I grew up with Andromeda, and Beka, Trance, and Rommie (well, all of Andromeda, but you know) made Sci-Fi as an entire genre feel more welcoming to me when I was a preteen gal. Thank you for them.

Thank you for watching! It's great to hear that Andromeda/Rommie, Beka, and Trance made you feel welcome in the genre. That was definitely part of the intention behind the characters. My wife and I talked about that a lot when I was creating the show. In fact, she suggested adding an "anime girl" character to round out the cast specifically to appeal to younger female viewers, and that's how I came up with Trance.

So I made a prop replica from a single obscure episode in Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda. (The food disc in S1E9 that I could write an entire essay on the symbolism of!) ...and trying to draft an effective Etsy listing for it felt like...

"Look, we both know a grand total of zero people are going to recognize this blorbonite whatchamacallit from my shows, but it's OBSCURE and SHINY so just lemme help my customers be a hipster about it."

(...and then I wrote half an essay anyway)

i gotta say, it was legit hilarious to start watching Andromeda season 2,episode 6 and have both my husband and i say, at almost the exact same time: "wait. when did The Matrix come out."

(the matrix was released in '99. andromeda season 2 was released in '01-'02. they definitely drew from the matrix)

((Andromeda's grip on the controls tightens as she closes in on her base: the last confirmed position of the strange entity. She's unfamiliar with the nature of this being, but she has her ideas.))

((She drifts to the side, halting just before the outpost. Her hands shake a bit, both with anger, grief, and anxiety. Then, she gains her composure and gets out.))

((She's silent, simply surveying the area for any movement, her gaze sharper than glass.))

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately especially after watching “The Ascendant” by Mischief productions but I’ve come to the conclusion that the real tragedy of the marauders era is the siblings. And I’m not even just talking about Regulus and Sirius, the ones we talk about the most, I’m talking about Narcissa, Bellatrix, and Andromeda.

also i'm super grateful because my nickname was a variation of "rommie" and that became my chosen name when i realized i was trans, so just. yeah. thanks for giving me that <3

SIGN-IN: TRAVELLER ANOMALY

Anomaly is interrupted by an episode of pained wheezing. He takes a moment to collect himself. Although the rest of his exosuit is still there, his helmet is not in sight and without it the tiredness on his face is plain to see.

-{{ There's no point trying to trace this. That's what my captor's claimed anyway, it's like they're making some horrible treasure hunt out of it. Don't do it. Don't give them what they want. I have no idea what they want with me but please just... Don't put yourself at risk for me. }}-

The traveller takes a deep breath before giving a weak smile to the camera, despite the momentarily glance he gives to the rope binding his hands together.

if i died today, would the world feel small, would the days stretch thin, would the night seem tall? would anyone notice, would anyone see the quiet i left where i used to be?

would they search my room for pieces, stray, in words i’d written or things i’d say? or would i fade like a breath in air, just a soft reminder i was ever there?

if i died today, would memories ache, or would they dissolve like mist on a lake? i wonder if silence would settle in place, or if laughter would fill the empty space.

maybe no one would feel the weight, or stop to pause at the turn of fate. and maybe it’s nothing, but still i find i wonder what’s left when i leave behind.
