same vein as i'm upset but people keep explaining the other person's actions to me. like great! i'm still upset though
i don't think i like talking to my family on certain issues. especially ones that they themselves don't understand or experience. i've had my experiences with transphobia brushed off because "not everyone's like that 🙄" like. okay. so therefore i should shut the fuck up. got it. thanks for NOT listening to me 👍

I feel like people don't want to accept personality disorders as neurodivergencies because doing so would make us face the fact that they deserve accomodations too.
People with PDs need Accomodations too!!!
Like, yes. People with BPD do legitimately have a different style, context, and understanding of socialization. Just like Autism.
And just like Autism, PWBPD deserve relationship accomodations and their unique socialization style respected.
They may need more attention, or more verbal assurance. Thats accomodation!!
Some people with BPD cannot read nonverbal affection or affirmation. They need it said to them. And being extra clear with them - is accomdation.
Yes, people with NPD may need support, or affirmation, or for you to be clear with your approval, or acknowledge their accomplishments instead of acting like their behavior is expected.
THAT'S ACCOMODATION!!
Like we can understand that Autism and ADHD comes with different patterns of socialization that makes our relationships look different than those of neurotypicals-
So why wouldn't that be the same with them????
I feel like denying people with BPD or NPD or people who are Bipolar their neurodivergency denies them the accomodations they so desperately need.
People with PDs get punished and scrutinized for the way they communicate and their needs in relationships - JUST LIKE AUTISM AND ADHD
Instead of trying to get them to 100% conform to the idea and image of neurotypical relationships can we realize that the people around them will have to meet them halfway in understanding their CURRENT communication style
And that these people are NOT a burden because they require so.
The same as us. Coming to understand an autistic family member or friend means understanding you may need to be clearer, or more direct than with others.
Coming to understand a family member with BPD for instance means understanding you need to direct with affection, motives, and your feelings.
The same is true for all of Cluster B including Antisocial Personality Disorder.
Call them neurodivergent - so we can accommodate them. That way they aren't forced to use coping mechanisms when others around them refuse to acknowledge their needs.
For the love of god stop expecting them to conform 24/7. Stop expecting them to understand everyone else's communication skills when no one does the same for them STOP
GOSH
Like.... Can we give them accomodations now. Can we.

Hi I'm rewatching Psych (2006) and have found some glaring similarities between Shawn Spencer and Bruce Wayne:
This is very important research. Do not scroll >:(
Bruce Wayne and Shawn Spencer
Not Your Average Detective TM
Works with the local police department, solves crimes in the most illegal way possible
Definitely needs to see a therapist, literally would rather die
Puts on an elaborate show to lie about his identity but he really doesn’t need to be that dramatic about it???? Calm down 🤨
Barely one step above a silly cartoon character, but it is very close
Has a father figure who constantly vocalizes they did not raise him like this while also cleaning up his messes (with love, of course. And sarcasm)
Autistic Swag. Unmedicated.
Hyper-observant with incredible deductive reasoning skills to the point that others are convinced he has supernatural abilities
✨ Breaking and entering ✨
Sleeps in his man cave more than in his actual bed
Homoerotic tension with a grumpy salt-and-pepper detective (if you squint)
Has a psychotic mortal enemy who insists they’re friends despite attempting to kill his family members on several occasions through fun little games and riddles
Owns a business
Wants to lie down and take a nap but if he does then he’ll be left alone with his thoughts so he instead performs dangerous acts of heroism, knowing full well that said dangerous acts do not promise a paycheck
COMMITS TO THE BIT
Way smarter than he publicly lets on
Wanted in several foreign countries, probably
His best friend is both tired of his shit and constantly enabling his weird antics despite having a serious day job because they know he is Much Worse when left unsupervised and they are secretly also just as unhinged
Has mad sexual tension with a concerning amount of criminals
Casually tries to walk off a bullet wound, worrying everyone
Lives in a major coastal city with perpetually constant weather conditions and a surprisingly high crime rate
Bisexual, Canon Be Damned
And yet the straight ship? Still Iconic
Uses his ditzy, flamboyant playboy image to simultaneously protect his biggest secret and hide his deeply scarring childhood trauma
Is babygirl
Bruce Wayne
Orphan
Outwardly has a dark, pessimistic outlook on life
Secretly hopeful and would do anything to make his loved ones happy
Won't shoot a gun but will beat the crap out of you
Bats on everything
Lives on the East Coast
Actually has Autism AND ADHD but his sidekick has more ADHD, making him the default Autism solidarity
Has health insurance
Shawn Spencer
Child of divorce
Outwardly hopeful and would do anything to make his loved ones happy
Secretly has a dark, pessimistic outlook on life
Doesn't know hand-to-hand combat but is a great shot
Pineapples on everything
Lives on the West Coast
Actually has ADHD AND autism but his sidekick has more Autism, making him the default ADHD solidarity
Does not have health insurance
YES THIS WAS VERY NECESSARY THANK YOU AND GOODNIGHT
Feel free to add stuff if you also love Psych :D I'm on my third rewatch now

Note
Echolalia is the meaningless repetition of words and phrases and it's usually associated with mental conditions like Autism, ADHD, developmental or language delays, Tourette's, or schizophrenia.
So, if you have the time, do you think you could write a spencer reid x male reader who has echolalia. Maybe reader is a new BAU member and keeps repressing it bc he knows what it's associated with, and doesn't want the team to view him as 'unstable' or 'stupid'. Maybe Reid overhears him doing it and reader panics?
Thanks in advance, I love your writing!
circles [ s.r ]
spencer reid x gn!reader ||| hurt/comfort ||| 2.7k ||| masterlist!!
WARNINGS: reader is insecure, reader has echolalia, self deprecation
a/n: i did write this with a male reader in mind but gender really didn’t come up at all so-
Tumblr media
You were working for the FBI, who would’ve thought.
