Gier and Maalik probably have to sleep in different beds most of the time. Gier's coverings can slip or ride up too easily since theyre a bit of a fitful sleeper and accidentally staying pressed up directly against them for too many hours isn't like. Great. The few times they've tried to sleep in the same bed, even with ample precautions, Maalik would still end up with bad soars from where they touched over night. It's not helped at all by the fact Gier is like an octopus in their sleep and tends to snuggle as close as possible to Maalik just as an unconscious thing.

And like, sometimes Gier doesn't want to be wearing that much clothing 24/7. They're getting soars and it's itchy. and just generally uncomfortable always being in what's basically a wet suit.

Which leads to them just having two separate beds in the same room so they can still be close. It broke Maalik's heart to see Gier get even more restless and more prone to waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to get back to sleep. But it's what's necessary for them both to be safe and comfortable.

Maalik spends days trying to track something down after a few too many mornings of waking up alone in their room. He finds plenty of options but none that are Quite right until he stumbles on the perfect thing by accident.

He'd been looking for body pillows that wouldn't degrade instantly from Gier's touch. But when Gier gets home from 'shopping' and goes to lay down and chill out until Maalik gets home they find one of those giant polyester teddy bears in their bed, with the one hat in Maalik's collection that Gier calls 'fugly as all hell' perched up on its head with the matching tie around its neck.

the little one has been glancing up at the tall man for quite some time now. every time he looks down at her though, she quickly looks away in absolute shyness. only one thought would come to mind whenever she looked at him: i wonder what he could see from up there... / presents jade with a tiny younger chihiro who really wants to be carried but is too shy to ask to be carried 😭

        one  moment  she's  looking  up  at  him;  a  towering  figure  dressed  in  black  and  purple.  smiling  as  he  watches  people  pass--  then  the  next  time  she  glances  his  way,  he's  squatting  next  to  her.  long  legs  bent  sharply,  elbows  rested  on  his  thighs.  the  ends  of  his  lavender-grey  scarf  spooling  on  the  floor.  who  would  leave  a  child  here?  who  brought  a  child  here?  a  gloved  hand  comes  up  to  tap  at  his  chin  in  thought.  

  "  are  you  lost?  "  his  tone  soft,  light--  even  by  his  usual  standards.  children  as  a  general  rule  of  thumb  were  rather  sensitive.  he  only  assumes  human  children  were  even  moreso.  so  he  extends  both  hands,  a  very  obvious  gesture  for  'upsies'---  as  he'd  once  heard  it  called.  one  the  girl  responds  to  very  enthusiastically.  "  i'll  take  that  as  a  yes.  come  now,  before  azul  throws  a  fit  about  there  being  a  child  on  the  floor.  "  tucking  the girl against  his  side  as  he  meanders  through  the  main  lobby.  "  have  you  eaten  yet?  "  slowing to adjust her  as  he  nears  the  bar.  "  don't  worry-  haha,  it'll  be  my  treat.  "
