Very conflicted rn. Iâm glad that people are outraged at Elonâs Nazi salute and are acknowledging the Jewish voices calling this out as antisemitism. Iâm glad yâall are concerned about people in power very obviously paralleling 1930s Germany.
At the same time, Iâm fucking furious with all of you. For a while now, but especially the last year, Jewish people have been calling out for you to acknowledge this, to see the signs, to get upset. Antisemitism has gone through the roof. Jewish schools are getting shot at and fire bombed. Jewish business are getting graffitied. Newspapers are sharing antisemitic rhetoric blaming us for all kinds of shit. Politicians have been saying all of this exact stuff, but since there wasnât a salute to go along with it nobody cared. Hereâs the scariest part though: people are accepting this as normal.
Accepting, ignoring, and normalizing this shit is what led to the Holocaust in the first place. People talk about it as if it happened suddenly, but it didnât. It took years to subtly ramp up the antisemitism. We asked you to care back then too, but we werenât taken seriously. Look what happened then.
So yeah, itâs nice to see that you all care about what Elon did, but it sucks that you only listen when it suits your narrative. Let this be your wake up call. Open your eyes, get loud, get angry, and listen to your Jewish neighbors when we say that the world is going in a dangerous direction. Antisemitism is real, itâs everywhere, and it sure as hell isnât new.

The audacity to be like "there's a problem with racism in transandrophobia discussions" while also unironically using the term "transandrophobia truther(s)"
#Jean mumbles#Of course there will almost always be racism in discussions of oppression#But like...bro are you really going to say this and then side with the exact same people#Who have constantly erased and silenced the voices of trans men of color and other marginalized trans men#Calling them shit like white-aligned or overall gatekeeping their blackness#Are you seriously not seeing how that call is coming from inside the house#And again - truther is something that has very heavy ties to antisemitism#So again. Are you really the hero because of this?#Are you actually helping people here?#Now I'm white so obviously take what I say here with as many grains of salt as you feel is best#But all I'm saying is that racism is fucking everywhere and there is not a single group in this discussion who is guilt free#And right now you're participating in the violent act of erasing and silencing the voices of non-white and non-gentile trans men and mascs#I wish the best to anyone who has fallen for this pandering bullshit#And a huge apology to all the trans m&ms this bullshit hurts#Transandrophobia#(Gatekeeping blackness but also just non-white raced and ethnicities in general)

Nazis are a threat to everyone. We know this, we understand this. HOWEVER. Goyim, non-Jewish people, I'm asking you to think before you speak on Elon's actions.
Yes, the people trying to insist it was just a "Roman salute" and meant nothing are infuriating, but I have seen responses to it that do nothing more than encourage neo-Nazis and their sympathizers. I've seen "comebacks" where people say "Go do a "Roman salute" in a crowd", "go do it in front of a Jewish person". I just saw a video of someone saying, "Better yet, find yourself a synagogue, and go do the "Roman salute", and see how that goes... bet you won't."
You are putting Jewish people in danger. You, leftist who thinks you're being so smart and witty with your comeback, are encouraging neo-nazis to threaten Jewish people. "Better yet"? Go find a synagogue? Go find a synagogue, go there to do the Nazi salute, and that's the better option you're suggesting to them? What you're doing is telling a Nazi that they need to actively harm Jewish people to prove their beliefs to you, and I can tell you that encouragement is embraced by them.
Jewish people are already going to be one of the main targets of any Nazi or white supremacist group, but half of you are actively offering us up for your "gotcha" moment. Y'all don't think before you speak, and you need to examine why you would ever think to give specific ideas on how to harm Jewish people to neo-Nazis who have just been emboldened to a level we haven't seen in decades.
#nazis#antisemitism#i'm TIRED#y'all know there are nazis in your area right. is it just jewish people who know this? is that it?#do y'all think nazis just hide away in some alcove to jump out and commit hate crimes and then disappear again#there are nazis in your community. i am saying this to your face because it's true.#you know how i know? because there are nazis in my community.#we plastered his face everywhere. his wife took down her 'pregnancy crisis center' webpage that had more dogwhistles than an animal shelter#and he's still fuckin here. he brought more nazis into my community for a festival. they lit a swastika to celebrate at the end#his wife makes handmade hitler christmas ornaments. to gift to her friends#and half of you are so fuckin removed from threats in your community that your first thought when they go mask off and arm band on#is to encourage them! to give them suggestions for their next hate crime!#because half of y'all think about jewish people in the same base way they do#as some mysterious 'other' who isn't a part of your group but isn't a part of theirs and who won't affect you if we get hurt#so we're the ones you offer up.#notice how no one is saying 'go do that in front of a pride center'#no! because you know what nazis think and who they hate but we (jewish people) are the only acceptable targets to you#i've been out since 12 but not once have i seen other leftists offer us (queer people) up the same way they offer us (jewish people) up#and that's why we don't trust y'all. that's why y'all tend to know so few of us#because you're not safe at best and actively antisemitic at worst. and we leave when y'all reveal that#i have met very few allies in my life who've fully respect myself and my culture and my language and my religion and my ethnicity#there are allies who respect some parts but it's so incredibly rare to meet someone who respects all of it#but y'all can't bring yourself to do it and half of you are antisemitic anyway#the only time y'all ever examine yourselves or even talk about antisemitism without claiming jewish people make it up is when they kill us#or. i guess in this case it'll be when y'all get us killed

