I don't how right are accusations or these accusations actually did happen, however Michael Fassbender(guy who played Magneto in Xmen Remake films) had serious charges against him made by his ex girlfriend. And she is black. Which is kinda frustrating because even if they might be wrong, people jump to defame her.
Sighsss...
Sadly, there are articles stretching back to 2016 covering this. Here's the 2016 one:
And here's another one from 2018:
It's utterly frustrating to me as well. How Fassbender's domestic abuse allegations can pop up every few years and he still keeps getting away with it. How major news outlets don't cover abuse cases when victims are women of colour esp Black women with the same fervor they would for when the victims are White women (I suspect it's becos most major news organization in America and Britain are majority White). The best thing we can do about this is to keep raising awareness on it.

So we know you liked Taylor and open your eyes but I'm curious. Other celebrities you once liked and have been disappointed about or maybe not disappointed but like taylor, you saw something was fake ?
not so much in the same vein as taylor but I really liked Zachary Levi and Oscar Isaac. then I found out Zachary pretends to be a jew for roles and shares antisemitic “documentaries” about circumcision, and Oscar also pretends to be jewish for roles. I liked Zachary since his Chuck days so that was particularly disappointing. ironically I used to think rdj was cool, but I found out about him collecting races like infinity stones and then he fucking sheltered armie hammer. michael fassbender is allegedly an abuser and I wasn’t a huge fan but I was disappointed to see those allegations after he portrayed magneto so well. I know there’s probably more but I can’t think of any atm.

Charles, you're the lowest form of life for ditching your powers and abandoning mutants all for the sake of your crippling physical and emotional states!

A Dangerous Method
The Internet Movie Database classifies David Cronenberg’s A DANGEROUS METHOD (2011, On Demand) as a period drama, a biography, a drama and a romance (!). Contemporary reviews run along the same lines. Did nobody get the joke? Christopher Hampton’s adaptation of his play “The Talking Cure” dissects the relationship between Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen) and Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender), poking fun at their pretensions and prejudices, particularly misogyny. Watching the two actors subtly dig at each other is like watching a good production of “The Women” played by two men, only they’re sparring not over Stephen Haynes but rather the source of neuroses. And the winner may well be a patient-turned-psychiatrist (Kiera Knightley) out to establish her own identity.
The film starts with the arrival of Sabina Spielrein (Knightley) at the psychiatric hospital in Zurich where Jung is trying to apply Freud’s talking cure to his work. Over time he assigns Spielrein, who had aspired to study medicine, a position as his assistant and then takes her as a lover. Theirs is a sado-masochistic relationship in which Jung spanks her as foreplay while he also works on correcting the flaws he finds in her dissertation, which he appropriated within the theories he was developing at the time. He also travels to Vienna to meet Freud, but the two almost immediately start jockeying for position, with Freud first viewing Jung as his heir apparent and later, as their theories diverge, his rival. These scenes are both witty and balanced; both men come off rather juvenile in their need to be top dog.
Hampton has layered the work to deal with various issues in Jung’s relationships. It’s not just the need for dominance, but also elements of anti-Semitism (both Freud and Spielrein were Jews), classism (when Jung sails to America, his wealthy wife books him a first-class cabin while Freud is stuck in second) and sexism. At times, the film seems to be about the erasure of women from history. Jung treats his wife (Sarah Gadon) as an extra in his life, dropping in to visit when she has as child and casually using her as a test subject to be discussed dispassionately with Spielrein. Years later, he informs his former lover that he has a new mistress, whom he describes as the perfume in his life while his wife is the foundation. Both women are reduced to inanimate objects rather than being seen as human beings.
Cronenberg packages all this very handsomely with cinematographer Peter Suchitzky filming the Viennese locations in picture postcard colors and Howard Shore scoring the film with snippets of Wagner, whose mythic plots and leitmotifs seem to echo Jung’s more mystical approach to psychiatry. All three leading actors do quite well, with Knightley taking top honors with her committed physicality. She enters in a state of hysteria that modulates throughout the film as she conquers her mental problems and becomes increasingly confident in her status as both psychiatrist and woman. It’s a fiercely modern performance on a par with her work in ATONEMENT (2007).

Every now and again, I think about this exchange of dialog from the original X-Men film:
"Does it ever wake you in the middle of the night? The feeling that one day they will pass that foolish law or one just like it, and come for you? And your children?" "It does, indeed." "What do you do, when you wake up to that?" "I feel a great swell of pity for the poor soul who comes to that school... looking for trouble."
Specifically, the impact it had on the other films as a tone setter (right down to Kamen's "Checkmate", his X-Men theme). How every single film either never lived up to it, or constantly tried to replicate this scene not once, but multiple times with James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender (to no avail).
I was never all that interested in making literal "the war" Magneto talked about (like the films seemed to be). Even as a tweenager, I sort've understood that his whole spiel was more about the dread of being harmed and knowing it will happen than anything else (just based on my own understanding of anti-blackness as a kid). Not necessarily something that would come to fruition in a literal war.
It also frames him as the instigator of a lot of shit (i.e. mass murder as a solution to discrimination), versus Xavier's approach which is almost always about deescalation and aversion to conflict.