It’s one of those jobs that people always talk about like it’s some fictional job that no-one actually does. But here you are, seven months into working with the Behavioural Analysis Unit of the FBI and living your best life.
Well, the best life you could when your job consisted of tracking down extremely dangerous and deranged individuals who had no regard for human life anyway.
Your co-workers were nice, the work hours were okay, and you got to brag to your parents about the fact that you rode on a private jet every few weeks.
You just wished it was easier to form friendships with your team.
It wasn’t that they were hard to talk to. They were all wonderful. It was just that little voice in the back of your head that told you that you weren’t a real member of the team.
You’d joined after the rest of them after all.
They were already a tight-knit unit before you’d passed the academy training, and by some measure of insanity you’d managed to squeeze yourself in alongside them.
Your sure that if you opened yourself up more that they’d accept you into their ‘work family’ with no holds barred, but when it came to keeping your professional image, the best thing you could do was keep your mouth shut.
Having an unbreakable habit of repeating arbitrary things that someone had mentioned sometimes hours before was not the best thing when it came to forming relationships with others.
It was odd and out of place and made you look like a weirdo. It made you feel like a weirdo. Like you weren’t normal.
You were a fully grown adult for god’s sake, not a four year old.
You’d keep it under wraps for the most part, locked away in your head as you bite your tongue at every urge to repeat the way Emily had said ‘whipped cream’ when talking about her hot chocolate in the office a few weeks ago.
Keeping your lips pressed into a tight line as the tones of Morgan’s ringtone echoed through your head so you wouldn’t hum it to yourself when working through your files.
Of course, the minute you got home you’d drop the effort and just succumb to saying ‘wheels up in thirty’ to yourself every ten minutes whilst washing your dishes, but it didn’t really matter when you were at home.
Because you were at home. Alone. With no one to judge you.
“Circles…” You furrow your eyebrows as you stare blankly at the map in front of you.
Spencer had been called out of the police station to go and examine one of the victims’ bodies post-autopsy, and so he’d left you in charge of the geographical profile in the meantime. “Find the circles,”
You weren’t as gifted as Spencer, nor as experienced as him, especially in his specialty of geographical profiles, but he’d taken the time to explain his thought process to you before leaving, and now it was the only thing running through your mind.
Everything was made out of circles Spencer had told you. Geographical profiles were comprised of circles. Find the circles and therefore find the comfort zones.
Find the circles.
“…find the circles-”
“You’re doing good,” You almost jump out of your skin when you hear Spencer’s voice form the entrance of the room, physically jolting as you’re ripped from your own mind and forced to remember that there are in fact other people here and you’ve just spent the last twenty minutes muttering to yourself about circles like an idiot.
“Oh- I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you- I uh- Just got back from the coroner’s office and I- Just thought I should check on you- Sorry,” You can see the change in Spencer’s eyes once he realises he’s caught you off guard, profusely apologising like he’d done something wrong when he was literally just doing his job and it was your fault for being an idiot and jumping at someone walking into the room of a public police station during an investigation.
“It’s fine, don’t worry about it,” You press your lips into an awkward smile as he cautiously makes his way across the room to get a better look at your scribbling on the map.
“Looks like you found all the circles,”
“Huh-”
“You were talking to yourself about ‘finding the circles’ and from what I can see you’ve actually marked them out perfectly,”
You almost dig yourself into a hole right there in the middle of the police station’s conference room.
You’d being talking to yourself again, and Spencer heard you. Not only that, it was something that Spencer had told you in the first place.
You can feel yourself descending into internal madness as Spencer takes one of the whiteboard pens to mark out something else on the map in front of you. God he probably thinks that you’re a weirdo now. I mean who catches their coworker repeating something they’d said almost and hour ago to themselves over and over again and thinks they’re not a weirdo?
You try and judge Spencer’s expression, scanning his face with your eyes to catch any trace of uncomfortableness in his eyes or a judging in his eyebrows. But you don’t find anything.
Then again Spencer had always been hard for you to read, probably because every time you did try to read his expression you got distracted looking at the freckles dappled across his nose and the way his hair curls against his forehead and the way his lips parted slightly when he focused on drawing a line over your red circle on the map and-
Focus.
You’ve already dug yourself into a deep enough hole repeating yourself over and over again, you didn’t also need to be caught trying to eat him with you eyes. God you are so screwed.
“Are you alright?” Spencer’s voice again catches you off guard as it forces you back into reality once more, and you turn your eye up towards his as he tilts his head at you, mild concern written across his features. “You uh- kind of zoned out,”
“Yeah I’m uh- I’m gonna-” You lamely point over your shoulder towards the door, retreating backwards so you could find the bathroom and wallow in your own self-pity for a few minutes.
“Are you sure? I can keep teaching you how to do a geographical profile if you’d like,” You curse Spencer’s moral character at his question. You don’t want to say no to him. He was a great guy who was passionate about his job and was going out of his way to teach you something that would then make your job easier.
“No- it’s alright- don’t worry about it-” You purse your lips into a straight line with a small shake of your head, hand braced on the door handle and reminding you that there was in fact solace from your stupidity on the other side.
“Did I make you uncomfortable? If I did then I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to catch you off guard like that,” Spencer rung the whiteboard pen in his hands as he spoke, and it almost made you collapse at the sight. He looked genuinely guilty, like he was actually physically upset at the prospect he might’ve caused you discomfort.
“No- you haven’t-” You sigh, dragging your hand down your face as you mentally punch yourself for making Spencer believe that he’d caused you any discomfort. He had, but that was because you were being idiotic and insecure, that wasn’t his fault. “I’m just being stupid, ignore me,”
You can see his mind run through your conversation with him, trying to find out when he might’ve made you feel uncomfortable without meaning to.
“You really didn’t-”
“Was it me mentioning that I overheard you speaking to yourself?”
Your lack of a response answers his question.
