honestly another wild thing about C3 fans is that after YEARS of them screaming about how we just wanted C2 again they're like "there will NEVER be another character/party like this" and I want to be clear. I think Fjord Stone/Tusktooth/soon-to-be-Lavorre is a singularly brilliant character and is one of my favorites of all time. I also think Travis has achieved similar heights with both Cerrit Agrupnin and Nathaniel Trapp, and Chetney is, if not quite as strong, at least consistently a highlight of a campaign that has often frustrated me. I love the Mighty Nein and when I say I went into C3 hoping for a campaign that was as good - not the same thematically or literally, simply equivalent in quality - I mean it. If there is a Campaign 4, I believe, with time and reflection, there can be a return to the same stellar quality of Campaign 1 or 2. I think it really speaks to a certain level of bizarre melodrama and/or utter lack of faith in the CR cast as performers that goes well beyond any criticism I've ever had, to believe they cannot match let alone surpass these characters, particularly characters from a campaign that we all agree failed to thoroughly develop most of them to their fullest potential.

I'm like 99% sure that they all will make it back to the tournament, but feel free to submit/resubmit your favorite character(s) to guarantee that they get in AND to make sure your propaganda is heard. Patia Por'co Past and Future

Alright, so I have not been able to stop thinking about the wonderful and complicated Patia Por'co, Keeper of Scrolls for the Library of Incantatum. Obviously I will never be able to ask Mathew Mercer and Marisha Ray in person. So this will have to do.

I know there is a theory about Patia, possibly being her daughter, but I've seen others pick plotholes in this and I agree there are some I can't explain away.

Personally, I fully believe it was a mentor/student bond the two shared, but was there something more? Not romantically. More like a pseudo motherly figure for Patia, because we know she lost the memory of her parents. It was also basically confirmed they were taken by Imyr Por'co and not the mind wiping of the previous god of death and the Matrons name.

I ask this question from the pov of the Matron. Because if I worked my entire life to do this one thing that could change the very fabric of Exandria. Why would I tell my random student about it? So there has to be more that only Matthew or Marisha could say. Right?

In my opinion and Travis has talked about this a little bit in talks about Fjord. But if you are missing a person in your life like a mom or dad or teacher or friend, etc. We sort of go looking for replacements to fill in those gaps. We can even see this a little bit with Imogen and Deanna. Trying to replicate what Liliana and Imogen could of possibly had. So it isn't out of the ballpark for Patia to go looking for the same connections.

All that being said, what is their Relationship? Depending on the answer, it could make Patia's view of the gods even more tragic. She cared greatly for this motherly mentor figure and just like everyone else in her life up to that point, she leaves as well.

My second question is about her orb she sent to Maya. I think we've all heard the theory at this point. It's very popular for a reason amongst the fans. If you haven't heard it basically Patia had a hand to play in creating the Cobalt Soul.

I love this theory because it's so Meta. Marisha has crafted a connection (possibly unknowingly) to all of her characters. If you don't beleive me, Patia had a hand to play in destroying the tree. As well as finding out the secret meetimg between the Gau Drashari. A group who would later be known as the Ashari aka our favorite Voice of the Tempest, Keyleth. She was there at the kick start of the Calamity which leads to many battles one of which Pelor plants a tree for Ioun after being very wounded. To people setting there aka Whitestone. (This one is more of a stretch I know, but it ties really well to the raven queen and the distint connection both Patia and Laudna has to their respective Death deities.) Sorry for the rant.

Getting back to the actual topic and connection Patia has to Beau. So my theory is that She gave the orb to Maya, but like previously stated. This theory also has several plotholes and it kind of unrealistic. The calamity was this massive century spanning war killing 3/4ths the population and Eisfuura do not live long. So maybe instead of Maya building the Cobalt Soul. The Agrupnin family seek out protection through the Prime deities. Ioun would be the most fitting for the family just because of Cerrit's views and skill set about knowledge. (Finding it and Protecting it.)

