what fighting evil in society means
okay so gonna try to be succint about what i think here. i can't define evil in a short essay but for the purposes of this consider people who are habitually doing harm from their position, status, habits, lifestyle in a recalcitrant way and may even benefit socially from it.
the reason i'm writing this is mainly to put my own thoughts in order bc i often see christian posts, mostly from the christian right, that don't align with my moral compass bc there's something in them i can't bring myself to relate to, and it has to do with personalizing evil and otherizing it as a psychological cope.
it's inherently dehumanizing when you speak of "god's enemies" and have this whole specific and biased discourse around sin that's basically just a smug way of pointing fingers at other people when you may be just as flawed.
i always wonder who these god's enemies are, like how do you think they can hurt god. is enemies of humanity not a more precious goal to tackle first, given that's what He set to do anyway? the fight for human rights and those who erode and vulnerate them?
when i see a right-wing christian esp a traditionalist speak of the enemies of god i know what they mean. when i see a leftist speak about the enemies of the revolution i know who they mean. and, these are just categories and ideologies that change with the era and sociohistorical contingency. they aren't eternal truth, and they aren't based in christian doctrine.
the role of enemy of [supreme value] in the nazi worldview became the anti-volkish jews and degenerates (bolshevik or capitalist), and in soviet marxist-leninism the capitalist class 'and ideological deviants' came to include lots of absurd things like jews too, nationalists, and peoples were ethnically cleansed because of it. poles, ukrainians.
"enemies of god" becomes a stand-in concept for the enemies of whoever's very worldly, very flawed, very biased political class has in their hypothetical way to power, and replacing one tyranny for the other. it becomes dehumanizing, anti-universalizing, unkind. unchristlike. ungodly. this isn't different with revolutionary marxists, who just see people and the proletariat in a utilitarian fashion. the laws of history demand the "class enemies" be tossed aside on the path to the Good Society (the "Leap Forward"), to just Utopia.
no, i don't buy proto-authoritarian rationalizations any more than i would buy authoritarian ones. by being permissive about that kind of power without consequence, you're all advocating for tyranny and letting go of humanist and democratic values.
here's my reflexion on what actually is fighting evil and why that kind of worldview is flawed from the get-go and self-centered instead of centered on goodness and His word:
the struggle against evil is fundamentally intrapersonal. it's NOT interpersonal. and that's the great pitfall. interpersonal struggles have a different dynamic, inherently. EVIL cannot be destroyed physically or materially by killing people or cutting people out of the definition of humanity, by ending their lives.
in this manner, evil can only be restrained, at best, its capacity destroyed momentarily, but it has a cost, and evil at the end remains exactly as it was; undefeated. it is a lesser evil, that is only a means to the step that would actually defeat evil, and comes necessarily after.
the spiritual battle between good and evil occurs in each soul eternally recurrent, and can only be fought within each soul; only in that victory can evil be truly 'defeated'.
it is evident when you reverse this: how petty and disconnected would someone sound if they insist they can destroy joy, love or goodness in the world? what would you think about their worldview?
tyranny is not only political; there is tyranny over the spirit, without which, political tyranny cannot even happen. tyranny over the spirit is when you subjugate someone so badly they forget they still have power even in dispossession, the power to embrace truth and reject lie. "they can't kill us in a way that matters", bc the love in heritage cannot be ended EVEN through atrocity. this is what i believe.
"darkness is not defeated by strength, but by light" - we're also told this in the Gospel: "and the light shines in the darkness - and the darkness has not overcome it"
what does this mean? it means that when you restrain evil and don't destroy it, you can still put a light where there was darkness- if you are able to do such a thing in yourself, you can do it in another, you can lead by example. at least, life gives the chance for someone else to do it. death is the end of possibility, for bad and also good.
when darkness becomes light, that's when evil is defeated. and that has to be done in each soul. the soul that did evil turned to goodness, like a flower that turns towards the sunlight, like embers that spark a new fire, that is the real defeat of evil. not its sterile destruction in the result of bloodlust over the flesh, the giving in to anger and hatred, the rejection of empathy and pity and compassion, which have nothing to do with whether they are "deserved" or not.
aggrandizing your role to judge that, to place yourself as the one who says who lives and dies, only belittles you to begin with. it means you're not imaginative or confident enough in the capacity you or your social reality has to rehabilitate, to change, to turn the negative into positive. but that capacity exists. humanity has proven its perseverance in progress, as it has proven its more flawed nature. and science gives us the tools- criminology, forensics, etc. we're not fumbling, these are professional issues that take expertise.
