TAGGING SYSTEM

I created this section in Google Docs for every single one of my muses. Below is a link to the symbols I used.

ARC VS VERSE : every single character gets both an arc and a verse that is undecided. Since you can search by both ARC and VERSE, I felt this would make the most sense. A verse is the overreaching section, so for example, SUPERNATURAL is a show, so it gets its own verse. Now for an ARC, I would be putting different sections in for, say, I want Hope to have a soulless arc, then that would be where that would go. Or say I want Hope to have an arc that she has her humanity off, it would fall under the arc section. It's not a big enough theme for me to make it a whole verse.

I can use the tag of no humanity in an arc repeatedly. Combined with, say, searching my Queen of Nola verse and the arc of no humanity, it should give you all of the information written about her no humanity time in said verse. Above picture shows you how I format my verse posts.

CHARACTER ID: This is an overreaching tag that covers pretty much anything written by me for that character, so answered asks, interactions, headcanons, drabbles, etc. all fall in line with this. You could also add it to your visage and musing tags, but I personally don't find that helpful.

This is an example of my tags underneath a reply of mine. More will be explained soon about what everything else means.

This is what I used to tag all the different types of calls I make. So someone can click on, say my meme call, and get to like a call for them to be sent memes.

Any reblogged content went here minus the ask memes, but you could very well put ask memes there as well.

This section is anything related to my set up. Now, I have two different blogs (more to come on why I do that later). This kind of shows you how I break things up.

The extra section is really anything that I couldn't figure out where it might go. So promos, scheduled posts, dash games, etc.

This one feels very self-explanatory. Anything that I personally want saved goes here

This section is anything created by me or something I agree with strongly. Graphics are different than my adventures in ps. The first for me is like character edits, while the second one is maybe asking for opinions or showing people what I am excited for.

I'm not a huge talker in the tags person. However, I do find a few things helpful to point out like when something might be triggering, if one should look at a link I put in my replies, making sure that people know to send the whole prompt not just the symbol (in case it takes me a moment to get it done and I need to know what the instructions for the meme was to prevent deleting a meme because all I see is a symbol or word and therefore have no idea which meme it is attached to. Sending the whole sentence is helpful and doesn't require a two-step process like asking for the meme and the link simultaneously. It is also beneficial to tell people to tell me what muse things are for as well, so that way I am not playing a guessing game.

The potentially triggering topic for me is an overall tag for triggers. I do also break it down into say " clowns tw " as well just for blacklisting purposes. However, the blanket tag covers so that say I forget someone is triggered by something and I forgot to tag it, there is a possibility that this might save it a little bit.

This section of tagging is where I get an overview of things. So, say you aren't looking for any muse's writing in particular that you want to see, but you want to see if we are a good fit to write together. Then you might want to see all my writing, which has answered asks, headcanons, drabbles, and interactions in it. Or maybe you only want to see thread interactions, so you'd go to all replies.

Since there might be a lot of tags (depending on if you are a multiuse or not), I recommend using a Google Docs or a draft post to hold all of your tags for easy keeping.

FORMATTING

The two dividers are from two different sources. The thin one was made by theresourcedhunted, and the thick one was made by dividing by underesources. However, I edited it to remove many of the fancy pieces as I wanted something a tad simpler.

To make my gifs centered without editing them, I use THIS blank space / image.

❝ ❞ is what I use for my dialogue around spoken words. ● A tutorial on making adding coloring to your replies faster without going into the HTML, but a single time. You could always use the few colors tumblr has built in for simplicity.

There are about 4 to 5 spaces between my dialogue and the rest of my text. I'm still trying to figure out what I like personally in that department.

To simplify things, if you use a Windows computer to hotkey and streamline some things, I use aText, a Microsoft Store application. All I have to do is enter a specific combo of letters and words to get a unique key or spacing that I set up myself.

【 ✉️ 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄 】 : this is for any sent messages by my muse. Again, the fancy font is the same one I used in my pinned post. You could use fancy emojis and things. I colored the text of the name and bold it. The actual text is in a small-sized font along with regular normal Tumblr font.

【 📩 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄 】 : this is what I tend to use for messages that my message receives. So, if I am writing a reply that my muse is talking to their friend, but my muse's mother texts them, and I want to show it, that is how I do it.

I personally like to link in headcanons in my replies and things for others to read if needed, share links to songs that might be heard in a reply, or pinterest links to images of maybe the muse's style that is relevant to a reply. I mentioned this in my rules so others know that there will never me links to malware or anything else and is always in good faith.

My formatting doesn't really change for headcanons. I use bolded fonts for the header of each headcanon. Then, bullet points might make it easier for others to find information and read.

every post that I make that isn't a starter tends to follow the same spacing that I mentioned being between my dialogue and using the same bolded font that I always use and was linked above.

Alright, here is a tip. If you have several tags and want to narrow down, say, a certain verse that has headcanons about it, as long as you know what the tag names are, you could enter both tags separated by a + in the middle to get all the posts between two tags (and possibly more, but I have not checked that out). So, if you are really organized tag-wise, then you can easily filter things out.

A/N: the main inspiration for Shawn’s hijinks are from Jerma, from the bone thing (meat grinder bit) to the son thing to the general chaos of the chat. There are far too many character that show up to tag, so if you think you know who the chatters are, feel free to point it out! I haven’t enjoyed writing this much in a long time, and I’d love to write some more for this! (Fun fact: the original name for Shawn’s fans were the clique, so I included that in here.)

