You know, this is a funny joke post, but it also highlights a key theme of the series.
Ultimately, “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power” isn’t just a love letter to the idea of sapphic romantic love. It’s also a love letter to love in all of its forms (the parent-child love that both Queen Angella and King Micah have for Glimmer, the deep friendship/found family love between the members of the Best Friend Squad, the romantic love between so many different characters, and Adora’s love for Etheria as a whole that drives her to do great things) and, more specifically, the ways in which love is about reaching out beyond yourself to embrace another person as a whole and complete being.
And that’s something Horde Prime can never understand…because the only form of love that he has in his twisted little heart is an intensely narcissistic and selfish self-love for himself and his clones that he never extends to anyone else. And so because he cannot understand love, Horde Prime seeks to destroy it and yet ultimately he can only suppress it via the chips because it is not something he can truly ever destroy.
So fast forward through the five seasons of lesbian pining at your own peril, Anillis Kur. Cause that sapphic yearning is going to be your undoing.
@horde-princess @disregardcanon @lady-asteria @nooneleavesforgood
When you're an interdimentional dictator and peer into the mind of your hostage for vital intel on a nuke and what you get is five seasons of lesbian pining.

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVOLUTION comic Issue No. 1 by Dark Horse Comics (available here)
Summary:
"Journey to the earliest days of one of the universe’s most consequential, and fraught, team ups in this first issue of the official four-part prequel to the Netflix streaming event. Hordak is an ambitious general, eager to make his mark; Skeletor is an aspiring mage, hungry for power. Joining forces, melding ancient Eternian magic with advanced Horde technology, could bring them all their evil hearts’ desire…but they’ll have to survive each other first."
I'm going to proudly admit that I've sacrificed hours of sleep writing this, sorry for the bad spelling.
Okay, Masters of the Universe Revolution prequel comics was released early past month (May 15th) and as a MOTU/She-Ra fan I just had to check on it after watching the last season. And oh boy, there is a lot to unpack here….
The story of this prequel arc is centered around Keldor's origin and life as Hordak's apprentice, very much like "The Secret Origin of Skeletor" from the Minicomics era (which you can find here in @emperorsfoot blog), which took a lot from the He-Man 200x show and comics. I would say this is a rightful continuity to what the 200x never did, but with a pitch of new plot material and new perspectives to add.
For once, the writers also took a focus in Hordak's mysterious backtory and point of view through the issue, now is not only Keldor who shows his perspective of the story but also Hordak has something to say; both are the protagonists, not only one of them, which also shows us a glimpse of their future relationship as apprentice-master.
Lets start.
The story begins with a tale told by an unknown figure, (whose identity is addressed in the next pages) about a big battle (the first balled in the Universe) between the forces of Zoar (our beloved Preternian God from which the Goddess' powers belong) and Ka, God who would be the representation of Serpos in this continuity (the deity of the Snakemen). As the tale says, both turned against each other... until Ha'vok arrived.
According to this unknown person, Ha'vok is a deity and power who brings balance between Zoar and Ka, but entered a type of... stagnacy over time. Now, who is the champion?
Now, the first scene of the issue, oh boy. I love when the Horde has a good intro.
The Horde has always been a favorite of mine, and the introduction of two new female characters (you know, because the writers can't use any of the female characters belonging to the She-Ra continuity due to copyright reasons) has put a smile on my face for real. These two characters were designed by Alex Gimenez, but he couldn't continue with the comic project unfortunately:
They are a cool new addition to the Horde team, and I am very happy to see the original Horde members around too.
We are in Anwat Gar... the Island which was already mentioned by the 200x show as a site with great technology, as well as in the Revelation prequel comics, showing us is the site where the Gar lived in this continuity.
The Horde is attacking the place for an unknown reason, and at some point is mentioned that magic is actually forbidden in that place, contrary to what is seem during Randor's rule in the present.
Meanwhile, where is Hordak?
You see it right??! for old MOTU fans, this is the Fright Zone playset!
Apparently, Hordak has used the attack as a type of distraction to get to this place, he is looking for answers, and only magical entities can give it to him:
I want to take a moment to appreciate the call back to She-Ra's classic comics because these Fortune Sisters are a tribute to the 'Enchanted Sisters' who canonically ended up tricking Hordak in the classic comics:
Also, some dialogue of the scene:
Who the hell is Gaull?!
