I wish people would stop treating Kira’s faith like something detrimental to her strength as a character— like, as if being religious makes her any less “good” in their eyes.
Kira is a deeply religious person- it is one of my favorite things about her as a character. It does give her a layer of complexity we don’t usually see, but I wish we could re-frame this and stop thinking about her religion as a type of complexity usually looked at by fans as a moral shortcoming.
Yes, I know it is difficult for socially “progressive” people in our current political climate to see religious characters and not immediately equate their religion with bad things and oppression. But in reality religion, like people, is many layered, diverse, complicated, and so so important to so many people and societies. Religious belief does not always equal Political conservatism and/or oppression: equating the 2 is actually harmful to communities like mine. Like the Bajorans, Jews have survived countless tragedies, and yet we are still here: we are still here, because we didn’t relinquish who we are, which in many cases (not all) is our faith and religious practice. The Bajorans were almost obliterated— their faith united them and kept them going— THIS, is why people like Kira felt so threatened when the federation tried to come in and suppress it (even though they meant well)— Kira’s opposition to Keiko O’Brien teaching Bajoran students about the wormhole isn’t bc she has some kind of moral flaw bc of her religion, it’s because she almost saw that essential piece of their culture destroyed. And if the Cardassians didn’t manage to destroy it by force, the federation just might destroy it by way of “benevolent” assimilation. She isn’t being “anti Science,” she’s just not on board with the idea of the federation totally ignoring and rejecting her people’s autonomy and cultural beliefs. And as a religious Jew, I can definitely understand where she is coming from.
As a socially progressive person, AND as an Orthodox Jew, I love representation like Kira Nerys, because it makes me feel so seen. I too care about fighting injustice. I also love Hashem and I love my culture and I resent the way that secular people talk about us as if we don’t live up to their moral standards because we believe in G-D and have a lot of intricate practices to show that belief that don’t make a lot of sense to them. (Assimilation is in itself a form of oppression you know)
Kira being religious is a beautiful part of her character. Yes, it makes her “complicated,” but not in that it adds flaws. It adds culture and love and faith and community and passion and so so many things. It makes people like me feel seen and valued. You know what doesn’t make people like me feel seen and validated through? People talking shit about faith and acting like it’s a character “flaw” that hinders someone’s ability to be the perfect paragon of “progressive” virtue. .

Helion is a hugger. Fight me. ❤️
This is a pro Tamlin, anti Rhysand self insert revenge fic. All characters belong to SJM, but she wasn't treating them right. Tam x reader, Tam x Rhysands Sister (OC), First person narrative. This will also reference Elucien and Neris in the future but we aren't there yet.
Word Count: 2432 (Hey I figured out Word counts!)
Ch 1
Ch 7 >> Ch 9
Chapter 8:
Tarquin had written back informing us that he has decided to send aid and supplies to help rebuild the western most village. Tamlin traveled out there to meet them this morning right after breakfast. Lucien and I stayed at the manor to discuss the upcoming trip to Day.
“Have you ever met Helion?” I asked Lucien as I entered his office, curiosity getting the best of me. I knew Baron was volatile at his best and wasn't sure if he knew of the rumors or not. I sat a warm cup of tea in front of him at his desk, before taking my seat in one of the ornate chairs in front of him.
“Nope, but I am not unaware of the rumors.” Lucien admitted, ignoring the tea entirely. He was reading over the plans I had drafted to rebuild the eastern village.
“Would you be interested in joining me? Just to see him, face to face,” I was treading carefully. I couldn’t read Lucien's mood. He put down the papers and sat back in his chair, finally looking at me.
“I have spent my life feeling like a bastard, watching Baron's cruelty towards my mother. He was cruel to my brother's but it always seemed like I got the worst of it. I could never do anything right, even as a child. The thought of having a different father entirely is a scary one. What if he doesn't see it and doesn't want anything to do with me?” He said coldly.
“Oh, but what if he does?” I offered him a soft, hopeful smile. Lucien's eyes lit up for just a second.
“I have never allowed myself to even dream of what a father's love might look like. I wouldn't know what to do with it. I am just the 7th son of Autumn.”
“But heir to Day,” I sang. “You glow when you're upset. And if the rumors are true, that Helion and your mother are mates, that would explain why you were able to hold on so long, long enough for Thorin to revive you. Children born of mates will always be inherently stronger and more powerful.”
“It's hard to hold on to that hope. It would be nice, but like most things in my life, it just paves the way for more disappointment and heartbreak. I do appreciate, however, that you are the first person to have ever discussed it with me directly.” Lucien’s demeanor softened slightly.
