & Zelda could get it, infact I would like to be in-between them and be getting it at the same time☝️

Gonna start a new little drawing series!!! Very inspired by the comics I've seen on here of the links meeting, I wanted to make my own designs and concepts for the links post-games!!! I'm going to make a link design for each game I've played/watched!! So far, it's just been Oot/MM, and BOTW/TOTK!!!
Not in the photo, but BOTW's nickname is Champion!
Anyways!!!! Some details!!
Fairy:
1. He's wearing lots of Lon Long clothing! The boots and pants were made for him (or bought) by Talon, and the Shawl and Pendant were gifts from Malon!
2. He has matching white streaks in his hair, and matching red tattooes on his face from wearing the Fierce Deity mask.
3. Not shown, but he's got small fish scales and the starting of gills on his sides like a Zora, and the backs of his hands and along his spine he has scalier, harder skin (similar to that of a Goron.) he also perpetually smells like fresh wood (Deku mask? Kokiri magic? Shrug)
4: his tunic was made by Saria! He goes to her whenever he grows out of his old one. He's very very attached to the Kokiri tunic. Eventually he'll stop wearing it, but even then that's when he's well into adulthood, and he'll keep it as a memoir. Aditionally, he tucks the bottom of his tunic into his pants cause the animals chew on it and he doesn't want it to rip.
5: has some of his gear from the first game!!! He's missing some things, but currently he has sarias ocarina, the Goron power bracelets (a gift), the base hookshot, and some other stuff I am currently forgetting. He also has all four transformation masks from Majora's Mask, still.
6: most of his scars are from stupid kid stuff, like falling out of trees or getting beat up by the animals at the ranch. However, the one scar from his previous adventures that stuck around through all the time jumping, was the lip scar he got from fighting Majora.
Champion:
1. Sheikah tech arm!!!!! Instead of getting his original one back, he gets a Sheikah arm instead!!! It has all the runes from the sheikah slate on it, as well as access to teleportation and storage. It's a bit of a hassle to control, so he's had to become a leftie for convenience. If he's traveling with Zelda, he'll often keep the arm strapped to his side, because it gets heavy and uncomfortable after long periods of time (the tech starts freaking out if he tries to put it in the slate storage).
2. Massive networking of scars on his left side from his death in BOTW. Most of his scars come from fatal wounds that were healed by Mipha's Grace.
3: his hairstyle is based on how it's put up when wearing the sheikah stealth armour! It's half-down, though. His hair pins were a gift from zelda- she'd found the shards of guardians while working with Purah in the lab, and has whittled and sanded them down into long lasting hair pins.
4: sometimes, when Zelda glances at him, there's this bright teal glint in his eyes... She can never tell if it's her imagination or not.
5: his casual tunic is from the Rito village!! The detailing is actually more akin to what the rito actually wear, I'm just lazy rn lol
6: he has earrings similar to Rauru!!

Ok found the Merspeak alphabet https://www.tumblr.com/sapphicseasapphire/747828546899247104/i-dont-know-if-ill-ever-actually-use-this-little?source=share
But you also state here that Legend has a song to refer to each Link that's from their respective games?
Is Time's the obvious Song of Time or more nuanced Song of Healing. I imagine when Legend meets Malon she'll end up with Epona's Song, the fact she's always singing it might trigger mixed emotions. I mean a Redhead with a beautiful voice, that's not complicated
Sorry!! I got so caught up in Mermay, I didn’t have the mental capacity to think too hard about putting these thoughts into words. Prepare for me to ramble for too long.
Legend’s “songs” that refer to the other Cryptids are just what the Merspeak version of the name sounds like. It’s written as a code version of English, but in the world it exists as a series of clicks and melodies- like whale songs.
Time’s name is different than his song.
His name is given to him by Legend, and used VERY rarely. (Legend will speak in Hylian when he’s with the rest of the Chain. He knows they can’t understand Merspeak). When Legend addresses Time, he’ll just call him Time. But of course, Time is a God worshiped by all…. Or he will be, at some point. So he has to have a name in Merspeak.
Names in Merspeak have to come from the Link’s respective game. It has to be a piece of music that exists in the game, but not in the world of the game. For example, the Ballad of the Goddess is a song that exists in the world of Skyward Sword. It is a song that is already claimed, in that sense. People know how to play it and associate it with a completely different idea, so it can’t be Sky’s name. It was made by the Hylians of that world, so it can’t be Merspeak anyway.
The Song of Time and the Song of Healing are the same way.
But it gets a little more complicated as a God.
Because he does answer to the Song of Time. Later on in the story, when he’s more comfortable with his Godhood, he will Know when that song is played. It summons him. But it’s less like calling his name, and more like calling him to work. It’s not personal. It’s not loving. It’s just… a stranger playing the right notes in the right order to summon a deity that they couldn’t possibly understand. It’s not Merspeak, it’s just music.
