Sharangovich Says Kuznetsov Has Some Of Best Chirps & Jokes In The League; Capitals Star On His Fun-Loving Style & Antics
..."He [said to me], 'Why can't you stand on your feet, figure skater?'" Sharangovich added. "I remember how he teased [Dmitry] Kulikov. Dima has big gloves... Kuznetsov said, 'Why don't you take off those kid gloves and change them to normal ones?' He not only likes to tease me, he likes to tease everyone."
Kuznetsov has prided himself on his sense of humor and fun-loving personality, declaring this past year that he's not going to change his antics. He even recalled how former teammates Andre Burakovsky and Jakub Vrana would be offended at times by his jokes, but he said that comedy and happiness are two important aspects of his life that he tries to intertwine with his career.
"I'm just not afraid to speak, you know? I always said what I'm thinking. And I believe that if people around me can handle my jokes, that means they always enjoy the life, too, you know?" he said. "Some people may take personal. They don't like me but that's not my business. I want to surround myself around people that kind of see the same way as me...
It's just me. I'm not trying to be somebody else, I'm just like that. You know, if somebody doesn't like that, they can talk, but I'm sorry. That's who I am, and I'm not going to change."
God, he has such corvid energies, I love him.

Bruins Squander Point vs. Wild
The Boston Bruins blew a third-period 2-1 lead only to fall 4-3 in overtime against the Minnesota Wild. It was the second straight game at TD Garden where Boston could not hold on to two points. Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov scored twice, including the overtime winner, but Marc-Andre Fleury secured the “W” for the Wild. The 39-year-old Fleury stopped 40 of 43 Bruins shots before notching his…

It is commonly believed that laughter is an expression of happiness; laughter is health and a recipe for a fulfilled life. But is that really true?
Few philosophers have written about humor; and when they have, they have rarely spoken positively about it. Plato complained that laughter weakens self-control, and he traced its source to malice. Aristotle considered every joke to be a form of mockery. The Bible also criticizes hilarity: “Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep” (Luke 6:25). John Chrysostom wrote: “Laughter and jesting do not seem to be sinful, but they lead to sin.” The superiority theory—one of the three most popular theories of the philosophy of humor, along with the relief theory and the inconsistency theory—is not sparing in its criticism: it assumes that we find something funny because we feel superior to it (Hobbes, Descartes, Scruton).
The exhibition visually explores this grim side of a smile in times of fashion for flaunting humor and hiding negative emotions.
"Sudden glory is the passion which maketh those grimaces called laughter; and is caused either by some sudden act of their own that pleaseth them; or by the apprehension of some deformed thing in another, by comparison whereof they suddenly applaud themselves."
Thomas Hobbes, "Leviathan"
The exhibition is part of Grażyna Siedlecka's long-term curatorial research on the relationship between laughter, humour and visual arts.
Graphic based on the artwork of Amelia Jawień.

Windowlicker is an experimental exhibition space. The pavilion acts as something between a gallery and an esoteric stall, thus referring to the tradition of bazaar fortune tellers. You can drop in for an exhibition, but also for a consultation, or read various publications on esotericism, zines, and photography books, and… look at unusual tarot decks.
The name Windowlicker comes from the English idiom "window licking" (window shopping) and the French "lèche-vitrine". Loosely translated, it means “licking shop windows”, which means looking at shop windows but ultimately not buying anything.
The space is run by two creative people: Milena Soporowska (@milsopo) and Piotrek Sobiecki, who performs under the pseudonym Lotus Reaction (@lotus_reaction).

why did andre burakovsky leave the capitals? he won the stanley cup with them, didn't he?
He himself requested a trade cause the Capitals didn't have room for him on the first two lines and he felt like he was stagnating and not getting the results he was capable of achieving when stuck in the third line with not that much of ice time being given to him there. The same frustration which later on hit even Jakub Vrana, who was constantly getting benched and scratched from the roster cause he was also stuck down there and didn't have much to work with so the Capitals being an age-old team, that clearly doesn't know how to handle young talents, focusing only on their precious Ovi, just traded him away to Detroit for Mantha, who unsurprisingly ended up being benched as well.
That's how Washington ended up losing two young promising guys, who won the Stanley Cup with them back in 2018.