“Sometimes, just talking about things that weigh heavily on you can help ease the burden.” I replied. “With Tamlin busy in the western village, I know he would appreciate that I didn't travel alone. And who better to ask than the male he trusts the most?”
Lucien smiled, “well, how can I say no to such a flattering request.”
I returned the smile, “thank you.”
“And since you brought it up, who was the.. guy.. that revived me? Thorin? What is the story with him?” Lucien prodded. “He looked a lot like Tamlin.”
I giggled. “He is a friend I made shortly after arriving in Azeroth. He showed me the laws of the lands and introduced me to their way of life. He is what they call a Night elf, and a druid. We had an… arrangement.” I answered with a cheeky grin. “We kept the communication open, he knew about Tamlin and that my ultimate goal was to return home. I still love him, he is a good friend and he's always treated me with respect and I, him. Love doesn’t always have to last forever for it to mean something. ”
“Now that I know of Elain, I don't know if I could ever sleep with someone else.”
“And that is a fair decision, one made with respect to your own feelings. For me, sex can be as meaningless or as meaningful as you make it. I can sleep with someone just for fun, and as long as all parties consent and are on the same page, there isn't generally a problem.”
“How does Tamlin feel about this?”
“We haven't discussed it in depth yet, but he knows I have had other lovers just like he has. He can't be too mad at me considering my last lover saved your life and his last lover ended in the destruction of our court. Communication, even, no, especially the hard stuff, is important to maintaining friendships and avoiding enemies.”
“So, if I am attracted to someone else, even considering Elain exists, I'm not a bad person as long as I communicate?”
“And set agreed upon boundaries, yes.” I assured him. “But the situation with the sisters does confuse me. Mating bonds are rare, Tamlin and I had known eachother since childhood and I was still 50 years of age before it snapped into place. They are all in their 20s. I know humans mature at a faster rate than us, and they were considered to be of age by human standards before being ‘turned fae’ but that doesn't change the fact that they have only been alive for 20 ish years. And all of them have a mate? If I were to give you any advice, let Elain live. Let her know you will come if she needs you, remain close and protect her, but she is going to make stupid and selfish decisions, we all have, allow her that. Allow her to grow up and don't take anything she does personally. She is incredibly young.”
“That makes a lot of sense, and is comforting in a way.” Lucien thought aloud. “I do sometimes feel…” he shook his head, “She doesn’t want me,” softly whispered under his breath.
“Tamlin shared his memories of that day with me. What she went through was horrendously tragic. Is it possible she is just mourning the life she lost? Give her the benefit of the doubt. Do things that make you happy in the meantime. Heal and become the best version of yourself so that if, and when, she comes to you, she gets the best version of you.” I said it as a matter of fact. “Can I ask you something weird?” I could tell he was getting uncomfortable with the turn this conversation took, so I decided to change the subject.
“Sure, go for it”
“You were in that room with me, my brother and Tamlin, am I misinterpreting the amount of.. tension.. there was? If you know what I mean.”
Lucien blushed, hard, and looked away, a growing smile on his face. “Yes,” he couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity, “almost a century ago, they thought they were subtle, but most of us knew.”
I laughed loudly, “he fucked my brother.” I couldn't contain it anymore.
“Please don't tell him I told you,” Lucien scolded lightly, holding back laughter himself, “And don't hold it against him.”
“I won't,” I said through laughs, “it's kind of flattering in a weird way.”
We finished our tea and prepped the last items we would need. I made sure to have the parchment with the spell in my pocket. “Are you ready? I don't want to be late.” Lucien sounded like he was giving me an order. I was slightly shocked but chalked it up to nerves. It seems I had said exactly what he needed to hear.
“Yes, I just have to do one thing real quick.” I opened a portal to the western village. I wanted to give Tamlin a kiss goodbye and let him know we were leaving.
Tamlin was carrying a stack of lumber over his shoulder, face flushed and chest glistening with sweat. I admired, even as a High Lord, how he was willing to get his hands dirty to help his people. “If you could do this, why did I spend all morning traveling here?” Tamlin asked, breaking the kiss.
I giggled. “You didn't ask me to, I figured you would enjoy the run.” I smiled innocently and gave him one last kiss before portaling back to Lucien.
♡♡♡♡♡
“Okay, ready now.” I grabbed Lucien's hand and portaled us to right outside the Day court castle. “Nervous?”
“Absolutely.”
“I'll be right here.” I whispered to Lucien then addressed the guards, “I have a meeting with the High Lord Helion.”
