sorry i know the dlc only been out for two days i'm a freak for spoilers

and also it'll take me aaaaages to beat the dlc bosses but, like, i understand why people are Not Pleased with how the story went simply by nature of enough time had passed that everyone had made up better versions of the story to fill in the gaps than there ever was going to be in reality. every shred about the twins in elden ring was so massively compelling in its lack of information that everyone just Made It Better Than It Was and i think i kind of agree that undercutting the radahn/malenia stuff was a WEIRD move but unfortunately i am a huge sucker for the "good" character falling into the exact trap that he's trying to escape. it does something for me. you try to escape the cycle and you merely continue to perpetuate it. also representation win, the little dude was gay the whole time.

idk i just feel like there was no way they were going to finish this off in a way that was going to be.... g...ood? that's not quite the scale i want to be using here because so much of what makes this interesting to begin with is the fact that youre required to read between the gaps in information so when you're then HANDED said information it's going to feel disappointing because it simply doesn't fit in the gaps that you filled in.

I swear I am very normal about this. AU where Marika once cares but it's not enough and her priority lies elsewhere. Here's the inspiration I wrote in company time because my ass was not working.

She looked at her children and thought despite everything how could I still love you. Why was there a place in her numb heart for these two when they resembled everything she hated. She threw them into the pit below and tried not think about it. But how could she? When she looked at the empty space where the crib used to be and thought how can I forget them

(There's the second pic as a treat because ?? They don't exist? Marika has never had a twin with Godfrey? Godwyn is an only child? There might be a locked room in the Sanctuary where servants are not allowed to peak inside, the key is hidden and the room forgotten. But that's normal, isn't it? Every palace has a storage of abandoned things all the time. So what are you talking about? haha I am obviously NOT crying.)

When it comes to Morgott we all can agree he is just build... different✨ (that shoulders five times his head *shivers*) So there are some of my thoughts if u wanna read them because they kinda explain my take on him in this drawing lol

I was thinking recently more about his fur and how it looks on his body. It's patchy, It looks rough and uneven... Even his tail when you look closer, It's shape is more defined by the muscles rather than the hair on it. Every artist drawing him gives him much more fluff and I truly think it's well deserved. And from the game design/lore perspective it's completely understandable. He is made to look grotesque, deformed, aged and ugly even... That's all intended... BUT!

I was thinking... What if it's mostly just lack of... maintenance? Lack of care. Malnourishment and neglect of a kind? We know that the Erdtree has a kind of sickening effects on Omens as well. Mohg is for sure holding up much better and I kind of don't believe they would be so much different from eachother (the influence of Formless Mother on Mohgs looks is after all not entirely known). He has more pride in himself and so he carries himself better than his brother that is still loyal and so close to the Golden Order. Mohg took his chance at getting away from the Erdtree and I think it is obvious that this freedom did him some good. I personally belive that Morgott could also achive such change if it wasn't for his deep rooted loyality to the Order and crippling self-resentment.

So to sum my thoughts up... What if he's just not thriving?

Just imagine this kind of idealistic scenario when he can finally put his needs first. When he can take care of himself or let others care for him. He puts on some more weight, rounding up his already muscular body giving it softer, healthier look. His furr thickens and follows up to the rest of his body not just limbs (could be just as thick as the rest or more like a soft fuzz maybe idk). His posture straightens, as with healthy body comes healthy mind. Of course, he is still an old man at the end of it. The years made their mark on his features and some of them are irreversable. But he is healing~

And I personaly love imaginging him in this healing state that unfortuntly is impossible to get in game. But game is game and fan work is fan work. And in my tiny rotten brain I give him little forehead kisses and tell him how precious he is uwu

useless piece of information: malenia always follows up with a grab after she breaks your guard with a kick. it is possible to roll out the way as your stamina regens fast enough on it's own, but i still thought it was pretty cool that she can do this

Trust me I know what the formless mother is thinking. It revealed to me in a dream. The outer god has reached me. Anyways the lands of shadow’s formless mother franchise is not looking good. (Sorry bloodfiend. why do you have a weapon that is just called… fork?)