brutal societies still exist on earth, and they're not more just, but less so. just look at crime statistics, at metrics of democracy and freedom for minorities and vulnerable collectives.
so when you see the struggle against evil in interpersonal terms, you're dazzled by your own self-importance, and see everything else in the shadows. you see everyone else as this fundamental different being who cannot grow and come to be as moral as you are, when your very existance represents the reality of that chance being given.
when you see yourself as not being able to stoop down to whatever type of immorality you are essentializing, projecting on the Other as unchangeable - that's when you can make yourself believe that if you destroy that person, you will destroy evil, and so it must be good.
it won't work, and it's not. it just takes from the greater good that would come from having two lights where one was darkened.
healing the world is not your responsability. but at the very least, it is your responsibility to not make it worse where you can act. if the first way to do that is focusing on you, do that. if you don't see yourself capable of defeating evil in the world without destroying people -by conciliation, rehabilitation, deradicalization, peacemaking, reform, etc-, you have to focus on your own soul first, and mind its light.

EDIT: I have received several new pieces of information that I'm distributing throughout the doc that further reinforces my stance on this, and is valuable to know. Also, I have sections where I'm more clear on my stance after thinking on it for a while and following more discussions on this. I hope I don't disappoint anyone with my thoughts.
If any part of what I've written here resonated with you, I shamelessly ask that you spread it in your preferred manner, and if you feel there's parts that need work please let me know.
Still gonna regret writing this, I'm sure.
[Warning: Long. Like, really.]
Because of all the shit happening with Arknights, PM is under fire once again as it ties into the larger narrative surrounding Korea and its full on gender war (a real thing that's apparently happening).
For those who don't know, way back in July Limbus Company got the event for 4.5 that included swimsuit versions of Ishmael and Sinclair. The fact that Ishmael was in a full bodysuit while Sinclair was shirtless with a collar led the Korean equivalent of 4chan to accuse PM's lead illustrator of being a feminist, which I guess is a bad thing if you're drowning in Korean culture war bullshit.
Turns out the lead illustrator was a man so they pivoted to the CG artist Vellmori and invented a whole host of bullshit links between her and an extremist group to try and get her fired.
And in accordance with their wishes PM fired her. Except they didn't. Probably?
Most everything known from this point onwards is, bluntly, tainted. It's a lot of machine translated Korean posts or, one way or the other, hasty conclusions from people with agendas (including me, no one is immune to propaganda).
Did Vellmori reach out to a newspaper to whistleblow on PM's flagrant disregard for worker's rights? That was the story at first but follow-ups implied it might be a complete fabrication or an overstatement of her grievances (EDIT, I have received information that while there was a phonecall to Vellmori from PM, it was to set up a meeting to properly hash out next steps and any claims she was fired over the phone are incorrect, and the newspaper that reported as such quietly retracted that statement).
Did a labor union jump the gun on spreading this story to gain political capital without reaching out to PM for their side of the story? Maybe if PM's version of events is true, but that's assuming a lot of malice of an institution doing it's best (EDIT, I have received information that the people directly responsible for handling the PM issue acted independently and were later found in violation of several union laws, including allegations involving CP that I do not want to and will not get into).
PM's story is that once the harassment flared up and involved physical visits to the development office, Vellmori wanted to quit. (EDIT, I have received information that the wording of the various statements can be interpreted as Vellmori leaving of her own volition but also under encouragement; if you see claims that she was forced to resign this is what that claim references.) There was a rumor about her getting 2 years of severance pay, but I don't know if that was ever corroborated and is likely false, but she would have gotten something in accordance with Korean Law which they were found in compliance of.
Everything after announcing her termination of contract (not translating the initial announcement, framing it as a company policy issue, keeping quiet on it for months, constant vague threats of lawsuits) was supposedly a bad attempt at trying to quell the harassment by making it go away. Instead, it exploded, and now if you're a fan you'll have to deal with this coming up forever. I know there's fans who follow me that'll resent me for making this post as they just want to move on (or think I'm wrong or misrepresenting some details).
I resent making this for what its worth, and am trying my best to be accurate, but for me this is part of moving on, acknowledging the bad and the factors that mitigate it. And yes, I think there are several mitigating factors.
