okay but the dean winchester of it all about Stiles like both were left with the household responsibilities by absent (and likely drunk) fathers and neither of them have felt like kids for the longest time after the deaths of their mothers
trying to focus on stiles here because of the conversations about the BH parents currently in the tags today but the sheriff may love Stiles but he definitely left Stiles to parent himself
he tries the whole “I’m the father/you’re the son” but Stiles hasn’t seen it like that since Claudia died likely shifting when she first started getting sick and Stiles had to take care of her and himself because the sheriff was either working or drinking, and like dean Stiles probably had to care for his dad when he was drunk too and if Stiles’ anxieties are anything to go by then the sheriff wasn’t taking care of himself let alone a sick Claudia and young Stiles—that kind of anxiety doesn’t just stem from nowhere and I think it’s definitely in part to Stiles not being able to lose anyone else but also because he’s seen that the sheriff couldn’t be trusted to take care of himself
(this likely changed when he quit drinking but Stiles’ anxiety is still high so I don’t think that it actually changed all that much, and I think that stiles drives is part of all this bc yeah every kid wants to drive but I definitely think it was also bc it was a necessity he had no one to drive him places and needed to be able to go grocery shopping etc bc at least for Scott Melissa did do that much)
and I could talk forever how this can play into (nonsexual don’t fucking start) emotional incest with Stiles caring/monitoring the sheriff the way a partner would similarly to dean being compared to Mary so much and how both get judged for this by the fathers, like you’re the kid why aren’t you acting like a /normal/ kid but who else was there to care for them and keep the family going? Who else was there to take care of the fathers, who had proven they wouldn’t do it themselves, if not the kids? It’s kids parenting their parents while trying to raise themselves
and going off the Stiles caring like a partner would is definitely on the sheriff for not reinforcing boundaries, something that’s definitely impacted Stiles since (especially in the first seasons) we see him lack boundaries with his obsession with Lydia and with his and Scott’s broship (which are whole other posts god) but also with coach and the illegal shit he gets up to
Stiles has never had someone there pulling him back from too far and too much which is why I definitely think stiles raised himself, he has his own specific morals (he’s actually pretty violently inclined sometimes, especially for those he loves) plus the lack of faith in any higher authority that stems from being left/neglected from the authority that was supposed to care for you and protect you, because the sheriff did leave Stiles with Claudia a lot even after she had attacked Stiles in her state, because whether Stiles ever actually processed that or not it would’ve felt like a betrayal—that the sheriffs job was more important than stiles’ safety, and Stiles lying to the sheriff about everything regarding the supernatural totally lends to Stiles not trusting the sheriff to believe him (which happens) or trusting that a higher authority (the cops/adults in BH) to actually do anything about it and also lends to Stiles still being the protector/carer in their relationship
I could go on and on with more examples but I’ve already rewritten this like five times trying to word it for the last hour and I’m still not happy with it but I love digging into these complicated familial relationships and talk about Stiles (and dean) forever

I do like complaining about t*en w*lf, it’s a hobby honestly. I’ve been thinking a lot about the parents lately, so I decided to give my brutally honest opinions about each of them. In case you don’t want to read all of my opinions, TLDR I don’t like most of the parents.
If you do want to hear my reasonings, I’ll put it under the cut because there is a lot of negativity.
These are my opinions and I’m explaining why I feel the way I do. You are by no means obligated to agree with me, and I’m not saying your opinions are wrong, all I ask is you are respectful.
This is my interpretation of the characters and their actions (as parents, not every single decision they’ve ever made). My interpretation may be influenced by my own experiences. If you disagree, I welcome you make your own post. If you really hate what I have to say, block me.
I do try to look at good and bad parenting decisions from each parent, but depending on what the act itself is, some hold more weight than others, as well as the number of good vs bad.