i really don't want to start having to block/filter jewish tags and content on here because i love being jewish and engaging in judaism but the weight of all the heinous antisemitism i have to see every day whether i seek it out or not on here (whether under the guise of discourse about i/p or not) is really starting to take its toll. i want to come to this website to share jokes and opera gifs and pictures of weird animals and quotes from the talmud and post my stream of conscious or whatever else strikes my fancy in the moment, but not constantly be exposed to the thousands of people online and off who want me dead for merely existing (and existing unashamedly), and who have zero reservations about saying so.
#i wanna talk about me#i'm not going anywhere. not yet. don't worry#but i might start blocking/filtering some more content or blogs.#which sucks because i don't want to just drop any and every blog that crosses the line of good vibes or whatever#bc that would mran no more positive posts about judaism. or no more opera gifs or bird pictures or whatever#because it's everywhere. it's literally everywhere. antisemitism is inescapable on here and it's a problem#antisemitism

im out of the "information/ fact checking" game, but im begging yall to look into not just the sources of the articles you like and reblog, but the people who wrote them too.
#rem rambles#this just in. libertarians dont have the capacity for nuance. sorry.#thats a conservative that doesnt want to be ''called'' a conservative. they are just as trash as the rest of them.#there is room for a conversation about how many people are pro-hamas. and how you should really not equate hamas to palestine#there is ALSO room for a conversation about how ungodly demonic the idf is and how that barbarism is pushing people behind hamas#there is ALSO room for the realization that making everywhere EXCEPT israel unsafe for jewish people is EXACTLY what israel wants to do.#so the insanity of the idf makes sense. to stoke the flames. to make it worse. to actively sow dissent and hatred towards jewish people.#and placing that blame on people who are reacting to watching one country starve another and are grasping at anyone to root for- yeah i#can get why people are just blindly like 'houthi's r good!' because no one else is standing up to israel like them. you dont wait for#the perfect team to root for. would it be best if hamas stopped? and then what? exactly.#i can sit here and say ''i support palestine but i do not like hamas' tactics in more recent history. i also am not the biggest fan of#the houthis or hezbollah. i understand why they do what they do and their reasoning for it- but golly their politics are not good.''#and in the time it took me to say that one sentence israel has leveled another city block and had another tantrum about children being fed.#''and rep. ilhan omar's child was arrested-'' was that fun fact just there for giggles or was it there to pretend like antisemetism is#already so violently rooted in democrats in congress and the ONLY resolution to your jewish siblings is to REMOVE them.#and if you DONT root out these antisemites from the left (ignore the ones on the right tho) then YOURE bad and wrong. you dont wanna#be bad AND wrong :(((

