playing witcher 3 and whenever i do a mission with yen it feels like i have a lot less freedom? like the game is forcing us to be together. i avoid flirting and disagree with her plans but i often don't have a choice. now her character profile says we're growing closer. (it also says she was hostile and cutting for the best years of our relationship! sounds healthy!)
example: she wants to break into a lab. i say no, she ignores me. she wants to steal a mask and won't say why. at this point i can't object and am just praying it's not too destructive. she gets us gas chambered and one of the dialogue options was 'i want to kiss you.' i hope you mean cpr!? then when i try to confront her, she jokes? girl you're angry 80% of the time and now you want be a comedian?
personally i find yenralt relationship toxic and don't want to pursue it so i find this so annoying. you've been on/off for 20 years, if you haven't worked it out yet, maybe you should move on. i just wanna ride roach and fight monsters now i'm stuck in divorce court.

Damn, the antis are just so vindicated by that one sentence, huh?
I'm feeling pretty vindicated that it was bullcrap if the puppy dog eyes towards Geralt is anything to go by. Not to mention the never-ending songs towards Geralt, the heartbreak on the mountain. The little.. how about we get away from the toxic witch together? Just you and me? I'm just trying to work out what pleases me, as he looks nervous and downtrodden.
The breakup song.
Getting tortured by Rience, even when he knew where Kaer Morhen might be located. When he knew SOME of Geralts weaknesses, and had other information that Rience could have used, but chose not to tell.
After singing Burn Witcher Burn..he looks sad...hurt. And that's why Rience took him btw, he probably figured since Geralt jilted Jaskier that the information would flow freely. Yeah, no.
Hated Yennefer. Probably has resentment, even if he doesn't realize it.
But yeah, all the pining looks and songs written from his broken heart, it's platonic. His confession in season 1, asking Geralt to RUNAWAY with him. But, yeah, take to heart one statement when Jaskiers known to lie to protect himself. 🤷♀️

Listen, Yennefer and Ciri’s relationship is sort of becoming interesting. Kind of. I still don’t fully trust Yennefer with her because she’s fully repeated mistakes before, no matter what Yennefer claims.
The more annoying thing is Yennefer acting like Geralt not fully trusting her after she betrayed him can be fixed by writing letters and reminding him of the times they fucked.
Also is it just me or do the actors have less fucking chemistry than ever before? Like holy shit, I didn’t care much at all before about that pairing, but now it’s just actively unbearable.

negative post time... while I am deeply into the current interest in yennskier and it's highly highly preferable to the previous widespread anti-yen sentiment... there are some moments that it feels like yennefer is seen as an accessory to bard, as as a romantic interest first and a character with her own goals and desires second, etc. Which has been driving my lack of interest in participating in that side of fandom lately.

Fave shows tag game
Rules: List 5 favourite shows (in no particular order) and answer questions accordingly.
Thanks @the-evil-stick for the tag. Your answers were amazing. I adored them.
Anyway, let's go.
Loki
The Witcher
Shadow and Bone
Midnight Mass
Our Flag Means Death
My answers below the cut.
1. Who is your favourite character in 2?
No question, it's Jaskier. My absolute baby. The main character. There is no one else.
2. Who is your least favourite character in 1?
Can I pick Kang since he manipulated Loki even when he was in the TVA and not in the sacred timeline? And everyone else he controlled.
3. What's your favourite episode of 4?
Episode 5. It's very Riley-centric and he's my fave from this show. He deals with a lot this episode.
4. What is your favourite season of 5?
Lmao, I could go out on a limb and say S2, but since we don't even have a trailer yet, I'm gonna stick with S1.
5. What's your favourite relationship in 3?
Wesper. A close second is Kanej. But Wesper are my absolute fave.
6. Who is your anti relationship in 2?
Not really into Yenralt on their own. As a poly with Jaskier, yes. Mainly, that ship needs more Jaskier in it.
Everything needs more Jaskier in it.
7. How long have you watched 1?
I've watched through twice completely and watched various parts over and over on occasion.
8. How did you become interested in 3?
The show came out on Netflix. We watched the first episode. Partner didn't like it. I went away and starred reading the books, then went back and watched the show. Then I realised I was missing something, which was Six of Crows and I started reading those books, too.
9. Who is your favourite actor in 4?
Hamish Linklater is amazing. The way he plays John/Paul is so good.
10. Which show do you prefer 1, 2 or 5?
Oooh, hard one. At the moment, with a bi bard becoming an actuality that will be shown-on-screen canon, I'm gonna go with The Witcher.
Of course, we have lots of queer rep in OFMD but I'm very obsessed with Jaskier, if you can't tell.
11. Which show have you seen more episodes of 1 or 3?
There are more episodes in Shadow and Bone, so that one.
12. If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?
Warren Flynn. I live.
13. How would you kill off your favourite character in 5?
Buttons sets fire to the ship in a last ditch attempt to distract the big bads and let everyone escape, before he dives into the welcome arms of the sea.
14. Would a 3/4 crossover work?
Saints and God. Alina having to go to Crockett Island to get an amplifier, which is the Angel.
Or Saints vs God. Each side trying to wow more followers by having better miracles.
Could be something in it.
15. Pair two characters in 1 that would make an unlikely, but strangely okay couple.
Okay, total crack. Casey and Miss Minutes.
16. Overall, which show has the better cast, 3 or 5?
That's difficult because I love, love, love the Six of Crows characters, but I have to say Our Flag Means Death has a great cast overall.
Tagging @waterhorseyblues-ao3 @insert-witty-user-name-here @cha-melodius @mirilyawrites @mimisempai @rins-love-wins @chaos-monkeyy @johnsimms @bigpeepee @abitofboth if you or anyone else wants to do this.

