For the record, Israel's Yad Vashem institute has documented and archived (available online) the names and as much info as possible on roughly 4.9 million Jewish victims of the Nazis and their collaborators. We KNOW these are not all the names, there is also PLENTY of evidence that even more Jews were murdered (what's referred to in historic research as "convergence of evidence" from multiple sources). Still, the genocide of my people was SO thorough, it happened on SUCH A SCALE, that many names are gone forever. My grandmother had two cousins murdered in the Holocaust whose names are unknown to us. She just knew she had two cousins, she knew the community they lived in, and she found out after she survived that this entire community was wiped out in the gas chambers in Auschwitz. There was no one left for my grandma to talk to and try to find out more about her cousins. NO ONE with integrity can claim the numbers are exaggerated, not when despite the magnitude of the slaughter, there's evidence with names, places of birth, circumstances of murder, pictures, documents and more for basically 5 million Jewish victims.

I also think one of the most dangerous things that helps the spread of different forms of antisemitism nowadays is the "I've educated myself" idea, where the sources of info are an echo-chamber that repeats and amplifies antisemitic lies. So I tried looking into this but all I could really find on the subject was a tumblr post from a few years back detailing how the court of owls plays into anti semitic troupes which I was kinda already aware of considering all secret organisations unfortunately play into that troupe thanks in large part to nazi propaganda the same way alot of conspiracy theories are also anti semitic due to how they've been used by nazis and white supremacists

And court of owls does play into the troupe - a group of rich elites that control Gotham from the shadows, that activity try to keep Gotham as shite as possible for their own profit and that steal children - but these are also just common troupes when it comes to secret organisations so it raises a good question of if people can ever use a secret shadow organisation without it being anti semitic? I try really hard to stay out of arguments online (real ones, I mean - silly fun arguments like cake vs pie I'm totally up for). There are too many people who get some sort of high off of contention.

But right now I am seriously disgusted. Someone was spouting the "free Palestine" slogan because they say Ashkenazi Jews are not indigenous to the Middle East, because they're white. So I looked it up. As of this posting, Wikipedia cites genetic studies that show that Ashkenazi Jews have a mixture of European and Levantine genes. Having the former ancestry does not negate the latter.

When are people going to wake up and realize that what some are so loudly protesting for is worse than what they claim to be against? Hamas is a corrupt organization that doesn't care any more for the lives of their own people than it does for the lives of Jews. And the only way "Palestine" will be "free" requires the abolishment of the state of Israel. And that requires actual genocide, because the Jewish people have precisely one land where they can defend themselves, where they don't have to worry about expulsion based on their religion and ancestry, and they will not let it go willingly. And they shouldn't. Archaeology shows that they have been there for millennia, longer than Arabs, and history records the same.

The country isn't perfect. None is. But attacking the terrorists that run Gaza right now is not genocide; it's defending against those who call for it. If Israel wanted to wipe Gaza off the map, they could; they've got the weapons technology to do so. But they're fighting this war the hard way, and losing more citizens to it. do you ever think about how RCG-written episodes, no matter how bad (both character morality-wise and writing-wise) they get, will always have a degree of humanity to them. like. 11x04 has dee doing something that is So incredibly wrong and horrible to dennis. but the reactions to it don't match its intensity. 12x07 again has dee doing something absolutely fucking deranged, and the gang tells her how fucked up it was. there's actually an acknowledgement both from her and from the others that what she did was awful, but her motivation, charlie, dennis, frank and mac's motivations throughout the episode make sense. dee's insecurity is the root of it, she can't handle being someone's "rock bottom", and she needs to prove that it can get worse. 11x04 dee just decides she's going to be a bastard and tell everyone that dennis was raped at 14. we don't know why she does this, and she really has no reason to, other than to be an asshole.
