I'm dying to see you write Alastor opening up to Reader about his mom, maybe a little angst and lots of fluff? (- v -)''
WE NEED THAT MOMMAS BOY GETTING SOME COMFORT!
Finally Anon, I found the strengh to write this. Sorry it took so long - I hope it was worth the wait! Next story will be less sad, I promise! :'< But I think we can all find some love for our Mommas Boy today, right? (Prepare your handkerchiefs, fellas...)
❤️🦌❤️🦌❤️🦌❤️🦌❤️🦌❤️🦌❤️🦌❤️🦌❤️🦌❤️🦌❤️
Mother O'Mine
Not the kitchen. Not the lobby. Not the bar. Not the radio tower. Not his room.
You sighed and stilled for a moment, thinking of a place where he could've gone.
If Angel had just shut his damn mouth. Mother's day was a shit day for everyone in the hotel. You, who never knew a mother, raising yourself in the farce that had been the foster care system, rued the day. Charlie was still in denial about her mothers blatant absence and ignorance, Husk melancholic and tense at the memory of seeing his mother being exterminated shortly after reuniting with her in hell, and Vaggie bitterly wanted to ignore the holiday all together, feeling as though she would be betraying the mother she could no longer reach in heaven as a fallen angel.
Angel had been pissing them all off by breakfast, obnoxiously mocking their various reasons of why this day felt even heavier than others in hell. You knew it was his own way of coping with his mommy issues - something he didn't even talk about with Husk, as far as you knew, but he bordered on being not only menacing, but outright cruel.
Alastor had listened to his rambling stoically, flipping eggs while drinking his coffee with not much more than an annoyed twitch in his brow, but then the spider made the gruesome mistake to mention her.
Alastor's mom.
"What, 'ya think any of 'ya mothers could even look at 'ya without punchin' themselves? Come on, look me in the eyes and tell me Bambi's mommy wouldn't be fuckin' disappointed by what her little fawn has become... Can ya really see a sweet southern lady all happy, lovin', and coddling ol' murder-clown Alas..."
The green explosion came faster than you could blink. You were frozen in place, only staring in fear and worry when Angel landed unceremoniously into the table with the rest of the breakfast, the other residents as shocked and dazed as you were, while the radio static and greenish-black shadows seeped away from Alastor who then swiftly made his way out without a word, holding his staff while his tendrils bristled dangerously.
Alastor had vanished and the only thought coming to your mind - after giving a cursing, groaning Angel a righteous 'You fucking deserved that'-speech - was that you needed to find him before the princess did to make sure the demon had calmed enough not to finally lose it and maul her to pieces. Charlie meant well, but she didn't know. No one did know, except for you, and even you only knew so much.
It's not like it had been an elaborate talk. It just happened, after a nightmare that made him tear up in a mixture of rage and sorrow, a bad memory that had made his shadow basically drag you, half asleep still, from your bed to his in the middle of the night. Why you? You weren't so sure. Alastor usually preferred your company more than the others just because you were the most neutral, sane person in the hotel. Some would even say impassive. An introvert who didn't draw attention, silent and observing. But not once had his shadow ever acted up around you, and while it wasn't overly friendly with anyone, it seemed to watch mostly you with curious glances and interested hisses. When you had finally woken up enough to comprehend your situation, you were sprawled across Alastors stomach with his arms wound so tightly around you you struggled to breathe, strained mumbled words pressed through gritted teeth into your nightgown.
"Mother... I'm sorry... Oh mother..."
He had been sobbing into your shoulders and and shaking against your chest while he let go of a strange anger and grief he never seemed to get rid of while you had, confused but worried, whispered words of comfort in a hushed, soothing voice until you both dozed back to sleep. Morning broke, and when you opened your eyes again, he was sitting on the edge of his bed, not able to look you in the eyes. He had thanked you, gruffly and with an unsteady voice that made your heart ache, before offering his hand to teleport you back to your room. As far as you were concerned, the weirdest of it was that you felt him caress the palm of your hand with his thumb, barely audible as he mumbled that "that should have never have happened, and we shall never speak of it again." - he was usually a gentleman, and he never touched you this intimately before - but, to him, it was obviously a humiliating and horrible thing that you had witnessed him like that.
And you didn't speak of it. No one knew, and you intended to keep it that way. It was a moment you shared and fragile trust was on the table. You would take it to your second grave, along with all those feelings that had come with it, to prevent it from breaking.