Why did Cassie Wei, lead singer of Project Mili who is both Korean and a woman, speak out in KJH's defense?
Why hasn't, to my knowledge, Vellmori said anything since and by and large just disappeared if she was so poorly mistreated?
Why have, again to my knowledge, none of the Voice Actors and Actresses spoken out against PM in solidarity?
Why do PM continue to have partnerships with progressive companies like Arc System Works?
Why did the labor union retract their statements against PM and apologize following an actual investigation?
EDIT: New info. Why did the labor union censure the people responsible for handling the PM issue, who later quit the group seemingly in disgrace?
Why did PM not bring their own lawyers to the meeting with Vellmori while she was allegedly encouraged to bring hers?
None of these questions completely absolve PM of wrongdoing, if you were set on condemning them it's not hard to interpret each in a very uncharitable way. For example, most of this is easily answered by the fact we live under Capitalism and we inevitably all have to swallow our morals and ideals to make rent. I could retort that maybe PM did the same by capitulating in any degree to harassment (which they have done historically as what happened with Ruina's ending) and not specifically endorsing any ideology or political belief (which is wild considering the actual content of their stories). But I think that ends with a circular argument that boils down to whether you believe in PM or not.
To be clear, even if you want to interpret all the Vellmori stuff as charitably as possible, PM undeniably fucked up and has labor issues in its history. The artist for the manga Leviathan, Monggeu, came out during the whole thing to speak on her treatment as a contractor; how she was given an impossible workload and the company denied her requests for delays, delays caused in part by suicidal depression caused by the workload. Though KJH personally apologized to her, she was let go over the phone and spoke out only after she felt the company now had a pattern of abusive work policies. The author of Wonderlab also deleted her stuff in solidarity.
That's all bad. Really bad. I stopped playing Limbus because I felt extreme disappointment with the company and managerial tendencies of KJH. Credit to a reddit user I won't name for pointing this out, but this information is far more concrete than anything involving Vellmori as Monggeu broke her silence independently months after things happened on her personal Twitter. However, there isn't nearly as much focus on this or calls for Justice for Monggeu.
This opinion is mine and mine alone, but her situation, which I must stress was awful and shameful on PM's and KJH's part, doesn't tie into a culture war like "Vellmori being fired for feminist tweets" does. It is a clear cut example of bad labor and managerial practices that lead to harm towards an employee, but its an everyday tragedy, not a martyrdom. And so I wonder how much the treatment of labor is actually part of this discussion, the more actionable issue than changing all of Korean society. I wonder if PM's supposed kowtowing to incels is highlighted above all other context because it casts PM as an enemy in a culture war.
I say the above because I've seen online culture war stuff happen before, and it scares me beyond just whether a company I like gets redeemed in the eyes of others. I have seen lives destroyed in the name of a just cause for nothing, including good progressive causes like feminism. If the only thing that would satisfy or lead to forgiveness is a revolutionary purge, do you actually want to build anything?
I digress, and I hope I didn't turn you off too much with my thoughts and fears there. It's important though, because there was ultimately an apology from PM.
In it, among other things, they laid out their flawed logic on how they wanted to handle the situation, addressed their treatment of both current employees and past contractors, and promised to improve and protect employees better. Since then, things seem to have changed at least from an outsiders' perspective. The game moved away from a strict list of deadlines and towards a more open-ended dev pipeline. The game is less buggy than it used to be after updates. They changed policies on content to make it easier to produce by limiting VA without any blowback from their VA's so we can assume proper talks were had. Translations don't have as many errors as they used to while the quality has been maintained even after losing a major translator (which is its own tale of baffling choices by the company in its own right). And they've kept all this up for Season 3 so far without any announcements of delays and, in fact, far more content than usual. All of this, to me, points to better management.
Maybe I'm naive to think so but I want to believe that the evidence points to the crimes of PM not coming from a place of malice and antifeminism but incompetence. I need to stress KJH didn't kill or rape anybody, nor was he verbally or physically abusive. He was a really shitty boss, and I understand how much it sucks to have a shitty boss, believe me. But a shitty boss can become not shitty, and my hope is that happened already, and that a company that produces good art that's worthwhile will thrive as a result.
I say all this because I actually care about this company and art it produces. If I didn't, last July wouldn't have hurt so much. If I'm cringe for it, so be it, but I believe constructive change should be recognized and rewarded, and it's for those reasons I came back after following the game for the rest of its second season.
