bold theory but im like 80% sure that the spiderman 2 story was a little lackluster because the dlc is going to be doing a lot more of the heavy lifting this time around
#i mean theyve definitely got dlc planned already… they had no idea how well the first games dlc would sell but this time around they do#i mean. okay heres my thought process here#1.#we know that norman is going to become the green goblin soon. the ‘’g-serum’’ he talked about was for harrys cure after the symbiote failed#but norman is probably the one who becomes the green goblin. how? idk yet maybe he tests it on himself first or something#i think thats going to be one of the storylines in the dlc#2. in this game they introduced ally teamups for the crimes in the overworld#two for the spidermen respectively and one for wraith. but during the period where harry is agent venom he has an ally teamup as well#his own animations and voice lines and everything. and thats a very short part of the game#so im actually convinced that harry will wake up from his coma in one of the waves of dlc and fight with the symbiote again#black cat had special finisher animations with miles too so maybe shes an ally teamup too? 👀#maybe wishful thinking but tbh i could see it happening considering the black cat threads from this game havent been entirely wrapped up yet#and also theres a severe lack of ally teamups LOL so im p sure harry at the very least is coming back#maybe to help fight norman somehow for when he turns into the goblin ?#idk. anyways#3. we still have the rest of kravens family to worry about and since they were tracking felecia maybe thats where she comes back ?#4. obviously theres going to be a dlc about the flame/cletus cassidy + carnage.#the flame even has a cult in this adaptation and their gatherings would make great bases which this game DESPERATELY needs more of#also going back to the ally teamup thing yuri still has one post game#and theyre definitely continuing her story given how open ended that questline was#im like. pretty confident in this even though i know its kind of iffy#if they save harry + the goblin for spiderman 3 i wouldnt be surprised but i think it has a solid chance of being addressed in the dlc#tldr there were WAY more lose ends than the first game

Does anyone remember the original spiderverse teaser trailer? I only have a vague memory of this but I might've seen it only in theaters when I went to see Jurassic world or something and it was purely a concept no real plot or anything. I just remember two spider people talking to each other on a subway bench but it was definitely not miles morales I vaguely remember one of them being very blonde but they were not characters that have been in the movies
I'm trying so hard to find this online but it just comes up with the first miles morales teaser does anyone remember or have access to a copy of the original spiderverse concept trailer???

"She's my wife."
Summary: Miguel thought you and his daughter died and you thought the same about him but when the truth comes out it makes for an emotional reunion of a small family (I changed Gabriella's age so the story would flow better)
Word count: 1.2K
Warnings: grief, kissing
-
-
Miguel’s eyes focus on the familiar group in front of him on his screen, a video he’s watched only too many times, so many that he can recite the words you say. He counts down the seconds until you walk onto screen watching your reaction to him and Gabriella wearing the matching outfits you bought for them, Gabriella only being about one at the time.
You walk in the room, your hands over your eyes before dropping them and cooing at the adorable scene ahead of you: Gabriella hugging Miguel as he’s wearing a begrudging smile.
When you and Gabriella first died he would re-watch the videos with tears in his eyes, angry tears but now he just watches them with longing in his eyes.
You, however, did not die nor Gabriella but you were accidentally sent to a different reality, leaving Miguel behind, except you thought he died just like he thought you died. In the other reality you had obtained “Spiderman” powers (through the usual way) and made sure that you protected Gabriella with your life for a few years before you’re recruited by some other Spider people who say they’re from another reality.
The concept of different realities is not a foreign one to you but you didn’t realise that there was a whole organisation called the Spider Society set up.
“Can you go over it again?” You ask, resting your head in your palm, all the science talking making your head hurt.
The Spiderwoman in front of you who you now know as Jessica explains the whole thing to you again, but leaves out the science making it easier to understand and conceptualise.
“And you want me to join?” You ask.
“Yeah, I’ve been monitoring you for a while now and I checked with a couple of colleagues and we decided to invite you. We’ll still have to introduce you to the boss though because we didn’t check with him before talking to you.” She says.
“Okay, I’ll check it out if you can take me wherever it is but I’m not making any promises. And I need to take my daughter with me.” You say, bargaining with the small group.
“That’s totally fine.” She says with a smile, handing me a couple of watches.
“Now?” You ask, surprised about the efficiency.
“Are you busy?” She asks.
“No but I’ll have to get my daughter…” You trail off, moving through the apartment to Gabriella’s room. Hola, ‘Riella.” You say, using the nickname that Miguel gave her. You give her a brief explanation basically that you had to go somewhere for work and that she had to come as well.
A few minutes later, you emerge from the room holding a young sleepy girl ready to go. It takes another few minutes to fully explain the portal system and eventually you’re flying through the multiverse staring at all the bright colours, careful to hold on to Gabriella.
Later, you step out of the portal next to Jess, opening your eyes to reveal countless Spidermen and Spiderwomen including animals like a Spider Cat? You question, unsure you’re seeing everything correctly.
You’re quickly led through the building by Jess, clearing used to the craziness of this place as she navigates easily. The people here are friendly enough though as the amount of smiles and “hello”s  you receive is incredible.
“So, I’m gonna introduce you to my boss, he runs pretty much everything here and he can be a little scary sometimes but don’t worry about it, okay?” You nod, more scared than you were before her reassurance.
She pushes open the door to reveal a slowly lowering platform, a man sat in a chair on the platform. Jess stands in front of mm and it almost seems as though she’s trying to protect you from him which only worries me more.
The platform reaches the floor and the man stands up from the chair not having yet turned around and you can feel my nerves peaking, until he turns around.
Instantly, my eyes widen and I don’t believe I can be seeing things correctly and my reaction is mirrored on his face. I stand frozen to the ground, shocked to my core as I stare at him scanning over his features making sure I’m correct. That’s my husband. My husband who is supposed to be dead.
“So, (y/n), this is-” You interrupt her staring at the man in front of you who’s staring back at you.
“Miguel?” You question quietly causing confusion to arise on Jess’ face.
“Oh, you guys know each other?” Jess asks as you begin to move towards Miguel.
Holding on to Gabriella gently, you walk towards the man who stands frozen. After he registers your movement he mimics it, walking towards you until you meet in the middle him immediately wrapping his arms around you. You never realised how much you missed the feeling of his arms around you until you feel the warmth and safety he provides you with.
“(y/n)?” He says, questioning you with an unstable voice.
“Yeah.” You say, tears gathering and leaving your eyes as you cling onto his large body.
It stays silent for moments although to you it feels like years, thankfully. After these moments you slowly pull myself away from him,
“I don’t understand how you’re alive but I don’t care right now.” You say raising your hand to his face, stroking over the rough “stubble”, but it’s more like he just forgot to shave for a few days.
You smile through teary eyes, looking up at your husband who towers over you. You get on your tip toes but you’re still not tall enough to reach his lips so you wrap your free hand around the collar of his Spiderman suit, tugging him down to your level and smashing your lips against his. He used to chuckle when you had to pull him down to your level but now he’s just happy to be with you in the moment. The videos combined could never live up to the reality of him having you here with him.
His lips are rough and chapped, not how you remembered and his hands are coarse, the time spent without you had clearly not been a good time. It wasn’t for you, desperately trying to protect and provide for Gabriella without Miguel by your side - it certainly wasn’t easy but it doesn’t matter now because you’re together and now no one will be able to change that ever again.
“So, you do know each other?” Jess says and honestly you forgot she was there but you turn to look at her with a small smile.
“She’s my wife.” Miguel says looking up at her and Jess just looks very confused, previously thinking his wife was dead.
You quickly interrupt, moving Gabriella into his arms watching as she slowly wakes up.
“I’m sure she’s missed you.” You say, quietly watching as his eyes seem to shimmer looking at his daughter for the first time in years.
“I missed you two so much, you have no idea.” He says and you can hear the tears in his wavering voice. “I’m never letting you two go ever again.” He says wrapping his arms around the both of you.

ii. memories
a/n: thank you for all the support on the first chapter 🫶🫶
warnings: language, mention of scar, mention of blood, arguing
w/c: 1.8k
next chapter: so what’s the plan?