to be clear, people have absolutely not forgotten context is a thingâin fact, they remembered it exists so hard they ended up using it wrong. (see the entire shitshow that was the ivy league congressional hearings, during which former president magill of upenn refused to say that calling for the genocide of jewish students was against the universityâs code of conduct because, to her, it was a âcontext-dependent decision.â)
the very basis of pro-hamas and october 7th defending rhetoricâpoorly âdisguisedâ as advocating for palestinian rightsâis that âthe october 7th attacks didnât happen in a vacuum.â
it all depends on the context, they insist, because pointing out the past struggles of palestinians somehow reframes barbaric, animalistic acts of terrorism âfreedom fighting.â it all depends on the context, because a jew (read: most jews) being a zionist is apparently enough âcontextâ to chant for their death.
so, in short, context is absolutely essential, but itâs being used wrong. itâs constantly weaponized to excuse antisemitism when in reality itâs the true context that theyâre ignoring.
(disclaimer: iâm going to be discussing the american laws and constitution specifically.)
i also believe that disagreeing with someoneâs political opinion is never an excuse to âtake away their rights.â meaning, a person should be able to believe & say whatever they want without being legally prosecuted, convicted of a crime, and yes, without being verbally abused. that includes hate speech; the entire point of permitting free speech is that while we are granted the right to express ourselves however we want, the assumption and expectation is that we will do so without causing others emotional distress and without making them fear for their safety.
same goes for free will. in judaism, we donât believe that god is responsible for/in control of the actions taken by the people he created, for the simple reason that he created them with the ability to choose. the holocaust was not divine punishment, it was a crime committed by humans. in giving us free will, god made it clear that he believed in us to make the right choices. whether that belief was justified is a different matter.
so yes, hate speech is legally protected in america, but is has to be. outlawing hate speech also outlaws every other type of speech, including all forms of self-expression, except the type the lawmakers decide is allowed. so yes, hate speech is legalâbut just because something is legal doesnât make it right. hate speech absolutely must be legal. the issue that needs to be addressed is not the laws allowing people to speak this way. itâs the fact that people think itâs morally acceptable to speak this way in the first place, regardless of whether the law permits it or not.
however, going so far as to apply the same logic to peopleâs actions is where the line must be drawn. that sentiment contributes to the mob mentality attitude of âsomeoneâs actions does not suddenly take away their rights.â when someone takes an action that is illegal (such as physically attacking jewish students), their ability to act freely is, simply put, taken away (they get arrested and prosecuted for assault).
let me rephrase that. when someone IN THE WESTERN WORLD takes an action that is illegal, they are penalized by no longer being able to take those actions. murderers go to prison. rapists go to prison. kidnappers go to prison. in the western world, in democratic society, terrorists are prosecuted.
but in the middle east (excluding israel), society is the opposite of democratic. governments are authoritarian dictatorships (example: iran) built on colonialist and genocidal values with the goal of conquering land. conquests, which by definition use ethnic cleansing, sexual violence, forced conversions, and oppression to actually do the conquering, are an ideal. organizations like hamas, the houthis, hezbollah, ISIS, al-qaeda, the taliban, and the bazillion other terrorist regimes in the region are existentially dependent on islamic fundamentalist imperialism. that, if you didnât know, is not islamâitâs the belief that islamic sharia law should be implemented via the conquest and reform of the world into a unified and entirely muslim country, or a caliphate.
in other words, colonization. in other other words, freedom of absolutely nothing.
in a world like that, you are allowed to do whatever you want, but youâre only allowed to do it if the government says itâs okay. in a world like that, islam is not just a religion, itâs the only religion. in a world like that, women have no education and are owned by their husbands. in a world like that, being queer isnât just forbidden, itâs a crime almost always punished by the death penalty. in a world like that, there is no âwoman, life, freedom.â there is no autonomy or free will, there is no self-expression, and the government makes sure that thereâs no escape, either. (unless, of course, you do the bidding of said murderous authoritarian dictatorship âgovernment.â)
thatâs what it means when we say that openly queer, trans, jewish, and all-non muslims would inevitably end up murdered if they stepped foot in gaza. itâs never okay to wish that upon someone, but simply saying that if the average self-proclaimed âpro palestinianâ were to hypothetically find themselves
thatâs what it means to say freedom of belief is always allowed without specifying that itâs actually only allowed in the western world. and by pointing that out, iâm not saying that i think thatâs how it should be, because i donât. iâm saying thatâs how it is. iâm saying that in an ideal world, no one should be able to follow a belief system that leads to and advocates for violence and oppression. ever.
context matters. in the real context of whatâs happening, israel is the only democracy in the middle east. itâs surrounded by countries that are all built on a desire to bring about its destruction. in israel, women are political leaders, pride month is celebrated, half the population are vegan hippies (lmao), anti-war protests happen every five minutes, and churches, synagogues, and mosques stand next to each other. and itâs all allowed.
yeah, the israeli government as it is now is the most right-wing it has ever been. but that does not mean it shouldnât exist. slogans and chants like âglobalize the intifadaâ and âfrom the river to the seaâ are literally just a death wish to israel, and to democracy in the middle east as a whole.
hate speech needs to be allowed, because hate speech is free speech. but so is love speech, and peace speech, and life speech. you cannot have one without the other. you canât have good without the bad, and accepting the good means accepting the bad, too. itâs a package deal kinda thing. democracy comes with its limits and downfalls, but it needs to have flaws in order to be a democracy. thatâs what âfor the peopleâ means. a democracy that tries to be perfect is just a dictatorship.
I feel like people forget context is a thing which is important.
I have been seeing posts saying that zionists don't get to celebrate pesach/passover because zionists bad. These posts are mainly from goy.
Firstly, pesach is literally about jews returning to our homeland after being freed from slavery in Egypt to give the briefest history on the holiday. Whilst it's not a holiday about zionism as zionism is about having a modern day state and it's celebrating our return historically, it still is ignorant as fuck.
Secondly and more importantly; goy, you do realize that you are going "jews i dont like have lost the right to participate in their religion in my eyes".
Like you do realize that someone's political opinions or even their actions do not suddenly remove their religious rights.
You are literally going "I don't like your political view so you deserve less rights"
Pesach is a holiday which all jews have the right to observe.
And that's all jews. Zionist jews, antizionist jews and non zionist jews. All jews are equally valid in their jewness and can celebrate whatever Jewish holidays they want to.
#to be clear this is all said in good faith with respectful and educational intent!#also this reply was written with the intention of reaching anti-hamas audiences#who recognize that a) israel is not at fault here#and b) that zionism doesnât mean ânon jews/non zionists/arabs should dieâ it means âisrael needs to exist for jews to existâ#damn this really turned into a tangential rant#i hope itâs at least somewhat consistent but itâs 11pm and my coherency switch is turned off#also unconscious antisemitism is present everywhere including in jews because itâs so ingrained into society#that we need to step back and reframe our beliefs and opinions to actually recognize that itâs there#check your biases at the door#tw antisemitism#tw terrorism#tw discrimination#i/p#jumblr#long post#antisemitism#am yisrael chai#gaza#hamas#stop terrorism#ranting in the reblogs#on radical politics