Now, Time’s Merspeak name? That is given with trust and understanding. With love. It has to be from either Ocarina of Time or Majora’s Mask, but it can’t be a song that he played during his adventure.
His name is the Opening Theme from Ocarina of Time.
“But Sapphire! That’s a musical motif that Link plays on the flute in game as early as in Zelda 1!”
You’re right. But it doesn’t exist in any of Time’s games, so it counts because I say so. The reason it has to be limited to in game music is because I want it to match the Vibe of the characters. Also because I am a NERD about Zelda music.
Legend only gives names to people that he’s CLOSE to. Realistically, Malon won’t get one. Not even a song she always sings- that exists in the game. And it calls Epona, not her. It should be Epona’s name.
Aaaand of course, in case you’re curious, here are some of the other Cryptids’ Merspeak names:
Legend: As I said, his is the First Search theme from Link’s Awakening. (Keep in mind that Ravio named him)
Ravio: Already has name! Ravio’s theme, Link Between Worlds. (The beloved)
Sky: Crimson Loftwing because COME ON, GUYS. OBVIOUSLY. It’s even a duet, are you kidding me? This song makes me so emotional, I love it so much. My Skyward Sword bias is showing
Hyrule: Palace Theme (Zelda 2) mostly because this song deserves more credit as one of the best pieces of Zelda music ever. And Let Hyrule Be FEIRCE!!!
Twilight: FUN FACT! This Link is the only one to actually have a theme! It’s most clearly heard in the Hyrule Field theme, but it weaves its way into the majority of music in Twilight Princess. So. Yeah, that’s him, alright.
Wind: I’m so tempted to make it the Pirates theme. BUT WIND IS SPECIAL!! HE IS AQUILI!! RAISED ON OUTSET!! BESIDE MER!! He also knows Merspeak- with such an accent that Legend can hardly understand him sometimes. But still, singing his grandma’s name or Aryll’s name brings him comfort on his travels
Spirit: Whatever this is (In The Feilds, I guess). This is one of my favorites of all time, too. It’s so joyful! So adventurous!
Wild: Ancient Zora Waterworks (Tears of The Kingdom). Please please please, I love this song. The Faron Woods motif from Skyward Sword that they snuck in??? And it sounds like something you’d find in Twilight Princess. It sounds peaceful. Almost mournful? But with a silent hope? UGH one of these days, I’m just gonna have to rant about my favorite Zelda songs.
(Realistically, it’d only be a few notes from each song. Or else it’d take FOREVER to have a conversation. But just for fun, we get to listen to the full context)

I don't have like, firm plans for a big Links meetup but it's fun to speculate about. Especially the reunion of the Links that fought in the War of Eras (this includes the Link made for Hyrule Warriors 2014, Link from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, Link from Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass, and Link from Spirit Tracks. Technically WW, PH, and ST Link are kind of the same warrior in that game but with different weapons so I'm separating them).
In a horrible yet hilarious way, taking Hyrule Warriors somewhat seriously means that the War of Eras had lots of child soldiers on the good side. HW Link was only 16 when shit hit the fan, and went from recruit-in-training to Hyrule's holy symbol and the subject of a mad sorceress's obsession. Nobody would handle that well. And while at least he was older than the other Links that show up, WW/PH is the only experienced Link who believes in Hyrule (I think ST Link has a dim view of the backwards country he's stuck in) and is somewhat emotionally mature (OoT/MM is ten years old and watched the world end multiple times, he's barely hanging on himself). Which means that WW/PH Link, at 14 years old, is the one best situated to get things done.
Except, well you try to have a 14 year old order around a 16 year old that's been told he's chosen by God. It will not go well. Nothing is as dysfunctional as the excellent Call Them Brothers fanfic, but oh wow yeah they are all doing badly.
If they did reunite years later, Tiny would forgive everything. He can't stay mad at kids and animals. It's the only way they stay (barely) sane after all. HW Link would not be as forgiving because he's closer in time to his trauma (he's in his late thirties here and the aftereffects of the war went on for a long time), but he's slowly coming to terms with the horrible situation they were all in and is attempting to do better, he's just going to slip up a lot. I don't know about WW/PH and ST Link yet.
So yeah, if they meet up again Tiny is immediately going to try to be friends, except he's poorly socialized and is probably bringing up stuff HW Link wants to forget, and HW Link is probably not setting boundaries because he feels bad about that fact that he used this guy as a war crime when he was sixteen and they were ten. They'll probably blow up at each other at some point. Maybe they'll work their shit out. Maybe not. Would make for a hilarious drunken fight scene though since they're both crazy strong.