Let’s start with the dads
Noah Stilinski
Good
Said he would burn the sheriff’s station to the ground to protect Stiles
Was frantically looking for him when he went missing (on multiple occasions)
Pointed a gun at Chris when he thought he was going to shoot “Stiles”
Tried to help him get out of the train station
Stopped drinking (this is twofold, it was good for Stiles and for himself)
Bad
In regards to the first point, he followed it up with ‘a good way to forgive yourself is to forgive someone else.’ He made it all about Scott. I know he wasn’t aware of what Scott said, but Scott doesn’t need to be forgiven
“I don’t want to feel worse by yelling at my son” this sounds to me like he blames Stiles for getting fired. He shouldn’t have been fired, but he also shouldn’t be blaming Stiles
Stiles comes to him with XYZ and Noah doesn’t believe him. Scott comes to him with XYZ and he believes him. Not cool to believe someone else over your own kid, especially when they said the same thing. This happens multiple times
Edit to add: He basically calls Stiles a liar and never apologizes for it
Noah agreed to let Stiles to go Eichen. Even if he tried to back out later, he still let him go through with it
This one seems more minor, but not telling your kid who you’re going on a date with. Kinda awkward that it’s his crush’s mom
He leaves Stiles with Claudia. He thinks his job is more important than to support his son and his dying wife. He also did this knowing that Claudia assaulted Stiles. That’s not a great way to say you care about your kid (Noah, not Claudia, her too though)
“Thank you, son I should have had.” This is not funny. I don’t give a fuck what Stiles said before this. That’s not funny. You don’t joke about wanting someone else to be your kid. My dad made it very obvious he loved my step-brothers more than me and that shit is painful. (Additionally I’m sick of seeing “if you think that’s bad parenting, you had good parents.” I think that’s bad parenting and I had a shitty parent. There are real people in real life whose parents don’t like them and wish to trade them for a different kid. I think this is one of the most hurtful things spoken in the show)
He doesn’t know where Stiles is (in "Fury”) when the gun goes off and he calls out for Scott first. Before Stiles. He cares more about Scott’s than Stiles’s well-being. Even if he did know where Stiles was, you call out for your kid first to make sure they’re okay
Yelling “I’m the dad, you’re the son!” Obviously Stiles does not feel like a child in this relationship. He’s too busy being an adult
Additional note: I have no problem with Noah acting like a father figure to those who don’t have dads or good dads, but he should really focus on being a good dad to his own kid first. So far he’s not doing a bang up job.
Chris Argent
Good
Allowed her to take mental health days come season 3
Bad
Told Allison she was responsible for the deaths of everyone if she didn’t tell him who the kanima was. Even if that was true, saying that to your kid’s face and showing them a corpse killed by the kanima is not a good move
Kidnapped his daughter, probably traumatizing her, and implied he would be forced to kill her if she were to change into a werewolf (the last part screams conditional love. And don’t come at me with “that was season 2, he changed later.” No, he didn’t. Chris is not an ally to werewolves, only Scott, and I will fight you)
Emotionally manipulated her into not seeing Scott again by threatening to kill him. (He’s also a hypocrite because in season 1 Kate also held a gun to Scott’s head and he said that wasn’t okay. Doesn’t matter if he wasn’t going to shoot Scott, unlike his sister, threatening it is bad enough)
Allison tells Scott not to laugh when she talks about archery, she also tells Jackson not to laugh before she confides something in him. This sounds like Chris and Victoria blow her off. She still has a box of art she produced from over her life claiming all of it was terrible. It sounds like Chris and Victoria said that to her. If she really truly hated it, she probably wouldn’t keep it. At least not in her room, maybe in storage, but at the moment it’s sitting there as a reminder she’s not good enough
Hid a lot of information from her (the truth about Victoria, the hunter thing – if she was meant to carry on the job, he waited an awful long time to get her into it, but whatever. The fact that he knew about the telluric currents and Gerard being alive)
This is the big one. This is it for me. She told him she loves him and HE DOESN’T SAY IT BACK!!!!
You tell your kid you love them, especially if they say it first. He kissed her head and fucking walked away. I don’t care what your familial love language is, if you can’t tell a person that you either helped make and/or raised or whatever that you love them, don’t be a parent. That shit hurts
He didn’t go to her when she died. She died in Scott’s arms. Chris stood there and watched. Maybe he was in shock, but that doesn’t sound like very good CoMpArTmEnTaLiZiNg. That would have been a good time to say you love your kid, but no. (If you believe the unreliable narrator theory, I certainly do, maybe he did go to her, but this isn’t what we saw in the episode.)
