Hi! I just wanted to let you know that I binged your Star Patient series in one go and I love how you write! I was so immersed I actually got so disappointed when I realized I hit the end of the uploaded chapters haha. I'm really loving Reader's character in terms of how she deals with the verrrrry questionable obstacles coming her way, girlie needs a break to just cuddle it out with Andrew or something. I didn't want a Mary Sue type of reader, or a reader who just seems like a replacement of Ashley (I'm getting real tired of seeing these rip-offs of Ashley, she has her own charm nobody can compete with).

I wanted a reader with her own psychological issues and problems, this series is for Andrew, who is from the psychological game genre! It only made sense having a unique character to go with him! I wanted to match the game's elements and have the reader just like it; battling with her morals and if what she's doing is right, just in a different type of context and setting.

Reader's obstacles and drama in her life is just crazy, but we embrace the crazy. It'll be boring just reading the same thing you've already seen inside of the TCOAAL game, so I wanted to flesh out my own plot and characters. Reader might not be everyone's cup of tea, but she's mine and I love her.

Honestly, I'm still trying to understand Andrew's personality because of how complex it is (I simp for this man so hard, we need more fics of him). Andrew is such a pain in the ass to write sometimes, but I really love him for it, so please bear with me if he seems out of character, because he is! He's my own version of Andrew I wrote for this story, so he's not going to be canon, just like how the timeline and characters aren't canon either.

She really does need to sit back and take a breather with Andrew, but her trust issues refuse to and we'll see why in later chapters~

I've been hinting the introduction of a new character, and chapter 6 will have plenty hints of that, so I'm really excited for their eventual release since it'll really spice up the story and characters. It's a yandere story, after all.

Slight spoiler for chapter 6 down below, if you didn’t already piece this out:

I don't know if anyone has pieced this out yet, but our reader is bipolar (hence part of the psychological aspects of her), and it's something we'll see more of in chapter 6 and onwards. I'm going to do my absolute best to not make her a stereotype of the typical bipolar stereotype (0-100 real fast, sudden mood shifts, etc). I don't want it to feel like anybody is being targeted or portrayed inaccurately, nor to do I want it to feel as the disorder is glamorized/romantized. I want reader to feel like a real person, just like how disorders (especially mental) are real too.

I'm definitely going to have to update my warnings because I'll be honest, the plot is being written as I write along and I don't want to trigger anyone or have unsuspecting readers read something they weren't expecting, so make sure to reread my warnings when chapter 6 is out!

I genuinely didn't believe many people would care much about this series, and I wrote it for fun, but it's such a wonderful surprise seeing people engage in my stories and ideas, you're apart of this journey just as much as I am.

Very strong denial about it but whatever.

Haru likes to speculate that it was destiny when Logan watched the train the builder was on pass the bridge. Like normally, he never cared too much, but he just watched this one time.

Logan denies it to this day.

But what he can’t deny is that after a certain incident that caused him to flee out of town in the early hours on Rambo- catching the gaze of the builder was far more startling than a certain explosion

Y’all may be like “but Siren- the builder’s been simping from the very start?” “Siren, what about the builder fawning over the WANTED posters?” “Siren, don’t forget about that certain bit of dialogue you can say”

That was all just attraction based in my books

Before the builder actually gets to know Logan.

So how may Logan be the one at the precipice of tipping you may ask?

Going off that notion “the eyes are the window to the soul.”

And whose eyes did he meet?

The builder’s.

Did he fall in love right there? No. But it left this raw feeling in him like he just knew he’d someday be exposed before their eyes and made human once more.

Fighting the builder gives Logan a sort of thrill. Like, it was a means of survival before, but now? It’s this rush and boost of adrenaline. It’s a certain kind of fun he hasn’t had in quite a while. And after their first battle? Under all the dire reasons for it to have occurred before? He wants to go again.

Skipping past the spoiler stuff-

And building off assumption bc we in early access folks

He takes a bit to reacquaint himself with Sandrock once more. While he could probably let go of the uneasiness he feels that resides in him and just pretend nothing ever change- it’d be a lie.

These people, his neighbors and friends, believed in him at first but quickly changed their tune. They let doubt cloud their minds. They turned against him. And he can’t just forget about that. He’s not sure who he can exactly trust now outside of Haru and Andy. He feels like he’s walking on eggshells.

But then the builder is there. And they’re new and fresh faced. They’re a change of air and Logan feels drawn towards them. Like, he doesn’t have to plead for forgiveness for them because they met him at his worst and he can only go up from there.

And everyone in Sandrock, he feels either betrayed him or he disappointed them.

So if he’s not with his express adopted child or his co-dad, he’s finding himself trying to capture the builder’s attention.

Need help carrying that? He can do it. Can’t reach that? He can! Forgot the rickety ladder? Logan can lift the builder up.

Requests commissions even if they’re far too simple for the builder to make. It’s a wonder why they’re the ones that snatch his requests up and not Mi-An- but he’s certainly not complaining, that’s the whole reason they’re up there.

He doesn’t realize he’s falling in love with them until Haru makes it clear that he’s got competition (bc let’s be real- builder was racking up relationship hearts with others before they could properly meet)

Jealous cowboy, anyone?

Like his adoptive son, he’s not afraid to take his time in waiting for them.

He just wants to establish that he’s there for them and to at least consider him. If they’re going to open their hearts to anyone, then let him please be on the list of potential candidates.