Everybody does the exact same stupid shit. That white nationalist anon I was getting a while ago would send me story after story of some random black guy or immigrant committing a violent crime against a white person. Well, yeah, people are violent, you're gonna find those if you go looking for them. And there's a lot of racial animosity in the world, so you'll even find racially charged ones if you go looking! No shit, Sherlock. We could play this game all day. You find me a news story of a black guy killing a white guy, I find you a news story of white guy killing a black guy. This does no one any good.
TERFs are identical. News story after news story of a trans woman raping somebody. Yeah, the world is an awful place and people rape each other. I can find you a news story of a cis woman raping a teenage boy and getting three months in jail. I can find you a news story of a cis mom killing her disabled kid cause they're too much work. But I don't want to. The world sucks shit, why gorge yourself on the tragedy?
Zionists come up with news story after news story of pro-Palestinian/BDS/whatever protestors being antisemitic. Yep. A lot of people out there hate Jews. And there has been a genuine rise in antisemitism since the Oct. 7th attack, and that's awful. There are no excuses for that. Do you know what else has happened since then? The Israeli military has slaughtered tens of thousands of Palestinians, including huge numbers of innocent civiliansâmen, women and children.
People are often terrible to each other. Welcome to Earth. If you go looking for bad actors in a big enough group, you are guaranteed to find them. How about this. What about all the black people who didn't kill a white little girl? What about the black little girls? What about their hopes and dreams? What about their chance at life? What about all the trans women who didn't rape anybody in a bathroom? What if they just want to go about their lives, without constant public scrutiny of what genitals they have (as a cis woman, can you empathize with that? Constant public scrutiny of what you're doing with your genitals?). What about the 30,000 Palestinians who have been killed, and the 70,000 who have been displaced from their homes?
Fear has made you a monster. Fear has driven you to demand slaughter and oppression of innocent people because they look like guilty people you read about on the news, and since they look the same to you, you feel fearfulâhow can you tell whether these are the innocent ones or the guilty ones? Best to oppress and slaughter them preemptively just to be safe. I am here to tell you that this twisted logic of self-defense does not hold. I do not care if you feel safeâI do not care if you are safeâif the cost of your safety is innocent life. The world is a risky place. I am not going to deny that. Horrible things could happen to any of us. If we go around preemptively attacking other over it, we do not make it a bit better. And, needless to say, danger comes from everywhere, from every group of human beings, and oppressing the people who make you nervous will not, in fact, deliver you from danger. It just makes you a monster.

Respectfully, Do you even realise you are not the minority in this situation? Sure, some people have pushed their hate for Jewish people to extreme levels, but just looking at the map, Israel is not the victim here. Innocent civillians in Palestine, including children, are dying slowly every day. As a Jewish person, you should know what it feels like to be discriminated , and sadly this is a case of victim turning abuser with Israel. Have you even tried to analyse the situation critically outside your biases? Can you not see that this "rise in antisemitism" is most of the time people speaking out saying you can't defend what Israel is doing? Sure, even if it isn't "their native territory" is it then justified to fucking wipe them out like a smidge on the map to reclaim it???
I am not Jewish.
The fact that you assume I am is pretty telling, because the utter indifference toward what you so glibly describe as
Sure, some people have pushed their hate for Jewish people to extreme levels
by the non-Jewish vast majority has been terrifying to me. People shrug off attacks all over the world against Jewish civillians just trying to live their lives, or worse they try to justify it as political action or as something the perpetrators just can't help.
Have you even tried to analyse the situation critically outside your biases?
Have you? I'm not the one trying to press a complex and decades (centuries) old, deeply protracted problem into a simple frame of good and evil or "victim and abuser". (Nice, trying to turn the history of antisemitic persecution into a teaching moment that Jewish people just failed to learn from.)
Come back when you can explain to me how hunting Jewish children in Berlin, pelting them with rocks in London, violating them in France or burning their facilities in Australia is helping children survive in Gaza. I'm sure it's going to be riveting, seeing how me sharing (a very few) posts calling out antisemtism already provoked you into going "but Israel!!!!"
Stop trying to pretend away or ignore the very real and terrifying danger people face just for existing as Jews everywhere, and maybe I'll find your humanitarian concern credible or consistent. As it is, I'm seeing a hypocrite coming into my Inbox to complain that I am sullying their feel-good morally pure middle eastern political cause with dirty dirty nuance. For asking them to care about maybe addressing that negligible issue of hatred of Jews being "pushed to extreme levels" (as opposed to the normal and acceptable levels, I presume).

A reminder that Anti-Israel doesnât mean âPro-Palestinianâ.
The militant faction referenced here is Ansar Allah (aka The Houthi Movement, commonly known as just âthe Houthisâ), a totalitarian theocracy that does not mince words about hating not just Israel, but the Jewish people. Their slogan, which they display as the symbol for their movement, is âGod is the Greatest; Death to America; Death to Israel; A Curse On the Jews; Victory to Islamâ.
Also no, the Houthis didnât risk jack shit for Palestine. Theyâre one in a long line of militant factions who are directly responsible for the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. Abandoning their own peopleâs humanitarian needs to wage war isnât a âriskâ for them; itâs standard operating procedure.
The people obscuring this fact to position them as heroes for opposing Israel are engaging in dishonest, manipulative, and immensely antisemitic propaganda. (Also, like, âpuppetsâ? Really? Thatâs not even subtle.) You do not even have to scratch beyond the surface of just âwho is this referencing, and what is their slogan that they plaster everywhere on everything?â to know this. The fact that anyone would fall for it demonstrates gross negligence & a deep & unserious lack of curiosity on their part. Thereâs no excuse.
But what if you did actually spend more than 5 seconds to know more than 2 facts about the government of Yemen? Well, you might find:
There is a long history of antisemitic violence in Yemen. It culminated in 1949, and roughly 47,000 of Yemenâs 50,000+ Jews fled to Israel. A few remained, but the Houthi regime (which formed in the 90âs and is the one that is now attacking Israeli ships) is so openly, explicitly, & genocidally antisemitic that it forced even that remnant to flee.
The last Jew in Yemen, Levi Salem Musa Murhabi, is currently rotting in a Houthi prison where he has been illegally detained & tortured for the last 7+ years. Our last sign of life was in 2022, so we donât actually know if heâs still alive.
The country that tried to murder all their Jews & continues to torture the only one that remains is now attacking the country where all those Jews went, all the while chanting âdeath to Israel, a curse on the Jews.â Do the math. They didnât âshow upâ for Palestinians. They pulled up on Israel because thatâs where all the Jews theyâve been trying to murder for years live.