♡♡♡♡
“There she is, the beautiful Lady of Sp—” Helion's thunderous voice rang out before he caught sight of the male at my side. I've heard it is difficult to render the High Lord of Day speechless. They just stared at each other for a minute, before Helion spoke again, much softer this time. “You look so much like your mother..”
Lucien was frozen, I squeezed his hand in silent encouragement. “This is Lucien, my escort for today.” Neither of them heard me.
“I had heard the rumors, I could never find a way to reach you, or your mother, without putting her in harm's way.” Helion whispered, staring intensely at his son's face, then proceeded to pull Lucien in for a tight embrace. It took a few seconds but Lucien dropped my hand and held him back. “My son.”
I had no idea what to do with myself, I felt a tear escape, but I did not want to draw attention by attempting to leave. I could not ruin this moment for them. They both had dreamed and feared this day for nearly 300 years.
A few moments later Helion broke the hug, keeping one hand on Lucien's shoulder, “Look at you, a perfect blend of your mother and I.” He then turned to me, “you have brought me my son, this is the greatest kindness anyone has ever shown me, whatever you want, it's yours.”
“But I had a whole speech prepared.”
As the males took their seats in the meeting room, I just stared at my worst enemy. A throne. No, not a real throne, it's just what I just call the kind of seats with a high back and arm rests. In Tarquins meeting room I could just turn the chair sideways, but I can't in this case. “Do you happen to have a seat available that possibly doesn't have a back?” I asked, twitching my wing.
Helion let out a boisterous laugh, “of course, Lady, I hadn't considered that. The other illyrians I've met don't seem to have a problem with them.” He sent one of his men to fetch me a soft plush ottoman.
“Perfect, thank you.”
“So you wanted to discuss aid to rebuild Spring, is that correct?”
“Yes, but also, since my letter I must inform you that the Night court has committed an act of war. My brother attempted to assassinate the Emmasary of Spring, a son of Autumn and… the Heir to Day. Had I not stepped in your son would've been dead by Rhysands hand. Given they border you to the North, I figured it was pertinent information.”
“Spring has saved my life on multiple occasions” Lucien finally spoke.
“Well, it seems I am indebted to you then.” Helion looked at me.
“She doesn't like to hear that.” Lucien interjected. I just smiled and cocked my head as if to say ‘Lucien is right.’
We talked for a while, I gave Helion the same spell I gave Tarquin and he seemed shocked.
“Where did you find this? This is mighty impressive.” Helion proclaimed looking over the document. He looked to truly understand the weight this spell would have on the future of Prythia as a whole.
“I studied at the libraries of Aretuza for many years while in exile. I hear your libraries are also great. Once we get a handle on the Night court, I would love to spend some time here, if that is okay with you.”
“Sky, you are always welcome.” Helion gushed, looking up to me, then shifting his eyes to Lucien, and back to the parchment.
We spent the rest of the afternoon into the evening being shown the stunning architecture and cities of the Day court. I tried multiple times to take my leave and let Lucien and Helion catch up, but Helion kept pulling me back in. We sampled the sweet wines and toured a few of the libraries in the castle. Helion asked Lucien no less than a thousand questions about his interests, upbringing, skill set, and tastes. Lucien confided in Helion regarding his feelings about Elain, and shared stories of his travels. Typical father and son bonding that they both have missed sorely. I tried not to eavesdrop, and wasn't entirely sure where I fit in, but Helion was great at drawing me back into the conversation with a “Sky, what do you think about this?” Thinking of it after the fact, the playful banter we all three had going on could’ve been them flirting with me. Eh, it went over my head at the time.
As the sun began to set over the horizon, it was most definitely time to head on home. While Helion left the room to, most likely, fetch us another bottle of wine, I pulled Lucien aside, “I need to be leaving soon, if he offers, would you like to stay here for a while, or come back with me?”
“I would like to return with you, thank you for asking,” Lucien responded sincerely, “I need some time to think, all of this is getting a little overwhelming. In a good way, if that makes sense. I just feel I need some time to breathe and process everything.”
“I completely understand.” I reassured him.
When Helion returned we thanked him for his kindness and bid our farewells. He advised that he would send aid and craftsmen to assist in rebuilding the eastern villages. I made something up about Lucien being needed at the Spring court and he pulled his son in for another hug. “Come back soon, please.” Helion said as he broke the hug, holding eye contact. Lucien just nodded and smiled. I portaled us back to the foyer of the manor.
Just as soon as I stepped foot onto the tile floor, I was hoisted up and thrown over a broad shoulder. I screamed, playfully.