Shawn screeched as his chair fell back, taking him with it. Well, him and the unused monitor beside him that just so happened to get caught in his foot. The monitor landed directly on his head with a bonk worthy of Looney Tunes, and Shawn let out an exaggerated groan of pain. He put up one finger and pointed in the general direction of his webcam. “Chat…” he moaned, “clip that right now.”

His Twitch chat did as it was told, spamming both the clips and a picture of Shawn recreating the soyjak meme.

Shawn slowly made his way to his feet, pulling his chair up with him and sitting back down. “Fuck,” he said, “that hurt.” He squinted at the messages left by his chat. “Alright, y’all clipped it, thank you.” He squinted closer. “What the fuck is a ‘bottom jail’? HitmanHart, I think you belong in bottom jail.”

Shawn turned around. “Chat I don’t see anything.”

Scott stifled a laugh and grabbed the water bottle that Shawn had been drinking out of. Shawn went to grab it, only to be met with air.

Scott took off his shirt in an attempt to make Shawn break the character spent so long building up, and when that didn’t work, he took off his pants. He leaned towards Shawn, making the younger man look to the other side of the room. Scott picked up a piece of Shawn’s hair and began to fiddle with it, making him blush.

Shawn highlighted the chat message and his eyes almost bugged out of his skull. He read it out loud, partly for the rest of the stream and partly for Scott, who had to turn his head away to keep from laughing.

“This…” Shawn gestured with his hands to the wrong side of the room, “…cryptid, has chest hair? At least someone’s giving me a description! Is this a collective hallucination or something?”

Shawn read the message then fully exited the game. “Alright buddy,” he started, making Scott give him a look that said ‘there’s no way in fuck you know what this is’, “I’ll have you know I graduated from high school and attended college, as in I was physically there for a year before I dropped out and became a stripper because I was too smart, so I know all about your riddles.”

It took all of Scott’s willpower not to laugh as Shawn prepared to answer the paradox, a look of 100% seriousness etched across his normally goofy face.

“See, if I were to, like, rip one of your bones out and replace it with someone else’s, it’s still you but with someone else’s bone, right? Well, if you kept doing that gradually, then it’s still, y’know, you, right? And I can see your chats now, like ‘well it’s still your brain’ but even if you ripped that out and replaced it, it’s still your skin and muscles, and that remembers shit. So I think it’s still the same ship, yeah.” Shawn crossed his arms, confident that he’d shown up the random member of his chat.

Scott got out of his chair and started to leave the room before remembering the bit that they’d planned. He grabbed Shawn by his ankles and turned him upside down, suspending him in midair as he gently shook him.

“I think Larry is the most fuckable character in the show,” Shawn continued, completely serious in order to keep character and pretending not to notice Scott holding him upside down. Several coins that Shawn had placed there earlier in preparation for the bit started to fall out.

Shawn quickly scrambled back up to his chair as Scott walked away. “Chat, should I play Minecraft? I think I’m gonna kill everything in it though, that sounds more fun than being normal.”

I met my ex-boyfriend there, and things…” Shawn took a deep breath, a rare frown etching its way into his face. “…things didn’t go well with him. He was fired, but I realized I needed something else, so I started streaming, and now this is my full-time job thanks to you guys!” Shawn smiled again, running over to kill a pig.

Apollo refugee here. Most of my Reddit usage was lurking r/196 since it was the only active shitpost sub that was fine with LGBT+ people and didn’t have a weird right-wing undercurrent (also gay people make the best memes). Half the posts were Tumblr and Twitter screenshots anyways. The Discord feels a little too hectic for me, Twitter doesn’t need an explanation, I’m not really sure what Mastodon even is, all the other alternatives have no users, and the sub’s userbase is specifically choosing to move to Tumblr, so I guess I’m here now. I have a few general questions/complaints stemming from years of Reddit brain damage use and being so accustomed to the Apollo interface.

Questions

I see people saying to reblog posts you like because it helps with the “algorithm” (or lack thereof). If so, what’s the point of likes/hearts? In what situation would you want to use one over the other?

Are the comments one long chain like on YouTube? One of the things I liked most about Reddit was the tree structure of comments that made it easy to see who was replying to who.

Does Tumblr have any popular third party apps? Many people considered them necessary for Reddit. I was wondering if there was any of the same sentiment here and how they compare to the official Tumblr app.

Rants/Complaints (feel free to ignore)

The app keeps randomly scrolling me up or down a few posts for no reason.

I can’t hide posts. I got into the habit of hiding most posts so I wouldn’t keep seeing the same thing when I checked it multiple times in a short timeframe.

The banner at the top of the screen and the purple frog one at the bottom when browsing a tag. It makes the already small screen feel very crowded and leaves less room for posts.

Ads. I know they’re a normal feature of any app, but Apollo spoiled me.

I never realized how much of a difference profile pictures made. I didn’t notice it when I switched to Apollo and stopped seeing them, but now that they’re back it feels weird and unsettling. Like every dumb little meme has someone’s face associated with it. Instead of focusing on the mindless content that was probably made in 2 minutes on a Benadryl trip then forgotten about, my brain makes me relate it to a real person, what they look like, how they act, how they see themselves, etc. For no good reason it really bothers me way more than it should.