“It’s not uncommon for people to speak to themselves you know, it’s not something to be embarrassed about, in fact, studies have shown that talking to yourself during an activity like what you were doing with the profile can help boost short-term memory,”
But that wasn’t what you were doing. You weren’t repeating it because it was helping you remember how to do a geographical profile, you just were. There wasn’t a reason.
“Right…”
You wonder Spencer can read your mind as his expression furrows slightly at your response, and you can again see the cogs turning in his head as he tries to figure out whether or not his assessment was actually correct.
“Reid it’s really fine don’t worry about it,” Your attempt to shut down his internal analysis of your previous conversation is again shut down by Spencer, who waves his hand dismissively at you with a tight knit in his eyebrows.
“No, I made you feel uncomfortable and I want to know why so that I don’t do it again,” Spencer’s kindness is both a blessing and a curse you’ve come to realise, and as much as you are majorly appreciative of his efforts to form an emotional bridge with you, you’re also insanely embarrassed about the fact that his one off comment had affected you so much in the first place.
“I just-” You sigh. Do you tell him? He doesn’t seem to have noticed so maybe you can get away with it, lock it back up in your head and never repeat anything ever again unless you are securely in the safety of your own home. “I don’t know, I have this stupid habit of repeating things that other people say to me and-”
Well so much for locking it up.
“I just don’t want to be seen as some weirdo,”
Spencer blinks at you like you’ve got three heads and you seriously consider jumping out of the window to escape the situation.
“See, now you’re staring at me like i’m insane,” You drag your hand down your face, and you can feel your throat close up like you’re going to cry. It feels stupid, crying because of something trivial like this, but when you’ve buried it for so long because you’re scared of what other people are going to think about you of course it’s going to amplify into something massive.
“No- No- I’m not- I-” Spencer waves his hand at you, and you can see desperation flood his features as he tries to explain himself.
“It’s fine, I get it, I’m mentally unstable-”
“No. No that’s not what I was thinking at all,“ Spencer shakes his head at you adamantly, soft brown curls bouncing around his face with every turn of his head.
So he was right, partly anyway. It was the fact that he’d brought up that you were speaking to yourself. But it wasn’t that, it was the fact that you were repeating something that he had told you and you’d thought it freaked him out. “Echolalia is a fairly common thing, I do it myself sometimes,”
Your eyebrows furrow slightly, although whether it’s because of the new term Spencer said to you like you already knew what it meant or the fact that he openly admitted to doing the same thing with no shame or embarrassment you weren’t sure. “What?”
“Echo…lalia?” Spencer mirrored the furrowing of your eyebrows with his own as he drags out the word, seemingly surprised that you didn’t know the official term for what you were describing. “It’s the subconscious repetition of things that you hear around you,”
“Oh,”
“It’s very common in children during the language development stage, but it can follow through into adulthood in some people,” Spencer takes your short reply as an invitation for him to explain it to you. Hopefully by doing so he would be able to convince you that it wasn’t something to be ashamed of or embarrassed about. “It’s especially common in individuals with autism, with roughly 85% of autistic people experiencing echolalia,”
“So, you’re saying I’m autistic?” You blink at him with a confused expression, like you’re not exactly sure how you’re supposed to feel.
“Not necessarily, echolalia is common in a number of neurodivergencies, it’s just most commonly associated with autism,” Spencer gives you that awkward smile you’ve come to associate him with. “It’s really nothing to be embarrassed about, it’s just your brain’s way of processing information,”
“But-”
“Really, you shouldn’t worry about it, it doesn’t mean there’s anything ‘wrong’ with you at all,” Spencer’s not one for interrupting other people, but he can tell that you’ve still not come to terms with it even after his explanation.
You don’t say anything else, giving him a short nod and stuffing your hands in your pockets with a pursed smile.
“Now, about the profile, are you sure you wouldn’t like me to continue showing you how to complete one? From what I can see you’ve got a natural talent for it,” Spencer gestures back over to your markings on the map and you follow it with your eyes.
“I- yeah alright,”
“Great,” Spencer gives you a smile as he picks up one of the whiteboard pens and makes his way back over to the board. “Okay, so you’ve already marked out all of the crime scenes, so the next step is to chronologically connect them all,”
You only half listen to Spencer’s explanation as he teaches you, mind still focused on your conversation with him. He didn’t find you weird like you’d expected him to. He didn’t think you were unstable or not mentally sound. He did it himself.
That last point was what really stuck with you.
He did it himself.
And he wasn’t ashamed to admit it to you. You assume the rest of the team knew as well, which means they probably also wouldn’t care.
So- what? You’ve been freaking out over nothing?
That made you feel stupider than your repetition ever did.
God you really needed to get yourself together.
And that started with learning to trust your teammates not to judge you for something that you couldn’t control. One down, six to go.

Have you ever found it worth floating the possibility to probably autistic people and maskers (close friends, family, etc) that they might be autistic?
I have tried it a couple times and it seems to just make people get really defensive and upset with me (which I can handle), but then also people start to hold me at arms length. My intention is to bring us closer together by talking about our shared struggles and how to improve our lives (which was totally fine in the past talking about our shared traits without the autism label), but attaching the possibility of autism to it has the opposite effect. The people I’m around are VERY adhd-affirming, and I see how having that connection over the mutual struggle brings my adhder loved-ones together, and I really crave that type of connection with the people I already love and have so much in common with.
You shouldn't tell someone what you think their identity ought to be, no matter your intentions.
For one, many people who are masking or undiagosed harbor deeply stigmatized views about what Autism even is, and so they will not take the statement as a positive declaration of belonging, but rather an accusation that they have failed to conceal what is most frightening or vulnerable about themselves. Exposing their most hidden side will make them feel very unsafe and judged, even if your intention is the opposite.
Telling someone that you think they might be neurodivergent also suggests that you know them better than they know themselves, which is untrue, and may feel invasive and unwelcome to hear.
