My observations from s4 of Umbrella Academy
I dont even wanna talk about the main plot of whatever the fuck that car crash of a season four was, but heres some plot discrepancies I noticed while watching Umbrella Academy.
!! Season four spoilers under the 'see more' !!
- Luther's unnecessary body change
It's stated so clearly in s1 that Luther never gained his body from the marigold or developed it along with his powers. When he was up on that mission on the moon, he had an accident and Pogo had to donate his blood which resulted in Luther having that monkey body we all know and love.
So as Luther drank that said marigold, why would he suddenly gain back the blood donated from pogo and the body that comes along with that..? It's as if the writers themselves forgot why he had that body. Why write in unnecessary body dysphoria for my poor baby?
- Diego's sudden appearance of ab's
Listen. I am the last fucking person to complain about a Diego Hargreeves shirtless scene, where you see his pecs quite literally bounce BUT why did he change so drastically from 'dad bod' to suddenly 'ripped'?
I read an article interview with Steve Blackman and saw a few snippets from a podcast that explained that David (Diego's actor) didn't want to gain weight for the role, which is totally understandable. But if you have an actor who doesn't want to gain weight for this role, why not just keep Diego as fit?
Due to the short six episodes, it's extremely easy to miss how Diego slowly becomes more fit as time progressed. For most, and also myself at first, that fighting scene just looked confusing as fuck. Like two episodes before, Lila was calling you 'tubby' (or whatever the fuck she said), so why do you have abs now?? Where did the dilf diego dad bod disappear to :(
- Allison's beloved Ray just leaving her
I'm not sure if i'm taking this the wrong way completely but... In the scene after Allison had given Klaus the marigold against his wishes, but also to save his life. As Klaus is calling out every member of the family, he mentions how he 'took care of Allison when Ray walked out'.
Like i'm sorry but the fuck do you mean Ray just walked out?? Why did he leave Allison if she had no powers. She'd clearly built a better life for herself and began to change her mindset for the better, compared to s3 she's drastically better.
It's never explained (probably again for the lack of episodes) and it's never even mentioned again. Like does Allison share custody of Claire with Ray? Does Claire even see her father? I have so many questions and once again, a severe lack of answers.
- Klaus breaking his five year sobriety
As much as us as an audience are aware of Klaus' addictive tendencies and his utter thirst for form of drug in the former seasons, but why establish that he's not only been sober for three entire years but he's also now a huge germaphobe just for him to ruin it in five seconds.
The main problem I had with this is the fact none of the siblings, including and most importantly Allison, had zero reaction to this. They weren't upset, angry, disappointed or fuck it even happy. They practically ignored the fact their brothers three year detox went out the window.
Five's ability to time jump
Before I get you all jumping up my arse, i'm fully aware I could discuss how they completely just fucked his character development and his entire personality as a whole for a shitty romance that made absolutely no sense but I'm gonna make a separate post on that because oh boy do I have some shite to say.
ANYWAY.
I can't even go into much detail with this one but why is it that every time five attempts to do his time jumps, he ends up in that subway but when he does it with Lila in that end episode.. he can suddenly just jump..?? normally?? Like why. Why can he now only just time jump as he used too. WHY WAS THE SUBWAY NEEDED FOR OTHER THAN FOR THAT AWFUL FIVE X LILA PLOT????
It's as if the writers couldn't come up with a way to get the brellies into that building with Ben so instead of using critical thinking and writing them breaking in, they just said 'fuck it make him time jump with Lila'. Like no I have questions??
#umbrella academy im so disappointed and just overall let down by this#i honestly thought the ending itself was a good ending on its own#it was bound to happen ever since this cycle of ending the world began. they were the problem#its just these discrepancies and the awful plot lines#like why#diego hargreeves#umbrella academy#umbrella academy spoilers#umbrella academy season 4#klaus hargreeves#luther hargreeves#allison hargreeves#five hargreaves x reader#five hargreeves#diego hargreeves x reader#the umbrella academy

i wanna talk about this scene because its one of my favourite character moments for both aaron and neil. theyve just gotten to the cabin, only a handful of days after nathans death, and aaron gets neil alone and says this:
now listen. maybe what aaron is doing here is exactly what it looks like. maybe he is concerned that neil is exploiting andrew, and this is him being a protective brother. and i do think theres a part of him that is. he could also be reacting badly due to homophobia, and maybe a part of him is too. but mostly -
he's testing neil.
see, aarons not totally heartless. in that moment in baltimore, when neil was bloody and beaten to shit - aaron was horrified with the rest of them. he might not like neil particularly much, but when you see someone you moderately dislike tortured past the point of human endurance, youre going to put aside your dislike for a second. youre going to take their side, and aaron does. when the foxes claim neil, aaron is right up there with them.
but unlike neil and andrew, who spend the next few days in the emotional wringer with the feds, aaron had several days to process. to really process what allison pointed out to them.
and he realized he could use it.
maybe thats callous of him, but mostly its inevitable; this is how the twins have learned to communicate, to leverage each other with bribes and threats. he watched andrew nearly kill kevin, pick a fight with the feds, grip neils hoodie like he might disappear if he didnt hold on tight enough, and he understood that there was nothing andrew wouldnt do for neil.
meanwhile, neil is still coming off of weeks of telling himself, gritted teeth, its fine so long as andrew doesnt care about me, its fine so long as andrew doesnt care about me, its fine so long as andrew doesnt care about me...
hes barely begun to acknowledge the much less dangerous fact that he has feelings for andrew. less dangerous because if andrew doesnt care about him, then neils death wont hurt him, and neils feelings cant be hurt if hes the one that dies. but if andrew has feelings for him, then this whole time hes been risking that his death would break andrew - break the very person he most wants to protect.
so neil denies it. hes made the first wobbly step towards freedom, but he hasnt yet dealt with the moriyamas. he could still die at any moment. wrapping his head around his fathers death hasnt given him enough time to break those weeks of conditioning himself in the dark. andrew doesnt care about me. andrew cant care about me. neil will go to war for andrew but the idea that the converse is true is too dangerous to look at directly. to protect andrew, to protect himself, he denies it.
but when aaron asks neil if andrew will fight for him, he's not really asking. we can see it in the casual way he shrugs off neils denial. he doesnt care what neil says. he wants to see what neil does. he already knows - or has a pretty strong bet - what andrew will do. what he needs to know is if neil is serious.
listen, i am personally of the belief that if andrew released aaron from his deal for neils sake and then things went sour with neil, andrew would respect the broken deal anyway. but i dont think aaron sees that - he hasnt yet fully internalized that andrew does things out of his own brand of fairness, and not out of malice. so he needs to know; andrew will fight for this. will neil?
so he lobs a grenade at neil, a loaded accusation, and neil comes back swinging. and theres aarons answer. neil isnt exploiting andrew, hes not just playing around. hes as viciously protective of andrew as andrew is of him and those two repressed assholes might not be saying it with words, but aarons not stupid. andrew gave himself away when neil went missing and now neils showed his hand too.
neils right. he has been had, and hes just lucky that what aaron wants is exactly what neil wanted anyway.

[pairing] SEPARATELY gojo x reader, nanami x reader, choso x reader
[a/n]
[cw] fluff, fluff, fluff, choso cries, gojo spoils you, nanami talks to you, comfort
Gojo Satoru
The first visit went something like this;
“Fuck baby, are you okay?” Gojo say’s as he busts into the room, hair and clothes disheveled.
“I’m okay baby, nothing big” You reply back to him in a calm tone, trying not to showcase how scared you were due to the severity of the injuries.
“Just a few broken bones and scratches here and there, nothing vital.”
“Just a few? Babe you literally broke more then 5 bones at the same time, that’s got to hurt some how.” Gojo whisper shouts as to not seem mad at you.
“Doctors say I’ll be fine, just need a lot of rest and to lie down for a while.” You reply smiling to try to lift Gojo’s spirt.
Gojo looks defeated and sad, his eyes overfilling up with tears that run down his cheeks.
“You promise you’ll be okay?” It was silly to make a promise over this, but to let Gojo rest a little, you’ll agree to anything.
“Just for you ‘toru, I promise I’ll be fine”
Gojo continued to visit you day after day after breaking down in front of you. You couldn’t be more grateful for the company you receive daily, it gets lonely when your in a plain white room. But as soon as you mention it to Gojo, he instantly orders staff to move you to the best room they had ASAP, saying that he would cover the room fees. As you try to tell him he didn’t need to do this for you, he insisted its the least he could do for you right now while you were so vulnerable to others.
When you finally got release with a lot of medication for pain and recovery, Gojo opted to bring you to his penthouse for you to regain your strength slowly but surely in safety. Everyone instantly agreed to it due to how secure his house was from security and staff he hired (just for you he would add but he just said he hired them a while ago).
The food the private chef made was amazing, always making your prefered taste of food at your request. But as soon as a mistake was made, Gojo flipped out and told you he could fire them and hire a new one if you just said the word. You of course deny and say it was just a small mistake and that they were really kind towards you.
Anyway, Gojo would absolutely spoil the shit out of you all the way through.
Nanami Kento
He seemed unreasonably calm on the outside to others, but you knew him better then that. You knew he was suffering as much as you were.
Nanami always brings a present when he visits you, whether the gift were flowers or food or candy, you most enjoyed his company he brought with him.
He sits beside you at all times while he visits, updating you on what’s happened outside while you ask him to explain something further. You just enjoy the sound of his voice over the constant beeping of the machines your connected to.
He never asked you about your injuries, you think he ask the doctors about it daily, but he never brought up why you were in the hospital in the first case. You think its probably to take your mind off it, but either way, you couldn’t thank him more for being with you as much as he could be.
Overall, he just loves to give you gifts on his visits, you have a large pile of items he’s brought along with him next to the window. Your mind is always all over the place but when he visits, it seemingly calms down and just listens to him, tuning out the outside world
Choso Kamo
He always manages to tear up at all of his visits, whether it was because he had a bad day, or because he just really missed you. You’d bring his face up closer to you and start kissing all around his face in attempt to calm him down each time he broke down sobbing. After his sobs starts turning into sniffles, you place a big kiss on his lips and over his eye lids. After a while longer, you hear his breathing even out as he lays next to you on the small cramped bed, falling asleep.
He never fails to fall asleep with you, dragging you with him into dreamland. Keeping your mind off reality whenever he’s there.