Peter Hale
Good
Wanted to connect with his child when he found out he had one
Was willing to do a big favor for Lydia just to get the name of his child (which was a big deal to him)
Spent thousands of dollars (and we all know how stingy Peter is) to get information on her
Was willing to get burned alive again to see his daughter (6.05)
Used himself as a distraction for the Ghost Riders to save Malia. Twice (the first time was when they were in the tunnels, and then fought them again in the library)
Similarly Peter, who just got done saying he wasn’t sure how Malia could be his daughter since she lacks self-preservation instincts, is willing to potentially sacrifice himself and tells her to run
Her calling him “Dad” snapped him out of the trance
The Anuk-ite used her voice against him, meaning his greatest fear was something happening to her
Bad
Wanted Malia to kill Kate (why? He could do it. Actually, Chris should have done it but he doesn’t have the balls)
Additional notes: The show implies Peter helped out Malia during the brown out in season 5 (through a flashback in season 6), but I never understood what the significance was, so I’m ignoring that until someone can explain it to me.
Ken Yukimura
Good
Was willing to sell out Noshiko, in a way, to help Kira (“Are you sure about that?”)
Was willing to go to prison for Kira when she was (knowingly) wrongly accused of murder
Bad
Didn’t tell her about her kitsune powers until they started to manifest
Didn’t tell her they were planning to go back to New York
Dr. David Geyer
Good
Supportive of Liam and helped him work through his anger
Doesn’t blame him for getting assaulted by Scott (”Are you mad at me?” “No, of course not.”)
Clearly cares about Liam, and his friends
Additional notes: We don’t get to see him enough. I’m mad about it.
Rafael McCall
Good
Tells Scott it’s safer for him to get out of town than stay when Monroe has her army
Bad
Pushed his kid down the stairs. Doesn’t matter if he was drunk or not
Didn’t really apologize to Scott for this incident, instead he pushed the blame to Melissa
Said he would come back soon and then didn’t
Not to mention he doesn’t seem to pay child support since Melissa is struggling and he offers to have dinner with Scott so Melissa can work more shifts instead of just giving her money. But I digress
Proceeded to not spend time with Scott. No phone calls or emails were mentioned (but I guess that doesn’t necessarily mean they didn’t exist. Still didn’t spend time with him, though)
Henry Tate
Good
Was gutted when his family died
Thrilled to find out Malia was alive
Bad
Sent her (?) to Eichen to readjust. That is what therapy is for, not a mental institution. (And who gave her the go ahead to go to high school with a third grade education? The fact that she graduated eventually with the academic success of a nine-year-old tells me she’s hella smart. What 9 yo wouldn’t struggle with pre-calc if they skipped all the stuff in between?)
Mr. Lahey
Bad
Abuses Isaac
Mr. Stewart
Good
When a lot of people (Natalie) didn’t believe Tracy had a real condition or problem, he did
Got her help for the problem (the psychiatrist)
Did everything he could to ease her mind (the dreamcatcher, boarding up the skylight)
Mr. Martin
Good
Went to the hospital to see Lydia
Bad
Tells Lydia she needs to choose who she lives with in the divorce
Presumed she had more problems than successes in school
Went to the hospital to see her, though he seemed a little eager to offer her help with a shower, which was creepy to me
Never to be heard from again. He likely abandoned Lydia
Elias Stilinski
Bad
Abusive and openly mocks his son and grandson (not sure how he remembered someone who was taken by the Ghost Riders)
The Moms
Melissa McCall
Good
Supports Scott no matter what
Bad
Except that one week after she found out he was a werewolf. She didn’t apologize for that either. Much like Chris, she did not express her love for her kid during that time even if she was struggling with his identity
(^ Saying forget everything I said before, if you can do something, do it is not an apology)
Her punishments are empty threats or nonexistent. She doesn’t ground him for sneaking out past curfew, does not punish him for assaulting Isaac (that’s not boys will be boys, that’s straight up assault), or stealing money from the Hales (she only demanded he give it back, no punishment ensued), took away his car keys/Stiles but then seemed to drop the punishment when she thought he was acting out because of his father)
^ Also, no Stiles is not a punishment you can follow through on
Instead of trying to have a conversation about the lone condom she found in his room with him, she goes to the MOM of the girl she ASSUMES he’s fucking. She could have been way off
She told the drunk to get out of the house, not the dad to get out of his life. Wrong. If your spouse hurts your kid, get rid of the whole man. Toodaloo motherfucker. Your stuff is in the trash
Instead of telling her son to get out of town for his safety, she tells him to stay. There is an entire army out to kill your child. He’s always going to be followed and hunted, yes, but it just seems irresponsible
I’m positive this is because the writers didn’t think it through that far or they simply forgot, but fact of the matter is it still happened. Melissa let Scott live with the man who pushed him down the stairs. Why? How are you certain it won’t happen again? How are you certain something worse couldn’t happen? I’m not giving up my kid, not for anything, not for any amount of time. If Melissa has primary physical custody, why would she let this happen?