No moderation for tags. It isn’t like Reddit where everything is an isolated community with managed content. Any unrelated post can have #196 on it and disrupt my meme browsing.

I was like HM HM I MIGHT BE GETTING MANIC AGAIN and my therapist was like "oh dw :) we're here for you" starting to suspect that people don't know what it looks like when people have mental illnesses or the warning signs, like for example, "hey I think I'm experiencing symptoms again"

And like, it's not that I don't think that she's bad at her job- okay no I do kinda think that she should have been more concerned. I think the difference between a therapist and a compassionate third party who patiently listens is she's supposed to be honest when I'm going insane and help prevent me from doing problems. And that does require a degree of honesty from me- which is not typically something I give but I did this time x2 so I feel?? Miffed? There's a difference between invasively controlling a non-cooperative person, because it will repel them from ever getting help, but it's another to hear someone say OKAY CUFF ME BOSS and being like is prison really the right thing for you? Just take the win and move on please

I think when someone isn't fitting the picture of disruptive they're not ringing the bells for therapist that say "could be a threat to oneself or others" but there are other problems that that are more nuanced than that and mitigating them is how to prevent the other bit. I had known I was feeling like a shaken cat for months and I wished she had done something, and I only know now that this morning I woke up and the idea of doing anything was like trying to do jumping jacks underwater that I realized that, oh shit so that's what I've been on about for months.

And the most difficult thing is that like, what am I supposed to do?? What am I supposed to do? There's only so much I can tolerate from myself, and the iron will of steel to manage my (greatly increased) emotional range while depressed can only go so far with mania. This is not the first time I've asked myself this question and it sucks and I hate it.

And like, small mercies that I don't do some of the stuff that other people do (alcohol binges, unsafe sexual behaviors, blowing on my money on dumb shit- I've figured out how not to do that at least which is minor progress, and the most I did was buy a sports bra instead of an external hard drive because I knew I wouldn't have time to back things up in the next month anyways, totally normal decision to make). But I'm tired of being in this dumb loop of getting whipped up into a frenzy, making a string of horrible bad decisions, and then waking up at rock bottom again. It's not "progress" or "a sign of problems I need to work out." (Things my therapist said) Imagine saying a toddler upset they dropped their food on the floor is evidence of "supply chain issues." This kind of supportive counseling is something that applies to people who aren't chained down by this horrible gremlin that bites people until it gets bored and leaves. And maybe I'm doing the thing in the words meme where I'm picking up topics so the gremlin can't use them like a stick to hit people with- but like. No. There is infinite things to discourse about. I'm not going to make this large of an error infinite times in my life. I'm sure people have made their piece with being human in this way but I've yet to manage it. There is a level I need to expect from myself, and I need external checks because otherwise my internal checks will cease functioning. I thought I could try and like, shore up skills but the most I did was noticing I was getting anxious and seeking help, which isn't good to prevent the problems of not receiving help and treatment.

And like, I sooort of get the thing people are saying like, "oh you're holding yourself to a kind of perfectionist standard, everyone has bad days!" Except I don't have """bad days""" when I'm depressed. When I'm depressed I have a hard time summoning the energy to be anything but mildly amused at YouTube comments section, a la "here's a guy with free time." When I'm manic, everything is irritating all of the time, I have no patience for anything I suck up praise I get as holdover from being a Decent Person when I'm depressed and use it to justify getting More irritated like ~how dare someone mildly inconvenience me personally.~ The biggest problem is that it doesn't look that way on the outside and I never phrase.it that way because I know that's wrong, it's always something that can on the surface read as justified until you open the AITA thread only realized I'm basically Throwing Out The Socks Guy. And sure, I can at some point no longer be manic and accept that I can fail at anything and get the "now that's growth" meme, but in the moment this is not the case and what people often miss in those scenarios is that like. . . sustained change is more important than incidental problems, and many of these guys go on to fundamentally considering the issues in a new light. Four months ago I just go right back on the idiot train. I'm not seeing evidence of sustained change. This has happened twice (2 times) and I'm not willing to allow a third or even fourth time.

And like, charitably, this is perhaps an issue of experiencing depression starting in middle school. My capabilities for emotional regulation that is beyond "sad and kind of numb" to "sadder and even more numb" is basically non-existent, or at least functionally like I haven't grown up beyond Exploding like middle schoolers do when having two co-occuring emotions at the same time. While that's understandable for someone half my age, it's not so for me, a full adult. Uncharitably, I'm too willing to do the immature things like staying up late and eating sugary snacks rather than complete meals that throw my moods out of wack when I'm manic, making my mania worse, and slacking on my routine is the first to go because I get Anxious first.

