okay can i vent for a minute? get real personal with all y'all?
i've been a tumblr user since i got my first tablet at age 12, over a decade of having at least one active blog (usually more) so it's safe to say i've both gotten my fair share of hate and found ways of using this app to benefit me and keep me detached from this hate
currently i have 4 active blogs, my main where i do the typical reblogging and updates on my fanfics, this one where i post like a proper blog and reblog jewish things that matter to me, my mental health recovery blog where i talk about my eating disorder and ptsd, and my adult one where i reblog fun sexy stuff and chat about the struggles of dating as sex positive people with trauma.
all very important to me and all have various levels of anonymity when it comes to knowing about me as a person. some have my name, some a nickname, one just my age. plus various tidbits so people know what to expect from my posts and what we can chat about, basic blog rules essentially
in the past few months as antisemitism has gotten more and more common place i of course get more anon hate, i don't turn of inboxes since i do get nice stuff from time to time, and that's kind of the territory of running a blog (i had a trans rights one in the age of kalvin garrah, i think i'll live)
out of those four blogs the one that gets the most antisemitic messages, i mean full paragraphs of truly vile ramblings that read like a nazi fever dream, is the one for my mental health recovery. a blog that i block all but mutuals on, meaning either a stranger or someone i've interacted with is sending these messages
i've started replying to them, cause i feel if they want to be mean and make a fool of themselves i might as well let everyone see (poor guy keeps sending me weird reviews of "my" wattpad fics. i've never had a wattpad account but this doesn't seem to stop him), but what gets me is that blog has the least personal information on it. no name or nickname, no hobbies or interests listed, nothing about what i do for work beyond "pet care", and the only mention of my religion or politics was one post that joking about how my mental health often gets worse around the high holy days (very demure, very mindful)
and yet that's the blog that gets straight up death threats, not even disguised as anything else, just straight up calling me a pig who deserves to burn. not the personal blog where i've posted about israel and palestine, or about dating while religious, or hell even this one that might as well be a "i'm a sensitive jewish minded person! thoughts?" blog.
no the one blog that people feel safe harassing is the nondescript recovery and relapse blog. that's where people feel comfortable.
and it makes me sad, not because of what was said, but because it *was* said. that there's people out there comfortable enough in their bigotry to go up to someone and spew vile hate like it's nothing, but only of course if they can't put a name or face to the person they're talking to
what this reminds me of is when i was in high school i had an art teacher who didn't stand for antisemitic jokes, and there were a lot in my school. one day a kid just asked him "Mr.Dexter, are you a jew?" and his response really stuck with me. he said "It doesn't matter, maybe I am, maybe I used to be, maybe my wife is. But you shouldn't not say mean things just because you don't want to get in trouble, you shouldn't say them because you know it's wrong. If you didn't know, you wouldn't ask."
and i think that really sums up all these trolls i've seen running through jewish blogs or even ones that casually mention it, they know it's wrong but the aren't saying it to a jewish face, they're just saying it to the idea of judaism
these people wouldn't walk up to you on the street and look you up and down and say half of what they feel comfortable typing, but here where they can not only hide their face, but seek out a target that has hidden their own they've found a way to give themselves free reign to say and do whatever they want. to them it's not a person on the other side of the screen, it's the strawman caricature of a jewish person, out here just for them to yell at to get whatever anger they have out of their system
of course there are some people who would say truly despicable things to a random person on the street, but cmon is that person really on tumblr hunting through buzz words to send hate?
anyways i know the compassionate thing to do would be to pray for them to heal what's hurting them so bad, but yanno what, they can suffer a bit first

I hate to say it but everyone saying there's Pre-Holocaust vibes are correct
We're seeing a massive spread of unchecked, unrepentant antisemitism spreading quicker with social media now. People are cheering on murdered Jewish kids and then fact checking us to tell us it didn't happen
Blood libel is gaining traction like never before all the while Jews in the Diaspora are being attacked
So to all you proud Nazi Punchers, I must ask,
Why are you standing by, letting this happen, repeating things the Nazis could only dream of? Why aren't you standing up, dismantling antisemitism in your movement, helping Jews once again forced to hide in their homes?
Or was it never about protecting Jews? Just about protecting your egos
#mango rambles#personal fruits#jumblr#ישראבלר#Israel#Antisemitism#I want this post to spread#I want every 'antizionist' to take a close look#Ask yourself why you aren't standing up for Jews like you bragged you would