Saw an old design for hanging sleeves and I had to give them to HW Link (he's got a good variety of outfits, along with Righty so he'll just be in a lot of different clothes at times). I think he's kind of a fancy guy in general, or at least tries to look like one for political reasons. As far as the nose scar goes, I think he's rather chill about it now. He was probably very distraught initially. Now he's more annoyed that it makes him very recognizable.
Anyways I fucking love old muffin top Hero of Time and bald HW Link. My blorbos. My precious warcrime idiots.

WE HAD A TIME
So on stream today, we decided to figure out how long Link was lost at sea for during the events of Link's Awakening.
It went horribly.
Long story short we decided to try and figure it out via looking up how old Link was in Link's Awakening, but it wasn't there. So we looked in the Oracle games. Wasn't there. Link to the Past? Nope. We went through the Hyrule Hystoria, then went to the Encyclopedia, Lastly we went to the internet. (We also learned the Encyclopedia just straight up has wrong information??????? Some info contradicts the games and things that are established, and it rearranges some of the games orders.)
We settled on learning how old each of the others were and trying to find an age range.
SO- In Ocarina of Time, Link is 9 then gets sealed away for 7 years, making him 16. In Zelda 2 Adventure of Link, Link is also 16 and in the original Zelda game, he was 10. In Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess we know Link is an "Older Teen" age, putting him 16-17+. In Wind Waker its stated that Link is the same age as the Hero of Time was when he defeated Ganon, he only defeated Ganon in 1 timeline, and he was 16 at the time, meaning Wind Waker Link's "Coming of Age" was 16, Making him ALSO 16. In Spirit Tracks Link is the age to become an Engineer, another coming of age, and how he is almost identical to Wind Waker Link, we can say he's also 16. Now in Breath of the Wild, it's stated that Zelda has to be 17 to enter the Shrine of Wisdom. So Link has to be 17 at LEAST.
This shows that the age in the Zelda games to become an "Adult" would have to be either 16-17.
We also debunked a few things, like if Wind Waker Link was 12, then that would make Ocarina of Time Link's Adult age 12, (Because they were the SAME AGE as when he Killed Again, he only Killed Ganon 1 time, and that was in the Adult Timeline) This would also make Ocarina of Time's Child Link 5. So. No.
Anyways, In A Link to the Past, Link is said to be a Child. Same in Oracle of Ages. As in, Link HAS to be younger than 16. So he could be anything between 9 to 15. We don't know how long some of these games take place between one another, so we don't really know. Link also lived with his Uncle but we don't know much of what happened after that, because his next three games weren't in Hyrule.
So there would be 8 games with Adult Links and 8 games with Child Links. (Some may have doubles)
Adult - Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Zelda 2, Wind Waker and Phantom hourglass, Spirit Tracks, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. (This is 8 separate Links)
Child - Minish Cap, Four Swords(?), Majora's Mask, Four Swords Adventures(?), A Link to the Past, Oracle of Seasons/Ages and Link's Awakening, Zelda 1 - (This is 8 separate Links)
ANYWAYS- We went down this rabbit hole because someone brought up in the Echoes of Wisdom Demo Zelda doesn't know who Link is. But we all thought this was the same Zelda as A Link to the Past- But the funny thing about that Zelda is that she's CANONICALLY Forgotten Link BEFORE- SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHO IS HE IS ORACLE OF AGES, BUT IT'S CONFIRMED SHE IS THE SAME ONE AS A LINK TO THE PAST-
So Echoes of Wisdom Zelda, forgetting who the Hero of Legend Link is, Tracks and is still correct because of the fact that SHE'S DONE THIS BEFORE-
Maybe she forgets names easily or something, or Link was out on that boat for a really long time, idk.
Also this all happened in a stream on my Twitch, so if you want to watch me lose my mind- Here's a link to that

In regards to that ask about Legend, I've always liked the idea of him being Fable's half sibling or something, because it is a different Link/Zelda dynamic. I also think Legend wouldn't really be interested in relationships after the whole Marin thing. It does get tiring when Link is always paired with Zelda.
That being said, what are some of your favorite Link/Zelda dynamics? Or who might a Link be interested in instead? Sky and Sun are the only ones I can't see with anyone else, and I know you like Mipha/Wild. Which if I had actually taken my time with BoTW I probably would too, but I don't know enough of the story there to really have an opinion
There are some who like the whole “Link & Zelda are destined to be soulmates no matter what and that means romance all the time,” and if that floats your boat, sure. But I do definitely prefer variety. Also I could make a really cursed observation about Zelink through the ages based on the reincarnation that’s mildly implied, but for the sake of my lovelies who adore all the Zelink, I won’t 😂
I’m probably just gonna sound like I’m repeating myself from other asks, sorry, I haven’t played all the Zelda games so I can only truly speak to the ones that I have, but I’ll throw in my two cents for the ones that I’ve at least seen play through snippets/vibes I get from LU/ideas I liked.