I used to draw FM as in Miquella’s egg with a arm, but now had to change to a bloody flesh of armless meat. Don’t know if this is a downgrade or not but girl your range of appearance is WIDE.

like yes, he did enjoy the thrill of battle greatly but that isn't all! it never was!!

he may have inherited his father's flaming red hair, but he is also a carian, he is also rennala's son.... because dear god, this man holds much love in his heart still.

he loved his horse, so much so he learned gravity magic and made it a significant part of his fighting style.

he loved rykard, or else why would he have the abductor virgin (though rykard may have overshot the line of what was needed with the amount he sent... clearly as seen in that cave lol) in redmane castel? why else would his painting be proudly displayed in volcano manor, if not because he and his brother loved eachother??

he clearly loved messmer and gaius too, as they too are like brothers to him.

and ranni... oh when it comes to ranni people love to paint it like they couldn't stand eachother, and perhaps there is some truth to it. perhaps they did argue over their difference in ideals and the topic of the golden order. and yet, radahn held back the very stars that determine the fate of the carians... including ranni's, a fate that was bound to her status as an empyrean and the two fingers, something she hated, something he must have had known.

some may claim it a coincidence, but the connection is too obvious for that. so i call bullshit. sure, perhaps the thrill of such a battle was a motivator, but i say he also very much, perhaps most of all even, did this for ranni.

yes, general radahn the great starscourge was a warrior, a lion bred for battle, one who idolized godfrey greatly.

but he remains a carian, a child of rennala, to love and care is as much in his nature as it is in his mother's, aunt's, brother's and sister's.

I’m literally never gonna shut up about all the possibilities there are in him being a snake so. Do we think Marika had a capital F freak out when Messmer was born and then calmed down only to have another when postnatal shed

(For references snakes usually have their first shed around a week and a half after hatching, though it can be sooner or later. Some snakes shed as early as an hour after!)

(sort of personal rambling post about my feelings about it, not looking for lore discussions)

its so obvious to me that base game radahn and dlc radahn are two entirely different entities really

one is a nigh mindless mess of what remains of a respected and once, and still in a way, very powerful general, like a tragic memory of what once was, even in this zombie like condition you can get an idea of who he was, even if only a little bit, the way he fights in synch with leonard for example

the other a recreation of him but like it was made by someone who didnt know him at all, shallow and surface level, either unintentionally so bc he really didnt know him well (and didnt care to get to know him) or intentionally made into somethign that fit miquellas IDEA of him, who he wanted but not who he really was, it shares name and design traits, to some degree fighting style, but it lacks "him", he has no voice, no shift in expression, he does whatever miquella wants, a perfectly obedient, silent, animated statue (even more obvious in second phase ...)

i mentioned it in a previous post but even his changed designed feels strangely off, basic elements are there (red hair, yellow eyes, golden lion theme) but it lacks cohesion (imo), like an action figure not a real person, its shiny and cool looking but doesnt make sense for him, he even has the sixpack armor thing, and overall a roman aesthetic to him, mulitple braids in his hair (a trait of miquella), useless swords hang around his waist, arms exposed, overall incredibly thin compared to base game radahn (be it just the armor or not), like designed by someone who has no or little idea of how swordfight works, almost .. childishly cliché

and yes, the fact that leonard is entirely missing is significant in my eyes, he is very important to radahn, its one of the few things we actually know about the real radahn, but miquella probably either didnt know or doesnt care, he doesnt care about leonard, of course he isnt here

"promised consort", promised by who to whom? if miquella, perfect little miquella, says it is promised to him, it has to be true and good and no one would would dare suggest hed lie (i dont think radahn would like that title either, ...like even his title in the end isnt about who he really is)

its all about what miquella wants, his perspective is told to you over and over- what radahn wants, his perspective, what he believes in doesnt matter, radahn doesnt matter, the only thing that matters is how he can serve miquella, how this idealized, silent puppet that is nothing of himself apart from basic design traits and name obeys miquella

by rot or by miquella, just a mindless toy whenever you see him

and it just makes me sad and angry ......... its tragic but so much so that it borders on cruelty for crueltys sake, it was never about radahn :(