My next therapy appointment is going to be about;

Figuring out a system where someone who is not me can tabulate some level of behavior from me (maybe related directly to the problem) to figure out when mania is hitting

A way to break mania before it gets to a certain level

Medication for mania- it looks like benzos might be the best bet, because they're not qualified to do the tests necessary for lithium at my prescription place and I don't want to start lithium so close to moving now anyways. I'm going to try leaving a voicemail on Saturday to see if I can get an appointment with my new psychiatrist earlier to see about getting a prescription on standby for a short duration to take when I go Nuts and hopefully have them for when I move in case it happens before I see my next psychiatrists

God help me do any of that when my head is full of cotton and I want to nap 18 hours a day

Writing all this is like - do I think bipolar is natural? A social construct? Social model of disability? I don't know frankly. I think of it as a form of mineral deficiency that makes people insane, which certainly needs treatment. I think the idea that bipolar is purely manifested by our understanding (like the arbitrary difference between ADHD and autism) is inaccurate, the same way I think allergies and COVID are fundamentally different things- which is to say I don't think bipolar fits into Mental Illness Syndrome Soup like many other things do. Reblogging is the way that we share content on tumblr. If you click this in your notes (the notifications) you will be brought to the post on my blog. You’ll notice that your name will be above the sections that you have written, and my name will be above the section I’ve written. This is how we differentiate who makes what parts of a post.

If someone was to like or reblog this post from my blog, it will show up in both of our notifications; me, because they are interacting with my blog, and you because they’re interacting with your post. It isn’t reposting information, its just the way that content is shared on this website!

Replying is when you want to tell the original poster something, but don’t want to put it on your blog for whatever reason, or don’t want any of your followers/other people to see it. You can only see people’s replys if you open the notes of a specific post, which is in the bottom left.

The other big thing about reblogs is tagging. Reblogging not only shares the post with all your followers, it also allows you to save it for you to find later! The easiest way to do this is with tags. Lets say you really like cool rocks, so whenever you see a picture of a cool rock, you reblog it. If you wanted to, you could tag every picture of a cool rock with “cool rock” and then, whenever you wanted to see cool rocks, you could go to your own blog and search “cool rock” and boom! every cool rock picture you ever tagged.

Tags are also how we spread content to the rest of the site. Only an original post will show up in the site search feature, so your personal cool rock tab will remain personal. But if you found a posted your own picture of a cool rock and posted it with that tag, it’ll show up in the search of everyone looking for cool rocks! Only the first 5 tags on a post will be visible in the search, and people WILL report you if you spam random tags. (innocent mistakes are one thing, but if you have your post tagged with 40 different things, all of which are popular, and your post doesnt have anything to do with any of them, that’s spamming. Don’t do that.)

Blazing posts is a way for you to sponsor your post and force other people to look at it. Its like 5 bucks and mostly used for memes, or occasionally PSA’s. Or pet pictures. Or commissions. It basically just means that tumblr will put the post on x number of people dashboards (the tumblr home page) with x being dependent on how much you pay. Don’t worry about it, its not super relevant.

As for who you should follow, the OP or the reblogger, the best way to figure it out is to just scroll through their blog for a bit. The OP might have made this one funny post and everything else is some fandom you don’t like, so you don’t follow them. The reblogger might spam a whole bunch of random shit and you don’t want that many posts from the same person in a row. Just click the username and take a look. If you like the content follow, if not, don’t!

A couple tumblr etiquette things I want to mention quickly: You can like and reblog old posts. In fact you should like and reblog old posts, its a vital part of tumblr. We still have posts from 10 years ago that regularly get interacted with, so don’t worry about someone thinking you’re “stalking” them or whatever it is people think on instagram.

The next biggest thing is you do not ask someone to change what they post. You can ask to have certain things tagged! But do not go on someone else’s blog and ask them to stop posting supernatural stuff because you followed them for cool rocks. You can unfollow if it gets annoying, or you can do what most of us seem to do and stick it out. There’s no shame in unfollowing or blocking though; there isn’t a public follow/follower list so you won’t get called out or whatever.

Help! I Am Experiencing The Highly Predictable and Eminently Logical Consequences of My Decision Not To Get Vaccinated And People Are Acting Like It's All My Fault!

My best friend is getting married outside of the US. I am her only bridesmaid/maid of honor and we have been best friends for 15+ years. Because of covid, things have been rocky. I have not been vaccinated. She has. The border is only letting vaccinated US citizens in. Therefore I cannot go. She basically hates me because I won’t get vaccinated. I’ve tried to explain my reasoning, but she honestly doesn’t care and has tunnel vision for the pro-vax. I feel like I am losing my best friend because of this. I plan on scheduling a photo shoot for us in her wedding dress and me in my bridesmaid’s dress for when she returns. I’m just not sure what else to do.

Dear (Former) Maid Of Honor,

It's reportedly been a rough 18 months, hasn't it? You see just hundreds and thousands of news reports — who knows if you can believe them! — about a "global pandemic" killing "millions" of people, supposedly over 700,000 people in the United States alone, but it's a little hard to square that with your personal gut feeling that COVID is just not that big of a deal! So it's really hard to know who to trust right now — on the one hand, we have near-universal agreement from medical experts and professional and governmental entities from around the globe that deadly COVID can largely be prevented with a very safe vaccine that is accessible widely in the United States, but on the other hand, this email forward from your brother-in-law's buddy says that mainlining a horse dewormer is the only way to protect yourself from the worldwide vaccine cabal! (And by the way, have you invested in the gold standard? Just something to think about, no pressure to buy now!)

Your bestie is honestly being a pretty big baby about not wanting to subject herself or others to a likely carrier of a deadly disease, or at least, that's probably what doctors and other sheeple would say. Some people, sadly your bestie included, get all het up about "the best medical science and knowledge available," and totally ignore the grainy meme their best friend saw on Facebook. And to top it off, she's letting this so-called peer-reviewed research that shows vaccines prevent serious COVID in the vast, vast majority of cases dictate the way she hosts a sizable group gathering of potential carriers and victims and everyone they know or even interact with? Come on! Talk about tunnel vision blocking out what really matters — having a party with you at it!

