gracie abrams has been the topic of a couple posts in the byler tag recently. this post is not a hot take or even my opinion. this post is not defending or an attacking her. this is just things that i found when doing my own research on gracie abrams finn wolfhard situation. i have worked on and am going to continue to search carefully for apologies and acknowledgements of the issue the same way that i did when everyone said noah schnapp was a problem (no, that is not me comparing the severity of those two situations at all just the only example i can think of that wouldn’t send this post to a problematic place on tumblr) before jumping to conclusions, despite my initial disgust, and i encourage everyone else to do the same. saw some recent posts about it which is the first i had heard of this whole issue at all. this post is not targeted at a specific user. here is what i have found, which i present to you without any of my own feelings about the situation.

1: what sparked the controversy (this was in 2017 when she was 17/18). 2-4: everything else i could find.

they’re not reylo because osha isn’t sidelined from the narrative to support his goals. from her perspective we see how it makes complete sense why someone like her, (a dedicated, loving yet outcasted former jedi) is questioning where she belongs. Qimir may want to use her and obviously feigning kindness to get her to trust him, but he also genuinely wants a pupil that unlocks the power of the dark side. And he sees that power in osha and it’s this obsession with her that’s undeniably tempting especially for someone who hasn’t quite been given back the loyalty and devotion that she openly offers.

its “toxic” because it’s supposed to be. and we love watching these dynamics unfold because they reflect the ugly truths of human nature. we do things to feel love even if it’s in artificial forms. we incessantly give with the illogical hopes that we might receive something back. how the dark side pulls someone such as osha therefore becomes realistic. and what is more appealing than to allow yourself recognition you never had. to let your emotions be unrestrained and even be your greatest strength. what else could you do when someone finally tells you that there’s more out there for you, and can grant you unspeakable power that’s always been just out of reach

There’s this one particular kaylor who thinks Gracie Abrams is hinting towards a Tayvis breakup by posting songs on her story 😬 (because the everything is about Taylor apparently)…. She also believed Gracie announced her deluxe album as a hint?? (I don’t even know how that works) she also believes Gracie, Phoebe Bridgers, some of Gracie’s close friends, Gracie’s literal cousin, Noah Kahan and god knows who else are all hinting towards a mass coming out through Instagram stories and Spotify playlists 😵‍💫 it’s truly a concerning level of delusion truthfully they likely have grandiose delusions 😬 (they literally referred to themselves + other kaylors as “true” fans) as if they’re not in a complete make believe world

They literally think all of the above (mainly Gracie Abrams and her friends and family) are communicating with them through songs in playlists. It’s really sad and concerning

Honestly though they likely have some form of erotomania (part of which is believing a celebrity is sending you secret messages when they aren’t) and it’s really damaging and sad to see that the kaylor community do nothing but feed this disorder rather than get the blogger help because they would rather see it is as them being right than as the person doing all this clearly having some underlying mental health disorders

All Kaylors suffer from a form of erotomania and their theories become wilder by the month. I've even seen them try to link Louis Tomlinson's songs to Taylor's imminent coming out.

I'd like to add Olivia rodrigo to the stolen by swift list. Obviously the get him back fiasco but her Grammy dress was suuuuper telling. Olivia has said that she wears long gloves as an homage to Jennifer in Jennifer's body. Taylor's Grammy outfit was a near exact ripoff of jennifers finale prom ensemble. It had to be deliberate there's no way she picked that dress with those gloves and those accessories and didn't have her in mind. It was definitely a 2 for 1: stealing Olivia's look and her style inspiration at the same time. Bonus! Jennifers body is on of those unhinged good for her movies so it fit in with her newest romanticizing asylums personality.

I mean, considering she also stole looks from Sabrina Carpenter and Gracie Abrams, I would not be surprised at all...

I'm starting to think the Peter Pan TS references in her songs is actually herself.

It sucks that Gracie’s getting most of her attention from that one song because of a trend. She genuinely makes really good music and it’s sad that so many artists only get popular because of a single verse of a song that goes viral on TikTok (which most of the time isn’t even the best part of the song). Like they deserve to be popular because they make good music, not because a bunch of 12 year olds are using their song on a 30 second video that they’re just using to get their daily follow.