Half the people who claim to have lost jobs "because they're pro-Palestine" didn't actually lose those jobs bc of Palestine at all...Like, I'm sorry but if you're even a little familiar with Amanda Seales then you know her reputation was shot to hell long before that and I'm willing to bet you if anything got her dropped by agents it was her bad fucking attitude and godawful personality. Edit bc I know nobody on tumblr has watched The Real since it doesn't involve straight white guys fucking each other but just look at the comment section from when she was co-hosting. Amanda was the worst host they ever had by far, she was just steamrolling everybody bc she loves the sound of her own voice so damn much. If I was her agent I'd have dropped her too.
Then there's Susan Sarandon, who everyone and their mother said was dropped by her agency for "supporting Palestine" and because tumblr can never be bothered to research anything they just bought it wholeheartedly when the truth is that she was dropped for her antisemitic remarks, that included, "There are a lot of people afraid of being Jewish at this time, and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country." Cause Jewish people have never been scared for their lives right? She also went on to share posts from Pink Floydâs Roger Waters, who has been criticized over the years for his antisemitic remarks...But of course it's not as glamorous to be antisemitic trash as it is to be a crusader of freedom, eh, tumblr?
And then there's tumblr's favorite YA author, Xiran Jay Zhao, who's been claiming everywhere that their publishers are ghosting them "for being pro-Palestine" but also straight-up admitted that they missed their agreed-upon deadline for actually writing the book lol. That one is so obviously a cop-out I didn't think I'd have to spell it out for you but here we fucking are.
Must be nice to have Israel to blame for your own ineptitude huh. It couldn't be that you're losing jobs because you're either unprofessional or bigoted, oh no, it must be because Jewish people secretly control the world! Give me a freaking break.
#israel#palestine#antisemitism#tumblr politics#amanda seales#susan sarandon#xiran jay zhao#when in doubt just blame jewish people! a trick that has worked for thousands of years.

Im feeling incredibly grumpy right now and im gonna rant about something real quick Iâve seen in a lot of Jewish online spaces but Reddit is really the biggest space Iâve seen this in.
Routinely gentiles go into a Jewish subreddit and they go âhey Iâm a goy, and *I* think antisemitism sucks. I hate how you guys are treated!â And then everyone stops and throws this person a parade of congratulatory thank yous and praises for not being a bigot, and being *such* a good ally (and of course tons of upvotes)
I honestly am getting so sick of my fellow Jews falling all over themselves to heap praises on someone for doing the absolute bare minimum in not being a dick. We need allies, yes. We have precious few of them. And if you are an ally, you know exactly who you are.
But you donât need to tell us youâre our ally. We need you to actually *show the fuck up*.
Are you shutting down antisemitism *when* (not if) you hear it from someone in your own community? Educating the people in your own communities? In person and on social media? Are you uplifting our voices? Are you actually listening to us? Are you pointing people to *Jewish* resources to learn more about Jews and antisemtism? Are you using your privilege to help us? Are you opening yourself up to potential hate and backlash because youâre doing this? Are you doing the very real work of unpacking the antisemitism that is absolutely baked into Eastern and Western Cultures? (Antisemitism is rampant fucking everywhere. We ALL have work to do to unpack and unlearn it) Are you sitting down and shutting up and letting us speak on our own experiences?
Are you *actually* an ally, or are you content to just come into our spaces and demand thanks for not actively wishing us dead, but not actually doing a damn thing to stop the people in your communities from harming us? Do you actually want to help or do you just want âallyâ points?
There are amazing gentile allies here on Tumblr and elsewhere. In real life and on social media. They are people I know personally and people Iâve only ever seen online. They are amazing people who are actually doing the work. Not just for our community, but for all marginalized people.
But they are allies because itâs the right thing to do. Not because they want the brownie points.
BasicallyâŚPut up, or shut up.
Edit: this is okay to reblog!, Goyim, do not add any goydacity to this post.
#jumblr#personal#ranting#Jewish allies#jewish solidarity#are you actually working to be a good ally or are you just wanting praise?