Soooo I had to go back to the He-Man character encyclopedia, remembering that Hordak's father was caller "Seferus-kur" also known as Horde Supreme, killed by Horde Prime (Anillis Kur) and Hordak (Hec-tor Kur), this info is ONLY in the MOTU 2008 bios and also to the 200x continuity (that is the story they wanted to use for the comics), so I guess they have choosen to retcon Hordak's origin story and also add a name for his father, because contrary to DC's interpretation, Prime is Hordak's older brother here:
Note to add, Revolution's continuity choose to go by a technological background for Hordak rather than magic, making the Horde a highly technological empire which despises magic.
More dialogue, Hordak's prompting to Eternia's ChatGPT
Man... the future will kick you in the ass.
Also, FINALLY the introduction to our second important protagonist in this issue...
Keldor's backstory is very similar to his 200x one, the only difference is that in this continuity he knows who his mother is, as if he had been raised by her rather than with Miro's. In fact, he was pushed to go and live with her by his father in the end. And surprise, she is a magic user, which was already pointed out as something forbidden in Anwat Gar, but Keldor doesn't care and uses his magic to attack the Horde invaders.
Saryn (Keldor's mother in 200x, here we don't have a name yet but I guess they will go with her original one) is the first magic teacher of Keldor, and she taught him for most of his young life, together with the magic history of Eternia, so we can already imagine who was narrating the story of Eternia's deities in the begining:
She taught him two things 1) we are made to defy and surpass our teachers 2) Keldor is destined to exceed Miro (Randor's and Keldor's father) at all cost and become a champion.
As well, she maintains a kind of telepathic connection with Keldor, where she constantly tells him he is destined to be a champion. But if she communicates with Keldor this way, where is she? apparently in some type of expedition:
Meanwhile Hordak has become frustrated by the Fortune Sister, who are trying to follow his indications, but going around the destiny of... someone else, who will accompany him through a parallel path:
"Grayskull's heir, yet unborn, will ground the ascendat bat, and in the fierce and final battle, Des-"
Screams internally... Hordak shut up and let the magic women speak.
Interesting thing, there seems to be a disagreement between some of the Fortune Sisters here, I wonder why?
*snorts* I really love this panel so much, Hordak is just so arrogant he thinks he would get it right away... man what if this was charged by some type of magic that would have killed you in an instant?!
Now we get to Anwat Gar again, where Keldor is trying to reach his mother while battling the Horde, meanwhile the citizens are more concerned about a magic user saving them than the whole Horde army around destroying the city, so we can say they have their priorities.
Finally Hordak arrives, helping a wounded Keldor and telling him it was all a distraction, as well Hordak tells him some interesting things:
"My name is Hordak, Supreme commander of the Horde fleet, Next in line to the Emperor's throne" hmmm...
Is important to highlight, is not Hordak who convinced Keldor to join the Horde, but his mother:
Finally, Keldor is recruited by Hordak to join the Horde, telling him they had uncovered a great power, and manipulating him (quite easily) to search for his rightful destiny.
Some things I liked about this issue:
The illustrations and art are ways better than most MOTU comics I've seem, even DC comics gets short in quality.
I liked the subtle call backs to the classic comics, the use of new characters, especially with the copyright issue, I believe the Fortune Sisters are going to reemplace Shadow Weaver, and the new Hordewomen are here to stay. We can see they cared for this story, especially with how much Lore they are trying to inplement here, blending most of the past continuities to create a new logic.
I liked that the Horde is a technological empire, just like the classic Filmation shows, and Hordak clrearly is the same arrogant and proud commander, still I can see he is more cunning and intelligent here, not the buffoon he was in the 80s, he is a good blend between his past continuities, including 2018. There is ambition in what he says, but his arrogance takes the worst of him.
If I have to point out what disappointed me the most... I do believe Keldor's introduction. He seems to be too young maybe, still focused in his mother's teaching and being seem as a rightful heir by Miro, his father. He is easily manipulated both by his mother (we don't know if she is good or bad yet) and by Hordak. he is desesperate to have his destiny and legacy.
I don't trust the Fortune sisters, or the only one of them who presented Hordak's with the Ha'vok staff, is evident she is going to be an antagonist in the future, and maybe she is Keldor's mother trying to led his son into a path for power using Hordak, which could be Keldor's undoing.
Thanks to @pennamesmith @lemaistrechat and @kuurankaiho for talking with me about this issue, is always good when there are more MOTU material to explore XD

Hello, this might be one of the most ridiculous designs I’ve ever did. And that’s only the beginning!