Natalie Martin
Good
Wants Lydia to see a therapist
Electrocutes Tracy to save Lydia
Bad
“Lydia! What did you do to yourself?” sounds judgmental. Perhaps, upon seeing her daughter has cut her hand by punching the mirror, asking what happened would be more appropriate
Lets a strange boy into her house to be alone with Lydia while she’s drugged up and in negligee. Lydia can wear whatever the hell she wants, especially in her own house, but to let some rando into her room is not a good idea. And she left them alone
Says in season 4 she will do whatever she can to help and then turns around and absolutely does nothing (though this may be less of a parenting thing and more of a terrible person thing)
Sends her to Eichen House for the “best medical care.” Excuse me, ma’am, that is a mental institution, not a medical facility. Also, according to the flashback in Season 5, she saw what happened to Lorraine. I’m not sure if she’s cruel or stupid, but given everything else we know about Natalie, I’m going with both
She doesn’t care when Stiles points out Lydia has a hole in her head. She tries to justify it medically. You remember what happened to your former mother-in-law. Do you believe Lorraine did it to herself?
When Noah tells her what’s going on in Eichen, she waits all day to get Lydia out of there
When Tracy injures Lydia and Lydia tells Natalie to run, she does. She doesn’t risk her own safety to be with her child. She saves herself
Victoria Argent
Bad
“What you want doesn’t matter!” Tracks
She’s unnecessarily hard on Allison it seems (of course you shouldn’t be hard on your kid at all, but I feel Vicky was over the top)
Additional notes: I really don’t remember much about her except that she was a psycho. Some of her points are tied in with Chris.
Noshiko Yukimura
Good
Wants to get Kira help controlling the fox spirit
Bad
Hides Kira’s powers from her until they started to manifest
Sends her to the skinwalkers possibly forever (and then changes her mind)
Doesn’t tell her about the plan to move back to New York
Talia Hale
Bad
She didn’t seem like she was a comfort to Derek after he killed Paige. She told him his eyes were pretty and there was nothing wrong with them. There are definitely other things she could have said such as “It was a mercy kill, that doesn’t make you a bad person” or “She was suffering, you helped her” IDK
If Talia and Laura evolved in the same way Derek did in season 4, how come he didn’t know what was happening to him? I’m assuming Talia didn’t tell him
Additional notes: There’s no information about her as a parent, and these are mostly assumptions
Corinne
Bad
Tries to murder her daughter
Claudia Stilinski
Good
Based on Claudia pre-dementia, she would’ve believed Stiles
Additional notes: And this is according to Stiles who wanted to (rightfully) make his dad feel bad for not believing him. Which he never does. (He also yelled at Stiles unnecessarily)

This is only an opinion but I felt immense relief that Noah wouldnt be in charge of Eli (even tho it wasn't really implied in the movie anyway)... I think Scott is the good choice.
Sheriff's parenting methods are questionable to me because he employs scare tactics and threats to hold authority over Eli. And it's pretty obvious it scares him. Derek tried being quite the opposite with him. I'm personally not a fan of Noah's tactics with Eli but everyone has their different opinions.
Eli is really so soft I don't want him to be like Stiles. Him calling him a delinquent absolutely rubbed me the wrong way even if others saw that as affectionate. And maybe it was but suggesting he's another stiles? He's really his own person in this movie despite what others say. And noah calls him that because Eli steals the car but then there's no point in it when he just gives the car at the end and even encourages him to drive without a license. Idk about you but stiles behavior is clear to me. He encourages it but threatens him not to? He's basically says, you're dealing with loss rn so I'm going to say it's okay to break the law when you're in distress or holding emotional baggage. It's okay to say your 15 and now youre a tough man now... I was losing my mind. Let him grieve!
Plus this dude was already a dad and i honestly don't see him wanting to do that again, especially without his exasperation that he tends to hold. Don't get me wrong, I still see them as close.. but not in a parent and kid way.
Scott is literally the actual few options here. because despite protests he likes hanging out with him and he's reassuring and willing to keep him in a safe household that encourages positive discipline. Malia does have her strong sentiments but seeing how her relationship with Parrish is she's not exactly ready to be a parent. She still wants to fool around and be loose. Shes still talking about her commitment with Parrish. She may still take care of Eli, not like a parent, but rather as a close friend. To me that is.