Skyward Sword: They’re definitely, 100% in love, and they are adorable. 10/10 pairing
Minish Cap: They’re childhood friends to my knowledge, so it could go either way, I think. They’re so young in this game, I can’t say what’s gonna happen to them. Definitely would stay friends though.
Ocarina of Time/Majora’s Mask: It’s so complicated. I can see Adult timeline Zelda having an attraction to him, having hoped and prayed for his return to see a handsome young man appear. I can see Link physically being attracted to her while not entirely comprehending what that means because he’s still nine, and I can see than becoming an issue when he does naturally grow a little older. I can see Link being unable to separate the Zelda in the “nonexistent” timeline he fought alongside from the Zelda in his current timeline, who didn’t have to endure the same trials and therefore isn’t exactly the same, and I can see that messing him up too. So I feel like they’d be friends at best, have a professional relationship with maybe some fondness being likely, or cold and distant at worst. It seems most likely that they’re friends but Link keeps her at an arm’s length… by Majora’s Mask he seems to keep everyone at an arm’s length, tbh.
Twilight Princess: Eh. They could be friends, they could become lovers, it could work. But there definitely isn’t enough in the game to say for sure with the latter option. Link very clearly finds her beautiful based on his reaction to seeing her the first time, but he also had the same reaction to Midna lol, boy just goes :O with every pretty girl he sees. 😂 I think he had more chemistry with Midna but he also had time to develop that relationship, and since she’s gone that’s a sadly moot point anyway. But most likely, I think he’ll either end up with Ilia (he does seem to genuinely care about her, and you can see she has some strong feelings for him… you can make them a sibling dynamic or romantic, I haven’t played through the entire game yet so I can’t say for sure, but I can see them getting together) or someone completely different, despite his restlessness at the end of the game, he seems very much a guy who would settle somewhere quiet and have a family eventually. He’s very domestic and gentle and stuff ☺️ And honestly it would be interesting and fun to see the quiet, regal, stoic Queen Zelda get invited to middle-of-nowhere country village to wind down, or for her to invite Link to the castle and his kids sneak along and cause chaos or something 😂
Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass: I’m pretty sure Tetra and Link found New Hyrule together, so it’s heavily implied they’re a thing. From what I’ve seen they have cute chemistry together, so I’m down for it.
Spirit Tracks: I’ve barely seen anything about this game, but given Zelda is the companion for this one she at least is one of the likelier Zeldas to be in a romantic relationship with Link. Dunno 😅🤷🏻‍♀️ everyone seems to think they are, so I guess I’ll go with it
A Link to the Past/Link’s Awakening/Oracle games: I honestly really like the implication that Zelda and Link are siblings. It’s very different from the others and could have so much potential for either fun or angst! Or both! Link obviously has feelings for Marin, and I do think he’d definitely need a break from romance after Koholint. I can’t say he’d never be interested in another relationship after that, but definitely not for a while.
A Link Between Worlds: 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ not a clue, never seen an interaction between them
Four Swords: Also not a clue lol
Legend of Zelda/Adventure of Link: I mean, clearly they’re at least friends if Link’s still helping her out six years later, that’s all I’ve got 🤷🏻‍♀️😂
Hyrule Warriors: Ugh. This game lol. They give each other lovey dovey looks, so sure. Why not. At least make Zelda interesting if you’re (general you, not specifically you) gonna write it though. Idk. Honestly, them being war buddies is awesome. But the way this game portrays Zelink grinds my gears so I usually struggle to get beyond that. Link honestly should probably just be left alone after he has Cia’s creepy self stalking after him while simultaneously trying to kill him (girl did not know what she wanted, nor did she know what clothes were). Of Link’s options, he definitely wouldn’t want Cia, Lana would be sweet and loving and kind but he probably couldn’t get beyond her being a part of Cia (RIP poor girl, I really do like her and she genuinely loves Link), and Zelda would be ok. Both Zelda and Lana could be war buddies with Link, which is fun. I don’t think Link/Lana could happen because Cia, and I can see the war and politics after the fact impeding Link/Zelda. LET LINK JUST FIGURE HIMSELF OUT DANG IT HE’S A TRAUMATIZED WAR VETERAN WHO HAS BEEN SEXUALLY HARASSED.
