rant incoming!
sandor: you’ve changed, little bird. none if it would’ve happened if you’d left king’s landing with me. no little finger, no ramsay, none of it.
sansa: without little finger and ramsay and the rest, i would’ve stayed a little bird all my life.
let’s not forget the hound had just before this brought up her violent rape as if mocking her or rubbing it in her face. with no verbal rebuttal from her about that. it left such a sour taste in my mouth when i watched it
it’s as if he’s mad at her for not having responded to his lust for her with love and trust when she was a CHILD being held hostage by her family’s enemy who had killed her father and brother, and as if he hadn’t been serving said family the whole time
out of the many things i didn't like about how the writers ruined the last season, this one stands out the most- being one that still boggles my mind (including a sansa gif because i need to see my beautiful girl and calm down)
Tumblr media
them making sansa casually dismiss her horrific past and basically absolving her abusers by saying that. and it's so tiring because sansa h@ters will always bring up how she was an outsider to the starks because she "betrayed" her family and also "sucks because she's not a tomboy like arya or has dragons like d@nny" BUt the moment you bring up the fact that she was also a literal child, held hostage and abused for years, that all the men in her life were abusers, even the "kinder" ones because they wanted something from her, they first of all dismiss all that by denying that their fav male characters (tyrion, sandor) are not pr3dators and secondly, saying her abuse is in the past and doesn't matter anyway because she said herself that "without ... and all the rest, [she] would have remained a little bird all [her] life"
it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Sometimes I think about parallels and story beats in ASOIAF and it makes me want to pull my hear
A princess stuck in the tower where a clegane breaks into. One doesn't survive and the other survives by the skin of her teeth.
One clegane is pushed to remember his humanity and it makes him ashamed of what he was planning on doing. The other has no qualms or hesitation.
Sansa being haunted by Lyanna and Elia. Barely escaping their fate. Because there's no brother coming to take her home, no brother dying to avenge her.
So she becomes her own Brother in a way to go back home.

This is how Sansa reacts when a man she's known all her life is murdered by the family of her beloved Prince Joffrey?
Alyn carried the Stark banner. When she saw him rein in beside Lord Beric to exchange words, it made Sansa feel ever so proud. Alyn was handsomer than Jory had been; he was going to be a knight one day.
To talk about how the guy replacing him is better looking? That's so completely heartless, it's disgusting.
And this is how Sansa reacts when Arya wanted justice brought to Mycah's murderer?
"It's not the same," Sansa said. "The Hound is Jeffrey's sworn shield. Your butcher's boy attacked the prince."
She can't even call him "Mycah" or "your friend". No, no. He's a commoner, and thus in her eyes he's not deserving of any humanity or kindness, so thus he is just the "butcher's boy". It's not even that. It's the fact that Sansa wants everyone to mourn the loss of Lady, her direwolf, but she can't even extend that same courtesy to Jory or Mycah's deaths. They're too far beneath her in status for her to care. She even knows Arya is mourning Mycah's loss, that Arya blames herself (though, it's not her fault), but Sansa just throws his death around like it doesn't mean anything because who could care about a commoner?
Not including the fact that Joffrey lied about the incident, Sansa lied, and now Sansa believes the lie that Mycah attacked her beloved prince. She saw the truth with her own eyes, and chooses to ignore it because blaming Arya is more important to her than the truth. And she could never hate her beloved prince, he's too handsome for that 🤮
She's lucky all Arya threw at her was an orange.

I know I want Sansa to go feral (as is her right at this point holy shit) but I’m not sure that would fulfill the point of her character. I can’t really imagine a world where Sansa’s kindness and amazing ability to forgive those who wronged her doesn’t win out (even begrudgingly so). Like there’s a reason she has so much connection to the Mother.
Gentle Mother, Font of Mercy
Soothe the wrath and tame the fury, teach us all a kinder way
Basically, I just want Cersei, the Hound, and Littlefinger to be wrong.

