1. The first one definitely looks better, good for impactful sequences but the 2nd one should be the go-to, at least for the regular scenes that aren't funny or relevant.
2. "Good" Is actually used for cartoony series, use the more natural poses for shows that have realistic acting.
3. Flowy/light hair tends to block expressions. It's also distracting because scene time usually ends before it even settles. While it's fine to use for dramatic scenes, it's still advisable to use "heavy" hair in general.
4. Avoid using too much 'Barbie hands' unless a character is supposed to move daintily.
NOT general art tips. These are just some stuff I made for the old animation team I worked with.

애니매이션 프레임 나누는법 How to use the animation frame

I'm starting a new animation before I finish the other one, but I thought it'd be helpful to showcase how my animations function.
Firstly, I keyframe every bone on the body to help keep the graph editor clean, you don't want to have to work out which bone is keyed on which frame, and besides when the program automatically smoothens the animation by splining it, it'll smooth from one keyframe to the next. That can cause bones to start moving before you'd like them to if there's keys where a bone isn't framed. It's best to just avoid that and key everything in stepped mode (Keys jump from one to the next, like stop motion.).
Secondly, I don't have any set rhythm in which I place keys. On the graph you can see they're all quite evenly spaced out, but that won't always be the case. I key my frames based on the driving action of a character. For this shot, the driving action is the foot, and I animate everything around that. This usually involves animating the pelvis and foot first, then going back and animating the arms, head, shoulders, etc.
Thirdly, accounting for physics and inertia. Since the foot is the driving action, everything lags behind as they follow it. The torso is connected to the foot, but doesn't lag behind as much as the connection between the two is quite rigid, and the arms follow the torso on a delay. It's a hierarchy of chain reactions, keeping that in mind will make your animations much smoother and more realistic.

[image id: a four-page comic. it is titled "immortality” after the poem by clare harner (more popularly known as “do not stand at my grave and weep”). the first page shows paleontologists digging up fossils at a dig. it reads, “do not stand at my grave and weep. i am not there. i do not sleep.” page two features several prehistoric creatures living in the wild. not featured but notable, each have modern descendants: horses, cetaceans, horsetail plants, and crocodilians. it reads, “i am a thousand winds that blow. i am the diamond glints on snow. i am the sunlight on ripened grain. i am the gentle autumn rain.” the third page shows archaeopteryx in the treetops and the skies, then a modern museum-goer reading the placard on a fossil display. it reads, “when you awaken in the morning’s hush, i am the swift uplifting rush, of quiet birds in circled flight. i am the soft stars that shine at night. do not stand at my grave and cry.” the fourth page shows a chicken in a field. it reads, “i am not there. i did not die” / end id]
a comic i made in about 15 hours for my school’s comic anthology. the theme was “evolution”

Bugs me when they animate characters clapping their hands and it's too fluid. it's a sharp movement, there shouldn't be any drag going on.

For the witches and pagans who need to hear it, connecting with nature is supposed to be about like, actually observing nature over long periods of time, not doing stuff like hoarding endangered bird feathers and beach sand, or just meditating out in aesthetically-pleasing locations. Can you tell me exactly when your wildflowers and weeds start blooming? When do your bugs come out of hibernation? When do migratory birds come and go? How does the air feel during different times of year? If you can't do stuff like that, you aren't connecting with nature.

The Buff-Tip Moth: the resting posture, shape, and coloration of the buff-tip moth allows it to mimic a broken birch twig; its buff-colored head and the patches on its hindwings even resemble freshly-snapped wood
Tumblr media
It also definitely tends to look like there's a weird little smiley face in the setae surrounding the moth's head, which is arguably even more striking but for some reason none of the sources I dug up on this species seem to mention that weirdness.
Tumblr media
This type of camouflage is generally referred to as a "protective resemblance" -- a form of mimesis in which an animal can avoid being preyed upon by mimicking an inedible/unremarkable aspect of its environment. Many different moths are able to disguise themselves in similar ways, and it is especially common within the family known as Lasiocampidae. Some of the other species that engage in protective resemblance include Gastropacha quercifolia, Gastropacha pardale, Gastropacha populifoli, Euthrix potatori, Euthrix laeta, and Calyptra minuticornis (along with the other members of genus Calyptra). Most of these moths disguise themselves as leaves/foliage.
The buff-tip moth is particularly adept at disguising itself, however, and the fact that it so strongly resembles such a specific object (i.e. not just a dead leaf or a vague piece of foliage -- but a broken twig from a silver birch tree, in particular) makes this disguise seem even more impressive/unique.
This species (Phalera bucephala) can be found throughout the British Isles, mainland Europe, and Asia, with its range extending into Eastern Siberia.

A quick guide to animal symbolism:
Animals have a long history of symbolism that varies between cultures and customs. As literary tropes develop, some animal symbolism has become universally recognised in the western literary canon. Here are some examples you can use in your writing to give subtext, develop motifs, or promote your thematic content.
🐥 Birds: freedom, hope, escape 🦁 Lions: strength, courage, royalty 🐶 Dogs: loyalty, devotion, protection 🐱 Cats: independence, stealth, mystery 🐺 Wolves: intelligence, nature, wildness 🦊 Foxes: cleverness, cunning, deception 🐍 Snakes: temptation, evil, deceit 🦋 Butterflies: transformation, change, new beginnings 🦉 Owls: wisdom, knowledge, mystery 🦅 Eagles: strength, freedom, nobility ◾ Ravens: death, mystery, the unknown 🕊️ Doves: peace, love, purity 🐻 Bears: resurrection, strength, power, new life 🤘 Bulls: virility, sovereignty, wealth