“Lucien, welcome back. I would love to hear all about how it went… tomorrow,” Tamlin wrapped his free arm around Lucien's shoulders briefly, “Sweet dreams, but I am stealing this one back now.” And he began carrying me up the stairs to our bedroom.
“Put me down!!” I played along, softly punching my fists against his back.
“Nope, I've missed you. It's my turn for your attention.” he teased.

I sent an ask recently wondering if you minded Dany fans interacting and I found out you actually have my asoiaf blog blocked. We’ve never interacted before but I suspect it’s because I have a post that circulated where I said that Sansa is not an important character. I’ve since changed my mind about that entirely and Sansa has become one of my favorites. It also may be that I’ve expressed frustration with Jonsa fans before but because of ways I think specific people have deliberately misrepresented the text and omitted parts of passages or context in a way that’s very misleading—which is not something specific to Jonsas. In fact, I’ve tried to call attention (albeit on anon) to j*nerys (censoring so fans don’t find this post) fans making reaches about foreshadowing and how it seems like hypocrisy to say that jonsas make reaches without considering alternative interpretations to some of their favorite passages (i.e., I’ve said that the vision of the blue rose in the house of the undying is not necessarily foreshadowing for romance and may be unrelated to D entirely, given that some of her other visions aren’t related to her at all, like the red wedding) and I was basically just attacked and laughed at. However, I always tag my posts that seem negative about a character or a ship or fans of the character or ship with anti tags to make sure that people can filter them out, even if the post isn’t really an anti post. I used to have a bit in my pinned about hating Jonsa but I don’t hate it anymore. I’m just neutral to it. What I don’t like is people posting misleading stuff but again it’s not like Sansa fans are the only ones guilty of that. Anyway. This is all to ask if you’d be willing to unblock if I send my url to you. If not, that’s perfectly alright and I’ll unfollow from my main
I am very free with the block button so it may have been a particular post of yours or you just being in the notes of a vitriolic post I found particularly objectionable. Or me going "they would probably not enjoy my content, let me protect them pre-emptively". So don't wonder too much about it. My block list is... big and impersonal.
Send me your url and I'll unblock you, no worries. 😊

Thought this might give you some food for thought: I’m anti j*nrya and anti j*nsa on the grounds of incest but I like J*nerys. And here’s why. Our brains identify our relatives based on our lives experience with them, not actual blood shared. The material experience and lived relationships we have with other people are not changed by learning that there is blood shared or not shared. That’s why Jon still loved Dany when he found out they were related, even though he was uncomfortable with it. It didn’t dissolve the way his brain categorized her (as a non relative) based on experience. Likewise, Jon finding out that his siblings are actually his cousins isn’t going to make him suddenly able to be attracted to them because his whole life his brain has categorized them as relatives. When he meets and bonds with Dany, they have no idea. This is why it’s actually pretty uncommon for lifelong childhood friends raised side by side to end up together. Their experience is likely to have led their brains to classify each other as relatives. This all isn’t meant to change your mind or anything like that, but I’ve had people question how I can be against J*nsa, J*nrya, D*emyra, etc but like Jonerys
You have an interesting point of view, but I respectfully disagree entierly for a few reasons. First being, it scientifically is actually based off of blood. We are genetically hardwired to be sexually and romantically repulsed by our blood relatives, because it is a survival instinct against inbreeding.
It's why most long lost relatives are not accidentally attracted to family members before learning of their relation. We are genuinly hardwired in our DNA and genetic code to be repulsed by those who share within those sets of genetics. We can detect invisible markers that our conscious minds do not know about that indicate a similarity in blood relatives and will repulsed immediately. It's why incest is so abnormal, because it is biologically unnatural to be attracted to members of your family even if you don't know they are your blood relatives.
It's why the Targaryean incestual practices made them extinct, because it is unsustainable. We are biologically opposed to inbreeding because of the serious medical complications and issues of infertility. If I breed with my uncle, we share too many of the same genetic markers. Meaning that whatever rare syndromes or diseases we carry hereditary genes of, need to be matched with a partner that does not carry a hereditary ability to pass those rare conditions on. If I breed with my uncle we are too similar and it increases the chance a child would inherit those rare conditions because they did not have a second parent that could cancel out the hereditary genes. It's why we are almost never attracted to any blood relative, it is a survival instinct coded within our very dna.
