Happy Birthday Scottish actor Angus Macfadyen born 21st September 1963 in Glasgow.
MacFadyen had a nomadic upbringing; thanks to his father’s job with the World Health Organization, he spent his childhood and adolescence in places no less diverse than Africa, Australia, France, the Philippines, Singapore, and Denmark. He went on to attend the University of Edinburgh and received theatrical training at the Central School of Speech and Drama. MacFadyen got his professional start on the Edinburgh stage, appearing in a number of productions at the famed Fringe Festival.
Breaking into television in the early ‘90s, Angus appeared in a number of series for the BBC, including an acclaimed adaptation of David Leavitt’s The Lost Language of Cranes. Following the critical and commercial success of Braveheart, the actor got a rudimentary dose of recognition across the Atlantic, but remained largely unknown outside of the U.K. He starred with Gabriel Byrne and Bill Campbell in the World War II drama The Brylcreem Boys in 1996, playing a German pilot being held captive in neutral Ireland. Until 1998, when he portrayed Peter Lawford in the made-for-cable The Rat Pack, MacFadyen’s other screen appearances tended to be in films that were widely ignored by audiences and critics alike.
He has played Orson Welles in Tim Robbins’ 1999 film, Cradle Will Rock, Philip in the BBC’s production of The Lost Language of Cranes, Dupont in Equilibrium and Jeff Denlon in the Saw series of films
Some of you might remember Angus in the excellent Takin’ Over the Asylum which also starred two great actors in Ken Stott and David Tennant. We last say him on the big screen in very underrated The Lost City of Z
Angus reprised his role of The Bruce last year in Robert the Bruce, among the co-stars, playing his wife Elizabeth de Burgh is Mhairi Calvey, who aged just 5 was ‘Young Murron’ in Braveheart. While I enjoyed the film, I thought that maybe the role of The Bruce was maybe better suited to a younger actor, but it was his “baby”, and he strived for years to get the film made.
He also appeared in the TV series Strange Angel, about a rocket scientist in 1940s Los Angeles is secretly the disciple of occultist Aleister Crowley, played by our man. I have yet to see this, but must look it up. The series was canceled after two seasons.
Angus is currently part of the Outlander cast playing a Redcoat Brigadier-General. He had a small part in the Kevin Costner film Horizon: An American Saga and was King Ferrel in The Last Redemption. Angus has a few other projects on the go.

Johnny English (2003, Peter Howitt)
15/02/2024
Johnny English is a 2003 film directed by Peter Howitt, the first in the saga of the same name.
Starring Rowan Atkinson with Natalie Imbruglia, Ben Miller and John Malkovich, it is an action comedy that parodies the spy story genre, in particular the James Bond film genre.
Johnny English is a British secret service agent, inept and clumsy, and for this reason relegated to office work for some time, although he continues to dream of becoming a real spy in the field.
English is tasked with thwarting a plot to steal the Crown Jewels, on display at the Tower of London; here he meets Lorna Campbell for the first time, a woman as fascinating as she is enigmatic. Meanwhile, during a blackout the regalia is stolen. English and his assistant Angus Bough, a young colleague who often proves smarter and more intelligent than his superior, despite relying on rather unusual investigation methods, discover that the jewels have been stolen by Dieter Klein and Klaus Vendetta, two German thieves low-grade; however English connects them to Pascal Sauvage, a wealthy French entrepreneur with many gray areas in his past. However, the man is very well regarded by the establishment across the Channel, so much so that Pegasus, English's superior, considers such conjectures absurd and orders him not to get involved.
Despite this, English and Bough decide to disobey and illegally enter Sayvage's London headquarters, looking for evidence that can confirm their suspicions: here the two discover that the man, a descendant of Charles Edward Stuart, aims to become the new king of England. Lorna also arrives, who turns out to be an Interpol agent, also interested in the entrepreneur's shady plans.
With English aware of their plots, Sauvage speeds things up and sends Dieter and Klaus to force Queen Elizabeth II to abdicate, also causing the entire Windsor line of succession to be swept away: so the English government has no choice but to offer the Crown right in Sauvage, last heir of the House of Stuart. They arrive at the French residence of Sauvage, where the man has invited numerous internationally renowned criminals to reveal his plans once he becomes monarch: to transform the whole of England into the largest prison in the world.
Discovered and taken prisoner, English and Lorna are saved by Bough and, once back home, rush to stop Sauvage's imminent coronation. English wreaks havoc during the ceremony, initially sparking laughter among those present in Westminster; however, when he manages to steal the crown of Saint Edward from the hands of the archbishop of Canterbury, the only one with the power to appoint a new monarch, the true nature of Sauvage emerges and he tries to kill English and threatens the archbishop himself, forcing the ceremony.