Tumblr media
we finally got back to my place and i took my mask off after entering the front door, throwing it onto the counter. i then went to the couch and sat down. the others sat down all around the living room and dining room. hobie sat right beside me of course. “so what’s up? why do you guys need my help?” i asked. “it’s a long story, you ready?” peter b. asked. “yeah, i have the time.” i said, putting my hands behind my head.
peter b. explained everything about miles and how i’d be a big help. “okay so you’re telling me that this miles dude got bit by a spider that wasn’t from his universe so once he got to hq shit happened with him and miguel and then when he tried to go home he got sent to the wrong universe and the universe that he’s in has no protection of any kind?”
“yeah, pretty much.” gwen said. “and he got chased by like all of hq?? damn kinda wish i could’ve seen that.” i said with a laugh. “i left after helping him escape, didn’t feel like running for no reason and have mr. anger issues boss me around.” hobie said, arms crossed. “fair enough.”
“but would you be willing to help? hobie should have an extra watch so you don’t glitch out.” peter b. said. “um actually mate, i don’t. i didn’t think you’d wanna recruit anyone else so i laid off making them.” hobie said. “you didn’t even think about making extras kid?” spider noir said, which hobie just shook his head no to. “we’d have to go back to hq so i could get parts, which shouldn’t be an issue.”
“i can come with. i’ll use a day pass because i’m sure peter has extras for mayday.” i said. “i do, which hobie should’ve done with his watches!!” peter b. said. hobie just rolled his eyes then looked at me. “are you sure you’d wanna go back? after y’know?” i nodded, “he has no reason to do anything. i couldn’t prevent my canon event from happening so. plus i could probably take him down this time.” i said, slightly elbowing hobie.
“well then i guess let’s head to hq.” peter porker said. “no offense but i always forget there’s like animal spidermen.” i said, getting up to go grab my mask, making hobie and a few others laugh. peter b. then handed me a day pass which a slid over my wrist as hobie opened a portal, which he let everyone go into first before looking at me. “you ready?” i nodded, slipping my mask on. “now or never.”
i then followed hobie through the portal and got met with a familiar room and familiar faces, some had masks on. the group took their masks off and i did as well, i proceeded to hide behind hobies tall frame, kinda hoping other spider people wouldn’t notice me which hobie took notice of and smiled. lyla then popped up, “miguel wants to see you all. even you, (y/n).” she then disappeared. “of course he noticed us already.” gwen said, rolling her eyes. “perfect.” hobie said, smirking to himself. “excuse me but how is that perfect??” i asked.
“because, on the way to his office i can steal parts.” he whispered.
“oh.”
“yeah. don’t worry love, like you said, he won’t do anything.”
i tagged along behind hobie and the others as we made our way to where miguel was. as we passed through the parts room, hobie was stealing parts left and right. i rolled my eyes with a smile as i saw what hobie was doing. we eventually got to miguel’s office and a wave of nervousness washed over me. hobie noticed and placed a comforting hand on my shoulder and slightly rubbed it. i then noticed miguel coming down slowly on his little platform that i always found stupid. “come on, some of us don’t have all day.” i muttered under my breath, already wanting to leave.
miguel finally turned around to face us. “i thought i told you guys not to return.” “well technically you only kicked two of us out. the rest willingly left because that’s how shitty you are.” i said. miguel then looked at me and i felt my body tense up. “hm, i didn’t think you’d actually show your face again, even after your canon event happened. sorry about that by the way.”
i scoffed, “sorry?? you’re sorry? please, you are far from fucking sorry. so don’t even give me that bullshit. and i know that you know exactly what happened during that event and you know how much that fucked me up.”
“look, i don’t want to talk about it. yeah, i do know what happened and we both know who was under that mask.” “what? you don’t want them to know that this scar on my face is because of you?!” miguel just kept silent as i started remembering the day i got this scar, much rather wanting to remember that then who that face was behind the mask.
miguel called me in, i just saved a bunch of people so i was kind of confused of why i was called in. i eventually got to his office and he was already on the ground, back turned away from me. “what did i do?” i said as soon as i entered.
“you know what you did, (y/n). you almost disrupted a canon event.” i shrugged, “i don’t get why it’s such a big deal. it should be my choice if i wanna save my parents. i shouldn’t just stand back and watch it fucking happen.” peter b. then walked in wondering what the commotion was about.
“(y/n), there just isn’t some people who are supposed to be saved.” i just rolled my eyes, “like i said, that should be MY choice.” i started, stepping closer to miguel. “just because you had a shit ending, doesn’t mean i have to!” “that isn’t the point (y/n)!!” he yelled as he turned around and slashed my face. i stood there in shock as i felt blood going down my face and my eyes starting to tear up. peter b. was speechless, he couldn’t say anything. i just simply walked out, letting the tears flow as i walked out.
“and don’t come back.” i heard miguel finally say. i went to go open a portal, not even noticing hobie right beside me. “hey, what happened?? why is there blood going down your face love? why are you crying?” hobie blabbered but i muted his voice out, just trying to calm the pain down. as soon as i opened the portal i threw the watch out and gave hobie one last look before disappearing into the portal. the watch rolled to hobie’s feet, he proceeded to look down at it in shock, taking in everything that happened.
he then made his way to miguel’s office, knowing he had something to do with it. “ay, what the hell mate??” hobie said, holding my watch. “she broke a rule, so she had to go. and you will not be seeing her either. i’ll know if you go there hobie.” hobie scoffed, “did you literally have to put a scar across her face though??” miguel just sighed as he walked off, “she was too close.” hobie looked at the watch then at peter b. which he just turned his head away to.
i then looked around the room, keeping silent. “why are you guys here?” miguel said. “well most of us have the right to be here.” spider-byte said. miguel just kept quiet. “whatever, you can go.” as soon as i heard that, i left, not wanting to see his face anymore.
hobie followed right behind me, stealing more pieces as we walked through the parts room. “what happened?” he suddenly asked, us walking together a little ahead of the others. “hm? what do you mean?” i asked. “your canon event.” i looked at him then looked away. “i’d… i’d rather not.” hobie immediately understood, “it’s okay, i wasn’t forcing you to or anything. but wanna come back to my universe with me so i can piece this thing together?”
i simply nodded with a smile. i headed to hobie’s universe with gwen and pavitr as the others went back to their original homes. as soon as i entered hobie’s universe i came across the familiar smell of weed, something me and hobie would do every now and then whenever i would stop by. i happily plopped down on hobie’s couch, taking in all the familiar sights around the room. hobie set the parts down on the table and went to his room. shortly after, he came back with some tools and sat beside me. gwen and pavitr decided to sit on some pillows that were on the ground.
“so how long have you been spiderwoman? or i guess spi-tallica?” gwen asked. my attention went towards the girl, eyebrows raised. “just about two years now. you?” “around three.” i then looked at pavitr for his answer. “only like six months or so.” i looked at him, surprised. “so you’re just a rookie then.” pavitr nodded.
hobie was in his own world, putting pieces together to make the watch. “so what is this miles guy like?” “he’s a lot like you, tryna save his parents and shit. wanting to save his universe. but other than that, i don’t really know much about him. i know he’s been spiderman for about a year now, but other than that he’s a pretty cool guy. you’d probably like him.” hobie said, still focused on the watch. i then looked at gwen and pavitr, hoping they’d give me more information.
“he’s a jokester from time to time. but he is a really sweet guy. i don’t think his parents like me that much though..” gwen said. i raised an eyebrow, “and why is that?” “that’s the thing! i don’t know! i mean i treat them with respect, i know their names, i-“ i cut her off, “wait, first name or last name basis?” “um, first name..?” you gave her a deadpan look. “that’s your problem right there! some parents find it very disrespectful if you go calling them by their first name too easily. not even hobie does that!” i said. “i don’t even say their last name honestly. i just say hey, what’s up.” hobie added on. “well that’s because you’re hobie. but you gotta go by their last name for a few like if i ever met hobie’s parents i wouldn’t go ‘oh hi samantha and issac’ or whatever their names were! i’d say mr. and mrs. brown.” hobie looked at you with an offended look, “samantha and issac?? cmon, you didn’t have to give my parents the most basic names ever.”