Your friend could be the most obviously Autistic to ever Autistic from your point of view, but the choice of how to self-define still falls solely on them. There are many different ways for a person to interpret their experience, and they might arrive at some other word or concept that better does their experience justice from their perspective.
our identities exist to help us make sense of our lives and express who we are to people, on our terms. Most neurodivergent people are absolutely sick of always getting defined from an external point of view. We don't need member of our own community doing that to us further.
If you have benefitted from coming to understand yourself as Autistic, you can and should speak about that openly and positively. That will be enough incentive for anyone else in your life who is neurodivergent to explore the possibility for themselves. If you vibe easily with someone because you share traits in common or seem to naturally understand one another, let that be enough. Tell the person you feel comfortable around them and that spending time with them helps you to accept yourself. That is a much greater compliment than telling someone who they must be.

UAAAAA IMG OMG OMG OMFGGGG I LOVE YOUR LOS.GIJINKASSSSSS THEYRE SOOOO COOL!!!! DO YOU HAVE ANY HC FOR THEM???
MY FIRST ASK LETS FUCKING GOOOO you have 'first' comment priviledges
okay that aside, I do have a few for the LoS! I've been in PMTOK since the game launched :) Get ready for a lot of text, pal!
Headcanon time.
Olly created each member very carefully, and let their personalities develop over training, which all took place before the events of PMTOK. Olivia didn't know about his full plan during this time, she thought he'd just build a kingdom, not take over existing ones.
Olly was made years before the 2020 Origami Festival, giving the Craftsman time to raise him and stuff. This made the betrayal harder on Olly.
Olly has dark magic, and Olivia has light magic. The Origami Craftsman made them to represent Yin and Yang, and to create balance in the potential Origami Kingdom.
Olly is EXTREMELY ATTACHED to the LoS, they felt like his only family after feeling so betrayed by the Origami Craftsman (and later, Olivia).
The Origami Craftsman actually made Stapler for Olly when he was younger! Olly's had Stapler since it was a puppy :)
Colored Pencils draws himself and the Legion in his freetime. They're his family and he cherishes them.
Rubber Band and Hole Punch make a great duo, with Hole Punch’s Dances and Rubber Band’s singing. They like to take turns with the spotlight.
Hole Punch has ADHD, and can't pay attention very well. He’s found that music helps him focus. (this may or may not be projecting)
Scissors will often hide their emotions, in fear that people will see them as “weak” if they’re shown to be emotionally vulnerable. They only trust the rest of the LoS with their emotional state.
Tape acts as the "most mature" of the LoS, he keeps everyone in line. They all see him as a sort of older brother figure.
Tape knows a lot of fun ocean facts! He likes to study sea stuff in his free time.
Scissors was actually pretty chill before Olly initated the war. They only discovered their love for bloodshed and sadistic nature during the training. Things got 100% worse when they realized they were the last Legion member alive, that completely broke them mentally.
Hole Punch's voice can influence the other LoS members to a degree, he uses this to calm them all down. This only works because they're all connected to Olly's magic, so it doesn't work on others. (like Mario, Bobby, Olivia, etc etc)
Colored Pencils uses He/They/It, Rubber Band uses It/Its, Hole Punch uses He/They, Tape uses He/Him, and Scissors uses They/Them.
okay just olly headcanons this time except a lot of it is projecting onto him
Olly is extremely self conscious about his public image and being perfect.
Olly has ADHD and Autism, but sees this as a problem and something that makes him “imperfect”.
Olly tends to fidget with small objects when he’s bored, like his earrings or the end of his cape.
Olly has an extremely hard time sleeping, much to his dismay.
Olly tends to shut himself in his room a lot, drowning out the rest of the world with music.
Olly loves piano music, and tends to listen to it to calm down. He also knows how to play piano, this headcanon is due to the little piano melody in the beginning of his battle theme (0:06 to 0:10). Faster melodies when he’s stressed or angry, softer melodies when he’s calm and content.
Olly seems like the kind of person who would know the lyrics to all the disney villain songs, but wouldn't sing around people. (He specifically likes “Be Prepared” from the Lion King)
Before Olly went mad with power and noticed the “scribble” on his stomach, the Origami Craftsman would sing/hum lullabies to Olly to help him sleep or calm down. Olly later passes this through the family by doing the same with Olivia and the Legion to help them sleep or calm down.
He for the love of god cannot control his anger, he tries to stay composed but my GOD is he petty.
Instead of 4th of July, The Mushroom Kingdom has the Origami Festival on July 17th. July 17 is also Olly’s birthday.
Olly hates emotions in general- not from other people, from himself. He hates feeling things and a lot of the time tries to hide his emotions.
Olly is actually very fun loving! He enjoys singing and dancing, festivals, etc.. he just 'grew up too fast' and prioritizes his kingly duties. He thinks it isn't okay for him to "be childish". He envies Olivia's innocence.
Olly takes a huge interest in the legends surrounding the Crystal Stars and the Shadow Queen, even more so since the Craftsman is a descendant of one of the Four Heroes. He rereads the stories about it a lot.
My version of events
Me and my sister got a sort of AU thing going on- and we both say it's canon we're nintendo real
During the ending festival, Mario thinks back to everything that happened, and how Olivia and Olly didn't really have a chance to LIVE. Sure, they were alive, but they didn't get to experience the world as it is, they didn't get to be kids. (Olly is 18, Olivia is 15) Mario decided to do what Olly did.. and with the help of Luigi, Bowser, Peach, and the Toads, the 1000 Paper Crane wish happened again. Olly, Olivia, and the LoS were all brought back to life. They all reside in Peach's Castle until Olly can handle his emotional/mental state and create his own Origami Kingdom, allied with the Mushroom and Koopa Kingdoms. Olly learns by observing how Peach rules and acting as a sort of assistant to her! (Later viewing Peach as a mother figure)
Olivia ends up meeting the rest of Mario's sidekicks, like Kersti, Goombella, Huey, and the Captain of the Odyssey... Cappy! Together they go on adventures in the Odyssey and explore the world, able to have fun and excitement if Mario is too busy. Olivia gets a good kick out of it and is more than happy to go, she sends postcards to Olly.