Horde Primal sure is a funny pun, but I think he would still use some sort of a name at this point in time. Maybe I should steal Anillis Kur?

You SO made my day.
I love seeing what goes in the head of Anillis, I love seeing what went in the head of Prime, I love everything about Hec-Tor and Anillis' dynamic.
I love your art and how clean the lines are, and I love how expressive and beautiful they are. The clothes, the hair, everything. Their fine traits, making them look both cute and handsome, the twins are ageless.
I love seeing their interactions. Oh dear how I love them. How the Two Halves function in Harmony. And how the level of trust is there. They need no one else, but each other.
Hec-Tor's cluelessness destroys me but at the same time it fill sme with such contradictory feelings: with utter, unaltered joy and gratefulness, because he is the ONE person who loves, and trusts, and respects Anillis for who he truly is, and that is all he ever wanted, and will ever want. Right?
Yet. There is such a deep profound implication that this is going down.
But for now, I just enjoy seeing them together.
Also, this may be questionable, but I'll say it anyway: Anillis, I FEEL your pain. The Conforming to Social Expectations part? Yes I feel this. (I already have my own very relatable version of Prime, so no worry, you did not make me accidentally relate to Him x) )

What if “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power” was a novel and had an epilogue?
There was much rejoicing all across the lands and the realms of Etheria in celebration of Emperor Anillis Kur’s final destruction. From Bright Moon to Green Arbour, the peoples of that world called out with joy and triumph to celebrate their liberation from the great tyranny of the Lord of Aegyssa. For no longer would the long and terrible shadow of that pale and horrid Emperor loom over them or any other people or populace.
In the land of Plumeria, every city and every village rang the Chimes of Victory that had lain sad and silent since the days when Lord Hordak had first settled himself in Horror Hall. Queen Perfuma II declared the first Day of High Jubilation her people had seen in five-and-twenty years as the farms of her lands produced the finest fruits they had borne since the days of Queen Anthelia’s foundation of this realm. And the Queen called for all of high and low estate to come and stay with her in Rosenholt for a feast that lasted for five days and nights. And it was at the end of this festival that Perfuma II took as her bride and love Scorpia IV of Pinceria, now restored into her rightful duty as High Queen of the Scorpioni and Protector of Pinceria.
“Here’s hoping we have twins!” Scorpia cried out in a drunken stupor in front of every Princess on Etheria, resulting in fun and laughter for almost all of the rulers on the planet except for Frosta II of the Snows and Mermista III of Salineas.
For the Sea Queen still grieved for the loss of half her people at the hands of Hordak and the paws of Catra. Salineas was still a shadow of its former self, its temples and museums in worse ruins than the Titan’s Left Arm and all but a twentieth of its homes and houses left uninhabitable. Ethan the Sea Hawk called for his love to calm down and not call for the ritual drowning or scaphism of Izdubar and Eabani’s orphan daughter, but the Senate of Salineas declared that Catra would not be allowed within twenty miles of the Sea Gate for nine-and-twenty years without Lady Adora’s firmest supervision. And meanwhile, the child Queen Frosta II of the Snows could not forgive the mischievous cat girl for destroying the Princess Prom she had hoped to host for her entire short life. Catra had begged and begged for Frosta not to hold the Princess Prom against her, but it was to no avail, and Catra only barely managed to survive a perilous hockey game against a bunch of angry Frost Titans before Frosta would even look at her approvingly at the later Council Meetings.
Things in Dryl fared a little bit better. Hordak and Entrapta had taken to living as hermits in their mountain kingdom to escape the wrath of those who were still calling for their heads on a spit for what had happened in the Great War of 1003-1028. Hordak had taken to enjoying the technology of Dryl immensely, and it was he who was best at keeping records and managing the day to day running of a realm while his wife fiddled with her machines and her robots. Catra, Adora, Bow, and Glimmer had once had dinner with the monarchs of Dryl two years after Horde Prime’s Defeat, wherein Hordak and Bow had joked and bonded over their mutual love of technology and machinery only for an awkward silence to ensue once the subject of how they’d chosen to use their technological gifts they’d created for themselves. There were not many reunions between the former Supreme Leader of the Horde and the Best Friends of Bright Moon after that.