Today's Israeli claim to self-determination has no sense, since the vast majority of Israeli are Askenazi. They are litteraly mixed! And, have emigrated back to their land after over A THOUSEND YEAR. How can we still take seriously a claim to a land, you, supposevely, have habitated after a thousend? Gheddafi was right. Israel is a Rhodesia who has been succeful to replace the native population with white Europeans. Again, Askenazi are to be considered white Europeans, as they lost all of their middle eastern traits and completely mixed up with Europeans
again y’all let’s use our bestie Google!
the vast majority of Israelis are not Ashkenazi, which again, you would know if you took 5 minutes to do a quote Google search. But that doesn’t matter, because indigenity doesn’t expire.
Again, indigenity doesn’t expire.
The ancestors of today’s Ashkenazim were forced out of our land and prevented from coming back. But they never assimilated, and this can be seen in the food we cooked, songs we sang, and languages we spoke and prayed in.
How long must someone be prevented from returning to their land before they lose their indigenity? Are the Cherokee no longer indigenous to the southeastern US because they’ve been forced out of their land?
Not to mention that Jews maintained a consistent presence in א״י throughout the diaspora despite the constant empires trying to force us out.
Furthermore, while indigenity is not determined by genetics, genetic studies consistently show Ashkenazi Jews as plurally Levantine, and most every other Jewish diaspora group’s DNA is majority Levantine. This is corroborated by pretty much every reliable study of Ashkenazim.
Also, self-determination doesn’t require being an indigenous people. For example, Italians aren’t considered an indigenous people, but they do deserve self determination, and they currently do self determine in Italy. Jews have remained a distinct ethnoreligious group for around 3000 years, so just like any other ethnic group, we have the right to self determination. And right to self determination doesn’t and shouldn’t alienate the rights to self determination of any other group.
Your blood quantum BS isn’t appreciated here, anon.

Why doesn’t the Torah condemn owning human beings as property?
Because they were wrong. We now recognize that they were wrong. Here is a more robust explanation into the context of slavery when Jewish texts permitted slavery, which were quite progressive for the time. Now, why doesn't the New Testament condemn any of the same shit as the Torah beyond vague "we can eat pork because Jesus showed up"? Why doesn't the Qur'an condemn Jihad against the Jews? If you want to come for the Torah you had better be giving equal weight to the immoral shit from other religions.

maybe stop committing genocide if you don't want the shit rightfully beat out of you. How many Palestinians have you murdered again?
oh shit you got me. i, personally, have killed probably 10,000 palestinians from my home in kentucky. i'm actually personal friends with benyamin netanyahu, too, he comes to our kabbalat shabbat services regularly on his private jet or something. he also always makes sure to bring fresh christian babies' blood for us to use in the matzah we eat every shabbat afternoon. damn, i really thought i was hiding it

Okay, this is my third time trying to put this into words. I am very upset, hurt, and honestly terrified. I’m about to share a lot about myself, my family, and a very scary situation happening right now, so for my own safety, I won’t provide too many details.
I live in a secondary city in a South American country. The Jewish community here is very small—around 5,000 people total out of over 50 million. In my city, which has over 3 million people, there are only about 300 Jews. We’re literally on the other side of the world from Israel.
We own a family business, a small clothing factory where we make knitted garments. It was founded by my grandmother 48 years ago. My father is the current manager, and both my sister and I work there. We employ around 80 people. We pay fair and legal wages (not the industry standard in my country), and although times are really hard, we’ve never missed a payment, not once in our 48 years in business. My father paused his own salary and hasn’t received a cent since January, and my sister and I both stopped getting paid for three months. But the people who work with us have always received their salaries as they should.
Now, today, September 30th, (just a couple of days before the start of our high holidays and exactly one week before the first anniversary of October 7th) the biggest and most important public university in my city, in conjunction with the syndicate council, invited the Palestinian ambassador to give a conference about the current situation and the war. Well, apparently, it derailed into open antisemitism and ended up as a conference about how Jews are all thieves and scammers. Because, I kid you not, back in the '90s, a huge group of my country’s biggest companies went bankrupt and couldn’t pay their employees what they owed. One out of about 30 of those companies was owned by Jewish people. So, of course, "we Jews are all liars, scammers, and thieves, just like the Israelis—always trying to take what doesn’t belong to us"
So, what conclusion did they reach at this conference about Palestine and the current war happening on the other side of the world? Well, naturally, they decided to target Jewish-owned businesses in my city (which means our factory and two other small businesses in our area) to protest and vandalize, because we’re all thieves and scammers, and Israel is bad and horrible, and everyone in my city needs to be made aware of that. When are they planning to come? October 7th, of course, when else?
The only reason I even know about this is that one of my Jewish friends decided to attend the conference to hear from the Palestinian ambassador and, risking their own safety, stayed to hear the names of the businesses that are going to be targeted.
I'm hurt and scared and I've been trying not to cry since I found out. These are the people on the left, these we were supposed to be my people, I've marched with them, I've worked and voted with them. I don't know what to do? Please, please tell me how are they different from actual Nazis? How is this situation different from any other jew living in Europe in the 1930's? I guess shannah fucking tovah to me, as if last year wasn't a wake up call. I am fucking awake.
#if you had asked me yesterday i'd said that my city was not very antisemitic#i stand fucking corrected#we don't get to mourn in peace#and we don't get to celebrate our high holidays in peace#i am at a loss#i truly dont know what to do#i have a week to figure it out i guess#nice of them to give us time#this is my last straw by the way#not on the left anymore i guess i've officially been kicked out because im a dirty dirty jew#antisemitism#jumblr#jewblr#jewish#judaism#rosh hashanah#israel#palestine#october 7#october 7th

