Tracing a Scar

The collar never came off in front of others, for good reason. It didn't cover everything, but the worst of it stayed hidden beneath the black band of fabric. But still, the longer everything moved on and no one asked, the easier it was to.....forget. Forget that anyone could see it at all. Convince himself he hid it well. The rest of his outfit was fairly strategically placed, maybe the choker did a better job than he thought.

So when he's reading, has the book in his hands and is leaned back in the chair, its such a shock to feel a feathery brush against raised, mottled skin. To feel that index trace the burn, one of the finger shaped scars permanently marring his neck in a spider-webbed pattern of flesh. He shivers and reacts more on instinct than thought, hand snatching the wrist of the source, at a speed he hardly registers. It was a blink, between the book on his lap and his focus fully devoted, and then holding Rachael's wrist and him staring with wide eyes.

A beat passes and he releases her. The current in his head is whipping up into a flurry. "Ah.....sorry. Surprised me, sorry. My neck, it uh....it's okay. Sorry. You're not-- I'm not upset, you're okay it's okay I--" He floundered, pausing a moment to collect himself before his thoughts ran even faster.

A breath in, one long one out. Once more.

".....Sorry. Just... no ones' really-- touched it. Surprised me. I didn't grab you too hard, right...? Sorry about that." He looks away, rubbing at the back of his neck and tangling his fingers at the scalp for a tug.

Iv covered bits of it here, I mostly just say stuff on discord but I don’t put stuff in tumbe much, so:

COVERED: Ask about Ssca Looking For Pterosaurs (novel I’m currently writing)

I have not named the project as a holl, it’s currently called “The Bird Agenda” in my notes (wich is slightly less of a joke than Birdhammer).

Original species: Rikeuninerd Primary world: Ruka, Rike home planet

Obviously the environment changes over time, but the primary setting looks like this >

RUKA Atmosphere: Tropical planet, 72% nitrogen, 27.1% oxygen, 0.9% carbon dioxide. Contains: -Reik, tropical with eroding mountains, it is splitting in half and has shear cliffs that form a “mouth” because of this. -Rakar, Rakar and Scayikra are divided by a mountain range, a *big* mountain range. Rakar is (mostly) a collection of tropical islands, think Indonesia. -Scayikra, the other side of the mountain range, very dry full of canyons and high desert, gradually slopes down into the sea. Star: -Havnt worked out what type/s, but hot -High UV (worse in Scayikraa) Orbit: -1 Ruka year = 100 years years -Seasons are very long cause of this orbit

RIKE Rikeuninerd are a bird like species. Life span: 259 years Size: varies a lot. Shortest is 1.1m. Tallest 2 Sex: 1 (Hermaphrodites) Lays eggs. Many have lost the ability to fly. Diet: Piscivores (mostly). They have the races Reika, Rakara and the more distantly related subspecies Scayikraa (these groups are named after there continents).

ECONOMY Depends on the nation, when Rehy is one nation the economy is a currency-less syndicate, cause that’s how Scayikra worked.

HISTORY Basic overview: majorly my world building follows the Ssca dispute, a 30’000 year long period of political upheaval, war and genocide instigated by Ssca. An important alliance is Rehy, instigated in year 387 by Screea’s Defence Defence to unify Scayikra’s small quasi-states against Yeer (sucky capitalist mercenaries). A vast majority of nations joined Rehy in 1974 as an alternative to the Ra Da Kur and Ssca. Rehy and other nations went into space n expanded territory. Over time all of Ruka’s nations joined Rehy, and eventually National borders became states.

There’s also the Ra da Kur (communist guys), Rak-Reik (superpower before Rehy, fucked Shit up in Scayikra) Kusu (by gods who angered the pacifists), nomads of all shades, all the iterations of Ssca and all the nations that came before the others.

LANG Im currently working on Ascayi. The main language spoken in Scayikra. I plan on working on Rakar continent languages next, and then Akusu wich is a confusing mush of old Rakar langs plus others.

I’m in the process of making a language tree. Iv been procrastinating.

Btw Rehy means “Collected military congregation” or in other words, “military alliance”

31. Describe a scenario in which your character feels most comfortable.

Sitting at his grandmother's farm, there's a small hill, with a tiny house fit for kids, it's scribbled on, and got wear and tear from swords, dog bites and the elements- it's now reclaimed as a house for insects and spiders. Sitting on this small hill Desmond and his best friend sit head to head pointing at stars in the sky and telling each other stories about their goals and wants. Talking about their day and laughing at past experiences. They're happy at this moment!

32. Describe a scenario in which your character feels most uncomfortable.

The hero is now older, old enough to have kids of his own, he's starting to lose loved ones, people get old, people die- he should be happy they can pass away with loved ones surrounding them. But he's not...now all he has is memories, he misses them, spent so much time with them, loves them dearly...life becomes a bit lonelier without them, the thought of it happening one day scares him.

Lily grinned when seeing Jeremiah wasn't paying attention to her, a mischievous little plan forming in her head.

Putting her training to the test, she carefully approached him from behind. She kept her movements as silent as possible, slowly lifting her arms to brace herself for step two.

When she was finally within reach of the (unsuspecting?) man, she lunged to jump on his back. While she was careful not to knock him over if she could help it, she was still dramatic.

Almost immediately after 'impact', she couldn't help but break into giggles, shifting to at least attempt to look at his face. "Hi Jer~" she greeted with playfully exaggerated casualness.

"What the- ah!"

The sudden surprise and sensation of warmth pressed against his back shocked him enough to let out a yelp in surprise, but the familiarity of the voice immediately calmed his instincts.

He adjusts his grip to ensure her safety but doesn't put her down.

"Stars, Lilyyyy! Where did you come from!? How did you manage to be so quiet!?"