And Glimmer, of course, became Queen of Bright Moon as Glimmer IV. It was strange to think of how relatively short her mother’s reign had been considering the strange genetic mutation that had given both Angella III and her daughter immortality. The thought of outliving all those she loved grieved Glimmer immensely, and she found herself plagued by nightmares about the future.
“Glim, are you okay!?” Bow asked after the Queen woke up panting and screaming from yet another nightmare.
“I’m fine, Bow” Glimmer had answered, “Just another bad dream about bones and dust and hooded cloaks”.
Bow hugged her tight and did not let go for the rest of the night. She responded in kind for five nights in a row, but the only thing that could truly assuage her fears was the return of Catra and Adora into her life. The great heroine and her new love were happy to oblige their best friend, and there was a great celebration in the land of Bright Moon as soon as they arrived at the castle. Instead of a feast, however, there was simply a quiet meeting of reconciliation between friends torn apart by war and violence. And at the end of the evening, Glimmer made the firm announcement, repeated the next day in front of the public, that she and her found family would be leaving behind the Hidden Castle in the Glen where they had been concealed from the Horde since the death of Queen Luminesca the Great during the tragic end of the First Great Princess Alliance twenty years ago and returning to Bright Moon’s ancient capital city of Crystallium Adamantis by the end of the Winter Solstice. And there was much rejoicing in the Realm of Bright Moon at the rebirth of the long lost city which the Horde had destroyed so long ago. Every realm on Etheria vowed to pledge their money and resources to the rebuilding of Crystallium Adamantis, with even Queen Huntara of the Crimson Waste and Peekablue of Apiaria and the High Regent Rogelio of Pinceria (who ruled the former Fright Zone while Queen Scorpia was absent on official business or off gallivanting with her wife through flowery fields and forests) contributing to the Great Reconstruction. Frosta of the Snows contributed the finest crystals to light up the streets of the city and granite stone to reinforce its walls. Perfuma and Scorpia sent forth flowers to decorate the streets and vines to help with construction machines and two pets for Glimmer and Adora to cherish and nurture alongside Melog, a greyhound named Nathanoel and a cat named Molly. From Salineas came the finest marble and fountains to provide material and sustenance respectively to the workers and to the citizens. Even Pinceria contributed its finest crystals and fire liquid for the sake of the city’s growing infrastructure. Not one expense was spared as the city was reborn from its own ashes and into a brand new light and dawn.
And one day, as they sat together bathing in the sunlight in a field where the sound of the city’s rebuilding could still be heard going on in the distance like the cosmos’ most bass and percussion heavy orchestra, Catra turned her gaze to Adora’s beautiful face and looked at her with the kind of hard won love and admiration that could only come from long years apart in darkness and sorrow. For a while though, Catra did not want to gaze upon the object of her heart’s desire, for she felt unworthy of the love of someone so magnificent and so beautiful. For so long she had tried to destroy Adora, to obliterate the Great She-Ra from her life just so the aching in her soul could cease and she could sink into a passive, apathetic contentment of the kind she had briefly felt both as de facto leader of the Horde and when she was under the thrall of Horde Prime’s terrible hive mind…but that was not true happiness. That could not fill the void that Shadow Weaver had torn in her soul so long ago, or heal the wounds that life had cut into her heart. It was a kind of ‘happiness’ that more resembled silently slipping into quicksand while being too apathetic to resist its pull, not the true kind of bliss that comes from reaching out to love another soul with all your heart.
And with these thoughts, Catra began to weep profusely, her head buried in Adora’s chest as she begged silently for forgiveness and absolution. And yet Adora did not say a word, but merely stroked her love’s short brown fur and sang a lullaby of long ago that Glimmer had taught her to calm and soothe the woman whom she adored so much.
You're okay You're alright I'll never, ever leave your side I will stay and I will fight With you
Aah aah aah Aah aah aah
You're okay You're alright I'll stay here through the darkest night All the way, I will fight With you
We may not have sunshine, or starlight, or weather But we've got each other, and that's even better
You don't need the sun to keep you warm when you've got arms Wishes come from you and not a random shooting star We may not have storm clouds, but the sky's always blue
We've got something special here And what we have is you What we have is you What we have is you
And with that having been sung, Catra lifted her head from Adora’s chest and wiped her nose and let Adora pull her into a hug which she gladly reciprocated (though she still continued to weep rather profusely into Adora’s strong, broad shoulders as Adora continued to sing to her).