On Charles, Edwin and Crystal's relationship with violence and how it does(and doesn't) solve their peoblems, and the inherit privledge of considering non-violence can always be the answer.
Before I get to it, sorry I cannot for the life of me find the post that talked about DBDA's relationship to violence aka that it shows that there is always a better solution and how most of the problems are solved through other means. It is a really good post, so if anyone knows it, please send me the link so I can put it here.
Anyway. What I wanted to say is that while yes, I partially agree, I don't think that's quite correct. Or not always. The series definitely makes a point of saying that things should be solved by other means whenever possible, but I think we see 3 instances where that isn't true. The first meeting with The Night Nurse and Charles, Crystal meeting David in the woods, and in part, Charles getting Edwin out of Hell.
Before I get to breaking down how each one was necessary, I think what kind of bothers me is the reaction Edwin and Crystal have to Charles attacking the Night Nurse. Not so much the inital reaction because I understand that they both have trauma connected to violence, but them insisting his reaction was extreme slightly...irks me?
I understand it from Crystal-she had a lot on her plate in the past few weeks and she just got out of abusive rs. Not to mention, she doesn't know Charles and Edwin for that long. But Edwin? My god did I wanna shake him.
Like, don't get me wrong, I love Edwin to death and the fact that he is flawed is part of that but I wish it was acknowledged that his disregard for self defense and to be able to not only refuse violence, but in many cases when Charles steps in to protect him to not even move aside because he knows Charles is there for what it is-a privledge. The fact that he never had ti physically defend himself ever since he got out of Hell is a privledge because Charles does it. And to no small personal cost. I don't think Charles likes to be violent. He doesn't revel in it, and we actually see him break down several times over thinking he is a bad person because he uses violence to defend himself and his friends.
Does he sometimes use it impulsively? Yes, as seen in the episode with the Devlins'. And he pays dearly for hi error, being stuck in a loop that's directly related to his own trauma.
But in some situations, there was no other answer. The Night Nurse would have made him and Edwin relieve their trauma until they gave in. Crystal couldn't help and in that moment, neither could Niko. Charles' violence gave them more time, which gave Edwin and then Niko, more time to think of a peaceful solution. Of a bargain. But it would not have been possible without Charles kicking her off the cliff.
For the scene with David in the woods-yeah, sure he didn't solve the whole problem of David altogether, but he did A) male him fuck off for the forseeable future and B) helped Crystal feel safer due to the fact he defended her when she was powerless. With the violence, he gives her time to gain her powers back, to come and resolve it directly when she feels safe and confident enough to do so.
We see it once again when he goes to save Edwin in Hell. Yes, they get out of Hell by running, but when Charles initally suggests it, Edwin is terrified. "If I run it chases me," he says and he doesn't move. So what does Charles do? He throws a bomb at the Dollhead Spider. Which once again, gives them time to run and escape and perhaps more importantly makes Edwin feel safe.
Violence is considered bad for a reason. But I think who and why someone uses violence is very important. A bully throwing a hit for fun and a victim throwing one back to defend themselves aren't the same. They cannot be the same. And bullies, no matter the form they take, sometimes only understand violence.
I am not saying go ahead and kill someone for bullying you. But I am saying that sometimes, the teachers don't listen until you throw a punch back. Problems should always be tried to solved peacefully, but if you think every problem can be solved non-violently, I think you had the privledge to never have to do so.
Charles takes on the burden of being a protector, of using violence as means of protection and I really hope that's acknowledged at some point. Because while yes, Edwin obviously has his own talents, Charles does his job at a great personal cost. And sometimes, while violence cannot solve the root of the problem, it can give you more time and space to get to the root. And that's okay, as long as you don't lose sight of why are you using measures you are using.

Spears Crossed
LISTEN. Nobody said I was good at titles, okay? Spear Lessons was bad enough, but I didn't wanna just call this Spear Lessons Part Two, you know??
Anyway, this is the second part to Spear Lessons. I am completely addicted to medieval sparring youtube now and there is no turning back for me. Also might be a little in love with Raphael, but that's a different problem.
GN!MC x Raphael
Warnings: none, 'tis still fluff
You stood in the RAD coliseum, your feet spread and knees lowered in a fighting stance. You clutched a spear in one hand, held up and slightly behind yourself, waiting. The large space was filled with tense silence.
Across from you, still several feet away, Raphael stood straight, but relaxed. His spear was held in his hand, pointing up to the ceiling. He seemed perfectly composed as he kept his eyes on you.
You crouched slightly, waiting for him to make the first move.
When Raphael stepped back, bringing his spear down into position, you knew he was deliberately going slow enough for you to see what he was doing. It irritated you just a little. After all this time, why was he still going easy on you?
Because of this, you were prepared for his lunge. You brought your spear down and around, tucking it on the inside of his to easily knock it to the side. It stabbed past your head harmlessly.
You took advantage of the moment and stepped forward into your own thrust, aiming the tip of your spear at his chest.
Raphael stepped backward, pulling the tip of his spear just beneath yours so it was positioned to knock you out of the way.
Your spear listed to the side a little as you pulled it back into yourself, rearranging into a prepared stance. The tips of your spears were now crossed and they clanked against each other faintly as you each shuffled your feet in preparation for the next attack.
It was a split second decision for you to take the offense, stepping forward before Raphael could, bringing your spear into line to hit him.
Raphael deflected your spear almost too easily. He may have started slow for your benefit, but you recognized when he got serious.
That was when his spear slid across the top of yours, the tip aimed right at your neck.
Your best choice was to duck, so you did. You took several steps backward to further avoid the strike. Then you turned a little to re-enter the fighting space and thrust your own spear out at Raphael. You kept your dominant hand on the bottom of the spear, using your arm's strength to send it out from you as far as it would go.
You nearly clipped him, but Raphael knocked it aside in time.
You were breathing a little heavily now, but you were proud of yourself for getting that close.
You didn't let up. You decided a series of quick thrusts was the way to go - throw him off by not letting him take a break from defending against you.
You moved forward with each thrust, your feet carrying you across the coliseum floor easily, the continual jabs from the spear being repelled each time. But you noted how Raphael's parries were getting sloppier and sloppier as you pressed him.
So you continued, kept going until you saw the perfect opening. Raphael's spear was already slightly off to the side due to meeting your last thrust. So you used your own spear to press his down, forcing the tip to the ground. Then you thrust, letting your spear slide up the length of his until the point reached his throat.
If you had been fighting for real, he would be dead.
Raphael looked at you over the tip of your spear, which was made of a harmless rubber and was now bent in half against his neck. His surprised expression suddenly melted into a smile and your heart constricted when you saw the pride there.
You laughed, overwhelmed at the fact that you had finally beat him. For months now, you had been sparring here in the coliseum and you had never once managed to hit him. Every time, Raphael deflected your attacks.
You dropped your sparring spear, a simple thing made of wood, letting it clank against the ground.
"I did it!" you exclaimed.
You didn't wait for a reaction from Raphael, you simply ran toward him and flung your arms around his neck.
There was another clank as Raphael dropped his own spear - also for practice and made of wood and rubber. His arms caught you and he stepped back a few paces from your momentum.
You suddenly found yourself staring directly into those blue eyes. They were as calm as they always were, but there was something else there now. A spark of feeling that you couldn't quite decipher. It was more than pride, it was fondness, it was accomplishment.
Memories flashed through your mind - all the days you had come here with your practice spear, ready to lose yet again. Every time Raphael had carefully shown you the nuances of handling the spear correctly. Whenever he took the time to explain to you what you were doing wrong. The adrenaline of a sparring match firing you up, the rapid beating of your heart, from exertion and exhilaration and something else you couldn't quite admit to.
"I'm proud of you, MC," Raphael said. "You've really mastered the use of the spear."
It was such a simple statement. It was just like him to say something like that to you so easily, with all his emotions simmering beneath them. He remained so calm upon the surface, but his words gave him away.
"You were still holding back," you said quietly. "I saw how you fell into the stance so slowly. Don't do that next time, okay?"
Raphael chuckled. "I won't, I promise."
You pulled an arm back so you could let your fingertips brush through his hair, just barely catching the edges of the gold diamonds.
All the feelings that had built up inside you throughout the time you'd been learning from Raphael finally spilled over.
It seemed that Raphael could see it happening in your eyes because his arms tightened around you.
That was all the encouragement you needed. You cupped his face with your hands and kissed him.
The spark you'd seen in his eyes flared up between you instead, a swirling flutter in your stomach as he returned your kiss.
You pulled away with a little gasp, your nerves jangling.
Raphael's eyes were shining. "MC," he said. "I want to give you something."
He let go of you, though you could feel the reluctance as he did. You waited, watching him.
Raphael lifted a hand, a glow surrounded him, and the rain of spears he was so well known for began. You didn't need to step out of the way because you knew they wouldn't touch you.
And they didn't. They didn't even hit the ground. Raphael grabbed one and the rest disappeared. It looked just like the Celestial Realm spear he had been using that day you first saw him on the grass on the RAD campus. Bright and shining, all gold and steel.
Raphael held it out to you. "I want you to have this."
Your eyes widened. "Y-you… what?"
He smiled, stepped closer to you, lifted one of your hands to hold the spear with his. "You've earned it," he said. "And if there's ever a day when you need to defend yourself for real, you'll have a weapon that will never fail you."
The thoughtfulness of this gesture made you feel like you might explode into a tiny burst of spears yourself.
"Are you sure?" you asked.
Raphael's expression became serious. "I have never been so sure of anything in my life."
You turned into him, overwhelmed. And although the bright and shining spear was still clutched between you, Raphael kissed you again. It was full of all the things he hadn't said - everything you already knew from the look in his eyes and the spear in your hand.
It was a bit risky, perhaps. You were both keenly aware of what had happened the last time an angel fell in love with a human. But you were also prepared for any adversity that happened to come your way. Even if it meant that in the end, it would only be the two of you and some stolen Celestial Realm spears.

If this is triggering pls skip I don't wanna make you uncomfortable in anyway 🩷, but how would J feel if he found out his S/O has an abusive boss? Ik he would be angry and stuff but what would he do?
Hey nonnie🫂I totally get it, I work in an abusive workplace myself so I understand. I hope this offers you & anyone else who can relate some comfort. We deserve better.💖
J would definitely be angry.
However, and this is the bit you might not like - he'd be angry at your boss and at you.
Angry at your boss for abusing their staff rather than adhering to the duty of care which employers legally have towards their employees, and angry at you for staying there for as long as you do once the red flags starts to stack up.
He wonders what the straw will be which breaks the camel's back - what will it take for you to leave?
J's highly intelligent, he understands the dynamics of any kind of abusive relationship. He knows it's hard to spot the signs, more so if the abuse is happening at work. He knows that once you're in an abusive relationship, it's even harder to leave. He knows the logistics; you need the money, the economy doesn't have many jobs going right now so you need to stay where you are... on and on the reasons go as to why you can't - won't - leave your workplace.
But that doesn't mean he has to like it. J doesn't have to like it, not one bit.
He's watched you come home in tears on multiple occasions, and he's heard from some of his men that you've cried on your way home in the streets, too, though that's subtler than how you cry in the shower when you think he isn't home. He's home more than you think he is. J takes good care of what's his and how can he take care of you if he isn't home?
J is angry at you for not leaving, but he understands that it's easier said than done, he's seen it time and again in the people who walk the streets with their shoulders curled inwards and their heads down, like the weight of the world is slowly settling on their shoulders, hammering them closer to the ground as they get stomped on each and every day.
Your boss is the hammer, and you're the nail.
One more good swing, J reckons, and you're done for.
Except it doesn't seem to be, as you take swing after swing after swing, and still you go to work, still you try your best, still you kill yourself to live. And J's frustration grows and grows; you don't have to live like this, but you want to work, you don't want to live solely off of J's lucrative crimes. It's tempting sometimes, and you'd be a liar if you said it wasn't.
But you're too proud for that, and so you take the hits without leaving your abusive boss.
Realising after some months that you're not going to do anything about your situation of your own accord - it's been years - J starts to intervene in his own ways. Making sure there's an accident on the road your boss takes to work so that they are delayed for some time, making sure that they can't get the coffee they want first thing in the morning due to some kind of supplying issue even though they had it in abundance yesterday morning... on and on the inconveniences go, and their severity depends on how much you were abused the last time you were at work.
J holds you when you cry, he listens to you rant, he gives you sage advice only when you ask for it, and he only listens when you don't. He supports you, in his own ways, but he's very angry, make no mistake. His tone is especially biting when you make threats to quit, and he thinks finally, and then you don't. You stay. That same nail in the same wall with that same hammer.
How much more can you take, J wonders? He's proud of you, he's angry at you, he cares and he is curious about what you're going to do. All of these things at once, his thoughts like trains with no final destinations, but he knows that one day you will leave, and he will celebrate with you when you do.

