There are not enough Mpreg Parent Akeshu fics
I must admit, I'm a bit disappointed.
it's not like there's zero. There are some, but not nearly enough or I'm not looking in the right tags.
There's especially HUGE missed potential that not enough people utilize.
I've seen wholesome Akiren as a parent. Seems everyone is in agreement he'd be the chillest, awesomest, father.
But what about Akechi?
Goro "I had a bad childhood, no father figure, Mom passed away when I was young leaving me to grow up in either Foster Homes or the closest living relatives the Social Worker could track down. Who took me in but didn't want me. so I grew up to mask my true nature by being polite on the outside and a celebrity to get some form of positive attention, and I tracked down my deadbeat father who I'm going to ruin the life and career of out of spite and vengeance, for me and my late Mother." Akechi.
The man has childhood baggage, who knows how many young children he's interacted with as an adult. So his experience would range from "limited" to "none existent"
If one of these boys wouldn't take to being a parent well immediately, it would be Akechi. Like, the man is having an external crisis, he's not okay.
"I am the LAST person that should be a father. Do I look like fatherly material to you? I can't even recall the last time I interacted or made eye contact with an infant. Maybe I never did! I can do research and read books, I'm good at researching, I'm going to read the books no matter what but that can only help so much. I know what not to do, from my childhood. I'm going to try my best to do the exact opposite of what Shido did, but no parent is perfect, I could still screw the kid up! Not to mention I'm still processing the fact that MY RIVAL HAS A FUCKING FULLY FUNCTIONING UTERUS.
I knocked up my Rival
I knocked up the man I once shot in the head
I knocked---holy hell what have I done?
I've never been interested in Women, so I never thought I'd have to worry about accidentally planting a little me inside someone. Do you realize how many women I have turned down?
So here I was, thinking I'd be safe. That obviously nothing would come from indulging in a night of passion with my frustrating, Idiotic sexy, alluring, Rival.
But once again, you are just full of surprises apparently in the internal organs sense too because you can carry children and now both of us are unironically FUCKED."
"I'm not going to force this on you, I just thought you deserved to know. If you don't want to we can--"
"Pfft, HAHAHAHA. You say that like it's an actual option. Do I need to remind you what my upbringing was like? I'm not repeating the same mistakes, I'm not leaving. Granted you are obviously in a better financial situation and have a proper support group unlike my Mother. But if I decide to leave now, or stay but run later down the line, what's stopping our child from living in a constant internal state of guilt and loneliness, which will eventually evolve into anger and spite and once they're of age to move out, make it their mission to hunt me down and enter a false work alliance so they can gain my trust enough to eventually betray and torture me. Or just flat out kill me. And You know what? I wouldn't blame them! I'd kill me too if I could. I can't let that happen, I refuse to put a child with my D.N.A. through what I went through. So we are moving in and getting married (oh my god, I have to move in and marry my Rival) Because that's what Japanese family laws all encourage. And I'm going to internally pray and wish that I don't somehow manage to fuck up an innocent being that belongs to us, even though I have no idea what I am doing. Did I mention I have zero experience with babies and children?"
Point is, parentGoro! Has so much potential and it should be a crime that there are so little fics exploring that.

V9 post-reading thoughts
i enjoyed the book a lot. i was all for seeing bisco's wholesome and happy family life as well as red's absolutely soul-crushing and lonely existence. when i started reading, I was surprised that bisco and red get along so soon since i was expecting her to play an antagonizing role for most of it (and possibly try to do things like steal milo away). the cover and pre-release advertising kinda gave that vibe lol
it started off great then fell off for me at certain points in the middle, but then the ending saved it. we also yet again had a last minute plot twist/reveal of the true villain.
n'badu's identity was probably the most confusing part of the whole book and i did have to double back to make sure i understood what was going on. if he's the manifestation of bad timelines, is he a god of spacetime who can consequently only create negative events? it seems that way from when you look back on what n'badu had done throughout the book and what he threatens to do at the ending.
i thought this was going to be the end of the series, so as i got closer to finishing i was very confused how this was going to wrap up. i was pleasantly surprised that there's still going to be one more book. red's character arc is more or less resolved, but she obviously has multiple stakes in the new issues that have arisen so i hope she still plays a notable role in v10. i'm worried there's a good chance red will disappear for good when they inevitably defeat n'badu (see meta section).
i wrote down a couple of gripes/critiques prior to reading the final chapter, but many were resolved by the fact that there will be a continuation + the things cobkubo mentions in the afterword. ex:
i was sad that bisco/milo had zero scenes of just the 2 of them since those were generally the highlight of every other book. however, 9 essentially made red the protagonist and bisco/milo were more there to be HER support rather than the other way around like what we've seen in every other book. cobkubo mentions tho that v10 will be more about bisco and milo's bonds.
we never concluded what happened with milo and he's still stuck in another timeline, so that's yet to be resolved. as well as... like.. you know, everything else... I'm still sad that he wasn't there for the final battle tho.
Meta stuff
Early on we learn that red has never used the choushin bow, but its wish granting power was what I had thought to be the main thing that caused sugar's birth and why she turned out as a literal god, since sugar's powers are the highest form of the choushin ability. So in red's universe, sugar turned out as a normal baby bc red and blue never had that ability. Never being able to use the choushin bow ties into what red realizes at the climax, which is that she never truly believed in [loved] herself. She only fought and kept going bc she thought that's what everyone expected of her. She thought of everyone's love for her as obligations she could never fulfill, rather than seeing that everyone just loved her for herself and wanted the best for her regardless of what that meant in the end.
Because of this, red put the weight of the world on her shoulders and wouldn't accept losing or running away from what she thought was "her destiny". But she failed to save her universe at every opportunity she could have technically had, bc she didn't trust in herself or she doubted the love of those around her (like when she chooses to not kill blue). the timeline could have been saved had she gained the choushin bow, realized her true powers (and thus removed her achille's heel of the souls's power burning her when she used it), and/or if sugar was born as a god, etc.
when we learn at the end that red's timeline was just a copied reality and that she, everyone she knew, and everything she ever experienced were "fake"... my question was then "WAS it really all fake?" n'badu doesn't explain why he made the dark timeline, but i felt the implication was just that it satisfied his own desires of seeing 'bisco' suffer, since that was never able to manifest in the main timeline.
even if red's reality wasn't meant to exist, i don't think that makes her or her experiences any less real than bisco's. she is still a living, tangible being. and as we saw towards the beginning when n'badu tried to overwrite the main timeline, bisco too had begun disappearing in a similar way to how red did when she attacked n'badu. if all timelines are subject to be rewritten like that, then i don't see why one would be lesser than the other.
HOWEVER. framing red in this way makes me worried that she is going to disappear. i expect that in v10 she'll be around as a deuteragonist to bismilo, but in the end they're going to defeat n'badu and cause her to stop existing. it would be a very bittersweet ending, since bisco had invited her to be part of his family. another bit of evidence for this is the v8 epilogue... where in which red of course doesn't show up (cobkubo had not even thought of her character yet at that point).
there is a possibility tho for v10 to end well for red. since the antagonists are gods who can rewrite spacetime, sugar (freed from n'badu's control) may be able to completely remake red's timeline herself and allow her to live happily without rust/n'badu's existence.
re: the "do you love yourself?" bit from cobkubo's afterword:
milo is very confident in himself, bisco is unsure. i think this is exemplified by the parallel scenes of them trying to summon their special bows with only their own power. milo is able to summon it because he is extremely self-assured in who he is and what he believes he can do (thanks to bisco always believing in him/learning from bisco that he is a capable mushroom keeper). HOWEVER, this sometimes leads to moments of over-confidence that rebound negatively on him in some way. summoning the mantra bow completely exhausted him and put him in potential danger because he didn't have someone to share the burden of it with.
bisco was not able to summon the choushin bow at all because he needed someone else there to believe in him. he even specifically says "I can't do it without milo" because milo is the only person he's used that bow with/knows milo is the one who believes in him most of all. having red - functionally, himself - be there and say she believed in him opened up a new path to strength. it showed what he could do if he simply had the heart to believe in his own self.
Final thoughts
my initial impression upon finishing the book is that it probably ranks somewhere in the middle of my overall favorite volumes (maybe between v6 and 8?). i definitely enjoyed reading it a lot, the events felt more coherent than 8, and it surpassed my expectations in multiple ways. i'll prob have a more solid placement once i think on it for a bit longer.
positive/high points:
I think v9 has one of the strongest openings of any volume. the first 4~5 chapters were really good. I think the middle was a bit weak at times, but then the final battle saves it.
Has a pretty big cast of characters, both new ones and old ones who are brought back, but it was handled well and it didn't feel confusing. i think my summary probably made it seem more confusing
Red was overall a good and very enjoyable character. I liked getting to see/learn her backstory in pieces, because each new bit of info is a new sadness gut punch. she's also badass in the final battle.
I thought rust was a good antagonist. you could say there's not much dimension to him since he's just a ruthless and (literal) robotic murder machine who loves to see people suffer. but i like it. the whole point of red's dark timeline is that everything has gone to shit and is as terrible as could be, so rust matches that mood pretty well. not every villain has to be DeepTM
Continued the themes seen in 7 and 8 well, such as the idea that you should feel free to live your life the way YOU want and not feel burdened by others' expectations.
From re-reading thru the summary post and thinking back on the events, i felt like there were a couple hints to n'badu being the Real Bad Guy sprinkled throughout the book that i didn't notice during my initial read. in hindsight, this was not a complete surprise like the v5 ending's kurokawa reveal for example.
negative/low points:
I really disliked having bisco nerfed for most of the book by being turned into a kinoko. I feel like this detracted from the emotional impact of the conversations he and red have during this time. there surely could have been ways to showcase red's character than by eliminating bisco's usefulness to the plot for anything other than talking.
Related to above, while in kinoko form bisco often felt uncharacteristically goofy.
N'badu's speech pattern is annoying
Bisco self-cest hint at the end???? red isn't cool being kissed by milo but kissing her alternate reality self is just fine. it isn't cheating if it's with yourself.... i guess.......
other things of note:
This vol brings back citymaker, lifemaker, AND mantras with lots of new skills showcased for each one. i wouldn't say it was confusing, just maybe excessive.
We get a new tidbit of jabi lore
Domino comes back and gets to have a scene where she fights and is very cool. it was also fun learning her personality a little more since we don't really get to in 3
Salt is mentioned a couple times but literally does nothing the entire volume. i know he's just a normal kid in a story full of god-like powers, but they didn't even give him a single spoken line

[ I have Thoughts on the FB, let me tell you. ]
lets divide it into bits:
The fairies
Idc about them sorry.
Peony was wholesome and good on Triandra for finding out nightmares aren't hated. That's about all I have to say. I'm not sure how I felt about the Tharja segment tbh.
Sonya's Solo Story
For this I have nothing bad to say at all. I think Niime as a choice for someone for Sonya to talk to was a great idea, especially because they have a very similar history with the kind of magic that took away some of their family. Granted, the circumstances were Very Different, as is highlighted in the FB, but at least they have this to share in and research on together.
The Celica bit took me by surprise, I actually did not expect her to show up. However, I think it was also a good idea, seeing as Celica is probably the only person alive who has been turned into a witch and lived* to regain her true self. (*she did, however, have to die for it) Clearly, her circumstances were Special to say the least, but the fact it happened means saving a witch could be possible, perhaps even without the death part, they just have to keep looking. "The day I give up on trying to save my sisters is the day they truly die." Damn.
Mycen's Solo Story
It was nice to see FEH acknowledge that Alm was his own war tactician and is quite experienced and knowledgeable as a commander.
That said, we really could have done without Fjorm here beyond perhaps her role in being the player stand-in explaining Alm and Rudolf's beef if they hadn't played Gaiden/SoV.
I also feel it's a little odd of Rudolf to be avoiding Alm considering the Paralogue for Valentines literally ends on Alm and Rudolf trying to make amends and Talk (Celica pushing for it), and all of them going to the festival together. That said, it's not TOO odd, especially since this is a *different* Alm. It does feel like a bit of backpeddaling on the valentines event, though. Idk, I think this could have been elaborated more on.
Also, very silly of two old men to be arguing on who is responsible for Alm being who he turned out to be lol. No complaints on that, as much as it shows a little bit of what each other believes.
I do think it makes sense that Alm is a little sensitive about the patricide thing towards Rudolf and not Mycen simply because Rudolf in his world is already dead. There's no way to make peace with that, or amends with that. Mycen, however, is still alive. He probably already buried the hatchet with his adoptive grandfather by the point he got sent to Askr, so there's no need for sensitivity and hostility. To a point, anyways.
Anyway, mainly, all of this is minor 'eh... huh', my main issue is Fjorm being so prevalent in the story when it feels like she's just there to be a soundboard. Poor woman.
RIP Anna btw.
The FB Story Itself
I got jumpscared by the fact that it starts off ad verbatim like one of me and Bern's (@indumasname ) threads lol
I think the concept of the nothing, and the nightmares, is interesting.
Sonya's resolution with her own nightmares about being unable to save her sisters before she dies, and how they question her resolve, were touching and ended on a strong note. Very good stuff.
Mycen's, however...
That's the one I take issue with, of course, lol.
Mycen doesn't do anything to disprove what Alm and Celica say, he just speaks over them. Sure, they're nightmares, but they have a good point — he kinda threw two kids in a conflict he should have lead or at least could have assisted in.
In a way it felt more like writers trying to justify Mycen, but having no actual reasonable reason for him. Just "Well, he's right because they weren't shouldering it alone". Except adults around them forced them to take responsibility, and so did he, over a situation and world they had no hand in making at just 17.
It'd have felt more resolute if he had faced the children he harmed and admitted they're right, he DID put them in that situation. Maybe they weren't alone, but he set them on a path that forced them to grow up and suffer when they were barely adolescents, because he believed there was no other way to end the reign of the Gods. He believed in the prophecy, and while it worked out, they suffered for it. That would have at least felt like he was answering what the nightmares said… not just speaking over them and ignoring what they said. In a way, it made Mycen look like he constantly avoids the responsibility of what he did to those kids, and the writing put him in the right for it.
Closing thoughts
Alm vc

𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐀 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐎𝐔𝐒 𝐆𝐈𝐅𝐓, Francis thinks. But most especially when it leads to love. He treasures that he’s already whittled away a handful of years in sharing his life with Elio — and his heart could nearly burst with joy at the thought of how few grains of sand in the hourglass of forever those handful of years truly are. Time has also taught him to sight-read Elio — and while he might miss the occasional note of his loved one’s symphony — more often than not, they harmonize beautifully. He knows, for example, that his fiance is exceptionally bad at lying, and Francis should have known by the way he’s fidgeting, and gaze trailing off that he’d been hiding something — which does leave the troubling matter of exactly how Elio had managed to keep the ring and proposal a secret from him.
Francis is all too aware, and has been for the better part of his life that there are many pieces of oneself sacrificed for the supposed ‘greater good’ in the life of a prince. For years he had lived in his father’s shadow — until he had outgrown it and been forced into a choice. He had, of course, chosen love. And perhaps that would seem to be the end of it. This is, after all, the part that says ‘happily ever after’. But Francis fears it’s a bit more complicated than that. Duty still surrounds them — expectation and appearances and charities and knowing their people. Elio’s parents are not like Francis’s father — they don’t expect him to be someone he isn’t. Francis delights in the time he spends with Elio’s parents — it’s warm, and wholesome and each of them have gone above and beyond to make Francis feel welcome. And he truly does. It’s only...
...he’d thought he’d stopped overlooking things. Especially the important things. And so, he lingers on it a bit — both overjoyed at the surprise, and concerned that perhaps he’s overlooked a few things — missed cues. And the thing is, when you love someone — you want desperately to make them feel that love. For them to know that they’re seen and heard and not taken for granted. Francis doesn’t want to spend a single day of his life not giving gratitude to the Universe that brought him this dear and precious man — who has thought of precisely everything to make him happy. He wants to know Elio so intimately that he can conjure his likeness in each song that he writes — recall each moment with the same vivid detail he’s memorized his favorite stories.
“You’ve been busy,” he says, moving their hands a bit so that he can wrap his arms around Elio. Thoughtful. His love is so thoughtful and good. Francis’s heart is filled with joy, and homesickness all at once. It’s been so long since he’s seen his family. His father won’t be present of course — but his mother, and his siblings. “Remind me once the party is over,” and surely it will be a party if his mother is involved. She does so love the things. “To kiss you absolutely senseless and remind you of how much I love you. As a matter of fact,” he says, leaning in. Elio is right of course, they’ll have to go in soon. But one more thing, he thinks, as he presses his lips against those that belong to the love of his life, sharing a long and tender moment — Francis’s hand stroking along Elio’s back in gentle circles. “There, that’s better,” he says with a gentle smile. “But it’s not nearly enough.”
@lovepurposed
"You're biased." Elio teases, "I bet there are some people who would call me a handful or who would not like me if they got to know me." Now if they met Francis that would be something different. He's like a ray of sunshine on a beautiful day, always radiant. Undoubtedly he would get more admirers if people ever found that out. "Not that it even matters because I got you and that's all I'll ever want and need."
"That sounds a lot better." He agrees smiling, while intertwining their fingers. "Together always," Elio repeats while glancing down at their hands, and the ring that is shining in the sunlight on his fiance's finger.
He looks up and feels his cheeks instantly turn red as if caught in the act. Naturally, his other half had noticed he kept glancing at the castle. Keeping two big secrets had been difficult but at least the most important one - his proposal had stayed a surprise. "I… No, I'm not cold at all." He stammers while trying to conjure up a good reason as to why he had been glancing at the palace but his mind remained blank. Guess it was time for some honesty.
"There is a party waiting for you." He finally admits while biting his lip."Some of your family members flew over for your birthday I wanted all of this to be a surprise but …" Trailing off he smiles sheepishly at him, "At least I managed to keep one thing a surprise? And before you ask no they don't know I was going to propose so no one knows besides the two of us so we can keep it to ourselves but I do fear - even if I would love to stay here with you - that someone will come looking for us eventually."

Yandere Kel, Sunny, Aubrey and Kel Having Their First Kiss HCs - Omori
ALL OF SUNNYS SPRITES SUCK SO JUST IMAGINE THAT HES SHY AND NOT SAD
[yandere Kel x reader]
-Kel is already clingy and affectionate so the thought of actually kissing isn’t really foreign to him
-however, it really depends when it comes to Kel
-he’d either go straight into the kiss by kissing you when you guys confess to each other
-or chicken out and either wait for you to kiss him first or somehow get pushed into it by a friend
-if he were to kiss you first, he’d be giddy and confident
-like i said, he’d probably kiss you either as a confession or after the confession so he’s already on cloud nine
-he’d probably pull you into a hug and then he’d immediately take you with him to go on an adventure/date
-the kiss was also probably more on impulse then him trying to make it more romantic or anything
-but he’s hyped up about it for the rest of the week, telling everyone he sees how happy he is
-if you kiss Kel first, he’d still be giddy but a little shy too
-pretty much every time he gets a kiss from you he’s excited so there’s nothing really shocking about that
-but he was probably caught off guard since he wasn’t really expecting you to kiss him first
-he’ll be uncharacteristically quiet at first; the first thing you’ll probably hear from him is an awkward laugh
-but he’ll start speaking again soon, albeit with a bit of a stutter
-he’s always up for affection though, no matter who kisses who first
-this is one of the ways to really cement Kel’s obsession with you
-with every big romantic gesture that happens throughout your relationship, it makes him more and more unhinged
-hopefully you didn’t think a kiss would tone him down because now it’s just going to get harder to get away from him
-and Kel just continues to be blissfully oblivious to his own toxicity, instead focusing on how to give you more and more of his affections
(i had to hand edit this btw)
[yandere Sunny x reader]
-Sunny is surprisingly shy about the whole thing
-he always keeps a poker face on, and yet the thought of kissing you makes his cheeks burn red and his hands shake ever so slightly
-if Sunny were to kiss you first, he’d try to make it special
-like during a sunset while you two are hanging out or maybe after he takes you home from your first date or something
-you could probably tell that he’s thinking about it too because he’s shifting a little and avoiding eye contact
-he’ll probably try to run away from the embarrassment after he did it, but he’d probably just run around the corner and then watch you from afar to see how you feel about it
-if you were to kiss him first, he’d be both excited and a little nervous
-he probably wasn’t expecting it even though he’s been trying to plan out his first kiss for awhile
-he’s less embarrassed if you did it though, and that embarrassment is replaced with giddiness
-he’s still very flustered, but not enough to run away or anything
-the thing Sunny is nervous about is how you feel about it
-he’s less confident about it because he barely got a chance to plan it, so he’s worried that you’re not going to like him or something
-but other than that, he’s ecstatic
-very pleased with the fact that you just couldn’t wait to kiss him
-no matter who kisses who, it’s probably the first time you’ve seen a more vulnerable part of Sunny
-you can either handle him with care or take advantage and manipulate him
-he doesn’t care which one you do, he just couldn’t handle you leaving him after something like this
-he thought everything was fine; or at least fine enough for you both to finally kiss
-all he wants to know how he can fix it and who’s actually at fault for ruining your relationship
-he knows that neither you or himself can be the problem, so he has to figure out who ruined his first kiss
[yandere Aubrey x reader]
-Aubrey is more shy about it than she admits
-she probably has daydreamed about it once or twice, even before you both were dating
-she probably doesn’t worry about it being some big romantic event because she “just wants to get it over with”
-she’d honestly be over the moon if your first kiss was at a dump, she just wishes she could get the nerve to actually kiss you
-if she kissed you first, she would probably try to play it cool
-it’d be after a small date or maybe just a hang out with her gang
-and while you both are alone she’ll just give you a quick kiss
-she’ll try to play it off by just walking away or speeding off on her bike
-but the moment she gets home she’ll be monitoring her phone like a crazy woman
-she wouldn’t hesitate to track you down to get a response from you
-if you kissed her first, she’s both caught off guard and a little euphoric
-she would take awhile to finally kiss you so it’s not like it’d be shocking if you just decided to go for it
-she would be take aback though, but she tries to shake off the shock and play it cool
-but you’d probably know how she actually feels since not only would she be blushing, but she’s got a very genuine smile on her face
-not a smirk or anything, just a soft and sweet smile
-no matter who kisses who, that brief affection that you two share always fills Aubrey with complete euphoria
-in that moment she’s sky high and full of adrenaline, this is the happiest she felt in a long time
-Aubrey’s reaction is actually more wholesome than you’d expect
-granted, she does still obsess a little more over you
-but it’s more of the sweet kind than the murderer possessive kind
-don’t get it twisted though, Aubrey has a short temper and could lash out your or her friends at any moment
-so just let her relish in the moment for awhile, okay?
[yandere Basil x reader]
-Basil has definitely thought about kissing you before, honestly it’s almost all he thinks about
-there’s just something about him that makes me think he cuddles and kisses his pillow and imagining its you he’s while trying to sleep
-since he wants to kiss you so badly, i think he tries to hype himself up by talking to himself in the mirror
-keyword is tries because even his own delusions can’t convince him that he’s ready to actually kiss you
-i do think that he’d eventually be able to do it, but you’d have to be really patient
-if Basil were to kiss you first, he’d be very anxious and tense
-it would probably just be a quick peck on the lips because i don’t think he’d work up the courage to actually do much more
-you could kiss him more if you want! it would probably be the best way for you to respond to him
-you can also just tell how shy he is, not only is his face red but his legs are visibly shaking
-but even though he’s more nervous than both Sunny and Aubrey combined, i think he actually wouldn’t run away after kissing you
-sure, he’s avoiding eye-contact and trying to hide his face a bit, but he just wants to see how you react right here and up close
-if you kiss Basil first, he’s still jittery but now for a different reason
-there’s just so much visible joy on his face in that moment
-not only did you want to kiss him, but you also wanted to kiss him so badly that you couldn’t wait for him to start something
-i can imagine him covering his mouth afterward and giggling a little
-he feels like he shouldn’t be this surprised you kissed him because he was literally waiting for you to kiss him ever since you both met
-but i guess there was still a bit of doubt he tried to ignore
-but that doesn’t matter now, that doesn’t matter at all!
-you kissed him and he’s never been happier
-it’s the new thought that constantly plagues his brain, Polly probably notices how Basil will start randomly blushing even when absolutely nothing is happening
-he won’t be getting over his first kiss anytime soon, he’ll cherish the memory until he dies
-so please kiss him more, he doesn’t mind when or where he just wants you to kiss him until he can’t breathe
-whoops... was that too far? he’s sorry, he only wants what you want, of course!!

