The thing is, she's 100% accurate. Cordelia became Angel's first true friend. In BTVS, he was Buffy's boyfriend. He hung around with the crew. But he didn't have a friend (and we know he wasn't exactly social before then)... None of them were hanging out with him on a consistent basis besides Buffy. And they certainly weren't hugging him with his vamp face on.

In LA, he has Doyle..but for a very short time. It wasn't long enough to build. Cordelia is the first person that he builds a friendship with.

And now that I'm writing this, I realize: Cordelia probably had a similar experience didn't she? She hung with the Scoobies because she was with Xander, much like Angel was with Buffy. And these two just didn't get to have that type of friendship on BTVS, but they did with each other, which soon grows to love.

I wish that Tumblr had less of Cangel and more of Bangel and Xandelia. Angel had to become like Xander in order to match Cordelia while Cordelia had to become a dumb version of Buffy to be compatible with Xander-like Angel. Cordelia was her smarter self with Xander and had better chemistry with him. While Cordy was in a coma, Angel went to Sunnydale to kiss Buffy and spent most of the other part of that coma fighting with Spike over Buffy. To put the cherry on top, Buffy never kissed Angel's son while having amnesia and let her body be in a love triangle between father and son.

any coffy fic recs?

I’m very weird about them, I LOVE the ship and think that it was canon in the sense that they had a weird thing for each other, but don’t think it should’ve been canon in the sense of them getting together, if that makes sense. BUT that doesn’t mean I don’t love reading about hypotheticals! so yeah, any coffy fic recs would be gladly appreciated. preferably set in the canon universe (which includes the birthdayverse or wishverse) but if it’s a really really good AU then I’ll still give it a shot :)