Hi I hope I’m not bothering you but I just finished reading the reenactment fanfics and I was wondering if you’d be open to make one about “Princess and the Frog” or “Mulan” those are the only films that I remember the character having a more “got get it/work for it” attitude and relate a lot to that plus the yans would be interesting to read (to me at least I mean it’s ur writing not mine) anyway thx for the attention hope u have a great day and keep writing awsome fics :>
From 👻 anon
Hello 👻anon! Thank you so much for the touching compliment! I was wondering which fairytale to do next, so I'm glad you suggested either of those. Although it's been a long while since I've watched Princess & The Frog, I'm going to try my hand at that one since I love the story. For those who prefer a male yandere, don't worry! I'm planning on writing another version of this fairytale for you ღ
.·:*¨ ✘- It Takes Two to Tango - ✘ ¨*:·.
Characters: Yan!Charlotte x Female (Y/N) in Tiana's role In which Charlotte intends to take the only desire she can't buy: her best friend
A Tale in the Baking
When you reincarnated into your new world, you were sleeping soundly in bed with a young, blonde girl who wore a frilly dress that scratched your skin. You were pretty confused and somewhat panicked about your predicament: your childlike appearance drastically contrasted from the mature adult life you've been leading. It wasn't until the end of the week that it finally dawned that you were in the middle of the fairytale "The Princess and the Frog."
Your father, James, had passed recently. Your mother, Eudora, shared his dream of owning a restaurant to you several times already as she reminisced her late husband. Of course, you provided as much comfort as you could. Charlotte visited your home every two days, more clingy than you remembered her being in the movie (likely due to the event).
Now, while you weren't aiming to follow exactly in the true protagonist's footsteps, the prospect of owning your own restaurant sparked a fire in your heart. It was ridiculously difficult to try to own even a car in your previous world. However, there was a key difference in that world and the current one: your family was close with the La Bouffs, the wealthy family Charlotte is from.
As you grew older, you became a confident young woman who didn't dare let a soul deceive her in any way. Because your relationship with Charlotte also grew, you vowed to never let anyone deceive her as well. She was veracious and at times ill-mannered, but you knew deep down that she was also naive. You weren't sure of what the true protagonist did outside of what was told in her tale, but it was your story now. So, you defended Charlotte at every corner & convinced her to tell you of any hardships she had--or of anything, really.
Who knew that such actions intended to protect her would ultimately backfire?
Lollygagging
Ever since she was little, Charlotte dreamed of a prince coming to rescue her from trouble. She'd ramble on and on about this dream to you, who listened to her oh so intently. As time passed, this dream took a different turn. She pondered about it often, twisting the idea in her palm left and right while guys fawned over her.
One night, her father came into her room and introduced an opportunity of a lifetime: to marry Prince Naveen of Maldonia. She was ecstatic and agreed right then and there. In that same week, however, she began having second thoughts.
She visited the restaurant you worked at alone soon after. Picking up her sour mood, you took your break early and sat with her at a table, inquiring whatever was the matter. For someone like her to display such an downcast face in public was a rarity. She told you about her worries. Was marrying Naveen the right choice? What if he wasn't as great of a prince as she hoped he would be? What if she wouldn't be happy after all?
After comforting her softly, you chuckled and cheerily reassured her that everything would be well. Marrying him would mean she'd have both her best friend and the prince in her life!
(You were really hoping they'd get married. On top of Charlotte's happiness, the prince would be a great advantage in your career.)
Charlotte left the restaurant with a laugh, but your support left her heart heavier than before.
At the masquerade ball hosted by her father in honor of Naveen's arrival, Charlotte escaped to your side at every chance. As much as you loved her, her constant presence was disrupting the anxiousness you were trying to keep down. The story had already started off on the wrong foot. Where Charlotte was meant to introduce her potential relationship with her father Big Daddy was instead Big Daddy stopping by to eat with one of his clients at your restaurant, sharing the exciting news.
Once Charlotte darted into the kitchen for the eighth time that night with another excuse to talk to you, you gripped her by the shoulders, instructed her to be a good host and tend to her guests, and to not search for you until the night concluded.
Charlotte hated how you pushed away--hated hated HATED it. But still, she'd do it for you. She'd do it because you trusted she'd listen.
In the meantime, you waited in Charlotte's room until a frog jumped onto your balcony. You already knew you were going to be outbid for the mill (just like how it was in the fairytale), so you weren't wasting any time crying over a destined lost investment. When Naveen in his frog form entered the home, you rolled his eyes at his request to help him find a princess and agreed as long as he married Charlotte regardless of whatever was to happen that night. He had no problem with that.
Lucky for you, knowledge from your past life would serve your career well. You told Naveen that because Big Daddy was crowned Mardi Gras king recently, Charlotte would be a princess. All you two needed to do was to wait for the party to end.
Barely Lovely Triangle
As you suspected, Charlotte came running up to you after the ball had concluded. She chided you with tears in her eyes for leaving her alone for so long. You apologized, saying you only wanted the best for her and the Prince and that you being there likely would've prevented any action from her towards him. She begrudgedly agreed before going on to share how wonderful the dance was. She'd never danced like a royal until that day.
You nodded and "uh huh"-ed and dropped compliments as she talked. Once she concluded, you asked her to please listen to what you were about to say. She guessed the matter had to be serious enough for you to possess such a tone, but she hadn't expect an explanation about the frog beside you.
She pointed at him, a corner of her lip lifted in uncertainty. "So he's a prince, the one I was just dancing with was a fake, so I have to kiss that him to bring the prince back?"
You nodded. "Yup. Do you believe me?"
"I....I do. But what's going to happen to the fake one?"
"He'll be exposed in no time. Please, Charlotte? For me?"
Oh, you know she can't resist any request if it's for you.
Naveen, truth be told, transformed right then and there, into a dashing human of royal blood. After talking about you three's lives for a little while, he bid farewell and wished to meet you and Charlotte again soon. Knowing better now, Naveen kept his distance from danger, and low and behold, Lawrence--the man who had disguised as Naveen with the help of an evil talisman--was arrested for fraud.
Surprisingly, that was the start of a friendship trio. You, Charlotte, and Naveen hung out together every now and then in different locations. Of course, you and Charlotte remained closer than ever, but you were relieved to at least have a breath of fresh air. You didn't really have that many friends in city because you were so engrossed in either work or plotting against a destined marriage you didn't want. You were especially glad that Charlotte and even her father weren't keen on getting Charlotte married as soon as possible. Maybe with how things turned out, you no longer needed to worry about the fairytale's plot.
Too bad Naveen eventually falls in love with you anyway.
His proposal came during one of those days where only two of the three in the group were hanging out together. He happened to stop by your restaurant as you finished your shift and offered to walk you home after stopping by another location. You accepted, but you later wished you didn't once the proposal at a beautiful park happened. You rejected him kindly and reminded him that he had a duty to fulfill, and that was marrying your friend. He apologized. You felt bad, but you weren't in love with the guy! Plus, you wanted that restaurant of yours more than anything in that world. No man was going to stop your dream.
You shared what happened the next day to Charlotte at her house. In contrast to the rant you expected from her, she was...eerily calm. She inquired about the person who has your heart, and to that you told her you didn't have anyone. She nodded and recommended you stay away from Naveen for a bit. Men can take rejection quite rough was the summary of her small spiel about men this and men that. And according to her recommendation (even though you were planning to anyway), you didn't pay Naveen's business any mind. He didn't come around as often.
Over the next couple weeks, Charlotte would visit your home more often to hangout. She'd bring up the topic of romance a couple of times, but your answer remained the same: your love was for her and the restaurant you wished to own.
You'd ask about her and the prince every now and then. Her answer was the same: she wasn't as sure about marrying him anymore.
Love is the Secret Ingredient
At last, Naveen's proposal came in the privacy of a beautiful park with a pavilion and crispy lake. He had set up a picnic for Charlotte and him. They chatted as they ate, and once they concluded their afternoon meal, he popped the question.
Although Charlotte had convinced herself for days that she must accept for her dear friend, she just couldn't.
"I'm sorry, but...I don't think I can do this."
To say Naveen was disappointed was an understatement. Not only did the real thief of his heart reject him, but his business partner and friend also did. Charlotte felt guilty, but imaging herself being stolen away from you was a nightmare! And imagining you being stolen from her.....
Without a proposal to the wealthiest family in the city, Naveen was lost. He had arranged the marriage with Big Daddy to combine their influential powers (Big Daddy's wealth & Naveen's royal title despite being casted out by his family). Luckily, you arranged for him to work with you--to start him on the path of someone in your class.
Charlotte, of course, hated it.
She got an earful from Big Daddy for her rejection, but she didn't care. He would soon lose interest in the proposal as well anyway. After all, she was a Daddy's girl, and he wanted her happy.
Charlotte walked you home almost every work day. Her constant attention made you worry for her own health, but she was a ray of sunshine around you. How hurt could she be?
Soon, Naveen stopped showing up to work. The manager told you that Naveen told him he had lost motivation to work and quit. You were stooped, but when you went to visit the hotel he's been staying at since coming to the city, the receptionist shared that he left two night ago.
Charlotte told you that he happened to overhear her talking about a wealthy friend she had in another city. She arranged for him to go meet and live with the friend at his request.
You scowled with a heavy heart. "Wow. He didn't even bother saying anything to me. How shallow."
Charlotte pouted. "Yeah! He dare he! Guess it's just back to us again, huh?"
You smiled. "Yeah. You get me, Charles."
Adoration flowed through her veins. She was worried you might catch some strange aura off of her, but she wasn't lying. The situation was just premeditated. Within a week, Naveen should arrive at the hotel Charlotte had pointed him to just to find out her friend (she gave her a fake name, of course) had already left that hotel present day's tomorrow. There was no way he could afford the trip back to New Orleans. His entire trip to get there was funded by Charlotte herself.
Two months passed before a letter arrived in your mailbox. The mill that you had lost during Charlotte's ball was bought from the previous owner, and the lawyer inquired if you still wanted the property. You didn't waste any time meeting with them. You intended to sign it over to yourself, but the lawyer suggested another property--one that was more spacious and had much more potential. He offered it at the same price, just as long as you took one or the other. You accepted the second option.
Charlotte was elated to see how thrilled you were. Because you used up most of your savings on signing over the new space, she offered to help renovate the place using her money with refusal for objects. She even asked if she could work for you whenever she had time! You couldn't help but be grateful for your dear friend. You were typically too busy for other friendships, but never too busy for Charlotte.
From then on, life was like a fairytale. You worked your butt off at your new restaurant and taught Charlotte the ins and outs of active involvement. She loved it. She loved working with you. She loved watching you negotiate with hagglers and host events to promote the place. Because you were often exhausted by the end of the day, she suggested (quite strongly) that you and your mom move into her home. It was safer that you come home with someone, and her house was so big, you'd have all the privacy you want!
(Don't expect much privacy from her, though).
Suitors weren't a rare occurrence. You became quite a sought after individual as your business grew. But Charlotte knew how you felt and ensured anything causing your stress was taken care of. You tell her everything, after all!
And of course, she tells you (almost) everything. No boy ever became a problem after Naveen. And like always, despite her new insecurities towards being involved in the "working" part of business, no one was to bring her down. For instance, Charlotte overheard an employee of yours discussing her lack of tack to a chef. She mumbled about it to you over dinner, asking if she was a burden to you. The next work day, the employee praised her progress more than twice in one shift.
One night, you both decided to have a sleepover in Charlotte's room. Trying on different dresses and watching movies had tired such pretty girls out. Laying in her bed, you brushed some blonde locks away from her gorgeous face. "You know Charles, these days, I feel like you're my only true friend."
Charlotte giggled and cuddled closer into your arms. "I'll always be silly. Even if the world crashed, we'll have each other to rely on. No one else!"
"You're absolutely right. No one else."
As she drifted off to sleep in your arms, you continued to brush her hair with a smile on your face. Running a restaurant was hard work, but gambling your luck on Charlotte was even harder. It was a relief she didn't reject Naveen due to affections for another guy. As long as you continued to open your arms out to her, you'll be fine, life would be bliss.