To be clear, you don't owe a company your time or your money even if they improve their culture and policies, and if you felt that what PM or KJH has done is unforgivable you are well within your rights not to engage with it ever again or even tell others about your grievances, as much as I might disagree. But if you want them to suffer, to lose business, maybe even to go under despite how many other women work for and with them... I don't know. Please don't just think of these people as enemy units in the war against feminism? Ask yourself that if Vellmori broke her silence tomorrow and asserted she left of her own volition and condemned groups like the PMUA, would you believe her or immediately assume she's under duress?
This is not a cut and dry, black and white moral issue where a great evil needs vanquishing, it's a messy as hell moral and labor issue involving multiple people wrapped up in larger cultural and social issues no one initially involved intended. There are real people involved who stand to get hurt, not to mention who's been hurt already. Justice can involve other things than a firing squad. Please at least acknowledge that much. inb4 "No and kindly die"
EDIT, regarding the lawsuits. If you didn't know, PM is currently suing the labor union and a separate organization once called the PMUA (Project Moon Users Association) now called the KGA (Korean Gamer Association). I have seen unconfirmed reports that the former has ties to the disgraced Korean Ratings Board exposed by Blue Archive Fans for crypto bullshit. In addition, I have seen criticisms of how the PMUA used donations and their effectiveness in actual addressing PM and its labor issues, including demonstrations on days workers and management weren't even present and being the ones responsible for leaking documents that Vellmori allegedly wanted to be kept private. All of that supports PM's allegations that these organizations were in fact targeting them as part of political ploys and they never cared about any of the victims or ideals they touted as representing. For all the above, PM is suing for defamation, which is well within their rights by my reckoning. Regardless of my thoughts, this is where we are now.
Last and by no means least, feminism is good. Wanna be clear on that, I believe in equal pay, reproductive rights, that grip strength is a stupid metric to measure human rights by, that men are not owed sex and love by women regardless of circumstance, the whole shebang.
Also, what's happening in South Korea is scary and serious and bigger than just a terminally online culture war shitfest, more like an active bomb about to explode. I support the women who live there and their fight for equality, I just don't think PM fundamentally has anything to do with it and constantly trying to drag it into the line of fire feels like faux activism. I think the scope of the gender war is very far beyond the limits of gacha game discussion, or for that matter the actions of a single company of, like, 50 people.
(I swear to god if Vellmori makes a post tomorrow accusing KJH of SA or something after I wrote all this I will throw myself into the ocean.)
This will actually be the last time I talk about this unless something changes, I want to believe I was respectful the whole time and don't mean to belittle anyone for their beliefs or choices (unless you're an incel, please be better, also take a shower).
#project moon#limbus company#mysogyny#obviously this is a lot#sorry#was a draft i was gonna delete but this arknights thing popped off and I saw 2 posts linking Limbus even though it's tangential#guess I just want a better counternarrative to “PM is the evil antifeminist bad labor company” than “nuh uh”#because bad shit happened#i just also believe its gotten better and that many of the accusations are vindictive more than disappointed#anti-PM sentiment feels fueled by non fans getting news from other non fans sometimes

Two months prior to its release, would-be doyens of Swift’s Tortured Poets Department have taken its barbed track listing very literally, leading to intense, often nefarious speculation regarding Swift’s six-year relationship with the British actor Joe Alwyn, which seemingly ended in early 2023.
The album’s title, revealed onstage at the Grammy awards, was quickly linked to a December, 2022 interview with Alwyn and Paul Mescal in which they revealed that Andrew Scott started their group chat, the Tortured Man Club. (“It hasn’t had much use recently,” Alwyn said: you wonder if it’s undergone a recent revival.) Swift revealed the leading track list a day later: My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys, So Long, London, I Can Do It With a Broken Heart, The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, to name a few, sending fans wild with speculation.
Swift, obviously, has every right to sing about her relationships however she wants to (no apologies to Eamonn Holmes). But in the absence of any music, some fans have spread baseless, dangerous and even libellous allegations about Alwyn’s conduct (which, for obvious reasons, I can’t repeat).
Last month, a brief fan-shot video of them dining in a New Orleans restaurant in December, 2022 was recirculated online with AI-doctored audio that made it sound as though Alwyn is saying “you don’t get to tell me about sad,” a line printed on the back of one of the new album’s four physical editions.
