the substance is just body horror barbie (2023). it's fun it's visually nice but on god such entry level reflections, it shows everything so literally and says nothing interesting, it's killing me how once again people are acting like it's groundbreaking shit.

-originally the lucas clinic was 'astral bodies spa'. astral bodies does seem more fitting as a name for a celebrity meat shop but inch resting the name of the clinic was changed. & the switch from spa to clinic really leans into the medical aspect

-more lines from michael felix fangirl originally! very funny in an awkward way how she guessed which celebrity edward was there for wrong lmao but it does make sense to change that & have her just be like yeah you're a geist girlie. her lines got trimmed down a lot from "i'm here for michael felix. you think that's perverse. infamy is so much more potent than fame. it's louder than fame. it's hard not to be affected" before going into her bit about the foreskin spices. ok miss tcc! i think kind of recontextualizes michael felix from (what i had thought of as) a celebrity who had done something horrific & criminal while still maintaining relevance/increasing relevance from it to someone who was famous exclusively BECAUSE he was a criminal. much to think about. also michael felix fangirl gives the strongest performance in this by a lot.

-edward is 100% the main character here which is interesting considering how that shifted in antiviral, in a way that totally makes sense. a client's perspective can totally carry a short film that's more about establishing the concept & the world & a feature totally needs the insider perspective & corporate crime aspect & etc. the techs are really SO nothing that it's funny who with how syd became The guy meanwhile they're literally just some guys with one dude giving the sales pitch & then a different dude giving the injection.

-speaking of the injection it's SO much less sexually charged & homoerotic. thank god for the addition of the drawn out explanation & gay ass lean in & whispering. & the addition of 'you should be showing in a couple of weeks'. like here those ideas are definitely There but in antiviral they really drive that shit home

-all of the people names are unchanged except for whatever reason lisa law became laura law

-edward kissing the photo of hannah where she also has the cold sores on her face in his bathroom after his flare up is great lmao