Royal AU
heavy sigh LISTEN, this brainrot has taken over me so hard that I physically cant even make anything shiny au related(dragon!Price one) so pLEASE, lemme show u what this au is all about:
an attempt at the emblem has been made, and honestly? im not gonna do any more of this bcuz god i suck at designs HAHAHSKDJHSAD
some lore if you're interested:
so Raven is adopted by Vik, who was the previous Royal Guard for Price's dad, and because Vik doesnt have any son, he makes Raven to grow up as one
The general story is like this, Vik was also part of a society, Cobra who wanted to throw the kingdom into chaos, and so they plot a plan to assassinate Prince!Price, because they think another prince is more fitting to be the next king, however this ended up in an unfortunate turn of event where Vik killed the king instead of Prince!Price, so Price had to ascend the throne pretty early on
In other words, Vik also had other intention when he specifically trains Raven to be the next royal guard, since he wants Raven to get close to Price for her to kill him -> and this fact is disguised as a fact that "oh hey Raven you need to be a guy to continue this "FaMiLY tRaDitIoN"
okay, dialing back a lil, let's talk about the relationship between Price and Raven for a sec, they're childhood friends as mentioned.
Basically, young Prince!Price who likes to sneak out and hang out with the royal guard's "son", Raven, in secret of course
they often like to hang out in one of the sealed off room in the palace, to which they managed to find a way to enter it of course, so lets call this the "childhood room"
expanding on the lore, when they both grow up they start hanging out lesser due to their respective roles and duties. Keep in mind, all these time Price thought Raven was a dude, until "event" happened of course
so what's this "event" you ask?
basically, around the time when Price was announced to be the next heir to the throne, he decided to take a break from his work and visit the childhood room, it has always been a safe haven for him. Just before he wants to leave though, an injured and soon to be Royal Guard Raven stumbles into the room(she cant go to the infirmary in risk of being exposed), with one hand around her abdomen area
Price decided to stay quiet and observe, he hasnt seen "him" in such a long time afterall, and thats when he saw Raven wearing a binder underneath all the armour as she wrapped a bandage around her abdomen, which reveals her gender after all this time
so technically, Price knows Raven's true identity since early on, but never commented on it, but it definitely does throw him off for...several reasons :]
anyways....idk how else to expand this but i do have a general idea, maybe something about Vik forcing Raven to kill Price in one of the events, but she retaliates instead, and as a result she tries to off herself since she has been lying to Price the entire time, insert angst and more angst, then idk timeskip to Price finding out Raven's real real identity ((because keep in mind, Raven's adopted, not blood related to Vik)) is a forgotten Princess or sum, and then they get married and live happily ever after((LET ME BE DELULU))
but yeeeeeeeeeee XDDD thats about it

I'm very love your stories about Kaiju no 8 and I have an idea that I wonder if you could do it. English isn't my first language so I hope you could forgive me if some words I write go wrong. Imagine Kagami go on a misson with Gen and Soshiro and she's got attack by a Honju and got in a serious injured that make her almost lost her life and fall into a comatose for a few months I think, and their react about that situation. I hope you have a wonderful day!
Thank you for loving my stories!!! Also, your English is fine hehe
To be honest, your idea is actually what I planned for the main story of my series. If you've read the manga, it will take place in the second wave arc, where more numbered kaijus got introduced from 11-15! I will give you a slight spoiler for what I had in mind!
Now I am actually planning on creating a kaiju no. 16 specifically made to combat Kagami! If you've read my post OC: Uzui Kagami, it's stated there that she's inspired by Uzui Tengen from Kimetsu no Yaiba thus she knows of Total Concentration Breathing and is immune to most poisons. So to combat her, the kaiju will be inspired by Gyuutaro that works with poisons and sickle (might change the weapon but it's essentially like this)
This is just a summary for my future work which will answer your question but it goes like this...
=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=
Kagami is a strong woman who became a platoon leader for her skills and mostly due to her hard work. Being surrounded by people who underestimate her and kept on calling her weak has impacted the way she thinks of herself, hence she doesn't believe she's strong nor had the talent as it took an even longer time for her to be promoted. Kagami can definitely survive a honju attack as she can neutralize kaijus no matter the size with her special weapon.
To be seriously injured, a tough opponent is needed which is kaiju no. 16 who can match evenly with her, maybe even stronger. It would be a battle of endurance between them as poison immunity doesn't mean it combats all poisons. (This is heavily inspired by Uzui vs Gyuutaro okay!)
Anyways, I won't say much as it would be a major spoiler but to give you an answer, her injuries are indeed severe. Her right lung has been punctured making it hard to breathe and use TCB so she had to rely on her suit. The small and big wounds on her body contains poison which is hard to combat making her almost die (like really die). Not even medicines are working because her body is also immune to it. Medicines and poisons are two sides of the same coin.
After declaring her critical condition, Soshiro tries incredibly hard to get to her despite his own injuries. Their locations are distant to each other so he would really need help even if he overuse his suit to get there. He begged, begged for her not to sleep and to wait for him to come. She's already saying her goodbyes as all she thinks about in her last moments was him. She's sorry for she can't wait for him and told him she loves him. Soshiro is definitely ooc for he openly begs and cries for her, breaking the hearts of those listening to their convo.
Gen is also one of them. He's already accepted the fact that he'll never have a place on her heart. Especially as she's never really mentioned him during her last words. As he's the one closest to her, he was the one that took her in his arms and hurried to the base where she would get treatment faster and better than the medic on field. By then, her pulse is almost non-existent and she's getting colder by the second. He also wanted to cry and beg for her not to die but he shut his feelings up.
For miraculous reasons, she's saved but in a coma. She doesn't hear any words they're saying as she's occupied by her dream. Soshiro doesn't want to leave her side even after they defeated kaiju no. 9. For the first few days, he'd cry and not leave her side. No amount of persuasion can get him to leave. Not from his captain, his comrades, his family nor hers. It was only Narumi Gen who got to get him away from there and get him back on track.
Ever since then, he'd visit her everyday after his work that he's practically lived there now. Most medical staff told him that it might be impossible for her to wake up but none of them listens nor believes it. Soshiro has faith that Kagami will wake up for him and their promise.
For the first few days, Gen also didn't want to leave her side but gave way to Soshiro who was more broken than him. He kept most of his feelings to himself despite being crushed as well. The only time he cried was when he confronted Soshiro that make him come to his senses. Amongst all the people, he's the most in denial as he speaks to her everyday like she's just sleeping. He'd actually be the most delusional aside from Soshiro with her coma.
As in all, Gen's more or less accepted everything. The question is...
Will Kagami lose her memories or not once she wakes up? HAHAHAHA
Memory loss is not an issue but Gen can definitely try!
I'll tag you once I've made the main story okay😁🤞

Could you info dump on Fenton pretty please :33 (I love him very much)
HI I LOVE YOU!
okay so lemme break this down so it’s easy for my to brain dump
BE WARNED THIS GOT LONG AS HELL RIP (yeaaaah it got loooong)
^^^anyways here’s the boy for those who don’t know (i lvoe him 💚)
-backstory
Fenton was born to two young adventurer loving elves, as such they were prone to leaving him under the care of their close family friend: Al the fisherman. So while his parents were away he’d help Al with his trades (Al is like if amazon caught fish on the side, he handles like all of the kingdom’s imports) or he’d be helping out in the castle, aiding Al’s friend(?) (maybe more? idk yet) the groundskeeper. As such he developed good connections with good people from a young age. Everyone loved the sweet little errand boy who would gopher around the castle. So when Fent’s parents didn’t return from an adventure one day, no one was surprised to find that Al had adopted the shy boy.
Fenton was young enough to not remember his parents much (i’m keeping him trauma free (for now)) growing to have the castle and sea as second homes. And eventually he came to be a confident teen, no longer the small kid hiding behind a mop of blond hair. So it was obvious that the boy was destined to be a knight; with the kingdom’s ruler Zelus taking a shine to the lad, and his intimate knowledge of the layout; him joining was inevitable. But he really didn’t want to be a knight, realising his dreams too late to follow them. So instead of becoming a tailor like he wished to, he found himself as a royal guard, watching over Zelus’ secret son as she raised him to be king.
Eventually he grew a strange fondness for the routine of the castle, indulging in tailoring as a fun past time. But his lack of love for the job slowly festered as the new king: Kay forced the kingdom into a vicious war. The kingdom was leaking resources, unable to maintain itself after Kay had viciously severed their connections to the other kingdoms. Fent found himself pulling away, his relationship with the king- the same teen he had practically grown up with- was strained to an irreparable degree.
So when he found himself wrapped up in a quest to save the king’s late brother, he knew he was in for a wild ride.
-connections and family
Okay so time for his friends and stuff i’ll list their name and a lil bit about his relationship with them yk
Al: Father figure and adopted parent. Fent sees Al as his dad, despite their lack of blood connection, and will often help the man with his work, when he himself wasn’t busy in the castle, and Al wasn’t away traveling.
Herbie: Friend and colleague. Herbie works as the king’s advisor and assistant (though kay really doesn’t listen to her much). The two bonded over their time in the castle, becoming friends after a while of working together. Eventually confiding in eachother their concerns of the war and supply shortages.
Kay: The king. When the pair were younger, Fent was close with the boy, however when Kay started throwing himself into the war, Fent realised that he had changed. This was not the boy he knew.
Dean: Ghostly companion. During the majority of the swords and spirits plot, dean acts as a companion, following Fent around due to being tied to the sword the knight possessed, they become friends, and after his resurrection get closer, but for now they’re just the knight and his silly ghost pal! :D
(these are the key plot relevant ones i think sooooo imma move on before i die of boredom listing every character ever lmao)
-role in story and personality
Fent acts as the protagonist throughout the story, and though he isn’t too bright; he’s good with his hands and can think on his feet. His experience as a knight helps him with the many trials they face throughout the events of the story.
The story focuses a lot on his dynamic with Dean and the secrets of Dean’s past, so a lot of it is just him being a silly guy and people liking him. He tends to think with his heart not his head and is incredibly loyal (part of the reason he hasn’t completely turned on Kay or left his position within the castle).
-other
He’s vegetarian! Fenton’s like religious due to being brought up giving offerings to the element goddess, Loch, with his dad Al in a bid for clear skies and a calm sea on his travels. As such he uses silly sea related stuff in place of swears. He also is vegetarian as a sign of respect to Vita, the goddess of life and girlfriend of Loch. Though he will still eat meat if necessary, but only in extreme circumstances (e.g life or death or something).
It’s also the reason for his bandana thingies! The god of luck and fate (unnamed rn) is very modest, as such it is not uncommon for those who pray or give offerings to the gods to wear modest clothes of cover their hair. Fent is a lil more of a casual follower of fate as such doesn’t stick to the modest clothing too much but most of the time he does. (it’s also common for people to wear bandannas, hair coverings or modest clothing for good luck as well!)
He’s a bit of a jack of all trades due to helping out around the castle, his parents, and Al. As such he has a range of survival skills and is very good with his hands. He knows how to talk to people and gives pretty solid advice (even if he sounds like an inspirational page you’d see on facebook or something. my dude is the kind of person to pull those “good morning rise and grind its winner wednesday yall” and “the same heat that hardens the bread, softens the potato” hes very live laugh love unironically you know.)
i can’t think of anything else but feel free to ask me anything else teehee i love talking about my guys ajsjsjsjsjfjdjsjsfjfj

