The jealous child, Three Sisters, and Consequences of a foretold prophecy
"I was supposed to be the youngest, I trained all through my childhood to save you all and yet I wasn't the glorified prophecy child that the Three Sisters foretold." Zeus snapped as he thrown his lightning at a poor mountain icy snow top above Olympus, cracking the top of it in half.
"I was supposed to be praised to lead everyone to greatness and glory that would have mortals worshipping us for eons but yet here we are split away from the mortal realms due because Pandora and that blasted human who killed our only remaining hold on the living world!" The clouds trembled deep grey as the sounds of thunder rumbled and crack, before the rains fell hard as Zeus nearly broke the stone table with his fist as he fell onto his knees.
"But even before I knew as time past on, I had cause the very downfall of Olympic Empire that the Sisters foretold if I kept what I'd done hidden away for all these years..."
Nearly all the Gods and Goddesses couldn't believe their ears, most were too shocked or disappointed to move beside Hades who steadily walked toward Zeus.
Hades help him get up from his defeated looking form before speaking.
"You have carried this secrets since the very beginning and I have only eight things to say." He said before, grabbing Zeus by his throat and literally choking the near immortal life outta of him as his black hair nearly ignited in a deep rosey red fire.
"You Cocky Fucking Jealous Son of a Bitch!" Hades growled menacingly as he topple on Zeus helding him to the ground.
"You mean to tell me that Everything we have gone through, all the crap you put everyone through with your terrible Decision making, tragical unforseenable and judgements, most of our demigod children killed or suffer a terrible fate and being trapped along here severed from the mortal realms beside the underworld could have all been avoided if you haven't killed our youngest sibling because you were jealous that you weren't the last born." Hades nearly spate hellflames as the very air cold into negative degrees while Persephone let him take his long held anger out because even her distant mother would agree that was lower then a diseased rat to do such a thing.
Meanwhile Shazam was having the most painfully split migraine, chewing on caramel popcorn as he was writing down some notes on what he was listening on from the Gods and Goddess. To later tell the other heroes about then.

Jazz, for some reason or the other, becomes a wielder of a red lantern ring. After going on her rampage and getting her revenge, she realizes that the feeling of rage won't go away. Instead of letting the anger destroy her, she decided to do something else with it.
That's how we end up with a stand-off between Hal Jordan and the most powerful Red Lantern he's ever seen. Because...
"What... what did you just say?"
The young woman smiled gently at him. He would've been fooled by it if not for the burning rage carefully hidden... No, she wasn't hiding anything behind those turquoise eyes. It was taking everything she had to hold it back.
"I said that I would like to join The Justice League." Her voice was soft and velvety. Comforting in a way that sends chills up his spine.
"But you're a Red Lantern."
There was a beat of silence, she cocked her head to the side while looking at the blood-red ring on her finger.
"I don't know what that means, but I'm guessing it's got something to do with this ring?"
Hal didn't respond but she took it as confirmation. There was silence between them once more before Jasmine sighed and continued.
"I feel angry, more than angry. This rage that I've been holding inside for so long has reached its limits and is finally bubbling over. Everything that I loved is gone so killed what took it away from me. But... but I'm still SO FUCKING ANGRY!"
She was screaming now. Tears of rage and sadness rolled down her cheeks as violent red energy radiated from her being. Hal flew back. He didn't want to fight her but was ready to do so if it came to it.
Just as easily as she lost it she pulled herself together, wiping her tears away, returning to her previously calm demeanor. It freaked Hal out.
"I... I know that blind rage without direction leads to meaningless destruction. I don't want to hurt anybody. No... I don't want to hurt the wrong people. I'm asking you to guide me, to guide my rage in the right direction... Please."