Back to the present, you sighed and massaged the bridge of your nose. You had checked all the obvious places that crossed your mind, so maybe, you should start to look at the not-so-obvious ones... Maybe some place you knew was connected to... His mom...
A sudden pang hit you as you got an idea of where he might be hiding.
Tumblr media
"Is this seat taken?"
The roof of the hotel was usually restricted from access, due to the general instability and collapse-prone architecture it presented, but you and (after an admittedly awkward encounter on a hot day that had involved you in a two-pieced swimsuit sunbathing and a very flustered Alastor with a book in one and a severed hand on a plate in the other hand) the radio demon knew about a small nook between the roof's overhead window frames and the hotel's ventilation system, hidden by the growing shadow of the radio tower where no one else ever came looking. A hideout, a place to go when you wanted undisturbed solitude. You had quickly left the place, apologizing for intruding a space that Alastor had apparently already claimed for himself (explaining the existence of the lounge chair you've so rudely used), but soon enough he discreetly invited you back, second chair added, to sit in silence together every once in a while, as long as you swore secrecy. It became a place of comfort for both of you, a retreat when life in the hotel got too stressful.
Alastor's reaction to seeing you was a quickly stifled hum before going back to staring stubbornly at the horizon. He looked dejected, and if you would not have known him so well, you wouldn't have noticed the trembling twitch of his ears nor the way his claw tapped impatiently against his knee, his shadow balled in on itself while hovering at the edge of the small roof.
It looked like he was staring straight through the distant buildings of the pentagram to the faintly illuminated orb that was heaven next to hells own sun, while also refusing to acknowledge you or the world around him at all. His smile had slipped into an emotionless line of pursed lips.
"That depends" he mused quietly. "Are you here to make me return to that insolent arachnid and attempt a 'healing' conversation?"
"I think you know I know that I couldn't even if i wanted to." You tried a weak smile.
Alastor briefly met your eyes at that, giving away that, despite his aloof act, your comment got his attention and he considered it before turning back to the horizon, the tense posture relaxing somewhat. A brief silence passed until he hummed an affirmative noise. "Then you may sit, darling."
After sitting down, minutes passed without a word said. The distant roar of the bustling traffic carried the muffled sounds of hell with the usual maelstrom of catcalling, profanities and general noises of mayhem to you, while you fought to keep a certain twitch in your hands as you counted the beats of his heels clicking on the tiles.
"You must know... my mother was a rare light in a world of filth." he declared suddenly into the silence. "An honest, virtuous soul of beauty and strength." He said it slowly and, surprisingly, completely unamused, the clacking of his shoes ceasing at once. He stared at the city in contempt, hands clasped together and resting on his legs to hold back a tremble that you caught anyway.
"She, unlike me, had not a spec of corruption in her bones. Wherever she found the warmth and love she shared with me, I cannot fathom. But she did. I may have been mocked and shunned by the world, the bastard child of a black woman and a white man, but I always had her as my home to return to.” The knuckles on his hands turned white. “But the cruelty of life and the disgusting human that was my father, the unbearable excuse of a man, killed her before I was grown enough to help. Before I was old enough to kill that monster myself." He spat the words, claws digging deeper until a faint trickle of blood could be seen. "I remedied that circumstance, twice to be exact, although it couldn't make up for what was lost. Nothing I did to him could make up for it..." his smile widened bitterly as his face twitched, recalling a fond, yet regretful memory. "… and believe me, I tried. But it was cathartic nonetheless, and quite educational... for my further career."
You stayed quiet and studied his profile, patiently waiting for him to continue talking. It was painfully obvious how hard it was for him to speak about actual feelings, with his tense grin and his white knuckles dripping with crimson blood.
"I knew, of course, where I would end up after my demise, and that I would never be able to see her again. Because I was sure she'd end up in heaven, like the saint she was. Is." He cleared his throat, attempting to appear dismissive, but you saw it. The sadness, the longing, the resignation, and it shattered your heart.
"Alastor...", you knew he hated physical touch, but your hand reached out on its own, to stop his hands from ripping themselves apart. He stiffened at the contact, but said nothing.
"Don't tell me you took what Angel said to heart..."
"How could my mother love me after what I've become after her death?"