When Swift recently told a crowd that she was “lonely” when writing her 2020 album Folklore – some of which was co-written with Alwyn during the pandemic, a lonely time for most – fans took that as further confirmation of their theories. A live medley of three songs that all appear to reference cheating threw petrol on the fire.
Swift could make this stop. She is no stranger to airing her displeasure with the likes of Ticketmaster, Scooter Braun, Spotify and Apple Music, and, occasionally, politicians. Before she released Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) last year, she gave a veiled speech at one Eras tour date effectively asking fans not to go after John Mayer, whom she dated when she was 19 and he was 32 and is understood to be the subject of that album’s Dear John.
“I am not putting this album out so you should feel the need to defend me on the internet against someone you think I wrote a song about 14m years ago when I was 19,” she said in Minneapolis.
But for whatever reason – and obviously, no member of the public has any idea what transpired between her and Alwyn so far – this time she has opted to stay quiet.
Establishing a baseline for conduct is neither commercially risky nor unprecedented: just last week, Ariana Grande said, after the release of her post-divorce album Eternal Sunshine: “Anyone that is sending hateful messages to the people in my life based on your interpretation of this album is not supporting me and is absolutely doing the polar opposite of what I would ever encourage”.
It feels like the endgame of a cat-and-mouse act that’s gone too far. Swift’s gestures towards meaning have led every single thing she does to be considered a kind of marketing, a clue to be solved. It leaves a superstar who’s usually hot on her messaging open to misinterpretation: hints about her personal life are turned by some fans into witch-hunts for anyone perceived to have wronged her; her current silence on politics allows politicians to invoke her name, from the New South Wales police commissioner quoting Swift’s anti-haters lines while defending police to Joe Biden joking that the matter of her apparently much sought-after endorsement is “classified” on Late Night With Seth Meyers.
When Swift made a blandly neutral handwritten post encouraging US citizens to register to vote on Super Tuesday, some fans speculated that her unusual left-leaning handwriting was the real indication of her loyalties – suggesting they’re so starved of substance that they’re reading into empty messages because of this dynamic she has established. (The more likely explanation is the insane way she holds a pen.)
For Swift to only direct fans as to her wishes when it suits her, it weakens her status as a truth-teller. If the comparisons with Dickinson mean anything, she might remember that nothing in the world has as much power as a word feels like the endgame of a cat-and-mouse act that’s gone too far.

also relating to people calling palestinian gfms scams... the "trusting third parties with no authority" thing from that person and people like them really gets me. bc that person on their first blog claims to be anti-fash and anti-cop. and yet... need to see some authority from people vetting fundraisers. like. yes please, tell me, white western tumblr user that claims to be a leftist, what ARE your ideas about authority? and whose authority do you deem valid, my fellow whitey? is it, perhaps, that you only view white, western "authority" as valid? that only white, western institutions have "authority"? why is this "authority" so important to you, so-called anti-fascist and anti-cop white leftist? is it, perhaps, that your ideas about what gives a person or entity "authority" is steeped in racism and western ideas of what "authority" is?
#butch speaks#can you tell i'm pissed about this?#its always been infuriating don't get me wrong. but i had some thoughts to share#anyways. this is the last thing i'm gonna say about that person.#question what you define as authority and WHO has authority and WHY they have authority#there is a kinder part of me that knows i could have been nicer about that.#i DO hope they get better. i do hope they get why that was such a cruel thing to do and say. i hope they do some self reflection#but the instant vindictive attitude? talking down to me and being shitty ON THE ASK sent to me by someone in a desperate situation? cruel.#i wish them a very therapy and get well soon#also. question who and what you see as 'authority' if you're going to dare call yourself anti-fash and anti-cop#peace and love on planet earth yall. support palestinians.

