I'll be so real...the only thing I hate doing more than colouring is shading. It's adds so much, but it's so tedious. I've been drawing this every week day after work, the struggle is real. At least I hashed out the background in one evening because I do not have the time to make something intricate right now.

Anyhow, Mipha is coming along. I can't believe this is the first time I've really drawn her digitally.

I just had a random thought on my lunch break. What if the Sonic franchise introduces an Assist mode where a second player can help someone playing the game by protecting them from obstacles and this protector is actually Silver the Hedgehog going back in time to save the future by protecting Sonic and co. in the present?

Silver could just float next to Sonic or whomever and use his psychokinesis to block projectiles, stun and attack enemies or levitate the first player when they fall into pits. His different abilities could have a cool down to prevent spamming, and then the results screen could show that an assist was used.

Idk, I think it's a cute idea that would really fit right into the gameplay but also lore. The levels can be more difficult with the option of co-op to make it easier.

...I suck at Sonic games...okay...like...I am awful...and I get motion sickness...I would be the one playing Silver while my twin does all the real work, haha. I think the only Sonic game I've ever beaten on my own is Sonic Rush since I beat Mania with co-op. I downloaded P-06 but it makes me too ill to play through and I got stuck on Unleashed during a "Don't break the pots" objective.

I found a copy of Radiant Historia for the DS a while ago at a convention (I don't like the art style change or the cutesy fanservice of the remake for Switch since it really changes the tone) and I played through the beginning of the game before putting it down for a while.

I picked it up again this morning and the game told me to go to Judgement Hill or something, well...I forgot where that was and I don't see a map. I found a sign that said go South, so there I went, and then I ended up going East then North following the path, and then I was back at the home city... I think my party is going to be incredibly buff by the time I figure this out.

I actually played farther into this game years ago because I downloaded a ROM on my old computer. I never finished it though because that laptop got fried and I couldn't retrieve the files.

I really enjoy the premise and the combat in this game, though I think I'll need to look up a map.

Despite the horrors of surviving alone for 100 years within Vah Ruta under constant fear of Waterblight Ganon in my Mipha Survives AU idea, I also think it's really cute that Mipha would actually grow old alongside Link and Zelda once she's finally freed.

Assuming she's around Rivans age, she would be about 130-140 years old, and with the generation of their parents that I've estimated at 200-300 years old (I've talked about it in an older post), she could grow wrinkly in time for Link and Zelda to do the same in about 50+ years.

The three of them shoulder all their trauma but laugh among themselves at their time together 100 years ago while they knit doilies or something is just a very cute image.

I'm really not very experienced in drawing elderly people but maybe I'll give it a try.

Muzu believing that the armour Mipha made was for a Zora not a Hylian is so amusing. The proportions are completely off for anyone but a Hylian. It doesn't even accommodate a Zora's fins.

Maybe Muzu realized the discrepancy but just thought Mipha was not very good at sewing or crafting armour and didn't think it was right to correct her. He definitely would have bullied whichever Zora that was presented with the armour into saying it fit perfectly to save her from hurt feelings.

Hmm, I feel like I should change the curtains to something yellow to tie in the yellow couch and break up the green more. It looks too monochromatic.

I am weak to the colour green, it always catches my eye, but I need to remember to mix in other colours. I found a nice pair of green linen pants then a green linen open cardigan which are almost the same hue which I liked, but then I found a cotton shirt that matched them...it looked like scrubs all together. I swapped the shirt with a white one and it just works better.

Anyway, I gotta see the new stuff in the update in case there are any new furniture pieces I want to include. I really need to get the house expansions as well and rework my outdoor storage with the new large storage chests (super excited for that).

Okay, okay, I had a breakthrough on Zelda in the Mecha Champions AU. She commands a Goddess Statue Golem or at least she's supposed to, but this golem lacks any sort of controls and must be moved through magic alone yet she cannot get it to work. She communicates with and commands the other Champions through the Sheikah Slate and a headset. Zelda wishes she could pilot a Divine Beast instead...

