Peaky women appreciation post

Here’s to these gorgeous and strong women…

First up- the one and only Queen. My fav, she made Tommy alive again. She was his rock, his light, his hope and everything right in his life. The badass Spy turned Saviour for orphaned children of Birmingham.

May- I loved the class and calmness she brought, she was a good companion for Tommy. Her heart was in the right place and she was a good person but more importantly she was also dignified and strong. She clearly had feelings for Tommy in s4, yet she chose to be practical and listen to her mind. In the end it was the right decision.

Tatiana- She is too much to handle. She was crazy and smart in equal parts. Even gorgeous and toxic in equal parts, she was better off far away from Tommy though. I liked her in my second watch!!

Jessie- Passionate about her cause, not afraid to stand up to Tommy Shelby, a woman on a mission👏

Another Queen- this Shelby sister was always vocal about her feelings, did everything on her own terms. Became Tommy’s rock when he trusted no on else. He needed her for both matters of heart and business.

The other Mrs Shelbys- Special mention to these two. I liked Esme in s2 until they ruined her character and made her a cribber. She was not afraid to give opinions and fight for what she wanted. Linda was annoying but I never hated her. She really did try to help Arthur, he needed her. She held her own as a much as she could but I was glad the way she stood up and said enough is enough.

This one doesn’t make it to my Gorgeous Strong women list!! Seriously what the fuck was she thinking when she was trying to bring Angel to Tommy and Grace’s wedding?!?! She was just jealous and probably wanted Tommy’s attention by not following orders and pissing him off. But she ended up messing up everyone’s lives😡 “i fucked your husband���”😵‍💫😵‍💫 ewwww

she doesn’t usually answer voicemails, but something in the back of her mind told her that this one was important, so chewing on a piece of hair, she sighs and presses the button, puts in the code and begins to listen. most of them are bullshit, but not long before she’s ready to hang up, her mother’s voice is on the other end of the line. 

“eden, you’ve tested me too many times. check the morgue for a little surprise, look at what you’ve gone and made me do.” 

she pulls the phone away to look at it in confusion before hanging up. the morgue? why would her mother send her there? she shrugs her shoulder and shoves the cellphone into the back pocket of her jeans. if her mother was planting a trap for her there, she had to be ready. with colton on standby in case she needed him, the brunette picked herself up and wandered over towards the pick-up truck she’d acquired from her father after he died, saddled herself in, and started the drive over towards swanford.

she hasn’t been in this town in what feels like forever, but the weight of everything still hangs in the balance. she’s going to free these souls, it’s going to take time and energy and a plan that she has not yet come up with ( not for lack of trying of course, but she feels like she fails at every passing turn ) and things are just as difficult. 

she’s tempted to light up a cigarette but before she knows it, she’s there. the morgue is closed, of course, it’s the middle of the night, but she’s got her trusty lockpicks and doesn’t give two fucks if there are any cameras around. what’re the police going to do, anyway, they can’t handle the jobs they do have, let alone worry about a girl breaking into the place of the dead. she puts the flashlight in her mouth after clicking to illuminate the lock and starts at it, it takes her only a few minutes before she’s gotten it done and she can easily make her way inside without as much as a secondary thought.

it’s quiet here, almost too quiet. the halls smell like bleach and other different cleaners and it stings at her nose. she’s twinging a little bit before she makes it down the hall into the room where the bodies are located. so far, so good. nothing seems risky about this current predicament. there’s a gnawing feeling in the pit of her stomach that something is awry, she just hasn’t figured what that is yet.

pushing open the double doors, she starts with the bodies on the left. lifting up white sheets placed over them for modesty sake, but three corpses in and there’s nothing to be found. that’s when she spots her and her chest constricts, the whole world feeling like it’s going to collapse around her. 

there, on one of the tables, lies annabel. her sweet baby sister, who’s never done anything wrong in her entire life. she races towards that spot and reaches to touch the cold flesh beneath her fingers, brushes a strand of hair out of her her sister’s face just as the tears begin to fall. there’s a scream that could wake these dead that bullets out of her chest, and she collapses to the floor in a fit of rage. this - this was the final straw. she was going to get annabel back, hell or high water, and she was going to stop the madness that was odessa sinclair. 

her mother’s name was now engraved on a permanent hit list in her mind, and she would do anything to bring her to justice. they say the dead look like they’re sleeping - and annabel looked at peace, like she’d been done with the suffering of what was coming. but she could feel her sister’s presence, sense that she had some unfinished business, that she was lingering around for a purpose.

speaking out to the middle of a quiet room, eden begins to talk. 

“i’m going to get you back, and then we’re going to end that bitch.”

About gossip from the Chomondeleys' circle reaching Richard Eden at DM and who might be leaking.

I think it's often forgotten that DM is owned by aristocrats and employs alot of journalists with aristo connections and or aristos themselves. It's not always the circle giving Richard info directly. With few exceptions, they all ran in the Tatler, Spectator, The Lady, Country life, Evening Standard crowd. Information can come from anywhere within those interlocking publications who in turn hear it at their parties and country weekends, vacations and or friend groups. 