Hello - I was impressed and extremely relieved by what you wrote in the post about the cult mentality of the Left RE Israel and accusations of genocide. You mentioned that you bought into the mindset until recently. If it's all right for me to ask, what was it that helped you break out of it? (Please feel free to delete/ignore if you'd rather not answer!)
thank you!! and no worries about asking— i think i put something in my pinned post about how people are welcome to send asks about this stuff, although my story isn’t super interesting. i fell down the typical online rabbithole, a couple weeks after october 7; i knew what had happened, at least vaguely, but the posts trickling onto my dash were all about the (undeniably tragic) loss of life in gaza, with little to no acknowledgment of the hamas atrocities that had started the war, so my narrative was pretty one-sided from the beginning. it just continued to snowball as the months went on and people became more radicalized, calling into question the reality of the 10/7 attacks and the humanity of all israelis. i never went all the way down the pipeline to full-on endorsing hamas or justifying their attacks, at least on a personal level, thank god, but i would reblog other people’s posts referring to hamas as a “resistance movement” and calls to boycott starbucks and mcdonald’s and condemnation of the “zionist media” etc etc etc. what pulled me out of it wasn’t any one thing— if someone had directly called me on my flawed logic and antisemitic biases while i was in this mindset, i doubt it would have done much, just reinforced my belief that i was on the “right side of history” and zionists were aggressors who couldn’t be reasoned with. it was mostly just passive observance and a slow exposure to other perspectives. i’m pretty sure the first post that led me to question my thinking was an ask on jewish-vents, which popped up on my dash in like, late july. this led me down another rabbithole, first scouring every single post on jewish-vents, then moving on to more popular jewish blogs that i had seen on “zionist blocklists” (applesauce42069, xclowniex, and spacelazarwolf were probably some of the blogs that influenced me the most, though i told myself i was just hate-scrolling at first, lol). i felt incredibly guilty seeing all the harm the movement i was a part of had caused to random jews and israelis just trying to live their lives and i realized how it went against everything i believed about how minority groups should be treated. from there, the aspect of actually undoing my thinking and changing my behavior for the better still took several weeks. denial of jewish indigenity to the levant in the face of tantamount archeological and cultural evidence was the first to go, as well as any ambiguity in my feelings about hamas. after that, it’s mostly been a slow process of redefining the idf’s actions from a “genocide” to a “war.” i still believe that what’s happening in gaza is unconscionable and horrific, and that too many innocent civilians have died, but i also understand how difficult it is to fight against a terrorist group that systematically embeds itself in civilian populations, and that the ratio of militant to civilian deaths is incredibly low compared to most urban warfare. i quietly deleted my old blog in early august— if i had directly engaged in harassment against jews, i likely would have kept it to make amends to the harmed parties and put a face to my actions, but as was, i had just contributed to the larger atmosphere of antisemitism on this site, and i felt uncomfortable knowing that i had a blog full of sentiments that no longer matched my values and beliefs. i decided i would be better if i took my endorsement out of the equation entirely, because when you’re looking through the notes of a post, it obviously doesn’t matter if someone who’s reblogged it no longer agrees with what was said— their notes still count as tacit approval, and i did not want approval of this “activism” attached to my online presence. i still have unwanted kneejerk reactions that crop up sometimes, particularly around the fundraiser posts from people “in gaza”; even though i know logically that they have all the markers of scams, there is still a part of me that really wants to believe i could help.
#thank you so much for asking i really do enjoy explaining how i got here and i hope these discussions#can help someone like me someday. choosing to unlearn everything i had swallowed is one of the best decisions i ever made#also sorry this took so long i took like an hour typing it out and hit text block limit for the first time ever#and then tumblr decided there was an ~error~ processing my post#so i pasted it into the notes app and then back into a draft. i hope my response makes sense and isn’t too rambly#leftist antisemitism#deradicalization#i/p#hlmoorewrites#ask