Logan’s never had a love language before or was really shown one (tho I hc him and Heidi being friendly exes who dated when they were young).

At first, he commissions a lot of weak weapons. Even the builder is confused about it because like, if anyone knows the strength of a weapon, it’d be the monster hunter right???

But then again, the weapons keep breaking and if the weapon breaks… then Logan gets to see the builder again for a valid reason, right? ( @paofia I see what u we’re doing here)

It’s not until Haru AND Andy are like “buddy- maybe you shouldn’t be wasting your money on pointless commissions?”

He ignores them and continues

Doesn’t stop until even the builder is so concerned and a little fed up that they build him really strong weapons for free and dump them in his arms telling him to stop breaking his shit

Logan_the_bandit.exe has stopped working.

His soul has left his body.

His heart? Irrevocably gone.

Logan is all cool and collected on the outside with his country drawl and spinning pistol, but inside he’s like, “I’d have to throw myself off this cliff if I drop this twirling pistol in my hand rn. I’d rather get hit by a train than embarrass myself in front of them.”

Andy being a lovable little shit and an absolute wingman but shoving into the builder’s legs and all that to push them into Logan.

Haru springs random moments for his pal by telling them Logan needed their help

Cue Logan having to quickly construct a lie because he was not prepared for this.

But taking that first step with Logan can go one of two ways:

He finally works up the courage to ask you out and appears far calmer and cool than he is on the inside

Or the builder snaps and does it instead

But one thing is certain: it’s fairly easy to see Logan blushing because of his complexion and white hair

Even if he wears his mask, his ears give him away too

I feel like Logan has a long running issue with love though and fears truly being with someone because of his mother leaving his father.

So the builder and him will have to slowly work through that.

Like Owen, Logan has a penchant for old fashioned nicknames.

It’s just what he vibes with and feels compelled to call his builder

Logan also grew up caring for people and once the builder is his, that’s it, they can’t escape his care and affection.

The man is touched-starved and Haru has long since gotten sick of his buddy hanging off him when he was bored or clapping him hard on the back after a job well done

But Logan treats the builder with so much affection and is afraid to break them almost. Afraid to scare them off

He’s been feared for awhile now and he doesn’t want that with them

So he fine tunes himself to be better and treat them with so much love and care

It actually helps quell his fears significantly when time grows closer to him becoming a father. Andy could handle his roughness and strength, but Logan worried so much about hurting the kid.

Having the builder be his and letting him touch them has helped Logan significantly.

One of his favorite sleeping positions- if they let him- is with his head on their chest. There’s something so incredibly intimate and beautiful to him about being able to feel and listen to his builder’s heartbeat when he goes to sleep and when he wakes up.

The same goes for when he sidles up behind them and wraps them in a hug, sliding a hand up to rest against above their heart just to feel it. Sometimes he does it on a bad day, sometimes he does it just because.

The only thing Logan plans in life is for his builder. Birthday coming up? He’s thinking of a thousand and one things to do. They’re having a bad day? He’s got a contingency plan for this, hold up-

If the builder wears his hat, he’ll die on the spot, it never gets old.

The prospect of traveling with them seems to excite Logan because he’s never really left the desert. But it also comes with safety precautions such as having to change his attire and letting his hair down, sometimes sadly limiting his speech around large groups of people- all because a lot of people in the Free Cities know of Sandrock’s infamous handsome bandit, but not a lot care that he’s a good man who has cleared his name somewhat. Judgment doesn’t cease to exist, afterall.

He will propose. Regardless of if the builder beats him to it or not. He will do it. It’s something he needs to do for not only them, but also himself. It’s how he finally lets go of his fear long instilled from his mother leaving both him and his father.

Logan’s love for the builder is indestructible and something of great might. He’s fought countless monsters, but he couldn’t keep himself from losing to his own feelings for them. And he’s glad he lost this one battle.

Heyo, what do you consider the top 5 must-watch EE interviews???

I AM SORRY I TOOK SO LONG TO ANSWER THIS and I think it's because I really don't have a proper answer!! So much of my deep dive into EE was done in one long hyperfixation spiral back when I was first getting fangirl-level into them, a good 6 or 7 years ago, and so I'm running into the problem of most of the interview content I've consumed all sort of homogenizing into one sort of blur of Lore that I've internalized and I am not doing a great job at separating out into its individual components! So, that said, the following list is probably not in line with what I'd actually ultimately believe to be the best, most crucial ones--it's just the ones my brain can call to mind at the moment. lol. BUT HERE ARE SOME:

serious/insightful: • Jon and Alex for Tape Notes podcast. (so not a must-watch so much as a much-listen, but there are a few individual clips from this on youtube in video form as well I believe.) RDF is my favorite EE album and I thought this was a hugely interesting look into their writing process and also had a bunch of cool personal stuff in it! Plus, I think it's a very good look at who the band are, like, "now" -- there's a lot of great content around from MA up through GTH, but by the time they were on album 4 and all like, 30+, and especially once covid hit and sort of changed the trajectory of like.. bands, in general, I feel like it's just been a different animal re: regular interviews etc. • this 2013 3-parter with Jonathan. It's been ages since I watched it but I remembered it almost immediately, and for some reason I'm remembering it as an oddly vulnerable Jon moment. just talking about things. (more good band lore! etc.)