At one time, DM hired the editor of Tatler to helm it. The same Tatler editor who had been in charge over there during Kate and William dating years and who'd become the Middletons' media advisor in those years. After he left Tatler, he went on to The Evening Standard. 

We tend to think of Soho house as a hotbed of urbanites and celeb wannabes, but Soho Farmhouse has Rose Astor ( wife of Hugh Van Cutsem) as it's founding member and most of it's devotees are people in the aristo set and includes most of the Gloucestershire/ Coswolds residents which intersects politics, media and UK trendy wealthy, home counties aristos. 

Even the Made in Chelsea ( reality show) is cast from the aristo set eg Millie Mackintosh's husband is or was a good friend of Eugenie. Millie was deliberately befriended and later discarded by Markle and all we have of their friendship is that photo of them on bicycles at Soho house.

Then you have the other private members clubs eg Annabel's and it's sister clubs eg Lou Lou's, Birley's and 5 Hertford - owned and named by the Goldsmith family whose mother/ step-mother is Queen of the London Aristo society, friend of the Royals and in particular Camilla and her sister Annabel, Diana and Fergie, the Michael Kents). Almost every aristo/ royal circle has membership or parties at these 3 clubs including the young royals such as the York sisters, William and Kate. One of the ladies in William and Kate's inner circle, Astrid Harbord, works for Annabel's. 

Olswang, White's and The Lansdowne club are the other three private members clubs that cater to the crowd and also have that incestuous royal/ politics/ establishment/ media/ aristo circle as members. 

My point being that information doesn't always have to come from people super close to the subject in question because it's a very close knit incestuous class of people who gossip about each other and it's only restraint and class rules that prevent all of it appearing in society gossip columns like DM.

i don’t see many theories about the Angel/Messenger in the locked tomb. mine is pretty obvious since it is just that they have something to do with Cassiopeia the First. the Sixth House is on Mercury. Mercury is the Roman God of travelers, and the Sixth is the only House that moved. He is also the god of messengers and communication. Cassiopeia had left secret instructions to her house, which indicates that she had probably betrayed Jod. she might also have had some contact with Blood of Eden ? an Angel is a Messenger (of God) (but that wouldn’t make much sense here). and Lyctors are sort of Angels (companions of God, also the equivalent to the angels in the EAP’s poem Annabel Lee), so i think the Messenger has something to do with one of the Lyctors. i think some people said that the message might be something about preserving culture through oral tradition (since BOE also does that with names), and the Sixth is the House with the library, the archivists, the scholars, and psychometry.

if you have any theories about the Messenger (or about anything really) please share, i’m very interested

Since i love the way The Fallen Angel Painting by Alexandre Cabanel's angel's expression and since East of Eden is also filled with Bible References - I thought i would try my hand at drawing Cal with a similar vibe. Since James Dean portrayed the character often in these varies awkward body language i wanted to make sure i portrayed him with a similar energy.

Nona the Ninth

I am 95 pages into Nona the Ninth and as usual I have more questions than answers. Honestly Unreliable Narrator makes for the most interesting reading experience. I have unfortunately now outpaced my reading buddy and must vent on the venting website. So that I DO NOT search for answers. I must relieve the 😬😥😳 feeling or ruin it for myself.

Questions/speculation I now have.

How did Camilla etc get to Harrows body?

where are they planetwise?

I know why the Sixth exodused but why has it gone to sludge? With the while wizard burning etc? But we won’t since Nona doesn’t know. Grrrrrr narrator again.

what it going on with the Blood of Eden peeps?

also their names are hilarious and I commend Muir on her naming panache, also very slightly sad about the absence of Ozzealand nicknaming, but after 10000 years what can I expect.

where is Jod and sexy butter? And wtf are they doing?

where is my Gideon at? Either soul or meat suit

alecto is The Body or as I’ve been referring to her Tomb Girl, which is also some creature Jod made, which may also be someting from earths oceans, but also maybe earth itself? But she of the name names (A.L, Annabelle Lee, Alecto, monster, the Body, dead girlfriend) is also Jod’s cavalier which may be the way he got his OPness.

an aside, I love Tumblr language much for the happiness and also evidence that the initial peeps grew up with Buffy or at least the fanfiction, which is much with the language. Also steam of consciousness and I am only slightly off topic

I knew as soon as I read ‘none house, with left Grief’ that Jod was from earth and had a tumblr, I now know he’s a sheep shagger and probably cray cray. Still no idea how he stopped being entirely human.

i know Gideon and Pyrrha, Augustine, and mercymorn are original flavour humans, so I’d have to assume their cavaliers were as well. Anastasia couldn’t have been since she does at least 200 after Alecto is made so it’s interesting that her Lyctormajig failed when she’d gotten so close to perfection. Also tells me they were still on notEarth then.

i also now know I managed to buy a not great version of Nona since it’s missing whatever that short storey is but I must resist tracking it down since it’s set after Nona finishes.

annabel is sitting on the couch watching television, eden is half-ass cooking dinner in the kitchen. she watches as her sister shifts slightly, like she’s still getting comfortable in her own skin. is it weird, returning to a body that was yours previously, yet was taken from you, she wonders. there are so many questions that eden has for annabel, regarding the status of life after death and just what happens, what it feels like - if there is anything to look forward to - but she feels in the same sense that she can’t simply ask.