His tone was monotonous, but his hands trembled under your fingers. He refused to look at you, but you saw his eyes, glazed with wetness that threatened to turn into actual tears. How he could still smile was beyond you, you had your theories on that, but that wasn't important right now. What mattered was that he was hurting, and that fact broke your heart. You never knew motherly love, how could you really miss something you never really knew? But Alastor did, and it had been ripped from him in the must cruel way, the impact of it so hard it made him even question the very foundation it was built upon.
You moved your hand from his to cup his cheek and turn his face to yours. His expression was blank, and if it weren't for the tight grin and the eyes filled with an unspeakable anguish, it would have been an emotionless stare.
"Alastor, do you know the poem Mother O'Mine?"
"I'm afraid the memory of it fails me, darling."
"Then, I'll recite it for you."
"Why?"
You gave him a sad smile.
"Because I want to."
He eyed you with stunned curiosity as you reached into your pocket, glad for once for your mostly useless power. You've only told Husk about it, in one of your late nights where everyone else was asleep aside him and your insomnia got the better of you, drunk and as a bargaining chip for one last gin tonic.
The blank piece of paper was a bit crumpled, but it would do. You started to fold it while you spoke, your voice sounded soft and almost like a spell.
"If I were hanged on the highest hill, Mother o' mine, O mother o' mine! I know whose love would follow me still, Mother o' mine, O mother o' mine!"
Your fingers moved with a solemn purpose as you folded the paper this way and that, a skill you perfected out of boredom over the years, the edges turning into an elegant shape, the poem coming from your mouth like a song. Alastor watched your hands move in a trance, not sure what you were doing, but too focused on the faint glow of purple around them to ask.
"If I were drowned in the deepest sea, Mother o' mine, O mother o' mine! I know whose tears would come down to me, Mother o' mine, O mother o' mine!"
There in your hand, sat a little origami bird. It wasn't anything special, maybe a traditional crane would have been better, more elegant, but you were out of practice and for what you intended to do it would work either way. Carefully you reached out, silently demanding for one of Alastor's hands that were still digging into each other. He didn't protest, and slowly raised it to give his hand to you. The tips of his claws were covered in a thin, fresh layer of his own blood, and his skin was warm and slightly clammy. You put the little paper bird on his palm, a speck of his blood staining the bottom of the pristine white paper, and closed his fingers around it, holding it in both of yours.
"If I were damned of body and soul, I know whose prayers would make me whole, Mother o' mine, O mother o' mine."
His enclosed hand in your own was encased in purple light, with wide eyes he followed the soft tugs of your fingers and opened his hand. The little paper bird flapped it's wings on his flat palm, looking at him for a heartbeat before taking off and flew in a singular circle around his head before it headed into hells deep red sky, towards the bright heavenly sphere. You watched it until it vanished completely from view, hoping there was a possibility that maybe, with a bit of luck, it would find it's way to her.
"This, Alastor, is what a real mother is. She loves you, I'm sure of it. Always has and always will."
Tears fell silently on his lap, a strangled, coarse breath escaping him. Without warning, he pulled you from your chair into him, holding you pressed close to him. Just like in the night of his nightmare, his face was buried in your chest, arms wound tightly around you in a hurting embrace and shoulders trembling with suppressed grief. His grip was bordering on painful, but you wrapped your arms around his neck, burying one of your hands in his hair, stroking gently while you let him quietly cry into your shoulder, not caring that the wetness of his tears was soaking through the fabric of your shirt. You felt his heart beating rapidly, his pulse erratic and his breathing fast.
"I miss her. Oh, how I miss her."
You held him tighter.
"I know, Al... I know."
You didn't know how long you two stayed like this, him in your arms and crying silently while you tried your best to comfort him, but you didn't care. As far as you were concerned, you would stay here forever if it only meant to lift this weight for a little while from his shoulders.
It took him some time, but eventually his breathing evened out, and he calmed down, his hold becoming less desperate and more... affectionate. You didn't realize it at first, but he had moved, his head resting under your chin and his forehead leaning against the hollow of your throat, his antlers slightly poking the thin skin. It felt strangely intimate, and you wondered if he was aware of what he was doing, but the moment he moved to get up and leave, you knew the spell was broken. He didn't let go of you entirely, but instead helped you to stand up and held your hand, his gaze firmly planted to the ground, avoiding your eyes.
"Darling, I..."