I also theorize Maya would learn to view the memories of Patia, making her push for the end of corruption for future generations. It was out of hand and hurt alot of people. Including a factor in starting the war. Still like I said, it's a little unrealistic because they don't live long. In spite of that Cerrit could still train a group possibly including the kids with his to go find information about any threats. Betrayer gods, their armies, etc. In hopes of one day ending the war. The techniques, the orb, the information, and overall message to stop corruption could have slowly passed down in time until someone could fully begin the organization.

I would even be fine with the orb not being with them currently. We saw a mysterious village in the mountains with the Wildmount group in C3 during the teleportation mishap. It could be there. As long as the message was passed down and Maya and Patia had a hand to play in the beginning of our favorite Expositor's story. That's all I ask.

I know this was a long read. I rambled a lot. So if you made it this far. Thank you for reading my Ted talk. Also please forgive any spelling/grammical errors. I would love to hear your opinions, because I've had this thought in my brain for as long as the calamity has been around.

P.S. any and all theories could/will very much likely be disproven by Matt and future CR. In fact I expect it too and will be ecstatic when we do find the canon explanations. Also sorry if this doesn't make any sense. This is my first time interacting on Tumblr.

First off, THANK YOU!! Thank you so much for writing for me, and I am beyond excited to see what you'll create! Thank you for your time, your words, and your creativity! I eagerly look forward to reading your gift, and I hope you know I am just delighted and utterly charmed by this whole exchange.

Regarding my likes, I love Happy Endings and Not Angsty Endings, basically, I need a kernel of hope in there at the end and not a complete tragedy. Bitter and sweet combined, y'know? I really do need that kernel of hope and to just not be completely devastated, basically, not a distressing ending, please. Additionally, I love complex characterization, not one-note, and I love feeling characters as human. Given the nature of my prompts, I'm absolutely down for some psychoanalysis, like, digging into a psychological perspective of what's happening inside a character. You absolutely do not have to do a full psychoanalytic write up, but if you're interested in that, I'm SO down! Additionally, I love fairy tales and mythological allusions, so if you go the AU route with that, I would be very down for that! Same thing for Shakespeare, I'm a huge Shakespeare nerd, and any allusions or inspirations for that would be more than welcome! Again, given the nature of my prompts, the five/seven stages of grief as an exploration or theme could be interesting to pursue, but don't forget about that kernel of hope in acceptance! I do love smut, and I write it myself, but I think for the specific prompts I've given, I'm more neutral on it? If you find a smut take within my prompts, absolutely feel free to go for it! I'm not against dead dove themes, but again, not a fan of distressing endings. Finally, if a general overarching theme I just love is hope.

For me absolutely Do Not Wants, I think they're self-explanatory, and include scat, watersports, suicide, self harm, unprompted crossovers, character bashing, addiction/substance use, homophobia/transphobia.

Prompt 1 by Softlight Fandom: The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (TV 2022) Galadriel | Artanis (The Rings of Power) My gift must feature all of my chosen character tags (if 0: any from tag set) I would love to hear an emotional analysis of Galadriel of any kind, but I especially love it in relation to grief as a motivator for her actions. I really see grief as a key motivator for Galadriel, so any takes that include this perspective would interest me! I'm good with AUs, I personally love the ship Halbrand/Sauron x Galadriel but I absolutely do not expect it, and I do prefer happier-endings (see above!). I can take bittersweet, but outright tragic does tug at my heartstrings, so if you do go that route, please just tag it for me so I can consume safely! Some potential prompts could be Galadriel and Halbrand in an AU, Galadriel making a friend (Míriel, Nori, Elrond) and potentially talking about Finrod and/or just having a nice time, more about Galadriel and Finrod (AU or canon), etc. If you want to go a darker route over the fluffy/hopeful, perhaps a Hamlet AU with Galadriel as Hamlet and Finrod as the Ghost could be interesting, and for that prompt specifically I would not expect a happy ending if it doesn't work out!