“well not my fault you never told me their names.”
“you never asked.”
“well now i’m asking.”
hobie let out a chuckle as he continued working on the watch.
it was nice to finally be able to hang around other spider people again, especially hobart brown.

I'm in the fluffiest mood lately, so how about a no stakes sickfic. Movie night and the trip (Matt, Sel/Zaya) are home and decide to put on something like spiderverse or smth else, point being, either Isaiah or Matt gets super motion sick from it
Something fluffy it is. Thank you for the ask, Soup!!💙
Cinema sickness
The middle position was the best.
Matthew didn't notice when exactly they started to fight for it like that, but it was increasingly a place one of them got as special treat.
Like of course, when Isaiah was having his not so heart episodes that Seline still didn't know the cause of or when he was emotional. Then it wad Seline herself with a fever. She also usurped the spot most openly when she was well.
Matthew was a little too embarrassed to be that forward. Not when he was feeling fine.
They bought a camera projector they have been saving for a few months. Seline dreamed about the home cinema early on and Isaiah was such a movie buff, it was only to be expected.
Matthew found the cinema experience tiresome because of all the people, so their own private living room cinema because of the projector? Sounded fun. Though the cinema made for good people training.
"You guys didn't watch the second Spiderverse movie yet, right?" Seline said, taking control of the chromcast with her phone to put it on.
"I didn't see the first one either," Matthew grumbled as she climbed up between him and Isaiah who was scrolling through IMDb. He had a thing for ratings, while Seline loved comments and spoilers.
Matthew considered himself the only sane and commonly invested movie person. He liked to get surprised.
"The animation is out of this world. The first movie got an Oscar for it too, but they went overboard and beyond with the second. Each universe has a different animation style! It's the perfect movie for a cinema." Seline waved her phone in front of Matthew enthusiastically.
"Isn't animation for children?"
Isaiah and Seline both gave him scandalised looks. "In what hole did you live until now for such an outdated opinion?" Isaiah asked teasingly.
Matthew rolled his eyes. Didn't look like he would have a say today.
"I don't think you need the first one to understand," Seline said thoughtfully as she put the movie on. "They explain it pretty well, plus I can always explain things to you if you need it."
"You are still more of a fan of the first one, aren't you?" Isaiah said, bumping against her. They were sitting shoulder to shoulder, all three of them.
"I think the character development is simply better there? Also the relationships. The focus on bad mentor and a confused kid and different father figures...this one goes more into the romance storyline-"
"The focus just shifts from him to her's all-"
Matthew shook his head. "Alright, quit it. I want to see for myself."
The movie looked like a very expensive video game. The animation really was something else. Matthew understood quickly they would not be able to film stuff like this for real.
So many colours and so much quick movement. Their living room wall was basically flickering, going from one side of the colour spectrum to the next at rapid speed that had his head spinning.
How could there be so much happening on the screen? It was downright impossible to catch it all.
His eyes felt tired from it. It was all so fast and coupled with the music it was downright aggressive.
Matthew didn't notice when, but the left side of his head felt like someone held it in a vice grip. The more he watched and tried to make sense of what was happening, the more his left temple pounded in unison with his heart.
He found himself shaking his head to clear his vision, rubbing at the side of his face. He even tried closing one eye and then the other. But the images just kept coming and there was some kind of dramatic scene with spidermen all over the screen and damn, his head really hurt.
Seline was leaning her head against Isaiah's shoulder, her legs stretched out and touching them both. Her lap seemed very inviting.
Matt leaned to the side experimentally. He wanted to go slow and see how that would be taken, but the possibility of getting some cover from the screen was getting more irresistible by the second.
He slumped down into Seline's lap, twisting so his face was against her stomach. The lights were all over the living room, reaching even to the windows and the kitchen. No hiding from them.
Matthew closed his eyes, face buried in Seline's belly. He secured her from squirming with his arm over her torso, stretched out all the way to Isaiah's tight. If the other wolf wanted to protest or made any move of displeasure, Matt would quickly notice from that position.
His head hurt. Why just the left side of his face? It was tingling.
Everything was moving too much. The dizzying spinning sensation didn't quite go away, although he had his eyes squeezed shut and wasn't looking.
Not to mention he was starting to feel vaguely queasy, his dinner sloshing in his stomach angrily.
"Mattie, you aren't watching," Seline admonished softly. Her hand went into his hair though, petting it softly. He melted under her touch, grateful for a pleasant feeling to focus on.
Suddenly there was the incredible sound of the movie stopping.
"Matt? You tired?" Isaiah asked, shifting somewhere behind his head.
"Mhhhhhhhhmmmm." Was he that obvious? Suspicious? He wanted to stay huddled there in the softness, thanks.
Isaiah's hand landed on his arm. The older wolf reserved his touches for when Matthew felt sick. But they were so physically close these days, because of Seline of course, no other reason, Matthew kind of craved it, even when he didn't need it.
Or maybe it would count now. But he didn't want to ruin the celebratory mood by being a baby. It was a stupid children's movie, for God's sake.
"We can just call it a night, I think. Continuation tomorrow," Isaiah suggested, ever the peace keeper trying to accommodate everyone.
It sounded nice to not continue the movie in any case. But going to bed created a new set of problems.
Matthew would have to move.
Seline wiggled under his head. "You are heavy," she said playfully. She seemed more open to the gesture than Matthew expected. For no reason at all.
Matthew hummed non-committalally not sure how to explain or escape his predicament without losing his dinner. His stomach was churning angrily and his head was still pounding, sound or not.
Isaiah chucked. "You can sleep here for all I care, but at least let the lady get her PJs."
Matthew huffed at that, but opening his mouth wasn't a good idea. A little burp escaped, muffled against Seline's ribcage.
Seline's fingers in his hair stilled. "Mattie? You feeling alright?"
Did she notice that he got burpy when he was about to spew? He could just be full. Damn it all, the risks of living with people so closely.
Another burp, this time a little louder and wetter. Matthew pressed his face closer into Seline's shirt. It smelled of rain and ozone and grapefruit.
He felt both of their gazes on him without looking. They were probably mouthing something to each other at this point. He could picture it vividly.
The pain in his left temple spiked and he moaned quietly.
Seline's cold hand cupped his nape, stroking his neck up to his cheek where she could reach.
"...If I move, I'll hurl," he admitted finally, figuring he should inform her of the danger she was currently in.
The sigh came from Isaiah though, as the raven haired man moved gently away from the sofa into the direction of the kitchen.
"What's wrong? Is your belly upset?"
Jesus, that sounded childish when she said it like that. Not to mention that weird new Mattie nickname.
"Headhurtss," he manged to get through his gritted teeth, still entirely muffled against her stomach. It was quiet, churning only gently, like a purring cat.
"Has it been hurting for long?" She sounded amazingly calm considering he was lying across her lap. "You seemed fine to me," she said with puzzlement. He could imagine the way her forehead creased, a little wrinkle between her eyebrows as she thought back about the evening.
He opened his mouth the respond, but another burp rushed out instead. Pocket of air against her stomach. Saliva was flooding his mouth.
Matthew loosed his hold on her reluctantly, turning so he would be lying on her knees. He covered his eyes with his hands. "Ow."
Seline placed her hands on both sides of his face. "Where?" Her voice was impossibly soft.
He pushed her cool hand - how was it so cool? - against the left side of his forehead.
He felt more than saw two of her fingertips on his temple, making tiny circular movements against it. She bowled over him, her lips hovering over his ear. "How is this? Should I stop?"
"No, that's nice," he said, relaxing a little. The gentle pressure felt good against the pain, though his stomach was still roiling.
Isaiah came back then, the sofa dipping under his weight as he knelt on Matthew's other side. "I got a bowl if you need it."
"Not the nice popcorn bowl, come on," Seline complained, lifting her head.
"It's big and deep," Isaiah protested, sounding amused.
Matthew groaned at the banter. The headache was giving away a bit at the message, but the nausea rose steadily no matter what he did. He felt air in his throat and spit flooding his mouth. He didn't want to move away from Seline's fingers or the attention, but his stomach cramped angrily then.