Easier (The Crane Wives)
I learned to lie/I learned to grow/I learned to hold it for a while and then/Let it go/I learned to take/I learned to keep/Please tell me someday/I'll at least be able to sleep
"It's a double whammy because I started out applying it to a blorbo (Vash from Trigun) due to other lines in the song than the ones I submitted, namely the first two verses and choruses which I won't type out here but I highly recommend you look up the lyrics for. Then, I ended up applying it to myself due to the lyrics I submitted above. About a year and a few months ago I developed chronic vertigo due to a curve in my neck, or at least that's what I believe the cause to be. It's not always dizziness, most times it's just soreness from the pressure put on my neck and shoulder muscles, which has been made worse by my posture shifting due to only being able to sleep in one position. Recently things have been worse, and there were several nights where I couldn't just lay down and sleep, I had to wait for my medication to knock me out. Things have been a bit better, lately, but I still have to wait until I'm too tired to keep my eyes open before I even attempt trying to sleep or else I'll get a wave of dizziness. With those symptoms and the fact that I can't lay on my back or look straight up or sleep on any side but my stomach without becoming severely dizzy, I've been frequently looking back on my life and how I took such simple things for granted because I never thought I'd have trouble with them before I got old or something. It's likely that this condition is not unfixable, but we aren't sure just what WILL fix it yet. It'll take time, of course, if it is a posture issue like I believe it is, but I hold out hope that it won't be forever. Some nights it's just harder to hold onto that hope. So when I'm passing the time on a bad night by listening to my Trigun-themed playlist and Easier comes on, usually I have to skip it to avoid breaking down crying if I get to thinking too hard."

Stay alive/Maybe spit blood at the camera/Just stay alive
"It's a song about rock bottom. Sometimes life decides to completely and irreparably fuck you over and the hardest most painful thing you can do is stay alive. Do it anyway."

✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯ ✯✯ ✯ ✯ ✯
Somehow you always managed to be stuck back in this vicious cycle. Sometimes it would be because you were triggered and sometimes you didn't even know how you got back here. It was never ending cycle, one that you seemed to fall back too more often than you planned. You knew how you got this diagnosis, of course you did but it didn't mean you truly deserved this. In fact no one in your opinion deserves to feel this much torture. Yet you still felt the need to punish yourself for it. Another nasty cycle you seemed to find yourself in. And no one at the schools of good and evil had any clue about it. You were embarrassed by your displays of weakness in these moments, only making the negative feelings stronger and the cycles harder to break from.
With exams and trails upcoming you were fully aware that you'd be thrown into those fiery pits of your own personal hell. And unfortunately for you that was exactly what happened. You didn't notice the slip at first, throwing yourself into your work and revising caused you to skip meals or eat less in order to get more study time. But then you'd feel so hungry later in the night all you could do was snack on whatever food you had in your dorm. It was becoming unhealthy and you knew that yet try as you might you were powerless to stop it.
Then the nagging voice in your head causing you to hear words that had long since been said. It's really true what people stay words do stick. And for you it was always in these moments that it all came flooding back to you. How you needed to lose weight and how what you were doing was all a choice. You were choosing to be this disgusting. Those words would cause you to freak out and immediately expel whatever new calories you'd just taken in. Then the feelings of guilt and resentment over your actions would cause you to make your way to the bed side table and take out the little piece of metal that resides there. Rolling your sleeves up you'd press that piece of metal against your skin and drag it. Horizontally and vertically not caring how many you made, how much blood spilled on your ivory skin and finally you'd feel nothing. The pure bliss of nothing for a little while until the cycle begins all over again.
Your arms were littered in little white lines old and new. Some even bring bandaged due to the depth. Your long black sleeves hiding them from prying eyes. That's how you managed to get by unnoticed for so long. The stress you experienced had the deadly cycle occurring each and every night these days. One particular night, Lady Lesso was patrolling the halls after lights out when the sounds of wrenching flooded her ears, rather odd but she was unable to locate just where they were coming from.
You had finished what needed to be done and left the wash rooms at the end of the hall not spotting the ginger haired women at the start, you fiddled with your sleeves as you clocked eyes with the women. Panic flooded through you worrying that you had been caught by the one and only Dean of Evil. She approached you watching as you seemed to frozen on the spot, "Y/n? Are you quite alright little dove?" Concern briefly flashed over her features as you stuttered out a response to the question and fled the scene. "How odd little dove" was the last thing you heard lesso mumble at your departure.
Being seen only made the feelings of guilt that much stronger. To the point you had continued to harm throughout the next day. Aiming for any patch of clear skin you could discreetly reach. Your focus had been poor all day and that wasn't missed by the Dean. All through her lesson you seemed to be else where. There in body but not in mind. And she had this gut sinking feeling that today and last night were connected. So much so she intended to speak with you once the class had ended.
It was the sharp pain radiating from your arm as you attempted to flee the classroom that had your attention. You whimpered at the contact and tried to pull your arm back towards your body, only to be met with resistance. Your scared gaze flicked upwards to meet the stubborn gaze of Lesso. Somehow you knew you wouldn't be able to bluff your way through this.
Your thoughts were messy and unorganised to the point you didn't even remember moving from the class to her office. Yet here she was sat before you as you were perched on her desk. Gently she took your offending arm and began to roll the sleeve up. As soon as she caught sight of the bloody bandage you snapped your arm back to your chest and broke down. Sobs flowing from you as you struggled to catch your breath. Her eyes widened taking in the sight before her. She had no idea you were doing this. And she wasn't mad at all just concerned for you. The fact you were doing this to yourself, she's all for evil acts but you were the purest student she has and to see you suffer so much in silence truly hurt her heart. Unbeknownst to everyone at the school, the Never students were like Lesso's children and to see one in such a pain was devastating.
You had pulled yourself together impressively quickly, almost as if you were use to doing so. She tired to keep her tone light and gentle explaining she needed to check the cuts were not infected and would help you rewrap them. It took a little while but you trusted her and let her have your hand, she lead you to her conjoined bathroom and helped you sit upon the counter top. Her ministrations were gentle and she reassured with every whimper of pain you let free. She was as quick as possible while making sure she did it perfectly. Only when she was finished and your sleeve was rolled down did she mumble a statement, "little dove I know what you did last night, but why?"
The dreaded question. Tears sprang to your eyes as you answered honestly. After all she'd already see a your arms. You explained how it's a harsh never ending cycle and that your cuts were punishment for being so weak and feeling the guilt from what you were doing. You explained you punished yourself harshly yesterday for being caught in the act. Immediately Lesso caught on, there was more. She asked to see and you lifted your dress to sit just above your thighs, and instantly she could see the angry fresh red cuts that lay their haphazardly done, some still bleeding. She could see the shame and guilt written all over your face so set to work cleaning and bandaging the ones that required it. Then she helped you off the side and took you back to sit on her desk. "Little dove, you're beautiful now you are and next time you feel like this I want you to come to me. I may be evil dear but I'm not heartless. We will get you through this and I want you to know how truly special you are Y/n. Always remember that" she murmured into your ear as she wrapped you up in the most comforting embrace you had ever experienced. Maybe just maybe you could get through this with a little support.