funny/meme-y: • Mike and Jez at Isle of Wight. Unlike many others, I could not possibly count how many times I have rewatched this, and it is funny every time. The interviewer is a buffoon asking totally clueless questions and Jez is having absolutely none of it, he's just chomping his chewing gum the entire time, Mike's doing his best, it destroys me. • Mike and Jez look at memes. Less interview-y and more just #content but whoever edited this video did a TOP NOTCH JOB and it's one I often show to not-in-this-fanbase friends that can still be a fun look at the band and a good laff. • This very sweet one with Alex and Mike being interviewed by a literal child. Contains the infamous "Jeremy, and yes," which is one of my most quoted EE-related sentences ever • this Man Alive track-by-track, also audio only.. the BITS that Jon and Alex are doing. truly incredible stuff

just lads having a nice time :) : • the CAPSLOCK ON talkback - lots of pleasant band and lyric insight, and a great Jez cheese moment at the end • this livestream dot com session is some performing but some Q&Aing, so not really an interview proper, but the energy in the room is delightful alskdghj

other noteworthy bodies of work: • anything with Andy Backhouse. I'll be the first to admit that Andy can grate my nerves sometimes, he often feels annoyingly a little too simp-y or something, but the other side of that coin is that as a huge fan of the band he actually does always ask them questions that are like, Real, he Gets them, so it's guaranteed to be a notch up from just random music journos who are engaging with them on a more surface industry level. Nothing is more frustrating than watching an EE interview where the interviewer just so blatantly doesn't "get" EE's whole deal and doesn't know how to interface. Andy never has that problem ! • any episode of Chips of Chorlton that features them (I think Jon's been on twice and Jeremy once). Dutch Uncles are their friends and hearing them all shoot the shit in an extremely comfortable environment is suuuuch a pleasant and wholly different experience than when the lads are being Professional Music Band guys, even when the latter still consists of them doing fairly goofy things

Strangeness and Charm - Part Three

Word Count: 2.2K

Summary: Season 1 AU where Andy and Kyle arrive at Charles Lee Ray’s old house before Tiffany leaves with Junior and Nica and ultimately save them. Set in 2017, two weeks after Cult since that’s when the show was originally mentioned to be set and in my opinion, makes the most sense.

Notes: Yay! Nica’s awake, I love her and I loved exploring her thought process in this part as well as Kyle and Andy’s since someone *cough cough* Don Mancini *cough cough* seems to neglect their feelings. Also I’m a complete sucker for BarclayPierce, so there are hints in this part and finally, happy birthday once again to Alex Vincent.

The first thing Nica was aware of was a feeling of comfort. She couldn’t remember the last time she had felt that, it must have been what? Four years? Closer to five, actually. 

But, oh God what does that mean? She let out a soft whimper as she tried to remember what happened before she passed out. She just hoped that this was her waking up and not her regaining control. 

That’s when fear struck her, after the first time she regained control she knew there was nothing she was safe from. She slowly began to open her eyes against the sun rays on her face, dreading the sight of the blonde psychopath she expected to be greeted with. 

“Andy, Kyle! It looks like Nica is waking up." 

Andy? Kyle? And that voice definitely wasn’t Tiffany’s but Nica couldn’t bring herself to get her hopes up. 

She fully opened her eyes, squinting against the light and began to push herself up to sit. That’s when she met eyes with the 6 people in front of her, four teens, two she could remember from before, the others she didn’t recognise. And then two adults, a blonde woman, but not Tiffany. Definitely not her and a man, close to her age. Possibly a few years older and something about him seemed familiar, she couldn’t quite place what.

Wait.

Andy, Andy Barclay?

She supposed it could be possible but she knew the dangers of getting her hopes up. The last time she did that she was faced with Tiffany telling her that Alice was gone before gleefully dumping her killer in her lap.

"Where am I?” Nica asked, doing her best to keep her voice steady. She couldn’t afford to show weakness, not when she was already at a disadvantage.

“Uh, Hackensack. We brought-” Junior started, taking a step forward before stopping when he saw Nica flinch. “I’m sorry, I should have thought about that.”

Nica remained tense, eyes darting from one person to the next. Andy was becoming more alert now and slowly moved closer to the sofa bed.

“Look, we’re not going to hurt you, you’re safe. Okay, Nica?”

She made no attempt to move again but kept her eyes fixed on the man in front of her. She was doing her best to read his emotions, to find some form of malicious intent that she had grown so used to seeing in people but she couldn’t find it.

“How do you know who I am?”

“It’s kind of a long story but I’m Andy-”

“Andy Barclay?”

“Yeah…”

At this point Kyle put her guard up, Andy had said they needed to be cautious, that Chucky could trick them and she already had to get her brother out of a padded cell because of this one.

“You hear that from Chucky?” She asked sternly, if it was Nica she didn’t want to scare her but she just couldn’t risk it.

“Wha- No. I did some research the night he killed my family. I had been suspicious about where the doll came from and came across an article from ‘88. But, you know what he did don’t you?”

“You mean possessing you in an asylum?” Jake responded.

“Yeah, that.”

“Look, I’m sorry about this,” the blonde woman. Kyle? Began, “ but how do we know this isn’t Chucky talking now?”

“Believe me, if it was Chucky he’d be up and moving by now. The most I can do is drag myself around.” Nica responded bitterly, that was one of the facts she resented the most. That he could walk in her body when she had always been considered as less by people because he took that from her.

“How did I get here?”

