Why should I bother to read something that you couldn't be bothered to write? I genuinely am curious. If you couldn't take 5 minutes to write me that email or whatever why should I have to spend 5 minutes reading it. Also AI just sucks in general
i literally dont care what your excuse for using AI is. if you didnt put your own effort into making it im not putting my own effort into interacting with it.

chatgpt is the coward's way out. if you have a paper due in 40 minutes you should be chugging six energy drinks, blasting frantic circus music so loud you shatter an eardrum, and typing the most dogshit essay mankind has ever seen with your own carpel tunnel laden hands

Being a fan of stories that revolve around robots or AI in the 21st century is so weird now. Like how do I tell people I'm the biggest fictional robot appreciator and the biggest real life robot hater

It's very worrying that the younger generation is heavily reliant on ChatGPT. Critical thinking, media literacy and analytical thinking skills are crucial so seeing people use ChatGPT to "think" for them is just unfathomable...
AI supporters will argue that ChatGPT is like any other tool to use but it’s not!!!! Not when it takes away your ability to think for yourself.

If y’all needed any more proof that AI chatbot apps are extremely predatory and intentionally exploit vulnerable people…
Tumblr media
For context, I have been open on this account about my chatbot addiction. I developed a parasocial dependency to using Character AI and similar apps despite them being detrimental to my mental health and quality of life in general. I downloaded CAI again today to finally wipe my account and discourage myself from relapsing, and this fucking text came up while I was confirming the deletion.
The developers of these apps are not your friends, they are exploiting you. They are manipulating your emotions and fostering dependency to keep you addicted to their product. No matter how much they claim to care and be “risk aware,” they absolutely do not.
(Image ID: a screenshot of the Character AI account deletion confirmation screen. The popup reads: “…you sure about this? You’ll lose everything. Characters associated to your account, chats, the love that we shared, likes, messages, posts, and the memories we have together. This action cannot be undone!” Below this block of text is a username entry box, used to confirm account deletion.)

nah this gets its own post:
imagine that someone comes up and compliments you on something - maybe it's your hair, your voice, your clothes, whatever. And you thank them and plan to move on. Then they ask for a little bit of your hair and you go, "okay fine, it's not gonna really hurt to give that" so you give them a couple strands. you'll grow more. whatever.
next week they come up to you again with a clone of your body that they can control like a puppet. "I liked you so much I wanted my own version of you so I can see/hear/talk to you whenever I want!" you would react with horror, right?
Art is inherently a personal creation; the things that you feel, the things you have lived through, your emotions and your skills and your past will affect what you make and how you make it. There is a bit of 'you' in everything you make, and the analogy above is what generative AI feels like to me as a creator. And I'm just a writer/artist. My art isn't a direct representation of me. If I was a supermodel or a voice actor or anyone in the public eye, my analogy is even more spot on with how viscerally horrifying it is to watch someone make a "you" that they can get to use to make whatever they want. say whatever they want. be whatever they want.
and then you have to listen to the people who make or use the clones brag about how much time and money they're saving by making all these clones (who they don't have to treat like people and who can't say no) instead of asking you to do the thing you're best at, at enormous environmental cost to create and power the damn things, all so they can make profit with no effort selling a thing wearing your face...
... so, yeah. I get a little mad about generative AI sometimes.

making fun of people(especially children) for using chatgpt for their emotional support and "therapy" instead of providing them the proper resources they need to get through what they're dealing with is not how you will fix society btw.
covid has devastated a lot of peoples lives, their education, their social life, their understanding of a lot of what many may consider "basic" things. the government has made it hard for children/teens/college kids to know where to get resources or to have places to hang out with friends or even find friends at all.
instead of yelling at people, who will not listen to you yelling at them btw, maybe actually be a part of the change you want to see in the world
share resources, make tutorials on things you think are basic, because i guarantee you there are a lot of people who dont understand how to do those things, share inspiration, encourage community building
a huge problem lately is that activists are going for the extreme "if you do this thing i dont agree with then i hate you and you should die" approach and what do you actually think that will accomplish? dont you think thats the exact same mindset right wingers have?
i know a lot of us are tired and that can make us angry too but do you truly think yelling and insulting and bullying will actually fix society?
this goes for. so many things and not just the AI situation but i saw a post with 80k+ notes encouraging making fun of people who rely on chatgpt for emotional support like okay how about instead of that we do something else
also before anyone asks or assumes this is not a pro ai post okay bye

Can you make a character ai bot
NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT
Sorry, breaking character here for a sec, but please do not do that if you like him at all. Please don't feed him into a meat grinder that will not understand who he is or how much work I've put in him. Please don't take my answers and think you can make more, or even something close to accurate, just because I'm not an art making machine.
Please please please if you have any respect for me, my work, or my OC, never let him near an AI chat bot or generator.

So, y'all remember that post about how poetic it is that AI can't get hands while the oldest human art is our handprints?
Make that our symbol.
Put a hand emoji in your bio if you're against AI art. Symbolise the one thing they can't do. Even if they can. Even if they learn. They can't take that away.

Istg the one thing that got me out of chatbot addiction was realizing how absolutely shit it is compared at roleplaying with an Actual Human Person.
The bot doesn’t know jack shit about media or characters. It will get crucial details completely wrong or leave them out entirely. It will misunderstand your writing. It will forget all the lore you set up. The character it writes as will be completely one-dimensional until it starts getting flirty with you out of completely nowhere. At some point or another, it will stop generating scenarios altogether and start repeating your messages verbatim. And it won’t let you work with any goddamn form of sexuality, angst, or violence without trapping you in an endless loop of “Sorry, We Cannot Generate This Message™”.
AI is fucking lame (and also steals from underpaid writers and is killing the environment). Roleplay with a human.

I am so angry right now. I spent time and bandwidth reading a submission for my writers group this morning. Author mentioned in a not at the top that it was part of a creative collab with "Muse". Who I thought was an actual person.
Nope.
Turns out it was a "collab" with chatgpt.
How fucking insulting. No one else was rankled, but I was. I am. The fact his note wasn't plain feels like I got bamboozled since I am vehemently against chatgpt. I'm not giving my time or attention to anything it touches. Why should I, if the writer couldn't be bothered to write it themselves?
Jesus I'm so mad.