I modeled it after the Statues in Twilight Princess that are commanded with the Dominion Rod. Unlike those statues, the commander of this giant golem resides inside the hole in its chest suspended with magic. It used to be draped in a large white robe but it deteriorated with time leaving the stone ball joints exposed.

The idea sprung to my mind of Link piloting the "original mecha" in my Mecha Champions AU.

I just bashed Wolf Link, the Fused Shadow and the Hero's Shade together like a gigantic corpse turned into a controllable "mech" that requires a connection to one who shares its soul in order to pilot. The Divine Beasts in this AU would have been modeled after this original Divine Beast but using Sheikah Technology instead of whatever ancient magic was used to construct the first beast.

I still haven't figured out Princess Zelda... she's definitely their leader still and needs to have some sort of struggle with her innate powers but I don't have an idea for a mech for her if she pilots one or how she would function with the other champions if she isn't in a mech... Could I base a mech on the Goddess Statue? Who knows.

I really can't go down into the rabbit hole like this. I have so many things in my head that I want to explore, but I don't have the time to fully flesh them all out. That's life though.

I saw the actress cast for Zelda and thought "wow, she looks really young for a 21 year old" and then I remember that people still ask me what grade I'm attending at school...

Honestly I'm glad the movie is going for a young version of the characters because I don't like the recent trend of "mature" fantasy. I wish the movie was animated and I don't know if I will watch it, but I hope they go for a beautiful whimsical look divorced from reality. Make the non human looking characters stylized instead of "realistic". I'm sick of reality. I want pure fantasy which is why I don't really like live action or games imitating life with their models and textures.

I have a headcanon about Link and his relationship with his father although it doesn't have a lot of substance to go off of in the canon BotW material.

I think Link really looked up to his father as a role model and was always meeting his father's expectations in his life through his talent and accomplishments. Despite the positive relationship they had, his willingness to meet expectations weighed on his mind especially after drawing the Master Sword where suddenly he has to meet the expectations of an entire kingdom to save them from calamity.

Compared to Zelda, Link was perfect in his role, but since he was always perfect, he feels the need to live up to the expectations people formed around him. I think this is the reason why he stopped talking so much and maintained his stoicism: he feared breaking the illusion of perfection by saying or doing something wrong. If he maintains his neutral expression, people can project this fearless capable hero without knowing his true thoughts. Mipha could see the change in him because they knew each other since childhood while princess Zelda couldn't read him at all which led her to project the insecurities she got from others looking down on her—we also know that prior to him getting the sword, he seemed perfectly neutral when Zelda saw him from afar around the castle when he was just a knight and not the legendary hero. Most people would see his stoicism as something reassuring from the hero destined to save them.

In one memory, Princess Zelda asked him what he would have done if he went against those expectations and we don't get his response. I think that not meeting those expectations was just never in consideration. He didn't have to be the best swordsman since he was a child but he was anyway before he even knew of his destiny unlike Zelda who was saddled with astronomical expectations since birth. He grew up following in his father footsteps willingly and then suddenly he's saddled with the same cosmic weight she had on her shoulders. Something that he genuinely wanted became so much more than he thought possible.

It's interesting to compare the other characters as well since Mipha is naturally talented like Link but her father wanted to hold her back from being a Champion because of his love and concern for her. Her compassion for others reflects her soft upbringing where she had the room to nurture her talents unlike Zelda who was stifled and emotionally distanced from others. Neither of Revali's parents on the other hand are mentioned while he is a self made protege; he clawed his way to the top through effort alone. He didn't struggle with the expectations of others but he had high expectations for himself.

In a way, Link's situation is sort of a mixture of Zelda, Mipha and Revali's situations. He's naturally gifted like Mipha, he holds himself to high personal standards like Revali and he struggles under the weight of destiny like Zelda.

I don't have a lot of free time between work and repairing an old little cottage with my family while my dog wants to retrieve his toys from the river all day long—he's so young here compared to home where he prefers to nap all day. I keep bringing my Switch or 3DS on the weekends but I barely touch them. But it's alright because when I do find time to play video games or draw, it feels more special.