Aemond and Criston meet with the madame at the brothel (Script's Version) : r/HouseOfTheDragon (reddit.com) I'm legit confused now. So, in season one, Aemond is clearly repulsed by the Madam, but in season 2, she's his comfort person?
I think if this is true, it completely changes Aemond as a character and makes him a different person. This is no longer Aemond s1
This is complete bullshit. I hope this is still fake. If he cries over Luke's death, I'll f*ck this show. Aemond should remember how they pulled his eyeball out of his skull and that Rhaenyra wanted to torture him.
Sandor did not forgive his brother and wanted him d*ad, although his eyes were intact and there was a burn on his face.
Aemond decided to go to a whore to get some comfort...what the hell 🤡🥴
It looks like Aemond can't take responsibility for what he did, even if it was mansl*ughter. Recognize that there was a reason for hatred and revenge for all the years of living with one eye and the accompanying physical and mental suffering.
I just hope it won't be that bad when I watch s2 in full.
I'm just against everyone TB and TG who support this sh*t
He was 13 and she was 30!!!🤮🤡
He was a kid...😢😭
It's worth thanking Aegon for being "a good brother"☠

Just noticed that Rhaegar had knighted Gregor Clegane and Joffery appointed Sandor in his Kingsguard. Gregor later raped and killed Elia and Sandor harrassed and probably going to rape her.
Amid a fierce battle that their hostile hostage taker "in laws" seem to be losing, a creepy knight associated with their husband/betrothed appears in a princess's bedchamber with ill intentions.
I wonder if this is something that may have featured in the "original outline" Sansa's fate, since her role was much closer to the one Elia ended up playing.
As it is, once again the lady in a song escaped a horrific fate. The way GRRM transformed her storyline in particular is amusing. He really couldn't let the romantic bookworm crumble into dust. She perseveres. She begins to take control of her fate. She's destined for good things.

"Men would say she had my look."
There's something about the way Sansa looks like Catelyn, an accident of birth that she isn't rewarded for.
Firstly, it's a source of Arya's resentment towards her. Arya already resents her older sister for being "perfect" without having to try whereas Sansa resents Arya for not trying enough in her eyes. Both are wrong. But anyway, to Arya it's bad enough that Sansa is already ahead, does she have to look like Catelyn too?
It's the cause of Littlefinger's obsession with her. He has her framed for murder because he doesn't want Cat's daughter to rely on anyone else but him. He is a grown man contenting himself with forcing kisses on a thirteen-year-old girl because he knows he can't force himself into her bed yet. He is going to die.
Lysa, who could have taken a chance to make amends after realizing- "My god, what have I done", when she learns that the sister, she tricked into going to war with the Lannisters is now dead after she and Robb- the nephew Lysa held when he was hours old at Riverrun- was butchered at a wedding by them. She could have chosen to see Sansa as a way of honoring Catelyn's memory. Instead, all she sees is how much Sansa looks like Catelyn. Too much. And it's not because Sansa is wanted for murder. No, in the end it turns out Lysa is more bothered by the fact that Sansa is the spitting image of the woman who Lysa thinks tried to steal Petyr away. And she tries to murder her traumatized niece. She dies because of it.
Sansa is beautiful because she looks like Catelyn, in the same Arya will develop Lyanna's wild beauty because she looks like her lost aunt. But Sansa being beautiful is literally the reason why Tyrion wasn't forced into marrying her. He had a choice, and he chose Sansa because she's beautiful. She's forced to marry her enemy because he was literally attracted to her and decided he'd rather have the beautiful child instead of the plain, older woman. As much as Joffrey hates Sansa, the text shows him lusting after her because of her looks. He assaults her and would have graduated to rape if he survived his wedding and Sansa never escaped Kingslanding. Let's not forget the awful way the Hound treats her.
So yeah, with all this background/context I'm just going to find it really cathartic when Sansa is reunited with people who will find it bittersweet seeing Sansa because of how much she looks like their lost mother/sister/niece. You can't tell me Arya and Bran won't get emotional at seeing how much Sansa looks like the mother they miss, in the same way, Sansa won't get emotional over how much Arya looks like the father they miss?
I also love it because with the whole "how will Sansa prove her identity without Lady"- um BECAUSE of Catelyn. She is the spitting image of Catelyn Tully, wife of Ned Stark. Lady of Winterfell for 15 years. The Northern lords damn well knew she was.
I love it because in the end Sansa looking like Catelyn is going to work in her favor. The very thing that this fandom has bizarrely used as one of their pieces of "evidence" to argue is that she isn't really a Stark (even though in the books none of Cat and Ned's kids look like Ned except Arya) because she has Tully looks... will be the very thing to validate her Stark identity.