So I found it interesting that he was being pushed in Scott's pack. Because it implies it wouldn't be just Scott. And STILL. Scott is giving him options. Yes Derek said to bring him in his pack but scott wants to talk about it with Eli if he thinks it's the right move first because it would be such a drastic change.
There is srsly no other way to explain this to an anti so I'm not going to even try and be persuasive either. This is an opinion out of the many out there.

I got some inspiration for the next chapter while taking a walk yesterday and decided to write it out and turn it into a short preview for chapter 14. Hope you enjoy it and let me know if you want more Once Upon A Time.
Leaves crunched under her boots as she walked through the dark, cold woods, following the group of hunters in front of her to a clearing in the moonlight. They stopped in its middle. Her white, mid-back length curly hair blown back slightly by the wind she conjured to clear the ground. Her brown eyes settled on the young woman opposite her.
“You promised me Hale.” Kate Argent sneered.
“I promised you power. I promised your father the Hales.” She corrected the whelp. Helping the Argents had not been her first choice but with everything she had endured, she had eventually found it to be her only option.
“Well, we have neither now. Don’t we?”
She raised an eyebrow, amused at the way Kate addressed her. “Nor do you have patience or intelligence it seems.”
Kate’s nostrils flared, her hands curling tighter around the semi-automatic she was holding. “You swore an oath…”
“No. I made an agreement. With your father. I have yet to see it fulfilled.” Kate clearly had not inherited her father’s calmer traits. Interesting really, to see how much she differed from her older brother.
Chris had always been a sweet boy. Kind and calm.
A part of her truly, deeply regretted everything she had done against him. And to those he loved. But that was the price she had to pay to defeat her own demons.

They really did Derek (and TH) so fucking dirty. This makes me so sad, and angry, at all the missed opportunities.
Truthfully, there are so many great role models for Derek to learn about humanity from:
The Sheriff
Who he’s already worked with lately, who’s a protector of the town and could be learning about the supernatural world even as he teaches Derek about being human. They’d trade tips, myths, and stories, the Sheriff getting incredulous in equal measure about mountain ash and the fact that Derek doesn’t know how to disinfect a wound more than what he’s seen in action movies - “Christ, kid. You don’t just pour alcohol over the wound and slap a bandage on it.”
Chris Argent
Who Derek worked with several times in 3B, who were a very interesting match of enemies-turned-allies and my personal brotp. Watching Derek learn how to defend himself the hunter way - with guns and bows and flash grenades that no longer blind him the way they used to - would be really interesting, and continue to develop a relationship we’ve seen already.
Stiles Stilinski
The official human of the pack, who knows exactly what it takes to be the squishy mortal in a pack of wolves, who would absolutely agree to mentor Derek so he could laugh at how ridiculous the whole situation was, and mock Derek for how much he sucked at being human. Great, season 1-2 style banter material right there. …But he’s also a person who Derek trusts, who’s saved Derek and been there for him on more than one occasion, in spite of everything.
All of these dynamics would make sense, would be entertaining and engaging… so it’s frustrating that they’re going to have Derek isolated from the rest of the pack instead, learning about humanity from a bounty hunter he hardly knows and has very little reason to trust. Sure, they’ll look hot together, but I can’t really be that excited about it when there are so many other relationships ready-made and waiting to be explored. This could be a great opportunity to bring Derek closer to the pack, but instead it’s pulling him further away from it.
I really wouldn’t be that surprised if they’re setting him up to leave the show.

RANT !! this has to be said.
the fact i just realized there’s an “anti scott mcall” tag just baffles me. it’s just weird. you can dislike scott but there is zero reason to make an anti tag.
sure, he made stupid mistakes but it’s the fact y’all want him out of the show? he’s the fucking main character and no one’s perfect. he’s a flawed character and let’s not act like your favs aren’t deeply flawed as well?
most of the people who interact or interfere with this tag are sterek or stiles stilinski fans which is pretty sad. y’all are either mad cause tyler p said the sterek ship is “twisted” (even though it’s really not that deep) or y’all just hating to hate. SMH LOL.
since scott McCall appreciation week is starting tomorrow imma just say that many people think that his character is “bland” or “boring” compared to the other characters which is wrong. everyone is entitled to their opinions so let me state mine real quick.