HSMTMTS Maddox Autism Analysis
I had to use my laptop for this one, cause I'm not about to write all this shit on mobile. However, I shall not be adding gifs and pics to this one, cause i don't have those on my laptop, and i think there is a limit to those anyway. This one's long, and not guaranteed exhaustive cause my memory is Meh, at best.
Anyways, Onward!
General Info
So just from Promotional Material for Season 3
Maddox:
Techie Who always follows the rules.
The most excited person for Camp.
Hates Change
Comes to the same camp every year
From these, we already can see the building blocks of a targeted interest and a need for routines. The always following the rules is reminiscent of Autistics not breaking rules due to simply not thinking to.
Once the show itself aired, Maddox pretty quickly showed multiple indicators as well. For the sake of organization, I'm going to break these down as Tics and Tendencies and give a few examples, rather than by episode.
Irritation/Panic at unexpected changes in schedule
Saylor mentions frequently that Maddox is really struggling in Season 3 because for the first time, something is drastically disrupting this yearly escape. Unlike Ricky who, while panicking at the change, is able to actively work against it, Maddox struggles with fighting the change and usually must physically remove herself to prevent a more extreme reaction.
Maddox begins already thrown off due to Jet being sent with her to camp.
Dislikes when the Auditions is interrupted by Jet arriving an hour late.
She isn't hanging out with EJ this summer, likely due to feeling thrown off that he brought an entire troupe of friends.
Literally everything in Woman in the Woods - and going to her hiding spot to avoid a full meltdown.
RCOSL changes how she normally does the set direction in order to cause drama - again runs off after her and Jet's fight.
Really struggles with Madison's initial appearance at camp.
Realizes she signed to go to NZ before getting with Ash, and completely removes herself from the post-production celebration that LITERALLY every other character attended.
Very Literal Speaking
Several times when Maddox accidentally gets herself in trouble its because she says something that doubles as a pointed metaphor, even though she was being literal.
"...that kind of bond is....Forever"
"...you just got to commit to one side, of the boat....or else you'll fall in..."
"You have two minutes" - and actually timing it
"....and well, life has other plans..." - not realizing Ash could take this as an attack on her relationship.
"...Yeah my crystals haven't charged in like a month" - thinking Jet is literally taking about what she was actively doing.
Scripting
Maddox has multiple moments where she communicates using a clearly practiced script, and a few where she struggles once someone doesn't react how she expected and she did not have a response ready.
Shallow Lake Welcome Song
Introducing herself in the Honeycomb
The automatic little Thank yous when that one kid compliments her at a few points in the season.
The safety information on Newbie Night
The Woman in the Woods story is scripted - she gets interrupted and starts mixing up scripts when trying to get back on track.
Truly awful improvised scripting during RCOSL. Also not having the words to tell Carlos to lay off the whole 'hot for Jet' thing.
Memorizing all the lines she would need as a PA on the flight.
We literally see her scripting her confession to Ash.
Fumbling through talking to Ash about the NZ move, as she didn't think it was a conversation she was going to need to have.
Info Dumping
When Maddox gets excited, she frequently starts info dumping without thinking about it, usually while also kind of tuning out whats happening around her.
Several times in 3x03
Talking about her favorite nigh before she realizes no one is listening.
again when leading the group to the tents, when she is giving the rules and safety information.
Info dumps about rising signs before Ash gets upset and leaves.
general tips for color wars with Gina in 3x06
Snapping
Maddox tends to snap when deciding what to say to someone.
When she calls out Carlos for changing the cast list
We can hear a snap when she first asks Ashlyn if she was a Leo rising
She snaps when getting annoyed at Jet and Ricky when she directs them
She snaps after finishing her script for confessing to Ashlyn
Tapping/Clapping
Maddox claps and taps things when idling or when she is in between actions. Generally, if she's not got her hands in her pockets and isn't holding something, then she's doing this.
Maddox taps her hands together after Ashlyn catches her attention about the letter.
Clapping hands together as she talks when entering the honeycomb.
Taps on the set pieces when not using the drill.
Claps her hands with the paper star when Carlos suggests she likes Jet.
Taps on the bunk beds while talking to the girls after Camp Prom.
Taps on the broom while cleaning after Opening Night.
Claps her hands while talking to Ash in the hallway when walking to set.
Taps the tree stump that Ash hands her.
Shaking Things
Not as common as the tapping, but if Maddie is only using one hand she tends to shake the object she's holding.
The Letter to Big Red
The Markers after signing the wall.
The pamphlet on PA barking
Facial Expressions
Maddox's face tends to either be way more expressive than expected for the response she is giving, or way less. When she is alone, or with friends/Jet, her expressions are more free. she spends less time guessing and just lets her face to whatever its going to.
During RCOSL, her expression is almost unchanged, probably due to having to think about it constantly.
Once Newbie Night started going downhill, she paid more attention to seeming fine.
She is a lot more open in the fourth season, except with Quinn, where she remains professional.
Special Interests
More than pretty much everyone, Maddox has clearly defined interests
Camping
Set Design
Production
Possibly 80's style Camp Humor/Horror
Avoiding Adverse Stimuli
Okay so Maddox has exactly ONE coping mechanism, and its removing/Distancing herself from the situation.
Stands by the stage instead of joining the crowd on Welcome Day.
Does not return to the Bunks until very late.
Sits alone brooding when Jet takes off
Goes to hiding spot after scary story is interrupted
Stays by the wall for much of movie night
Building set/Managing costumes alone, instead of adjusting to help.
Operates more or less ALL of stage alone using a switchboard. Including in Season 4, when we know she has stagehands available.
Goes to hiding spot after argument with Jet.
Goes to probably commit balloon homicide before Jet stops her.
Hides from Ash to avoid NZ conversation.
Mentions that she doesn't actually attend Camp Prom all that often and normally goes to prank the boy's bunks.
Its okay, she'll probably get better about this with her now robust support system.
Anyway, there is definitely more, but this is what i can remember without immediately re watching the show again and going episode by episode.