You made the free and full decision not to get vaccinated and that is simply not your fault, and you should not be held responsible for making this decision just because it's a decision you made on purpose, based on your own judgment, as a result of something you wanted specifically to do. What's more, your best friend, of all people, shouldn't try to make it your fault by having a destination wedding in a country that sounds like it is also going out of its way to oppress you personally by asserting some kind of sovereign right to govern itself. No one here is looking at the big picture, except for you — which means you're the only one seeing and standing up to the mass global vaccine conspiracy, engineered by hundreds and maybe even thousands of evil masterminds across time and geography and politics. Come to think of it, it sort of sounds like your best friend might be in on it. Why else would she decline to put herself and her loved ones at risk of contracting a dangerous virus? What other reasons could she possibly have to conduct her own fucking wedding on her own fucking terms, if not because she hates you personally for being so smart and free? She's being manipulated by the jab squad! This has deliberately engineered, decades-old pro-vax scheme written all over it!

Regardless of whether your best friend has been brainwashed by a vast and wide-ranging medical conspiracy, the bottom line is this: choosing not to get vaccinated is your personal choice, and nobody else has the right to make any choices related to your decision, because that would be a violation of your freedoms. Everybody has to like everything you do, and if they don't cheerily accept and accommodate your refusal to do one easy and free thing to keep yourself and the people around you healthy and safe, they're selfish, short-sighted assholes who hate you personally. There is literally no other reason not to want to travel internationally with and spend time in close quarters beside a willfully unvaccinated adult in the year 2021. (The photo shoot is a super cute idea, BTW — out of an abundance of caution, you might want to check on your local ICU's visitation rules before booking the photographer.)

You always reminded him of a cute hamster whenever you slept. Your cheeks would be smushed on one side, whether it be sleeping on a pillow or on a table or on his arm.

He didn't use his phone often. He only used it to text or call you or to take pictures of you.

He loved the candid shots of you the most. Most of his camera roll was full of pictures of you. Occasionally, there would be screenshots of funny memes or pictures that his former high school teammates sent him that he saved.

"Hmm, 'toshi?" you mumbled as you rubbed your sleepy eyes.

Today, you fell asleep against his shoulder on the couch. Your leg had been pressed against his while your cheek was smushed onto his shoulder.

He wiped the drool off the corner of your mouth with the bottom of his shirt that he lifted.

"Did you sleep well?" he questioned.

You nodded, still sleepy. "I love you," you sleepily mumbled.

His heart nearly burst from your declaration of love. It wasn't unusual for you to do so. You were more open about your feelings than he was, especially when you had just woken up.

He kissed your forehead and brushed his fingers through your hair to get rid of any knots or tangles.

Trying to make you look presentable after you just woke up was something he did every time. It didn't matter if you were going out or not.

If there was a hairbrush near him, he'd grab that and start brushing your hair. He'd even occasionally braid it, which was something you taught him to do for fun. You never thought he'd actually put his newly acquired braiding skills to use on your hair.

If you just woke up and was feeling especially tired or groggy, he'd even brush your teeth for you and help you get dressed.

You never expected him to be such a giver when you first started dating, but that only made you love him more.

While he showed his love for you through his actions of taking care of you, you showed your love for him verbally and by cooking meals or making snacks for him.

It was the least you could do when he was always taking care of you. Whenever he went off to practices, you'd pack him huge bentos and made sure his water bottles were all filled.

You even had his manager's phone number and the two of you regularly texted to make sure his schedule was clear and tidy.

Wakatoshi loved how serious and passionate you were about his career. You even kept a calendar on the entrance and bathroom door so that he wouldn't forget about any important dates. All his practices and matches with the time were on the calendar.

If a match was out of state, he'd buy a ticket for you so you could go watch him. You always did your work a few days ahead in order to get a few days off for his match.

If something came up on your end, you'd refund the ticket and watch from your house. You'd send him a video of you wishing him luck with the sports channel in the background.

Though by the time the match was over, you'd sometimes be asleep since the time zones were different most of the time.

The team was always allowed to stay a few days in the country their match was in before they had to return, but Wakatoshi always returned right away in order to see you as soon as possible.

It didn't matter if you were asleep when he got back home. He just wanted to see your cute face.

"I love you too," he whispered.

You smiled like a lazy cat and brought his hand up to your cheek to muzzle into it.