scott tends to be “bland” to most stiles fans because that’s who most people focus on for “comic relief” on the show. that’s why no one notices the good things he does for the others around him.
also, there are ppl in the anti tag saying how tyler posey is a racist (when it isn't even true) just because their bitter. aka, the same people who bash on tyler p but stan peter hales actor- who has been called out for many problematic things?
the hatred of scott mccall literally gets too much to the point where there are people are hating on the innocent, "im the hot girl" scene. WHAT?? HOW COULD SOMEONE HATE SCOTT IN THAT SCENE. i literally thought it was so funny with stiles and isaac and so adorable.
tyler p's done some stuff irl but anti's have gone way too far, just cause he has a fucking only fans doesn't mean shit. sterek fans/anti tyler p and scott mcalls have gone way over the top and made fun of how scott looks and his jaw- comparing it stiles/ dylan o brien. LIKE.. come awn now yall. literally everyone is attractive in the show and the haters can't pull any of them lmfao.
scott mccall has also done things, ALL the characters have but yet you feel the need to attack him only? like that time scott believed theo over stiles, that was dumb. really dumb- like why would you believe some rando over your bestfriend. but now yall are just throwing words in.
no one mentions how stiles treated scott like a literal dog during the first few seasons, when he couldn't control himself just because lydia kissed scott- (scott wasn't even himself) no one mentions how stiles made fun of liam's IED. no one mentions how he was always negative towards isaac. no one talks about how he literally pushed his dad into drinking more alcohol even though noah was known to have an alcohol problem. stiles acts as if he knows isaac's trauma, but really he doesn't. he also played with malia's feelings, i could list a whole lot of things- but im not a hypocrite. i can list a whole lot of things with scott as well.
so really what i'm saying here is that all characters have flaws- and there's no reason to make an 'anti' tag because that's what makes them realistic.

Alan Deaton is shady and untrustworthy supposedly, yet fandom absolutely believes him saying "spark" means Stiles is an archmage in the making? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Make it make sense, fandom!
You know, I’ve talked about fandom’s perception of Alan Deaton as cryptic and unhelpful along with their wild (and completely unsupported) conspiracy theories about his actions against Peter, Derek, and even Stiles, but both still keep popping up like ticks on the dogs Deaton helped in his clinic. We all know it comes from fandom’s reaction to the Teen Wolf writers’ intent on making Scott the main character and their refusal to totally force Deaton into the Magic Negro stereotype. The writers should be praised for it, faintly, but praised none-the-less. It would have been easy to write Deaton as an agenda-less dispenser of exposition and magic rituals.
But they didn’t. They established Deaton as a person with principles, emotions, and a right to privacy. He made decisions based on his own needs and wants and not just in reaction to the nearest character’s demands. He helped Scott and his friends on his own terms.
But we’re talking specifically about his relationship with Stiles here, and in their rush to blame some character for the fact that Stiles wasn’t the heroic protagonist, Stiles-stans often settle on the idea that Deaton saw the potential for greatness in Stiles and stifled it, choosing to manipulate Scott into becoming his pawn, disguising his theft of the Hale alpha power, and tapping into the Nemeton in order to turn Scott into his Tree Alpha.
(Don’t I wish that this was me making a mountain out of a molehill, but considering it’s still showing up in many fictions years after the show revealed that, no, Deaton was not a sinister wizard, I still feel comfortable calling it a trend.)
The worst part of these theories is that they simply don’t make sense if you take the entire show as a whole or even if you think logically about the theories’ own premises. Much like the ballyhooed and totally ridiculous McCall-Deucalion Assassination Conspiracy, the Deaton Anti-Stilinski Intrigue doesn’t hold up to the slightest bit of critical thinking.
Aside from the fact that the term ‘spark’ was an analogy for the basic capabilities of any human being (the fact that these dunderheads credit Deaton’s words and then ignore that he calls it an analogy in his next damn line will never not amuse me), the whole point is that until that moment, there was not a single hint that Stiles was anything more than a normal teenager (ignoring the sustained malarkey of the so-called mirror-verse). If Deaton noticed Stiles’ potential and wanted to suppress it, why call attention to it? Why not spread the mountain ash himself? They don’t have an answer, because there isn’t an answer.
On the other hand, why have Stiles do it anyway? Because Deaton, by this point, realizes that Scott needs all the support he can get and wanted to empower Stiles. Deaton opens the door for Stiles to feel useful in the world of the supernatural.