Sooooo whatya think of the new episodeee?
Oh it’s definitely my favorite episode of the series so far, i was having such a good time at every turn. I’m glad i went out of my way to avoid spoilers, cause i was glad to actually be surprised by some elements on first watch.
I think this had by far the best opening for an episode so far, we finally get back to the villians, we meet the coven heads, we get insight on belos’s plans-
and then belos gets constipated, which starts getting into the more character driven lore, which is the best part. You instantly can tell GG and Kiki have some bit of tension between them to be Belo’s favorite, though granted i wonder if hunter is the only one to know belos is cursed and actually just always insists to help belos with his fits to prevent others from seeing them.
Including kiki.
It’s honestly unclear how aware anyone is that belos is cursed, like him eating pailsmans is apparently not something he hides, but like....i feel him being cursed is something that people would know universally if it got out...so i’m left wondering if anyone knows besides hunter.
Regardless, belos turns into a goop monster with an angry side, and i guess his mask doesn’t transform with him compared to the rest of his body so he breaks it again because i guess he goes though masks like crazy.
Hunter turns away in this scene from his outburst and even though he’s masked here i can already tell he’s most likely pained in these scenes. Like he’s probably seen this happen so many times, and i can’t imagine it gets any easier for him, it’s probably awful to watch belos suffer like this for him (Regardless of the abuse)
And to be honest, it seems pretty painful for him, i think this ep seems to at least confirm whatever this thing is that takes over belos’s body.....belos never actually wanted it in the first place.
Yeah so after Hunter tells belos there’s not enough trees to medicate him anymore, we’re hit with the “UNCLE”. Which, when i first watched it i needed a second to even process the fact they confirmed their relation.
and i was like “CLOSE ENOUGH”, not his kid but uncle still works just fine for me, i’m just happy my assumption they were related actually came to ahead.
And i rewatched this episode a few times, and on second watch i realized more what happened in this scene. Hunter was talking about his interest in wild magic, and making more pailsman to help belos, and some method that could heal him and as soon as belos looked at him he instantly shut down.
He was clearly rambling about wild magic cures for belos because of his interest in it, and then suddenly remembered his uncle hates wild magic and felt super awkward.
It seems highly likely his interest in wild magic came from trying to cure belos and spending a lot of time reading up on the stuff.
And then we get hit with the whole “Our family is dead because of wild magic” line, which.....i’m curious to know what happened there. But it does at least explain why belos feels how he does, if wild magic both killed his family beside hunter AND cursed him in the first place. We’re just gonna need more info on what exactly happened.
Also while Belos is def abusive and does not treat hunter how he should, this scene actually does read off to me like belos does care about hunter to some degree. If belos is cursed and his curse works in similar ways to how Eda’s curse works, then it’s worth reminding ppl that eda mentions early this season how stress can amplify the curse even more.
And sure enough, belos goes goopy on hunter’s shoulder all of a sudden when he grasps him. Which could be considered a sign of stress and that the idea of hunter dying or being in danger actually does stress him.
You could very much also assume this is just due to his curse not being fully handled and just getting worse, or that belos only cares about hunter for selfish reasons....but i’m not taking anything off the table here.
Belos can still be a shitty uncle, and still care about hunter, these aren’t mutually exclusive traits. But we need more episodes for now on this.
But anyways he asks hunter if he can rely on him, kiki is pissed......and we move on.
So i’m glad luz’s impulsiveness is addressed a ton in this episode, they actually bring up a lot of good points. That luz has no plan, that the time she’s spending here might render moot if she goes back to earth, ect ect.
Hunter even calls her out a lot later for not thinking things through, it’s a whole deal in this episode. I’m glad it was brought up cause it’s actually worth asking a lot of these things.
the set up here works, they actually made a good reason for why a pailsman didn’t bond with her. Speaking of which the adoption thing is cute and i love it, it’s a great idea. The designs are all very cute and fun.
Bump face reveal was a lot for me to process, but i find the idea of his pailsman being a pet that can help with his disabilities a good idea.
Also like, i did find it odd that they got staffs so early because we’ve never seen kids their ages with them before, but i guess it’s a new tradition? Does everyone at hexside now have one?
Honesty not sure why batqueen left the nest there overnight, i meant i guess she assumed they were safe with that shield but in context i dunno why she didn’t take them home after the school day was over.
but whatever, luz stays there overnight hoping a pailsman will bond with her and GG just kidnapps them cause of pure luck on his part a bunch of pailsman were in a vulnerable spot tonight.
So GG continues to be charming, by whistling the theme song and then being blasted off his ship hilariously, before cockily teleporting himself right back on it seconds later. Like he and luz have great banter, he’s so extra like this it’s so funny, and god he’s so FAST with that staff it’s scary but so awesome.
Yeah so then hand dragon crashes them and i was so excited cause it meant face reveal. Poor dude looked so in pain and then we find out kiki tried to effing murder him because of course she did. But like, i think killing your boss’s nephew is the WORST way to get a promotion tbh.
(Also i got confused for a bit cause his mask has always been drawn as a mask, but now it’s a helmet in this scene for whatever reason but-)
Anyways, face reveal, Like honestly ppl weren’t too far off with their guesses, really the only thing people didn’t get was the tooth gap (That was fair tho, we couldn’t have guessed that). But it did make him even cuter.
like the banter is funny, he licks her hand, she slaps him, he looks SO pissed at her for this mess.
and i guess that outfit is his under armor apparently.
He’s lucky she didn’t run away immediately and followed him, but maybe he assumed she would since she had no where else to go.
Also his expressions in this ep are glorious, these had to be fun to draw.
Also we find out that the coven team members have never seen his face i guess? They just assume he’s a silly kid and are awful to him, so i guess he’s not only the youngest member of the coven but he never really shows his face much.
(”Call your parents”, ha ha.....whose gonna tell them who his uncle is?)
He is however, REALLY good at parkour and he’s fast even without his staff, so he’s well trained alright.
And then they reveal he’s not magical and i was SO happy cause i was so sure something was up when he wasn’t doing magic like the other witches despite his pointy ears. So they outright confirmed what i thought.
Hunter is pretty smart tho, like he can tell luz wouldn’t hurt him and wouldn’t flee so he knows he has the high ground here. Like he might be being a bit of a dick, but to be fair luz has been nothing but a dick to him throughout the whole episode (Everyone in this episode has been a dick to him tbh)
They team up and i get excited cause i love this kinda stuff and it gets more wholesome because hunter is super interested in her magic, he thinks it’s cool and you can tell how much he actually loves wild magic but then again...shuts himself down because of belos making him fear the stuff.
An then because luz asks, he tells her his backstory.
honestly with how this world treats people who aren’t magically powerful, living and growing up in a world that would find you useless sounds....awful. Hunter must be an anomaly around here, human blood or not.
Luz coming here to learn is different then growing up in a world and being the only one with no abilities and no future without them. Belos provides him with magic and a future, it’s no wonder he stays with him despite everything.
the whole “Found me” thing is weird, cause belos implies they’re blood related and hunter makes it sound like belos semi-adopted him. Which....if he did i dunno why “Uncle” and not “Adopted dad”, but ok....guess that’s for later.
Apparently hunter is important for something tho with the “Titan has big plans for me” thing, not sure what, but-
But yeah as soon as Hunter talked about wanting to make his own future and Rascal tried to land on him i knew EXACTLY where this was going, it was so cuteeeeee. The lil birb wanted to be with hunter, that’s so wholesome.
And he’s so terrified because of belos and what wild magic did to him, the poor bab.
But yeah, luz then trusts him with his staff back, because again....impulsive. But hunter does actually ask if she’s sure, so he might as well be asking if she trusts him.
The plan goes ahead, and hunter nearly betrays her.
though granted, hunter never promised her he’d stop and let her take them away, the truce was supposed to last till kiki was stopped and they were gonna fight out who got the pailsman. But it does bother luz cause she was hopeful he was better then this.
But just like he did before, she calls him out and he doesn’t betray her, because he’s ALSO too nice to do it, just like he said she was. He says his name (Which also took a moment to process), and then beats the crap out of kiki while letting luz get away and protecting her like a badass.
He might not have magic, but he’s good at fighting
like he can easily teleport to luz and take the pailsman, but he doesn’t, he lets them get away and luz knows this. Even though she also knows hunter has to go back to the emperor too and they have to separate.
It’s only slightly bitter terms, because in the end he came through for her and she knows it.
honestly, the worst part is i can’t even be mad at hunter for it, i’m sure he was terrified to fail belos. Both because he loves him and doesn’t want him to suffer....but also because of well...being punished. Really says something when his near betrayal doesn’t even make me mad at him, and i can understand why he nearly did it.
He let her go, knowing he’d be in SERIOUS trouble and that it would hurt someone he actually loves, so....ouch.
so yeah at this point i knew rascal wanted him so it was only of matter of what happened next.
Which was, luz getting the wood, which i like more anyway. Eda and King doing this offscreen and coming home like this is actually very funny, and honestly i appreciate the message of it being ok to wait.....means a lot to me.
yeah so belos is like...being an ass, like the kid tried his hardest, you don’t need to hit him with the “Is this the thanks i get?”. He’s a kid and he’s trying to cure you you dick, give him a break he doesn’t remotely have to help you like this.
Also apparently belos has not even told hunter HOW this happened, like...dude. Hunter is trying to be entirely reasonable here and belos spikes at him, which does imply some physical abuse though the only reason hunter doesn’t get a new scar is because he moves.
but how he reacts implies this has happened before, he is bracing for impact and he flinches. It’s pretty sad tbh, especially since hunter loves him and belos’s respect means something to him.
Belos is such an idiot, like c’mon dude, hunter is trying to help you and you don’t listen to him you dick. Kid shouldn’t have to say sorry for anything he did nothing wrong, he was just trying to help.
Anyways, he gloats at kiki (So at the very least she knows what he looks like under the mask), which he deserves a chance to do anyway. So i guess he didn’t rat her out for trying to kill him, personally my guess why is blackmail.....he was gonna hold it over her head to keep her from doing it again and threaten to tell belos.
But kiki quickly tells he LET the pailsman get away since he was the one to fight her (Curse his cute loose hair strand). So i guess now they have dirt on each other, so that’s fun.
His room is adorable, though the med kit by the bed is concerning.
Rascal comes for him and it;s so cute....though you can tell hunter nearly hurts him on instinct because of force of habit, but it’s so cute how he cares and how the birb loves him and is his new staff.
it was well hinted to as well, it’s so subtle, but the bird being cheery, curious, and his constant habit of escaping boundaries was perfect for hunter. He represents what hunter wants to be and why they got matched is done so well, all without explaining anything.
Hunter indirectly stated his deepest wish, to make his own choices, and rascal resonated with that.
can’t wait to see where this goes.
great ending shot, love me some conflicted shots looking out of windows like trapped birds.
also this title was a pun the whole time i can’t-

Fic Recs (cause it's always nice to give a shout out and get people into things I'm into rn)
[The Magnus Archives] (I recently finished the podcast and I fell into a hole for a while so here you go)
Sing a Song of Sixpence by Kaiel
Ship: Jon/Martin
In which Jonathan Sims is a Siren, and he fails to notice any new abilities granted to him by the position of Archivist. Or really anything about the Entities at all.
Takes place in season 1 featuring Jonah Magnus’s slow decent into madness
(The new mythology interwoven with tma's worldbuilding is so freaking good and I love how all the characters change and develop because of these changes. Also, f you Elias)
Along Came a Spider by Dribbledscribbles
Ship: implied Jon/Martin
Sasha James is the Archivist, as expected. Martin Blackwood is menaced by Jane Prentiss, as expected. Elias Bouchard weaves his web, as expected.
All goes as it should.
At least until something calling itself Jonathan Sims steps in.
(Web!Jon in this makes me want to weep, it's so freaking good. A pretty long, very excellent oneshot on what could've happened if Jon got taken by the web when he was a kid. And Sasha as the Archivist is ALWAYS so cool, we love her in this house.)
A Break in the Clouds by Ash_Rabbit
“I’m eight.” the kid sniffs as if eight was any different from four, maybe not an unspeakable horror then, just a regular horror. “And I heard that the Magnus Institute deals with-” his little nose scrunches, cute. “-spooky things.”
“Do you have a-” he cracks a grin, and then rethinks it as small hands tighten against their burden.”-spooky thing to deliver?” gods he hopes not, it’s bad enough when adults walk in and lay out all of their baggage, but for a child-
“There’s a spider in this book.” the kid says solemnly, raising his textbook sized parcel. “It ate Evan Pritchard.” a bloody fucking Leitner. Of course an eight year old would find a murder spider book. “This seemed like the best place to bring it.”
(I never thought about what the Original Elias could've been like AND NOW I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT BECAUSE OF THIS FIC. I LOVE HIM, HE'S COMPLEX AND HE CARES AND JON CARES AND THEY BOTH CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER. THIS IS THE CONTENT I WANT, OMG. Also, Jon being even smaller than usual is adorable, so cute. No wonder Elias wants to hug him, a LOT.)
See the Line where the Sky meets the Sea by The_Floating_World
Ship: Jon/Martin, Jon/Oliver Banks
When Jon is a child he looks into the infinite abyss of space. The Vast looks back into him.
(One of my all time fave fics in this fandom, no questions asked. I have reread this three times and am open to doing it again, god. Vast!Jon, such a concept. It's written so beautifully and the relationships Jon develops, so good. ugh. My heart. Please please read.)
Sweet As Roses by Prim_the_Amazing
Ship: Jon/Martin
“Come in, Martin,” he says, not looking up from his notes.
“Hi, Jon,” he says, and Jon stops writing at the sound of his voice. “We’re out of the green tea, but we’ve got lemon?”
Jon looks at him. Martin smiles at him in his usual tentative way as he sets the mug of tea down on Jon’s desk. Heat spikes so sharply in his gut that he twitches with it.
“Thank you, Martin,” he says, mouth dry, and he stands up.
“Oh,” he says, sounding almost surprised. He smiles again. “No-- no problem-- um, what are you--”
Jon takes Martin by the shoulders, leans up on the tips of his toes, and kisses him.
(You have no idea how much I howled through this fic, my god. *buries face in hands* The number of times I wanted to cry from sheer hilarity and horror reading this good lord.)
Things Could Always Be Worse by theOestofOCs
Ship: Jon/Martin, Georgie/Melanie
Sometimes, the most horrifying thing of all is what might have been.
Somewhere, Jon could swear he heard a crowd laughing.
Or: in which Jonathan Sims is forced to swap places with his alternate self—a tall, chivalrous hero extraordinaire, who knows neither fear nor nuance—and is sent to the aggressively straight alternate universe the Magnus Archives was never meant to be.
“Whatever place this is,” Jon announced, “I just want to be sure it knows I hate it.”
(I will say this once, THIS IS THE MOST CURSED THING IVE EVER READ EVER. Like holy hell. I can't believe this thing exists. please read it oh please please please)
-
[Supernatural]
heard from your mother (she don't recognize you) by Schmuzz
Ship: Dean/Cas, Jessica/Sam
A man named Cas wakes up in 2003 with no memories, but he's able to piece together a few things:
1. Supernatural creatures exist, and most of them will hurt innocent civilians if he doesn't stop them; 2. He has abilities that no human hunter should have, but he knows enough about human hunters to keep that to himself, and finally; 3. He keeps running into another hunter named Dean Winchester, who seems to be about as lonely as he is if he's willing to put up with those former facts long enough to help Cas unravel the mystery of who (or what) he really is.
For his part, Dean's still (not) dealing with Sam's departure to Stanford, and figures distracting himself with a bit of mystery and intrigue is as harmless as it gets, right? Right.
(THE fic I'm most into right now, been following this from the very start and it's AMAZING. Cas has agency and is making friends and S1 Dean is growing out of John's influence and is becoming a Person and the both of them first being friends then more. The slow burn as their relationship develops, SO GOOD. SO SO DAMN GOOD. *screams* Seriously one of the best spn fics I've read in a long, long time.)
anamnesis by cenotaphy
Ships: Castiel/Dean, Sam/Eileen
Chuck is depowered, Jack is the new god, and the world is free. Dean and Sam get into the Impala and chase down the miles on an endless highway, and their story is finally, finally their own to follow. At least, that's what Dean tells himself. But the diners and motels and painted interstate lines are blurring together and the smallest details keep catching at his brain like tiny fishhooks and he can't quite shake the feeling that not everything is exactly as it should be.
* Fix-it/alternate series finale. Canon-compliant through the end of 15.19.
(THIS IS THE FIC THAT GOT ME THROUGH THE FINALE OKAY. WHY COULDN'T THIS HAVE BEEN CANON. It's Disturbing and honestly plot-wise this makes more sense. Why couldn't we have had this. *screams*)
-
[Avatar: The Last Airbender]
where the stars do not take sides by WitchofEndor
Ship: Sokka/Zuko
When Azula is nine, she becomes an only child. She hears the Fire Lord call for Zuko's life, and in the morning, her mother and brother are gone. Azula may be young, but she isn't naive. She knows what happened to them.
Which makes it all the more surprising when Azula tracks the Avatar down and fights his group of peasant friends, only to find herself staring into an eerily familiar face.
(The fact one of the tags in this fic is, "Sibling Dynamic: Fucked Up But Wholesome" should give you an idea what this fic is like. Chaotic as HELL and I just love Azula here, she loves Zuko so much in her messed up way and Zuko loves her back in the exact same way lol. It's batshit and I am Here For This.)
-
[Naruto]
Eclipse by AislingRoisin (JayBird345) for HybrisAnaideia
Ship: Nara Shikaku/OFC
"In life, it's easier to remain stagnant and wallow in your troubles. But life isn't merely about continued existence, nor is it meant to be gone through alone."
(This is a fic that's slept on and I NEED people to read this. A self-insert fic that I find really interesting in its approach and the worldbuilding for the post-third war shinobi world is fantastic. I feel like there's a certain pattern with self-insert fics, not that is a detriment in any way to how much I enjoy them, so this fic feels fresh to me in a way I haven't read in a while. I am waiting eagerly for this to get updated! Please read!)
On Freedom and Other Formalities by iaso
Ship: Kakashi/Genma/OFC
When push comes to shove, Hiwa Inuzuka doesn't go down easy. Reborn into a new, dangerous world? She puts her past life as a spy to work. Thrown into a war? Hiwa does her duty, for Konoha. And when she's forced into an arranged marriage? All there is to do is beat them to the punch and get married first. Thankfully, Genma Shiranui is willing to lend a hand. Literally. SI/OC
(Listen, LISTEN, it's about the slow burn, the longing, the communication (it both has and hasn't and isn't THAT great??), the messy way you fit three very different people together, it's so freaking good! Also, Kakashi is so Chaotic here this is my fave characterization of him, you can't change my mind. And Genma is a Good Boi who is Doing His Best, along with the Self-insert character who I LOVE SO MUCH, SHE'S FANTASTIC FNEIWOPAF. Sped past this fic in the speed of light, I could not stop reading!)(Honestly, read all of the author's fics, they're all really REALLY good!)
Building a Castle by WhisperingDarkness
Without needing anyone to tell her, Sakura knew that talking to someone no-one else could see or hear would make her weird. It would draw the bad kind of attention to her, something people could make fun of her for.
She didn’t like being weird, but she did like the voice. Her inner voice was helpful and it was a part of her that had always been there. The idea of it not being there would have been so much weirder than anything else.
It was during her first year at the Academy that Sakura realised the voice was not in her head at all, but that it came from a cloudy shape floating next to her.
(Basically a short-ish retelling of Hikaru no Go. Only with more Shogi and Nara and Ninja's)
(Sakura can see ghosts (I'm noticing this is a popular trope for her) and it's really cute haha! Her relationship with Tobirama is sweet and I just enjoyed reading this so much.)
-
[The Magicians]
So Long (And Thanks For All The Books) by IncompleteSentanc (Erava)
Ships: Quentin/Eliot, James/Julia, Quentin/Margo/Eliot
When Quentin is told Julia wasn't admitted to Brakebills, he realizes he has a drastic decision in front of him. If he tells Julia about magic, he'll have his mind wiped as well as hers. But he can't just leave her behind, either. He can't lose his best friend, and he can't let her life a life with her magical potential stolen away from her.
So he makes a third choice.
(Really, and I mean REALLY well-done canon divergent fic, this is the Quentin & Julia friendship fic I have been looking for forever. It explores so much of what could've happened and I just love Quentin here, I really really do. Characterization done so right. I also recommend the author's other works too. Been a follower of them for a long time, they're great.)
-
[Game of Thrones]
The Road to Victory by writing_as_tracey
Too late in preparing for the Night King and the Long Night, the last stand at Winterfell is close to falling. Bran takes desperate measures to ensure victory, and Jon, Sansa, and Arya pay the price for it in a time unfamiliar to them, on the cusp of another war. [GoT, time-travel fix it]
(I swear, this fic made me laugh so many times, all the Stark are BAMF and fantastic, and Rhaegar gets Wrecked lol. It's crack btw, and the plot goes in directions you'll never guess and it's amazing hahaha!)
-
[Haikyuu!!] (I am very very late to the fandom but here I am)
Ballare (To Dance) by MidnightSparks
Ship: Iwaizumi Hajime/Kageyama Tobio/Oikawa Tooru, and platonic Kageyama & Kentarou (really love their friendship)
Kageyama’s first love is volleyball. His second, however, is ballet.
In one world, Kageyama Tobio is left behind by his parents. In this world, the existence of soulbonds keeps Kageyama’s parents in Miyagi and leaves Kageyama in the care of his grandma and grandpa.
(In which soulmates exist and that changes everything and nothing at the same time.)
(*buries face in hands* I have fallen for this ship so hard and I can't get out fudge me. I understand now. Their DYNAMICS FIEWONPAF)
Kings of Tomorrow by bokubroya (liarielle)
Ship: Kageyama Tobio/Oikawa Tooru
On the eve of Tobio’s 16th birthday, he counts down the seconds to midnight, and emerges with Oikawa Tooru’s name on his wrist.
It’s been two years since then, and Tobio thought they had an understanding. A silent, never spoken about understanding that this thing between them is nothing, and they’re going to pretend it doesn’t exist.
Of course, it’s just like Oikawa to change the game and leave Tobio wondering what comes next.
(I am WEAK for soulmate fics between these two, I don't even really like soulmate fics half the times what is WRONG WITH ME-)(Please suffer with me, I'm begging you. Its a good fic, thumbs up.)