It had him shooting up into general direction of up. Except he felt dizzy right away, swaying and moaning.
Isaiah grabbed his shoulder to steady him.
Matthew held his eyes shut against the spinning of the room, trusting him to have the bowl at the right place, cause he couldn't aim. His head exploded on his left side with the sensation and puke rocketed into his mouth.
He was right to trust him. The vomit made a splashing sound against the bowl without him even looking, Isaiah holding it under hid chin.
Seline's hands came to cup his forehead from behind. "You are okay, you are okay. Just get it up."
Matthew gave in to his body completely then, a little more voluntarily at the support. His senses were all over the place. He couldn't tell which was was up and down and his left side of the face as pounding and burning from warmth.
More waves of vomit came, easier to bring up now that he wasn't fighting it. When he thought he would catch a break, a loud burp brought in one more splash and then two more. His back arched, only Isaiah's hold on his shoulder keeping him upright. The sofa was moving like a water bed.
When he was finished, he spat the rest of the foul taste and slumped blindly back into Seline's lap. He wanted her nice scent and her cool hands and the little message against his temple that had a drilling machine against it.
"Better now?" she asked, her hands on his face just like he wanted, stroking his cheek and forehead.
"Mhhhhhhhhhmmmm." There was a relief from the nausea, but he was still afraid to open his eyes.
He could vaguely sense Isaiah's movements as he got rid of the bowl, returned to position it next to Matthew. Then circled around, fitting himself into the opening between Matthew's side and the sofa.
Matthew wasn't sure when vomiting because a group activity, or if he shouldn't apologise or feel embarrassed for making a fool of himself.
He sighed contendly as Seline went back to massaging his temple. Isaiah was rubbing his arm gently, as if to remind him he was there.
And who was Matthew to refuse the middle spot?

This ask game
TFP Kids in AOP. Jack, Miko, and Raf doing something nice for the Survey Corps
Sasha could smell it and it was distracting her. She was consistently sniffing the air, the ground, the walls. Where was that damn smell coming from?!
The 104th stared in confusion at Sasha's manic gestures. They wanted to know what was going on, but they were afraid to ask.
"Is something wrong?" Optimus asked as he approached the 104th in his holoform with Hanji and Levi.
"Sasha's acting like some rabid animal," Jean answered lamely.
"Quite manic," Hanji commented before their gaze turned to the crowd, "Odd, I thought Jack, Miko, and Raf would be with you guys."
"I thought you kidnapped Raf again and Jack and Miko had to chase you down," Eren retorted dryly.
"Hey!" Hanji was offended at the jab, but Levi shook his head, signaling them to accept defeat. They shouldn't have even tried that in the first place.
Sasha snapped her head upwards and grinned. "I got you."
Sasha made a mad dash towards the kitchen, prompting the others to follow her. When Sasha reached the kitchen door and swung it wide open, she took a step forward. But she yelled as a rope snagged around her ankle and hoisted her upside down in the air. Sasha yelled in frustration, trying her best to get down but to no avail. The Survey Corps were surprised to see Sasha dangling like that, but their gaze fell to what was inside.
Jack, Miko, and Rafael were hard at work in the kitchen. Jack seemed to be keeping a close eye on a pot of chopped potatoes boiling over a fire, stirring it over and over again with a wooden spoon. Miko was peeling potatoes with a knife, seemingly whistling a tune in the process. Meanwhile, Rafael was working over another fire, boiling some water and filtering some of the contents of the water out with paper. Atop the table at the center of the kitchen rested a tray of potatoes cooked very differently compared to what they were used to. It wasn't boiled at all, and it looked like it was chopped into tiny sticks, or fried into small circles. They spotted both oil and salt on the table next to the stuff, but how they got the oil was clearly a mystery. They saw different vegetables on the table as well, clearly they were experimenting with something.
Rafael stopped what he was doing and noticed Sasha hanging from the trap. "Oh, that was meant for Hanji."
"Stop making jabs at me!" Hanji ordered.
"Stop trying to kidnap me," Rafael stated.
"It's probably good that this is holding Sasha," Connie proclaimed.
"Connie get me down from here! Let me enjoy paradise!" Sasha demanded.
"I'm not letting you hog whatever this is!" Connie yelled.
"What the hell is this anyway?" Levi demanded.
"While this world is cool when it comes to medieval spidermen and kaiju transformations," Miko began dramatically, the back of her hand over her head.
"We miss food from our world and the island's food is bland," Jack went straight to the point as he tapped the wooden spoon against the pot, "So we're making chips and fries with what we have."
"Chips and fries?" Armin questioned.
"It's just two different ways to cook potatoes," Jack explained, "I made french fries all the time back on Earth when I worked at a fast food place."
"We usually get chips already ready in bags and we're trying to add some flavor, like onions and limes, so a few of our attempts might be botched," Rafael warned, "At the very least, those Marleyan ships have quite a bit of food we can use."
"I want to try!" Sasha pleaded.
"Okie dokie!" Miko set down her peeled potato and snagged one french fry from the table. She walked over and kneeled down to Sasha's face before putting the french fry in her open mouth. Sasha gasped in shock at the saltiness and warmth of the fried potato. The huntress bawled tears of joy as she chewed the delicious treat.
"I'M IN HEAVEN!" Sasha sobbed.
"Hey, I want to try!" Jean exclaimed.
"Yeah, me too!" Connie agreed.
"Sooooo, what are you making?" Hanji slid over to Rafael with a sly grin.
Optimus watched from afar as the Survey Corps chatted and ate snacks with his old human allies. A few were helping Miko peel potatoes, some were listening to Jack talk about his old job as he got the fries out of the pot. And Rafael was explaining how to make salt with the ocean's water. He couldn't help but smile at the sight of the 104th's faces turning sour at some of the potato chips with lime on them. However, the captain appeared to like the lime-flavored chips, taking a small bowl and chewing quietly. He did hear the captain grumble about a mess the food was making, but he didn't stop their fun. Sasha consistently tried to scarf down more fries and chips, but consistently had to be held back by Mikasa so everyone got their fair share.
"I'm curious," Hanji began as they grabbed the bottle of oil from the table, "How did you get this? Oil is extremely rare and meant for people in the inner circle. You've even used some salt, even though Rafael appears to be making some just fine."
"The better question is, Commandant." Miko approached the Commander before glaring at them, "Are you going to snitch on us?"
"Snitch on you about what?" Everyone was surprised at Levi playing dumb, but the captain merely continued to eat his fill, "It could use less salt."
(Okay, someone asked about 38, but the rest is free game!)

graaaAAA desperately need to draw this but [insert excuses] so i'm just writing this out for now to satisfy the monkey in the braincage
Far Flung AU, where Martin does indeed land Somewhere Else, but during their fall he's just become a blended smoothie of fear power, unable to identify as truly human nor avatar. This is wholly an excuse to let Martin go overpowered bonkers off the wall in the Protocol universe with many pinches of edgy and angst and next to no regard for canon as i'm not made for writing :] various rambling details on Martin's powers and whatnot below
in regards to powers, he's mostly an amalgamation of the Lonely, the Web, and the Eye, of course. again with the whole 'fear smoothie' role the specifics are a bit lost.
his form can have a bit of an afterimage, like someone playing a video or animation twice. like if he waves his arm, theres a second arm following the same motion. this is usually easily hidden when in public (especially since he can just will himself to be unnoticeable) but it can also flare up, intentionally or not. when this happens, the afterimage appears more inhuman, kind of gangly. at its peak, the second limbs can manipulate physical objects, but still make a habit of following the other limbs around. his face becomes disorienting- both for him to manipulate and whichever unlucky soul is looking at him to stare at. and, of course, this means sometimes he may get extra eyes that linger around longer than they should. this is a pretty solid mix of the three fears
speaking of eyes, he's able to...well. i wouldn't call it Knowing, but something close to it, and those afterimage eyes appearing are a telltale sign he's getting extremely vague information beamed into his brain. while he certainly helped serve Beholding, he also helped end its reign of terror, so any 'help' from it isn't super useful and isn't often, not unless it can serve the Eye in some way.