RG MS Q3: Meet Your Lucky Losers
⚠️ This article will be periodically updated should there be another lucky loser ascending to the main draw.
Tumblr media
Roland Garros opening week illustration (📸 Ouest-France)
Several withdrawals occurred during or right before the qualification rounds started. Matteo Berrettini still had to withdraw from Roland Garros (likely due to the illness affecting him back in Rome), and recently, due to the injury sustained in the Madrid Masters 1000, Jakub Mensik also withdrew almost at the last minute.
As a result, there were likely 5 people in the lucky loser draw below, which might not include F. Bagnis as a result of his injury during his third qualifying round match.
Tumblr media
Roland Garros lucky loser scenario/saga per the conclusion of the last third-round qualifying match (📸 illustrated by me)
For a little introduction to the lucky losers, click here (for those who contested their third qualifying round on Day 1) and here (for those who contested their third qualifying round on Day 2). This will also contain the outline of their performance in their respective third-qualifying-round matches and a slightly vague preview of their first-round matches (take it with a grain of salt). In addition, click here for a more compact version on a Twitter thread.
J.J. Wolf (l. Jesper de Jong 1-6, 2-6)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
J.J. Wolf's points to 2-0* 30-30, 1st set (top left), to 4-2* 15-40 (saving a break point, 2nd set, top right), and to *5-2 15-15, 2nd set (bottom) (📸 Eurosport GB)
A tough clay season was already behind him, but J.J. found it rough to contain J. de Jong’s aggression at the Dutch’s best. Even if he had a forehand winner to secure a break point in the second game, J. de Jong still held the said service game to 2-0. The American second (qualifying) seed was unable to find his range in time, with either a forehand error or a double fault, where J. de Jong asked questions from (second serve) doubled the latter’s break to 5-1 before the first-set breadstick (6-1) happened. Somehow, J.J. became overwhelmed as soon as the Dutchman passed him through his forehand side, which helped the latter to break early (2-1) before consolidating the lead to 3-1. Even though J.J. tried to neutralize one of the break points in the 7th game of the second set, J. de Jong turned out to double the break as he perfectly set up the said game through his preceding forehand passes (5-2), earning him the opportunity to serve for the match. J.J. might have fired a forehand winner in hopes of prolonging the match, but J. de Jong was proven too solid for the second set to finally seal this round 6-1, 6-2, bringing J.J. to the lucky loser draw, where he ended up becoming one.
Interestingly, J.J. Wolf will face third seed Carlos Alcaraz in the first round, where, if he (miraculously) wins, there will be a possible third qualifying round rematch against Jesper de Jong in the second round. On paper, it might already be over, but J.J.’s range at his best might test C. Alcaraz’s forehand side. Who knows.
Jozef Kovalik (l. Roman Andres Burruchaga 6-4, 6-7(2), 4-6)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jozef Kovalik's points to *1-0 30-15, 1st set (top left), to *2-2 15-30, 2nd set (top right), to 5-3* 0-15, 2nd set (bottom left), and to 2-1* 15-40, 3rd set (bottom right) (📸 Eurosport GB)
One of the most in-form players in this round with 2 Challenger titles and 1 Challenger runner-up finish, J. Kovalik initially had a solid start by smashing his way to breaking early (1-0) in the first set, followed by a volley for his 2-point lead before holding his serves to 2-0. He turned out to double the break (3-0) several points later thanks to his forehand return ace to 2-0* 15-30, but he was unable to keep his range after Roman put his name on the board (4-1), where the latter broke (5-3) in the unseeded Slovak’s first chance to serve for the first set due to his forehand errors. J. Kovalik then successfully took the first set 6-4 and continued his strong run as he broke to 3-2 after outhitting Roman’s forehands. He even opened a chance to break for the match when he passed a forehand to 5-3* 0-15, but Roman had a massive hold to 5-4 before preventing the former to serve for the match with a break (5-5) thanks to his smash that generated his break point.
Conceded the second set as a result of the Argentinean’s dominance in the second-set tie-breaker, J. Kovalik tried to rebuild his momentum as he fired an intuitive volley to start the fourth game of the third set, generating his break point through a forehand pass before the “could-have-been” crucial break (3-1). It could have been defining if not for Roman’s successful drop shot that topped off how the Argentinean took advantage of J. Kovalik’s forehand errors before firing his drop shot for his break point before the break-back (3-2). The Zadar-Split double Challenger champion then turned out to be slightly overwhelmed once Roman got back on serve, with his forehands being sought for Roman’s break of serve to 4-3, and the Argentinean had not looked back since as he served for the main draw spot to 6-4, putting J. Kovalik into the lucky loser draw assuming Facundo Bagnis withdrew/asked to be prioritized last due to the injury sustained in the first day of the third qualifying round matches.
In the first round, J. Kovalik will face Marcos Giron. This could also depend on the latter’s day, whose clay-court campaign has been subpar insofar except for a semifinal showing in Houston (250). However, as long as the Slovak stayed aggressive and went after the latter’s baseline game steadily while relying on his point construction as displayed in the aforementioned third-qualifying-round match, it all would depend on whether he nailed the pressure points. A possible tussle is incoming at its best.
Otto Virtanen (l. Giulio Zeppieri 2-6, 2-6)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Otto Virtanen's points to 2-1* 15-15, 1st set (top left), for his game point at 3-1* 40-30 (top right), and to 3-1* 40-40 (second deuce, bottom) (📸 Eurosport GB)
O. Virtanen ascends to the main draw as Christopher O'Connell withdrew before facing qualifier Filip Misolic in the first round. He most notably defeated twice former runner-up and 11th seed Dominic Thiem in the second qualifying round, but he somehow appeared unserious in his third qualifying round match. His forehand failed him several times, even though some were good opportunities. For instance, he tried to close the gap in the fourth game, but G. Zeppieri held his serves, making it 3-1. His previous forehand helped him secure a game point, but it wasn't enough as he faced a break point due to G. Zeppieri's powerful shot. He could have handled that with a quick volley, but once G. Zeppieri regained control, there was no turning back for him.
Facing a resurgent F. Misolic, O. Virtanen's serious version could appear more offensive and overpower the Austrian qualifier from his forehand side, and come forward more often, but this still depends on which version of him appears in this match.
Next in line should there be another withdrawal: Matteo Gigante.