[Crossover]
Honey and Magic by JustARatherVerySillyWriter, White_Squirrel for Super Carlin Brothers
Fandoms: Matilda (yeah you read that right), Harry Potter
Everyone knew Matilda was a rather extraordinary child, but even she didn't know she was a witch. Matilda Honey receives her Hogwarts letter in the year of the Triwizard Tournament, and soon, she will leave her unique mark on the magical world.
(Do I even need to explain how amazing it is to have Matilda in the wizarding world? And Matilda is a HUFFLEPUFF AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL THIS FIC IS GREAT PLEASE READ!!!)
An Eye for an Eye by DpsMercy
Fandoms: The Magnus Archives, Welcome to Night Vale
In which Jonathan Sims is not from the UK but instead, if you took his origins and turned them sideways twice then flipped them over, he technically would be from the US, the town of Night Vale specifically. Elias can’t do shit about it and gets a headache and slowly creeping madness instead.
(Look, I know probably everyone has read this because if they haven't, what have you been DOING with your lives??? Jon interning at Night Vale is Incredible, nothing phases this man, it's Delightful. I laughed so many times reading this, I'm not even kidding right now. Read or perish.)
The Favour by R_Cookie
Fandoms: Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Ship: Original Percival Graves/Harry Potter
Percival is ten years old when his grandfather tries to tell him that he's ensured the greatness of the Graves legacy for him, that he ought to be eternally grateful - but the explanation is hijacked by a stranger who manages to intimidate Chester Graves with an ease never seen before.
or: Hadrian (Harry) Potter is the Master of Death, who grants Graves a boon. Nobody could have known that the Deathly Hallows didn't turn you so much into the 'Master of Death' as into the anthropomorphic personification of Death. And so, Death becomes Percival's guardian angel, and Percival does not spit out his cereal.
(Look, I don't know how I stumbled back into the FBAWTFT fandom either, it just happened and I'm grateful for that. Otherwise, I wouldn't have found this amazing fic. Their relationship is slow and strange and I just love how Percival is characterized here. Also, one of the tag promises that it deviates from canon so I am really, really excited for that! XD)

Okay so Tumblr hates me today and just deleted my response to an ask from @armins-bowl-cut :( but anyways they requested a Levi x Reader where he is insecure and thinks that he isn’t good enough for his partner/is everything she doesn’t want but she reassures him. Hope y’all are having a great day and enjoy this one shot loves!! <3
Parings: Levi x fem!Reader
Genre: Fluff, fluff, fluff
Words: 2k
Summary: Everyone get insecure and needs reassurance, even Humanity’s Strongest </3
You and the Captain had been together for quite some time now. True, you’ve had trials and tribulations, ups and downs, but the two of you had grown quite close after the loss of his squad about a year back. You could recall those days as easily as you could recite your own name. Every so often, you’d catch yourself daydreaming about those first moments you had shared with the seemingly otherworldly raven-haired man.
The rest of your squad always made jokes about the old grump, all which stemmed from their own inability to approach those intimidating charcoal eyes. Even before you and Levi had been together, you admired him in a way you suspected no one else did. While everyone else was concerned with poking at his compulsive cleaning habits or hard-ass attitude in training sessions, you found yourself wondering when those steely eyes would so much as flick to yours. Maybe that’s what had drawn him to you as well. The other cadets always looked so uncomfortable in his presence, but not you. You didn’t cower or avert your gaze when his eyes studied yours; you were never one to break eye contact when his roaming gaze found you across the mess hall at meal times. Instead, you would always offer him a small smile. The first time you smiled at him rattled him more than he would have liked to admit. Who is this brat? He would think to himself, unbeknownst to the two of you that small smiles and glances in passing would have the power to flourish into a relationship so wholesome that neither of you thought you deserved happiness such as this in a world such as yours.
Though never spoken, it had become routine for you to spend most nights with Levi. You loved that about your relationship; some things just did not need to be said. The two of you had a silent understanding and there was never any need to fill comfortable gaps of quiet with unnecessary chatter. You took comfort in the nights where long after Levi had thought you were encased in your own dreams, he would still lay with you, even if his own thoughts prevented him from finding his way into slumber.
However, you started noticing that more and more your captain would eventually carefully slide his arms from around your waist. It was almost every night now, that the sudden cold assault on the exposed skin of your torso would pull you from a dream just enough that you were able to feel the bed dip and bounce back when Levi would get up and drag himself to his desk. For weeks, you pretended to sleep, but watched him through the spidery veil of your eyelashes as he worked tirelessly through the night, occasionally stopping to brew tea or rest his forehead on the heels of his palms, sometimes clutching strands of his ebony locks between his fingers. Your heart clenched inside your chest each time you watched him. You tried to send affirmations of love and comfort to him telepathically, and each night you politely asked the universe to grant your lover some sort of release from the grasp that he was helpless in. You wanted to tell him all this, but you knew it would do more harm than good. He would come to you when he was ready. And so you waited. Each night you told yourself that this would be the night he didn’t untangle himself from your embrace, or that this would be the night he confided in you about all the guilt and anger he was engulfed in. Each night you grew more disappointed when you realized that would not be the case.
After weeks of repeated let downs, you couldn’t stop your mind from settling into a negative haze. You began to think that maybe Levi no longer wanted you, and he was trying to spare your feelings through avoidance. You decided that it would be better for both of your sakes if you stayed in your own room for a night. You meant to tell Levi of your intentions, but you weren’t able to find him all day and between a hectic day of training and paperwork, it slipped your mind as you continued with your own work. You busied yourself into the wee hours of the night with tedious little things; anything to give your mind a break from the constant paranoia and speculation. Figuring it had to be well past 2am, your thoughts migrated to darker places than the paperwork you had buried yourself in previously. Why hasn’t he come to see me? Did he even notice I was gone? We haven’t properly talked in almost 2 days. . .
The more you allowed your mind to fester with frustration, confusion and anger, the more heated you became. At some point, all your thoughts bubbled over and your temper was that of boiling water splashing onto a burning element. It moved and sizzled in you until you couldn’t stand it anymore. You stood forcefully, chair scraping loudly on the stone floor. Your strides to his office were long and purposeful. Your knuckles cried in protest at the three solid knocks you rapped on his door. No answer. You knocked again. Nothing. Feeling brave, you tried turning the knob, and to your surprise found no resistance. Stepping into the small space, your eyes immediately landed on the hunched back of Levi sleeping over various scattered papers. You cocked your head for a better view of his cheeks squished into a distorted yet peaceful expression. The sight before you had a cooling effect on your hot anger from before. You told yourself that speaking to him could wait. As annoyed as you were, you could never tear him from the rare and valuable bouts of sleep he was able to find. You turned on your heel and headed for the door, careful not to wake him. Hand twisting the knob, you froze at the sound from behind you.
“Y/n,” his voice called out to you, low and raspy.
“Sorry, did I wake you?” you turned back around to see him standing to face you. He didn’t offer a response other than a simple dismissal of your disturbance to his sleep with a casual wave of his hand.
After some silence, and against your better judgement, you spoke again: “I didn’t think you had noticed I was gone.”
“Why wouldn’t I notice? Do you take me for an idiot, y/n?” he raised one thin eyebrow at you, the sleepy haze now gone from his eyes.
“No, sorry. I just . . . you didn’t come to talk to me at all today,” you confessed, fingers picking nervously at the ends of your nails. If you weren’t looking down at your hands you would have caught his eyes widen ever so slightly.
“I didn’t come to you because I thought you wanted to be left alone. You’ve been quiet lately,” he observed.
“Me? What about you? You think I don’t notice that every night for the past few weeks you’ve been leaving the bed? You think I don’t notice the way you look at me differently? Do you take me for an idiot, Levi?” you used his own words against him, admittedly sounding a little more venomous than you had intended. At this, his eyes widened further, confirming your suspicions. “I knew it,” you continued, “there is something different between us. Why can’t you just tell me instead of leading me on for the sake of my feelings?” you asked, beginning to become angry again.
“What the hell are you talking about? Leading you on,” he scoffed, frustration now creeping into his tone as well.
“I can’t really think of another reason you’d be avoiding me other than the fact that you no longer want to be with me and are sparing my feelings,” you said, crossing your arms over your chest defiantly.
“Y/n, you are a fucking idiot,” Levi stated, shaking his head in disbelief. When he raised his eyes to lock with yours again, you almost gasped when you saw pools of emotion swimming in the usually stoic man’s eyes.
“Well then tell me what’s going on Levi. Let me be there for you,” you hesitantly wrapped your fingers around his wrist in a comforting gesture. After a few minutes of painful silence, you heard him draw in a shaky breath.
“I just want to be more for you. Here I am, Humanity’s Strongest, and I can barely be a good partner to you. I see you and your smile lights up any room you walk into. You’re like the sun. You radiate goodness. I am like the black hole in the corner that sucks all the happiness out of a room. I’m just a grumpy old man who is plagued by memories and haunted by the fact that everyone I care about is eventually ripped from me. I am the opposite of you and I am everything that you don’t need,” the words spilled from his mouth. His voice was no longer a bored monotone, but was overflowing with all the unspoken and buried emotions and insecurities he had shouldered for so long. Your heart felt like it was about to burst. Despite all this, you could help but release a breathy laugh of relief. “What?” he asked defensively, annoyance flooding into his tone at you laughing at him.
“Nothing, I’m just so relieved,” another giggle slipped past your lips. “Levi, look at me,” you cupped both your hands on each of his cheeks and urged him to fix his downcast gaze on yours. “You are everything to me. Got it? I don’t care if you’re an old grump, because you’re my old grump. I have admired you since the first day we met and that is not about to change.” You gave your wrists a tiny shake to add further impact to your words. A small smile graced your lips when you watched the meaning of your confession slowly seep its way into Levi’s eyes, like honey being drizzled over a spoon. “Look,” it was your turn to look at the ground, cheeks heating up as a blush crept across them, “I love you, you dumbass. Okay? So, next time lean on me. I want to be here for you too, like you are for me,” your eyes snapped back up to meet his. There was a light shining behind those dark orbs that said much more to you than his words ever could.
“Y/n . . .” Levi tugged at your wrist, pulling you in and enveloping you in his strong embrace. He pressed the side of his cheek to the top of your head, inhaling your comforting scent. “Thank you,” he sighed. “I love you too.” At this, you smiled, feeling your cheek press into the stiff material of his uniform. “But,” he continued in a lighter tone, “If you ever call your Captain a dumbass again, I’m putting you on stable duty for a week.” You giggled, taking joy in the sensation of feeling his chest rumbling against you as he offered a small chuckle.
“Okay old man, let’s get you into bed. You need sleep,” you joked, backing away and landing a soft punch on his arm.
The two of you climbed into bed once again as you had many, many times before. Only this time, you took comfort in the feeling of being encased in his arms the whole night, your hearts once again full.