“Oh um, Andy found both of us in Tiffany’s car and him and Kyle got us out before she came back.” Junior started, he made sure to stay where he was and kept his hands in plain sight. He had never wanted to hurt Nica in that house but he knew Nica really had no way of knowing that, the last thing he wanted to do was scare her again. “Look, what happened at the house. I, I didn’t, wasn’t going to hurt you. I just didn’t know what to do or what they would do.”

Nica looked at the boy, she could see the same nervousness in his face as she did in that house. She was still hesitant but she knew she couldn’t hold what happened against, Junior? As far as she knew, he could have ended up just like Alice if it hadn’t been for Andy and Kyle. 

“It, it’s okay,” Nica began, “believe me I know how manipulative Chucky can be.”

“We’ve got pizza if you’re hungry, it’s pretty cold now but-” Jake then cut Lexy off, “Or we have other food in the kitchen." 

"The pizza will be fine.” Nica responded quickly, she couldn’t remember the last time she ate and she imagined Chucky isn’t one to take care of himself, especially in her body.

“Here, take your pick.” Devon passed her a pizza box containing all of the leftover slices. 

“Thank you.” Without further discussion Nica took the first piece she saw, without even acknowledging the toppings. She couldn’t remember the last time she had a meal that wasn’t God awful hospital food, let alone pizza.

“I’m guessing you still have a lot of questions." 

Nica, looked up at Andy and slowly nodded. She finished off the slice of pizza before responding.

"Uh, yeah. Honestly, I’m not really sure where to start.”

“How about we tell you what we know and then you do the same for us?” Kyle suggested as she entered the room again with a glass of water, “I thought you might be thirsty.”

“Thanks.” Nica responded, reaching for the glass with a small smile.

The others proceeded to explain everything they knew about the current situation as Nica finished off the pizza, grateful to have anything close to a decent meal. 

“Well that explains why Chucky wanted me to kill, I knew there had to be something in it for that bastard." 

"Chucky tried to make you kill? When?”

“Just before he possessed me at Harrogate, one of the doctors.”

“Foley?” Andy asked hesitantly. The mention of that man’s name made Nica shudder before turning to Andy. 

“How’d you know that?”

“It’s kind of a long story but I had spoken to him a few times.”

“Why?”

“To, um, to try and visit you or prove you innocent I guess." 

Andy’s eyes kept flickering down to the floor, too shy to watch Nica’s reaction to what he just told her. He made the mistake of taking a quick glance at the others only to be met with Junior with a much bigger smirk on his face than before, almost identical to the one Kyle was pulling next to him. The same one she pulls when she thinks she knows better, or when he says he’s not a bad driver. Which he isn’t.

Meanwhile, Nica wasn’t sure what to do. She was still trying to comprehend what Andy said, and why would he do that? Genuine kindness had been such a rare thing for her since Chucky, it felt alien to her. She wanted to ask more about it, but she could see Andy nervously looking at the floor and decided it was best to ask them with less of an audience.

"Sorry,” Kyle began, “but going back to the subject of possession, I guess we should ask how often you’ve been in control.”

“Um, about two or three times I think. I think there have been some moments where I’m slightly aware of what was going on but I didn’t have control.”

“Well, when were the times you were in control?”

Nica hid her face in her hands for a second, trying desperately to fight the headache that began whenever she tried to think about past moments she was in control over Chucky.

“The first time I remember was November 8th so that was, what’s the date today?”

“November 13th” Jake pitched in.

“Right. 5 days ago, okay. Then it happened again, I think a day or two later? Then again when you two were there.” Nica gestured over to Junior and Devon before directing her next question to the latter. “Actually, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but how did you get to that house?”

“Oh, I had gone to investigate.” Devon responded quickly, anxious to go into further detail after seeing the confusion Nica had faced since being possessed. Although, the attempt was in vain. Nica could tell something was wrong and then it hit her.

“Oh God!” She began, “I was the one that hurt you, wasn’t I? I’m so sorry, are you okay n-”

Devon immediately cut off her apologetic rambling,  “Yeah, yeah, I’m fine now. Honestly, it’s alright. I know it was Chucky, it’s not your fault.”

Nica, looked over at the boy and gave him a smile and a small nod of thanks.

“So, do you have any idea what makes you change?” Lexy questioned.

“Um,”

“Tiffany slapped her when we were there,” Junior cut in, “that’s what made her switch back to herself. Don’t know how much that helps though.”

“Actually, it might. When I woke up the first time there was a guy that was tied up, I tried to free him but he ended up hitting me, which makes sense I guess but that’s the last thing I remember from that.” 

“What about the other time? Is there anything else that could have an effect?” Kyle pitched in, leaning closer.

“Uh, Tiffany hit me in the back of the head with something, that’s the last thing I remember from the second time. As for other things, blood maybe? That always seems to be near Chucky and Tiffany, I’m not sure if that affects anything though.”

“We could always test it!” With that Junior got up and made a move for the kitchen, Andy jumped up in response. “Woah, Kid what are you doing?!”

“Getting a knife.” Junior then clocked the concerned expressions of the others in the room. “Not like that. Just a small one, you know? To make a little cut and see if the blood works. No big deal.”

“Hang on,” Nica responded, looking around the room. “Someone tie my legs first, that will at least stop Chucky a little,  if this does work.”

Kyle swiftly picked up the rope on the ground that had bound Nica’s hands previously before moving towards Nica, who moved the blanket to one side. Kyle made quick work of tying Nica’s ankles together, double and triple knotting the rope just to be sure. That was when Junior returned to the room with a small vegetable knife, the sight of it caused the nerves to begin to sink in for Nica and she turned to her right to see Andy giving her a small reassuring smile.