Not to mention that this info is coming months after his departure, during the blood origin pr which doesn't go well, when fans are against the writers bc we all saw s2, plus he and millie where basically the face of the promo for enola, plus the love scene he cut was with triss after geralt thought he lost yen forever, people wanted to see that? A love scene with triss when the love between geralt yen wasn't even established thanks to Lauren cutting their scenes and backstory. And the love scene with Anya it was before yen's betrayal. He didn't denied a love scene with her, they both wanted a romantic and not an animalistic, sex scene (isn't what anti yenralt said during s1, that their bond is pure sex and not love?) and imagine if we had a love scene and then she went on with the betrayal according to Lauren's script, how much more hate yen would get, "she lead on geralt for her purposes" , "she used him" etc. And what scenes he rewrote? Roach's death or he added a campfire scene with ciri at the first episode. Wow what bad decisions! Tell me one guest star or ex producer who isn't on Lauren's payroll that said anything bad for him. In fact the actress who played his mother in s1, in an interview about Valhalla in an unrelated question he said cavill is an example of how a list actors should behave on set. He gave her space, he asked her if she felt OK with her lines or wanted anytbi g changed etc. But there are many ex worker of Lauren's who say how egomaniac is and doesn't listen to anyone. And in the end no matter what info are coming now, blood origin will be released soon and then s4 of the Witcher and we'll know.
i get that changes to the script must be awkward for the writers, but they were good changes. i'd go as far as to say they were changes that made s2 bearable. i can't imagine if they had gone ahead with geralt/triss sleeping together, and then yenralt together when she knows she's about to betray him. or if they'd made a joke over roach's death. and i really do understand how someone behind the scenes would go 'this makes life harder for us' but also, it's making a better show. we don't know what's happened with s3, and if henry fought for more changes there, but as a fan looking at s2 i damn well trust his judgement more than i do the writers at this point. labelling him as a misogynist because he didn't trust lauren's vision is one huge leap. also lauren very recently said they left things amicably, which would not be the case if he was truly being rude to her on set as the rumors suggest.
according to this rumour, his behaviour shifted in s2, so s1 he would have behaved correctly. which can happen, we've seen it happen before with tv stars where they behave well because they feel they're on a probation period and then act up when they know the show is a hit. but honestly it just sounds more like henry felt more comfortable to put his foot down about things he was uncomfortable with? especially the shirtless scenes thing, that man had to dehydrate himself for days before filming the shirtless scenes in season 1, i can understand why he wouldn't want to do that again. being uncomfortable with shirtless scenes and sex scenes is something the writers should be taking on board for all actors, especially when they're not necessary to the story and are just being added in so the show can get some gratuitous nudity for viewers.
i can see some things within the rumours being true, but a lot of it reads like an overexaggerated account of one side of the argument. like if you had been ranting to a friend about the things that had pissed you off, and that friend had then given a statement about it. there might well be grains of truth within it, but a lot of it reeks of exaggerated bias. i do genuinely think there was a disagreement between him and the writing team that left to him leaving, but netflix 'firing' him seems like a stretch, it seems more like they both decided that the best thing to do was for him to leave the role.

Yennefer had more chemistry with Jaskier, Cahir, and dare I say it, Istredd, in like one episode than she’s ever had with Geralt throughout the entire series so far.

Geralt and Yen have such great chemistry but "man binds woman to him forever because she's pretty and he ~immediately loves her~" is the start of a story about the hero learning some tough lessons not like...a love story
I love their dynamic so much but I just don't think the show does enough work to make Geralt seem like someone that made the wish out of desperation and loneliness rather than a sense of entitlement

Probably me being the only person in the world (I hope not) who genuinely thinks that Anya’s Yennefer and Liam’s Geralt look like a far better and hotter match??
Henry is a good actor, bless him but he rarely has chemistry with anyone (and don’t say Jaskier, who he barely treats like a friend). Yennefer had the screen sizzling with Istredd but never with Geralt... idk why, maybe cause of the whole age difference? Liam is not much older than Anya at least.
So I’m actually maybe kinda sorta excited to see Liam and Anya on screen. Here’s hoping we get to see more than we did with Henry, if you catch my meaning lol.
And please don’t come @ me for this. I just think Liam’s hotter.

Is so funny to me how every single ship with Yennefer is great un this season
Do you like Yennefer and Tissaia? Fantastic.
Yennefer with Triss? Amazing.
Yenna and Istredd? Lovely.
Yennefer with Fringilla enemies-to-lovers? Great!
My god, we even had this whatever-the-fuck-was-happening-there between her and Cahir.
And dont even talk abt Yennskier being the best thing of the s2.
-every single ship but Yenralt cause wtf is that?? they look like a tired couple who just still together bc of the children and to have sex besides they hate each other ass and call it "love".

my villain original story is the witcher fandom hating on the female protagonists so they can uplift their white straight man... making him the "little perfect snowflake" and her a "awful bitch who is in the way of their m/m fanon ship"