And he definitely did take multiple pictures of you.

random thoughts about each film and two ~honorable mentions~ behind the cut because i wouldn’t be a failed film studies major if i didn’t talk about all the dumb things i love about movies

spirited away: my dad took me to see this as a surprise when it had a limited release and was playing at the arthouse theater an hour away (the same one i go to today, albeit its a ~5 min drive now) i know its cliche, but this movie changed my life. there are many little habits in my life that stem from watching the dvd on repeat as a child, teen, and now an adult. i love most ghibli works, but nothing will beat spirited away.

eternal sunshine: i have a love/hate relationship with manic pixie dream girls and the trope in general, but fuck do i love kate winslet as clem in this. probably my least watched film on this list (bc it hurts each time), but a forever fav.

marie antoinette: the soundtrack. the aesthetics. a visual and audio dream. parts of it are silly and absurd, but i can overlook those for all the beautiful shots of versailles. kiki dunst for life.

ratatouille: in a former life i was a big pixar nut with dreams of working there one day in the marketing dept (lol). i have deep rooted and controversial pixar takes, but i stanned ratatouille looooong before tiktok turned it into a musical and a meme.

pride and prejudice: do i need to explain my love for this one bc lord knows i reblog mads regency au!taeil fic enough for my love of p&p 05 to be known lmfao

the muppet movie: rainbow connection makes me cry every time lol. but also just a feel good movie. 

scream: the first horror movie i could stomach in my early 20′s lol. will forever have a crush on sidney prescott.

midsommar: the second horror movie i could stomach (and only bc i read the script in advance so i knew what was coming lol) i even made my own may queen halloween costume that year and wore it to work at ikea lmfao. ~sk��l~

the cranes are flying: i had to watch this film twice in college (womens studies course on feminism in post WW2 russia and again for films of the USSR) and i can’t explain why i love this movie, but i do? the cinematography is excellent, but the plot slumps in the second half. soviet cinema has some real interesting stuff, but this was ultimately my favorite of anything i had to watch for class.

plus two honorable mentions not pictured: the handmaiden and little forest, both starring kim tae-ri. every other film on this list is a tried and true favorite of mine for at least a couple of years/repeat viewings, and these two films were just watched for the first time in 2022. little forest particularly has stuck with me, as someone with weird eating issues. the whole idea of a film where the protagonist is hungry both in the literal and figurative sense. i am too, as of late. its free to watch on viki and under 2 hours in length. highly recommend if you need ‘healing’ content (a word i haaate to use, but in this case certainly fits)

The nights in California are much more suffocating than you would think. The air is stuffy while angry neighbours bicker loudly at well past hours. Do they even know the meaning of manners? Iwaizumi Hajime, currently studying abroad from Japan to pursue his passion in sports medicine. The education system in America was vastly different from the one in Japan, though studying here is a much better option for getting connections in the industry. 

His major is not a particularly easy one. It is part of the medical field after all. Though in times of stress, he missed everything he had back in his home country. All the friends he had, his family, and most certainly you, his beloved partner. You and Iwaizumi have been dating at the start of your third year together. After parting ways in high school to pursue different careers, you two have decided to take the challenge of a long distance relationship, your feelings for each other being as strong as ever.

However, he never considered how hard it really was. With a shockingly 17 hour time zone difference, when one was awake the other was usually asleep. The two of you tried very hard two fit in at least one call a week and constantly text the other with room of expectation that the other would reply in a couple of hours. It was very rough at first but together you both have found a pace that worked and kept your relationship intact.

The biggest obstacle for Iwaizumi was definitely during exam season, when all his focus has been shifted into studying and reviewing all the heavy content he’s been looking at for the past semester. As much as he hated this time of the year due to multiple reasons, he had just come to accept it. Unfortunately, your daily texts have stretched into weeks and your weekly calls have stretched into months. With minimal communication, Iwaizumi was bound to feel the stress power down on him. His worries for his studies combined with the ones about your relationship has certainly shoved him into a corner of burn out. 

Furious at himself for his limited mental capacity, Iwaizumi threw his notebook to the desk in front of him and sighed in annoyance, running his hands through his face and his hair. Tilting his head upwards, he stared at the ceiling blankly. His gaze automatically drifted to his phone that was placed facing down across this room to avoid any distractions. He made his way towards his phone and picked it up. He immediately opened your contact and stared at the picture in your profile. It was a picture that was taken a few weeks before he left Japan when the two of you went on a picnic date and as predicted, his best friends crashed into it, their fleeting figures visible in the background of the picture.

He chuckled at the memory. How he missed all of them. Clicking on the messaging icon, he had an internal debate if he should text you. Glancing at the clock, it read 4:48pm meaning for you it must be morning. Hesitantly, he started typing out a message that was out of character even for him, but what can he do, he really craved your presence. 

Iwaizumi: I miss you. I really wish you could hold me in your arms and kiss away all of my stress.

Hitting send, his eyes widen at the small letters at the bottom that indicate that you have read his message. A few seconds later, there was a reply. His heart started to beat faster as his eyes scanned the digital letters displayed on his screen.

Y/n: Hi Hajime! I miss you lots too baby. I will be sending you virtual hugs if that helps?

He couldn’t hide his smile anymore. His lips pulled up on his face as his eyes lit up at your very sweet message. He immediately replied to your message, trying to elongate this moment as much as he can due to its rarity that the both of you were up at the same time.

Iwaizumi: You’re up earlier than usual today

Y/n: Yeah I recently switched one of the electives and they only had a morning slot available. Late morning but still, morning lectures suck :(

Iwaizumi: Don’t push yourself too hard. Make sure to sleep earlier now and eat a full breakfast ok?

Y/n: Iwa-chan are you my mom?

A small vein popped on Iwaizumi’s forehead, the nostalgic yet annoying memory of Oikawa using that exact phrase on him.

Iwaizumi: Ha ha very funny honey.

Y/n: I’m kidding~! Thank you for worrying about me. I love you ok? *sends a heart reaction meme*

Iwaizumi: Yeah yeah I love you too.