The Legion of Stationary all settle down and begin focusing on their passions rather than being soldiers for Olly, since he no longer needs that of them. Pencils persues his art, Rubber Band persues it's acting career, Hole Punch decides to help entertain Toad Town with music and dance, Tape begins working with Captain T. Ode to be closer to the oceans.. and Scissors decides to make use of their love for combat, giving training sessions to Toads who want to help protect the Kingdom.
Maybe I'll go on about the AU in another post, this is already long enough- BETCHA DIDN'T EXPECT ALL THAT, HUH?

Educated Self Diagnosis flag! (NOT A TRANSID TERM)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Flag color meanings :
Black - Self discovery and recognition within oneself Gray - The struggles that beings that cannot go to a doctor or professional, that have been fake claimed, brushed off, or pushed aside and told they were "normal", or those who have been hurt by ableists. White - Neurodivergencies and "hidden" disabilities Red - Physical disabilities Yellow - Extensive research on disorders from medical sources and sources by professionals Blue - Being peer reviewed by those with the disorder or those who are also educated on the topic Heart and lightning symbol - Love for beings and showing that educated self diagnosis is used for good and good intentions, and that educated self diagnosis is not being transid or faking a disorder, and understanding that faking is a conscious choice, where educated self diagnosis is seeing things in yourself you cannot control and making a realization.
What is educated self diagnosis? This is a definition in our own words in our experience. Just made a flag for it. It is not the same thing as claiming transid terms, pretending and faking a disorder, or attention seeking (which in itself, attention seeking can also be a symptom of other disorders, whereas faking is a conscious choice.) Educated self diagnosis is spending your own time researching a disorder you think you may have, getting peer reviewed by others, making connections, and coming to a conclusion. It dont have to go all in that order, but the conclusion always comes last. And we say EDUCATED because of the time you spend researching, educating yourself on it before you make a conclusion. This also helps those that cannot go to a doctor, those who are still living with family members that wont let them go, and other purposes.
But in the end, if it turns out those who originally thought they had one disorder but turns out to not, it is fine. Mistakes happen, and they can make a proper conclusion.
Yet again, THIS IS NOT A TRANSID TERM, and never will be. This is our flag we coined, and it is not intended to be used by transids. Im sorry. You have your own terms.
Why do we support educated self diagnosis? In our own experience, we first found out we had NPD and BPD long before others and medical professionals did; on NPD especially. We spent a couple to a few years researching it, getting peer reviewed, and finally came to a conclusion, then got an official conclusion. Second, we didnt even think we had BPD, but we tried to deny it, even though other people already assumed we had it, we matched up with so many symptoms, and our close friend with BPD told us we most likely had it.
And guess what? Same story with our autism and ADHD. peer reviewed, did research, made connections, came to a conclusion long before any professional ever said anything. Turns out we were just good at masking it.
It helped us significantly. Us years ago wouldve denied self-diagnosing, but seeing educated self-diagnosing, and how much it helped us, we greatly appreciate it. It made us realize so many things, helped us uncover disorders we denied we ever had, made us feel at home. It helped us realize there wasnt something wrong with us, it was just these disorders that hindered us.
It helped and encouraged us to go to professionals, and "confirm" our conclusions.
Another reason to support educated self diagnosis is because of how fucked up the medical system is, especially towards treatment towards AFAB beings. We do want to burn down the corrupt medical system, after all.
Sorry this was long.
Any one on any side of syscourse is free to use. All we ask is that transids to not use this term, you make us uncomfortable and do not want this flag to earn a negative reputation. Thank you.
If you are alone out there, we love you. We see you. We want to spread word of educated self-diagnosis in a positive light.
If you are against this, uncomfortable with it, or us, block us. All you have to do is block us, and we will be gone. But we will forever be supportive of educated self diagnosis, as it helped us, and will help other beings in need.
REMEMBER : THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO BE USED BY TRANSIDS
Thank you for listening.

Tips for helping your autistic child thrive at home
So, I'm not a parent myself, but I did grow up in a household where both myself and my sibling (both AFAB) had undiagnosed autism, and we're pretty sure our father is autistic, too. I've also got some teaching experience where I supported neurodivergent children and their families. Based on this experience and my own research, here are some tips you can use at home to help your autistic child thrive. These are biased towards my particular experience and may not apply to your own child, but they should give you an idea of the sorts of things you can do.
Give lots of emotional reassurance - the world is seriously overwhelming for an autistic child. Children's brains are still developing, and the younger they are or the greater their needs are the more help they will need with co-regulation of their emotions. Bear in mind that, especially for AFAB children, they may mask heavily at school and present absolutely no behavoural problems only to come home and explode. This is because home is their safe place where they can show more authentically how they are really feeling.
Be led by your child's needs and interests, and be prepared for these to change over time - many autistic people develop intense interests in specific things, which are known as 'special interests'. The stereotypical special interests most people have heard of are things like trains, but be aware that some girls who are really, REALLY into ponies are actually expressing neurodivergent traits. Showing your support for exploring these interests is hugely beneficial (and makes present buying a breeze lol). Of course, autism is a spectrum and presents differently in different autistic people. Many like the structure of a routine, for example, but don't force a visual timetable on your child if this is clearly something that isn't helping them. As your child gets older, their interests and needs will change with them, so be prepared to adapt and keep the lines of communication open.
Be prepared to give your child extra support navigating friendships and social situations - for many autistic people, social situations are highly stressful for lots of different reasons, and for children who are still learning how to navigate in the world this is doubly true. Encourage your child to develop friendships with others who respect them, but accept that they may not always communicate in ways that are socially expected (eg they may prefer parallel play). Autistic children can sometimes be more vulnerable to bullying or being taken advantage of, so ensure your child knows how to communicate boundaries and what to do if another child (or adult) is causing problems. In more general social situations such as going to the doctor or on holiday, your child may be more anxious and unsure of what is expected of them. Practicing these situations before hand through 'make believe' play is a great way of giving them a chance to develop the appropriate social scripts and feel more at ease.