sticks to walls like spiderman. because i said so :] it's actually more, uh...spider friends sticking him to the wall, probably? not as crazy powerful as actual spiderman (spidermen?) but it's a fun power to imagine him having. watching from the building walls Ominously
he can drop into the Lonely/his domain at will, and i do mean 'drop' literally. bc again its funny and would look cool. im right <3
he can lock into people's memories, or like....make people become lost in thought, kind of? like when you get stuck daydreaming, in a way...still thinking on this one
design wise (admittedly most of this also works as my general headcanons too):
listen to me carefully. one side of his glasses is in decent shape; that side is where the afterimage eyes appear. the other side has a crack in them. its in an asymmetrical X shape, with three more lines around the center, like the world's shittiest web. when hes feeling A Lot, those eyes glow like sunset. blood redorange. pair it with the fog, and its like a really creepy version of a sunset through a densely foggy forest. do u see my vision. martin apparently doesn't, with those fucked up glasses. i think a chunk of panopticon debri smacked his forehead on the side with the cracked glass; give homie a fun little forehead/eyebrow scar. oh AND AND again when he's feeling Many Things, the crack in the glasses follows where he looks, to keep up the scattered light rays (dream logic and what have you!)
when martin worked with peter, peter would put his hand on the back of martin's neck in that way thats supposed to be friendly and comforting, but in hindsight just felt disgustingly controlling to martin. that spot- at the bottom of his hair, around his neck- is where i think the white hair would appear. when he has a hood up and he's feeling foggy, it turns into a kind of creepy mimicry of fuzzy/furry hoods, blocking his eyes (except for when they glow >:) (bonus: he gained a nervous tick of rubbing the back of his neck, after he first left the Lonely :)
and one more ability i think Martin would/could have, both in this AU and in (head)canon:
i have a very vivid idea of Martin being able to manipulate his domain for travel (and his domain is a foggy damp forest but that's besides the point). as in, in an emergency he can pop himself halfway into the Lonely and time is slightly slowed, but he has to be careful of where he does so- if there's a physical obstruction in his path on the physical plane and he doesn't clear that space in his domain, there's Consequences. like getting half buried in whatever material he just failed to walk through! actually i just remembered i wrote something out for this in a friend's dm...and since we're already waist deep in rambling:
Mr archivist took a hit on the leg, only half awake, maybe theyre running from like. Vampires or something bc its so funny vampires exist but are NEVER returned to. So martin is helping him with an arm wrapped around him, but their route gets blocked off. As they run up to a deadend wall, jon "politely" reminds him of such, but martin just yell-asks him how thick the wall is and tosses him over his shoulder. Eye does its thing and jon responds automatically as martin gains speed, busting into the lonely just before they run face first into brick, and its suddenly dead quiet in there, besides martin panting as he counts his running steps, and as they exit the fog he reacts like he just got gut punched and winded but keeps trying to run, footsteps leaving little foggy prints.. it buys them only a little time, but the disconnect from the eye or something shakes jon awake enough. Martin maybe pulls the foggy trick one or two more times to avoid the vampires coming back up to flank them, but it drains him each time, and at that point he tells jon hes gonna need some help, barely able to jog now in his stupor, and as he runs jon sits up against martins shoulder (or 'sits up' as best he can in that position) and gets to do his whole ceaseless watcher baloney and. Idk. I loved the visuals of someone on a motorcycle while their partner is on their lap shooting at pursuers behind them. Cursed and fucked up and evil version of that with martin running out of the fog and jon pulling a fun little pointing pose in martins grip as he curses the shit outta their own pursuers
anyway ty for indulging my rambling <3 have a nice day

Barbie as Rapunzel: First Thoughts
The following is my thoughts while watching this for the first time.
Wow, already an upgrade in the shading and lighting judging by this intro alone.
And the CGI looks better too! Nice casual outfit Barbie’s got on.
I assume each special will start out with Barbie reassuring Kelly about something? Hope this doesn’t get stale soon.
Already this special feels like it has an upgraded sense of scale.
Ooh so instead of a tower, it’s a mansion protected by a magic barrier. That’s… actually pretty cool! A nice change from the original, even if the home seems pretty modern looking on the outside.
I find it humorous that the name of one of the coolest Spidermen ever is also the name of a cockney rabbit sidekick.
A sweet and colorful dragon portrayed by Cree Summer? I’m getting flashbacks to Sonic: SATAM.
Peneople looks like if a Dragon Tales character was in an early PS2 game and I like it. She’s so cute!
Remember how I joked about Disney copyright last time? Seems like Rapunzel did the idea of Gothel being an attractive witch first.
Ok this entrance of Gothel riding through the forest is way more metal than Tangled.
Interesting how this Rapunzel calls Gothel “m’lady” instead of “mother”.
Speaking of Disney, Gothel’s design reminds me a lot of Lady Tremaine.
The ferret sounds VERY fruity.
Man Hobie straight up wants Gothel to die. Pretty dark for a Barbie movie.
I find it funny that shenanigans with a tea set caused a secret entrance to be found.
Lol, I can relate to Penelope’s hatred of snakes.
The plot thickens as we see Rapunzel discovering a message from her real parents way earlier than in Tangled.
Heh, the ferret uses it’s tail as a sleeping mask for Gothel.
Once again, a new room discovered via accident.
Wow and she’s already out of the tower and discovered the kingdom. This thing’s going along fast!
Why is seeing the chef in his comically large hat standing in one spot with a goofy smile on his face causing me to mentally cackle like a loon?
Punzie, the cook wasn’t trying to poison you. It’s just a free sample.
I LOVE the “rabbit’s ear as a radio antenna” gag!
Wait, Penelope has a dad?
Looks like both Penelope and Rapunzel have parental issues.
I can relate to Penelope’s fear of heights. It’s ok, honey, we can curl up into a fetal position together.
Hobie: “Does he ever smile?” Penelope: “Not around me”. God my heart just broke into a million pieces at that line. Why does this hurt more than anything Gothel says to Rapunzel?
It’ll never not be odd to see all of these children with the same face.
The Prince looks just like the one from the Nutcracker. I wonder if that’s intentional?
Of course the kings are too stubborn to hash things out. As a result, you get death traps like that pit.
I love the way Otto pronounces “vill-oge”. Hilarious.
Nice showing of both Rapunzel reporting her day to her friends and Otto ratting her out to Gothel at the same time.
Damn, Gothel using her magic to destroy Rapunzel’s paintings of Penelope is cold! Honestly this Gothel seems a lot more menacing and realistic than the Disney version.
I like how this Rapunzel is not only selfless but also has a backbone.
Trippy visuals with Gothel making the house literally grow.
As Hugo was assigned by Gothel to guard the castle, all he could think was “fuck my life”.
Hang on, the little blond boy’s name is Tommy? Wasn’t that the name of the younger brother in Nutcracker?
This boy’s got the “Phantom Menace Anakin” haircut and the personality. Brings back memories of the Prequels. Poor Jake Lloyd…
I like the fact that Stefan and Tommy have the same relationship going on that Barbie and Kelly do IRL
How on earth did the prince find the tower? Isn’t it in the middle of nowhere?
Apparently he “searched everywhere”, but it would probably take ages to go around the entire kingdom. I feel like it’d have been better if maybe one of Rapunzel’s animal friends had been followed by him.
Oh, wait. It was a dream! Ok, that makes more sense. Once again, I should have not underestimated the intelligence of the writers.
Headcanon: (Unless Penelope's mom shows up) Hugo's ex-wife is the dragon from Shrek and they share custody of Penelope. Hugo really hates donkeys now.
Holy crap, this is a beautiful melody Penelope is singing.
The knights remind me of Bert and Ernie. I’ve always loved that dynamic.
The mental paintbrush is a really cool idea. More properties should use it.
Rapunzel straight up saying she’d rather be dead than be a prisoner. Respect.
See, now is Stefan tired and exhausted from actually looking everywhere.
Maybe Rapunzel doesn’t want to know Stefan’s name in case it’s a dream or so that she won’t hurt as much if she loses him.