Age of Calamity: Link/Mipha all the way! It’s heavily implied in BotW canon that they were a thing anyway, and here they get the chance to actually live! And be together! As such, I feel like Link is a very caring friend to Zelda, and I also think a strong friendship/siblinglike relationship between Zelda and the Miphlink couple would be adorable (and very beneficial for diplomatic relations between the Zora and Hyrule). I know in botw Zelda had a crush on Link prior to the calamity after he rescued her, not sure if that’s the case in AoC because I haven’t finished the game but it seems less pronounced. Either way, a crush isn’t the same as a strong friendship changing into a romantic one. Also I had this idea that Zelda, being the scientist she is and far more interested in just helping rebuild her kingdom (and perhaps not knowing how to cope with being alone when the guy she crushed on is married), announces some kind of competition or presentation for eligible bachelors and Link and Mipha are facepalming and Link (and Urbosa) is 100% gonna vet all the men by glaring at them from behind the queen and Mipha’s gonna be the Vibe Check girl (Daruk thinks they’re all nice, mostly; Revali is like “keep me out of this nonsense” but will low key stalk all the bachelors to make sure they’re up to snuff)
Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom: Given the fact that these two traumatized beans only have each other for points of reference/mutual understanding of their trauma and entire viewpoint, they very likely get together. I have a hard time with it only because people are so insistent on botw Zelink that they completely disregard Mipha and ship Link with Zelda before the calamity as well, which I do not. But honestly, botw/TotK Zelink is fine with me. Though TotK keeps it so vague sometimes, I feel like you can reasonably imply that maybe they haven’t gotten together yet by that point but they’re very close to doing so. Or it’s early in their romantic relationship.
Echoes of Wisdom: TBD! They haven’t interacted much yet from where I am in the game (Gerudo Desert), but considering (MILD SPOILERS) they didn’t even know each other until he rescued her, it’s gonna take a lot to convince me they’re gonna fall in love. Also, it’s hard to tell how old they are with this chibi style but I get the vibe they’re on the younger teenager side? Nothing’s set in stone for relationships at that age.
…I think that’s all of them?

FINE, YOU TWISTED MY ARM. I want a date night with BTAS Riddler with his geeky S/O who loves videogames but especially Legend of Zelda. And by date night I mean multiple consecutive days in a row where they're going to marathon the games and geek out over the different aspects of them (the characters, the story, the technical parts, etc).
"Valentine's Video Games" BTAS Riddler X Reader (Valentine's Day Event 2025)
Yeah, I really twisted you around for it :P This ask is for the 2025 Valentine's Day Event.
TW: suggestive moments, nothing in detail
Edward was a romantic man when it came to Valentine's Day. For several years he had insisted on either taking you out or making a feast of his own for you- flowers and chocolates with cheesy cards he designed himself. A dance where he simply held you against his body and allowed the two of you to rock back and forth. Making sure you felt cherished as anyone could want.
This year you'd asked for something a little different. He'd had no plans and you had time off- Both of you adored video games particularly of the puzzle variety. What about a Legend of Zelda marathon? It had been a particular hyperfixation for you lately and it was one of his favorite series... It took him less than ten minutes to think it over and start planning.
Four days, two games: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Including side quests, he averaged around 30 hours each between them. Not focusing on 100%-ing them... Yes, yes, it was doable with breaks between, including sleeping. It was just meant to be fun, anyways. Both of them had completed both games multiple times. It was rather like meeting with an old friend.
The morning it all began he woke up early and told you to go back to sleep. He'd built everything already, of course. It was merely putting it together. When you exited your room later in the morning, you were greeted with a wall of masks- all of the masks from Majora. When you walked past the bathroom, the gentle lull of the 'Great Fairy Fountain' theme drifted out. A lighting effect simulated the movement of reflected water along the walls.
A small hologram of Navi and Tatl chirped to life as you entered the living room. You looked around, spotting the cameras and mirrors being used to bring them to life from the ceiling. Navi's voice came through smaller speakers "Hello!" "Look!" as she flit about you. A Hyrule world map in rug form led you to the gaming set-up.
Your boyfriend sat on one of two green gaming chairs, each decorated with the twisting vines of the Deku forest, a tri-force symbol emblazoned on the back. On the table in front of the chairs were chocolate bonbons in the shape of bomb flowers. A teddy bear with Link's clothes sat in the chair meant for you. And Edward... oh, he looked so smug. The Tatl hologram called again for you to look at the double monitor set up for you both.
"What do you think?" He asked, already knowing the answer.
Your hands were at your mouth, stunned, "I... I don't even know where to start."
"I thought Ocarina of Time would be the place to start." He clicked his tongue, "Of course, unless you'd rather skip to the part where you ravish me for being the most considerate, loving genius you've ever known." A hand on his chest as he flourished.
"...Maybe if you'd included the master sword." You joked, "Otherwise, I think we'll have to start with the game."
It made him laugh, at least, "I'll keep that in mind. Apologies to not meet your grand expectations with my whimper of offerings."
The two of you took turns, though Edward mostly allowed you to take lead. Every once in a while if you had forgotten a puzzle, he would nudge you in the right direction. Because, well... Of course he had memorized all of it. As a joke, once you're done, he'll offer to complete it AGAIN right before your eyes. He then speedruns it in five minutes using tricks hidden within the structure of the games code.
He somehow has themed meals planned at every food break. Rock sirloin for the Gorons, seafood for the Zora, etc etc. The holograms of your fairy companions followed you through the living room- With the noticeable difference of Navi being slightly less chatty than she is in game. You were certain that was an included feature.