Be aware that co-morbid conditions are often present alongside autism - it is very common that autistic children will have at least one other physical or mental co-morbid condition (basically means it occurs alongside). My sibling, for example, also has ADHD, PTSD, BPD, anorexia, dyscalculia, anxiety, depression, IBS, anaemia, eczema and insomnia (and yes I DID get permission to share that, it's all in their insta bio anyway). Be on the lookout for other symptoms not necessarily covered by autism and advocate for your child to get the support they need. Another thing to bear in mind is that autism often runs in families - if you or your child's other biological parent recognise traits either in yourselves or in family members, there's probably a reason why.
I really hope my tips were useful to you. As I mentioned already, your child may have very different support needs from me. You know them best.
Follow me for more tips - both for autistic adults and teenagers and parents of autistic children.

I will miss brett hand so much his brett-centered episodes are truly my favorites of our 2 seasons. They felt like being faced with a strange picture clear relatability (the brett hand people pleaser episode🥲🥲) Do you have any particular episodes you will miss seeing the most? (I.e episodes of reagan’s family or other character centered episodes)
I initially misread this ask at first and didn’t know what you meant, but after rethinking it I got what you were talking about! Yeah Season 1’s part 2 had some great Brett content. (I liked thinking about these so I probably will come back and add more or revisit)
Episodes I particularly would’ve loved to see:
- JR & / or Rand busting out of Shadow Prison or just Shadow Prison hijinks
- Background on Andre’s family and life — we’ve heard mentions and hints but I wanna’ KNOW, not speculate
- Background on Gigi’s family and life — we know her personality and character, but not what’s behind it, and I’m dying to know
- I’ll just miss JR Anything with JR at all, I will miss my emotional support AARP member
- Alpha Beta getting limbs and maybe, just maybe, wifi access
- CLOSURE ON WHERE ROBO REAGAN IS
- Rafe Masters and Skullfinger’s wedding
- the unveiling of who the council is + Reagan joining
- Glenn with a focus on his family or the relationship he’s got with his daughter + his background (I wanna see him as a southern bubba SO FUCKIN’ BAD)
- Reagan and her mom bonding and maybe recovering their relationship?
- BISEXUAL REAGAN — YEAH, I SAID IT! I’ve been dying to see her with a woman or a femme after the dating episode in part one and Alpha Beta pulls up the results of who’s compatible with her — I saw women WHERE’S THE GIRLFRIEND
- just silly, peculiar bullshit. It’s all so strange and batshit that a n y t h i n g could happen — it’s one of the reasons why I love this show (and why my sona is overpowered like a middle schoolers oc)
- more of Brett and Reagan’s friendship just GOD i love them your honor / i love seeing the golden retriever adhd and the black cat autism friendship play out it’s FUN
Additions Below: (the first several credited to @swimmingcreatortyrant who’s tags on their latest art made my brain explode — plus the alt version of that art on their insta)
- where is Orrin and what is he up to?
- the DEATH ARENA??
- will Ron Staedtler appear again?

what are your neurodivergent headcanons for hq characters?
asdfjhgfds sorry this has been in my askbox for a few days ive been busy w/ Life Stuff TM but anyways ND haikyuu headcanons lets gooo
hinata:
ik bc hes Sunshiney and Loud lots of ppl read hinata as adhd, which i can deffo see, but personally i read him as autistic
hes extroverted and good at adopting introverts (kageyama, kenma, yachi, tsukki) but when u stop to think abt it hes also actually kinda bad at social ques and 'normal' behaviour?? i think ppl dont notice bc hes also rlly nice but hinata is actually pretty blunt lmao
his special interest is literally volleyball cmon now
its canon that he dislikes being in classes too long or doing homework bc he finds sitting still for too long difficult, both me and my autistic older brother used to get up and pace around our classrooms when we were younger
even though hes rlly athletic and has insane reflexes obviously, hes also pretty clusmy and especially bad at judging distances which to me looks like dyspraxia which is really commonly comorbid w/ autism
ive also read a few fics where he has tourettes syndrome w/ body tic and i can deffo see why ppl would hc that
idk hes just reads as autistic so well in my mind like idk why its not a more common take
kageyama:
this one is less of a headcanon and moreso just interpreting the text correctly; hes definitely autistic
like its my belief that furudate either knowingly wrote kageyama as autistic or like based his personality off of an irl autistic person they knew or SOMETHING bc its actually insane how well he reads as autistic
the lack of social skills? the anger issues? the deep special interest in volleyball? the just wanting to express your feelings/opinions but coming off as rude but not knowing how to fix that? middle school being a living hell? having that one family member who Got you? the high level of skill in one particular area? hes literally the texboox definition of autism
even the little things like how he files his nails and jokes go over his head and he accidentally insults ppl bc hes calling it how he sees it and how he basically had no friends growing up bc he was too focused on volleyball and how he struggles to smile on command like!!! thats autism babe!!!!!!