Could You Shut The Door? (Newt Scamander)
Pairing: Newt Scamander x FemReader
Warnings: Not smut... but almost. A very shy Newt, and I think that’s it?
Summary: An excited Newt barges into your room and quickly becomes a very nervous Newt who got quite the eyeful.
A/N: So this will turn into smut, I just started typing and it started to get lengthy so I figured I’d turn it into a 2 parter. Hopefully this isn’t too OOC and that’s about it! Let us know if there’s anyone else in the HP-verse that you’d like to see in a similar situation or a more wholesome one 😂 - S
(Y/N) had always been close with the Scamander’s. Her family lived right down the street for years, so she’d grown up with Theseus and Newt. And given the fact that their parents were close as well it was no surprise that she would stay with the Scamander’s for a few nights. In fact, they would be taking her to King’s Cross to board the Hogwarts Express in three days time.
What was surprising was the scene that Newt was beholding. He hadn’t meant to just barge into the room that (Y/N) was staying in; he had been just so excited about spotting the fairy they were trying to lure into the garden that he completely forgot about the concept of knocking. As excitable as he had been to come running into her room, Newt now stood frozen and wide-eyed. (Y/N) stood before him in nothing but what seemed like a smaller than average towel.
Newt didn’t mean to gawk, but he found himself unable to do anything else. (Y/N) was cut from a different cloth than Newt, she seemed to be completely un-phased by the situation, “Umm Newt would you mind just coming in and shutting the door behind you?”
Newt followed the instructions she had laid before him, although he felt like he was doing something wrong she seemed so calm. “So what has you so excited this evening, Newt?”
Newt knew that if his face wasn’t already red that it certainly was now. It wouldn’t be a lie if he were to admit he had harbored a crush on his childhood friend for a few years now, and Newt wasn’t stupid he could see that there were times he let his nervous nature shine through. However, (Y/N) and Newt were pretty much the best of friends and he didn’t usually feel shy around the girl. Now however he was having a hard time even forming a single word, “I- I.. um I mean- I saw a f-fairy in the garden.”
“Seriously?! Is it still out there?! We have to go check!” (Y/N) grabbed Newt’s hand, her towel slipping ever so slightly. One of the reasons Newt found her so alluring was her shared love for creatures, of course he couldn’t really recall many of those reasons at the moment. Only the ones on display in front of him.
Newt grabbed her other hand before she was able to swing the door open. “You’re... not dressed.” He felt weird having to remind the girl. How could she forget? Or at least not care... it was entirely odd.
“Oh! Sorry, that would definitely be embarrassing.” (Y/N) chuckled thinking about how disastrous the situation could’ve been. “Your mum, dad and Theseus seeing me naked would definitely not be appropriate.”
“What about me?” Newt managed to squeak out.
She felt terrible. Clearly the poor boy was about to faint and she remained oblivious to it until he brought it up. Something about Newt always put her at ease, she couldn’t ever think of a moment around him that she had ever felt embarrassed or insecure. Except for this one where the thought crossed her mind that she had been taking the comfort he provided her for granted. “I’m sorry. I didn’t realize... and that sounds stupid. I should’ve! Of course this would bother you!”
As strange as he found (Y/N) being at ease, he didn’t much prefer her feeling uncomfortable. “I’m not bothered- I just- I mean- you’re... and I’m... I can’t help but- I’ve kinda- please make me shut up.”
They were definitely close enough for (Y/N) to know what was going on. She’d had suspicions that he returned her feelings, but she also knew of other classmates he was close with so she hadn’t wanted to assume. Of course there was probably no hope of their relationship returning to innocent, oblivious friendship. In a moment of bravery, she released his hands and dropped her towel.
Newt felt himself swallow loudly and he swore he his heart was beating so fast that he could hear the thumping in his ears. He kept his eyes locked on hers, it was quite difficult to do. He asked her to shut him up and boy did she. “You can look, Newt.”
He still hesitated for a moment, afraid it might be a trap or a dream (he’d had similar ones before). But soon his resolve broke and he looked (Y/N) up and down. He was 17 years old and he wasn’t stupid, he definitely thought about this, he just prided himself on being a gentleman enough to push those fantasies to the depths of his mind. She was gorgeous though, every inch of her exposed to him, it was hard to keep those thoughts at bay now.
“I’m hoping your silence is approval.”
“Merlin, yes...” he didn’t know if he could come up with a coherent sentence, “Can I...”
She smiled and nodded. He thanked the heavens up above that she wouldn’t make him finish; he wasn’t sure he could handle it. His hands reached out for hers slowly and she chuckled when he paused again. Newt frowned slightly, he wasn’t sure what she expected from him. This was a lot to process... he wasn’t as brave or outgoing and she was (that was probably why she was sorted into Gryffindor much to his dismay). Feeling disheartened by the laugh his grip on her hands loosened a bit, he was all but ready to drop them completely and retreat to his room or to a cold shower one.
(Y/N) meant nothing by the chuckle other than her fondness over his demeanor. Feeling his semblance of confidence wavering, (Y/N) dropped his hands and before Newt even had a moment to feel disappointed she had grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled him down so she could kiss him. Newt had always been rather tall and lanky, especially compared to her so while she would’ve preferred not resorting to drastic measures like yanking his clothes it was really the only way.
Newt hadn’t minded the assertiveness after all, in fact it was comforting. He melted into her kiss and found himself unintentionally moving closer. Newt had kissed a girl before, but this was definitely different. The way she moved her lips against his was a different sensation than he’d experienced before and it was all that he could do to keep up with her and he only tore away from her when it was physically necessary to breathe.
“I’m sorry... I’m not... I haven’t had a lot of practice.” Newt admitted hesitantly, but he felt he owed her an explanation. He didn’t want to disappoint her.
“Well if that’s the case, you’re a natural Mr. Scamander.” (Y/N) offered up a reassuring smile. “Although, is if you’d like more practice we could-“
“Yes!” His cheeks reddened at his own outburst, but he smiled cheekily at her.
“You know it’d be much easier if you’d sit down. You’re a bit tall.” She led him to the bed where he sat on the edge. Newt glanced to the side where he expected her to sit beside him, but his breath got caught in his throat when she placed herself on top of him. For the first time he thought he may have seen her second guess herself, “Is this alright?”
Unable to speak again Newt just nodded lamely. He hoped that he wasn’t making her feel like she was pushing him into something he didn’t want to do. Of course she was pushing him a little, but into something he definitely wanted. This was something he imagined quite a few nights, of course in his dreams he wasn’t acting nearly as pathetic. With (Y/N) sitting literally on top of him there surely wasn’t a way she couldn’t feel that he definitely approved of her straddling him, but just in case he willed himself to not act so afraid. Newt placed his hands onto her waist.
It wasn’t quite as forward as he could’ve been, but she was dealing with Newt Scamander, the sweetest and shyest person she knew. She smiled and reconnected their mouths. Newt seemed a little more at ease this time, as strange as it sounded it was it did seem quite natural for his lips to be moving against hers. They just seemed to move in sync, occasionally their tongues would brush and her teeth scrape his lips making his grip on her waist tighten. He was prepared to apologize for the pressure, but when she broke away she attached her lips to his neck and the only thing he could do in retaliation was dig his fingers into her flesh further. She shifted her hips slightly to get better access, when she did so Newt could help but let out a small moan. (Y/N)‘s lips twitched into a smile against his skin. “Newt, your parents are downstairs. We should be quiet... I mean if you want to continue?”

You’re unsure of how you got to where you are now—well, actually, you know how; you hadn’t seen Tsukishima in person in over a week because the two of you had been busy with your own respective schedules and quite frankly, you missed him. Of course, you’d chosen not to tell him simply due to the fact that he’d tease you about it to no end, but at least you’re honest with yourself.
Your mind is racing a mile a minute, thoughts jumbled into a big mess inside your head as you feel Tsukishima’s tongue swipe across your bottom lip, prompting you to part them to grant him access. The familiar warmth of his tongue tangling with yours is fueled by an unfamiliar eagerness coming from your otherwise patient boyfriend and you start to feel comforted by the fact that he seems to have missed you just as much.
The night had started out innocent enough; you’d both agreed to go out for dinner, but changed your minds when rain started pouring with thunder booming, leading the two of you to simply make dinner for yourselves at your apartment and watch a movie in your room, though you were sure you wouldn’t end up watching much of it.
You hadn’t been expecting your roommate to announce that she was going to go out tonight with a high chance that she wasn’t going to come home in the middle of your movie, leaving your typically shared apartment all to yourself tonight. Well, by the looks of how things seemed to be going, it was all to you and Tsukishima.
Honestly, you’re nervous; the farthest you’ve gone with Tsukishima was just the occasional heated above-the-neck kissing with curious hands every so often, despite having been dating for several months now.
The shift of Tsukishima laying you down on your bed as he moves to hover over you pulls you back into reality and you feel the bed dip beside your head where he’s placed his elbow to keep himself propped up in order to avoid crushing you.
“I’ve missed you,” he mutters so softly against your lips that you almost miss it. You open your mouth to say something back but feel your thoughts muddle back up when his lips trail over your jaw, his free hand coming up to hold the back of your head, tilting it at an angle so he could get better access to your now-exposed neck. Your eyes flutter shut as he leaves a trail of kisses on your skin, occasionally nipping on particularly sensitive areas.
“I’ve missed you too,” you finally sigh after a few moments of savoring the feeling of him on you. You feel his lips smirk against your skin and part of you wants to follow up with something snarky but you’re unable to think of anything as his lips gently suck on your pulse point, causing your breath to hitch.
You lift your own hands to tug on his hair and pull him back up, slotting your lips against his with more heat than your previous kiss. The bed dips between your legs and you feel Tsukishima’s leg brush against yours, further stabilizing himself. His hand that had been holding your head ghosts over the side of your face and traces down your neck to your collarbone, a slight hesitation before it moves down your side and rests on the underside of your right breast.
“We don’t have to continue if you don’t want to,” says Tsukishima as he pulls away, albeit slightly out of breath. You look up at him and see his pupils are slightly blown and his cheeks have tinted the slightest bit pink.
“I didn’t tell you to stop,” you can feel your own face flushing as Tsukishima smirks, his demeanor suddenly more confident, especially in his actions.
“Well, if that’s the case,” his voice trails off as he sits up. You watch him with curious anticipation before he lifts his shirt and pulls it over his head in one swift motion. He adjusts his glasses as he tosses his shirt aside and something about the whole ordeal has you blushing.
Tsukishima bends to kiss you and tugs at your shirt as you sit yourself up slightly so that he can pull it off and toss it in the same direction as his own now-forgotten shirt. As he lays you back down, you feel a warmth in your stomach that spreads through your veins and heats your skin.
His lips are quick to find yours again but only for a brief moment as he leaves another string of kisses on your jaw and nibbles at your ear. His hand rounds your breast and gives it a slight squeeze through your bra before pushing the material down slightly and grabbing at the exposed flesh. He pinches your nipple between his slender fingers, and you let out a soft hiss at the feeling. Tsukishima moves his lips down to your chest and you watch as he pushes the bra down completely, exposing your bare chest to him. He captures a nipple between his lips and swirls his tongue while his hand continues to harden the other one by pinching and rolling it between his thumb and index finger. You arch your back and reach under yourself to unhook the bra, sliding the straps off your arms and tossing it to be another forgotten article of clothing on your bedroom floor.
Tsukishima begins to move further down slowly, leaving a wet trail of kisses down your stomach. His hands slide down your sides as he does so, moving them around to your thighs once he’s nestled himself between them. You watch with your lower lip between your teeth as his eyes glance upwards at you. His thumbs hook onto the waistband of your shorts and you lift your hips to let him slip them off of you.
Just as the tip of Tsukishima’s fingers ghost over your panties, lightning flashes through your window, followed by a delayed clap of thunder, causing you to flinch in surprise. Tsukishima pauses all movements and his darkened eyes look at you with concern, fearing that you’re reacting this way to him.
“I’m okay,” you say, propping yourself up on your elbows to look at him with a slight smile. He nods wordlessly, his eyes training on a particularly dark spot in the center of your panties. You move to close your legs in embarrassment, but Tsukishima’s hands push them back apart. He swipes his finger from the bottom up against the dampened fabric and smirks.
“Someone’s a little excited, hm?”
“I—” A gasp interrupts you as you feel Tsukishima presses his finger flat against your slit. Tsukishima’s eyes meet yours and you can feel your face practically burning.
His lips quirk into a mischievous grin as he tugs your panties off, leaving you completely bare in front of him. You kick them off your feet and can’t resist the slight embarrassment and insecurities creep up on you. You want to say something but feel all your thoughts and concerns fizzle away as Tsukishima leans in and kisses your thigh, dangerously close to your wetness. You shiver and feel his finger prodding your folds open before pressing his tongue inside. You gasp and curl your toes at the feeling of his warm tongue as he laps his tongue. The lewd noises coming from him are drowned out by the moans and mewls coming from your lips as you look down at him. He locks eyes with you and can feel yourself becoming even more aroused.
“Mm,” he hums softly against you as he sucks on your clit, inserting a single long finger inside of you. You bite your lip as you do your best to not be too loud—despite the apartment being empty, you’re aware of how thin the walls are between you and your neighbors.
However, that all goes out the window when Tsukishima inserts a second finger and you can’t help but cry out in pleasure. His long fingers reach further than your own ever could and you can feel yourself sprinting towards your climax faster than you’d like to admit. Why is he so good at this?
You move your arm and reach over to grip his hair, raking your nails on his scalp. You can’t help but roll your hips against him, matching his rhythm.
“Tsu… Tsukki, I’m going cum,” you whimper weakly as your other hand grips tightly at the covers.
You’re unsure if he can’t hear you or if he simply chooses to ignore you, but you clench around his fingers and arch your back, moaning as you hit your climax, doing your best to not simply crush Tsukishima’s head between your thighs.
After a few moments, Tsukishima lifts his head, his lips and chin practically glistening in your arousal. He removes his fingers as you lay there, trying to steady your breathing and you watch as he lifts his fingers to his mouth, sucking them clean of you. He climbs back over you and kisses you, enabling you to taste remnants of yourself on his tongue. You feel something prodding your stomach and you’re suddenly made very aware that he’s still half clothed and has not been able to have any kind of release yet. Your hands are quick to move down and blindly attempt at undoing his belt buckle, struggling for only a moment before he reaches a hand down to help you. Once the buckle becomes undone, you unbutton his pants and tug at them to pull them down.
He pulls away again and sits up, reaching into his back pocket. He pulls out his wallet and you watch him curiously as he opens it and pulls out a square packet. He sets it aside and moves to take off his jeans. His boxers are quick to follow, and you blush upon seeing his length for the first time, feeling yourself already recovering from your first orgasm.
“You know, it’s not very polite to stare,” he teases, and you snap your eyes back up at him.
“I wasn’t staring,” you grumble as you watch him take off his glasses, leaning over to place them down on your bedside table. He moves back to where he was and tears the condom wrapper open with his teeth, discarding the wrapper haphazardly away. You sit up and pluck the condom from his fingers, biting your lip shyly as you feel his eyes on you. You can’t help but feel slightly intimidated by his length and girth, although you’re also undeniably excited and the wetness pooling between your legs is visual proof of it.
You roll the condom onto him and hear a shaky sigh escape him. Once the condom is completely on, you look up at him and he’s quick to kiss you again, laying you down. You’re almost pouting when he pulls away, but quickly forget it as he sits up and grips himself at your entrance, circling and positioning himself for you. You look down and watch as he slowly pushes into you, struggling to catch your own breath as he stretches you open—his fingers seemed to have been nothing in comparison to the real thing.
You don’t realize your mouth is hanging open until you have to close it in order to hold back your loud cries and whimpers. Your legs find themselves locked around his waist and you can see his eyes flutter closed, his own lips parted from pleasure. He leans back down over you, his palms on either side of your forehead to keep himself supported and once he’s completely inside, he lets out a shuddered groan. Your fingers grip his strong forearms, wanting to hold onto something tangible that’ll keep you from drifting completely off into bliss from the sensation of being so full. He’s quick to bury his face in your neck, staying still for a moment before he moves to pull out. Just as you’re about to whine for him to not pull out so far, he pushes back into you and you moan. He rolls his hips as he begins to repeat the process, earning several cries from you and he lifts his head to capture your lips with his.
“Fuck…” he mutters softly against your lips. You feel another fire burning in your stomach, which is only fueled when he shifts and hooks an arm under one of your legs, pushing it up and shifting his angle. Your toes curl and your back arches as he presses his lips with a newfound passion, swallowing your moans as you wrap your arms around his neck.
You feel the way he’s dragging himself against your tight walls, noticing his movements and kisses to grow sloppier as he continues to move his hips. You angle your leg a little higher and he hits a particularly deep spot that causes the both of you to moan simultaneously. You drop your arms from around his neck to grip at the sheets, but he takes his right hand to weave your fingers together, pinning it beside your head as he grunts, his lips parting and pulling away from yours as he rests his forehead on yours.
“Kei, don’t stop,” you whimper. The use of his first name seems to spur him on and he rolls his hips deeply, effectively stretching you. His left hand moves down to slide between the two of you, finding your clit and causing you to gasp loudly at the stimulation. He watches you with flushed cheeks and half-lidded eyes, biting his lip as your own face contorts with pleasure.
At this rate, you’re sure you’ll be seeing stars very soon.
“Fuck, I can’t hold out for much longer,” he grunts as his thrusts become more erratic.
“Me too,” is all you can manage to say coherently as he rubs your clit harder.
You can feel your body begin to shake as he removes his hand from your clit, grasping at your other hand and entwining your fingers together to keep you firmly pinned to the bed. He begins panting as his hips move aggressively and he seems to forget himself as he buries his face in your neck.
“Cum for me.”
It was a simple statement—a command—and your body responds. You clench down on him as your vision blurs, your moans of ecstasy practically ringing throughout the room as your back arches up to him. Tsukishima lets out a breathy moan as he’s washed over with his own orgasm, his hips slowing quickly, still pulsing inside of you.
After a moment of catching your breaths, Tsukishima pulls out slowly and kisses you softly, a stark contrast to his character just moments ago. He pulls away and lays down next to you, the both of you staring up at your ceiling as you listen to each other breathing with the sound of heavy rain pouring outside the window.
You suddenly come to a realization.
“Hey, since when did the power go out?”