"Don't worry, Alastor. Although I'm glad I was able to be here when it happened... we shall never speak of this again."
You could feel his hesitation, a strange nervousness radiating from him. His shadow hovered next to him, a hand reaching out towards your face. You smiled at it, and, just for a brief moment, allowed yourself to lean into it's warm, buzzing touch as it caressed your cheek, before you turned and made your way back inside without a glance back to the sudden sound of a longing hum.

The first time Husk and Angel really hug, it's Angel who pulls him in, but kind of slowly so Husk has time to panic.
Oh, he hasn’t hugged anyone in forever. Angel is so tall and lanky. Angel has four arms. Four! He has wings. How will they ever fit together in a way that isn’t terribly awkward?
And then he thinks so much, that he kind of fumbles the last few centimeters and he lands against Angel's chest with a small thud. He ruined it, he thinks for a split second, before Angels giggles a little and wraps a set of arms around his shoulder and one around his waist.
And it really isn’t bad at all. He slots one arm under Angel’s top pair, in between his shoulders and one under his bottom pair, around his stupidly tiny waist. Like that it really feels like he is holding all of Angel. Angel is so warm and soft and Husk can hear his heart beating so fast that it almost worries him, if he didn’t know his own was beating like that, too.
The first time Husk and Angel really hug, it's kind of perfect, actually.

@val-the-bun hits me with a padded sledge hammer in the feels with the wereharpy vaggie au thanks for that once again i inflict this ask on others as a coping mechanism >:C
val-the-bun asked:
Charlie can see the claw marks on Vaggie's side, golden blood, *angel* blood, dripping onto the floor... Her grip on the spear is shaking.
'Did you ever believe in me, Vaggie?'
Another shriek, weak and *crackling* is her only answer. Vaggie's talons fall, and she almost *leans* into the point of the spear. She can see the tears streaming down Vaggie's face.
The spear slips out of charlie's fingers. Her hands are shaking too much. She grabs Vaggie by the feathers, glaring up at her.
'Do you?'
Vaggie is *shaking*, taloned hands curling around Charlie with a *whimper*.
Charlie is clinging to Vaggie as the monster *buckles* around her. She lets out another whimper, nuzzling against her face. She cant keep her tail from curling around Vaggie, burying her face in those feathers she knows so well.
'Oh Vaggie...'
I am picturing a lot of comfort after this
Like just
Vaggie all bandaged up
And just curled up with Charlie in the lobby. And she's just gently brushing Vaggie's feathers.
'So uh, does anybody wanna explain why Vaggie Tales is doin' a heavenly werebird in hell?'
'I... I dont know. Maybe this is just... Maybe this is what happens if an exorcist stays down here?'
Eventually Vaggie starts changing back. Which, ya know, yay!
Aaaand also oh shit. Because uh. *She kind of shredded her outfit in her transformation*. And her spare one is back in what's left of the room she was holed up in.
'Oh, fuck. Uh. Blanket? Quick? PLEASE???'
Queue a very embarrassed and kind of ashamed Vaggie curled up in a *huge* blanket. But...Charlie's holding her. Vaggie may not think she deserves it, but she is.
'Please tell me I didnt try to eat anybody...'
'Oh, no my dear. Shreading on the other hand!'
Charlie gives Alastor a glare that surprisingly shuts him up. Meanwhile Vaggie has basically disappeared into the blanket, save the barest hint of white hair.
'Dont worry about it Vags, your aim was pretty shit.'
Queue a jab in the side from Husk.
'What! It's true! She missed!'
(Aaand that's all i got for this for now. Might do more in the future. Might write a fic. Who knows!)

Memories with Mom
Charlie was never the most open about talking about her mother. She has not spoken to her in seven years, but she missed her more than anyone in the hotel knew. Every night, before Vaggie comes into their room, Charlie would grab a picture of herself with Lilith and Lucifer from her bedside drawer and cry at it. She has been doing this since her mother abandoned her, and kept it to herself until Vaggie came into their room and saw her crying and staring at the picture.
“Charlie? We’ve decided to do that movie night that you suggested so we need you to help us pick out… are you okay, honey?”
Charlie sat up from her bed and hid the picture back in her drawer. Vaggie walked to the bed and sat next to her girlfriend. She looked at her face and noticed how red and puffy it was, with tears streaming down her face.
“You can talk to me if you’re feeling upset. You know you can talk to me about anything.”