I refuse to be told to "move on" from October 7th. I simply refuse.
You know the thing about trauma? You don't really get the choice to move on. You may be living in the future, but at least a part of your mind is trapped in that horrible moment. Sometimes that part of you can never escape.
Right now, as I'm writing this, I am sitting at my desk in my room. But right now, as I am writing this a part, huge part, of me is still in that airport. That part of me is still staring at my phone, trying to catch its breath but failing. That part of me is still watching in shock as the death count rises, the videos of Hamas's atrocities are broadcasted everywhere I see, the celebration of my people being massacred is burning my eyes. My ears are hearing the wailing sirens from when I was last in Israel. My hands are still feeling the shaking of the walls as the Iron Dome intercepts attempts upon the lives of my family and me. My heart is hurting for each life lost and each family left broken.
My body is here, in January 10th. My mind is not. My mind, and the mind of nearly every Jew is still stuck in October 7th.
Do not think we chose this. If I could choose indifference, if I could choose apathy, if I could choose ignorance, I wouldn't feel so constantly triggered and in pain.
But nobody gets to choose trauma.
This wasn't a unique trauma, a first-time event. Pogroms are nothing new to us, genocides and attempts at such against us aren't anything new, hateful libel and lies are near-constants.
That's part of what made October 7th so much worse.
I grew up hearing about how my great-grandfather lost his entire family to the Holocaust, how my ancestors survived pogroms, how my parents faced systemic antisemitism in the USSR.
We all grew up hearing our parents and grandparents tell us about antisemitism.
And do not think we were ignorant of it. I was well aware that the world is not even close to shedding its deeply ingrained antisemitism.
I was aware of it when I wrote a speech about discussion of modern antisemitism and being told it was "well-written but controversial". I was aware of it when my teacher said I was responding "emotionally, not academically" to an author claiming antisemitism and the Holocaust weren't "that bad".
I was aware of it when a synagogue near me got shot up, a synagogue I've been to. I was aware of it because I had no other choice.
But it had always felt like it was "winding down" from what my parents had told me. Yes what my teacher did was bad but at least he didn't explicitly single me out for being a Jew and intentionally fail me. Yes the feedback for my speech was hurtful but it wasn't like I was being violently censored. Yes the shooting was awful but it wasn't a full-blown pogrom.
I'm not saying my logic was correct. Far from it. But that's how it felt before October 7th.
When October 7th happened I saw that nothing was "winding down" as I had previously thought. People were still just as keen to gleefully cheer on the killing of Jews as they had been. The world is just as slow to act when Jews are being forcibly held and tortured and killed. Blood libel and ideas of the "doctor's plot" are alive and well.
Oct 7th triggered old trauma, Oct 7th was traumatic in its own right, and for most of us, Oct 7th proved that antisemitism isn't going anywhere. It isn't winding down or getting better.
And that kind of pain? That kind of trauma? That sticks with you.
You wouldn't tell any other person to get over their trauma. So what makes it ok to say it to traumatized Jews as we are still processing the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust?
That behavior is horrible and inexcusable.
Trauma is trauma, you don't get to decide who does or doesn't have the right to be traumatized. You don't get to decide how people discuss their trauma.