Meaning it doesn't matter if Jon had no idea he was related to her, there is a 99% chance Jon naturally would not have any attraction to her because biology would already be warning him of the red flags his internal sensors are picking up of similar genetic traits. He also would likely be horrified because Dany is related to him in the exact way Jon thought he was related to Lyanna (meaning having sex with a woman who is his aunt likely would leave him traumatized since he just learned a woman he thought was aunt is actually his mother). She's his aunt in the exact way Benjen was his uncle, and he grew up both not raised to think incest is normal and he follows the old gods which strongly condemns it. He psychologically would have trauma learning he was related to her after having sex with her.
Also, being transparent, Dany being related to him is literally like one of the last reasons I have against them as a ship. My argument is Jon would oppose her as a human being because she stands for everything he finds monstrous, and their entire relationship is abuse and any subsequent sex is rape.
I outline a lot of this in this post and this post if you were curious.
I respect your choice to ship it but I fundamentally disagree with any argument of Jon ever being attracted to her for multiple reasons.
I think he would never be attracted to her, like her, or respect her. And I think their show relationship is gross and abusive, and rape.
The incest is just the icing on the 'no' cake.
#thank you for the ask really#i enjoy explaining my opposition to popular jon ships like this because a lot of the discussions are very hostile#so i appreciate you coming with a point of view in such a calm and collected manner#jon snow#anti jonerys#anti daenerys targaryen#game of thrones#asoiaf#a song of ice and fire#tw incest#incest tw

Something just occurred to me...
Please let me know if someone else has pointed this out at some point and I’ll link them, they’ve probably articulated it better than me anyway, but...
"In Astapor the city took a tenth part of the price, each time a slave changed hands," Missandei told her.
"We'll do the same," Dany decided. Wars were won with gold as much as swords. "A tenth part. In gold or silver coin, or ivory. Meereen has no need of saffron, cloves, or zorse hides." - ASOS, Daenerys VI
Then we have this...
"Would you set my dancers to digging ditches as well? Sweet queen, when he saw me, my old friend fell to his knees and begged me to buy him as a slave and take him back to Qarth.”
She felt as if he'd slapped her. "Buy him, then." - ADWD, Daenerys III
That isn’t just some petulant throw away statement from her. Daenerys would get a “tenth part of the price”. She knows this. She is trying to make a profit off of slavery even when she is being called out on her hypocrisy in regards to slavery.

It’s not a very fair comparison of Tyrion’s wit and D’s dragons. What Tyrion has, his wits, wasn’t something that was given to him. Yes, Tyrion was always smart and he recived a proper education but where he’s at now in his intelligence took years of continuous improvement. “A mind needs books like a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge. That’s why I read so much”
It’s not a separate physical thing that can be taken from him in the way the dragons are separate a separate physical beings that are able to be taken away from Daenerys. And how Daenerys obtained those eggs weren’t something she had to work very hard for either. They were a wedding gift and we know she didn’t have to go on some grand quest to get them. Yes, D is the reason dragons are alive, (Which was already stated by the author himself to be a dangerous thing.) But that isn’t the point Nikolaj is trying to make here. He’s asking a very valid question. Without dragons, what is Daenerys Targaryen? The interviewer seemed almost at lost for words and the first thing that came to mind was her DRAGONS.
And, as it was pointed out, what is left of D without her dragons? A competent ruler? No. Battle commander? No. Skilled fighter? No. Politician? No. Daenerys knows she lacks all of these things and a 99% of the time she uses DRAGONS as a means of payment and power. She was able to gain access into Qarth because they wanted her DRAGONS. If it weren’t for them, D and the rest of her crew would have died long ago in the Red Waste. The dragons have become Daenerys main crutch and it’s hard to say where she would be without them. She even tries locking her dragons away. But that proved too hard of a task and ultimately she frees her dragons to solve all her problems and we’ve rarely seen her work without them. In the time she does try to solve problems based solely on her skills as a political leader, it always fails and she must resort to the dragons.
Daenerys herself even states her family would be nothing without their dragons. She worries about the idea of her not being special and even acknowledges she would be just like everybody else.
You say she inspires loyalty. I suppose that’s true in someway. Characters like Jorah, Missandei, and Greyworm would all die for D. However, when it comes to the rest of her subjects, that’s a different story.
#1 The Unsullied army she gained control of don’t really know her. She came over to Astapor looking to BUY them. After she promised a dragon to their master, she successfully tricks him and obtains the whip needed to control all of the Unsullied without question. “You hold the whip.” She then orders they kill all of the masters left in Astapor and gives a big speech on how they may leave if they wish and now they are all free man. But, are they really? The Unsullied army are not like the Free Folk whom fight for their own beliefs and benefits. The Unsullied army are made up of abused men who were kidnapped as children and forced to fight their entire lives. They do not know any other way to life. What were they even going to do after D “freed” them? Leave? Where? With no ships, coin, or direction? D asked that they fight for her and fighting is what they were groomed to do. It begs the question when D asked them to fight, was there really a better choice?