things i need to write christopher being more
-a hypocrite
-blatantly an asshole, more than usual
-uncaring about any type of murder he's done. a loved one of his was hurt, it was deserved
-more stuff with his weird science/magic stuff when he realized he can combine the two
-more of him talking of blood magic being good 'i can HEAL people with this, just like we already do, but better' he says, hysterically
#leaning more into the fact that he's such a neutral character who is one shove to being the villain#christopher/vaher is not a good man. anti hero? maybe. he's vindictive and cruel just as much as he is loving and caring#helimire is so deeply ingrained into his body and soul and way of /being/ he'll do anything to protect /the city/#there's only a select amount of people inside said city he would save#he used to be so much worse but giving him a twin changed his way a little bit which is. wild#how a character can change like that just bc of one small addition or subtraction#oc shit#also since replaying tftbl im realizing how he could be handsome jack if he wanted to#the similarities are there

The saddest thing of all time is to see someone post about anti-violence, whether it's police or homelessness or war or any number of other things that are fucked up about the modern world, and see someone in the comments say some shit like,
"So true, I acknowledge that this violence is fucked up! We should kill/harm/disable or otherwise harass this group"
And honestly
What a way to inform the world that you missed the point.

I feel like the biggest difference with Adam and fans of the show is that there’s the profans/apologists, so those that apologise for him by attempting to rationalise his behaviour, and then there’s the antis/analysts who want him as a character to apologise for what he’s done whilst acknowledging that all of his wrongdoings are, as the word implies, wrong.

Even if TSAMS Earth got certified she stile wouldn't be a good therapist
Just cause she's just simply a bad person just by extension of helping bad people be bad people
I feel like the only thing that would be able to fix her character is moon going off on her and not wanting to know her but knowing how things go they won't risk that
Moon literally has to be a complete doormat to be liked by people Nd you know whats even sadder despite Monty literally being moons first confirmed friend that's not strait up the devil he's now only helping moon cause he's simping for Earth now
Which makes me hate her even more

There has been so much push, especially in supposed leftist spaces, to liken radical feminism/feminists to incels/inceldom. And it actually makes me want to bash my head into a wall. I don’t know if you guys are aware but there was a mass shooting at a high school yesterday. And the perpetrator was a girl. And conservatives were instantly trying to leech onto her being apart of whatever group. Trans, lesbian, communist etc. she is a biological heterosexual female. A biological heterosexual female that was entrenched in alt right fascism who formed an entire identity around it. And her digital footprint shows that. Yet there’s “leftists” that are parading around a fake excerpt from her manifesto (shared by an anti feminist incel mind you) claiming she was a radfem man hater who wanted to exterminate men and have women rule the world. And also wanted to exterminate women who worshipped men. Meanwhile this is her
Because nothing says man hating radfem like reposting memes about an incel who targeted women in a mass shooting. And stanning male mass shooters. Everything about this girl indicates the real life consequences of these alt right cesspools that are being formed all across the internet infecting children with these ideologies. She literally posted a picture of herself holding a white power symbol in the bathroom right before committing the shooting. There’s so much conversation to be had about white supremacy and fascism. And how it’s dominating online spaces and indoctrinating young people who are living their lives in these echo chambers and becoming violent, apathetic individuals. But do leftists wanna talk about this?? Noooo they’d rather disparage radical feminism and grasp at straws to make this some male equivalent to incel related shootings.
I’m linking a report that was done on incel forums to really show you how ridiculous it is when these people try so desperately to associate radical feminism with inceldom. Or try to claim that redfems are “femcels” because what’s anti feminist rhetoric if not insinuating feminists are so angry at men because they need some dick 🤩
This was a very informative look into the incel community and their activities online. The things they say, promote, and enable. And yet so many people have the gall to in any way shape or form liken radfems or women who hate men to them. It actually makes me want to pull my hair out
Like you really think this, and the community that it’s amassed, is in any way comparable to women hating men as a response to men hating and oppressing women including from these very same men… That actually it’s because these women are ugly and can’t get a men and now they’re vindictive toward men (anti feminism rhetoric as old as time). Or even that it’s not really that they’re not like incels in the sense that they can’t get relationships/sex, but exhibit behavior anywhere near this depravity. Very unserious.

Friendly reminder that Tom Riddle didn’t create Voldemort. Dumbledore created Voldemort.
Tom was raised in a Religious Orphanage in the 30s and 40s. He was not treated nicely by anyone. Of course he would be vindictive and hate Non-Magicals.
Dumbledore on the other hand decided that an eleven-year-old was the anti-Christ and treated him like he was already a mass-murderer.
Tom was in the Orphanage in London when the bombs fell. Of course he would be terrified of dying. He was abandoned by his only living relatives. Of course he’d wish them dead.
Dumbledore looked at a child and saw a demon. If he had seen a child, Voldemort would never have existed.
Give me arguments if you disagree.