SEPTEMBER 4, 2024
Many anti-Israel protestors claim that the terrorist groups they support are merely anti-Zionist, not antisemitic.
The evidence shows otherwise.
Letâs take a look.
THIS IS A HAMAS FLAG...
âŚin the middle of New York City. Some Hamas apologists will tell you that Hamas no longer intends to exterminate all Jews, because in 2017, they âreplaced their [openly genocidal] charter.â Well, lucky for you, Hamas is here to set the record straight. See, after releasing their ânewâ charter, Hamas co-founder Mahmoud al-Zahar assured the media that the 2017 document did not replace their original 1988 charter.Â
Since 2017, Hamas has made openly genocidal calls toward Jews. In 2018, Hamasâs Al-Aqsa TV media channel predicted âthe cleansing of Palestine of the filth of the Jews.â
In 2019, Hamas Political Bureau member Fathi Hammad said, âYou seven million Palestinians abroad, enough warming up! There are Jews everywhere! We must attack every Jew on planet Earth â- we must slaughter and kill them, with Allahâs help.â In 2021, Hammad called, via Al-Aqsa TV, for the Palestinians in Jerusalem to âcut off the heads of the Jews.â
BTW, THIS IS ONE OF THE MANY THINGS THAT THE ORIGINAL HAMAS CHARTER SAYS...
"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (evidently a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Moslem)."
(Article 7)
Pretty explicitly antisemitic, wouldnât you agree?
THIS IS A HEZBOLLAH FLAG (AND A HAMAS HEADBAND)..
âŚin the middle of New York City. Like Hamas, the entire purpose of Hezbollahâs existence is the destruction of the State of Israel. Unlike Hamas, however, Hezbollah, for decades, has carried out violent terrorist attacks against Jews not just in Israel, but also in the Diaspora.
Hezbollahâs most notorious attack was the 1994 bombing of the AsociaciĂłn Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA), the largest Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The attack took 85 innocent lives. Before October 7, the AMIA bombing was the single largest antisemitic massacre since the end of the Holocaust.
Given Hezbollah targets (non-Israeli) Jews worldwide, could it be that their problem is with Jews, not just with Zionism?
THIS, AGAIN, IS THE HEZBOLLAH FLAG...
...at the Princeton University encampment. If youâre still on the fence about Hezbollahâs true antisemitic intentions, fear not: Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah is here to clarify them for you.
âIf we searched the entire world for a person more cowardly, despicable, weak and feeble in psyche, mind, ideology and religion, we would not find anyone like the Jew. Notice, I do not say the Israeli,â Nasrallah stated. Just anti-Zionism, huh?
Then thereâs his infamous threat: âIf [the Jews] all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide.âÂ
We get the message loud and clear.
THIS IS "JEWISH" VOICE FOR PEACE, GLORIFYING THE HOUTHIS...
...using a photo that very clearly showcases the Houthi banner, which states, âGod is the Greatest, Death to America, Death to Israel, A Curse Upon the Jews, Victory to Islam.â
âA Curse Upon the Jewsâ is pretty straightforward antisemitism, donât you think?Â
The Houthis are also personally responsible for ethnically cleansing the last Jews out of Yemen. Just anti-Zionism, eh?
THIS IS A PALESTINIAN FLAG WITH VARIOUS PORTRAITS, INCLUDING THAT OF YAHYA SINWAR...
âŚin the middle of New York City. If orchestrating the October 7 massacre, the biggest antisemitic massacre since the end of the Holocaust, is not evidence enough for you, there are other indications that Sinwar is not exactly a friend of the Jews.
In May of 2021, for example, Sinwar led a rally, in which the crowd was encouraged to chant, "We will trample on the heads of the Jews in front of everyone..."
There is also, of course, his infamous threat: âOctober 7 was just a rehearsal.â
Sinwar is the head of Hamas, which weâve already established doesnât really like Jews.
THIS IS A PFLP FLAG (AND A HEZBOLLAH FLAG AND A HAMAS HEADBAND)...
âŚin the middle of New York City. See that red flag? Yeah, thatâs the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. PFLP flags are all the rage at pro-Palestine protests. Marxist Jihad. Super fun.
Yet, while the PFLP claims to advocate for a secular, democratic Palestine, the reality is much darker. When, for example, the PFLP, with the aid of West German terrorists, hijacked Air France Flight 139, en route from Tel Aviv to Paris, they infamously separated the Jewish from the non-Jewish passengers.Yes, you read that right: they separated the Jewish from the non-Jewish passengers. Not the Israeli passengers from the non-Israeli passengers. The Jewish from the non-Jewish passengers.
The non-Jewish passengers were let go. The Jews were kept hostage. Thatâs a pretty clear message.
THIS IS A PFLP FLAG...
âŚat the University of Pennsylvania encampment. If youâre still not convinced this is antisemitic, the founder of the PFLP, George Habash, quickly was there to set the record straight: âKilling one Jew far away from the field of battle is more effective than killing a hundred Jews on the field of battle, because it attracts more attention.â
You read that? He said âJew.â Not Israeli. Not Zionist. âJew.â
The PFLP live-streamed the October 7 massacre, and, as of several months ago, Israeli intelligence estimated that the PFLP was holding the youngest hostage, one-year-old Kfir Bibas, and his five-year-old brother, Ariel Bibas, hostage.
THIS IS A PALESTINIAN ISLAMIC JIHAD FLAG (AND A PFLP FLAG AND A HAMAS FLAG)...
âŚin the middle of New York City. Palestinian Islamic Jihad participated in the October 7 massacre. More than that, however, their entire ideology is antisemitic to the core.
See, Palestinian Islamic Jihad believes that a proper reading of the Quran indicates that Muslims are in an eternal struggle with their forever enemies, the Jews, and that the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians exists because of this eternal struggle.Â
To recap: Palestine or no Palestine, Islamic Jihadâs ideology dictates that Jews are the eternal enemies of the Muslims.
Sounds antisemitic to me, but what do I know?
For a full bibliography of my sources, please head over to my Instagram and  Patreon.Â
somehow weâve normalized weekly antisemitic hate marches in broad daylight

"Settlement" housing surveys and dominates the landscape, West Bank, Palestine
THE ARCHITECTURE OF VIOLENCE (2014)
It feels like an important time to revisit this short documentary. Part of the Rebel Architecture series, the film examines, clearly and concisely, the use of design as a weapon of intimidation and subjugation within the Palestine Israel conflict.  One element it focuses on is Palestine's 'architecture of occupation': the way the built environment, even in the form of suburban 'settlement' housing (in which tracts of Israeli homes have been built in occupied territories like the West Bank), has been deliberately shaped to intimidate, surveil, segregate, and even dehumanise.
"Settlements are built on hilltops, overlooking Palestinian valleys, to dominate. They're laid out to create a suburban-scale optical device that can survey the territory. The bright red roofs of the houses are mandated by law... to allow military to understand what's friend and foe: where to bomb and where not to."
"...When you put Israeli colonies on highways, you accelerate Israeli movement through the space. In the same way, with every twist and turn of terrain, Palestinians encounter a checkpoint, a border, a fence, a valley they cannot cross..."
It's important for architects and urban designers everywhere to understand that our craft has the potential to be weaponised. It's important that, no matter whom the client, we think about how a project will impact everyone whose life it touches. But sadly, as essential as these considerations are, they're of no immediate help to civilians from both sides who are suffering in Gaza and the rest of Palestine and Israel right now. So, it seems worth sharing:
Some ways that we can help:
1. Speak up. Send an email to your elected representative. Sign petitions. Stand up in any forum you can against human rights violations, and against both islamaphobic and antisemitic behaviour.
2. Contribute to a trusted aid organisation working in Gaza, such as Unicef or the British Red Cross. Sites like charitynavigator and charitychecker can be used to check it's a group who'll use it well.
3. Understand the context. Short videos here and here provide a clear introduction/overview.
4. Boycott companies that are directly profiting from the illegal occupation, and from human rights violations.