#2 The Dothraki. The Dothraki are a lot more independent than say the Unsullied. However, I wouldn’t exactly say D inspired loyalty in them. In season 1 a majority of the able bodied people left prier to D hoping in Drogo’s pyre. And the few more capable people who were left only stayed to honor Khal Drogo. At the end of season 6, D is left with no dragons, coin, or any means of survival. She’s then captured by the Dothraki. Thankfully, she was safeish when she told the new Khal leader she was the widow of Khal Drogo. Afterwards, when Jorah and Daario come and break her out, she makes a plan that will essentially put her as the one and only Khal. She has the doors to the temple locked and just murders all of the leaders till she’s the last one left. Sound like anyone you know? *Cough* Cersei *Cough* She then steps out of the flames unharmed and everyone kneeling to her. Why? Not because she inspired loyalty into them. The Dothraki follow power. Only power. And she made herself their god. It’s a superficial reason to gain their backing. And we have yet to see a single Dothraki state why they follow her other than she has dragons and can walk through flames.
#3 The Second Sons. Yeah, she didn’t gain their loyalty either. They are paid sellswords and Daario was the one who murdered his partners to gain control of the Second Sons, and then turn that power over to D. And Daario doesn’t even see D as a good ruler. He even states “You’re not made to sit on a throne. You’re a conqueror, Daenerys Stormborn.”
#4 Tyrion did not come to D because he believed in her. He came to her because he had no other choice. He was a fugitive who just murdered his father and the hand to the King. He point blanks asks Jorah why she would make a better choice for queen and Jorah is unable to give him a clear answer. I believe that at the end of season 6 Tyrion did start to believe Dany was the right choice for throne. But after season 7, specifically after he saw the destruction she caused, it’s quite clear he’s even questioning Daenerys choices and struggles with the guilt he feels for overlooking the choices D is making.
There’s about a handful of people left in the story who actually believe D is right for throne. If she inspired loyalty as you claim, I think this scene in season 7 contradicts that very statement.
After her first speech of “We will leave this world a better place than we found it.” Only a few men bend But look who gets the real progress
DROGON. After he screeches the majority of men follow. Hmm, that sure does look like loyalty to me.
Jaime did kill his cousin. An act that I will not justify. However, the situations are again, drastically different. Jaime was a prisoner of war and he used it as a chance to escape a camp full of men wanting him dead. Dany, on the other hand, has killed many people she did not have to and not all were because they did not bend. In season 5, D takes a handful of masters down into the dungeons and feeds a potentially innocent man to her dragons. Why? Because she was proving a point to the rest of the masters. She threatened to burn down whole cities based on the actions of their leaders. Yes, there are loads of characters who did the same. But unlike Jaime’s situation, this war and the murders of both Randyll and Dickon Tarly were entirely preventable. She didn’t do it to escape. She did it because they would not bend. Hmm...doesn’t that sound like Stannis? The guy everyone bagged on for burning Mance for the same reason?
“But it’s not like she takes pleasure in it.”
I don’t know...
The reactions of the other people are horrified and one man even covers his face. However, D looks on almost mesmerized by it.
Yeah, she definitely doesn’t look like she’s taking any pleasure in this. It should only take more than a few seconds to burn them? Really? THAT is your argument as to why burning them isn’t so bad? What about the Tarly men running around in their armor seconds after being lit up? Screaming? Plus, they are in ARMOR. They would be literally boiled alive. Fire as a means of execution is not something that is tolerated in Westeros. When Jon sees Mance about to be burnt, he takes it upon himself to defy Stannis and put Mance out of his misery. It’s one of the most painful ways to die and she could have easily chosen beheading that is a lot quicker and more decent in Westeros society. But, that’s not Daenerys way anymore.
“She’s freed slaves.” And about those slaves, which ones? The ones in Astapor or Yunkai? The ones who were left unarmed and without a stable economy once D left? They were retaken shortly after without D’s dragons.
In Meereen? The ones who again, where left without a stable economy so bad they were stealing from each other and beating each other up for food? That conditions were so bad they wanted to sale themselves back. Oh, but after D took a cut.
“And is literally the only character who thinks about other people.”
