âYou canât tell someoneâs health just by looking at them!!!â
As someone with âinvisibleâ illnesses: Are you sure? Letâs try applying this to other demographics. So someone incredibly underweight is healthy until proven otherwise? Someone with a skin condition or even temporary dermatitis? Someone who is a regular cigarette smoker? Someone with severe cerebral palsy? Are you sure that thereâs so visible indicators at all for peoples health and wellness?
We can tell when people are simply tired based on physical indicators, like eye bags and posture. Are you really telling me that other even clearer indicators of worse health than just a bad nights sleep just donât exist?
This whole argument is really exhausting because itâs another case of people trying to act like the exceptions that prove the rule are actually just the rule.

hey. do you think fatphobia isn't real? do you think its made up? do you think fat people are complaining about the natural consequences of their actions?
why do you care?
no, really, why do you care so much about fat people? why do you care that they are "complaining"? why does it make you so mad? everyone complains. all the time. and, i mean, this is tumblr! nothing matter here. why do you care so much?
why do you get so angry at fat people you think are gross? why do you care so much about someone else's supposed eating habits? hygiene habits? lack of exercise routine? why does any of that matter?
are fat people actually doing anything to you? affecting your life? changing laws or bullying you? really? how? do you think that fat people are coercing skinny people into fat lifestyles? how? by existing? by complaining? by talking about problems in their life?
are you concerned that they're ruining their bodies? why do you care?
its not your body. its not your life.
unfortunately, if this post does end up getting gears turning, the people who change their mind won't say anything. the people most likely to respond are the fatphobic "anti-fat activists" who are blinded completely by their hatred of fatness and fat people. any fat person who finds this post, please be cautious of the notes. i don't know what they'll look like.
but if you have someone in your life who might benefit from these questions, go ahead and ask them. ask them to explain their bias. maybe it will make them see how pointless it is to hate fatness. safety first, however.

The annon is right . Much as you want to argue . Not everyone will or want to accomidate you . Get up touch grass
they have a point though. you wouldn't need everyone to accommodate you if you just lost weight, but you're too lazy to stick to a healthy diet and exercise. it's that simple. I'd like to see you back up your claims, but you have no proof. you have got to stop lying to yourselves and face the facts
Must I go through this again? Fine. FINE. You guys are working my nerves today. You want to talk about facing the facts? Let's face the fucking facts.
In 2022, the US market cap of the weight loss industry was $75 billion [1, 3]. In 2021, the global market cap of the weight loss industry was estimated at $224.27 billion [2].Â
In 2020, the market shrunk by about 25%, but rebounded and then some since then [1, 3] By 2030, the global weight loss industry is expected to be valued at $405.4 billion [2]. If diets really worked, this industry would fall overnight.Â

Over 50 years of research conclusively demonstrates that virtually everyone who intentionally loses weight by manipulating their eating and exercise habits will regain the weight they lost within 3-5 years. And 75% will actually regain more weight than they lost [4].

Doctors became so desperate that they resorted to amputating parts of the digestive tract (bariatric surgery) in the hopes that it might finally result in long-term weight-loss. Except that doesnât work either. [6] And it turns out it causes death [7], addiction [8], malnutrition [9], and suicide [7].

Studies have observed that about 30% of so-called ânormal weightâ people are âunhealthyâ whereas about 50% of so-called âoverweightâ people are âhealthyâ. Thus, using the BMI as an indicator of health results in the misclassification of some 75 million people in the United States alone [20].Â

While epidemiologists use BMI to calculate national obesity rates (nearly 35% for adults and 18% for kids), the distinctions can be arbitrary. In 1998, the National Institutes of Health lowered the overweight threshold from 27.8 to 25âbranding roughly 29 million Americans as fat overnightâto match international guidelines. But critics noted that those guidelines were drafted in part by the International Obesity Task Force, whose two principal funders were companies making weight loss drugs [21].

being fat is hard because you donât just run into inaccessibility that affects only you. for example, if iâm bigger than a car seat is built for, then i inconvenience those sitting next to me. if iâm bigger than a room is built for, i encroach on others space. it makes the fat person feel like itâs a personal fault, and skinny people are often not kind to fat folks who take up space. i want to make this clear: it is Not the fat persons fault AND i understand the strain and shame it can cause fat people. this world is built to exclude fat people. fitting of my favorite phrase inspired by the social model of disability; itâs not the fat persons fault, itâs the worlds fault.