I know some dickheads have now decided that Judaism is the "bad, violent, terrorist religion" and Islam is the "good, peaceful" one, which is only to be expected of white people, but how much of an issue is it currently? Like I've seen some USAmericans sharing how the Islamic faith shapes Gazans values and perseverance (good) except with that distinct white hippie "I'm about to imprint on this like the world's most racist duck" vibe (bad), but I didn't think they're already turning on Judaism in numbers.
Do they realize that Christianity is also the same kind of comfort to Christian minorities in Asia and Africa? That it was Buddhists that genocided the Rohingyas in Myanmar and Tamils in Sri Lanka? That Hindu fundamentalists are even now trying to ethnically cleanse Muslims in India? How Hindus and Christians are terrorized and persecuted in Pakistan? That Muslims have a history of persecuting and ethnically cleansing Jews too?
Really tired of asking y'all to be normal about people's religions man. There's no religion that's inherently violent or exceptionally peaceful. It's just like any other ideology that becomes a weapon in the hands of ethnic power. Interrogate power, not religion, and respect people's belief systems insofar as they aren't in your business.
Edit: I've amended the "long history" of Muslim persecution of Jews because it might be misleading in the current political climate. Zionism and antisemitic Arab nationalism are twin births resulting directly from Christian colonization, and Islamic empires tended to actually be more tolerant of other religions compared to Christianity, especially Judaism, which was considered a sibling religion. Antisemitism wasn't ideologically entrenched in Islamic tradition. It's simply that ethno-religious power will lead to ethno religious domination and intermittent cleansing of minorities, and Islam is no exception. Humans be humaning always.
#Edit: please boost the edit#why can't white people just be fuckin normal for once#tbh this site was so weird about Judaism that it felt almost culty#I had several crises about whether I was being antisemitic before I realized no I'm just reacting to the idealization-demonization binary#that seems to be all western leftists know how to do#white queers are the worst about this#and now some of the asks I've been getting gives me the impression that the west thinks ''Islamist'' is some kind of dangerous cryptid#y'all attach insane levels of importance to people's choice of headgear#the only common denominator of all the Muslims I know is their fixation on biriyani idk#a lot of white lefties just want to use religion to distance yourself from your white privilege#same reason as why communism is so attractive to you#y'all want to share in a legacy of oppression because it's easier than self-reflection and unlearning#antisemitism#anti Zionism#Islamphobia#philosemitism#white queers#western leftists#racism#religious fundamentalism#genocide#religious violence#knee of huss

I find it ironic that western leftists demand israelis leave israel because we're all white colonizers in their eyes (regardless of the fact that even if jews really weren't indigenous to the levant, which we are, over half the population is middle eastern anyway), but when we do leave israel for other countries we get hatecrimed. it would be bad enough if we had people telling us "good on you for going back to where you came from" or some shit but no they really just view us as inherently irredeemable and evil no matter where we are. almost feels like they're trying to lure us into being harassed overseas.
#before the war started i was planning to move to canada when i get older#now i'm terrified to fly to any other country for any reason whatsoever#a bit unrelated but i wanna vent that when the starkid innit concert was announced#i was like “omg finally a starkid thing i can go to britain is way closer to israel than the usa”#but then realised i'd have to deal with seeing antisemitic shit all over the place#and knowing my ass i wouldn't be able to lie about where i'm from when asked#leftist antisemitism#antisemitism#israel#jumblr#hila has spoken

I saw this video of a lady on TikTok who filmed herself walking out of a self-defense class. It was a Krav Maga class (invented by Israelis, this was a class in America) and how when the instructor mentioned this was an Israeli technique, she "felt a horrible feeling in her gut and felt immediately unsafe" and left because she didn't "want to be complicit in genocide". I try not to be a hateful person, but I genuinely hate people like her. I'm so tired of it. I'm tired of always being painted as a bad guy because of the fact that my parents were born in Israel. This was a random self defense class in America and she said she hates it because it has a loose connection to Israel/Jews. It doesn't fund the IDF or anything like that. Surely there's a word for hating something/someone because of their country of origin. X-xeno....? This is plain old bigotry and I'm so tired. Every single comment was cheering her on. I thought the comments would knock some sense into her, but it was just support for her being so brave. It was never about just the IDF. The whole antizionism isn't antisemitism crowd can't even differentiate between an "evil zionist" (sarcastic) and a random Jew who happens to exist, so yes, antizionism is almost always antisemitism. She just hates Jews. Why does she hate Jews so much? This is why Israelis had to invent self defense techniques: because the whole world keeps trying to kill us. If she's so against krav maga "because jews", I hope she never uses Google or a cell phone or modern medicine. I feel so lonely whenever stuff like this happens. Why do they all hate us.
bruuuuuh
didn't you know, everything which was created in israel is inherently evil as that basrdard joo state touched it /j
People always apply this double standard to Israel whcih they don't to other countries. Like you don't see people dissing other martial arts like Jiu-jitsu was created so samurai could fight back if disarmed. Is it now suddenly an evil sport/fighting technique because it was used by armies? Is it now evil because Japan colonized other countries? No ofc it isn't, but you don't see people saying that, they only say it with Israel.