Request 2 by Softlight Fandom: Exandria Unlimited: Calamity (Webseries) Patia Por'co (Exandria Unlimited: Calamity) Cerrit Agrupnin (Exandria Unlimited: Calamity) My gift must feature one or more of my chosen character tags (giver's choice) I would love an exploration of Patia's relation to the Raven Queen and/or her grandfather in relation to how she views herself and/or her loneliness. I just think she's a fascinating character, and any canon event that allows for an opportunity to analyze her would be lovely. Really, a character study of any kind of lovely! Honestly, for Patia and the Raven Queen, I'm down for almost any interpretation, especially because it was so open-ended in-series, but I'd prefer the relationship be more positive/neutral than negative, i.e. guiding her education over as abusive as her grandfather, and then perhaps dealing with that as an abandonment when she ascended... just some food for thought! OR I would love to read about Cerrit's reunion with his kids and his wife. Preferably hopeful/happier-toned, but I do understand that this is the Calamity. However, I will say that I am a fan of the idea that Maya founds the Cobalt Soul or in some way contributed the knowledge Patia gave her to Exandria as it is today, something something about the way history echoes forward. You can absolutely focus more on the future for the kids if that sparks joy for you! I'm pretty flexible with them as well, and honestly would love your take on what happened after.

Request 3 by Softlight Fandom: The Legend of Vox Machina (Cartoon) Keyleth (The Legend of Vox Machina) Delilah Briarwood (The Legend of Vox Machina) My gift must feature one or more of my chosen character tags (giver's choice) I would love a character study of Keyletih OR of Delilah! I love the themes of love and devotion and how that interacts with both of their stories. For Keyleth specifically, and given this is the show-specific, not stream-specific, I would love an exploration of her fear from Osysa's fear room or any internal thoughts/analysis during show moments, i.e. with Kashaw, with Vax, with Vex. With Kashaw, I'd love to see that either in parallel with Vax or in how she views herself and her self-confidence, tracking that theme from the first season. For Vax, I'm down for Vax x Keyleth, absolutely! And if you want some allusion to current campaign, I'm down. For Vex, honestly pop off, have a blast, they can start off antagonistic but ideally end more friendly, if not more. ;) For Delilah, an exploration of this utmost devotion to her husband and what that means for her. You can get a little darker with this prompt over the Kiki one, but I would love to explore the dissonance that she's evil and cruel and she's loving. The exploration of love and evil and how one does not preclude the other, etc. Delilah as evil, yes, but also, how'd she get there? Perhaps, why does she love Sylas so much? Additionally, maybe about how she feels about Sylas's change from mortal to vampire or even some How They Got There theorizing.

Anything else? patia is not from any of the “proper” campaigns of critical role (aka 1, 2, or 3 - vox machina, mighty nein, bells hells). she comes from a mini campaign, exandira unlimited: calamity. it’s a 4 episode mini campaign that takes place about a thousand years before vox machina and present day exandria, during the age of arcanum.  the story of exu calamity and patia takes place in avalir, a flying city. as the keeper of scrolls, patia is part of the upper echelon of the city; not to mention that it was her grandfather that founded the city and gave it its flight. while her linage gives her importance, she is not part of the ring of gold, or even silver. her and her friends have created the ring of brass. they’re the “boots on the ground” and are given little respect from the other rings.  the ring of brass consists of: her, a wizard laerryn coramar-seelie, a wizard loquatius seelie, a warlock/bard cerrit agrupnin, a rogue zerxus ilerez, a paladin and nydas okiro, a sorcerer/bard

spoilers for episodes 3 & 4 of exu calamity below click the exu calamity link above for more info, but basically, within the arcane engine of the city, there's the arboreal calix, a magic tree that binds a contract between the wizards of avalir and the druids of cathmoíra. with a war on the city already started by the lord of the hells, patia casts legend lore on the tree. touching the tree, it starts to grow around her arm.  when laerryn casts blight on the tree and it begins to split open, a gateway is created and asmodeus - the lord of the hells - comes through. his mere presence sends a concussive force (followed by fire) through the room, tearing patia’s arm (still in the tree) from her body as well as killing her. nearly everyone else dies as well, except zerxus and laerryn. he revives loquatius and nydas, and quay revives patia.  a fight breaks out with vespin chloras (asmodeus’ right hand) and while cerrit gets the killing blow on him, zerxus and nydas die. as the city continues to descend and while the men were dealing the vespin, patia stands by laerryn as she reworks the astral leywright to eliminate two primordials from the playing field, sending them to another plane.  given some magical ether from the tree (equivalent to a 9th level spell), patia uses it to power the leywright as her final sacrifice.  as the calamity comes, half of the ring of brass are left alive: laerryn, loquatius, and cerrit. the first two accept their fate as the city and labyrinth around them crumble. cerrit flies out with directions given to him from laerryn and he makes it out alive as avalir, cathmoíra, and the surrounding landscapes are broken apart by gods, betrayers, and mortals alike. “the brass ring endures“