The times the two of you went to bed, he would flick them off. The fairy's can't be witness to such... lewd acts, he reasoned. He made each night as sweet or as sensual as the two of you were feeling in the moment. There was one night he allowed you to stay frustrated on a puzzle that always got you. That way, you could release the "pent up" anger all on him. It was certainly successful! ...If he was a little sore afterwards.
Majora's Mask he took slightly more hand in. It wasn't due to you lacking in ability, it was more his memorization of the "schedule" he liked to follow. The entire time, he told you fun facts- little things he'd picked up over time. His perspectives of the games in general. Somehow even if you moved the chairs, the two of you would slowly edge closer until they were together again as you played. Little touches here and there.
Then, the credits would roll for Majora's Mask. A third hologram had joined the fairies, that of the fairy ball Tael. Yet as the screen faded, the theme for Lost Woods continued. The trio of fairy's seemed to dance to it, circling around the monitors. A full heart container twirled to life into the screen. Green text began to blink to existence in a text box:
"Will you marry me?"
As you had begun to focus on the screen, Edward Nygma had quietly and gently moved the chair he was sitting in to crouch on the floor. There, in that comfortable and vulnerable space the two of you called your own, he was on one knee with a ring in his hand.
"When you suggested something different, well." He shrugged, "I certainly needed to keep you on your toes."
Little fireworks lit on the screens when you said yes.

The Howling Stones in Twilight Princess might just be one of the coolest things the Zelda franchise ever done.
I vividly remember when I first encountered the golden wolf (aka Hero's Shade aka Ocarina of Time Link aka best Link aka for the love of Hylia give this man a break) and he gave me the quest to find the Howling Stones. And oh boy I was hyped.
I found the first Howling Stone and the howling sheet appeared on my screen. I was so happy that I was shaking my feet like a child after receiving a Christmas gift. The Zelda games, especially the 3D ones before Breath of the Wild, always had these musical themes around them and as someone who is born and raised on music and instrumentals, that makes my brain stimulated to its peak.
Ocarina of Time had (obviously) Time's Ocarina and Sheik's Harp.
Wind Waker has... the Wind Waker.
Skyward Sword has the harp.
But Twilight Princess is just howling, which somehow makes everything more emotional.
God I remember when Song of Healing showed up and I didn't recognize it at first but then I started humming as the song was being howled and then I said and I quote: "Holy shit, this is Song of Healing! This is the best game of all time."
(Sidenote: as I was finding more of them, I found the one that had Goron's Lullaby, which really surprised me because, at least in my opinion, it's one of the most forgettable songs in Majora's Mask.)
Anyway, Twilight Princess is, like, Top 10 games I've ever played and that's coming from a guy that plays very few games.

Also while I'm horse girl posting oh my god the riding in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask is atrocious. Forget critiquing Link's riding posture, we have much, much bigger problems here.
First off in OOT Epona's saddle has no stirrups, but more importantly she's not wearing a bridle. Link holds his hand as if he's holding reigns but there are none. In Majora's Mask Link is riding bareback, but still holds his hands as if he's holding reigns, which, again, do not exist. I can give Majora's Mask a pass on this because I know it was made in a year, and I'm even willing to give OOT a pass because idk maybe it really would've been too difficult to model reigns and stirrups on an N64 game, but listen. I played the 3DS versions. Could they not have modeled some on the 3DS??? While they were remodeling a bunch anyway??? Come on.
Second, Epona does not look old enough to ride in Majora's Mask. Again, I'm willing to give a pass on this since the game was made in a year, I know they had to reuse as many assets as possible to put production time toward the things that actually mattered, but still. It made me very uncomfortable while playing the game. I don't know how old Epona is supposed to be here but I'm unconvinced she's even a yearling. That horse has NOT finished growing. Link you're going to fuck her up forever. Get off her back right now.
Third, and most importantly, oh my god why are you whipping this horse every time you spur her on. There is debate to be had about whips in riding that I'm not getting into because I'm super unqualified for it, but I think pretty much everyone can agree that whipping a horse behind the heel every time you spur her on is unquestionably animal abuse. My teachers would've strangled me if I'd tried that. Probably the horses would've bucked me off and trampled me. I can believe Ingo would ride like that and I can believe Link would copy him because he doesn't know better but Malon would beat him to death with a shovel about it. I get that they needed a visual indicator to show Link spurring her on but you could've picked literally anything else. I am not giving them a pass on this. It's uncomfortable and made me wince every time and I actively avoided using Epona's top speed because of it. Stop whipping that horse or I'll start whipping you.