“You ready?” Kyle asked, taking the knife from Junior and putting her own gun on the table next to her as Andy held his own, suddenly avoiding all eye contact with Nica. Nica took a deep breath, “Yeah.”

Kyle made a small cut on the palm of her hand before turning it to Nica, her gun now in the other hand. It only took a second of looking at the blood before the dreaded sinking feeling washed over her again and she let out a small whimper of fear before falling back.

The others kept their eyes fixed on her form, a gun in each of the adults’ hands. That was when Chucky let out a groan, pushing himself up and clicking his neck. 

“Kids, stand back.” Andy warned them, they didn’t need to be told twice, Devon had already begun to move back, grabbing Jake’s hand to make sure he followed. Next to them, Lexy and Junior did the same. 

Chucky opened his eyes, legs struggling against the binds and looked around before he landed on Andy pointing the gun pointed at Nica’s body. Chucky let out a smug chuckle before speaking, “Well, this is familiar. Ain’t it, Andy?” All of them remained silent, Andy seemingly frozen in place, refusing to take his eyes off of Chucky. “What? Ya not gonna shoot this time? No, of course ya won’t, not now you know she’s still in here.”

“Shut it, fucker.” 

“Wouldn’t want to shoot a pretty girl, r- agh!” Chucky was cut off as Kyle fist collided with Nica’s face, causing Chucky to fall back once again. Nica let out a gasp as she regained control before slowly sitting up again. “I’m guessing it worked.” she said weakly as she raised a hand up to her jaw.

“Uh huh,” Lexy responded, slightly bewildered. “At least we know how to get you back now.” Nica smiled at that, it was nice feeling as if she had some form of control again, and it seemed the others were reassured by that as well. Well, all except Andy, who seemed to be avoiding looking at her at all costs. 

Kyle decided to take over before things got awkward, “Right, so now that theory has been proven right, What’s the plan?”

Rereading the Ragnarok Arc cus I feel like there's a good bit of detail that I've forgotten, and I just came across this little gem from Ruin:

"There's only one of any given person"

Tozuka hasn't really revisited that concept beyond the general "you only live once" attitude that the entire story has, so I'm wondering if that will be an important part of Ruin's development during his "redemption" arc (quotes cus we don't know if he'll need to be reformed or if Fuuko will prevent him from being bad in the first place)

He specifically says it in response to Lucy's desire to save her mother, expressing that he can't understand the very concept of human connection, that it's unsettling and unfair that humans created a rule to put more value on someone with a specific role in their life than on a stranger

To him, who has no connection to other people, elevating the value of one person over another is ridiculous because no one has value. "When everyone is special, no one is." The fact that no two people are the same means that there is no objective measure of who is more valuable overall, so any subjective measure of value is inherently an affront to the "equality" that God bestowed upon humans (all being inconsequential beneath His light)

This view that everyone is equally worthless creates a perfect setup for his character arc; either he will come to learn the personal value of elevating those who are close to himself by creating emotional bonds with them, OR he will retain the mentality that everyone is equal and apply it in reverse, that everyone is equally worthwhile

He can either learn to value all human life as precious (perhaps confronting God with the mentality of "a king with no countrymen rules naught but hills") or to value the concept of bonds ("I would trade the world for you") likely towards whoever instills this mentality into him

Obviously we've all joked about Ruin becoming a simp for Fuuko, and I'm all for that, but I do think there are two more alternatives. Ruin currently views Andy as the only one equal to himself (both of whom are obviously below God and the Rules, of course) because they do have one objective difference to the rest of humanity: immortality. As they are the only ones blessed and chosen by God, they hold value that no one else does, so Andy would be a great focus for his development, either learning to love Andy for more noble reasons or learning to love like Andy does

The other route is for Ruin to be influenced by Lucy, who was the one to initially introduce the concept to him. Fuuko has all but explicitly stated that she doesn't plan to bring Lucy into the Union, but I think that her innocent attachment to her family would create a perfect foil for Ruin's solitude as well as illustrating the dichotomy between his two iterations

The perfect outcome in my mind would be for someone, likely Seal, to attack Lucy, who would in turn be saved by Ruin. When asked why he would protect a weak, expendable, replaceable Vessel, Ruin would mirror his original statement with a new inflection: "there's only one of any given person"

But oh my gosh, holy shit, just look at her, oh my godh, ahdgeufbjs My S/I is Ayano's younger brother who is a yandere for her but had a better progression in getting to be with her or he killed everyone and trapped her in the basement along with his sister's partner which leads to the two often butting heads on how to keep things working best they can. My ass can't even mention Yandere Simulator.

5. Andrew and Leyley from The Coffin of Andy And Leyley

My self insert is their cousin who was also wrapped into being sold with them. Is the third wheel who longs to be them and be with them. Honestly, he'd be lucky to get smoke blown in his face in a flirty way.

OH MY GOODNESS I LOVE THIS QUESTIOOOONNN

So since May 2023 (what happened there? I have no idea 😉) I've watched everything Jonah-related I could get my hands on (except for Little Women, but I'm definetly going to watch that later this year).