oh also hes dyslexic bc im dyslexic and i say so
ushijima:
same as kageyama i bet he was either knowing written as autistic or based off of an irl person who is
blunt as all hell, monotone voice and facial expressions, volleyball as a special interest, bad at social interaction, accidentally rude, the list goes on and on
like his whole thing about how his left handedness makes him different but is also a gift that benefits him in some ways? thats a metaphor for neurodivergency dont @ me
oikawa:
i hc him as having narcisstic personality disorder, not in the ableist reddit-user 'all ppl w/ npd are evil manipulative abusers' way but in the ' i have npd and know what it actually looks like' way
hiding massive insecurities by acting like youre amazing?? that fuckin marina lyric thats like 'i feel like im the worst so i always act like im the best'?? that was abt oikawa tooru and npd
feeling threatened the second someone as good or better than you shows up? fixating on one specific thing that you have to be the best at? those are npd as fuck traits
the way he can basically get along with anyone and adjust his play style to suit them but only has a few close friendships where he can let his true personality rlly shine through
hes literally so npd coded augh <3
bokuto:
i read him as adhd and having cyclothymia
i think he was unmedicated in high school and unknowingly had depressive and hypomanic episodes which affected his play
he also very much reads as having rejection sensitive dysphoria if u ask me
and the way he talks and bounces around and has All That Damn Energy gives me adhd vibes, esp pared w/ his poor volume control ad the way he ignores social cues lol
okay quickfire round bc im getting tired of typing
atsumu is autistic, so is osamu for that matter, theyre just at very different points on the spectrum and rub each other up the wrong way a lot of the time bc of it
kita is also autistic bc no neurodivergent person is that particular about doing things the 'right' way
hoshiumi is autistic and adhd
asahi and yamaguchi read like they struggled w/ anxiety and depression
sakusa has ocpd and ocd (contamination ocd specifically) and mysophobia
kyoutani has aspd, again not in a 'aspd = violent agressive psychopaths' way but in a 'i actually have a cluster b personality disorder' way, and adhd also
kenma is autistic and has social anxiety
yachi has social anxiety too bc cmon now
tsukki reads to me as having chronic depression, i think i could also make a case for him being autistic too ngl
tendou is some flavour of neurodivergent, probally audhd, probably some other stuff, idk but hes definitely not neurotypical
like hinata, lev reads as autistic to me even tho hes got that goodball energy thatd make lots of ppl read him as adhd bc like,, he just fuckin sucks at social interaction like he is accidentally rude all the damn time lmaoo
fukunaga and aone are both autistic w/ selective mutism and/or partial to moderate non-verbalness
obviously its none of my business and i think having headcanons abt irl ppl is Fucking Weird but i wouldnt be surprised if furudate themself was autistic bc truly so many characters in haikyuu can be read that way if u ask me, although maybe im just projecting lol

Hi, Tali! If you don't mind answering, what do you think of the Jewish Stilinski / Gajos Family headcanon? What about the headcanon of Stiles with ADHD and autism? Finally, do you have headcanons focused on Teen Wolf werewolf culture? For example, I find it interesting that, based on ravens and their symbiotic relationship with wolves, werewolves think of ravens as good luck charms or even allies. Perhaps, they will call someone particularly close to them who is not supernatural, their raven. I don't know. I find the apparent hatred, or reluctance, that the series portrayed for born werewolves rather sad. Thank you so much.
There's a lot of questions here, so i'll go through them one at a time!
Jewish Stilinski/Gajos Family headcanon: It's not one I personally follow; while i like to try and incorporate a little more polish culture with the Stilinski family, I don't really do religious aspects (and yes i know that you can be culturally jewish without being religiously jewish, but it's also not part of how I view him). But i do love the idea, and of course heavily support others bringing it to life for themselves! Admittedly, if I were to make anyone in tw jewish, I usually see Coach as jewish? I don't even know why? It's just permanently there in my brain. o.O But I think that there's a lot of depth you could go into making Stiles/the Stilinski/the Gajos family jewish, and so much that could be added to his character and his parents that way! ADHD & Autistic Stiles: I'm assuming you're specifically talking about him being ADHD AND Autistic, since the ADHD part is canon. And again, while it's not something I personally see/headcanon, I'm still very supportive of others hc'ing it. Autistic characters are rare, and well-written autistic characters even more so. Rep in general for Autistic people is abysmally hard to find if you're looking for canon rep, so I have no hardships with those who hc they're way into getting some. There's plenty of things/behaviors/ideas about Stiles that would support that hc, and people exploring that is awesome! I mean, honestly there's not really headcanons that I don't support, since they're headcanons and people can think whatever it is they wanna think. XD Whether or not I share those headcanons is a wildly different story. XD
Headcanons focused on TW werewolf culture/customs: I have SO MANY. The problem is that I have so many, and they're such integral parts of how I view things, that it's genuinely hard for me to identify what my hc's are, because they're basically canon to me. There's pack bonds being a real, magical thing with physical effects on wolves (this isn't canon, despite what cora says about losing pack members being like losing limbs, and what they say in s2 about packs with more wolves being literally stronger faster, etc. They never say a pack BOND is a thing). There's the Alpha Imperative to protect and care for the pack like essentially a parent, paralleling real life pack structures. That it's not about being dominant, it's about being a Guardian/Caretaker for the rest of the pack. That there's a reason why someone wouldn't WANT to be an Alpha, that there's some kind of downside to all that power, or at least a responsibility that some wouldn't be willing to deal with. The idea that werewolves can't use magic. that you can either be magic, or have magic, and since werewolves ARE magic, they can't control it, unless it's werewolf specific, like the stuff with their claws, etc. So a werewolf couldn't cast a spell, but a witch could. The idea that having control isn't about Not Shifting, it's about being able to CHOOSE whether you shift or not. A fully shifted werewolf isn't less in control than a non-shifted one. If a non-shifted wolf CAN"T shift? They have no control, just as a wolf who can't HELP shifting has no control. True Control is about being Balanced in your ability to choose which way you sway in the shift. And continuing on from that, there's the idea that Werewolves aren't half wolf, half human. They're ALL werewolf, and there's no inner wolf they're fighting for control with or humanity to cling to. There's just…Them. Bitten wolves have new urges that they might Personify as an inner wolf, but especially bitten wolves DONT have that, because why would they? Heightened senses/alternative forms of communication being a THING for werewolves. They go off scent, sure, but also they speak with Body language and read emotions in your stance. That Derek and the Hales might not actually be so damn succinct and non-communicative as everyone assumes, and maybe they're just speaking a different language? Shifting as a general form of communication and behavior. The same as smiling or glaring, having eye flashes and showing fang being a Part of how they talk. It's not necessarily intimidation tactics, it's just…another form of squinting their eyes or winking or whatever other facial expressions humans use? They just have more options bc they have more facial features to work with. Full moons being a sort of….not holiday, but a Custom to werewolves. It's not just a horrific night of torture and pain. It's a night when wolves feel powerful and full of energy and magic and whether they have full moon runs or bonfire nights or parties, or even just mandatory pack nights, having the full moon mean something other than agony. Having a CONNECTION to the moon! Whether they see it as a deity or in general have a cultural respect for nature as a whole or just Feeling something standing in the moonlight, full moon or not. This thing that's so huge to them, having some other effects/meaning something to them!
