Thinking about "Cabaret" again (it's on Broadway this year I WISH I could go) and how IRL Neo-Nazis sing "Tomorrow Belongs to Me" unironically. Fucking disgusting. In context, that song is sung (by the Nazi supporting characters) during an engagement party, immediately after they learn the groom-to-be is Jewish. It is a threat against him and everyone celebrating their union (which is later called off due to this + a violent hate crime). None of the (non-Nazi) main characters join in, and at least in the production I've seen, they look *horrified*. This is and was a violent ideology.
