okay so apparently sometimes herons eat eels alive, and then those still-living eels sometimes just straight up bite their way out of the heron's stomach or throat.

nature is so fucking metal sometimes, and this time its extra horrifying. my biggest question is how the heron doesn't drop dead from the blood loss of having a eel BURROW THROUGH YOUR THROAT/STOMACH. but i mean they probably didnt last long after these pictures were taken. still crazy though