I don't mean to harp on Maia's status as well-known individual outside of this shitty website or somehow imply that other trans women are somehow more deserving of victimhood from this callout BS if they haven't hacked the US government, but being so wrapped up in your petty vindictive callout post campaign against the shadowy cabal of racist pedo trans women Homestuck posters you're willing to bring in someone who is literally being prosecuted by the US for her anti-racist/anti-imperialist work (while being apparently unaware of that fact??) is whole new levels of out of touch fandom-brained callout-posting fuckhattery. Go the fuck outside. Join a protest. Give money to someone who needs to get out of Gaza. Literally do anything else.

The 100 ended four years ago so I think I can confidently say that i'm forever going to be stuck between the denial phase and the anger phase. No accepting or moving on for me.
I mean for the most part I just pretend that season 7 never happened, like I block it out of my mind. But when I do remember it happened, I just get incredibly angry. And I know it's not healthy to still be this upset over a fictional show that ended in 2020, but I can't help it.
I think about how Bellamy was character assassinated and then killed off in the most brutal and stupid way possible, shot by CLARKE of all people, over a damn BOOK, that she didn't even take!!! I think about how he died all alone, without a chance of saying goodbye to any of his friends or his SISTER!!! I mean think about how crazy that is, Finn died but got to say goodbye to Clarke, Lexa died but got to say goodbye to Clarke not once but twice, Lincoln died but got to say goodbye to Octavia, Jasper died but got to say goodbye to Monty, Kane died but got to say goodbye to Abby and Indra, and Bellamy??? The male lead of the show Bellamy??? He dies and he doesn't even get to say goodbye to OCTAVIA??? The Blakes don't even get a proper final scene together??? And I get angry.
I think about how Clarke, the main lead of the show, was cast aside for half the season and then also character assassinated, turned into a selfish vindictive cold-blooded person who never learns from her mistakes and suddenly doesn't care about being the good guy or doing the right thing... even though the entire point of her character arc was that she was fundamentally a good person, selfless, altruistic and empathetic, who was forced into impossible moral dilemmas. But she never stopped caring!!! Making these impossible choices never got easier for her!!! Because she was good!!! But suddenly in season 7 she was turned into everything that Clarke antis accused her of being. And what's Jason's excuse for this? "Oh, well, if you think about it she was never the hero... she was doing awful things early on in the show, just against people we didn't care about like Mount Weather... In season 7 we put the audience in Mount Weather's shoes"... excuse me???? As if Clarke didn't try literally everything in her power to get her people back, without having to harm/kill the people in Mount Weather??? As if Clarke didn't decide to pull the lever only when she saw her own mother and her friends being strapped to a table to be tortured and killed for their bone marrow??? As if Clarke didn't feel distraught over what she had to do, to the point that she felt like she had to leave her people and be on her own in the woods for months??? As if she didn't have nightmares??? As if she didn't feel guilt and regret over Mount Weather and Maya up to freaking season 6??? And I get angry.
I think about how Bellarke, whether romantic, platonic or something in between, was the MAIN relationship of the show, with the most development and screen time. And that relationship was absolutely destroyed in the most contrived, spiteful way possible!!!! Jason had to character assassinate both Bellamy and Clarke to make it happen. That's how resentful of Bellarke and Bellarke shippers he was. Even though he was the freaking show runner!!! He had the power of writing Bellarke platonically from day one!!! But Bob and Eliza confirmed that they were told that Bellarke was romantic in nature, and that's how they performed it!!! Jason was the one who wrote 2x16 and 4x13, arguably two of the most important episodes for Bellarke... he came up with together!!! He took the head and the heart from the fans and put it in the show!!! He wrote Clarke calling Bellamy every day for 2,199 days!!! No one forced him to do that!!! But he did, and for what??? For Clarke to shoot Bellamy in the end and kill him??? Even if he didn't want to make them canon for whatever reason, he could've still written an ending that was respectful of their friendship and history in the show. But no!!! He had to destroy everything that made Bellarke what it was. And I get angry.
