“Rhys wasn’t raped”

Rape is both emotional and physical abuse and anything that is not 100% consent is rape. Being forced to have sex with someone out of fear is rape. Being forced to have sex with someone for “benefits” such as going outside is rape. Being forced to have sex with someone to prove your loyalty to them is rape.
If you’re put in any sexual situation where you are forced to do things and not because you genuinely want to, that is rape. Rhys did not 100% consent to his “relationship” (if you could even call it that) with Amarantha. He literally talks about how he was suicidal for a while because of what was happening to him Under The Mountain but it was all consensual? He was just a sex worker?
Two of the most ridiculous points this person makes is one, saying rape isn’t emotional abuse. And two, insinuating that being a “sex worker” made everything that happened to Rhys completely fine.
Sex workers are taken advantage of all the time. That’s one of the most dangerous parts of it. Being a sex worker does not always equal to consenting to everything you do. It’s not this glamorous job where you’re just consenting to everything and having sex for the fun of it. Therefore slapping the term “sex worker” onto Rhys as a way to invalidate his decades of sexual abuse is nothing short of demented.
And rape is most definitely emotions abuse. A lot of the time rape is used to control someone as seen with Amarantha and Rhys. She wanted to punish him because his father killed her friend and she wanted to prove his loyalty to her. It was literally about breaking him down and that’s why he still has trauma from it. You can’t look at the mental scars Rhys has because of Amarantha and boldly claim that wasn’t rape. You can’t read him clearly saying “she made me fuck her” and boldly claim that it wasn’t rape.
This person is not a child so there’s no valid excuse for this mentality. It’s just blatant vile ignorance and a nasty soul.

Do you know what’s really painful and sad?
When Tamlin comes to the HL meeting and he starts slut-shaming Feyre in front of everybody and she doesn’t say anything because she doesn’t care about what others say. She lets him run his mouth and he doesn’t stop until Rhysand momentarily takes away his ability to speak.
Here, Feyre is the one who shouldn’t have provoked him because she knows how he is. Not the other way around. Not that Tamlin should control his anger issues and stop acting like a child throwing a tantrum because Feyre didn’t choose him (that’s a whole 500+ years old male too). No, Feyre shouldn’t have provoked poor Tamlin, who can’t help but slut-shame the “love of his life” and belittle her in front of everyone present. The fact that some of you call him “iconic” for that too…
But the moment Feyre loses control because a domestic abuser is shit-talking her mate in front of her… Now she’s inexperienced, she should’ve controlled herself, she’s not ready to be a High Lady in charge of a whole court, she’s not educated enough, she’s acting like a child, she hurt LoA on purpose and on and on and on…
Some people in this fandom have a funny way of saying they’re a bunch of misogynistic pos who would go to great lengths to prove the innocence of their “misunderstood” male character and doing so very proudly… News flash: it’s not the flex you think it is.
P.S. if you’re going to say that Tamlin has a right for acting like that because Feyre “destroyed his court” I’ll need you to stop typing, take a deep breath and go read the first three books again because he did that to his court himself.

“feyre’s an unreliable narrator because she says things that are blatantly untrue!!” and all of their examples are things they personally disagree with.
Yes Feyre’s narration is influenced by her personal opinion and perspective but acting like she’s lied about things is genuinely weird. You might disagree with her opinion on another characters behavior but that doesn’t make her a liar.

Even if you genuinely think tamlin is perfect and support him, I think you should be able to do it without mentioning feyre or trying to change the events to fit a narrative. Cause no matter what, he kidnapped and abused her. And if you want to explain his actions to gain sympathy for him, you have to first acknowledge and be truthful about what he did. Why even bring up his tramua if you can’t even say he was wrong? While trying to say it was Feyres fault and blaming the victim.
Love him all you want, it’s fictional, and Sarah hates him and repeatedly calls him an abuser so it don’t matter. But trying to make a 19-year-old human feyre somehow the villain doesn’t help and always sounds stupid and the reason the fandom still overwhelmingly hates him. Try explaining his action and why he deserves empathy without implicating a woman and spewing other misogynistic ideologies

Feyre: if you take me from my mate, I’ll destroy your court and everything you hold dear
Tamlin: takes Feyre from her mate

Schrödinger’s Feyre: Where Feyre is simultaneously a cunning and badass girlboss with a mind of steel and a fragile little lamb who doesn’t know any better. When they’re proud, she’s a skilled strategist and competent High Lady, but when it comes to facing the consequences of her actions and the implications of her power, suddenly she’s a little baby waddling through fairy land.

“Feylin’s relationship failed because Feyre doesn’t know how to communicate”
Feylin’s relationship failed because Tamlin is aggressive, controlling, and almost killed his fiancé when she tried to communicate her feelings to him.

Tamlin lunged for me over the few feet that remained. So fast—too fast—
I became mist and shadow.
I winnowed beyond his reach. The king let out a low laugh as Tamlin stumbled.
And went sprawling as Rhysand’s fist connected with his face.
....
Teamwork at it's finest 👌

With Rhys, she had a choice to be whoever she wanted to be and have his full support in whatever that may be.
With Tamlin, she was forced into his ideal image of how his wife should be, while completely neglecting her needs and wants in life!!!!
feyre w Tamlin: i don’t wanna be JUST a house wife. i want to be useful. I want to help. I want to fight. I want to train. I want to help our villages. I want to be involved in the meetings. I want to build relationships with our people.
Feyre w Rhys: Is high lady as well as his wife, did a small intimate wedding like she wanted. Is useful other than sitting beside a throne. Helps w planning for war. Fights against Hyberns attack in Velaris. Trains w Cassian almost everyday. Sits with Rhys and listens to their townspeople’s complains and find solutions. Is right there leading meeting with Rhysand and the IC. Opens a shop to help teach children to paint- connecting with them and their parents. Creating friends with the towns people. Connecting with the Widowed Shop Lady having a meaningful conversation with her. Having conversations with the townspeople as she walks through Velaris.
Fans after seeing Feyre attend parties and wear dresses w Rhys: oh well look what we have here she’s playing dress up blah blah blah

Honestly whichever Elain week admin decided to create and enforce a rule excluding content featuring disgusting abusers from the series is a saint and I love them. The people who’re mad are just going to have to get over it, these people have relished in making everyone else uncomfortable and miserable for years now. Constantly inserting their backwards perception of the series into positive discussions about literally every single other character.
News flash: the general fandom is exhausted by you. They don’t want to engage with you. They don’t want to see your content. Elain week is going to continue on successful without your abusive awful favs being involved.

Love him or hate him at least Tamlin apologized, admitted what he did wrong, and tried to change for the better. His actions were to save his people and the one he loved. Tamlin also didn’t need to save Rhysand and Feyre but he did because despite everything they did he wanted her to be happy.
Tamlin is many things but a villain isn’t one of them.

Feyre: Rhysand is my mate and I'm telling you this to your face.
Also Feyre: If you try and break my mating bond, I'm going to ruin your life.
Also Feyre: If you drag me back to Spring against my will, I'll destroy everything you love.
Tamlin: Break her mating bond so I can drag her back to Spring and we can start over.
Also Tamlin: I can't believe you destroyed everything I love and ruined my life!