i wish i knew like anything about how to decode anon messages just cause i want to know who has the time to send me these messages on my mental health blog. or even if just having someone to bitch to about the fact that im getting them, it's not anything hitting close to my struggles but just the same hyper violent antisemitism you expect. i know i could talk about it with friends from temple but i don't like talking about bummer stuff there, it's my happy place, and all my goyish friends just are shocked that nazis still exist (i know unfortunately i am the token jew, i promise they're all chill just uninformed)
gonna put the screenshots under the cut cause like some of them are vile, but it's a very weird feeling to get this much hate out if the blue. i feel guilty that the asks aren't hurting my feelings but just making me uncomfortable, nothing being said genuinely has me like in tears and it's not even on this blog where i kind of expect that sort of hate yanno, so i just kinda feel like im being yelled at from a car window
any advice?

you lost your claim to humanity the moment you became a coloniser
So... when I was 5 months old?
When my parents abandoned everything they ever owned in order to bring me to Israel to save my life from the antisemitic abuse that almost killed me as a baby in Communist Romania?
I lost my humanity before I could speak, that's what you're saying? Due to a decision I didn't make? A life saving decision? What exactly would you suggest my parents were meant to do, leave me to die due to antisemitism in Romania?
Which one of us actually lost their humanity here, oh person who doesn't even dare send this hateful message under their username, for others to see what kind of hatred you're capable of spewing?

All zionists should be hung, I don't care, that your your Jewish, so dont pull that "your being antisemitic" shit on me. but your a zionist, so you too, should be hung.
threatening to HANG everyone who supports Jewish self determination (and many who don’t, since you lot like to call any Jew who believes in historical facts a Zionist) is a major yikes.
also maybe “your” not being antisemitic, but you are being antisemitic since your plan would involve the death of upwards of 80% of the global Jewish population.

Neil gaiman is a Zionist :(
this is so funny because if you google "neil gaiman zionist" nearly all of the links are to unsourced tumblr posts or responses to a single tweet from 2015 that just acknowledges Israel's existence
I see gaiman has once again committed the heinous crime of Being Jewish When Israel Is In The News

what is the difference between right and left antisemitism?
sorry, I'm the wrong person to send that ask to.
I'm an Israeli Jew, our right and left don't have antisemitism since it's made up of Jews, so I'm not as familiar with the different forms of antisemitism as diaspora Jews.
the only thing I can say is that right wing antisemites always assume I'm an SJW and that leftist antisemites think I'm a subhuman genocidal colonizer for being born in Israel. now take into account I don't interact with right-wing people online, the only ones I did meet were much more centrist than average, and on the other hand I interacted with a ton of leftists. I believe right wing antisemitism is way more stereotypical and easy to spot as utter nonsense.
right wing antisemitism is definitely worse than left wing, but left wing is like being stabbed in the back by your best friend. sure the right wingers have guns, but they're far and I already prepared a bulletproof vest because I saw it coming, I would never in a million years guess my leftist friends would stab me in the guts and spit on my face.
again, I'm Israeli, I can't tell you more than the little I've experienced online, you should ask diaspora blogs.
@spot-the-antisemitism @edenfenixblogs @etz-ashashiyot @prismatic-bell @spacelazarwolf and anyone else? sorry my memory is trash and I can't remember which jumblr blogs are diaspora jews.

The ability of Hamasniks to ignore actual facts is so disturbing. I knew they would be awful after the news of the hostages being murdered broke, but the fact that so many are insisting (falsely) that the IDF actually killed them is just too far. Especially because a Hamas spokesman literally came out with a statement confirming that Hamas ordered the guards to execute the hostages. I truly don’t know what else to say.
Hamas themselves have been clear since oct that what they want is dead jews and they’re happy about killing us by any means necessary, even killing innocent palestinians if they have to. yet every time something happens there’s a wave of excuses from leftists because they can’t admit their uwu freedom fighters just enjoy killing.