Charlie opened her drawer and took the picture out to show Vaggie. She looked at the picture to see Charlie when she was a toddler in the duck onesie that Lucifer bought for her, smiling, with her parents behind her and holding her.
“Do you miss your mom?”
“Yes; I’ve been looking at this picture every day for the last several years, and I miss her. I haven’t told anyone about this because… I didn’t think anyone would understand.”
Charlie leaned on Vaggie’s shoulder before she hugged her as tightly as she could. “Char, we all understand what it’s like to lose a family member, let alone our mom. I remember when I first fell to Hell, on the day you found me, one of the first things I thought about was if I was ever going to see my mom again. I already haven’t seen her super often since I died, but the day I fell was when I realized I may never see her again. Plus, you already know that the closest thing to a mom I had since being in Hell was Carmilla.”
Charlie smiled and hugged Vaggie. She still cried, but she felt a lot better about sharing how much she missed Lilith with her.
“Do you feel like you can talk about it now?”
“Yes, baby. I feel more comfortable talking about it.”
Before she could say anything, Lucifer walked into the girls’ room to see his daughter crying and Vaggie holding her. He sat next to Charlie to see what has been taking them so long to come back downstairs.
“Hi, Char; is there something wrong? We’ve been waiting for you for quite a while now. Are you okay?”
Charlie and Vaggie let go of each other. “Dad, I have a question; do you miss mom?”
Lucifer hesitated before answering the question. “I miss you mother every day. Ever since the divorce, I couldn’t stop thinking about her. I couldn’t stop thinking about you either when she took you away from me.”
Charlie wiped a tear from her face and showed her father the picture that she showed Vaggie. Lucifer smiled at the picture to see himself with his ex-wife and daughter together and smiling their big smiles in that picture.
“That was always your favorite picture of all three of us. I remember you had that picture hanging next to your bed, right at eye-shot. You would smile at that picture before falling asleep every night.”
Charlie giggled and hugged Lucifer before they noticed Alastor, Angel Dust, Husk, Niffty, and Cherri Bomb coming into the room. They all sat down around Charlie on the bed and looked at her.
“Charlie? We’ve been looking through movie options and we need you to help us pick on for movie night,” Alastor explained once he sat down.
“Sorry, everyone; I was just looking at this picture of my parents and me and was thinking about how much I miss my mom. I’ve been thinking about it since she stopped talking to me,” Charlie explained, crying again.
“And you’ve been feeling this way this entire time?” Angel asked.
“Yes, I have.”
“Well, why didn’t you tell anyone?” Husk asked.
“Because… I didn’t think any of you would understand.”
“Why would you think we wouldn’t understand? We all miss our mums,” Cherri Bomb said.
Charlie wiped a tear from her face. “Because I didn’t think any of you would have been straight up abandoned by your moms. They probably either showed up when you died or you showed up for them when they died.”
“Charlie, just because we were never abandoned by our moms doesn’t mean we don’t miss them. We still think of so many positive memories that we had for them when we were all still alive, and we still cry when thinking about them,” Niffty explained.
“Exactly! You remember I would tell all of you so many stories about my mom, and how she was the one that taught me her Jambalaya recipe,” Alastor explained.
“The one you would make for us all the time?” Charlie asked.
“That’s right; that’s the one. The day she taught me that recipe was one of my favorite memories with her. That and also the time she taught me how to play the piano. We had this little, wooden upright piano in our living room that was always out of tune, and my mom would play on all the time when I was younger. One day, I asked her if she could teach me how to play, and she did. She has been at every one of my recitals while my father never showed up. She was my number one fan and supporter throughout my life and the day she died was the saddest moment of my life, including the date of my own death. I sat at her bedside on that day, and once she stopped responding, I was completely broken.”
Charlie leaned down and gave Alastor a hug. Alastor began to tense and static up until Charlie let go of him and backed away from him. She kept on forgetting that he did not like being touched until he began to static up, or until she was reminded.
“It’s funny ya bring up your mom teaching you a recipe, ‘cos that reminded me of when my mom taught me her lasagna recipe when I was a kid. She taught it to my sister, Molly, and me; we were the closest to her while our brother, Arackniss, was closer to our dad and everyone could tell, too. My mom was always so positive and funny compared to our dad, and we loved her jokes. Most of them are pretty dirty, though. Our dad told us all the time that our mom was the only person to ever manage to get him to smile and laugh. She was also the only person to get Arackniss to smile and laugh too, just like Molly and me. When we were all still alive, everyone would tell Molly and me that we got our sense of humor from our mom,” Angel explained.