Socialists, get into fat liberation theory right the fuck now. I am speaking as a fellow dirty commie, DO IT.
You all like to lump fatness into either the category of "product of bourgeoisie decadence" or "side effect of capitalism forcing us to eat bad food" when neither is the actual case.
Fat people exist in all social classes and all walks of life, often regardless of individual choices.
Fat people are victims of capitalist exploitation at the hands of the multi billion dollar diet and weight loss industry that pushes eating disorder behavior and unnecessary surgeries on to us all in the name of profits.
Fatphobia ties into beauty standards that capitalists use to manipulate people into hating their bodies so they can be sold beauty. Think about how many of the ads you get every day are for weight loss.

Thereâs this talking point shift coming from fat activists from âbeing fat is healthyâ to âitâs okay if youâre unhealthy, no one owes you healthâ that really makes it seem like as fat activists are aging (since basically all fat activists are or began their journey into fat activism as young adults or teens) they are feeling the compounding effects of their obesity and can no longer argue that they are healthy and fat so they have shifted the goalposts to claim that itâs fine if theyâre doing damage to their health.

anti-fatness is not just body shaming.
anti-fatness is discrimination. anti-fatness is having next to no legal protections for being discriminated against. anti-fatness is being denied housing, jobs, receiving less pay and promotions (legally) because of your size. anti-fatness is being denied access to clothing, seating, transportation, and other human rights because infrastructure has been designed to exclude you. anti-fatness is less likelihood of receiving a fair trial. anti-fatness is dehumanization. anti-fatness is being denied necessary surgeries, but not surgery that amputates the digestive tract with the intent to starve and shrink you (it doesnât work either). anti-fatness is mutilation. anti-fatness is being subject to torture devices that bolt your mouth shut. anti-fatness is being told by close friends, family, and professionals that you are better off living with an eating disorder or other life-threatening illness. anti-fatness sells you starvation as a guaranteed opt-out of oppression, but doesnât tell you that bodies will always regain weight to survive. anti-fatness blames and punishes you for failing at an achievement that is quite literally impossible. anti-fatness is a $90 billion dollar industry. anti-fatness is being denied gender-affirming care. anti-fatness is being barred from in vitro fertilization and reproductive healthcare. anti-fatness is being barred from adopting children. anti-fatness is being removed from your loving parents because they couldnât make you thin. anti-fatness is intentionally starving your own baby so they wonât get fat. anti-fatness is disproportionately high suicide rates. anti-fatness is being killed at the hands of medical neglect and mistreatment. anti-fatness is the world preferring a dead body over a fat one.
#iâm sorry that my fellow fat followers have to see this. you all already know it. youâve lived it.#spread this like wildfire so that thin people can wake up.#resources#tw anti fatness#tw fatphobia#tw medical fatphobia#tw anti fat bias#tw anti fat violence#fat liberation#fat acceptance#fatphobia#fat activism

Hereâs your reminder that permanent âfat to thinâ weight-loss is not observed or backed-up by research.
If youâre fat, then youâll most likely never be thin for long. Anderson JW, et al. found in a 2001 meta-analysis of 29 long-term weight-loss studies, that participants maintained an avarage of 3.0 kg or 23% of their initial weight-loss after 4 or 5 years.
These studies had participantsâ initial weights ranging from 73.5 kg to 148kg (btw, participants weighting 140.1 were the ones to initially lose the most weight on avarage: 44.2 kg). And Iâm sorry, but a 3 kg maintained weight loss is never going to make even a short 95 kg weighting person thin, even less so a 148 weighting one.
From what Iâve observed, there is absolutely no research to support that permanent weight-loss can be achieved, with, but especially not without, surgery.
We are sold a lie of how our bodies are supposed to look, and then we are sold surgeries, pills, courses, mentorships, gym memberships, more surgeries, books, exercise equipment for weight loss, powders, and did I mention surgeries??
Itâs bullsh*t.
Happy weekend!

People who think fat people are inherently unattractive are so fucking deranged. You can accept that there are people out here riding dragon dildos like the cops are behind them but a human being with a statistically above average amount of adipose tissue is out of the question????
There are fat girls in this world who have men screaming crying throwing up, begging for the pussy, on their front yards in the rain with a boombox, and you think you're better than them because you drink the laxatives you sell on tiktok to 15 year olds with EDs like water and act like salad dressing is literal asbestos???
I'll guarantee you right now there's a fat man rocking his girlfriend's bed while she's screaming his name like a prayer and has the sheets in a deathgrip and another one with a twink between his legs holding onto his big ass thighs like a rollercoaster lap bar, and here your goofy ass is in the gym, flexing in the mirror for approval from strangers and living off chalk-flavored bricks and bone marrow until your blood is the consistency of chili flakes and thinking you're smart and they're dumb.
There is something seriously wrong with you all and you need DEEP introspection to fix it.