Deaton may not have taken Stiles under his wing as an apprentice, but he demonstrates a willingness to work with Stiles, even going so far as to admit his own feelings of inadequacy (not guilt) over the Hale fire to Stiles, something he did for no other character on the show.
None-the-less, ,if Deaton wanted to get Stiles out of the way and was the enemy of the Hales, he had plenty of ways to be more effective. The easiest would have been picking up the phone to his friend, the Sheriff, in Seasons 2 and 3A. “Hey, Noah, I’m sorry to have to do this but do you know what your son is involved in?” Given the Sheriff’s willingness to let Scott and Kira die rather than risk Stiles in Smoke and Mirrors (4x12), that would have been all he needed to do.
Alternatively, he could have looked for a more permanent solution. Do you know how many times some Shades-of-Gray Enthusiast has argued that Scott was a meathead for not simply putting a lethal poison in Gerard’s cancer medication rather than mountain ash? A lot of people would be alive if Scott had simply manned up and executed that old bastard.
And yet, I’ve never seen a single Left Hand Wannabe scold Deaton for not just pumping Void Stiles full of cyanide in Letharia Vulpina. Instead, Deaton traveled all the way to Japan for a specific form of moss that would incapacitate the nogitsune without killing Stiles. If he had just manned up and did what was necessary, that would have put an end to Stiles’ destiny as archmage and provided the druid with a perfect cover. Like Derek and Chris, Deaton would have been sad that Stiles was lost, but it had to happen.
No, Canon Alan Deaton didn’t suppress Stiles’s burgeoning magical talent anymore than he stole the Hale alpha power or manipulated Scott. He helped within the limits he set for himself, selflessly and repeatedly.
Now, fandom isn’t bound by canon. They have that freedom, but when a person has that freedom, they’re responsible for what they do with it. And what they’ve chosen to do with it is repeatedly, viciously, and violently hate a black character, painting them as a sinister mastermind threatening the rights and legacies of their favorite poor white male FBI agents, serial killers, and multimillionaires.
BUT IT’S NOT RACISM.

Hi I saw your post about being a Sterek anti which gave me whiplash because I followed you for mcyt opinions but then found the one other Sterek anti. Do you have any other unpopular Teen Wolf opinions that would really upset people?
I love to hate on Teen Wolf of course I have unpopular opinions. This is basically me hating on the Hales and Argents (minus Chris) for being creeps. Don't get me wrong I love the show but these are things that I can't ignore.
Disclaimer this includes topics such as child predators, grooming, abuse, murder and other similar topics. Don't read this If you really like Teen Wolf and is someone who can hate something based on others opinions.
• Sterek is an awful ship. If Stiles was a woman everyone would be calling Derek a pedo. It's weird because season 1-3 Derek was a creep and season 3-6 Stiles was an awful person. Like they switched.
• Ethan and Aiden sounded cool on paper but were a huge fail. Okay so you can combine and grow..... Is that it? Kinda lame for twin Alphas.
• Theo was a better villain than Void Stiles. He managed to successfully split the entire pack apart turning everyone against Scott including making Scott and Stiles fall out. He then made his own pack, killed them off for their powers, got sent to hell, then came back. Void Stiles was Stiles being possessed by a fox spirit and it not being him in control whereas Theo did kill them, he could control who lived or died. What can Void Stiles do? Play chess, pack it up Bella Swan!
• Stiles isn't my favourite character solely because of his comments about Liam's ied and Issac's abuse trauma. Saying that Issac was milking his trauma after he finally was able to open up about it. Constantly going on about Liam's ied and how he was a bomb ready to explode at all times.
• Peter was an awful person, he tricked Derek into turning Paige and that killed her, Derek was now single and traumatized just in time for child predator Kate Argent to groom him then burn his family, Peter survived the fire, killed even more people, died, manipulated Lydia into helping him come back, came back killed more people and repeat that 4 more times.
• Speaking of awful relationships let's not forget Parrish and Lydia. As in the grown adult police officer and the highschool minor.
• Stiles name is Genim and I stand by that.
• People think that Issac would have believed Stiles about Theo and that's just not true. Issac would have been wary of Theo based on his own thoughts but would have trusted that Scott trusted Theo. Don't know where everyone got this Issac and Stiles besties from, we must have been watching two different shows.