My top 3 Jonah projects OTHER than The Little Mermaid (because truth be told, I think it's pretty clear how obsessed I am with that movie and it's not really a fair comparison to some of the more indepent, even low budget projects Jonah has starred in) so far:

1. World on Fire (2019 - 2023)

Big shocker, right? Given how much I already rambled about Harry and Kasia (my traumatised parents) and how upset I was when they cancelled it. I will always mourn this show for the huge potential it had.

World on Fire is a BBC-show following different people in Britain, Poland, Germany and France (with some American viewpoints as well) as they have to endure and navigate their life through World War II. Doesnt really sound like anything we haven't seen, right? However, World on Fire is worth checking out imo, since it differs a lot from the usual Hollywood-infused war epics, because rather than focusing on the politics or the big battles, the show looks more closely at the everyday person that actually had to live through this tragedy and how they deal with what's happening. That being said, obviously this is still a show about WW II, so there definitely IS depiction of violence, murder and torture, as well as bombings, gunfire etc., so please be careful if you find any of those things triggering. I personally found some episodes quite hard to get through.

I think it's interesting that Jonah's filmography is very heavy on projects set during or related to WW II (additionally to WoF you have The Song of Names, Ashes in the Snow and ofc coming up The Tattooist of Auschwitz). Theories on why that is are welcome!

Harry Chase (brilliantly brought to life by our favourite British simp) differs quite a bit from many of Jonah's other roles in that he`s not your heroic, clean-cut good guy (like Andrius, Lucas, Mo or Prince Eric). He's insecure and a little helpless, even cowardly at times. Harry starts out as a translator, but later joins the British Army and the SOE. He fucks up repeatedly, both in his role as lieutenant, as well as in his personal life. Even though most of the time he means well, his cowardice ends up hurting a lot of people and leads him to be in the middle of a love triangle. (Though to me it's not a triangle, but rather a straight line, Team Kasia all the way.)

Harry, though deeply troubled, is a very kind and soft soul. That doesn't really pair well with the acts of war, as well as british society in the 1940s in general, which leads to conflict with other characters and their idea of who he should be. Especially when he clashes with his mother Robina (portrayed by the absolute MAGNIFICENT Lesley Manville, shes giving Emily Gilmore in the best way possible), Jonahs acting is ON POINT. His performance is so nuanced: He's angry, he's desperate, he's sad, but also condescending, sarcastic and hostile towards her. The interesting thing about Harry is the journey he takes. To watch him try to better himself by dealing with past trauma and taking responsibility for present mistakes. The real standout for his character is episode 5 of season 1 where he finally steps up and takes charge. This is also when he starts earning the respect of his sergeant Stan (Blake Harrison) for the first time - they have a real bromance, both on and off the show, I LIVE for these two.

But - just like in real life - he doesn't have this one breakthrough moment and everything is smooth sailing from there. He fluctuates, just like a real person would. He still has the tendency to run away from his problems, but I think what he's seen in the war, what happened at home and (yes, I'm making this about my ship) his love for Kasia (Zofia Wichlacz) make him realise the type of man he wants to be and he would probably try to act accordingly IF WE GOT A THIRD SEASON, BBC! 😤😡🤬

2. Old Boys (2018)

If you can only watch one Jonah movie, I beg of you MAKE IT THIS ONE!

I`ve found next to nothing about Old Boys and that seriously has to change. (watched the entire movie again, getting my non-existing gif-making skills ready, just the night before I got this ask, talk about fate)

This movie is so underrated, it doesn't even have a Wikipedia entry. Make it make sense! How is nobody watching this cutie-patootie work of art? Its adorkable in the best sense of the word, it's heartwarming, a little silly and oh! so funny!

It's losely based on the play Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand, set in an all-boys british boarding school in the 1980s. Given the source material, catfishing is definetly a thing here, keep that in mind if you might find that topic difficult.

Alex Lawther's character Amberson (cliché school nerd and victim of bullying) falls in love with the new french teachers daughter Agnes (Pauline Etienne) who in turn has a crush on First-Class-Himbo Winch (portrayed by a beautiful, dimple-faced, british actor). Because Agnes is very artistic and looking for someone that matches her vibe, Amberson helps Winch to try to impress her, because Winch himself is... well... a little dim 😅.

Winch is easily my favourite Jonah character to date (yes, including Prince Eric). I have seriously considered changing my tumblr-name to themightywinch because of him. I mean... he's corteous and punctual, after all 🤣😍.

While not the main character, he's definetly the highlight of the movie. Jonah is likeable, charming, the right kind of awkward in the right moments, has fantastic comedic timing and great chemistry with Alex Lawther.

Just look at that scene alone! IT`S. SO. CUTE!!! (cute-raging over here 😡) Watching this just makes you wish Jonah would star in more comedies, because he definetly has the skills for it! This is just a feel-good movie that leaves you smiling with a warm, fuzzy feeling in your heart. It has easily become one of my new comfort watches. Old Boys just never fails to make me laugh and I wish it would get more attention and recognition since it definetly deserves it! 3. The Last Photograph (2017)

Fair warning, this movie is gut-wrenching. I don't know if this qualifies as an actual trigger-warning, but this movie deals with the loss of a child/ death of a young person, as well as the real life tragedy of the Pan Am Flight 103 bombed in 1988 so proceed with caution.

Luke Hammond (Dimples McGee) is on said flight to visit his long-distance girlfriend Kate (Stacy Martin) in New York. Kate's and Luke's first meeting is a little awkward imo, I think it's meant to be like a meet-cute, especially with the whole "Bird"-thing, it just doesn't really work for me. But the rest of their love story is very endearing, they're just two young people experiencing love for the first time. Their time together is told through seemingly random, incoherent flashbacks and memories, just giving little glimpses of what their relationship was like and it's the cutest thing. Little intimate touches, hidden smiles, shared laughter... It's shot in a way as if you're watching them through rose-colored glasses, which is probably the point.