“That sounds like the rest of the Deadly Sins. They would all tell me that I get my sense of humor from you, Dad,” Charlie said as she hugged Lucifer. She then reached over to Angel Dust when she saw him crying.
“You know, with all these cooking stories from your moms, that reminded me of when my mom and I used to cook breakfast together every Saturday morning when I was a kid. I would wake up early with my mom, all excited for a day off from school, and we would spend the hour making pancakes from scratch. On some weeks, mostly during the holidays, we would get into flour fights together, and we would get so wrapped up in it that we wouldn’t realize what we were doing until our dad came downstairs and noticed the mess. He would get so angry and make us clean it up afterwards. It was one of the only times I remember ever actually having fun, and I can never get myself to go back,” Niffty explained.
“I’m surprised there was once a Niffty that loved to make messes,” Vaggie replied.
“Well, there was, but when I got older, we started playing less and less, and my parents would just fill my brain with cleanliness all the time.”
“Husky, do you have any stories about your mom?” Angel asked.
“I do; we would go into downtown Vegas every summer, and there was a little area that would hold magic shows for the kids while their parents drank and gambled all night. But my mom would stay with me to see the shows together. That was when I got this pin,” Husk explained as he took a pin of a top hat, a magic wand, and several playing cards with the saying “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas” on it off his suspenders. He showed everyone the pin before putting it back on. “We would still go every summer when I got older. That was when I started gambling when I was old enough, and I used to love to dance with the celebrity impersonators whenever I would see them.”
The rest of the crew giggled as Husk blushed. “You used to dance with the celebrity impersonators when you were older?” Angel asked, still giggling.
“I was drunk whenever I would dance with them, so I don’t really remember most of it. What I do remember was how heartbroken I was when she died. I was right at her bedside at that time, and once she stopped responding, I would not stop crying for a week straight, and would start binge drinking. It was one of the saddest moments of my life.”
Angel Dust reached over to Husk to give him a hug. Charlie reached over to do the same thing. Husk smiled and grabbed Angel’s and Charlie’s arms to tighten their hug. Everyone’s stories with their moms were lifting Charlie up more and more.
“Everyone’s mum stories are so sweet. Alastor’s story of his mum teaching him to play the piano reminded me of my mum giving me my first electric guitar for Christmas when I was a kid. She was also the one to teach me how to play. She used to be part of a cover band not that long before I was born, and would also play a bunch of songs for me when I was younger. She later taught me how to play and when I got older, I would start playing and singing covers of my favorite songs onstage, just like her. My mum was also my number one supporter and she would come to all my shows too. I miss her so much,” Cherri Bomb explained.
Everyone moved closer to each other and wrapped their arms around each other in a group hug. They moved in closer and held on to each other tighter before laughing together. Charlie was beginning to realize that she was not the only one in the hotel that missed their mom, but there was one person she wanted to hear a story from the most.
“Hey, Vaggie, do you have any stories about your mom from when you were still alive? I know you said earlier that you miss her a lot.”
“I do, and I do have one story from when I was younger that resonated with me more than any other moment I had with my mom. I was often beaten up a lot when I was in school, and I would come home with a bloody nose and a black eye at least once every year. My mom was the only one that I was safe to open up to about my immense bullying in school. That was when she would teach me self-defense. That was how I was able to exterminate every year, as much as I hated it. When my mom taught me self-defense, I became more confident in standing up for myself and everyone started to become scared of me, but in a good way, kind of. I was still alone all throughout school, and I never had much luck with romantic relationships until I met you, Charlie, but I remember when I came out as a lesbian, my mom was the first one to support me and lift me up.”
Charlie smiled and hugged her girlfriend as tightly as she could. Vaggie hugged her back and shed a tear, which landed on Charlie’s shoulder. She got up from her girlfriend’s shoulder and wrapped her arm around it as Charlie did the same thing with her, and they held each other as tightly as they could.
“What about you, Charlie? You started the conversation, so what are your best memories with your mom?” Vaggie asked.