Play Pretend
"Lee Ju-heeee~~!!!"
Oh my God! Lee Ju-hee slammed her pen on her notebook and got up from her seat to head toward the window where she would meet the root of her frustrations. She opened it and yelled in a loud voice. "WOULD YOU SHUT UP?!"
"Ju-hee!" Kang Tae-shik, her ex-boyfriend, exclaimed from below and waved his arms. "I'm so sorry!"
"I already told you! We. Are. Done!"
"It was a mistake! I promised you that I'll be better, right? I'm doing it now!"
She scoffed. "You promised that four times already and I never stopped regretting every second of those days where I didn't break up with you immediately!"
"Hear me out! I won't do it again—"
"You said that more than six times."
"—and I swear that—"
"No."
"—I will be a good boyfriend to you—"
"Begone, you trash!"
"JUST TAKE ME BACK!"
Ju-hee slammed her windows shut.
Kang Tae-shik was her boyfriend for two years. They had begun dating when they were about to graduate college. See, he was the personification of "bad news" and "malice" — so why did someone so sweet as Lee Ju-hee date him?
She was his tutor.
Tae-shik's grades were on the edge of the cliff from falling into abyss. So the teachers, who had been stressing whether they would pass him or not, decided to call Ju-hee and assigned her to tutor Tae-shik. Luckily, the young man was matured enough to listen even though he had spent most of the time annoying her.
Needless to say, she had the biggest relief when she saw him march on stage and receive his diploma from the frowning principal.
When the ceremony ended, Tae-shik approached her and asked her out. Driven by her happiness in finishing college, Ju-hee said yes. And that was how their romance began. But looking back at the memories. . . Was it truly a romance?
Tae-shik was worse than she thought. Her friends even asked her if she was in the right mind to go out with him. Ju-hee had to witness him pick up fights, cause a whole round of ruckus, and heck, he yelled at her once because he was drunk. She wanted to break it off with him, but then he promised that he would no longer do it again, she gave him a chance. . . And that chance became a bunch of powerless words.
She was told that she must break up with him, but due to Tae-shik reminding her of his awful past, Ju-hee was forced to stay for another three months. The last straw for her was when he picked up a fight at the bar with a bunch of men — Ju-hee slapped him hard in the face that was sure to leave a severe mark on his face and walked out.
. . . But things didn't just end there.
Tae-shik kept showing up and was begging for her to love him again. But Ju-hee was not going to allow herself be stupid again and ignored his pleas. Her options were useless and tried to threaten him, but Tae-shik clearly had no fear even in the law.
Jin-woo, her best friend, had told her that no police was going to stop him from breaking the purple-haired lunatic's face if he saw him again.
But as much as she liked the idea, Ju-hee was always opposed to violence. She preferred peace. She liked it better if Tae-shik could just disappear from her life. She knew that she was a strong woman and she could handle him without her friend's "help" — Lord knows what would happen if those two collided.
Anyways, Ju-hee may have broken up with him, it felt like she didn't because Tae-shik had no brain capacity to understand her words in that night. She was now a nurse for heaven's sake. Why couldn't Tae-shik have a job on his own?
"Ju-hee! Look! I bought you flowers!"
"Come on~ I know you still love me!"
"I won't stop until you get back together with me!"
"I belong to you, Ju-hee. And you belong to me!"
Every. Damn. Time.
Should she call Jin-woo and leave him to his task?
His annoying voice still followed her even when she was trying to walk peacefully in the streets. Not a single person had bat an eye. Ju-hee considered wearing her earphones, but she knew those were not enough to block the annoying and incessant implores of her ex.
Then, she felt him grab her wrist and spin her around to face him. Ju-hee was about to run away when his hands covered hers as he got down on both of his knees.
"Forgive me. . . I'll treat you better!" Tae-shik pleaded.
Ju-hee snarled. "Tae-shik, you got five seconds before I kick you in the face."
"Do whatever you want! But you will never get away from me easily!"
"Ew! How shameless of you to say such creepy things!" Ju-hee wrinkled her nose in disgust. She must get out of here. But where would she go next? Tae-shik would end up finding her in the end. What could make him go away for good?
Just give me a sign!
Then, Ju-hee suddenly found someone within the crowd. An idea formed in her mind. As audacious it seemed, she was left with no choice. The ginger-haired kicked Tae-shik in the stomach and escaped from his grip to rush toward the man her eyes had landed upon.
She wrapped her arms around his neck.
Fighting her adrenaline, Ju-hee managed to let out a beaming smile and faced the shocked expression of the stranger. "B— babe! What a surprise to see you here and I'm glad! Are you going somewhere?"
"I— uh. . . " The man just stared at her.
Ju-hee embraced him back and moved her mouth closer to his ear. "Play along, please."
After a few moments, she almost flinched when a pair of arms were snaked around her waist and pulled her close. They stayed like that for what felt like a long time. Meanwhile, Ju-hee wanted to have the ground swallow her so bad for running to a stranger and called him an endearment out of the blue.
She was desperate. She needed to survive.
The man soon removed his arms off her and whispered. "He's gone."
Ju-hee quickly retracted her arms from his neck and placed her heels down. She turned over and saw that Tae-shik was completely gone. It made her feel so relieved. She looked up to the kind stranger who had played along with her act. He looked rather young and tall, his chin only reached her forehead, and had black spikey hair; he wore a simple grey shirt under a green hoodie and a pair of worn-out jeans.
"Thank you," Ju-hee bowed and folded her hands to her front. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
The man cracked a smile. "It's okay. I'm glad I could help you, Miss."
"And. . . I'm so sorry too! I didn't mean to go up to you like that since I got no other choice!" Ju-hee exclaimed. "It was very bold of me, and— are you perhaps dating someone? If so, I am very sor—"
"Woah! Take it easy!" He stopped her. "I'm single. Completely single and hadn't dated anyone in my whole life, just so you know."
She sighed. "Thank goodness. Otherwise, this moment could've haunted me forever!"
"Nothing bad about trying to get away from a creep," he shrugged.
"I know," Ju-hee sighed. "I have the worst ex ever."
"THAT WAS YOUR EX?!" He suddenly burst out, then he winced at what he had done due to the side-eyes he had received from the people passing by. He cleared his throat. "So. . . Your ex? Wow. Not to be judgemental, but— were you in the right mind back then?"
Ju-hee glared at him. "It's a long story I'd rather dump in the garbage can."
"Alright then, well—" the man took something from his pocket and handed her his phone. "Here. Put your number in and just give me a call if that lunatic shows up again."
"Thank you!" Ju-hee smiled and began to enter her phone number into his contacts. It seemed that the odds were in her favor after all. Once she was done, she was about to return his phone when a new thought came into her. It made her bit her lip briefly. "Uh. . . Will it be okay for you to do me another favor?"
He nodded. "What is it?"
"Be my boyfriend."
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Ju-hee wondered if it was a good idea to pick a stranger to pose as her boyfriend. It was a surprise that Byung-gyu, the name of the stranger himself, agreed to her shameless offer. She only did that to keep her ex away from her since she thought messing with someone's girlfriend was a very sinful thing to do.
Or maybe she was watching too many dramas?
Nonetheless, what happened, happened.
Thankfully, she was living alone, otherwise she would have to worry about her family. What would they say if their only daughter had asked someone to be her fake boyfriend? What would they say if their only daughter had gotten into a relationship with a horrible person? No, they would react more to the latter.
"Lee Ju-hee!"
"Huh?!" Ju-hee snapped out and faced Jin-woo. "You were saying?"
"Geez." Jin-woo rolled his eyes and briefly glanced at the television where the show they were currently watching was left unnoticed. "You've been staring into the void for minutes and already missed the important part."
"Uh. . . It's a long story!"
"If it's long story, then it means you don't want to talk about," Jin-woo huffed and grabbed the bowl of popcorn from her hands, which she had eaten either. "I've known you since we were high school, Ju-hee. And I know every embarrassing moment you had. What's the difference this time?"
I picked a random stranger to be my fake boyfriend to get Tae-shik away from me. "I. . . " She swallowed . "I— uh. . . Can you promise that you won't laugh at me?"
Jin-woo nodded his head.
Ju-hee took a deep breath and squeezed her eyes shut as she spoke. "I stepped on a cat's tail."
" . . . Are you serious?"
"Yes."
Jin-woo stared at her as if she had gone insane before sharing his head and then tossed another popcorn to his mouth. "No comment." He glanced at her from the corner of his eye. "But are you sure you are telling the truth?"
Jin-woo had been friends with her since high school. They were best friends. Jin-woo could put up the most serious face she had ever known, but it was easy for him to crack up at something he deemed as hilarious — that included the embarrassing things Ju-hee had done and looking at him made her remember it all.
"I literally stepped on a cat's tail, Jin-woo! How can you think I'd still be okay?!" Ju-hee exclaimed.
What would he react if she revealed to him that she was in a fake relationship? Sure, she had her defenses, but Jin-woo would end up focusing on the subject.
"And here, I thought it'd be something interesting," said Jin-woo. He looked at her again. "You know,
"Look! The emperor just got murdered!" Ju-hee shoved his face back to the television. No, she was not ready for another joke of his that she should've asked her fake boyfriend for real.
Byung-gyu only agreed to help her. Nothing else. Ju-hee doubt he'd see her as his type either, so once Tae-shik stopped showing up in her sight, she'd break their faux relationship and her life would finally be at peace. That was the goal and she must stay in that route.
Later that night, she decided to message Byung-gyu and get to know him. Of course, she had to form a bond with this stranger, otherwise their fake relationship would be taken seriously as they did not know a single detail about each other.
Byung-gyu replied to her messages faster than she thought. Based on his texts, he seemed quite a funny guy and didn't ask anything about her past relationship, which she was glad about. Ju-hee never wished to go back to those times and just forget them instead — to have her first love being the worst was the experience she regretted deeply.
The following day went, Ju-hee found herself in the bookstore inside of the mall. She needed to find something to read after realizing all the books she had back home were finished a week ago, and since she got her salary, it was the perfect time to hunt for books.
"There you are! What a surprise?"
Ju-hee almost froze at the voice. Even in the library, he still managed to find her. She snarled without turning her head. "Leave me alone, Tae-shik."
"Why? Because you have a new boyfriend?" Tae-shik huffed. "Look, after thinking about that particular moment, I realized that it must've been an act." He smirked as he slowly leaned closer. "You really think I'm an idiot, do ya?"
Ju-hee inched away from him, but the tip of her sandals already met the bottom of the shelf. "I'm telling the truth."
"Oh, yeah? Then where is he? Aren't couples supposed to be together all the time?"
Ju-hee growled and quickly took her phone from her bag, about to dial a particular number, and as she was about to click the call button when—
"Leave Ju-hee alone."
"Pardon?" Tae-shik said.
Ju-hee finally turned around and saw Byung-gyu. She widened her eyes. She was just about to call him. . . But there he was, standing with a book in his hand.
Byung-gyu looked at her and tilted his head, letting out a broad smile. "Hey, sunflower."
"Sunflower, my ass!" Tae-shik scoffed. "You're that guy from yesterday, right?"
"Yep. I'm her boyfriend."
Ju-hee's jaw dropped. How can he pull it off so confidently?
Tae-shik was still skeptical. "Oh really? Then why haven't I seen you before?"
"Does it matter? Just because you follow her like a damn ghost doesn't mean you know everything." Byung-gyu told him. He walked past Tae-shik and moved to her side, putting his hand on her shoulder. "Ju-hee had talked to me a lot about you, I once suggested her to call the authorities too, but she didn't want to go too far. So, now that I'm here, feel free to go."
Ju-hee felt him tug her close, yet she ignored it and focused on Tae-shik. Her ex continued to stare at them with a cold gaze. At last, he walked away, not without flashing them one last look before leaving the place.
When Byung-gyu took his hand off her, Ju-hee released a huge sigh as though she was about to collapse. She turned to him and said. "Thank you, Byung-gyu."
"Hey, what fake boyfriends are for?" Byung-gyu shrugged and shoved his hands into his pockets. "How's my act?"
"You did pretty well," the ginger chuckled and then remembered something. "Sunflower?"
"Oh, that? I knew that he won't give up easily if I used your name, and since I first thought of a sunflower, I decided to call you that." Byung-gyu said. "Sounds nice, isn't it?"
"It is," smiled Ju-hee. "What are you doing here, if you don't mind me asking?"
"I was looking for history books about the revolutionary wars. The textbooks the school offered me are not enough and I can't just let my students grow up with incomplete knowledge."
"Wow!" She mused. "You seem passionate about history."
"Of course! History is interesting if you find the fun in it." Byung-gyu winked.
Ju-hee laughed.
Min Byung-gyu genuinely didn't know what was going on when a random young woman suddenly hugged him. But after reading the situation, it appeared that the woman was desperately trying to get away from her ex — he was still astounded what made her fall for that guy — so, being the kind person he was, helped her and accepted her favor afterward.
It was amusing how he, who had not once dated a single girl in his life because of how constant he kept being rejected, managed to put up a convincing act in that bookstore.
Fortunately, it was a success.
He remembered telling his friends about it the other night, and their reactions were quite unexpected.
"I thought you hate fake dating?"
"Don't tell me you're going to waste your 'boyfriend' skills!"
"Is she pretty though?"
"Why don't you try and take the shot?"
Eun-seok and Tae-gyu were pretty much supportive nonetheless. Yoon-ho and Jong-in on the other hand. . .
"Be careful, Byung-gyu. Fake relationship stays fake, alright? No funny feelings."
"Yoon-ho's right. Try not to fall for her when she only sees you as an escape."
"I know what I'm doing, guys. I'm just helping her and that's it." Byung-gyu waved his hand at them in dismissal. He got that they were just looking out for him amidst the teases, but he was twenty-five years now, he knew what he was doing.
Besides, he expected nothing from his agreement with Lee Ju-hee.
She was sweet, kind, and strong. Only a fool would hesitate to help her.
If they were walking together, he made sure to stay close, and sometimes, Ju-hee would allow him to hold her hand as a nice display of them being a couple. Who knew Tae-shik could just be hiding somewhere. But Byung-gyu didn't pay much attention to that thought, even if it was to keep Ju-hee safe, he liked to live in the moment where he had nothing to be aware about.
One time, Byung-gyu caught a certain purple-haired hiding somewhere near the cafe he and Ju-hee had met up to. His protective instincts would kick in and wrap an arm around her in an instant. Ju-hee would be taken aback, but she got the message and lean her head on his shoulder in return.
"Is he gone?" She asked after a few moments.
He lowered his head to glance from the corner of his eye and noticed Tae-shik still hadn't left his spot next to the lamppost. "Nope. Are you still comfortable?"
"I'd be more comfortable if he's gone," said Ju-hee.
"Are we're just gonna stay like this for a while?"
"Yep," Ju-hee nodded. "Keep yourself close to me."
"Like this?"
"Yeah. Can I put my head on your shoulder?"
"Sure thing." She leaned against his shoulder. Byung-gyu secretly glanced again. "Okay, Ju-hee, I think he's leaving."
"Really? Thank God."
"Ju-hee! What a—"
"We're dating!" Byung-gyu and Ju-hee exclaimed at the same time, caught by surprise of the voice, who belonged to none other than a young woman with short blonde hair.
"Hae-in?!" Ju-hee's eyes stretched wide.
Hae-in, who must be a friend of hers, blinked. "Uh, hi?" She glanced at Byung-gyu. "Oh! It seems I must be interrupting something. I'll go ahead."
"Wait!" Ju-hee reached out her hand to her friend, who began to walk away. "Hae-in!"
"It's okay, we'll talk later! Enjoy your date, Ju-hee!"
"It's not—!"
Byung-gyu moved forward and clasped his hand over her mouth to stop her from finishing her sentence. "Keep it down, will you? Even if Tae-shik is not here, we can never be too sure!" He half-whispered to her.
Once he felt Ju-hee recline into her seat, he removed his hand and fell into an awkward silence with her. Ju-hee's long hair surrounded her face, so it was difficult to discern what expression she had, but he could tell she was in a crisis.
"Uh. . . Ju-hee?"
"This is terrible!" She wailed. "My friend saw us, thought that we're together, and—" she gasped. "What if Hae-in tells Jin-woo?!"
"Are we not supposed to tell this whole thing to anyone?"
"If you know your friends, so no. If their reactions to my first relationship were beyond my expectations, then how worse can they be if they learned that I'm in a pretend relationship with someone?" Ju-hee scoffed. She grabbed her cup of coffee from the saucer and brought to her mouth. "What about you?"
Byung-gyu rubbed the back of his neck. "Well. . . My friends are fine with it."
"You—" Ju-hee spit out her drink. "You told your friends?!"
"I was nervous! I tend to be open to people if I'm nervous." said Byung-gyu.
"What are you nervous about?" Ju-hee asked inquisitively. "You've been doing great. I even forget that I had a crazy ex sometimes when I'm with you."
"I'm inexperienced to these things, remember? I got rejected repeatedly ever since I tried to ask my crush out in high school." Byung-gyu explained. "I even asked my friends for advice after I told them about our deal because I was afraid that I might mess up."
"You asked for advice? Wow!" Ju-hee mused. "I didn't know you'd take this seriously."
He huffed. "No girl deserves to be stalked so creepily, you know? Guys like your ex need to be thrown in a bottomless pit. You should've dated a better guy."
"Yeah, I should've," Ju-hee sighed and muttered. "Maybe if I wasn't stupid back then instead of keeping on tolerating him."
"Hey! Don't beat yourself too much." Byung-gyu nudged her arm lightly. "Just because you chose the wrong person didn't mean you're an idiot. You have a good heart, it's him who's stupid to treat it like an object. See it as a lesson next time. Choose someone who makes you feel safe and happy."
The ginger flashed him a smile.
Around Ju-hee, his protective instincts always kicked in. More or less, he was beginning to look out for her as a friend. Not as someone who had sought for him in that particular day. And sometimes, Byung-gyu felt like he was an actual boyfriend, using his pretend relationship with Ju-hee as a practice to see if he could actually treat someone the right way.
He wasn't lying when he told her that he asked his friends for advice. They told him to compliment her that she was pretty and be a complete gentlemen, which were good ideas, but some of their ideas were a little bit. . . Too far.
Kiss her in the cheek or anywhere in her face? Byung-gyu would rather be swallowed by the ground.
Buy matching shirts? Nope.
Flirty shamelessly in front of the ex? He could do that, but he didn't think he would still have a straight face afterward.
"You look like you're unemployed."
"Hyung, do you have any other clothes?"
"What kind of guy looks like that for his fake date with his fake girlfriend?"
"Okay, no hoodies." Byung-gyu removed his white jacket and tossed it to his bed. He grabbed a dark red checkered long-sleeve and placed it over his plain white shirt as he showed it to his friends. "How about this one?"
"Hmm. . . " Tae-gyu squinted his eyes. "Too—"
"You look good!" Eun-seok slammed his hand against Tae-gyu's mouth and held raised his thumb. "It matches your shirt too. You're good to go, hyung!"
Byung-gyu glanced at Jong-in.
Jong-in, whose taste in clothing was better than anyone else he knew and even himself, shrugged. "I guess Eun-seok's right."
"Yes!" Byung-gyu launched his fist in the air.
Yoon-ho snickered. "You look way too excited."
"No, I'm just happy. I've been facing my wardrobe for half an hour."
"Are you going to introduce your lady to us?" Tae-gyu piped up. "It's been a week since you started this whole 'act like boyfriend to protect a beautiful lady from her batshit ex'."
"I'll introduce her to you guys. Once we will no longer have to pretend." Byung-gyu answered.
"Sounds like you're just waiting for her to be your real girlfriend," Yoon-ho remarked.
He raised an eyebrow. "I thought you don't like her, hyung?"
"Since when did I say I don't like her?" Yoon-ho raised his eyebrow in return. "Yeah, I did say that you should be careful last time, but since you've been happy in a different way lately, I'm starting to think that you've found your match."
"Ha ha." Byung-gyu playfully rolled his eyes. Then he paused for a quick moment. He paid attention to his heart, feeling it flutter at the thought of Ju-hee as Yoon-ho's words echoed lightly in his mind. It had been quite a while since he had felt this way.
Found my match, huh?
He let out a smile.
"What is Byung-gyu hyung smiling about?" Eun-seok said.
Tae-gyu smiled sweetly at his friend. "He's smiling because he's late for his fake date."
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Byung-gyu should be here by now. Ju-hee checked her watch for the third time since she came to the cafe. Her fingers tapped on the table, it had been ten minutes already, and Byung-gyu was never the one to be late — or perhaps he must've caught up on things that were important. She sighed and reminded herself to be patient.
"About time I see you alone at last."
Ju-hee turned her head over her shoulder, almost flinching in surprise. "Tae— ack!"
Tae-shik kept a firm grasp on her arm. It felt difficult for her to free from his hand. Ju-hee tried to pull her arm away, but there was no use, and her ex's dark gaze stared at her. She was about to raise her foot when he grabbed her shoulder this time to force her to look at him.
"Do you think just because you are dating someone else, you're free from me?" Tae-shik glared. "Do you think you can be happy with someone else while you leave me in the shadows? Why—"
"Why do you think my life is your business?!" Ju-hee snapped. "Move on, Tae-shik! Why would I still be you, who brought nothing but headaches? You may have guilt-tripped me into staying with you, but not anymore."
"You know how I was raised, right? You know how much I suffered!"
She gritted her teeth. "Then go to therapy! You don't know how much I suffered as well because of you!"
When she was with him, Ju-hee cried. A lot. Even though he didn't hurt her physically, Tae-shik would mock her every time she tried to stop him. He hated it when she was in 'his way' and accused her for not staying by his side.
But things changed. She didn't want to cry. She wanted to hold her ground.
She continued to fight him. "You never treated me the right way, Tae-shik. Not even once. So what if this was how you were raised? Do you think I'm the only one who had to adjust? No! You never made me happy, or smile, or understand me." Unlike Byung-gyu.
"Oh, so you're comparing me to your new boyfriend now?"
"At least he's better than you." Ju-hee gritted her teeth. She felt happiest whenever she was with Byung-gyu, whether they were acting as a couple or not, she was at ease around him. Regardless of what he said about himself, she saw him as an amazing person, who stayed true to his heart.
Tae-shik was about to rebuke when something slammed his wrist away from her arm. Ju-hee realized it was Byung-gyu, who had a tight grip on Tae-shik's wrist and used his other hand to grab a fistful of his hair. She heard a slight crack that made Tae-shik wince.
"You never leave her alone, do you?" Byung-gyu said to him. "Don't blame her if she no longer wants to be with you. Learn to comprehend when somebody said no. Ju-hee doesn't need a rat like you."
"So you can show yourself how righteous you can be?" Tae-shik grunted.
He grinned. "I bet you must be forgetting who I am in her life. I like Ju-hee, she's sweet and caring and genuine. Only mindless people can mistreat her, and frankly, you're one of them."
Tae-shik growled. "Let go of me already!"
"If you make a promise that you won't ever show up again." Byung-gyu tugged his hair lower to let Tae-shik yelp this time. He looked around and saw people briefly glancing at the commotion. "You know how dumb you look right now, right? Just say the magic word and I'll let you go."
Tae-shik gritted his teeth, yet winced again. "Okay, okay, fine! I promise! I'll never go near her again!"
"Good. But if I see you approaching her again, it's me you're gonna deal with, okay?" Byung-gyu still had a grin on his face. It was either he wasn't the type to be mad or that was just how he preferred to deal with people rather than beating them up in the middle of the street.
Tae-shik nodded rapidly.
Byung-gyu let him go and watched him sprint away. Meanwhile, Ju-hee glanced at her left arm where Tae-shik had his grip on her, she was only wearing a simple top, so the greyish mark was visible. It didn't hurt at all, but her friends might notice it and ask her.
"Are you hurt, Ju-hee?"
She looked up and met Byung-gyu's gentle gaze as he crouched in front of her. Ju-hee's lips curved into a smile and threw her arms around his shoulders. It caught him taken aback, but he gradually returned the hug, rubbing the back of her shoulder with his hand.
"I'm sorry for not coming here already," he murmured.
"It's okay. What matters is that you came." Ju-hee told him. "Byung-gyu. . . I don't know how much I can thank you for helping me ever since we've met."
He chuckled. "You helped me too, you know? It might not be obvious, but you get it."
"Uh, Byung-gyu? Remember our deal, right?"
"Yeah."
Ju-hee took a deep breath and pulled away from him. "I. . . I don't want to end it. And I don't want to pretend anymore either. Byung-gyu, I like—"
"I like you too."
"Oh, that's— wait, what?" Her jaw slackened.
Byung-gyu smiled broadly. "I like you too, Ju-hee."
"But how did you—"
"Know what you're about to say? Well, let's just say I trust my intuition." He said. "Actually, I was gonna ask you out for real, but then I saw a lunatic instead."
Ju-hee chuckled. "Well, are you still gonna ask me?"
"Will your answer be a yes?"
"Hmm. . . " She leaned forward and pecked his cheek. "How's that?"
Byung-gyu chuckled. "Sounds good enough."
He got up and offered his hand to her. Ju-hee took it and stood up from the chair, intertwining her fingers with his. Finally, she was at peace now. She wouldn't have to worry about someone following her everywhere she went. She could breathe freely now.
And for Byung-gyu, well, he finally got someone to be with.
"So, where do you wanna go for our real date?" Byung-gyu asked her some time after crossing the street.
Ju-hee hummed. "A meal will be nice. I'm quite hungry after dealing with Tae-shik for the last time."
"Hyung-nim! Isn't that Ju-hee?"
The couple halted on their tracks. Ju-hee turned around and saw Jin-ho, who was with Jin-woo and Hae-in. Her jaw dropped. What the—
"Oh, they must be on their date. Let's leave them alone." Hae-in looked at Jin-woo. "He's the one I saw Ju-hee with, Jin-woo. Aren't they adorable?"
It was Byung-gyu's turn to be surprised. "Wait. . . Jin-woo?"
"Min Byung-gyu?!" Jin-woo gaped.
"You two know each other?!" Ju-hee stared at the two of them in shock.