I've seen a lot of shippers argue that Sansa should end with the Hound because she's a privileged pretty princess and needs to fuck an ugly lowborn pedophile to unlearn classism 🙄 Ignoring the fact they're treating wokeness like a STD, I find it pretty interesting that I never saw them use this argument to justify why Sansa should end with Podrick, who is around her age, is as lowborn as Sandor and never tried to rape her at knifepoint 🙄

She hated the way he talked, always so harsh and angry. "Does it give you joy to scare people?"
- Sansa IV, ACoK
I'm sorry, but what? Sansa hates how Sandor is always so harsh and angry?
Let's give a brief recap of just one of Sansa's interactions with Arya, shall we?
It was running down her nose and stinging her eyes. Sansa wiped it away with a napkin. When she saw what the fruit in her lap had done to her beautiful ivory silk dress, she shrieked again. "They should have killed you instead of Lady!"
Sansa threw her head back in disdain. "You?" You couldn't sew a dress fit to clean the pigsties."
"It won't be so bad, Sansa," Arya said. "We're going to sail on a galley. It will be an adventure, and then we'll be with Bran and Robb again, and Old Nan and Hodor and the rest." She touched her on the arm.
"Hodor!" Sansa yelled. "You ought to marry Hodor, you're just like him, stupid, and hairy and ugly!" She wrenched away from her sister's hand, stormed into her bedchamber, and barred the door behind her.
And this brief moment between the sisters doesn't even compare to the years of Sansa calling Arya ugly and stupid, being ashamed of her appearance, wishing she was a bastard like Jon, wishing Sansa could have someone else as her sister, and looking down on Arya's friends because they're commoners.

not sure how to ask this but have you considered san(sandor)san(sans undertale)? I don’t know why this ship is getting so much hatred? sans is juggling multiple jobs and if pegging sandor gives him happiness, then I’m happy for him.
I haven’t been that much into shipping, so I couldn’t tell you directly. If I had to guess, despite being “morally gray” (if you’re okay with child murder, which it doesn’t seem Sans is based on his interactions with the player character) characters with a sarcastic streak, even within the shipping community (itself mocked by the wider fandom; the shipping aspect of Undertale has been mocked by critics, and of course in ASOIAF some Great Fandom Minds(TM) have told readers to “come to their senses” regarded shipping) crossover ships are seen as missing the point of the intellectual exercise of shipping (how two characters from the same setting would interact in a romantic context) and by default have fewer fans than non crossover ships. The overlap between ASOIAF/GOT fans are necessarily smaller with the fantasy video game Undertale than, say, LOTR. There’s also the fact that Sans is a hoodie wearing skeleton with 1 eye (1 eyed characters are often negative in ASOIAF), and Sandor is a human man (humans being the enemies of the Undertale monsters) with one good leg, so people might not think Sans can be happy with him.
But if I’m not mistaken, the pairing you’re referring to would be SanSans, which is a little different than Sànsàn (an honest mistake; I had to correct a person that the appropriate ship name for Sandor/Salladhor Saan would be SanSaan). Judging by the ASOIAF names and ship naming conventions, as well as opportunity to interact for years on roughly equal footing, I’m guessing the ship that has people concerned is Sandor Clegane/Aron Santagar. Considering they’re both around the same age (as mature adult men) and spent plenty of time with each other (Clegane as Joffrey’s sworn shield and Santagar as the Red keep’s master of arms), are sort of outsiders (Sandor refuses to be a knight and deserts the Lannisters pretty quickly, and Aron is one of the few Dornishmen at court and is notably gloomy once Joffrey takes the throne), and have common interests in fighting, it makes sense; and after Clegane emotionally recounts Aron’s death and trying to save his life: “Four men held him down and took turns bashing at his head with a cobblestone. I gutted one, not that it did Ser Aron much good.” (ACOK Tyrion IX) I can see why the “doomed pairing” shippers would be invested (considering the high death count in ASOIAF, pairings where one/both characters are dead are more accepted than in other fandoms). On the other hand, Clegane doesn’t like knights and their finery, whereas Santagar is considered a “vain man but an honest one” implying he does take knighthood trappings seriously; there’s also Clegane hacking a child to death to the point of Mycah being unrecognizable, which obviously parallels Gregor Clegane’s murder of Aegon, son of Elia of Dorne (Santagar’s countrywoman). If I had to guess, it’s the child murder people have an issue with.