I think about how Octavia spent YEARS trying to get back to Bellamy, to see him again and tell him how much she loves him... And then in the second half of season 7, she just gives up on him??? She doesn't even TRY to understand what happened to him on Etherea, she doesn't talk to him, when Bellamy visits her and Clarke she just stands there with a disappointed face and doesn't say a word. And then when Clarke tells her that she killed Bellamy, she just hugs her and tells her that she understands??? And so would the old Bellamy???? The 'old Bellamy' she didn't even TRY to get back, the 'old Bellamy' she simply gave up on??? Literally every character from Octavia to Clarke to Raven to Murphy to Miller to Echo, had to be character assassinated so that Bellamy could die the way he did. Because none of them would've given up on him!!! They all loved Bellamy!!! He was the 'dad' of the deliquents and then the leader of Skaikru on the ring. But suddenly nobody cares about him, nobody tries to understand what happened to him or tries to change his mind, not even his SISTER!!! AND I GET ANGRY.
I think about how the message of season 3 was that 'pain means that you're alive' and 'you don't ease pain, you overcome it', and how it is better to live in an imperfect world than a perfect simulation. And then in season 7 there's Transcendence which is basically the City of Light 2.0, an immortal hive mind where there's no pain and no death. Just "peace" for eternity. But suddenly THIS hive mind is okay... because? Because the Judge and the other aliens (putting aside how ridiculous it is to introduce ALIENS in your show in the very last episode) are fair while A.L.I.E wasn't? There's nothing 'fair' about deciding which species is worthy of Transcendence and which isn't. Especially since the punishment for not passing the test is MASS GENOCIDE. And yet the Judge is portrayed as 'good' and 'fair' while A.L.I.E. was the one actually trying to ensure the survival of the human race!!! And don't get me wrong, A.L.I.E. was evil but in her methods, her motivs were actually morally sound compared to the Judge and the rest of the aliens. They only did what they did because they believed that they were morally superior to all other species, and if one species wasn't 'good' enough according to their moral standards, that meant that they deserved extinction!!!! "But at least with Transcendence you can choose whether you want to transcend or not, A.L.I.E. didn't give you a choice" bullshit!!! If you "choose" not to transcend, the aliens still take away your chance to procreate and have kids from you!!! They make you infirtile against your will!!! Your species still dies with you and your friends!!!! Why? Because some aliens said so!!! And that's supposed to be an happy ending??? Just because all the characters are smiling and hugging, it doesn't make this ending any less horrific once you think about it for like two seconds. And I get angry.
And finally I think about how the entire message of the show was NOT survival like Jason claims, but how 'life should be more than just surviving'. How 'life can be more than impossible choices and a tragic end'. How humans can 'be the good guys' and break the cycle of war and violence and tribalism. And in the end none of that mattered. Humans kept fighting each other up until the last episode and only stopped because they were being 'tested'. They got absorbed into a hive mind and they're going to be stuck there for all eternity, no lesson learned, no real peace gained. Our main characters, that we've followed for seven seasons, are going to eventually die, leaving nothing or no one behind. All the sacrifices, all the impossible choices they've made... completely meaningless, since the 'survival' of the human race was never up to them building a better world and society after all, it was always up to the morally superior aliens. I think about how they got to survive, but they didn't get to live. And I get angry... because I really loved this show and these characters so much... and they just... they deserved better. They really did.

Even if you think the USSR was the evil empire—the Bush administration at the time certainly did—its collapse was bad. There is a reason Bush and Mitterand begged the Lithuanians to chill the fuck out (even said to Moscow, basically, if you have to send in the tanks, we understand). Bush asked the IMF to bail Gorbachev out, and his officials (even the most ardent anti-Soviet ones) were enthusiastic about cooperating with rather than punishing the Soviets. It’s bad when a huge economy breaks down; it’s worse when a nuclear power breaks down. There was real potential for Russian Civil War 2: This Time With Nukes. Unless you’re vindictive and think the Soviet people are ontologically evil, it’s also a huge humanitarian problem when states collapse.
And it was a huge missed opportunity; Gorbachev was looking basically to a future where a democratized and liberalized USSR could have been a close ally of the US, and a major part of international institutions and the Coalition of the Status Quo. This would have been vastly preferable to the world we now find ourselves in, where Russia is a revisionist middle power—still with nukes!—led by nationalists and fascists who hope to use force to intimidate and dominate neighboring states.
Nationalist movements in 89-91 were, IMO, largely shortsighted, were led in many cases by power hungry populists and authoritarian ex-communist elites, and did not by and large have some greater sense of the national good in mind. The Baltics did have comparatively good outcomes and may stand out as being on the most positive side of the whole spectrum of outcomes—but this spectrum also includes, like, Belarus and Azerbaijan. And, y know. Russia.