I love the way this movie uses different lighting and colour changes to depict a difference in the time line as well as the emotional state of the characters.

We only see Luke in flashbacks (guess why) and follow his dad Tom (Danny Huston) in present day (which in this case means 2003) as he is desperately trying to retrieve the last photograph (hence the titel) he possesses of his son after his bag was stolen. To see Tom slowly losing his grip as he grows more and more desperate to find the picture is truely heartbreaking. (It's a polaroid, so there are no copies, this is truely the last memory he has of Luke. God, I'm tearing up while writing this.)

Because Luke is basically just seen through the memory of his father who obviously holds him in high regard/ romanticizes the idea of his son, he is portrayed in a solely positive light, which usually wouldn't give much dimension to his character. Yet Jonah still manages to fill this role with life and witt and charisma, making you understand why Bird fell for him. He's sweet, romantic, a little bit shy, which works really well here, has the cutest laugh and clearly cares really deeply for his father. He's definetly portrayed as the "you simply have to love him" kinda guy, which is why his absence cuts so deep.

This is also in huge parts due to Danny Huston's performance. Honestly, the sweater-scenes (or jumper, if you're british 😉) almost broke me. And don't even get me started on his letter to Kate or Kate's letter to him... ugh. It's. So. SAD.

This is obviously not for everyday watch. However, even though The Last Photograph is heartbreaking, it doesn't necessarily leave you hopeless and depressed. This movie feels like a loving tribute to an actual person and therefore has a beauty in its melancholy. Throughout Tom's journey there is hope and forgiveness towards himself. There's a beautiful symmetry to the whole thing. The ending feels almost satisfying if you can say that in this context.

I also wanna give a shoutout to This Is The Night (2021). The movie itself isn't that great, it's a little all over the place and I think they tried to do a little too much all at once. But I looo~oooved Jonah in this, Christians character arc is by far the most interesting one and I wish the script gave their character justice in the way Jonah's and Naomi's acting did. (Also this is the HOTTEST he's ever looked which is a bit ironic).

This list is probably going to be outdated soon, since he has a lot coming out in the near future (I'm especially excited for Rich Flu).

ok I’m like… back to this. I do love that the coffin of andy & leyley is so brutally bluntly HORROR as in not pg 13 blumhouse ghost horror movies that shy away from anything too taboo but horror that’s meant to offend & upset. I like the way it sees shit you’re not “supposed” to talk about & goes as hard as it can like - I don’t think at this point it’s a secret to literally anyone who follows me or has ever discussed fiction with me ever that the controversial or daring are obvious draws for me in any genre but particularly my favorite genre of horror.

like an anon suggested this to me, I saw the words “cannibalism” “incest” & “botched satanic ritual” as soon as I googled & was ready to check it out BUT I think it’s worth noting that it’s not the dark concepts themselves that got this game its well earned hype or that ensure that it lives rent free in my head & the heads of other fans.

I think the writers have created really compelling & complex multilayered characters & a fascinating storyline with a lot of questions left unanswered about the nature of these demons & of human souls & the world these characters inhabit & I’m being so sincere here I also think it’s a really thought provoking critique or at least exploration of the american nuclear family.

I already said this but I would’ve stopped caring pretty fast if andrew & ashley were not more than their archetypes which SURE are fun we love a quirky evil girlboss & her simp boyfriend brother but the fun archetypes are not enough on their own to keep me hooked. luckily, these are some of the least 1 dimensional characters I’ve ever seen. this got carried away talking about how good I think the game is & giving an obligatory disclaimer that yeah, I totally got into it initially for shallow & edgy reasons lol but I actually wanted to talk about the themes because I genuinely think it’s an incredibly well crafted story. anyway -

I think it’s really interesting that ashley is the one that is originally shown believing / hoping their mom hasn’t truly abandoned them. andrew discourages her from having hope in their mom or considering trying to find her until it’s about finding sacrifices for the demon & getting money. yet this initial dynamic is totally forgotten once they’re home. ashley just wants to kill these motherfuckers while andrew is busy playing mind games & - one might argue- playing house / pretending be a happy family. it’s andrew who is offered the olive branch. who we see considering sparing his parents or at least feeling conflicted about killing them. in the flashbacks we see that “andy” was forced to take care of “leyley” & she uses it against him “mom says you have to play with me.”

ashley is so depressingly achingly desperate for any hint of affection & it’s so obvious the reason she’s latched into andrew is that he’s the only one who’s ever chosen her. that’s why she’s so obsessed with calling andrew “andy” despite the conflict it constantly creates. andy helped her hide a body. a possibly hot take but I don’t think leyley was going “yay murder” in her child brain - I don’t think she cared that the girl died don’t get me wrong - but I do believe it was an accident. this is a happy memory though because it’s the only time in ashley’s entire life that someone has chosen her with that level of commitment. yet for andrew it’s horrific & traumatic & he wants to get away from it - or so he tells himself. maybe his parents were decent to him or at least not actively hateful how they were to ashley but it’s abundantly clear based on the fact the story’s premise relies on them leaving him to fucking starve to death that they do not give a fuck about him.