A brief History of Mizrahi Jews in Arabic countries and Their expulsion
A\N: While I am an Ashkenazi Jew, I have done A LOT of research, and have both Iraqi friends and relatives to corroborate this with. Also, I'm petty - an Iraqi user who comments regularly on my posts seems to forget about his own country's Jewish history... Well, I hope he forgot instead of the more likely reality: It seems like Arabic people nowadays aren't aware of Jewish history in their countries since they either killed to expelled them all. Thus is born the constant argument that all Jews originated in Europe and are merely settlers in the Middle East.
I realized that what may be obvious to me won't be obvious to others since I'm a history nerd who grew up in Israel with plenty of rich archeological evidence and resources surrounding me. I'm happy to make these posts in hopes of educating others and contributing my part to ending antisemitism and prejudice. ___________________
You might have seen the following picture in one of my previous posts:
It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Unfortunately, in this case, it concludes hundreds of years of discrimination, violence, and exile for Mizrahi Jews. * It is important to note that numbers are slightly varied between sources, but the meaning is clear.
In a nutshell- all throughout history, the fate of Jewish people in countries where they weren't the religious majority was the same:
Discriminatory laws, blood libels, being blamed for disasters > violence & murder > Pogroms * > and eventually- exile or mass murder AKA ethnic cleansing \ genocide.
Pogrom- Â the term refers to violent attacks by local non-Jewish populations on Jews in the Russian Empire and in other countries.
Every Jewish community has its own Pogrom. While my side of the family might immediately think of the Kristallnacht or persecution & pogroms in Hungary, it is different for Jews from different backgrounds. You can read about a few cases of forced conversion to Islam here.
A brief History of the land of Israel
The land of Israel has always been considered a strategic passageway, and so many empires throughout history have conquered it:
* I simply cannot accurately write 3000+ years of Jewish history in the land of Israel. I found that this video summarizes it perfectly.
Exile from the land of Israel
Jews were exiled from the land of Israel numerous times since the Assyrian empire conquered Israel in 732 BCE, to what we call "the diaspora" ××××. It was not by choice and we were persecuted everywhere we went.
Jews were not allowed to legally return to Israel until 1948 when the British mandate over the land of Israel ended and Israel was formed. Yes, even during the Holocaust.
The Jewish answer to exile - Aliyah ע××× There have been 5 waves of illegal immigration from all over the world to the land of Israel before 1948, recorded in modern times.
Chart taken from Wikipedia (their chart was the best I could find in English)
Forced Conversion
Whether in conquered Israel or in exile, Jews were often forced to convert to either Christianity or Islam. The choice was between conversion or death.
*You can read more about some of the forced conversion of Jews during history here and here.
First Case study- The last jew of Peki'in, Margalit Zinati
Peki'in is an ancient village in the upper Galilee, Northern Israel. Nowadays, its population is mostly Druze.
Peki'in has had a Jewish presence since the Second Temple period, until Arab riots in the 1930s*. Meet the remaining member of the Zinatis, the only family who returned. (aish.com)
*Read more on the Arab riots of the 1930s here and here. Margalit is currently the last Jew living in the village of Peki'in . She is the last direct descendent of the Zinati Cohen family. The Zinati family's origins are dated back to the Second Temple era. The former Jewish community of Peki'in maintained a presence there since the Second Temple period (516 BCE â 70 CE). That is when the polytheistic Persian Empire conquered the land of Israel. For reference- that was approximately 500 years before Jesus was even born! "During which the Second Temple stood in the city of Jerusalem. It began with the return to Zion and subsequent reconstruction of the Temple in Jerusalem, and ended with the First JewishâRoman War and the Roman siege of Jerusalem." (Wikipedia)
As an adult, Margalit chose to not marry so she could stay in Peki'in and continue her family's Jewish legacy in Peki'in. She later became in charge of the ancient synagogue in the village and turned her basement into a visiting center \ museum of Jewish history in Peki'in- "House of Zinati". in 2018, she lit up a torch as part of Israel's 70th Independence Day Torch lighting ceremony (which is considered an honor given to influential and trailblazing people).

Second Case study - Iraqi Jews (Babylonian Jews \ ×Ö°××Öź×Ö´×× ×Ö¸Öź×Ö°×Ö´××)
Iraqi Jews are one of the oldest documented Jewish communities living in the Middle East. It is estimated that they originated around 600 BC.ת
The Farhud اŮŮŘąŮŮŘŻ ×פר×××
Unfortunately, Iraqi Jewish history ended in the same pattern I've described earlier. The Farhud was the violent mass dispossession against the Jewish population of Baghdad, Iraq between 1-2 June 1941. was the pogrom or the "violent dispossession" that was carried out against the Jewish population of Baghdad, Iraq, on 1â2 June 1941, It immediately followed the British victory in the Anglo-Iraqi War.
Background for the Farhud:
WW2- At the time, many Arabic countries in the Middle East agreed with Nazi ideology.
History of violence towards Jews.
The Anglo-Iraqi War (2â31 May 1941) - caused rising tension, and as usual, it was turned on the Jews.
personal family ties to the Farhud My relative was born in 1939 in Iraq, to a big upper-class Jewish family. Unfortunately, the mass exile of Jews in the 1950s didn't skip her family: she was stripped of her belongings and exiled to Israel along with her family. In the 1950s there were approximately 140,000 Iraqi Jews. As of 2021, there are only 4 left.
----------------- Please feel free to add anything I missed in the notes. And as usual - remember I am a human being. If you cuss or harass me, I will block and report you.