Once again, we have a prince not telling Barbie’s character he’s royalty.
It saddens me to know that the silversmith is unable to visit or speak to his brother due to the ban on Wilhelm’s kingdom. It’s a realistic worry.
Now we’re getting elements of Cinderella with the masked ball. Once again, connections since Gothel reminds me of Tremaine.
Hobie, I don’t think that Gothel is going to care if you’re in pain. Woman’s a total sadist.
Did Otto just orgasm?
The paintbrush really is OP. It can make clothes!
The mystical music is funny because right now, they’re doing the “girl tries on new clothes” montage.
Eh the final dress is ok, but I actually think the first “simple” one looked the best.
Funny how in Tangled, Rapunzel's hair gets cut by Eugene to stop Gothel. Here, Rapunzel's hair gets cut by Gothel instead.
Gothel, maybe don’t piss off the big strong dragon who has been willingly helping you?
Now we’re finally seeing King Wilhelm. I wish we got some more of him earlier.
Ok, Gothel has to have some sort of spell activated because how the hell did Stefan not think “why does your face look so different?”.
Love to see Penelope call her dad out on his bullshit, and get through to his softer side.
Nice to see her get some love from her dad after all this time.
WOO! Tommy used his bow and arrow to save his big bro! Kid’s got guts.
And now the little children pelt her with fruit!
Really impressive sword choreography for a Barbie movie.
So Gothel just stole Rapunzel from Wilhelm because she hated being in the friend-zone. Ridiculously petty.
And Rapunzel STILL offers forgiveness to Gothel! She truly is an angel.
Honestly, the fact that this Gothel is trapped inside the tower due to her own spell for all eternity is WAY more of a scary way to go then falling out of the tower like Disney’s Gothel did.
What a wonderful ending! Seeing everyone reunited and hearing that wonderful credits score gave me such a smile.
Hopefully a full review will come out sometime this month. I've got other creative AUs to help with. Let me know your thoughts in the comments and reblogs. @msweebyness @artzychic27 @nerd-chocolate

Miguel O'Hara x trans male s/o
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
you can ask him to help with your t-shots. he will agree to be the one giving them to you - for example if you have a fear of needles. you can take your shots together as well, he would be thrilled to share such an intimate moment with you. your trust and opening up about this means a lot to him.
if you don't take any hormones and/or haven't had gender reassignment surgery he doesn't think of you as less of a man. if you told him your preferred pronouns and name, or if he already knew, he is not questioning it a tiny bit. besides, it's 2099, people are opening portals to other dimensions and science probably debunked all anti-trans 'arguments', so the people are naturally supportive.
if you are not from his dimension, you will be the only exception to his multiverse rules, and he will have made those devices into nice jewellery or other accessories so you won't experience glitching + it's a more fashionable way of wearing them.
if you are a spiderman as well, you two can figure out a suit that you feel comfortable wearing and which gives you more gender euphoria. if you don't like the idea of a skin-tight spandex, he suggests using holograms to cover up - as extra clothing could just tear or things can get caught in it, worst case you get hurt because of an accident like this.
in this scenario he makes sure you two routinely visit your dimension, after all they need a spiderman too.
he is making am exception in enforcing your canon event. he probably won't ask about it, to not get anxious about the what ifs - if it hasn't happened yet, or if you prevented it. he just hopes for the best and knows that if all else fails, his universe is there for you.
he takes you to sports events and you play in your free time. he wants you to feel gender euphoria and this is the first idea that pops into his mind - things he also enjoyed growing up and where he found friends and community.
not that he hasn't got some dating experience on him, but so far it was never with a man and he contemplates on introducing you to 'the guys'. - he definitely has some people from university or work, or maybe from the spider-society he goes out with sometimes. he doesn't want you to feel alienated or dysphoric because of this, so he decides he won't give no mind to what other's might say. turns out they are pretty chill about someone bringing their partner to the group and it starts a trend.
on nights like this you two are probably the first to leave, as he has a lot of work to do and is very tired. doesn't mean that while he has the energy, you two won't be the chaotic duo of the band. mostly you, as Miguel is occupied with documenting everything to show you the next morning.
he is very grateful for you. he doesn't open up to a lot of people and after what happened to his family he toughg he could never be vulnerable with someone ever.
occasionally he brings up the topic of family, which is a bittersweet one for him. he definitely doesn't want to start a new one, but he likes to dream about a domestic life. he knows it may cause dysphoria for you, and thinks it would be the best to stop longing for something he will never have. a lot of times these conversations ended with him grieving his daughter and you trying to soothe him. if you are alright with it, he definitely wants to do charity work with kids.
the closest thing you ever got was adopting stray animals and you jokingly mentioning a radioactive spider farm, which really got him thinking about the exact structure of it. - he could create spidermen in dimensions that lack one!
if someone ever misgenders or isnults you, he probably won't know what to say to such blatant bullshit at first. totally live-miguel reaction face. after that, he just guides you away from them, maybe shoots a non-laser web on their mouth to shut them up, that he keeps with him only for this reason.
he saw spider-people wearing eachother's clothes and a bunch of different stuff, like pink robes, so he decides he wants to feel closer to his co-spiders by joining in - and prefering you do it too. it's totally not just an excuse to see you in a cute lab-coat, that's probably his and too big for you, or a hoodie he let you borrow. he just wants to make a fashion statement. one that shouts: "this person right here, is mine."
others won't really notice it in the vast sea of diverse spider-people, only the ones that work with him all the time. they probably have remarks about how h e is breaking all the rules he enforced, but to be honest, noone kept them either way, they were just sneaky about it. in the end, they like to see how their boss isn't perfect either.
Miguel wants to support you in everything you do. trying a new hobby? studying? art? he probably will fund it, and with his connections, though not unetically, will make you opportunities in any field you choose to pursue in your civil life. as spiderman you won't need anything more than the mask, and maybe him intentionally letting the press take some shots of you two. like if you're an artist, but as spiderman, you will probably become more of a celebrity.
on training days he likes to have friendly competitions with you. even if you are significantly weaker than him. his goal is to push you to the edge and help you become stronger.
he leans towards the meal-prep, protein shakes and pre-workout lifestyle, but that's only 70% of the time. he really enjoys things considered 'junk' food and just eating at restaurants with friends. tough after the pre-workouts hit, he stays up doing work, while you try to sleep away the fatigue of a trainig-session.
he wants to train you at martial arts, but finds you someone in your own lane. he thinks it'd be no fun for you to go against him with his physique, but checks in every time, to see how much you've improved.
he likes to live a generally low maintenance day-to-day life after all the guilt he has from being rich while there are people under the poverty-line. if you are middle-class or lower, he genuenly is amazed by some things you grew up with being normal, but he will want to adapt as not to make you feel bad about this gap.
of course he still has his luxury apartment and money, but he donates to charity more and tries to improve the life of the residents of Nueva-York. it's not clear whether or not it was you who induced this change in him. he feels full of life again and just a little bit more positive about humanity.
he wants to have a life and build a home with you. is thrilled if you too are involved in bettering his city's life, but ultimately the only thing that really matters is you two being each other's rocks.

Some thoughts about Miguel, the comics, and what it could mean for Beyond the Spiderverse
This post has spoilers in it! It also contains mentions of suicide. And it's also VERY long. Consider yourself warned.
Comic vs Movie Comparison
Going to be starting this off with comparing movie Miguel and comic Miguel. And to clarify before we get into it, I don’t think deviation from the comics is a bad thing, and I love both versions. Also worth mentioning that at the time of writing this I've only read the original series from 1992, Dark Genesis, and a couple of the temporal crossover stories (which I'm considering non-canon for the sake of this discussion). I might make another post like this once I've finished all of them.