Can you imagine Hawk and Demetri being protective of Miguel and Sam’s relationship!
Oh yes, they absolutely would be!!! Those are their Emotional Support Token Straights must be protected at all costs!!! Man, they ship it SO hard, especially Demetri XD I mean, it’s basically his best guy and girl friend dating and being in love, and he’s totally on board with that. Not to mention it makes it easier to hang out with both of them, even if they’re a bit on the mushy side sometimes XD Man, Demetri just thinks Sam and Miguel are MADE for each other, and you best believe he is just positively GLEEFUL when they become a thing again! I’ll bet he came up with a ship name for them in-universe and has long-since called dibs on being the best man at their wedding (bold of Demetri to assume this high school couple is gonna end in marriage, but he has more hope than than he probably should XD).
Granted, I do think Sam and Hawk’s relationship would have a bit of a rocky start--mainly because Hawk would be wary of Sam breaking his boy Miguel’s heart again, and Sam would be none too fond of Hawk after all the shit he put her boy Demetri through previously. But Miguel vouches for Sam to Hawk, and Demetri vouches for Hawk to Sam, and eventually Sam and Hawk learn to trust each other. And once they warm up to each other more, they actually realize they MAD VIBE and become weirdly close friends. It surprises everyone in the damn dojo because they’re such vastly contrasting people, and are definitely the most bizarre, random unexpected friendship there. Even Daniel and Johnny are both thrown for a loop, having resigned themselves to the fact there’s no way those two will EVER get along, and now they’re like...best friends??? What the fuck???
(The secret is they spend a lot of time bonding over what a fuck Kyler is and making fun of Demetri for That One Time he dated Yasmine XD)
And Demetri, oh man...he gets SO much mileage out of teasing Miguel about the fact that he is now regularly making out with and exchanging handjobs with a rich girl, a feat Demetri once believed to be impossible. And Miguel just rolls his eyes like “Dude you literally ALSO did that for a while” and Demetri pretends he didn’t hear him because We Don’t Talk About Yasmine. Boy, was that embarrassing.
Demetri also regularly greets Sam and Miguel with “HEY, IT’S THE STRAIGHTS!!! Okay guys, everyone relax, Sam and Miguel are here! We now have our legally-required heterosexual representation! The SJW-haters can’t come for us now!” (because...can you think of??? A single other heterosexual pairing in the entire damn combined dojo??? Even if Aisha were to come back, ain’t nobody convincing me she doesn’t have the biggest Butch Lesbian Energy on the entire planet) and Miguel and Sam lowkey lose their shit every time. Demetri and Hawk both get suuuuper protective of Sam and Miguel, and they joke it’s because if the dojo loses its only resident heterosexuals, it won’t legally be considered sexually diverse enough and will have to be shut down XD
Also these four lowkey become a Power Squad, with Sam and Miguel as the dojo’s resident Straight Karate Power Couple and Hawk and Demetri as the dojo’s resident Gay Karate Power Couple (if Aisha were to ever come back, she would definitely join the Power Squad and there would be no end to the chaos and shenanigans XD). These four highkey constantly tease and roast one another, but they’re also all super Ride or Die for one another at the end of the day, and you best believe Demetri and Hawk are Throwing Hands if anyone comes for their Straights! Same goes for Sam and Miguel being pretty protective of Hawk and Dem--Miguel certainly has a soft spot for his first two friends at West Valley High, and Sam will do anything for her boys!
Maybe all I need in my life is just some wholesome fics of Sam, Miguel, Demetri, and Hawk just all hanging out and goofing off and going on double dates and being generally #SquadGoals ;__;

Thoughts on What if...? so far...
To be fair, the idea of this series was intriguing but I actually didn't think it was going to be THIS good.
Basically it is extremely well-written fanfiction.
Granted the first episode was very straight forward, subbing in Peggy for Steve and creating Zaku-Steve in the process. I did think they missed with the chance of introducing HYDRA Steve (which I wish we would see one day live action or animated, Chris Evans playing a baddy would be awesome). I'm quite excited with the concept of Peggy being a form of Captain Britain though. If in fact, Marvel doesn't decide to bring the X-Men and mutants into the fold any time soon (aka not having to connect to Psylocke with the Braddock siblings), this would be the way to go.
I think my favorite episode so far is the second episode. T'Challa as Star-lord, a reformed Thanos, Ravagers being Robin Hoods, Nebula with hair and had a relatively normal upbringing? Wholesome af this episode. Plus the biggest surprise was how good of a voice actor Djimon Hounson is! Also reiterates how sucky Peter Quill really is.
The third episode was surprisingly very dark to me, but I actually very much like the concept of a police procedural in Marvel. Although Cap is very much on the lower part of the totem pole in terms of my favorite superhero, the Cap films have been my favorite because they are the more grounded in the universe. Same thing with this one, it feels a bit more real. But damn I can't believe that was how Hulk went out lol. Fanboy Coulson is hilarious btw.
The latest episode has my man Doctor Strange. Perhaps the darkest episode yet, and really what is grief but not love persevering? It's how you deal with it. Love can also be your downfall. How Strange Supreme dealt with Christine's death and the subsequent destruction of the universe as a result, basically is how WandaVision could have ended. I also believe that it foreshadows what will happen in No Way Home. "One moment, one choice, destroys a universe." Should have had tea with Wong, Stephen.
I'm gonna get a lot of grief for saying this but...I didn't actually feel bad when Christine died and it's a fixed point.

Puzzleship JP & KR Fancomic Recommendation List
UPDATE (19-12-2020): Added two more artists and two more titles on the Japanese lists!
I don’t consider myself as someone very tidy and organized, but I just like making lists of the things I love, somehow. Hence this post. I haven’t been in the fandom for long but I thought I’d share some of my favorites primarily from two sites: pixiv and postype. Most of the postype ones are behind paywall, and I will mark them differently.
Some of my favorites come from the same artists, so I’ll also link their pixiv profile on top of my favorite work of them.
(I actually bookmarked a lot and picking them isn’t an easy task, so I will update this step by step. If you see only a link of an artist, that’s the reason, but I can guarantee you will love their works! Feel free to recommend me yours through reblogs or DM as well!)
Japanese
Artist: CYHGM
She is a Chinese and is more active on Weibo (she posted tons of puzzleship there, but my Mandarin is beyond rusty so I could only cry in despair lmao), but she has two fancomics that I absolutely adore of. Those two mentioned fancomics are:
The Past and The Future. You can check my translation for this one here. It tells about Atem who gets transported to 3000 years later before his coronation, and that’s where he met post-canon!Yugi. Just... everything about this comic is so wonderful. I teared up at the last page, not gonna lie ;_;
The Pharaoh and The Fairy: An Ancient Egypt-slash-fantasy AU featuring the S0/TOEI casts. The fairy Yugi was saved by Atem, and it’s an obligatory for fairies to grant their savior’s wishes. However, Atem doesn’t exactly have something he wants of, and this confuses Yugi on how he should repay him back. Pure undiluted sugar, and fairy!Yugi is just so cute.
Artist: Fushitas
Arguably one of the most popular Puzzleship fanartists in the JP fandom (look at their number of followers on Twitter, man), but maybe it’s also due to the fact they were in AoT fandom too. They’re mostly active on Twitter, and if you also watch Zexal, they draw tons of Yuma-centric pairings too. They have released lots of books, and their prices on the reseller sites are... well, let’s just say, unbelievable. Just to show how famous they are.
From everlasting to everlasting: Set after DSOD. A mysterious figure appears in front of Atem, claiming to be his queen. Everyone in the after life somehow acknowledges this person, which makes him even more confused because he’s the only one unaware of this. On the living realm, Yugi who is on the way to his home got hit by a truck (isekai much??) and when he woke up, he suddenly plays the role of Atem’s queen. I’ve always adored Fushitas’ drawing, and this is no exception. The story is pretty simple, but is still good! The ending of this comic is everything I’ve always wanted from the canon lol.
The King’s Guest: Ancient Egypt AU. The councils are starting to get worried because Atem shows no interest in marrying someone, so Shimon opens up a “chance” sort of for civilians to become “someone for the Pharaoh to talk with”. The civilian Yugi takes this chance right off the bat, and stuff happens? This one is just so sweet and the misunderstanding later in the story kinda cracks me up. I really love the way they build the two’s chemistry in here.
Artist: usi
They only draw two puzzleship fancomics, but both are so good and explores the themes I’ve loved from the pairing.
The Lotus’ Devil: Set post-canon with a flashback. It tells about Yugi’s regret in the past where he wanted to show Atem a small pool supposed to be full of lotus flower only to arrive seeing them not blooming. Fast forward to the post-canon, he found out that there’s actually a monster residing on that pool. I really, really loved the ending scene of this one.
Who’s The Detestable, Fortunate Guy Here: I think this is set sometime in the canon story, although the exact timing is unclear. It’s a short comic of Yugi asking Atem to pretend to be his date and go on a “dating practice”. A very pleasant hurt-and-comfort kind of story, and who doesn’t love a story of them dating anyways? :”D
Artist: Houzuki Anzu
She doesn’t draw much YGO, but she has some Arc-V and 5D’s fanarts too if you watch the series!
Hourglass: Sets after the Memory World arc. Yugi keeps hearing a strange sound inside his mind, and he finds out there’s a huge hourglass standing there, guarded by the will of Millenium Puzzle. Apparently, the hourglass is linked to Atem’s remaining time in the living realm? Anyways, the ending of this comic might look like a cliffhanger, but I personally think it isn’t. I love the theme this comic picks to explore and the way it is presented.
Present: Same setting with Hourglass, but this one focuses more on Atem sorting out his feelings about the Ceremonial Duel and what he has learned from Yugi in general. It’s a very nice extra detail that the canon slightly lacks of, and I just love... bittersweet stuff in general haha.
Artist: Chiriko
Are you the type who wants puzzleship to be full of happiness and fluff and nothing else? Well, she has a number of comics to fill that need! I actually love all of her works, but if I have to pick, these two are my favorite:
...Don’t Ever Leave Me Again: A short story about Yugi having a nightmare of where he was stuck in the fire accident at Otogi’s store. Well... this isn’t a fluff sort of, but it’s... a happy ending still? /shot
[Untitled]: A dialogue-less comic, but this is the sort of post-canon what-if that I really, really like. Atem stroking Yugi’s face while sleeping is just... so soft man....
Artist: Komori Nea
Their art style was one of those that’s very noticeable and has a certain charm on it. They are pretty active on Twitter, and even draws puzzle comics once in a while that haven’t been uploaded to pixiv (which is why I recommend you to check their twitter gallery too haha)
The Soul Stays Awake: Post!DSOD. Atem comes back from afterlife in hoping that Yugi would be as happy as he is, but months after, Atem’s existence still hasn’t been registered on Yugi’s life just yet. Another post!DSOD take that I like which involves the fear of another farewell and uncertainty, but this is a good hurt-and-comfort. I swear, it’ll hurt you just... for a while. :”)
The Attack’s Aim: Set during the canon series. A short comic mostly portraying Yugi’s hidden strength but also the tenacity of duelist that is not only targeted toward the opponent, but also to Atem, without the person actually noticing it. The last page of this one is so... soft and gentle I had to put it into this list.
Artist: caf
Often draw with S0/TOEI style, characters and characterization in mind. Their coloring in illustrations is so soft, plus artists who specialize in S0/TOEI style can’t be found so easily. Their comic style is not a manga-like one and they write the dialogues with handwriting, but if you can read hiragana and write and understand how kanji works (so you can write it on translation machine), their comics are easy to understand!
magenta: S0/TOEI AU where Yugi and Atem are two separate person. A short comic of Yugi lying under the rain as Atem searches for his whereabouts. I really love the way they portray the rain and the atmosphere surrounding the scene. Or maybe I’m just biased with rains in general, ahahaha.
Yuugi and Mao’s Stay Home: Same AU as above. Our two boys has to face the same shit we do IRL in this comic, which is quarantine. Atem offers to cook something for Yugi since he can’t eat outside. You love seeing Yugi eating stuff? This is a perfect comic for y’all.
Artist: Kkyut
Artist: Kayu(i)
Others:
Gemini: As Atem comes back to the living world, Yugi faces the dilemma of having being separated by “his other self” physically and mentally. A short comic, but the lines the artist used are so... beautiful. Like, the way they describe Yugi’s loneliness?? Just hits the park so much.
Until The Hourglass Runs Out: Set after the Memory World Arc. As their farewell day goes closer, Yugi decides to give Atem a full control of his body at school so he could spend his time with Jounouchi and the gang more. However, things don’t go as smooth as Yugi had expected. If you like that little teeny weeny pain before the Ceremonial Duel, this comic perfectly suits the taste.
see you sometime: Post-canon. Mahaad offers Atem a chance to meet Yugi in the living realm one more time, but with several conditions. Firstly, he could only stay for a day at maximum. Secondly, Yugi won’t be able to remember who he spent his time with after Atem hangs out with him. Thirdly, Yugi will not be able to “recognize” this Atem; he will only be registered in Yugi’s mind as a new classmate. A bittersweet comic in whole, but seeing the two having fun like a normal teenager would just makes me grin.
After The Rain: A dialogue-less comic, so everyone would be able to read this right away. A short comic of the two, but still very cute and wholesome!
The Tropics of Horus: Post!DSOD, Atem has to chase Kisara who lingers around Kaiba’s soul and he needs Yugi’s help to bring Kisara back to afterlife, but he has his own ulterior motive. This manga is so dialogue-heavy and might be hard to dissect especially if you don’t understand JP grammar and context, but the time spent trying to understand the meaning behind every words will be worth it. That much I guarantee. Just... everything about this comic, and how Atem’s “ulterior motive” connects to our boys’ adventure in canon series are so well planned. You can also purchase the R18 version in a form of the book here (toranoana)
Christmas Day: S0/TOEI puzzleship hint (dark puzzle???). There’s something in store for Yugi in Christmas, but this one might surprise Yugi a lot. It’s not that the prompt of “Atem gets separated from Yugi temporarily” is uncommon, but it is still a sweet one and makes you smile throughout the pages.
Korean
All titles mentioned here are not free unless mentioned otherwise. Also I don’t understand Korean except being able to read Yugi and Atem’s name, so my story interpretation might be wrong. If you understand Korean, I’d really love for you input! ;_;
You can check out on how to buy comics from postype here
Yugi’s 2020 Birthday Anthology: Rain and After End
This is an anthology consisting of four titles, but they share the same (or similar) setting where Atem is reincarnated, but he doesn’t remember his past (or has not yet, depending on how the story portrays it). Some are age-gap (adult!Yugi and high school student!Atem), so you might want to consider that if it’s not your cup of tea.
To Like Someone is to...: Age-gap setting. Mostly tells about how Yugi deals with his feeling as the reincarnated Atem in front of him turns out to have a feeling on him. I like how the story’s conclusion is that Yugi will sort it out slowly while also teasing Atem how he’s “too early” to date Yugi w.
In A Circle: A story about how the two met through an online chess game. Iirc Yugi works in a game company and Atem is sort of a famous e-sports player in this setting. There’s a lot of dialogue in this one and the app sometimes can’t process them very well, but I liked what I can understand from it! not very convincing is it haha i’m sorry i shouldn’t have done this
Familiarity: Age-gap setting, where Yugi becomes Atem’s caretaker. The comic mostly focuses on how Atem notices how kind (or too kind) Yugi is sometimes, but there are times where he feels distant. The plot where Atem gets into a fight with the other kid in his school because the kid mocks Yugi, and how Yugi just... accepts it even when Atem doesn’t want to say his reason of punching the kid is just.... god... I love this kind of age-gap setting like this I guess ;_;
Touchdown: Age-gap setting, but Atem is older in here (university student). The two goes to Atem’s university festival and they think about their own feeling when they got separated. On their way to drop Atem off, he confesses to Yugi, but Yugi is still unsure on his overlapping feeling between the reincarnated Atem and the Atem he knows. Make sure you play Motohiro Hata’s Rain and Aimer’s After Rain during the car scene to make the “rain” mood works even better :”)
Others:
Try For Point: A continuation of Touchdown, where Atem (like, the one from the past) visits Yugi in his dream and helps Yugi in sorting out is his feeling toward his reincarnated self. Atem’s advice is so sweet and there’s one certain line from this comic that I remember very deeply - there’s a part where he says, “If you don’t pull out the card, you won’t know what card it is, right?” to help Yugi clearing out his hesitancy ;w; at this point, I curse myself for not being able to understand Korean
#puzzleshipping#blindshipping#ygo#im sorry if i can't make a precise description...#will be updated regularly as i scan through my bulky bookmarks