when mrs. graves tells andrew that there’s still hope for him & that she always cared about him the compliments she chooses are telling - they thought he was easy, quiet, a good kid - they thought they could have another (& hand her off to him to take care of). and ofc it’s worth noting mrs. graves only says all this to save her own skin & would never freely talk about caring about andrew.

so andy is living this cold not abusive but certainly empty & devoid of nurturing life & along comes leyley. she’s annoying & needy but she loves him with such reckless abandon. adult ashley’s words say it all. “If only you could love me with half the heart I love you with.” but he DOES he just doesn’t know how to show it the way she does. so he chooses her again & again & tries to make her happy with violence & bending to her will & showing her he’d do anything for her with everything he can except the one thing she wants which is simple affection.

as things get more & more dire ashley gets more abusive, controlling & manipulative embodying the worst aspects of her mother - a cold heartless bitch who never cared about anyone but herself - & andrew gets more & more apathetic just like his worthless father who’s barely even a person in his wife’s shadow.

it’s a really tragic story & I love this idea of characters on the run but they’re really running from themselves & that’s something you can never escape. how telling is it that the one thing ashley doesn’t want is to be buried in the same grave as her parents? but this story is about a grave it’s always been about a coffin in one way or another, they thought they escaped when they got out of the apartment but they’re still in it because they’ll always still be in it, you can’t escape from who you are at your core & there’s a reason ashley having tarred soul is such a glaring theme & episode 2 (in some versions) ends with andrew gaining a mark on his hand from the demon. they’re marked & there’s no escape. I’m sorry it’s just REALLY good horror. ok I’m done for now

Alright so it’s been a hot minute since i’ve been here, life truly gets in the way and i feel that i’m going through the motions but finally after the buzz has settled i wanted to reflect a bit on Station 19 season 6.

I think we’re standing at a different place than we were by the end of season 5 and i believe that’s great. We went from that insanity -not in a good way- of season to something much much better. Few changes were made and it showed from the very beginning of season 6. To put it simply it was raw, by far the rawest season in terms of storyline, obviously because of what Maya went through, the repercutions it had on Carina and so on… Mental health was the overall arc for season 6 and honestly? I loved how it played out… Fair to say a LOT of people saw themselves in Carina and Maya which sparked the conversation -the very much needed conversation-

It was a rollercoaster but i’m glad we went through those moments because it lead to a healthier outcome instead of a quick fix it showed a more realistic side of a journey that can’t be taken lightly. On the other hand i wished they would’ve handled the Beckett story a bit better, by the end of it the writers made a good job by Vic checking up on him and just sparkling that conversation. I enjoyed the brief love triangle between Andy/Eli/Travis, it would have been funnier that they explored that angle deeper but i guess it turned out alright.

The expectations were so high when a female chief was announced but it turns out that it was just another love interest for a man, love to see it (please notice the sarcasm). While i don’t mind that Ross had history with Sullivan i kinda hated how her character just became the woman simping for the guy. They tried to redeem her a bit but it wasn’t enough. I would have LOVED that she actually made some changes within SFD to support women and actually make things better. Remember the storyline about fighting sexism? Yeah, me too. Anyways it was terrible that she was shamed for having a consensual relationship with another adult but it makes me grit my teeth the double standards: the whole you’re heroic for basically organizing a mutiny but when someone breaks protocol for saving a life that’s wrong or having a relationship with someone who outranks you but we’re totally ignoring that too, i get it, it’s for the sake of drama but certain things needs to make sense.

All that leads me to Andy being captain, we all saw it coming, there’s no way Maya was going to be captain again -at least not while being on 19- and while it should have been handled a bit better (the woman does have ambitions and putting a pause to pursue her dreams to heal does not mean she needs to abandon it) i think Andy deserved something a bit better, not just: alright you’re captain now. At least her first “shift” as captain was packed with action but still…

And that also brings me to Theo: at first he was like alright, laid back dude, gets the job done but the second he got promoted it’s like it flipped a switch on him especially being such an ass to Vic for absolutely no reason like ??? But at least she left him, i really liked how she pointed out that being happy for her friend does not mean she’s not supporting him (i wonder if that friendship also extends to Maya, after yk, call her a nasty person and do absolutely nothing to stand for her. Yes i will always be bitter about how everyone turned their backs on Maya).

Jack can’t seem to catch a break and God knows what’s gonna happen to him but at least he’s healthier and trying to stay out of other people’s relationships which i’m glad. I loved how Ben and Miranda where kinda there for Maya and Carina (i say kinda because it’s not like Maya had the greatest support out there but Ben did listen so that’s something. Also shout out to Diane, she’s incredible and i love whenever she appears)

Finally -because this is way too long lol- we know where we are standing in terms of Maya and Carina growing their family, for a solid minute i thought well, they are being ambiguous because it’s probably leading to that but no, it wasn’t. I wasn’t mad that they didn’t make Carina pregnant by the end of the season, if anything the scenes where they are discussing how many kids and stuff makes it so much more meaningful because Maya is obviously in such a better head space. Oh and just as a quick comment: Carina should have gone to therapy too, she needed to heal from that rocky period of time and it would have been cool to see her perspective, even if we saw sneak peaks with Vic, Miranda and Diane i believe sitting down and leading to a backstory would have been so much better.

If you got to this point i love you, i wanted to ramble a bit and finally found the moment to sit down and put this together (it’s a bit all over the place, just like my brain but bare with me). Catch you on season 7🤍