Starting off with story deviation there's... not a lot for me to really say here, since we don’t know much about movie Miguel’s backstory aside from the part where he accidentally caused a universe to collapse, so there’s not a lot to point out in terms of story deviation yet. However his personality and behavior is a little bit different. He’s more serious in the movie. Now Miguel has always been more serious than most other versions of Spiderman, but in the comics he’s still humorous. His humor just tends to be more sarcastic and cynical (think a bit like Deadpool) rather than the quips and wisecracks you usually get with Spiderman. He’s pessimistic and actually pretty mean, especially when not in his Spiderman alter ego. I'll admit I do miss his sarcasm in retrospect, but at the same time it wouldn't really suit the role the movie has set him up to play. Plus his characterization in the movie is still super good, and I like it a lot.
Miguel in the comics does tend to be a lot less bouncy and acrobatic than most other spidermen, and that definitely shows in the movie too. But the movie did something I personally love, and pushed that aspect further, and made him almost animalistic rather than just a Spiderman that fights a bit more close quarters. He’s intimidating, he’s brutal, every move has weight and power that you can feel through the animation. They kept the inertia of his movements in mind, something they do for all of the characters but is especially noticeable and fun with characters like Miguel who have a lot of force behind their movements (This is also why I love how The Prowler is animated so much). One of my highest praises for these movies is that every character has their own unique style, and Miguel’s fits him very well and stays true to the comics.
And the last point I'm going to talk about before jumping in to speculation is the powers. There's not a lot for me to say here either in regards to comparison, since we've not really gotten a chance to see how movie Miguel's powers work, but I still do want to address it because if it's the same as in the comics, then he's actually pretty unique! Makes sense, considering he didn't get them from the standard radioactive spider-bite (more on that later). I am sorry to say but he is (probably) not a vampire (I say probably because it's entirely possible he is in the movie. But assuming it's the same as the comics, he isn't actually a vampire, just looks like one, since judging by the fact that Blade is... around... vampires are real in his world). Do keep drawing him as a vampire tho its hot.
Anyway. He does have those fangs in the comics! He also has venom! As in the paralytic toxin spiders use to catch prey, not the character. Another thing that sets him apart is that he... doesn't seem to have a spider-sense? At all? He has super enhanced normal senses, but not that sort of extra sense that pretty much every other spiderman seems to have. I don't know if this is true in the movie but it would be sort of neat. He also isn't sticky! Instead he has those talons to hook onto surfaces, those are a part of him, not the suit. Unless they changed it in the movie which is the one and only change i think would be super lame. But since they gave him the fangs I doubt it. There is one noteworthy difference between his powers in the comic and the movie, and it's that in the movie his webs seem to be technology based, maybe some form of energy or hard light technology, while in the comics he has spinnerets in his arms. It could also be a mix of both, or that could just be how his natural webs look. Either way I'm curious why that change was made, even if it was as simple as just to fit the futuristic aesthetic.
Miguel's Backstory
Onto the next section! I'm going to do my best to give a brief recap of Miguel's backstory, for anyone who doesn't know it. For the sake of simplicity I'm going to assume that his backstory in the movie is more or less the same as in the original comics, up to the part where he goes to another universe.
In the year 2099, most major cities are controlled by the interests of oppressive mega-corporations. Nueva York, controlled by Alchemax and their corporate police, is literally divided between the Uptown and the Downtown, the uptown being the shining, sparkling futuristic city where all of the rich and important people live, while the downtown is the crumbling remains of New York that have been built over, where all of those deemed worthless by Alchemax are confined to.
Miguel O'Hara is the head of the genetics project in Alchemax's R&D branch, leading their efforts regarding gene splicing and genetic manipulation. Miguel is a snarky, standoffish man, who’s just generally a jerk to pretty much everyone. He has a soft spot for Dana, his fiance, Lyla, his apartment's AI companion, and Gabriel, his younger brother, and... that's about it. Despite his rather high position in the company, Miguel has a strong distaste for Alchemax and its unethical scientific practices, and is determined to delay human genetics testing until he's sure it's 100% safe. After his reservations are ignored by the higher ups, and hasty human testing leads to the death of a man under Miguel's unwilling hand, he decides to quit working for the company. However, he's a valuable asset. Tyler Stone, the head of Alchemax, laces a drink for Miguel with Rapture, a hallucinogenic drug that alters genetic structure to cause almost guaranteed addiction and withdrawal so severe it can be deadly. Coincidentally, Rapture is only legally produced and distributed by Alchemax.
Rather than let himself be manipulated, Miguel decided to use his own genetic modification equipment to attempt to reverse the alterations made by Rapture. During the procedure, Miguel's supervisor, resentful of Miguel's fast rise through the ranks and his constant disrespect for his superiors, sabotaged the process in an attempt to kill him. Instead he ended up activating the gene splicing program, and spliced Miguel and a spider together. Why was a spider present at all, you may ask? The final result of this genetic manipulation project was super-soldiers, and Miguel had decided to take inspiration from a certain hero back in the Heroic Age. Spider based enhancements seemed to work pretty well back then, why not give it another go?
After emerging from the process very much not dead, but no longer human, Miguel has to navigate new powers, and the new dangers that come with the mantle he's accidentally taken. It's around this point when Miguel starts to have thoughts of taking his own life, and pretty consistently continues to throughout the story.
I'm not giving a full recap, this story is already long and I don't remember specifics for most things. Miguel faces a myriad of villains, future versions of classic spiderman villains and new foes as well. He also takes over Alchemax after usurping Tyler Stone, which I'll touch on again later. But throughout all of it a consistent theme for him is loss. Over the course of the original comics, he loses almost everyone he has any kind of connection with, in one way or another.
He has a falling out with his fiance, Dana, and before he can try to reconnect, she gets caught in the crossfire during a fight with Venom and dies in his arms. He finally starts to repair his broken relationship with his mother, only for her to be shot during a raid on Alchemax after she started working as a secretary. Gabriel eventually becomes so overcome with resentment for Miguel that he takes up the mantle of Green Goblin, and attempts to ruin his life and also kill him. Xina, an old flame he was rekindling his relationship with, left him again without so much as a goodbye. The only one he has left to turn to for any sort of familiarity or comfort is Lyla, and even she tried to kill him once. He cuts himself off from everyone who tries to make a connection with him again, because he's convinced that being close to him leads to people hating him, dying, or both. Assuming Miguel's backstory is the same up to this point, he's already at the lowest he's ever been. And probably stays there until he and Lyla develop the technology to travel between universes. Here's where the speculation kicks in.
Miguel finds another universe like his own. Another universe with another Miguel O'hara, except this one never became Spider-man. And this one never lost all of the same people that the other did. He and Dana got married, they have a daughter. They're happy. Not only does he have proof that it isn't just being close to him that gets people hurt, he has an opportunity. Because this other Miguel is dead, and this other Miguel isn't Spider-man. He could take his place and be free of his own unhappiness, his own burdens, and save the inhabitants of this parallel world the pain of losing him. And for a brief time he's happy, he doesn't have to be Spider-man, he has a family and a life that isn't full of danger and loss. And then he loses it all again, and is left once again with nothing but the feeling that it is his fault.
Further speculation, I think that's probably why he's so caught up with "canon"; it means that the losses he faced were inevitable. It makes him feel just a little bit better, a little less guilty. Yes, he's trying to protect other universes from possibly meeting the same fate as the one he caused to collapse, but he's also trying to make himself feel better in the process, even if he doesn't realize it.
Theories
This bit is going to be mostly unstructured, since I don't have any huge theories, just certain smaller points or plot elements I think are going to happen.
Miguel’s ties to Alchemax are going to come up, and they’re going to be important.
Alchemax is a company that originated in the 2099 comics. There has to be a reason they chose it for the company in Into the Spiderverse, because there’s dozens of other evil companies they could’ve chosen. But they chose Alchemax, the company Miguel has ties to, and then they set him up as an antagonist. It's going to be brought up, and it's going to be important.
Miguel and Miles will relate to each other
I say this because they're both very much outliers. They aren't their world's original Spider-man, they both have different powers and backstories than the other Spider-men. I feel like this is going to be called out, both as a way to call out Miguel's hypocrisy, and as a way for Miles to relate to him and find common ground.
Miguel was injecting himself with a gene stabilizer, or with something Rapture related
I know I'm not the first person to suggest the first part of this point. It makes sense--we know that the mutations from the spider DNA didn't all happen immediately. I also can't imagine that having your genome that dramatically altered is very good for you. I haven't seen anyone suggest the second part, but I think that's probably because it's not seeming very likely at this point. I don't want to rule out the possibility, though.