Some advices for studying
Hello! In many countries, studies are underway, in some countries studies have not begun yet, in some countries there are vacations now. I want to share with you tips for a good study.
Let's go!
1. Sleep well. A good sleep affects your overall well-being during the day. There are several factors that affect sleep: nutrition, the presence of health problems, emotional experiences, noise on the street, etc. Sleep is affected by what you did before bed.
Before going to bed, you should: Eat a good (but not hearty) meal.
Take a little walk outside.
If you are nervous before an exam/test/control work then you should drink some tea. Tea with mint and (or) lemon balm is usually recommended. The main thing is to abuse this tea. Some herbs and teas have diuretic properties.
Before bed you SHOULDN'T:
Listen to a lot of loud music. Spend a lot of time on your phone. There may be problems not only with sleep, but also with health.
Take a lot of sleeping pills. This is fraught with very serious problems, up to including death.
Watch horror movies. This has a very strong effect on sleep and what will be dreamed. What you dream about affects your future sleep and the rest of the day.
Taking various sad events to heart. This is fraught not only with poor sleep, but also with further health and heart problems.
Chafe. It has a very negative effect on sleep.
2. Listen carefully to the teacher. Try to write down the learning material that the teacher says. This affects how you will pass control works, tests, and exams. In some countries, exam grades and certificate scores greatly affect admission to the chosen university / college.
Study things you SHOULDN'T be upset about:
Bad grades. This can always be fixed. I also had bad grades, but this did not prevent me from winning the stage of the competition and successfully passing the exams and entering the university.
If you're late. There are many reasons: road, traffic, business. I was running late for school mainly because of problems with my school bus. Once, due to weather conditions, the bus broke down, and I arrived in the second half of the lesson. But the teacher listened to me anyway, and as a result, I got a good grade. Conclusion : preparation is the main thing here.
Bullying at school. This is a very sensational topic. I also faced bullying, unfortunately. Mainly because of my interests and lifestyle. I'm a metalhead, I didn't have time for games and walks because the school bus was late and I only had time for homework.
If you missed classes, then you should contact your classmates and find out what topic (topics) was (were) in the lesson (or lessons), what homework is. If classmates don't respond on time, then don't be afraid to ask the teacher. In this case, don't be offended by your classmates, they may be busy.
3. Don't quarrel with the teacher. This affects the teacher's attitude towards the student and the student's performance in school.
4. Eat. Eat a lot but healthy food. It affects health and the body and mental faculties. Don't hesitate to ask the teacher for tea if you're cold. Buy a snack if possible.
5. Focus on your work. This will help you get the highest grade.
6. Don't be so shy if you have some health problems. Ask your teacher for help. If you feel sick in class, then go to the subject teacher. If it's at break, then go to the teacher on duty, if there are any.
7. Be happy! Studying at school is not difficult. There are more difficult things, like studying at university or working. School years are considered to be the happiest years in a person's life. Try to find contacts with other students even from other countries, there are various social networks for this.
I hope these tips will help you learn and grow well