Um? What? The ONLY character who cares about the common folk. What about Arya? Sansa? Jon? Was it after she burnt all the food stalked for winter? You know, The crates thousands of COMMON FOLK were relying on to keep them from starving? Or maybe it was Yara whom D didn’t even bring up to Euron about releasing her? Or the Sand Snakes? Whom she never mentions by name. Even when their captor was standing right in front of her. She simply says all her allies are gone because if they aren’t useful, then it doesn’t matter. Oh, maybe it’s all of mankind? With the threat of the Night King and his army getting closer, of course D would care about them! Nah. She only told Jon the places she’s conquered are equal to everyone up North who will be hit first. She also refused to help Jon in the fight unless he bent the knee. Yeah, she cares so much.
Continue to love Daenerys all you want. Just don’t expect those who don’t to question why Daenerys Targaryen is even fit for the role she thinks she was born for.
NIKOLAJ: Who do you think deserve the throne?
INTERVIEWER: For me, Daenerys
NIKOLAJ: Why?
INTERVIEWER: Because I love her. I love Daenerys
NIKOLAJ: But why?
INTERVIEWER: Because I love her
NIKOLAJ : Why do you love her?
INTERVIEWER: Because she had the, the greatest power… (?)
NIKOLAJ: Okay, because she kills thousands of people, she burns them alive, That’s why you love her?
INTERVIEWER: Yes, and she has three dragons.
NIKOLAJ: Oh, so you all about, you like that guy who’s like “oh, but he’s got such a cool car, man that’s why I like him”. Take the dragons away what does she have?
INTERVIEWER: She has, hmm… Great eyes.
NIKOLAJ: Oh, she’s got great eyes! “She’s hot man!”
This is the same type of shit we encounter when we ask dany stan what makes her a good queen. Nikolaj gets it, be like Nikolaj.

D*ny Stan’s are trying to flip the first meeting I the clip into a positive “Sansa and D are going to love each other” moment when anyone with eyes could see it wasn’t. D*aensa ship is again at its peak and people are trying desperately to pretend D isn’t a pretentious entitled child and that it broke sansas heart to say that trash. You’re not a Sansa fan, your just the usual fake ass Dany Stan. Can these fake bitches just stop and be honest. Youre not fooling anyone with this shit. We see you.
I hate D*ensa with all my heart, it has all the problems and toxicity of J*nerys minus the incest. As I said on twitter I’d rather Sansa to be bff with Gilly or Brienne, I’m rooting for her to have female friends, really… Just not with those who endangers her country independance or her people lives.
#anti aegony#that tag is really for everything anti d@ny related#it includes d@ny herself as well as j*nerys and now d*ensa#asks#my posts

Could you maybe list the things that makemJon and Dany incompatible?
Dear nonny,
where to start? One of my mutuals suggested I should just answer with a gif of “Read the books”, but I assume your question is genuine. To me it is very obvious, but I thought long about this (from book two onwards) and since the PoV trap can be so alluring it might not be as obvious as I think it is.
I think it is very important to note that in principle Jon and Da€nerys have only seemingly parallel arcs. Their parallels are not parallels, but juxtapositions. They are foils.
To give you some examples. In the first book both enter a hitherto unknown world. Jon enters the Night Watch and Dany becomes part of the Dothraki. Both have to adopt to the situation and come to terms with their helplessness and regain agency. Da€nerys has it harder in book one/season 1, but afterwards it is Jon who has a tough time. Both have a Mormont as a tutor etc. you name it. There are several tidbits that tie them together, but these are superficial similarities. They are meant to get the reader’s attention and set him on a path, so that they don’t realise it is a path that leads to a cul-de-sac, a red herring.
To sum it up, in book one Jon gets friends, Da€nerys gets followerrs.
In ASOS Da€nerys becomes Queen by conquering with her dragons, her unsullied and her sell-swords. Jon becomes Lord Commander by election.
Another example is the situation in ADWD. Da€nerys is confronted with the different culture of Mereen, and how she can become a fitting queen, while Jon’s arc is mostly about the wildlings, and how they can be brought into the fold with Stannis and the North. While Da€nerys thinks herself superior to the Mereenese, Jon has a genuine respect for the culture of the wildlings. Even though he aims at integrating them into the Northern culture and even demands of them to get rid of some of their customs, he has a good understanding of the core of the wildling identity. Da€nerys on the other hand continuously thinks in a derisive manner about the Mereenese.
Now, GRRM hides this well. I mean, readers tend to like the free folk, their reluctance to kneel, their sassy way to speak their mind etc. and the Mereenese are portrayed as an ‘exotic’ culture with some traits, that disgust Da€nerys and that might be difficult for the average Western reader - eating dogs for example. I don’t think that this is GRRM’s prejudice speaking her, I rather think it is hiding Da€nerys’ inability to respect other cultures by giving that culture strange traits. I would draw your attention to the fact that the Mereenese have a certain headdress for the queen, that Da€nerys thinks is ridiculous and that she calls the ‘floppy ears’, often linked with rabbit imagery. The reader might think the ‘floppy ears’ is a funny witticism, but it shows Da€nerys’ problematic disrespect for the culture she wants to rule.