And as the two girls continued to hug each other as tightly as they could, Catra began to find herself overwhelmed by an emotion she had never truly felt before in her life, except mayhaps when she was a little newborn kitten during the tiny, precious sliver of eight months wherein she still had her fathers to love and cherish and nurture her before Shadow Weaver had killed both of them and taken her away to the pain and torment of the Horde. It was the love of a family, a love that Catra and Adora had not been given much of in their childhoods and for which they had been forced to tear and grab and scrape and stitch together out of the torn and broken pieces the universe had left them.
“It’s alright, my love” Adora said, “I’m here. He’s gone, she’s gone…neither of them can hurt us ever again”.
Catra smiled at that declaration of hope and reassurance and ceased her tears. For it was true. Horde Prime was dead and Shadow Weaver was gone, and both of them had been cast forever into the Oblivion that awaited all those who were wicked and cruel and mistreated their fellow beings. And Catra was free, and Adora was free, and all of Etheria was free. No longer would they live in cold and darkness, frightened of punishment and pain and desperately trying to hide themselves away in the shadows and corners of their minds. The scars would always stay on their souls, but at long last they had begun to heal and the hurt was weakened.
With that having been thought, Catra turned her face to the sky and Adora followed suit. Before them stretched an infinite universe of wonders and possibilities, filled with strange and beautiful creatures and worlds who were all living and hoping and dreaming in much the same way the peoples of Etheria were doing in their lives. One day, they would all hear the stories of the two heroines who had saved them all with their hard-won love, and even if they never sang hymns or praises to the glory of either Catra or Adora, Catra prayed that they would all be okay and safe and overthrowing any remaining Horde Clones who still oppressed or hurt them.
Right now though, Catra and Adora were just so, so happy.
“We'll have eight kittens, my beloved” Adora said, “and we will raise them all with the love and happiness that was denied to us and tell them stories of Etheria’s great and wonderful history and protect them from anyone who wants to hate or hurt them because of you”.
“Sounds great” Catra purred, “I bet you’re already thinking of names for them”.
“I am, my dearie” Adora chuckled.
Melog came to join his mistresses not long afterwards, curling himself contentedly on their laps as all three of them fell asleep dreaming of the wonderful stars.

I finally succumbed to my brain’s incessant demands to make a long form Aria comic. I figured I should post the first few pages and see what people think??? and then keep going until I run out of steam. I guess this is the start of the first chapter, which is her getting dragged into the robot virus uprising from Season 1. Uhhh enjoy

Whenever I see that Anakin and Padme meme, my first thought is literally Anillis and Hec-Tor in @revasnaslan ‘s Where One Fell Verse (AU!Horde Prime and AU!Hordak respectively).
Does this precisely happen in the fic? Not exactly, this time I made a fanart comic just very much inspired by the fic instead of trying to visually adapt a scene.
A little more context and talk on a design detail, and tbh also putting this down because I love talking about this worldbuilding detail: for Anillis and Hec-Tor’s people, their white “masking” grows on their face later as they physically mature; before that, they’re born a lot like Imp.
More of my thoughts on this great fic series! And thoughts on my latest fanart for it:
I’ve always felt from the fic that Anillis has this additional undercurrent of regret over his duties as Prime also specifically taking away time from Hec-Tor, taking away time that Anillis could have looking after him and just spending time with him, he feels like he’s missing out on time with his baby brother and seeing him grow up.
And on a related note, I’ve always felt Anillis has this undercurrent of some jealousy for the minder clones he has looking after Hec-Tor; like despite all logic (he’s set up the system where this happens/he had the clones made to serve his will and for Hec-Tor’s sake), deep down he still feels some emotional resentment over the clones getting time with Hec-Tor and Hec-Tor getting attached to the clone attendants due to that that, because that should be him caring for Hec-Tor and getting the time with him as his actual blood brother--if things were different, if things were better, it should’ve been him... And it’s also just part of what feels like the undercurrent of overall frustration that Anillis has deep down with the whole situation in my opinion, especially with how it started--the loss of their parents, besides being trauma in itself, also meant Anillis had to take the throne while feeling responsible for a newborn sickly brother while Anillis himself is barely of age. It’s a mess of a situation with a lot of complicated feelings and it’s screwed up Anillis, from what I’ve seen.
Also I think I remember @revasnaslan mentioning that Anillis does miss Hec-Tor’s younger years and has keepsakes of that time, and that he felt more upset deep down when Hec-Tor’s masking started coming in because it meant he was growing up and wouldn’t always be little, and reminded Anillis of time he missed with his brother.