Cerrit “Pinch” Agrupnin: the true winner of any CR Wizard Battle

Genuinely, I just cannot comprehend anyone saying that Laerryn vs Essek in a duel would be an even fight.

Laerryn is a con wizard with the Tough feat, mechanically, just to START. She will kill a sitting politician at a moment's notice without worry. She's maybe the most overfunded wizard in history. Essek is a dex wizard who almost got taken out by a pair of magic sleep handcuffs. He defaults to utility caster. And, while both of them will become unhinged if the person they love is threatened in anyway, Laerryn will straight up take down the world in the process and Essek is just as likely to physically drag Caleb out of the fight instead of retaliating.

I'm sorry, but there is literally no contest here. Essek would be a very pretty stain on the ground in seconds. God forbid women do anything.

The fact that Lacrytia and the mage cultists had to cast Detect Thoughts on Cerrit to figure out where he put Vespin's shit is so wild because

It's on his desk. You do not need the deductive skills of a Sightwarden to figure this one out.

Do they not have someone in the Eyes who could've told them: "Well, it's not in evidence lockup because I checked just now. Orwyn was on the case the past two weeks, and he met with Sightwarden Agrupnin before the records vanished. So, it's gotta be in either of their offices." They have moles and agents in like every other organization, but nobody to give them a shortlist of who is on the case and what the very obvious places these items might be located are?

Like, is Lacrytia et al.'s insistence on wizards only SO strong that they don't have any spies inside the Eyes, a critical organization, just because the Eyes has a No Wizards Allowed Past This Point sign on their front lawn? Did they just not want to work with non-spellcasters so much that they didn't want to convert any of the Eyes even for convenience lmfao? Did the Eyes make life very slightly harder for Lacrytia et al. because they disdain wizards equally as much as these people disdain non-wizards?

I don't like the headcanon that Maya Agrupnin founds the Cobalt Soul; I don't think it really makes any sense and it isn't remotely interesting.

I’m planning/outlining a potential “Exploring the Ruins of Avalir” campaign, and hoo boy are there some interesting factions to work with.  Like, in no particular order, you’ve got:

- The Cobalt Soul, who would almost certainly be interested in the ruins’ historical significance and possibly keeping more dangerous artifacts out of the hands of those who would misuse them (especially if you go with the "Maya Agrupnin was a founding member of the Cobalt Soul" theory)

- The League of Miracles, a new mages’ guild from Tal’Dorei Reborn who are amassing power at an alarming pace (including doing magical workings that should take years in hours) and whose leaders create constructs that are too similar to Tempus to be a coincidence

- The Wanderman Assembly, one of two factions native to the Shattered Teeth, a group of ruthless capitalists trying very hard to act like they’re a honorable brotherhood and not really succeeding

- The Ossended Host, the other faction native to the Teeth, an isolationist group of fishermen who worship dreams and nightmares (according to the previous edition of the Tal’Dorei sourcebook, the Host and the Wandermen are on the edge of conflict, the source of which may have something to do with the source of the dreams the Host have been having)

- The Cerberus Assembly, including whatever cult the current Archmage of Antiquity has fallen into (seriously, we’re 2 for 2 on Archmages of Antiquity and cults)

- The Arcana Panspohical, who have a marked interest in keeping knowledge of the magics of the Age of Arcanum away from the general public

- Any number of mages or cults could also potentially be interested in the ruins

- Heck, you could even argue the Ashari... even if they’re not aware of their historical connection to it (and after all this time, why would they be), I bet there’s some weird planar shit going on over there