‘so how was it when you were dead?’ isn’t a real conversation starter, and it never should be.

reaching for the pot, eden grabs it without some sort of heat protection, because she’s far too busy staring in the direction of her younger sister to pay attention, and immediately drops it back to the stove with a muttered curse under her breath.

“sonofa….” she starts, a bit too loud before realizing that annabel is no longer on the couch and is currently standing in the kitchen, staring back at her. a heart pressed to her chest at shock, she winces at the bit of pressure from a now burned hand, but takes a breath to stop her lungs from aching.

“i could feel you watching me,” she says, through eyes that hold no emotion. that are dead and staring back at her with no light behind them, and eden wants to weep. where is her baby sister, full of brightness and love, where did that part of her soul escape to when she was brought back. “i….” eden starts, but is unable to put together a coherent thought. instead she busies herself by going to the sink to run some cool water on the burned skin of her hand, seeking some sort of relief and a bit of a distraction for the time being.

“i’m sorry…” she says, words repeated so often she fears they hold no weight. sorry this, sorry that, she doesn’t know how to express anything other than sorrow in the recent moments of her life, happiness forgotten like a leaf on the breeze. “how are you doing?” she figures that’s a safe enough question, because it was normal, at least. she wasn’t asking for a deep dive into her sister’s psyche, just a simple update.

“fine.” she says, standing there in the harsh fluorescent lights above, tilt of her head as she glances over at eden whose turned back from where she was washing her hand to look at her sister, immediately forgetting about her burnt hand when she goes to lean back on the counter and get a better view of her sister, standing a ways away from her.

she needs to have this conversation with annabel before she bursts, but the idea of starting it wants to send her into a tailspin. eden takes a step forward, using her noninjured hand to press against her sister’s cheek, brushing a strand of wayward hair from being in front of her face. “you sure about that, kiddo? i know you haven’t been sleepin’ well….” there have been far too many times in the recent nights that eden’s lack of sleep could be attuned to that of her sister’s lack of sleep. screams in the middle of night due to terrors unknown. 

“yeah, well…” annabel starts stops. shrugs her shoulders. “guess that comes from y’know, bein’ dead for two weeks and all.” eden feels a sense of guilt seep back into her bones at the mention, so she did know - that was both a relief for not having to have that conversation, but also a concern. 

how did she know?

 “….do you wanna talk about it?” annabel sighs, tears her gaze away from her sister and shirks away from the attention altogether, starts to walk out of the kitchen, but not before speaking a final set of words. “maybe someday….not now though. i’m not ready.” eden nods, pushes on her shoulders to guide her back towards the television.

“dinner’ll be ready soon, go enjoy your show.” 

for tonight, she won’t get answers, but the idea that they were coming that was going to have to be enough for now.

Assassins Creed Nevermore AU

but my picture of it was

clusterfuck are the templars. obviously annabel lee is the master templar of this whole ordeal. handed down the position from her father as a family title. Lenore was a templar before escaping her family and restarting a new, being rescued by duke and the misfits and climbing and being respected enough to hold title of mentor Lenore escaped being a templar, she was ready to be one. Her training with her brother and social status being held with the other templar rankings had stood a foot hold and her power was rising all because of her fathers status as head grandmaster templar.

Until her and her brother, Theo, was required to go on a mission to investigate an Object of Eden. Didn't go as planned, Theo ended up dying, Lenore lost interest as being a Templar and her father used that and Theos death as a way to shut her down completely. So she ran, as far as she could. She eventually ran into Duke and the rest. It was Pluto who helped her first, seeing her beat down and left to nothing until Berenice saw the Templar ring and it took a while but they trusted her and she climbed up to Mentor.

Annabel, however, is still a templar. Her father is still grandmaster but she's right behind him and his authority is her authority as well. She secretly and very, very, discreetly tracked down Lenore. What would her father think if he found her searching for a traitor?

Annabel found Lenore, convinced her father to open trade to (wherever lenore is currently at with the creed) and made her way to Lenore. She ended up falling for her, she never intended it but she has to keep it to herself and make it seem like she's just there on business.

Moral of the story, Annabel becomes head templar and her right and left hand are Monty and Prospero Lenore is a former templar turned assassin and finds out her childhood friend who her fathers introduced to each other out of pure templar business is now living in the same region as she is. And she thinks its on templar business but for Annabel its for Lenore.

Please for the love of gods add more if ye can im not good at aus im just a huge history nerd who combined my two favorite series.