GUYS okay hear me out majoras mask boat boys au
I love legend of zelda I love boat boys this is like the ultimate combination of my interests you cannot understand the brainrot. Idk what to call it yet tho... majoras minecraft? Anyway prepare for an essay
OKAY so we have the Hero of Time, Etho, who stopped ganons plans before they started, and would be stuck in a child's body if not for the fact I think that'd be a lil weird for the more shippy aspects of this au that all the running through time aged his soul and his body followed suit (he's still got a young appearance, and the mask doesn't make him look older like he thinks). Same reason he has the scar over his eye (from the ganon fight); no matter how much the body may heal or rewind the mind will not forget.
Then navi (maybe bdubs?) left him, and he went with epona (maybe bdubs instead? (eponas a horse iydk)) and he sets out on a journey aka the beginning of mm:
Wandering through the woods on epona, gets jumped by skull kid. For those unaware, there is skull kid, a lonely lil sweetheart, and he wears the mask, an entity on its own. He also has two fairies, siblings tael and tatl.
So I was a little unsure about this for a while, but I think I've decided on grian for the skull kid and Jimmy for tael, grian bc watchers and Jimmy bc skull kid is not very nice to tael (bc of the mask) and like a listeners reference or smth blah blah blah
TATL. that's who's interesting. At the beginning she gets separated from her friends and becomes your companion. So naturally for this au she is our favourite joel smallishbeans. It works so well. Tatl is mean but cares, and that's joels dynamic with the bad boys and with etho, guys it's literally perfect idc what you say
I think it doesn't change much throughout like the story of the game, but just taking dialogue tatl says to link and its so perfect for a sassy joel to a "can't believe I'm dealing with this shit again" etho. Uh one thing different though; in hylian form etho doesn't have an ocarina but instead a mini marimba. Just because. I think it's cool, and for potential things later on.
Now, fairies in this au are just tiny glowing people shaped things with wings. The glow around them is their magic, and depending on emotions/energy the brightness changes (thats why they look like flying balls of light). Some fairies have the ability to make projections of themselves, more hylian sized in nature. This can be intimidation or distraction or w/e, but they cant do it for long periods of time bc its exhausting. These forms aren't physical. Just sized up light projections of their actual bodies.
So for a lot of their journey, joel is just a cute pocket sized ball of rage and sarcasm, who helps with ethos aim for fighting. Bc that's a game mechanic and also ethos like half blind. But like when joel calms down imagine him crawling into ethos hat and just dozing off. He can fit in the palm of your hand like guys it's so cute. But he is also capable of being worse than a mozzie
Oh probably a good point to put in what I imagine etho looks like. So it's typical link green (maybe a bit dampened?), weird pointy hat, short hair (white ofc), his shirt is more of a jacket with a fluffy cold weather collar, it's a bit too big for him but he knows he'll grow into it, he's all knobbly and thin (underfed a lil, boy was never taught how to care for himself beyond basic survival). His injured eye is red bc of ganon, and often gives him phantom pains. It can't be healed.
Anyway, at some point in their journey together, etho and joel learn a song that let's fairies have a larger physical form, no wings, sorta like the great fairies (who they learnt it from prolly). It isn't permanent, slowly draining ethos magic meter, the spell ends when you run out of magic. This is because I want them to actually be able to stand side by side or maybe hug, and also bc its hard to block a blow with your body when ur tennis ball sized.
Aaaaand, this ties back in with with marimba. What if ethos injured, or unconscious, and he obviously can't defend himself, so joel panics and plays the marimba in what he hopes is the right order to give himself a body. I imagine that being that small, you could not play an ocarina. And hey maybe joel carries etho away after that, and when the spell ends he has barely any light emitting from himself because he spent nearly all his magic (what he is made of) saving etho.
But this song isn't used much, because of its draining nature, and you can't really do any other magic things while it's going. So it's mostly just in the final fight (over and over) or tough moments or maybe joel wants to experience something like hoe hylians do. It's obviously inferior to how he experiences things as a fairy, of course, he's just curious thats all. He totally doesn't want etho to do it more.
Okay I think ill sorta stop here, I am NOT done, I will probably post some art I've done for this later lol, and I want help with who everyone else is (mumbo is the moon. You cannot stop me nor change my mind) with mcyts to npcs

The reason why I don't mind that Zelda doesn't wield a sword in Echoes of Wisdom is because I never cared for having a "female Link".
Some people in the past have told me "why play Princess Zelda when Nintendo could just make the main character customizable or have a female option", and honestly, I hate that idea. I think it devalues Link as a character to just make him like the Pokemon Trainer or Squid Kid, and I personally enjoy Link being a more androgynous character which Nintendo really leaned towards in BotW and TotK. If Link is divided into "boy Link" and "girl Link" then that androgyny gets discarded. Not to mention that BotW/TotK made him so bland in so many cutscenes where he barely emotes at all despite having a lot of personality in the rest of the game: making him a generic self insert will just make him more bland out of necessity so people can project onto him. I much prefer Link having his own personality like in Skyward Sword or Wind Waker etc.