Peter B is going to be important to resolving the storyline with Miguel/Have a heart to heart with him
During the movie I got the sense that Peter B is trying to befriend Miguel, or at least to get him to open up a bit more. I think this is because he sees himself in Miguel. Yes, they're very different, but they're similar in ways that matter. Peter B looks at Miguel and he sees someone who's given up; on his principles, on his role, on his own life. Peter B has never been openly suicidal like Miguel, but before he met Miles he was still very much in the same spot. He had still given up on his ideals, on being Spider-man, and he made the choice to stay and destroy the collider not for a noble reason, but because he didn't care if he died. I think that Peter has recognized that same mentality in Miguel, and is trying to reach out to pull him back from that edge, like Miles did for him. I think the two of them have a lot of potential for some heartfelt interaction, and I hope I'm picking up on something that's actually there and intentional.
So that's pretty much it! This post is a lot more ramble-y and unstructured than I wanted it to be, but it was really just a way for me to get my thoughts out.

Hello! I sent this to vinelle and she said you've already seen it, so, thoughts on the new spiderverse? Do you have a favorite spiderperson? Thanks!
I have seen it.
Well, the thing is, as usual, I don't think you'll like my thoughts.
Also, putting in a read more as this is a fairly recent movie that I assume people don't want to be spoiled on.
It had fantastic animation, great art style, interesting designs for all the characters in a myriad of different styles. Wonderful diversity of the cast and universes. It's also nice to see what our heroes are getting up to after the last film, how all their problems weren't solved and they're still in much the same messes as ever.
However, for me, it's much weaker than the first film and not just because we get a "WAIT UNTIL PART TWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO".
First, for the part two bit, we get that this is a build-up film to whatever the next film is. We only introduce the problems and don't really get around to resolving them. We spend so much time between spider HQ and evil spot man that we don't focus on either as villains enough to really justify the time spent on either. Peter B Parker suffers a similar fate in that he just kind of... shows up with a baby. He's clearly comic relief again, but there's a very large question of why he's here and why he's doing what he's doing when he has about two seconds on screen to justify himself then uh change his mind, I guess. And from what we saw of part one, while we had some great fight scenes, I'm not sure they all justify what will ultimately be around a 4 hour runtime for both films.
The other bit is that it's a movie that... kind of gets the characters to do what it wants them to do. It's a hard sell for me to tell me that all the Spidermen (except for Myles) are getting together to make every other Spiderman's life miserable because one Spider Vampireman blames a teenage kid for the universe collapsing. Miguel comes off absolutely unhinged and I'm hard pressed to believe that most, if any, of the Spiderpeople we see recruited go along with this (when their role isn't so much to save people and help out other Spiderverses but make sure Uncle Ben dies horribly). We get a lot of justification for Gwen in that her life was falling apart, she'd lost her father completely as well as her only friends, and this gives her purpose and a found family. However, Peter? Peter who is an adult with a child and watching out for his own universe?
We also know of at least one universe that has survived without a Spiderman that is supposed to have a Spiderman (looking at you 42) so... why do they all assume the universe collapses if Spiderman doesn't do the same things in exactly the right order. Perhaps there's proof offscreen, but what happened to New Mumbai (especially given Spot was fucking with a particle collider) doesn't read as proof for me. Especially not for in universe characters.
It's also a bit strange when, from the last film, the point was that all the Spiderpeople are choosing to be Spiderpeople in a very individualistic manner that... doesn't lend itself to these people forming an HQ making decisions they don't agree with.
Myles even brings this up. Why is Hobie involved if he doesn't like what they're doing? Hobie never answers this then uh... leaves when it's convenient for him to do so because the plot said so.
Now, this one might get me killed if the rest hasn't already, but while I loved the animation itself the way it happens in the film is often a bit much. Don't get me wrong, it has great style and I love this age of artistic vision we're entering with animation. However, there was often too much on screen at any given moment (and this is the case with both the style and the dialogue). We'd get rapid fire quippy dialogue as the screen whirls past us, five things are happening at once, and as a result it's almost exhausting to watch. There were a lot of parts of the movie (the Lego Movie reference for example) that felt thrown in to show off artistic prowess as well as to make a gimmicky reference the audience will like. The issue isn't that they're there at all, but that there's so damn many of them. Add into that that we're already in a two-part film and I start to wonder if we couldn't have cut a lot of this.
To sum up though, don't get me wrong, I thought it was good and easily one of the best animated films I've seen in years. I will absolutely see the continuation film. I would still recommend people go see it but I'd tell you that if you're in it for story more so than art maybe just stick to the first one.
As for my favorite spiderpeople? You've come to the wrong blog. But I suppose I'll pick Peter B, you good old comic relief guru homeless man. He didn't do much in this film, but he was my favorite from the last one.

You watched across the Spiderverse? Awesome! What parts did you like? I'm honestly also planning to rewatch it as soon as I can!
Spiderverse spoilers ahoy please keep scrolling if you haven't seen it yet!
Yeah, I've definitely seen it!! Into the Spiderverse is one of only two movies I have downloaded onto my laptop, and I was very excited that the sequel was coming out.
The creators, Lord and Miller, just have some of my favorite writing of any movies. They're also responsible for the Lego Movies! All of their dialogue just is really natural and funny, the characters always are really full of life. And the animation!! I feel like as a superhero movie, anyone who enjoyed Rise of the TMNT should almost automatically like Spiderverse movies lol.
My favorite part of the new movie is absolutely The Spot, I LOVE funny to terrifying villain arcs. The entire time I was trying to figure out where I had heard his voice before and he was in Klaus as the main character lol.
"This is my first time robbing someone, please don't make this a bad experience for me :(" to a visual of him looming over thirty dead spidermen and it being believable was so fun, I can't wait to see his big fight in Beyond the Spiderverse.
Tumblr media
I was also really excited to see Miles 42 and Aaron 42. The second I saw what number popped up onto the Go Home machine I knew what was about to happen, but since I don't read many marvel comics, the specifics of that dimension still threw me for a complete loop. I had guessed Miles was helping his uncle, but not that he was the villain. VERY fun, I hope that in the next movie this has significance on our Miles' arc.
Tumblr media
Overall I think I prefer the first movie SLIGHTLY more, but that's because it tells a complete story whereas Across the Spiderverse was only a part 1 and was a lot of setup for the third one. There were just a couple emotional beats in itsv- when Peter died, the Leap of Faith scene- that are almost impossible to follow for me, haha. But it did an incredible job of being a sequel to the first movie, and I'm very excited to see the next one, too!

@bellytochin asked; How on every earth does an opossum end up at a headquarters for Spidermen? No idea, but there Daisy is, being the loveliest lady and hissing at people who get too close to her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Had he known any better, an encounter like this shouldn't happen, at least outside the tower's walls. Keeping pets had not only become a hobby that plummeted in popularity as the years progressed, the practice had been outright banned within Nueva York towards the tail end of the century, in a bid to eliminate potential vectors for disease.
As much as Miguel had intended to adhere to this rule, he had come to realise, very quickly, that it was impossible to maintain, a completely untenable prospect, given the circumstances. After all, under his watch, the Society gathered together Spiders & Anomalies of all sorts and descriptions-- it stood to reason that, occasionally, something unexpected would slip through, unnoticed.
Armed with this expectation, it dampens an urge to do the expected, inform the megacity's authorities about what has been found under his roof. Instead, keeping a reasonable distance, the Society's leader stares at the marsupial for a moment, head canting sideways as he ponders. A few minutes is all that's required to make a decision, practiced immediately as he unhurriedly slides into a low crouch crouch opposite them, observing the coiled creature the entire time.
Where most of his fellow variants would seize the opportunity to practice some new material, making jokes at the animal's expense, Miguel himself kept quiet, refusing to make any sudden movements to prevent chasing the opossum off. By the time that he spoke, it was merely to make an informed guess, asking; "Are you hungry, little one?"
