We brought up using AAC to our therapist, and seeking accommodations to be allowed to use it during class as needed
She's not against it, but is prioritizing finding and working on the cause of the speech loss episodes, which...
We think she thinks it's an anxiety thing (which is reasonable), but it's not quite it for us, not entirely, at least
We do have/had selective mutism/vocal shut-downs due to anxiety, but it hasn't really happened since being medicated for the chronic anxiety over a year ago - during these, it feels like we get choked up, words unable to escape us, too frightened to speak
The speech loss episodes we've been having "recently" aren't induced by anxiety, we feel calm yet unable to speak, not choked up, but as if our voice box just... stops working. Unlike the anxiety induced ones, we can't make sounds. Sometimes we're fully mentally present, other times we feel like our thoughts are all scrambled - disconnected but not dissociative
When we struggle to speak because of dissociation, it feels like our voice is floaty, wispy - there but hard to control, drifting in and out

If you get a dog, you should crate train it.
If you don't want to crate train your puppy bc it 'makes them sad', you are missing an opportunity to raise them up without anxiety.
if you have a dog, you should find out and know what it actively does when you're not there- not just when you leave, but when you're not there. 20. 30. 60 minutes after.
Why?
Because separation anxiety feels horrible for dogs, and sounds horrible to your neighbors. If your dog has separation anxiety, it is your responsibility as your caretaker to do everything you can to ameliorate this condition.

there was this trend in 2010s musicals (especially those popular with/aimed at teens) to have a character be haunted by the ghost of another deceased character, wherein that ghost walks around and talks and interacts with the protagonist as if they were a normal person but they are (relatively) explicitly Not Real within the larger diegesis and cannot be perceived by other characters or interact directly with the world themselves. think connor in dear evan hansen, heather chandler in (the latter two thirds of) heathers, gabe in next to normal. (by a stretch of the imagination i think you could consider the squip in be more chill as fulfilling a similar role).
anyway not to 2017 broadway fandomize a 200 year old opera, but that with the don and leporello. like obviously an abuser like the don would have a lasting impact on an abuse victim like leporello psychologically and socially for a long time (perhaps ever). but now i'm imagining the don literally following leporello around for years, possibly for the rest of his life, haunting him. both fully aware the don's dead and not real and can't control anything anymore of course but still present in leporello's life and mind, walking about and talking but audible and visible to no one else, inseparable and inescapable