You know, I really think the people who started the “Gracie Abrams is Lacy” theory are just hardcore livies who don’t want to admit it’s Sabrina Carpenter and that Olivia is obsessed with her and has been for a while.

Livies insisted that the “blonde girl” line in drivers license couldn’t be about Sabrina because the line was originally brunette (my thoughts on the switch in lyrics is a whole different post), but still sent her hate cause she dated a guy Olivia liked. Cause if they admit that it’s about Sabrina, they have to admit that Olivia let her jealousy tear another woman down, and because most of the hardcore toxic livies think in absolutes, it would destroy the idea that she’s “the good one.”

Also, Olivia and Gracie performed together, which means they’re probably on friendly terms. Believing Lacy is about Gracie makes the stalking lines a lot less menacing than they are if they reference Sabrina Carpenter, who she clearly has issues with and only responded with “I don’t even know her” when a reporter asked for a response to her fans sending Sabrina death threats. Another thing that livies can’t handle because it destroys the image Olivia tries to maintain as the perpetual victim.

The only support I’ve seen for Gracie being Lacy is the ribbons and that she got what she wanted (presumably performing with Taylor Swift), but Sabrina Carpenter has both those, too, plus she’s done the Bardot photoshoot, dated Joshua Basset (another thing Olivia wanted), a perfume line, the missing “s” in the lyric video, and being a “starlet,” which makes most people think movies/Hollywood, while Gracie’s only been in two music videos.

Anyway, toxic livies spent so much time and energy saying “it’s not even about Sabrina” with drivers license that now that Olivia’s released another song that clearly is about her and has the potential to result in more death threats being sent her way, they know they look like hypocrites and assholes, and they can’t handle it.

can’t stand taylor swift but us. by gracie abrams featuring taylor is such a gorgeous song, it singlehandedly tops all 31 songs of TTPD combined, and its really cute for gracie who has loved taylor all her life to have her on a song. i may not like taylor, but i’m really happy for gracie because having your idol on a song of yours must be so insanely special.

I think “coming down” originally had a negative meaning in Gracie’s music and was associated w taking drugs to cope w problems. A comedown happens after the high from a drug wears off. This parallels many songs on TTPD: Forget Him pills, “I took the miracle move on drug, the effects were temporary,” “Put narcotics into all of my songs,” “You tried to buy some pills from a friend of friends of mine,” “You needed me, but you needed drugs more”

I think it’s also related to how as Taylor has gotten more and more famous and reached new “heights” of success, she has had to leave behind the ppl that truly love, see, and accept her (us gaylors/kaylors). We were left on the ground while Taylor kept floating upward

The Bottom and Wishful Thinking are right next to each other on the album bc they are directly related to each other and are from opposite perspectives of the two ppl in this relationship. I believe Wishful Thinking is from our perspective to Taylor abt how she’s frozen at the same age like Peter Pan. This would make The Bottom from Taylor’s perspective to us. I think both songs are related to the common expression “hitting rock bottom." The first line of Wishful Thinking is exactly the same as the volcano message "i will meet you down at the bottom, my love"

I think Free Now is directly addressed to swifties. She's offering them an olive branch and the green light of forgiveness if they are willing to accept her after she comes out

All of this magic and showmanship so that she can pull the rug out from under everyone and expose the PR, bearding, and lies?? “It’s been a long time coming…I’m coming down, I’m coming down, I’m coming down” // “The true magic lies in the descent.” The cross in poetry being how Gracie’s music parallels Taylor’s perfectly

June 12 mirrored being June 21 which is when TSOU, which seems like a secret message to kaylors, was released. It really does feel like TSOU is describing Taylor’s secret relationship w this korner of the internet that only we’re aware of. Just like the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, there’s no actual tangible evidence that Taylor sends anonymous messages here but we’ve passed down these messages like folk songs and the whole thing has become a myth. “Babylon lovers hangin' lifetimes on a vine”