Raza Jaffrey as Dr. Neal Hudson, an ER attending physician. A British-Indian former surgeon, his approach is quieter and more people-oriented, than his mentor Dr. Rorish. He connected with Christa during her first year of residency. In "Hail Mary", Hudson becomes a surgical attending, and is once again assigned to the ER (season 1).[7][8]
Bonnie Somerville as Dr. Christa Lorenson, a mature first-year resident. She was married with a son who died of brain cancer. Her experience and her divorce inspired her to attend medical school (season 1).[7]
Melanie Chandra as Dr. Malaya Pineda, a first-year resident (seasons 1–2). She went to medical school and did her internship at Angels Memorial, and is more familiar with the ER. She is a lesbian, who was once involved with a resident when she was a medical student.
William Allen Young as Dr. Rollie Guthrie, an ER attending physician with a very nurturing style; he takes Angus under his wing in his first days in the ER. Guthrie's wife committed suicide, a death that strained his relationship with his son, a surgeon. During season 2, Guthrie is diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, and undergoes corrective neurological surgery to delay the onset of symptoms. Guthrie had a daughter who died from carbon monoxide poisoning while Guthrie tried to save his son from a similar death.
Harry Ford as Dr. Angus Leighton, a first-year resident. His father is on the hospital board. He feels overshadowed by that and by the achievements of his older brother, a former resident, but slowly grows in confidence. In his second year he is encouraged to transfer and become a surgical resident.
Benjamin Hollingsworth as Dr. Mario Savetti, a first-year resident. He grew up poor and sees emergency medicine as his way out. He worked as a bartender before medical school.
Luis Guzmán as Jesse Salander, known as "Mama". A senior nurse who manages the residents, Jesse is tough but caring and supportive of the students. He and Dr. Rorish have a long-term, close friendship.
Boris Kodjoe as Dr. Will Campbell, Chief of Surgery. In season 2 he is assigned as the new Chief of the combined Surgery and Emergency medicine department in order to save costs, causing strife between him and Rorish. Campbell has a disabled daughter (season 2–3; recurring in season 1).
Jillian Murray as Dr. Heather Pinkney, a surgical resident who becomes involved with Mario.(season 2; recurring in season 1). He quickly ends it when he hears about her side relationship with Dr. Campbell. She gets in further trouble when it's revealed she's providing Angus with Adderall. When confronted by Campbell, she threatens to turn their past relationship into a sexual harassment case.
Noah Gray-Cabey as Elliot Dixon, a first-year resident in the ER (season 2-3).
Emily Tyra as Noa Kean, an ER resident and former dancer. She begins a relationship with Dr. Mario Savetti (season 3; recurring season 2)
Emily Alyn Lind as Ariel Braeden (season 3; guest seasons 1–2)
Shiri Appleby as Dr. Carla Niven, a former resident at Angels Memorial and Malaya's ex-girlfriend. She is diagnosed with leukemia while pregnant, and refuses treatment not wanting to harm the baby.
Christina Vidal as Dr. Gina Perello, the replacement Director of the Emergency Department at Angels Memorial, who takes over when Dr. Taylor is put on leave.
Gabrielle Carteris as Amy Wolowitz, R.N., a nurse in the Emergency Department.
Meagan Good as Dr. Grace Adams, returns to the ER after volunteering in Haiti. She is Dr. Neal Hudson's ex-girlfriend.
Season 2[edit]
Nafessa Williams as Charlotte Piel, a new first-year resident in the ER who was formerly a popular teenaged actress.
Kathleen Rose Perkins as Dr. Amanda Nolan, a psychiatrist at the hospital.
Season 3[edit]

Angus is currently part of the Outlander cast playing a Redcoat Brigadier-General, he has no less than five projects on the burner at the moment, the pic of which, for us Scots is probably a movie called The Last Redemption, which also satrs the popular James Cosmo.

I am soooo excited to share my epic Bethyl playlist with you! I have named it “Big Bethyl MOOD”:
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1dSgNYDMqwSWEphWjSncRc?si=iSZ-IPNZSWaLwXrMgLF-BA&dl_branch=1
The songs on this list were chosen via many sources. I obviously included the two songs by Emily Kinney—the cover song she sangam Beth Greene in “Alone”—“Be Good” by Waxahatchee—for Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon, the one she wrote and sang—“Last Chance”—which was on her 3rd album—Expired Love—that she said has Beth and Daryl vibes. Other obvious choices was the song played at the end of “Still” while Daryl and Beth burned down the moonshine shack—“Up the Wolves” by the Mountain Goats—and the two songs that Norman has essentially said give him his own Bethyl feels—“Very Nervous and Love” by J Mascis and “Drowning Man” by U2. The rest of them are songs I have personally selected that put me in a big Bethyl mood, songs that other Bethyl shippers have suggested for me to make song lyric photo edits for, songs from the huge plethora of Bethyl music video tributes on YouTube, as well as from other Bethylers’ playlists that are inspired by this beloved pairing. 🐞💘💘🐍
For those of you who don’t have a Spotify account, below is the full list... just in case you would like to build your own playlist on a different listening/streaming music platform that you prefer.👇😁