Iwaizumi could feel the conversion coming to an end. He really didn’t want that. Although he had to get back to do some studying soon, and he knew that you had to get to class. But he tried to push his luck a little further, praying to the universe to not be against him today.

Iwaizumi: Hey, are you free to call for a bit? 

Y/n: Hmm yeah I should be able to, I still have time for my class and I don’t live too far from my campus.

And with that, Iwaizumi felt that the universe had finally blessed him for the first time since he had come to America. Clicking on the phone icon, he brought his phone up to ear and waited on the rings until you picked up.

“Hi Hajime~” you cooed at your boyfriend. Oh how he missed that phrase coming from your lips. Your conversation flowed like always, however this time you could tell that both of your words were laced with longing for the other. 

The seconds stretched to minutes, a small giggle here and there, and suddenly time had lost its meaning. Both yours and his love were timeless. Unconditional love. The type of love that you two don’t expect anything in return from the other. Yet both of you continue to care for the other as if you were to let go, it would be gone forever. 

After a small joke being cracked from your side of the line, there was a small pause, slight tension building, unclear if that tension was positive or not. Maybe it was slightly suffocating, but with the other on the line, everything felt ok.

“Hey… I love you, you know that right?” Iwaizumi mumbled. Being in a long distance relationship really affected him. You let out a small sigh, imagining the small pout on his face when he gets a little antsy from the lack of your presence. 

“Mhm, I sure do know baby. I love you too,” you hummed to him. The two of you sat in silence once again. But this time, the silence was comfortable, almost as if the two of you were in the same room together. Warmth radiating onto each other as your fingertips made contact with his. Coming back to reality, you looked at the clocks and sadly, your short time with him has ended for now.

“Fine… Don’t forget to eat properly and sleep well. Text me when you’re done with your lectures, I’ll respond to them as fast as I can.”

“I have to go now Hajime, or I’ll be late for class. You need to get back into studying too.” You could hear the small grunts of disappointment from the other end of the line. He was just too cute for you. A side of the Iwaizumi Hajime that only you got to see and no one else. 

“Will do!! Call again when exams are over?” 

“Mhm. I love you.”

“Pft, you said that so much today, is this really my boyfriend I’m talking to?”

“Hey don’t be rude. I just really miss you and I really can’t wait for the break after exams. I’ll be coming back to Japan this time.”

“Yup! And we’ll reunite with the rest of the Seijoh alumni!”

“Ehh, I'd rather just spend my time with you.”

“I don’t think Tooru would like that Haji.”

“Let him. I just want to be with you.”

“You are such a romantic.”

“Only for you.”

You giggled.

“I love you~”

“And I will love you more, forever and always.”

“Babe it’s too early to be this cheesy for me.” 

“It’s literally almost 11am there.”

“OH SHIT. I GOTTA GO. I LOVE YOU AGAIN BABY MWAH TEXT YA LATER!”

And then you abruptly hung up. Sliding his phone off from his ear, Iwaizumi scrolled at your pictures and your messages for a few minutes, thinking to himself how lucky he is to have you in his life. 

Who would have known that one call, from 17 hours into the “future” would have such an effect on a man like Iwaizumi Hajime. Well there is only one type of call that can do that. And that is yours. 

And he knows that even in the toughest times of long distance, you are just one call away. And that one call, can make miles upon miles, feel like meters.

Aforementioned long ask post please excuse me while i try to figure out tumblr's new text editor. I’ll get into the art meme questions first and then the rest at the end.

Ok first of all thank you all for sending in questions! Giving me an excuse to talk hehe. I’ll address these in number order. Here’s a link to the ask meme for reference but also I’ll restate the question for ease of reading.

1. When did you get into art?

Super cliche answer but I don’t remember a time where I WASN’T the weird art kid! I started keeping a dedicated sketchbook when I was about 12? But here’s a page from my kindergarten journal about what I want to be when I grow up.

2. What art-related sites have you ever signed up for? 

LOL this is a weird question. Not sure why so many people want to know. Anyways I definitely had a dA. more than one dA account. I used to browse oekakis when I was a kid but I think I was only signed up to some small ones that internet friends owned. What else...? Mangabullet,Tegakie, Paintberri, iscribble back when that was a thing, instagram if that COUNTs, I used to post art on livejournal and dreamwidth too. Patreon, I guess. Gumroad, inprnt, bigcartel, storenvy all for selling stuff.

In terms of resources.. I have a schoolism account that I’m sharing with friends. Used to take classes on coursera for free. I signed up to textures.com for work recently haha. I can’t remember if I ever had an account on posemaniacs. Did they have accounts...? I definitely used to visit all the time.

3. Show us your oldest piece of art you have on hand.

Alright here’s me actually logging into my old deviantart account. These are from September 2008 So I was 13 years old. I don’t have a deviantart account from before then because 13 was the required age for having an account and I didn’t want to lie about my age because I wanted people to be impressed by how young yet clearly incredible at art I was LOL.

4. What defines your artistic style?

You guys are probably more equipped to answer this than me but uh... I wanna say... Focus on colors. And... a slightly heavy hand? Like confident... not always well-considered mark making HAH...