Who was your favorite nhl player that you talked to/dated?
Well, we can safely assume it wasn’t the one I dated, right?
I have a thing for Swedes, so probably Jacob Markstrom, Tobias Lindberg (only because he was so easy on the eyes), or Andre Burakovsky…
then there was Jakub Vrana. He tried so hard to act innocent that it was funny. Enjoyed that one.
But honestly I’m sure I’m forgetting someone… it’s just that I’ve put hockey players in my rear view mirror for now.

Note
i have heard that vrana has problems with manners and that all the coaches eventually complain about it, also, is the rumor about him getting addicted to drugs and therefore ending up in the program true?
Well, it's all speculations really, he himself or someone from his close surroundings credited enough to put the truth out there hasn't explained the matter publically so people are just assuming what's the reality of things.
It has been hinted on numerous occasions from numerous people, not just from the NHL but also from the Czech national team for example, during interviews or just internal whispers that got leaked to the internet that Jakub has a bit of an attitude, which oftentimes ends up clashing with the authorities that are deciding his fate. It's anything but a coincidence that he has been made a healthy scratch on basically every single team he has been on so far, St.Louis is no different right now.
Especially in Washington, there have been talks that he was immensely frustrated about not being given the space and ice time because the spotlight was given to the old renowned core instead of young guys like him or Andre Burakovsky, and he was reflecting that frustration in a not so acceptable manner that didn't sit well with the coaches and management.
Back in 2021, he underwent a shoulder surgery, returned to the Red Wings roster a few months later in March of 2022 but visibly struggled with delivering a performance of the level he was normally capable of, and in October 2022 he suddenly entered the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program - people started the rumors of him doing drugs because players seek help there mostly because of substance addiction so many automatically assumed that was the case even for Jakub. The fact that he "grew up" in Washington alongside Kuznetsov and others just added "credibility" to that assumption. Some were, on the other hand, saying that Jakub struggled with painkiller addiction related to his recent shoulder surgery. Either way, the true reason why he was on that program, hasn't been revealed and he is understandably uncomfortable about talking about it whenever a reporter brings that up.