Charlie thought for a bit before answering. She had so many that she did not know where to start. “Well, Alastor’s story of his mom teaching him how to play the piano reminded me of when my mom taught me how to play the piano, too. Although we had a massive grand piano in our old place. I  remember hearing her play all the time as a kid, too, and I also wanted her to teach me. When I got older, Dad would always break out the fiddle and we would put on concerts together for all of Hell.”
“That sounds like something we can all do together. A concert can not only bring more traction to the hotel, but it can also be a great bonding experience,” Vaggie added.
“I should put that on my list of events we should hold.”
Lucifer wrapped his arm around his daughter and Charlie wrapped hers around him. “Speaking of music, that made me think of when you and I used to sing the ‘Five Little Ducks’ song and play with my rubber ducky collection together when you were little. Lilith would help us with the quacks sometimes.”
Charlie and Lucifer giggled before everyone else giggled with them. “I remember she only really joked around with us. I guess since everyone saw her as so powerful and dominant that she didn’t feel like she could be herself with anyone besides us. But when she was silly with us, it was the best moments I had with her.”
“Oh yes! She hardly ever showed that side of her in public, but when she was alone with me or with you, she was like a completely different person. I guess since she knew the real me from the beginning, she felt the most comfortable around me. She would also attempt to hide her laugh in public because she was so embarrassed by it.”
Charlie shed another tear before she continued. “I remember her laugh; it was so distinct that anyone could tell it was her when she couldn’t hide it. I would get pretty embarrassed whenever she couldn’t hold in her laugh in public when I was a teenager because it was so loud. I would look the other way in embarrassment if she did start laughing in public, but I was also trying to hold in my laughter at the same time. Her laugh was always enough to make anyone else laugh, especially Dad and me.”
“That sounds quite familiar, doesn’t it?” Alastor asked.
“It sounds familiar to me. It reminded me of that one time when Angel made that really dumb masturbation joke and it got to you because it came out of nowhere. You laughed so hard that you started snorting and crying, and even the water you were drinking almost came out of your nose. The rest of us started laughing too, but it wasn’t because of the joke. That was probably the hardest you laughed in front of the rest of the hotel in a long time,” Vaggie explained.
“And you would even attempt to hide it around us out of embarrassment sometimes. But it comes out one way or another, and it’s one of the cutest and funniest things ever,” Angel added while attempting to tickle Charlie underneath her armpit.
She giggled and hid her face again before moving Angel’s arm away from her. “Oh yeah, I guess I did get my laugh from my mom. For a while, I thought I only inherited her hair and her height,” said Charlie. She looked at the picture again before speaking again. “Although there’s so much I wish I could experience with her. I wish she could have met you, Vaggie, I know she would have loved you as much as Dad does. I wish she could see our first redemption with Sir Pentious. I wish she could have met the rest of you, too. She would have loved each and every one of you. I just hope she will come back, or at least talk to Dad and me again, before Vaggie and I decide it’s time for us to raise children of our own.”
“Well, you know how we all miss Sir Pentious? We’re still sad that he’s gone, but the positive memories of him can make us happy. That can be the same thing for your mum if you ever feel like crying about how much you miss her,” Cherri Bomb said.
“You’re right, Cherri; I’m happy we had this talk and you all shared your favorite stories about your moms. I feel like this picture doesn’t need to be hidden anymore,” Charlie replied as she pinned the picture above her bed next to the photo booth strips of her and Vaggie from a year prior.
“Now you can look at that memory with positivity again,” Lucifer pointed out.
“And it’s right next to your other favorite memory, and mine,” Vaggie added.
The crew surrounded Charlie in another group hug and laughed again. Charlie shed another tear and she and her friends held her as tightly as they could before letting go of each other again.
“Wait a minute, weren’t we supposed to have a movie night?” Husk asked.
“Yes we were! Let’s go downstairs and pick out a movie!” Charlie replied.
The crew got up from Charlie and Vaggie’s bed and started chatting and laughing with each other as they went downstairs together. One talk about everyone’s mothers got Charlie feeling energetic enough to go back downstairs to participate in the movie night they planned together again. While Charlie was still going to miss Lilith, she did not feel like she had to cry every time she was reminded of her anymore.

I feel like Angel Dust gives really good hugs. Like he’s tall, and tall people are so nice to hug because your head goes right into their chest/stomach (depending on your height), plus he has fur so he’s super soft and fluffy , PLUS he has six arms so he can fully encase you.