Also I think I have a pretty healthy mix of american comics/manga influences. I feel like people who are into american comics always think my art is too manga and people who are into anime/manga always think my art is too american. And I’m taking that as a good sign.

5. Do you practice other styles/have you tried other styles in the past?

I like to think I switch it up a bunch! I mean, these are pretty different, right?

I think I’ve mentioned this before but one thing I really took away from art school is that, for an illustrator at least, art style shouldn’t be consistent. Your greatest weapon is changing the aspects of your style based on the task, the emotions and message you want to illustrate etc. So depending on the project I’m working on, the fandom I’m drawing for, whether I want something to be funny or serious or dramatic, I’ll change things about my style all the time.

One thing I don’t rly post on here is really tight polished work and that’s because I do that for my day job haha. If you’re not paying me... I’m probably not gonna color in the lines.

6. What levels of artistic education have you had?

I have a whole ass diploma LOL. Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. from the Rhode Island School of Design. And I had a great college experience tbh. Besides the student loans. 8. What is your favourite piece that you have done?

Well, obviously this is gonna change all the time and generally it’s gonna be my most recent piece LOL. So yeah, why the hell not. I’ll say it’s this one. I have a pretty short memory which I count as a blessing for an artist. I don’t dwell that long on older work and it keeps me moving forward.

10. What do you like most about your art?

I like that it’s something that only I would make! I had this thought fairly recently and I wrote it down in my sketchbook, it’s pretty cheesy and rambling but it felt revolutionary at the time:

So yeah. I like my art best when it’s the most me and for me. And I like it least when it feels like I’m just making something for social media or for other people’s expectations or whatever.

14. What do you like drawing the most?

Kids in baggy clothing are like my go-to LOL idk if that’s obvious. but also I like being challenged so lately I’ve really loved drawing multi-character compositions, environments, weird angles, etc.

oh i LOVE drawing the underside of shoes lol. And bandages. People that are kinda beat up.. I think it comes from getting a bunch of cuts all the time. I’m always patching myself up and I want to patch characters up too.

15. What do you like drawing the least?

mmm I try to find something to like in every drawing but lets see... I don’t like doing commissions of people’s dogs. Just because it’s normally like... a family friend and my mom volunteered me without my consent and I don’t even really know what they’re expecting me to draw and I don’t even get to meet the dog. Also I’m not that great at dog anatomy. Trying to learn though.

18. What is your purpose for drawing?

This could have a million answers! Uhhh to GIT GOOD??? But also to express myself... and also to make money... I mean it depends on what the drawing IS. I draw fanart mostly to connect to people in the fandom so if you ever see me drawing fanart please take it as like an open invitation to talk to me about the character haha. 

20. How would you rank your art? (poor, mediocre, good, etc.)

Good!!! I have a lot of self-confidence primarily born out of ignorance and a short attention span. If I don’t think too hard about how many other artists are mindblowingly unfathombly good... its easy to think I’m good too! LOL

In all seriousness though, I think the opinion a person has of their art is like a crazy balancing act, right? Like you have to think you suck enough to want to get better but also you have to think you’re good enough to not want to give up. I think we’re all walking that line, I know I am! But also I’m a glass half-full type of person so. Most of the time I feel good about it.

22. List at least one of your “artspirations.”

This is a good question because I’ve been trying and failing to put together one of those “influence map” memes for like a full month now. What’s giving me a hard time is I feel like none of these are actually really obvious “““influences”““ in my art? Like it’s hard to see a lot of them in the work I make...? But idk maybe you guys’ll see what I can’t.

And these are just a couple! God there’s so many more. I could talk about other artists for ages, from all different genres of art. 24. Do you have a shameful art past? (recolour sprite comics, tracing art, etc.)

I mean if that’s how we’re defining shameful?? sure LOL. It’s not sprite comics but I used to do pokemon sprite recolors all the time. And I used to trace manga panels and color them... Granted this was all when I was like under 12 yrs old so it’s not even embarrassing. Can you really call it shameful when a 7 year old wets the bed or whatever? Not really. In fact some of these are cool as fuck. Look

25. Draw a picture!

I used to get a lot of compliments for drawing people smiling lol but I don’t think I’ve drawn a lot of smiling lately.. here’s proof I’ve still got it.

I think a lot of artists on social media talk about the struggle of making art but imo not enough people talk about the joy! Like I know it’s corny but. I really meant what I said at the beginning of that sketchbook about re-contextualizing art around process and progress > product and perfection. I think its super important..! The strength of messy, unfinished, and energetic art! For the feeling of it, for the love it!

Hi! I totally have the answer for digital stuff on my faq lol. But in terms of drawing on paper.. it varies! I tend to use sketchbooking and any on-paper doodling I do as a way to loosen up/warm-up or experiment. But right now my go-to aresenal is:

from top > bottom

- kuretake no.55 doublesided brush pen

- tombow fudenosuke

- muji 0.38 ballpoint

- medium size poscas

- grey tombow double brush pens

- good ol bic mechanical pencil

not EXACTly sure which inking you referring to from my sketchbook but if I had to take a guess it'd probably be the kuretake no55. That's been my main inker, lately. Great for sketching with the thin end too.

You can print out and eat my art if you like. Just please don't mass produce or re-sell. <3

Thanks! I've come to accept that my art is always gonna be sort of gestural and painty naturally. It's getting it to tighten up enough to be legible that's hard lol...