Anidala Fic Recs
I got asked for fic recs for these. NSFW will be in a private post (that I’ll make later GOING THROUGH YOUR AO3 HISTORY IS TEDIOUS) for easy DMing purposes. All recs under a read more.
So first for authors:
Just about anything by SkywalkersAmidala and Gemma’s Writing (@gemmaswriting)
Everything I’ve read by them is absolutely fantastic, and believe me, I’ve read pretty much everything from them. Multiple times in some cases. They’re just very good. SkywalkersAmidala in most cases writes more silly lighthearted AUs and Gemma’s Writing does a bit of everything, all of which are good.
Padme Lives/Anakin Doesn’t Fall:
(Anything on my Vaderdala fic recs list, you need Padme alive for Vaderdala)
Precipice by Shadowsong26
An AU in which Anakin Skywalker does not follow Mace Windu and the others to Palpatine’s office after they leave to arrest the Chancellor. As a result, he doesn’t get that final push over the edge, and doesn’t Fall.
(Padme returns to the Senate with Luke, Anakin to lead the Rebels with Leia. Things get better is the absolute best way to summary this one.)
To These Memories by KatieRoseFun
After Darth Sidious is defeated, everything changes. Some for the better, others not so much. Mostly better though. (Or: Anakin becomes a dad. Rex rehabilitates clone troopers who no longer want to be a part of the army. Ahsoka gets a call from an old friend. And maybe Obi-Wan finds out it’s not just his enemies who don’t stay dead. Basically, everyone gets the happy ending they deserve.)
Pocket Full of Sand Verse by Philthestone
Anakin goes missing, Padme is captured, and this causes Leia Skywalker and Luke Amidala to meet.
Clash of Fates by AliceBDS (In Progress)
Sometimes, the course of life is changed with one decision.
When Ahsoka Tano requests the help of her former master in liberating Mandalore, a twist of destiny sends them to Coruscant to rescue Chancellor Palpatine instead, altering the course of galactic history forever.
When Dead Men Walk by Ellapromachos
Anakin hesitates just a few minutes longer, and the entire galaxy is better for it.
or; Anakin is at the Temple for Order 66, but not as Darth Vader. And when Palpatine comes for him, he plays his cards just a little bit better. He digs his heels in, and prepares for the long con.
My Loyalties Lie by Stranestelle (In Progress)
When Anakin initially rejects Palpatine's offer to 'help' him, the Sith Lord, in a rare moment of hastiness, ships him off to Kamino to have a control chip implanted.
Nobody Needs to Know by Elizaham8957
The twins are born in the middle of the Clone Wars, and Anakin and Padmé try to continue hiding the fact that they're married and now have two children.
Nobody buys it. Like, seriously, nobody.
Hunter by Zinoviev
Leia is offered a chance to escape Bespin when Boba Fett enlists her help to prevent Luke from falling into Vader's clutches. She has plenty of questions, however. Who is this mysterious bounty hunter, and what does he want with her friend?
The Bantha in the Room by Estrangedlestrange
concept: anakin sitting in the council room bouncing baby luke on his knees as he adamantly denies having children or attachments
Time Travel:
Stand the Hazard of the Die by KeelieThompson1
Baby Luke is sent back in time by Obi-Wan to the prequel era. Needless to say, things change.
Just One Wish by LadyVader23
On a trip to Dathomir, Anakin Skywalker finds a spell that will grant him one wish. Anxious to return home, he wishes for a way to end the war. As a result, he ends up accidentally kidnapping his future children...moments after they've escaped Bespin. Luke is quite done dealing with his mess of a father, and Leia is convinced telling the future Darth Vader about the future will only make it worse. Desperate, Anakin calls in the only person they might listen to: Padme Amidala. Too bad Padme has a surprise of her own...
Temper With the Stars by Pipionem
After being pulled through the World between Worlds, Ahsoka finds herself in the final days of the Clone Wars, on a Separatist ship holding the recently kidnapped Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. Saving the galaxy from the horrors to come is a lot to get done in a week, but Ahsoka has lost everything before - this time, she won't let that happen. Of course, that doesn't mean it's going to be easy.
Skywalker Family Fics:
Skywalker Family Values by Ariel_Sojourner
Camp Chippewa is proud to be the Empire’s foremost camp resort for privileged young adults. Located on the picturesque forest moon of Endor, your child will have the opportunity to participate in wholesome outdoor activities and socialize appropriately with their peers. We invite your offspring to join us for the experience of a lifetime and a bright future in service of the greater glory of the Empire.
On opposite sides of the galaxy, on opposite sides of a civil war, Darth Vader and Padme Amidala unwittingly send Luke and Leia to the same camp during school break. Chaos naturally ensues.
Mild AU:
Desideratum by Sithanakin (In Progress)
As a young Initiate in the midst of a childish crush, Padmé had always dreamt of Anakin Skywalker becoming her Master. But she was to turn thirteen too early for that to be possible.
Then, at sixteen, she loses her Master in the battle of Geonosis. In the confusion of all her grief, she does not expect newly-knighted Anakin Skywalker to offer to take her on as his Padawan.
The Wise Thing by Stranestelle
Warning: Very dark, not happy ending.
Padmé Amidala may not be all she seems. Anakin Skywalker wears his heart on his sleeve. People have crushes every day, it’s not the end of the world. Is it?
or, if you will, a sith!Padmé AU
Bonded by Betts
(Okay I’ll out myself slightly with smut but just one on my mostly SFW recs.)
Padmé had always been better at the mental half of the Jedi code—coercion, manipulation, meditation. Anakin had always been better at the physical half—beating shit up with his lightsaber.
Heirs to the Empire by Aldojlc
Alternate Universe. En route to Endor, Luke, Leia, and Han during the events of ROTJ find themselves transported into a different universe and a different Empire, with a different Vader.
Heavy AUs:
(it’s not so bad) being dead like me by Estrangedlestrange
Recently deceased Anakin Skywalker (killed in an taco truck explosion) finds himself not in the after life but recruited as the newest member of the undead, he’s become a grim reaper. He’s told that it’s his destiny but really he thinks it’s just rotten luck. Rotten except for the fact that one of his fellow reapers is Padmé Amidala, the most beautiful woman Anakin’s has seen, dead or alive. As he struggles to come to grips with his death and his new role in the universe, Anakin finds that taking souls isn’t the easiest job out there, he also finds himself falling in love.
Skyborn by Silverdaye
Senator Padmé Amidala enjoys spending her time in a bookstore, one made of real flimsi books where each one costs a small fortune. It is there she meets a strange man, Anakin Skywalker, who is searching for long forgotten planet, Kesh. 4,500 years ago a ship crashed on Kesh. The survivors told the natives they were their gods, the Skyborn. Anakin is one of them.
For Even the Very Wise Cannot See All Ends by UncorrectGrammar
When people think of Anakin Skywalker, they think of the Chosen One, the Hero With No Fear. They think of an accomplished duelist, of the best flyer in Hogwarts, of the prophesized savior of the wizarding world.
They don’t think of gardens diligently kept or dirt under fingernails.
Or: Anakin Skywalker and his legacy. Hogwarts AU.
General Prequel Era (Non Anidala Centric, but still contain Anidala)
Like Fire In Our Bones by AcuteNeurosis
With all of the most important things in the galaxy literally exploding around her, Leia is given the chance to go back and help keep a promise she never personally made.
But then, for Skywalkers, saving the galaxy was always a family matter.
Well It Goes Like This by Corde_and_Dorme
At the end of it all, the thing is: Palpatine breaks his heart.
(or the one where Anakin makes the hard choice, the right choice, the other choice. Then he keeps making it.)
Vode An by Epsiloneridani
There are millions of lives on the line, clone and Jedi alike. Every second brings them one step closer to the chip's activation - one step closer to the endgame. The truth is shrouded in secrecy and clouded by doubt. The clock's ticking down.
It's a race against time.
Fives is gone. Echo finds the courage to ask why.
Bonus: ObiAnidala
For We Are A Woven Thread; Find the Strand by Shadowsong26
The night before Obi-Wan was to leave for Utapau, he and Anakin and Padme agreed that, regardless of the Council's orders, Anakin should go as well. They split up over the course of the battle--and when Order 66 is given, they cannot find one another in the chaos; Padme, on Coruscant, is left with the knowledge that neither of them is coming back.
This story covers the next four years in their lives; how they survived and coped with the loss; how they began to fight back--and how they found their way home.

