Uh... you do know the official whumptober has declared they won't allow any works they know to be AI generated right?

If their policy has changed at any point in the last year, we are not aware of it since we do not interact with them at all.

This event was created in 2023, at which point whumptober's stance was still that they 'will not reblog/promote AI generated art' but 'will not forbid it from being posted in their tags or AO3 collection'. (see this ask too)

A brief glance at the FAQ on their prompts this year would show this to still be the case since it only mentions reblogging, though I did notice they added a 'no' to their overall FAQ (the one only accessible through desktop by going to the blog itself).

It's curious to me that they act as if this has always been the case, when it hasn't. That 'no' wasn't there before, and acting as if generative AI has always been disallowed from their event when plenty of people can attest to the opposite feels disingeneous at best - as does very subtly changing the less viewed FAQ but then also not the actual one on the prompts or never making a proper statement after all that happened. And the abovementioned ask is still up so we can only assume the AO3 policy has remained the same.

Regardless, If they changed their minds that's wonderful and we can only encourage it. People have always been free to participate in whatever event they choose. We will still host this one, especially given the context under which it was created which left a very bitter taste in our mouth. Some people might not want to participate in the other Whumptober even with a changed policy.