In my Zeus bag today so I'm just gonna put it out there that exactly none of the great Ancient Greek warrior-heroes stayed loyal and faithful and completely monogamous and yet none of them have their greatness questioned nor do we question why they had the cultural prominence that they did and still do.
Jason, the brilliant leader of the Argo, got cold feet when it came to Medea - already put off by some of her magic and then exiled from his birthland because of her political ploys, he took Creusa to bed and fully intended on marrying her despite not properly dissolving things with Medea.
Theseus was a fierce warrior and an incredibly talented king but he had a horrible temper and was almost fatally weak to women. This is the man who got imprisoned in the Underworld for trying to get a friend laid, the man who started the whole Attic War because he couldn't keep his legs closed.
And we cannot at all forget Heracles for whom a not inconsiderable amount of his joy in life was loving people then losing the people around him that he loved. Wives, children, serving boys, mentors, Heracles had a list of lovers - male and female - long enough to rival some gods and even after completing his labours and coming down to the end of his life, he did not have one wife but three.
And y'know what, just because he's a cultural darling, I'll put Achilles up here too because that man was a Theseus type where he was fantastic at the thing he was born to do (that is, fight whereas Theseus' was to rule) but that was not enough to eclipse his horrid temper and his weakness to young pretty things. This is the man that killed two of Apollo's sons because they wouldn't let him hit - Tenes because he refused to let Achilles have his sister and Troilus who refused Achilles so vehemently that he ran into Apollo's temple to avoid him and still couldn't escape.
All four of these men are still celebrated as great heroes and men. All four of these men are given the dignity of nuance, of having their flaws treated as just that, flaws which enrich their character and can be used to discuss the wider cultural point of what truly makes a hero heroic. All four of these men still have their legacies respected.
Why can that same mindset not be applied to Zeus? Zeus, who was a warrior-king raised in seclusion apart from his family. Zeus who must have learned to embrace the violence of thunder for every time he cried as a babe, the Corybantes would bang their shields to hide the sound. Zeus learned to be great because being good would not see the universe's affairs in its order.
The wonderful thing about sympathy is that we never run out of it. There's no rule stopping us from being sympathetic to multiple plights at once, there's no law that necessitate things always exist on the good-evil binary. Yes, Zeus sentenced Prometheus to sufferation in Tartarus for what (to us) seems like a cruel reason. Prometheus only wanted to help humans! But when you think about Prometheus' actions from a king's perspective, the narrative is completely different: Prometheus stole divine knowledge and gifted it to humans after Zeus explicitly told him not to. And this was after Prometheus cheated all the gods out of a huge portion of wealth by having humans keep the best part of a sacrifice's meat while the gods must delight themselves with bones, fat and skin. Yes, Zeus gave Persephone away to Hades without consulting Demeter but what king consults a woman who is not his wife about the arrangement of his daughter's marriage to another king? Yes, Zeus breaks the marriage vows he set with Hera despite his love of her but what is the Master of Fate if not its staunchest slave?
The nuance is there. Even in his most bizarre actions, the nuance and logic and reason is there. The Ancient Greeks weren't a daft people, they worshipped Zeus as their primary god for a reason and they did not associate him with half the vices modern audiences take issue with. Zeus was a father, a visitor, a protector, a fair judge of character, a guide for the lost, the arbiter of revenge for those that had been wronged, a pillar of strength for those who needed it and a shield to protect those who made their home among the biting snakes. His children were reflections of him, extensions of his will who acted both as his mercy and as his retribution, his brothers and sisters deferred to him because he was wise as well as powerful. Zeus didn't become king by accident and it is a damn shame he does not get more respect.
#ginger rambles#ginger chats about greek myths#greek mythology#It's Zeus Apologist day actually#For the record Jason is my personal favourite of these guys#The argonauts are extremely underrated for literally no reason#And Jason's wit and sheer ability to adapt along with his piousness are traits that are so far away from what usually gets highlighted#with the typical Greek warrior-hero that I've just never stopped being captivated by him#Conversely I still do not understand what people see in Achilles#I respect him and his legacy I respect the importance of his tale and his cultural importance I promise I do#However I personally can't stand the guy LMAO#How do you get warned twice TWICE both by your mother and by Athena herself that going after Apollo's children is a bad idea#And still have the audacity to be mad and surprised when Apollo is gunning for Specifically You during the war you're bringing to His City#That You Specifically and Exclusively had a choice in avoiding#ACHILLES COULD'VE JUST SAID NO#I know that's not the point however so many other members of the Greek camp were simply casualties of Fate in every conceivable way man#Achilles looked at every terrible choice he could possibly make said “Well I'm gonna die anyway 🤷🏽” and proceeded to make the choice#so hard that he angered god#That's y'all's man right there#I left out Perseus because truthfully I don't actually know much about him#I haven't studied him even a fraction as much as I've studied some of the other big culture heroes and none of this is cited so i don't wan#to talk about stuff I don't know 100%#Anyway justice for Zeus fr#Gimme something give me literally anything other than the nonsense we usually get for him#This goes for Hera too btw#Both the king and queen of the skies are done TERRIBLY by wider greek myth audiences and it's genuinely disheartening to see#If y'all could make excuses for Achilles to forgive his flaws y'all can do it for them#They have a lot more to sympathise with I'll tell you that#(that is a completely biased statement; you are completely free and encouraged to enjoy whichever figures spark joy)#zeus

I really love Gi-hun as a reminder to In-ho about what/who he could have had. It’s like a black hole eying a star. A scene that really stuck out to me was the one where he’s awake and listening to Gi-hun and Jung-bae talk lowkey looking mad as hell.
Like are In-ho and Gi-hun both trapped? Yes. But the fact that Gi-hun can talk with his friend about leaving there with the money, and that he can come to resemble his old self with just a short interaction, shows a sort of potential that In-ho no longer possesses. Even when he tries, albeit briefly, to get Jun-ho to stay, all he can do is draw things in. He won’t move/alter himself. There’s no getting out with the money for him.
And so, he sees to it that the last vestiges of hope for Gi-hun pulling himself out of this are dashed, too. He drags him in further, as black holes do.