I could go on and on....
And now for the fundamental difference. Da€nerys cares about her own goal, which is the Iron Throne. That does not prevent her from having occasional bouts of conscience, kindness, and compassion, but she never cares enough to put her goals behind the wellfare of others. The Lamb people in the first book would never have been raped and pillaged if Da€nerys simply had let go of her desire to get the Iron Throne. That she saves some girls from rape does not really help her case in my eyes. Da€nerys does not save for the sake of saving. She is an accidental saviour and uses this for her PR. I just remind you, that she set the Unsullied free because she has no money to buy them - how convenient, and afterwards they serve her and as far as I know they never get any salary? So, where should they turn if not to their new mistress?
Jon on the other hand is driven by ulterior motives, for the good of the watch, the good of the realm, the good of all humanity. That does not mean that he completely forgets about his own wishes, nor does it mean that he can’t be a shrewd negotiator (and he is that, he won’t just let the Wildlings in, he haggles with Tormund until he turns blue). In ADWD we see him juggling his responsibilities and trying to save fArya and support Stannis to rescue Winterfell from the Boltons, even if not for himself. And in the end he fails spectacularly, but that does not diminish the observation that even if he is after a goal of his own (rescuing fArya), he still is after the wellbeing of another person.
So narcistic personality meets ulterioristic personality. That does not necessarily mean that they could not fall in love, but it does mean that their relationship is doomed. They are incompatible. And as a Jon fan I would not want for him to stay with a person who is bound to exploit him.
Thanks for the ask!
#anon ask#Anti-Daenerys#Why are Jon and D incompatible#Anti-Jonerys#This was tagged anti with a hyphen and should not show up in a search for the tag Da€nerys#Da€nerys is an accidental saviour#Da€nerys is a conqueror#Jon is a negotiator

Which part of that underdeveloped, flat, chemistry-less ‘relationship’ is wholesome??? Is it the part where it’s between an entitled pyromaniac and the man who she was willing to fuck AFTER he rolled over and gave her everything she felt she was entitled to? Is it the part where she imprisoned him in an island until he let her have her way which would have been outrageous if the genders had been switched? Or is it the incest that you find so romantic? “Jon*rys is sooooo cute and healthy!!!!!” Bitch they share like 75% of their DNA and have nothing in common, shut the fuck up.

Itwasmycroftbbc pointed out that Daenerys wasn't a true queen. She just decided to call herself one. She never set on the IT, so she wasn't Qot7K. She also never ruled the North and despite Jon seemingly bending the knee, no one else followed suite. She couldn't even claim to be Queen of Meeren anymore since she abandoned them and they were no doubt not missing her. So, no, Daenerys was not a queen. Rather, she was a queen claimant who never actually ruled unlike Cersei, Sansa, or Yara.
I see no lies, nonny and @itwasmycroftbbc is absolutely right. Daenerys was no actual queen if we are being technical. I know titles are thrown around a lot when it comes to Daenerys and they are often changing and growing. First she wasn’t a queen, but a khaleesi and then queen of Meereen and the “rightful” queen of the Seven Kingdoms. Daenerys was, as you said, a queen clement. She never sat the throne nor was she ever crowned. She wasn’t even crowned in Meereen, either. But she conquered the city and everyone called her “Your Grace.” So we can give her that. But she left the city behind for greater conquests ahead so is a queen who abandoned her people and throne really a queen?
Westeros however is a completely different story. She could stake her claim of course but she wasn’t the rightful heir. Jon’s existence took that away and even if he wasn’t around, the Targaryens lost the throne the same way they acquired Westeros in the first place through right of conquest. The entire time I had fans yelling at me about pathbreaking and treason and how Sansa commited “Treason” against her “rightful queen” baffled me when she only called herself one. Jon bent the knee but did anyone in the North really treat her as such? She didn’t have any love or respect in the North and half the time no one even listened to her. When it came down to it it was Sansa and Jon who held the real power and loyalty of the North.
Not only was she never an actual queen, she didn’t act like one, either. She liked the titles and the power it gave her but when it came to the work needed for such a position Daenerys grew bored of it wanting a go at fresh lands she hadn’t pillaged and destroyed. Some queen if you ask me.