I want to play Princess Zelda because she has her own cool powers throughout the series. I don't need to play a female character because it's a female character, I want to play Princess Zelda or other versions of her like Sheik or Tetra because they're unique.
Furthermore, I do enjoy having unique gameplay styles. I'm really interested in Echoes of Wisdom because it is different. The 2D Zelda games don't really have much going on in the sword fighting department compared to the 3D games: they're very straightforward. It would be interesting for them to expand 2D sword fighting in the future somehow but I don't really know what they would do besides "swing sword, block with shield, attack weak point". The ability to summon minions to fight for you and to spawn all sorts of things sounds very exciting to me personally because it's going to be a very different game than past 2D Zeldas.
I hope that in the future we see more and different Princess Zeldas to play, and personally I would love some co-op titles where I can play with someone else. (It was my hopes and dreams for both Link and Zelda to be playable in TotK when it was first teased. Running around Hyrule with someone else like my twin would have been an absolute joy especially if Zelda had her own unique moveset.)
I just prefer variety. I don't play each Zelda game because I can swing a sword, I play it for the Ocarina of Time or the Wind Waker or the Minish Cap or the masks in Majora's Mask or all the other unique aspects of each game. The sword—besides Skyward Sword—is a method to hit stuff with but it's not often the star of the show, and I am usually disappointed when other items are not useful outside of their respective dungeons. I like how Nintendo is trying to incorporate abilities into the broader gameplay rather than specific uses like in the past because it gives me more options that just "identify the specific item needed in this situation" or "hit the weak spots like this with that".
That isn't to say that there can't be criticisms. For instance I noticed that spawning something with the staff is done by pressing the Y button and there's the whole scroll through items thing. I worry that only having one button assigned to this ability means that there will be a lot of menuing. I am hopeful that Zelda will have more options for different items besides the staff because the other face buttons are free for other things. The D pad icon also leaves space for 3 different things on the left too, so I am interested to see what other abilities Zelda will have available to her. Nintendo is not a stranger to hiding things about upcoming games, so I think there is a good chance that there is some else besides the staff in this game.
Anyway, I just wanted to get this off my chest. I am a female tradesperson, so I don't appreciate anyone insinuating that liking the different playstyle is tied to sexism and the idea that Zelda can't wield a sword (she did in Twilight Princess). I just don't think that a sword and shield is something that every game needs especially in a 2D Zelda where the other abilities are generally more interesting to me.

Guys I want to draw actual references for all my Links and Zeldas (and also some other people). I've been meaning to do this for a while now... like literally since I joined tumblr over a year and a half ago... but hey. Life happens.
Anyway that being said. Nothing like a good ol' poll to sort things out. So here's a poll. Please reblog for larger sample size; the order of most popular in the poll is the order in which I'll draw them :)
PLEASE REBLOG FOR LARGER SAMPLE SIZE I AM BEGGING YOU ON MY KNEES (this poll lasts for three days)

Since I got to play Majora's Mask for the first time in my life this year, I've been having little headcanons about the Legend of Zelda, mostly inspired by the games I've played (which are not that many) and plenty of Zelda theory videos I like to put as background noise
Some of them I have plans for (you'll see hopefully soon) but here goes one I had the other day. I call this a headcanon 'cause there isn't really anything that backs this up in canon but then again I think the Zelda fandom on youtube likes to call their own headcanon theories sometimes haha
Anyways, I've checked the timeline and while I've not played Four Swords, I haven't found anything that could potentially contradict this.
My headcanon is this: in Minish Cap, Princess Zelda is the holder of something called the "Light Force". This is not the Triforce (according to the timeline, the Sacred Realm was already sealed at this point so the Triforce is most likely sealed within) but another special power given to the Hylians by the Picori.
Four Swords is the last game that comes before Ocarina of Time and the timeline split. In between those two games, there is a civil war which takes place several years before Ocarina of Time (where Link's mother manages to hide him as a baby in the Kokiri forest).
As Minish Cap's Link and Zelda grow older, peace in Hyrule becomes fragile. So Zelda, knowing the danger of the Light Force falling into the wrong hands, decides to seal it in an item. She picks Link's Ocarina of Winds, an already magic item that allows the player to travel around with the power of winds. What they didn't expect when doing this was for the Force Light to deepen that travelling magic and making the ocarina able to allow its player to travel through time and space.
(With the correct song, that is. But that is a story for another day)
Basically, the Ocarina of Time was created from fusing the Light Force with the Ocarina of Winds. This instrument would be later passed down through the Royal line until the events of Ocarina of Time take place.
Again, this is a headcanon I came up with. As far as I'm aware, it doesn't contradict the timeline or the lore (or at least not much more than trying to tie all the games together does)