So, Anillis trying to hide feeling more upset in response to Hec-Tor’s masking starting to come in for my fan hypothetical meme comic. Also the comic touches on other thoughts I have on WOF!Anillis--I think he does have moments of feeling “what I’m doing to my brother is f*ked up” and “this will upset Hec-Tor” and regret over that, but he thinks it’s a consequence of doing what’s necessary rather than a red flag that he should stop and change his behavior. Anillis thinking it’s harsh, but better than a more threatening alternative. And so, in the comic, his reaction is more implied “feeling sh*tty about this but it’s for the best.”
I just, I love this Anillis, I find him so fascinating with so many layers, I love reading him and developing my own interpretations of him based on that.

I had a headcanon that kinda deals with SPoP and some of the other incarnations of He-Man. Trying to justify them in a relatively singular universe...
We know Horde Prime is beyond obsessed with making the universe in his image, and keeps his past selves as backup memory storage. Ideally, that's kinda dumb since they are already useless and you could make backups of your memory, so why?
The answer, he ISNT the real Prime. He is Kec-Tor-Kur, the true original Hordak that was defeated long ago by King Grayskull and was nearly killed, being split in two. Every aberrant clone takes the name Hordak, ironically being closer to his true self, but the current Prime is subconsciously looking to be more like his older brother, the True Horde Prime who exists locked in an extra dimensional prison.
Also, I headcanon the First Ones are a splinter group from the Eternian Elders who felt science trumped magic. Their leader (cant think of his name but he was the traitor in the Eternity War comics) watched Veena give her life to create the Gem of Protection in order to create She-Ra, and so...he made a mockery of it, a controller. The sword in PoP is a mockery of the true relic that exists deep in Grayskull, waiting for Adora...
This is very interesting and well thought out. This has the makings of a really epic AU. I think you should write it! It'll be fun to read!

Ahhhhhh I’m so happy to see Spacebat Huevember kick off with Anillis from Where One Fell Verse!!! He looks great in your style @luna-tiel ! Adore the watercolor look and the delicate linework, and the expression conveyed, everything’s just well constructed. This really makes me think of one of the scenes in the fic series with the costuming detail, it feels like it captures it well. ^_^ And yesss, I’d love to see more Where One Fell Verse in other Huevember prompts!
Ahhhh I’m still flipping out with delight, Anillis looks so great here! I love seeing Where One Fell Verse fan content. :D
Huevember Day 1 - Neon - Prime
How could I not start my Spacebat-themed Huevember with some version of Horde Prime? I chose Anillis from the Where One Fell verse by @revasnaslan because I love that AU so much! I love the slow-drip worldbuilding and the character development. There may be more from the AU popping up again for other hues…
Much as I wanted to use traditional paints for Huevember, I don’t have the prep time, so I’ll be using the opportunity to experiment with digital wet media effects.

Let me explain why I like Hordak as a character
For me, there is always gonna by a Big Bag worse than him, doesn't excuse his actions but makes him struggle, only exception was 200x Hordak, but because the show was cancelled and they didn't go beyond the initial idea of him, his backsatory was brushed and he was mostly a two dimentional villain, and not even mentioning the DC comics which bastardized him deeply.
He ins't a redeemable character the moment he helps or joins the protagonists (be He-Man, She-Ra, the Masters, whatever who is helping in the plot), I knew that about him from the very beginning and that is the type of complexity I like about him; he is actually The Atoner and in several comics and even classic eps he has shown qualities of such. Meanwhile, Horde Prime or Anillis Kur, his older brother, is always behind his back, and he fears him and respect him, but every time he fails, Prime mocks him and threats him.
As well, in one of the most emblematic classic comics "Masters of the Universe Star Comics issue No. 11" from 1987, the idea of Hordak losing his memory (and with it his Horde conditioning) and slowly becoming an Atoner was alredy there:
But then he is manipulated magically by Shadow Weaver (insteresting concept, just how she did with Adora for years) and he returns to his way due to both the conditioning and his memories returning too, but he still has a choice of his own in the end.
The final point is Adora/She-Ra.