Lt. Simon "Ghost" Riley. The man who doesn’t tolerate mistakes or missteps, and you’ll never hear him coming. He’s got a reputation for being terrifying and lacking empathy, always working alone. But before all that, before the legend, Simon was just a soldier. A damn good one, who had some damn bad things happen to him.
Captain John Price had been keeping an eye on him. He knows Simon’s story better than anyone else in the military and recruited him into his Task Force. Now, Ghost isn’t just a skull without a conscience. He has a Task Force, and he’s started to trust a team again.
And they trust him.

Thinking about cc!Donnie getting sick and hiding it from his brothers till he like collapses and the freak out from the others that would follow
honestly post-epilogue i might write a oneshot with a premise like this just because i think there's a painful combination i could play with considering his chest iss ffffucked and if he caught something he could actually be super immunocompromised ,, like he NEEDS to be open about things like this for a ton of reasons but he just wont be out of fear of burdening them. after a while it becomes less about facing their wrath (although if he's seriously out of his mind, he'll forget where he is so it does resurface) and more about seeing the grief and panic enter their eyes when he's hurt or upset
he'll always beat himself up when he cant hide it anymore, because they are so much more hurt when they learn he's been intentionally keeping it from them, but it never seems to stop the problem. it just makes donnie more upset in the moment.

One headcanon that I will take to my grave of the three children of Zeus that chose immortality (Herakles, Thalia and Dionysus)
Is that none of them truly wanted immortality they just didn't want to die
Thalia with being next in line of the prophecy would of either killed her or killed everyone else so she had to choose the hunters and give it to Percy
Dionysus with being a son of Zeus AND a part of Cadmus's (and Harmonia's) family line made him doomed from the start so he had to become a god
Herakles with being a son of Zeus and the whole poison shirt thing had his choices of dying painfully and slowly (?) or becoming a god, so he had to become a god
Hell 2 of those likely didn't get a choice

I just love it when Luke and Nic reacts to the show. They are so invested it’s like they’ve never seen it and they’re not the actors playing in it 😂
But also this clip of their reaction has me laughing when they mentioned they had to reshoot the scene

And thank god they did. Otherwise the fandom wouldn’t only be on fire right now. There would be a freakin riot and a takedown of Netflix headquarters

sam as a character that breaks the 'us vs them' dichotomy of hunting with the conditions of his monstrosity is not only something that is deeply inherent to the narrative's exploration of the familial dynamics that sam disrupts, both metaphorically (in terms of hunting as a metaphor for the cycle of abuse) and literally but it's also something that is deeply internalised by every character that bears witness to the same conditions of sam's monstrosity that the audience does but most importantly both dean and sam himself.
there are a lot of aspects to the way that dean approaches sam's involvement within his own agency/independence as well as The Family Business that mirror or directly correlate with sam's monstrosity and when it's worth condemnation vs not but by far the most interesting aspect of this to me is the fact that there is an inherent separation between the idea of sam, sammy, that is not monstrous but is capable of becoming so and the sam that is unknowably monstrous and is capable of corrupting/encroaching on/preying on the sammy isn't/is not yet monstrous. like this idea is mostly explored within dean's idea of sam and monstrosity, either separately or together, but there are a few moments within which sam demonstrates a subconscious awareness of this separation, and subjects himself to it as well, and most of them are within 4.21 and explored as the fact that the Sam—corrupted and monstrous—that Sammy—othered regardless—is to be protected from is ultimately someone that sammy cannot escape. it is in him and evil ('them') and giving into it means freedom or an entire 'acceptance' (the usage of his monstrosity—"maybe there's no escape. after all, how can you run from what's inside you?" / "don't let anyone or anything get in your way."—something he's explicitly expressed since 4.04) of himself.
there will always be an 'us vs them'. it is vital to supernatural. and regardless of the fact that sam exists to break the dichotomy, the dynamic of the structure is one that demands you fit into it and ultimately, i think this manifests within the ideas of sam's monstrosity, more than it does around it, while he perpetually struggles to fit into his role under 'us' so much so that his struggle becomes a vital part of his role. it becomes a non-role that's present in examples of the dynamics of his and dean's relationship as well as the patriarchal structure that i've talked about previously