• Erica and Boyd were easily top 3 platonic soulmates. Others being Liam and Mason and Scott and Stiles
• Allison was a shitty person. She tried to kill her friends multiple times and got mad at everything and everyone. I genuinely thought she was meant to be bipolar when I was younger because of how she acted.
• Everyone was hypocritical, everyone was fine with Stiles killing Allison and Aiden, Peter for killing a lot of people but not Theo or Jackson eventhough Jackson was also possessed and Theo was manipulated and groomed by the Dread Doctors.
• Kira was stronger than Scott both mentally and physically. Parrish was stronger than Derek and Peter.
• Melissa and Chris were actually a good pairing. I feel like it would be weird for Melissa and John to get together.
• I don't know who Noah Stilinski is. I only know John.
• I prefer Stydia as friends but would pick them over Sterek. However I really liked Stiles with Malia and would have loved Stiles with Cora.
• Scott and Allison were a shit couple. "True love" okay so she broke up with him then immediately got with Issac who was one of Scott's best friends. Then Scott got with both Malia and Kira but still was obsessed with Allison. In my opinion their relationship was good in their eyes because it was their only relationship, no experience. Then Scott always brought her up because he felt guilty about her dying.
• Season 6 was a good season people only don't like it because Dylan wasn't in it.
• Theo was one of the best things to happen to Liam and vice versa. He was one of the only people who didn't either make fun of his ied or use it as an excuse for things. Yes he used it during 6x16 but he knew he'd get his ass handed to him but still did it to help the pack, he wasn't just saying it to insult Liam.
• Mason and Corey were a missed opportunity especially with Mason's knowledge and Corey's powers
• Scott and Liam weren't as close and people want them to be. Scott was always getting mad at Liam and rarely ever worked with him, they never did shit together. "Me and Liam go do this thing" "you guys go and sort this out". The only time he willingly stuck with Liam was when Liam had just bought back Theo and he only stayed with Liam because he thought Theo would try to manipulate him again.
• Lydia being the one to bring Stiles back during the wild Hunt was by far the biggest hate crime. You picked a long time crush over a childhood bestfriend/brother to be the one with the biggest connection to bring him back.
• Scott being a bland character was a good unintentional decision. It gave way for other characters to shine whilst also building multiple storylines. A bad example would be Elena Gilbert, she was bland but was still the main focus which imo was a bad decision.
• People really underestimate Theo and Liam's trust for eachother. They had less than a season of development but managed to be one of the better pairings. Like apart from them working together multiple times, Liam wanting Theo to go to the zoo with him, Theo stopping Liam from killing Nolan and Gabe etc. Theo knew about Liam being beat up at school by Nolan and Gabe before Scott did. Mason and Corey wouldn't have said anything because they didn't trust Theo, the only person who did was Liam. In the sheriff station Theo knew something was upsetting Liam and thought it was Brett and Lori then next episode knew it was Nolan and the Hunters.
• Coach was the best character in the entire show, not Stiles, not Issac, not Lydia, not Derek. What a king. Absolute girlboss. I know Coach would guard my drink with his life, no date rape drugs for me thanks to Coach.
• The show as a whole treated mental health terribly. Theo being manipulated as a child, Issac being abused by his father, Nolan's very severe anxiety and PTSD, Liam's ied, Malia's PTSD etc.
Basically if Teen Wolf had a 7th season and I was involved in writing it I would include the following:
• Puppy Pack including Liam, Theo, Mason, Corey, Hayden and her girlfriend (yes I'd give her a gf), Nolan and Alec just having fun and experiencing life.
• Derek, Peter and Chris working with the police.
• Melissa and Deaton working together along with Liam's step dad on a supernatural section in the hospital.
• Braeden 🥰
• I'd have a fever dream style episode where we get a Void Stiles and Evil Theo (with Tracy and Josh's powers) teamup.
• I'd bring back Kira, Cora and Issac
• I'd have the big threat being a coven of witches which is why they have to bring a lot of people back because it's a whole group of magical beings and Braeden, Kira, Cora and Issac could all bring knowledge that they've found from being in other parts of the world.
• I'd actually use all the cool supernatural powers instead of Scott roaring and flashing his eyes. Lydia's Banshee scream ripple, Parrish's flame on, Corey's invisibility, Theo, Malia and Derek's ability to shift into an actual wolf/coyote, Kira's cool fox powers, Jackson's Kanima vemon etc.