She is always involved in his plan in some way, be stoping him or him wanting her back because even in the classics, he raised her. Maybe not in the 2018 show, but even briefly there were several parallels between both. She is important for him be good or bad. I have no idea how to explain this further, but they understand each other, Adora as She-Ra mocks him in Flowers for Hordak and he immediately agrees to helps the rebels if they take Perfuma away, he abandons a battle he was winning after She-Ra helps him in Into the Dark Dimention. And involving Adora, he praised her from the very beginning even when he hasn't to because she was magically manipulated by Shadow Weaver, and until the very end his tunnel vision is the idea to get her back.
"But he kidnaped her as a baby!" a terrible thing indeed, but the Universe of MOTU isn't a peaceful one, because when this happened, the Sorceress erased the memories of Adora from the Eterians, even as a show explanation, there was apparently no further investigation about her, and years later Orko and Duncan kept the secret of He-Man's identity being Randor's son when he had been in more near death experiences that we can count, that is also horrible. And I can tell you isn't the worst thing a villain has ever done before, just ask Skeletor, or even Zodac.
But the basis is, the idea of joining or even help reluctantly the heroes, be for or against his own ideals is there, it exist as a concept for him, meanwhile when we are faced with Prime's ideologies and way of ruling, it isn't. In some way Hordak as a character adapts to the situation but also understand the other side of the coin, he express reluctancy, he has deep flaws due to his arrogance and he fails because of this, and he also express a choice of his own idependently of Prime, could you imagine what would happen if Prime finds out about him allowing the Rebellion to go unscratched because he felt he owed one to She-Ra?
And every time he is in some type of trouble, She-Ra helps him somehow because is very likely she understand this about him.

(tbh I’m not sure about tagging “Hec-Tor Kur” because I don’t know if tumblr can handle hyphens. Still debating if I want to accept just doing “Hec Tor Kur” as a tag but that just looks kinda off to me at the moment, as does “HecTor Kur.” So still including it under “Hordak,” also because Hec-Tor really does feel like AU!Hordak to me, it’s Hordak if he had a different life like this.)
😨 FEARFUL, 🔥 FIRE, 🚆 TRAIN , 🎭 MASKS, and 🕷️ SPIDER for anillis and hec-tor 👌
😨 - when scared, do they go into “flight” or “fight”?
Hec-Tor doesn't have any kind of combat training, and he's been sheltered for his entire life to the point he doesn't have any kind of fight response in the vast majority of situations. If he is in any kind of danger or he's scared, he immediately seeks protection in someone like Anillis or Caduceus, because they will 100% protect him if he was in some kind of danger.
Anillis does not have a flight response. At all. His reaction to being scared is to immediately threaten the source of his anxieties and fear with bodily harm, mayhaps even execution. He's dramatic like that.
🔥 - do they have any self destructive tendencies? what habits do they have that hinder them from becoming their best self?
Hec-Tor's most toxic trait is that he's incapable of voicing his discontent. And yes, this is because anytime he's upset or has a perfectly reasonable request wrt his autonomy his brother (and any attendant/minder through him) has completely steamrolled that, but it does hamper how he interacts with others a loooooot, and it's something he'd have to work on once he's out of the current situation.
As for Anillis............ which one of his tendencies isn't self destruction. He's overbearing, overprotective, condescending, extremely codependent, self-medicates with sex and/or alcohol. He needs a whole lot of serious and intensive therapy.
🚆 - what is their answer to the trolley problem?
If Hec-Tor could, he would try to find a way to save everyone.
Anillis wouldn't even validate the question with an answer unless Hec-Tor was one of the people tied to the track. He's completely willing to doom hundreds, thousands, millions of people to suffer if it somehow protects Hec-Tor.
🎭 - do they act differently around certain people? what’s different between the way they act around friends, family, strangers, etc.?
Hec-Tor is very closed off towards people when he only interacts with them for a brief period, because he believes that his illness would automatically put a target on his back in most situations, just like Anillis has always stressed to him. It's only when he begins spending time with people that he starts to open up. This is not the case with the clones, though. He is always kind to them.
Anillis is actually well liked as a leader, since he plays the part of Prime very well, including performing all of the religious rites required of the position. He absolutely hates this, and the High Aurora knows this because they know he very well. The only person he is actually very open with is Hec-Tor, to a point at least. The closest he is to his true self is in those moments where he and Hec-Tor are interacting and there hasn't been mention of Hec-Tor's illness or the expectations weighing on Anillis. But even Hec-Tor doesn't know Anillis as well as he thinks he does, because Anillis hides the atrocities he's committed for Hec-Tor's sake from Hec-Tor as well.
🕷️ - what is their biggest fear? do they have any irrational / mundane fears?