“For whatever reasons—the difficulty of predicting the moving target that was age at menarche, the reluctance to discuss it, the desire to fend off precociousness, the unwillingness to lower the boom on free-spirited daughters— parents and advisers did not agree on when girls were grown, and marked the coming-to-womanhood at a range of different ages, through different social rites of passage.
The English writer Charlotte Yonge marked one end of the continuum. In 1876 she encouraged great freedom for young girls—‘‘a wholesome delight in rushing about at full speed, playing at active games, climbing trees, rowing boats, making dirt-pies and the like’’—which she declared must end at age twelve. Most parents granted girls status as children for considerably longer. The literary figure of the tomboy, which some scholars have seen as ‘‘disruptive to rigid taxonomies of gender identity,’’ in fact reflected a reality in Victorian child rearing, freedoms granted to girls whose parents had yet to rein them in.
The end of youth arrived conclusively with the leaving of school, mandating a new way of allocating girls’ time. Between twelve and twenty, there were harbingers ranging from putting up hair and lengthening dresses on one hand to the prodding toward religious commitment on the other. Different families chose different ages to signify maturity, suggesting a continuum which would not be named until G. Stanley Hall published his stage-constructing treatise Adolescence in 1904.
At the time, contemporaries vacillated between the languages of childhood and adulthood to define the teenage years. The elite children’s magazine St. Nicholas claimed readers up until the age of twenty, and conventional wisdom encouraged the consignment of youth to childhood as long as possible. At the same time, Louisa May Alcott’s famous girls’ book Little Women advanced the premise repeated in endless moralist literature that girls should learn early the self-discipline and control demanded of adult women. Small wonder that actual girls were confused.
The markers of impending adulthood arrived unheralded in the surprising denials or demands of adults. At the age of eleven, Mary Boit, as she always had, wrote to Santa Claus. ‘‘Papa thinks I am too old but I do not,’’ she reported. The next day she repeated the exercise. ‘‘I had supper and wrote a letter to Santa Clause as papa burned up the other.’’ The strength of her father’s denial was matched only by the daring insistence of Mary Boit on her rights to childhood.
Two years later, however, the generational roles in the Boit family were reversed. It was thirteen-year-old Mary who was insisting on the marks of adulthood and her stepmother who was holding her back. ‘‘I think it is just as mean as it can be that I can not have my dresses longer as they are nearly up to my knees and all the girls of my age wear there dresses longer.’’ The gradual transition to adulthood was marked by these regular games of tug-of-war.
Dress length was an interesting issue both for advisers and the mothers who attempted to comply with them. On the one hand, long dresses signified adult status and therefore should be resisted as long as possible. On the other hand, long dresses covered girls’ legs and therefore should be adopted as soon as such legs might invite unseemly attention. Lillian Boit took the former position, the writers of Ladies’ Home Journal the latter. Isabel Mallon, writing under her own name rather than her famous pseudonym Ruth Ashmore, noted that she could ‘‘hear the dress reformers objecting to this’’ but declared that ‘‘keeping our girls modest is of very much more importance.’’
Emma Hooper’s descriptions of ‘‘A Schoolgirl’s Outfit’’ in 1894 recommended that skirts hit the leg halfway between knee and ankle at age ten. At age eight, they should be from one to two inches shorter. Several advisers agreed that at age thirteen a girl’s skirts should reach her ankles, while at fourteen through six- teen they should go just below her ankles. Seventeen marked full adulthood for purposes of dress length, for a girl should wear her dresses ‘‘the length that any lady does.’’ In essence, fashion advisers on hem length were gradual- ists, suggesting that hems travel steadily down a girl’s leg in accord with her increasing years.
According to the Ladies’ Home Journal, hair had its own separate clock; with no implications for modesty, hair should be kept off the top of the head throughout most of the teen years, the Journal urged. At separate times advisers staved off readers’ suggestions that fourteen, fifteen, and sixteen might be appropriate times for a girl to begin wearing her hair up. At fifteen, it might be worn ‘‘braided, looped and tied with black ribbon’’ for novelty, one writer suggested. Only at nineteen might a girl earn the right to arrange her hair ‘‘in any way she wished.’’ As in the Journal ’s recommendations for other kinds of conduct, though, it seems likely that few readers actually complied.
Margaret Tileston, who was brought up conservatively, noted her gradual adaptations to more adult pre- sentation, beginning in 1881, when she was thirteen, with the decision that she and her older sister would begin to wear ‘‘corset waists.’’ (The same year, Agnes Garrison at fifteen noted her astonishment that a new acquaintance wore ‘‘corsets.’’) The next year, at the age of fourteen, Tileston noted, ‘‘I did my hair up myself behind for the first time.’’
A month later, wearing her hair up and behind had evolved from noteworthy event to planned habit. ‘‘I intend to generally now,’’ she reported. At the age of seventeen, after her graduation from high school, she began wearing a bustle, another contested arena of maturity. As with dress length, bustles came calibrated for age and sophistication, with the progression left to family decision. ‘‘Misses’’ bustles had two or three coils, while those allowed to older girls had four, and bustles for fancy wear sometimes had six.
In the incremental adoption of the marks of adulthood, some ages were more resonant than others. In Louisa May Alcott’s novels the age when childish high spirits must be put aside for young adulthood was fifteen. On the eve of Julia Newberry’s sixteenth birthday, she imagined herself saying farewell to childhood, for ‘‘when once a person is sixteen, though they are still very young, they can never be called, ‘child.’’’ Fond parents might grant girls freedom to ‘‘run wild’’ longer.
Frances Willard’s parents chose her seventeenth birthday as ‘‘the day of her martyrdom,’’ as she recorded it in her diary. ‘‘My ‘back’ hair is twisted up like a corkscrew; I carry eighteen hair-pins; my head aches miserably; my feet are entangled in the skirt of my hateful new gown. As for chasing sheep . . . it’s out of the question.’’ Altogether, Willard felt she had lost her ‘‘occupation’’ as a free-spirited and adventurous child. Emily Eliot was allowed to hold on longer, announcing on her nineteenth birthday, ‘‘It is so horrid to get out of your teens and when you are 20 you must leave girlhood behind you and become a woman. I like teens ever so much.’’
The age of eighteen seems to have borne the most cultural freight, though, indicating the time when a girl simultaneously came into possession of herself and became eligible for possession by someone else. If her parents martyred her at seventeen, at eighteen Frances Willard claimed her own destiny, if only in choosing her reading material, declaring: ‘‘I am eighteen—I am of age— I am now to do what I think is right.’’
In elite society, as well, eighteen was a common age for a girl to ‘‘come out’’ into society, and become eligible for courtship and marriage. Birthday gifts of money to serve as a dowry and of tokens befitting young ladyhood suggested these implications. A Paterson, New Jersey, manufacturer gave his daughter yellow roses and pinks ‘‘36 in all,’’ and Lucy Breckinridge’s father gave her $200. Margaret Tileston received a $1,000 savings bond from her grandfather, as well as the news that she would have a regular allowance, a privilege enjoyed earlier by some of her class. The age of eighteen in fact was often thought to be the conclusion of a process of growing up which had commenced years earlier.
Some fond—or negligent—parents demonstrated little relish even then for moving girls from carefree childhood to responsible adulthood. Such girls were lucky. Annie Cooper grew up the youngest daughter of a retired boat builder in what she described as a near-idyllic rural setting in eastern Long Island. When she turned eighteen in 1882, she still found herself enjoying exuberant girlhood. ‘‘I am still spared, well and happy, no care yet hath been put upon me, I am still a happy, joyous, merry, hearty, and healthy, school girl, girl of 16 in feeling, but eighteen in years.’’ In reflection, she imagined the consequences of her new age.
‘‘I can’t bear to think how fast my happy youth and childhood is slipping from me, that I soon will be too big to climb trees and ride horse back straddling, etc. yes, that in fact I am too big already, it makes me feel badly, for although I love the deeper and more sound stuff, yet too I love nature, in all its phases, I love the woods the air, the birds, the storms, the water, the animals of every description, and I love nature’s sports, and I feel that in advancing age I am getting too big to do with propriety all the sports which belong to nature.’’
Her concerns for propriety encouraged her to imagine cutting back her activity, but she felt reassured that some activities were still left to her. ‘‘Thank God who has given them to me, that I still can ride horse back and go boating as much as I please, with propriety, if I can not climb trees (in the front yard.)’’ Of course there was always the back yard, where it was clear that Annie Cooper would continue to retain the entitlements of a girlhood that she remembered in later days as being ‘‘full and rich and innocent and happy.’’
Yet for every such memory of girlhood seized and held, there were other memories of entrapment, of moments when the meaning of maturing was frozen in claustrophobic anxiety. One such memory was recorded by Elizabeth Coffin, writing about her girlhood in Germantown, Pennsylvania, in the 1890s:
I can never forget my first long dress. It had an overskirt, too, which was insult added to injury. I felt ‘tied and bound’ with it, and it seemed as if, on account of it, my old life with its care-free associations had come to an end. . . . When I found myself robed in it, with my pet dog Koko I went to the garden and told my story of woe to the great cornstalks, who I felt understood me as nothing else in nature did. It seemed to me that the cornstalks waved and bowed their heads in sympathy. . . . There would be no more boiling of corn in the old kettle, climbing trees, coasting with other girls and boys, hitching my sled to the backs of sleighs or romp- ing with the dogs. I was grown up now and serious duties were expected of me.
The donning of a long dress was only the beginning of more profound changes accompanying the arrival of adulthood. Girls used available explanatory systems to describe and acknowledge their metamorphosis into adulthood, often slipping into alternating romantic, social, familial, and spiritual narratives. In the early and midcentury, girls’ diaries strove for an appropriately spiritual analysis for such changes. Later in the century, girls were less reliably successful in finding religious justification for their states of mind in an environment of increasing religious skepticism. Whether successful or failed, however, girls’ spiritual quests encouraged them to scrutinize their emotional lives and provided them with the vocabulary to do so. Unlike the keeping of diaries, however, religious commitment often required a public profession, which brought private feeling into public display.
Agnes Lee’s 1850s journal described an intense malaise which evolved through several rhetorics of understanding until resting in a religious crisis. She first considered the possibility that she was homesick, and then wondered whether her longing was ‘‘to be loved, to be worshipped by something or someone?’’ Once out, this thought provided the occasion for a final resting point for the evening’s reveries. ‘‘No—that is sinful, silly and impossible. I hope, I pray my yearnings . . . may be for something holier higher than I have yet felt. . . . I am told and I know I can, I must find it in the bosom of my Saviour and only there. I have tried, but my heart seems shut up, it is so hard! . . . Some- times the awful thought comes to me, I am one of those who are never to be good—one of the doomed.’’ Agnes Lee’s progression, all documented in the pages of her journal, ended by dropping her in the center of a traditional and appropriate script for a girl her age, especially in the early to midcentury: the quest for a conversion experience.
By midcentury and beyond, the expectation of a moment of sudden epiphany had been muted a bit; it was no longer necessary to have a moment of mystical communion to signify an indwelling Christ. Nonetheless, the anticipation of a mature coming-to-God pervaded and sometimes shaped the experience of youth. Sometimes the signs were overt.
Emma Hidden got a severe case of chicken pox during her teenage years and nearly died. On January 28, 1869, she noted the anniversary of her illness. ‘‘One year ago today I was taken sick with chicken-pox—What changes has that year brought to me. One year ago I was so silly and thoughtless—and now I have a sweet hope of a change.’’ Several weeks later she gave thanks to God ‘‘that he has made me pass thro’ the fire to purify me.’’ The loss of ‘‘silly’’ girlhood through spiritual ‘‘change’’ was a clear formula which was applied in anticipation and description of religious commitment.
Ideally, a religious quest had institutional consequences. A religious experience was formalized by joining a church. Parents were centrally involved in encouraging, promoting, and celebrating this process as a critical part of their responsibilities. Sally Dana’s letters from seminary in the late 1850s made it clear that under her father’s oversight she was to have established a connection with a local minister, an acquaintance of her father’s, to facilitate her confirmation.
She wrote, ‘‘Has Mr. Wilmer said anything about me, I have not seen him to talk to for two weeks and that on Sunday a little while after church (he has been here to see me two or three times, since I have been here) but I feel as if I wanted to see him, or his wife more but, perhaps I expect too much of a minister.’’ Dana went on to ask ‘‘God my Father, Friend’’ ‘‘to give me strength that I may continue my efforts and not disappoint my very dear parent and friends.’’ Obligation and succor were reciprocal, with Sally Dana asking God for help so as not to disappoint her father, just as her father asked her to seek help from her local minister so as not to disappoint her God.
Perhaps as early as several weeks later (the year of this letter is not noted), Dana wrote about greater resolution to this crisis. Her letter commenced with a description of a calm joy and serenity. ‘‘Father, I cannot tell you what a pleasant day last Sunday was to me, particularly after church, and after talking with Mr. Wilmer a little while. I felt so quiet and calm and peaceful, I had my Bible lesson early and I had time to read a little and then. I really loved that Sunday I wish I could have others like it.’’
Dana’s description of her state of mind had particular significance, because it accompanied a moment of commitment: ‘‘I am so glad I can be confirmed, I look forward to it with pleasure, I think of it (if I can express my self right) as being a kind of shield and defense from the world and its lusts, as if I should be nearer my Saviour friend.’’ Sally Dana’s confession of religious calm and commitment to her father represented her fulfillment of youthful obligation to both earthly and heavenly father, even without a moment of spiritual epiphany.
If girls sought commitment at parental directive, they often experienced conversion within a youth cohort. Agnes Lee wrote lengthy journal entries about her personal and spiritual journey to God, seemingly an individual in- ternal odyssey out from under ‘‘an angry black cloud that [was] ever over me,’’ which left her feeling and acting ‘‘so strange.’’ This intensely spiritual experience did not happen in isolation, however, for ‘‘Annie, Mary, Ada and Annette took the same step.’’
Individual quests under parental guidance often took place in company—sometimes of family members, sometimes of school- mates, even sometimes in classes. When Sally Dana was attempting to pro- cess her confirmation, she noted that she ‘‘was not in any class yet,’’ an acknowledgment by the churches themselves that routes to salvation might run through education and preparation, rather than through the spontaneity of random epiphany.
…Professing faith, like being good, was emotional work which required the acquisition of appropriate feelings. Unlike the quiet display of pleasantness, though, loving God required girls to verbalize their feelings to parents, ministers, and congregations. Evangelical culture encouraged a language of feeling often embarrassing to girls still trying to get their emotional bearings. Annie Cooper had delayed until what she seemed to think was the last acceptable moment—the week of her twentieth birthday—perhaps partly because she found public acknowledgment of her faith to be excruciating.
When a minister asked Annie Cooper to help with a female prayer meeting, she was thrown into a panic. ‘‘Oh! my God! how can I? I do wish I could but have not the gift of ‘gab,’ I don’t see how I can. I, who can not even, to save my life, say a single word at home, how can I brake through the barriers of timidity and natural diffidence to such an extent as that?’’
Annie Cooper’s worries about her ability to articulate religious feeling came allied with worries of all kinds about her emotional depth, especially her ability to be the kind of understanding, helpful daughter who could assist her parents in their old age. Speaking about religion meant speaking sincerely about feelings; speaking about either constituted a substantial challenge to late-Victorian girls still trying to manage complex emotional protocols.
…By its very nature, the experience of religious conversion, or even the reconfirming of religious commitment, depended on private, personal feeling. What was at issue was not what or how much you knew, or how you acted, but instead what you felt. However, unlike most other circumstances, in which private feeling was appropriately closeted in one’s heart, religious profession meant speaking of that feeling in a compelling way. Just when girlhood’s lessons had been learned, religious profession required that they be overturned in a potentially embarrassing confession of religious enthusiasm. Coming in the context of a life defined by being good and subordinating selfish desires, such public self-revelation was anathema.
…To the extent that Victorian parents and advisers demanded religious profession, they were asking that girls look deep inside themselves and come up with something profound, sincere, pure, and winning. This, of course, was what girls brought to romantic relationships as well, an alliance that brought possibility as well as danger. One mother explained to her constrained daughter the relationship between religious and romantic spontaneity, suggesting that the expression of religious feeling might itself lead to more genuine communion with those around—perhaps even a more direct route into the hearts of men.
Though they may be ‘‘apparently thoughtless young men,’’ Ella Lyman wrote, a woman’s ‘‘carrying into life the life-giving idea’’ might lead men to ‘‘show their best deepest side and one immediately establishes real trust and friendship.’’ With a young woman’s expression of religious sensibility might come the realization of oneness, ‘‘that we are God’s own children with one aim one hope one aspiration.’’
But this experience of spiritual and romantic oneness was just what Annie Winsor’s mother feared. Ann Winsor put off the matter of her daughter’s soul until just a few weeks before Annie’s twentieth birthday. At that point she sent a letter of gentle inquiry to her daughter at college, revealing her sticking point: a need to reassure herself about the role of feeling in her daughter’s life.
Although she urged Annie to express religious enthusiasm, she feared feelings of other kinds, warning about the lamentable career of George Eliot, another intellectual daughter. George Eliot’s extramarital affair with George Lewes gave Ann pause. Without ‘‘clear sight to guide it, and strict ‘puritan’ principle to strengthen it,’’ such feeling could lead a girl directly into the biggest kind of moral trouble.
The cultural critic Nancy Armstrong has argued that the development of a specifically feminine identity in nineteenth-century England rested on the construction of a psychologized, feminine protagonist in the romantic novel. According to Armstrong, the drama of the domestic heroine lay in the richness and the interest of her feelings and her sensibility, not in the interplay of bold actions on a large stage.
What Armstrong’s theory overlooks, which was especially significant in the United States, is the central role that the search for a religious self played in the development of a feeling and romantic self of any kind. Not all advisers agreed about the need for girls to demonstrate engaged spirituality. Some moralists feared excessive piety in the same way that they feared sensational fiction: it might divert girls from their little duties at home.
…The expectation that girls speak about religion, like the expectation that girls like or dislike books, was a cultural demand that girls have and then be able to communicate an interior, private being. When girls like Ellen Regal, daughter of an itinerant minister in Michigan added ‘‘secret divotion’’ to her attendance at family worship and her memorizing of the Bible, she was exercising a private, personalized religion which would pay dividends in the development of an enriched sense of self. Girls’ reservations in speaking about such a private subject as religion revealed their discomfort in speaking about, or perhaps even in having, feelings they could trust and report on. Once mastered, though, religious profession might lead to emotional assertions of other kinds.”
