Lwj. 😬 ok i don’t vehemently Hate him, i still like him, but sometimes i just wanna. punch a wall when it comes to him and his fans (mostly wngxian stans bc there are lwj stans that ship him with jc or other charas that r super cool). but the vocal anti jc w@ngx!an/lwj crowd can be so hateful and nasty that it makes me resentful bc lwj is not without fault as a character or as a partner to wwx but the majority of fandom treats him like a perfect god 🙄 but then again mxtx herself wrote lwj that way intentionally (even if her writing doesnt support that intention) so i can't be too angry abt it???? //head in hands

u kno what i’m not gonna say something easy like traumatizing event number 789 that happened to wwx/jc or the fact that Jin Ling is an orphan. I’m gonna say it’s the fact that lwj didn’t leave Gusu Lan Sect after wwx kicked the bucket. Or that he wasn’t banished bc ✨privilege✨. imagine how much more compelling his storyline would have been if he didn’t have all of that money and power and respect after wwx’s resurrection? If he were just a wandering cultivator that helped people like xxc? i know i sound like a lwj hater rn but i’m just really critical of him bc he had it so easy compared to the rest of the cast (yes, he did suffer but not nearly as much tbh) and i truly do enjoy wngxian but after reading other danmei their love story does not compel me as much when i first read mdzs :')

10. worst part of fanon

the fact that a lot of people genuinely believe that wwx is jc’s brother and refer to them as brothers in a canon setting and then get grossed out/mad when people ship chengxian. And dgmw i like headcanoning them as adopted siblings for modern AUs and stuff but definitely not for canon verse settings. They are canonically martial siblings and later subordinate and leader, but there’s no real good way to define exactly what they are to each other because their bond is so incredibly complex and layered.

Honestly, I love his anger. No, it isn't pretty. Yeah, he's probably not pleasant to be around for most people. But I find that so... human. And relatable too. His flaws and pettiness, his anger, they're all so understandable and relatable to me.

I could say WWX, because I do love to write WWX as JC's gremlin BFF in my sangcheng fics, but if we're being honest, I also think canonically they are way too intense about each other to be "brotp" (honestly I'm a closet chengxian enjoyer).

So I'm going to say I think JC and NMJ would get along really well and would really enjoy going for a beer together in modern aus.

As far as headcanons and fanfic, sangcheng. I love them together. I'm obsessed with them. Still going over 3 years later, I've written more fic for them than for any other ship. At heart, it's the teenage friends to lovers aspect, but also that they each, on their own have gone through so much loss and pain and anger... including JC's anger at NHS for putting Jin Ling in danger, no, I never forget THAT. But I think after all that, they can understand each other better than most. They can understand the anger and pain and what you are willing to do for that.

And then if speaking strictly canon-based, there's chengxian, which is... everything that it is. Which is SO much. I don't write fic for it or seek it out, but I did very much go through the book reading JC as in love with WWX.

Also, it REALLY fits Jiang Cheng.

Don't care. Chengxian is still one of the biggest ships in the fandom and the two's actions had way more impact on the story than Lan Zhan ever did tbh. I also find it funny that it still proves our point. That Wangxian is the weakest pairing out of her main couples (I said what I said. No hate to Lan Zhan, but I'm not the only person who shares this sentiment!)

Also love how these antis even acknowledge MXTX trying to defend JC when he received misguided hate during his first appearance. Perhaps you should listen to her insistence and give the character a chance first before y'all misjudge him? Lmao.