Hec-Tor's is probably something akin to loneliness. He keeps losing the people he's close to and has no real friends outside of clones of himself, and that weighs on him a lot.
Anillis' is Hec-Tor dying. Like there isn't even a question about it. If anything happened to Hec-Tor he would kill everyone in the universe and then himself.

I've been meaning to do a fanart celebrating the completion of "Where One Fell" fic 1 by @revasnaslan (according to its ao3 info, it was completed in October--which tbh I take a special delight in because that's my bday too ^_^), and finally found time, an idea, and a way to quickly put it together based on the amount of time I had left.
I used a handy screenshot of Hordak and Imp to do a redraw-heavy edit for a take on a scene from WOF's first chapter with Anillis and young Hec-Tor. :) [And tbh I have other ideas on sketching this scene out, and this is one of them.]
More under the cut on part of what WOF also means to me on a personal level:
So I just know from ao3 it was completed in October, but I wasn’t aware of the fic then because I wasn't really in spop fandom at the time. During October then, I was probably fandom-wise still very dissatisfied with Kipo S3 and frankly upset over it. Also bringing all of that up specifically not to just reflect on like what I was likely up to fandom-wise when WOF 1 was completed--but also because WOF 1 really helped cheer me up after Kipo S3. ^_^
While in Kipo-induced blues that did not help with 2020's Everything (and 2020′s Ongoing Everything Right Now into 2021, etc.), I finally decided to just catch up on spop after seeing all the spoilers on my dash and get a better idea of what was up with it and reach my own conclusions or agree with some critical thought. I at least wanted Entrapdak in context, of which I had always been a fan of since season 2, and I had seen such cute fanart/cool meta for them on my dash.
I picked up from where I left off, somewhere in S3; and I did end up agreeing with the criticisms I had seen of spop before, but there were still some parts I liked and subfandoms I enjoyed--and it had WOF Verse. I was grateful for spop to get WOF. I feel like if I were very honest in suggesting the show to anyone, I would be suggesting it so they can then read WOF immediately after the show, or more like just after season 4. Or again, after the show for something more interesting. spop provides nice character designs and a nice visual aesthetic and nice voice acting to picture with the better writing in WOF.
I still sometimes feel like I might get weird about it, but since first finding it, WOF has been on my mind in one form or another as comfort, entertainment, and inspiration, and I do want to try to find more time to articulate my praise for and thoughts on it, as well as make more art for it, and also kinda go into how it's inspired my own spop AU ideas. It’s like, I’m a fan of WOF Verse like I’m a fan of other stories, and I want to express that with fanworks and discussion.

She-Ra: For Want of a Horse
This is the episode of the classic series where Hordak has “just returned from our Secret Headquarters where I received an important message from Horde Prime. ... he expects a birthday present. A good one.”
Hordak is despondent. “But what do you get for someone who rules our whole galaxy? Someone who has two of everything? Two armies, two space fleets...”
Shadow Weaver: “Two heads.”
“I was trying not to think about that.”
Wait, why? What’s distressing about your brother having two heads? Is becoming a two-headed creature a powerful spell he knows and you don’t? Is having two heads normal for your species and you don’t want to think about your disability?
Anyway, they decide that the best birthday present for Horde Prime would be She-Ra’s winged unicorn Swift Wind. They capture him.
Now here’s something interesting. At the start of this episode, Hordak called Horde Prime “ruler of a thousand worlds”, and it’s implied that each planetary commander is sending a birthday present. Hordak says:
"My gift to Horde Prime will be the finest gift of all! (snort) And he will remember me, and I will become his favorite commander. And who knows? (snort) Perhaps someday I will become Horde Prime!"
Your brother will REMEMBER you, IF you send the finest birthday gift? How would an intelligent being forget a sibling with whom they have enough of an ongoing relationship to give him a job? Post-SPOP, you could postulate that Horde Prime clones himself enough times to fill the position of dictator on every planet and remembers his planets but not really the individuating local clones, but it’s very unlikely that’s what any of the classic writers were thinking.
Because this.
The other thing to note is that “Horde Prime” is a title someone will succeed to. That makes Masters of the Universe Classics giving him “Real name” Anillis Kur actually useful, completely unlike claiming Hordak’s real name isn’t “Hordak” but “Hec-Tor”, like from the Iliad. Or that Mantenna is “really” “Glieeb-tolio Jak-us“. Sigh...