JOINT SESSION
Opening this weekend:
Kneecap--The title refers to a west Belfast rap trio whose members perform in Irish, as in the Irish language. The members play themselves in the film--two youths, who go by the stage names "Mo Chara" and "Móglai Bap," and an older music teacher, JJ aka "DJ Próvai," who performs in a balaclava to hide his identity both from his employers and from his wife.
The group's bristling, furious, insolently funny music gets them in trouble, not only with the police and politicians but with scuzzy local gangsters, the Orange Order and their own families. Even the pro-Irish language activists react with distate; they don't want the mother tongue associated with this sort of profanity, obscenity, drug use and anti-Brit sentiment. But the music also, of course, finds an enthusiastic audience.
The trailer calls the film, set in 2019 and directed by Rich Peppiatt from a script he wrote with the stars, a "mostly true story." To what extent the adverb in that phrase is strained, I can't say, though the publicity seems to suggest that this is a tall-tale version of the truth.
What I can say is that the movie is irresistible. The three stars are extremely endearing, and hold their own onscreen alongside veterans like Michael Fassbender as Móglai Bap's father and Josie Walker as a forbidding detective. Peppiatt's direction is fast and graphically playful but never merely slick; there's always warmth in the wit. And it's all driven forward by that marvelous music.
I realize that I come to Kneecap as a total outsider; most of the cutural references were opaque to me, and if there's another, darker angle from which this story can be seen, I'm certainly not in a position to recognize it. Things get a bit melodramatic toward the end, but again, the movie never really tries to claim that it's a documentary. Taken on its own terms, it's a delight.
There's also an irony built into the movie's language: the beautifully-spoken Irish is subtitled; the English dialogue is not, and was thus much harder for my Yank ear to follow. Maybe they should have subtitled both languages for the U.S. market, one in orange lettering, the other in green.

hi!! any teases on magnetism
Hello! Okay, so Magnetism, as you might have heard from previous excited squealing sessions I've had in the past, is a storyline inspired by the character Magneto, the X-Men hero/anti-hero/villain- whatever you want to call him. You might have seen the original post I wrote about this fic, where you can find here. I did make a poll once for what the ship for the fic could be, which you can also find here.
I've already shared quite a bit for this fic, in terms of general storyline and plot. But! I can still give a few more teases. ;3
This is a Ghost King Danny fic. I am trying to write it in a different way than most of my previous fics, so expect the unexpected!
This fic is probably going to be really... graphic at some points? If you've watched any of the X-Men movies with Michael Fassbender, it's probably about that same amount of violence but with more detail because I like to show the aftermath of major battles and death counts and collateral damage to add to the realism.
Speaking of Michael Fassbender as Magneto/Erik Lehnsherr, there is a scene from X-Men: Dark Phoenix that really showed how badass and powerful his abilities can be. I really hope to write a couple of fight scenes that show that for Danny as well. I really like OP Danny, but this is a Danny that has finesse, you know? And I'd like to show it off a bit. ;3
Here's the clip if you're interested:

So I started watching sandman, and dream and Lucifer had this weird battle, which was basically Rock Paper Scissors but with endless possibilities, and dream is like “I am the universe” and Lucifer is like “I am the anti-life” and dream is like “I am hope” and Lucifer just gives up? Like surely the next logical move would be reality or capitalism or something, not just giving up wtf

The Killer gets a new teaser trailer #movies #netflix
Netflix has released a video teasing the movies coming to the platform in 2023 with release dates. There’s a lot of movies coming but The Killer stood out. The Killer is a series of graphic novels by Matz and Luc Jacamon published by Archaia in the US. It’s about an assassin, think the anti-James Bond. The film is being directed by David Fincher and stars Michael Fassbender and Tilda…

anyone else like... nervous about how the mcu handles the x-men
(and yes a few of the x-men films suck but have u considered that they're camp? the mcu doesn't do camp and it's sad actually)
like especially with multiverse of madness coming up so soon, i really hope they do them justice. if they recast i'll support the new cast of course but i'll always feel a little pang of disappointment that james and michael were the perfect actors at the wrong time (and the rest of the cast of course i'm just a cherik supremacist)
#i can be a bit of an mcu anti in like an unfair way#but if they're using charles as like... x-baiting in the mcu i'll literally kill somebody#x men#marvel#charles xavier#erik lehnsherr#james mcavoy#michael fassbender#cherik

When asked how they felt about Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen returning.
James: Did we not do well in the last film? Why are you bringing the grandparents in?- sorry, guys.... Oh, I'm going to pay for that later.
Michael: You are going to pay for that. And rightly so.
Wait, Michael is the good child in RL?? He's an even better actor than I thought.
Link to full interview:
youtube
Michael tries to downplay it, but he seemed really bothered about not getting a scene with Ian. Oh, sweetie, you couldn't possibly share a scene with him. They're not going to let you upstage the old man so tremendously. Honestly, Erik's character in general started seriously disappointing Michael from dofp onward. That's one of the saddest things about this franchise's failure. They had a great cast that really enjoyed working together. James, Jenni Law, and Michael even made a pact that either they would all appear in the sequels or none of them would. Judging by the movie relationships, one would think all of the actors despised each other.
In regards to James' cheekiness, I see Patrick Stewart being the intimidating elder to the younger actors. McKellen? Get real. What's Methuselah going to do, quote Macbeth at them? 😏