There's loads more, but i also like your idea about ravens and connections to wolves! I actually have a wip that talks a lot about that concept ^_^ And you're right, it was really sad and disappointing that a show that was supposed to be about werewolves, treated them like the enemy and every glimpse we got into their culture just revealed more violence and hatred and viciousness and just....2 dimensional animalistic propaganda bullshit. Half the stories we heard about werewolves came from hunters! Also, apologies that this response keeps getting longer, tumblr wasn't letting me fucking post the reply bc i guess it was too long?

Vent again. If you cant read it. Wither: You can't let him do that! He can't be banging or throwing stuff! You think its funny but its- D-d:You need to stop being a drama queen. It doesn't mean anything! Stop it. Where did banging and throwing things get bad? (where did you get that from?!) He's not doing any harm Wither:But it sounds like he's trying to break his controller! [He has a PS5] B-o: WHAT DO YOU CARE?! YOU HAVE A MASK ON AND YOUR A JUNIOR! ITS CRINGY! Wither: And you're a sophomore! You should know not to- B-o: Shut up! No one asked! Aren't you embarrassed?!! This is what happened right now. My brother started to rage at a game and from my room, it sounded like he was banging his controller. I came out to see whats going on and he was yelling before this and hitting something. I told my sister to go to her room and that he was acting stupid. He got mad and insulted me and said I am a nobody and I am embarrassing. My sister got scared from him yelling so got my dad who was drinking. He came it and my brother went back to the game he was getting mad at for loosing and he laughed about it. I told him what happened and he still laughed about it. I got mad since he lets them both get away with things like this and I am tired of the insults. I hate that once they know I will be married to a woman that they won't want me around since like my brother has said and I shit you not he said this word for word "FAGS ARE MENTAL. THEY AREN'T HUMAN" My dad constantly wonders why one of his cousins who came out to them is never around, I can't blame, not at all. It's because none of them support them! They outright show they disappointed in them! My brother says that my dad and him HATE people who are gay or anything relating to it with a passion. They are more concerned of how they look than about anything else, my brother has to constantly remind me that I am more on the bigger side and that he's so embarrassed about it! He said that he will never say hi to me during school even when I say hi, he acts like he doesn't know me and says to others that he doesn't know me. He likes to make fun of me saying I won't get anyone. And even if I do, they will leave me since they never really loved me. I am so tired of this. I want to leave so bad but If I try to leave with another family member then my dad will start to guilt trip me and I don't want to leave because I don't want to leave my friends yet. I know I'm a damn disappointment to them. I know that shit but I have to be reminded over and over and over again. No wonder why I'm distant with them. I try so hard at school to make them proud but it can never make it last. I won first place somewhere big in my state but just "oh nice". thats it. I get Honor roll. "good and stay like that" I am so tired of it and I know I am still gonna push myself to try and get good grades but I know nothing I do will ever be good enough to make them proud of me. They ask why is it hard for me to talk to people, no shit its hard because If I say anything wrong to them, I would get hit. I would get yelled at for saying anything wrong. They told me I am not allowed to tell anyone about my situation, I can't talk to my councilors about this, I cant ask for help. Not even online. If I say something wrong, I feel like they would hate me. If I do something they don't like then I'm the piece of shit. I know they have said that I can talk to them but I feel like I cant since I dont know what they will say. I am scared, I am so fucking scared. I know non of them are bad or anything I am just terrified of them since they are so amazing and I can never amount to them in any way. I don't know what to do. If I eat how I normally do, im told to stop. My health problems are my fault and yeah maybe they are. but still at least be semi nice but no he makes fun of me that I cant breath right. To them ADHD and autism arent real. it's fake so people can be lazy. If I am friends with anyone who's like that then im the weirdo. I'm stupid to even get near them. im so done.

I felt like sharing a few resources and tips from someone who gets no therapy, has underlying other mental illnesses, and recently noticed I managed to get better. Here is a little story about me and my agoraphobia.
Around middle 2022 it started to fester. I have depression, ADHD and Autism already with other disorders that goes and in hand with these.
My first panic attack was on a train and ever since then I have never been able to go on one again. No bus, no trains.
I can ride the car and drive it after noticing that it's a familiar space and that really majorly helps.
I was not able to do grocery shopping for a few months, only when with a family member. Tried going alone more often, at first it was terrible. Depending on the day it went better or worse, especially when going in deeper and waiting in queue the anxiety symptoms got really bad.
After maybe 10 success positive ventures, I can tell that it got much better. Lately went twice, with others, and no signs of anxiety.
->collect positive moments and tell yourself you did well. The more positive moments you have, the better it gets. But it takes a lot of repetition.
I can fly the airplane, by preparing helpers such as "helper cards". I wrote on them a questio like needing help, and the knowledge there are always people who will help you (Stewardesses) helped majorly.
-> Sit next to the floor, at the outside to increase the feeling of safety, or rather to quell the fear of not being able to leave.
Bus and trains: No budging, it's my worst fear of agoraphobia. But, I went in once into the bus, and managed an entire minute to stay and sit until the symptoms overwhelmed me.
-> retelling this as an accomplishment rather than failure helps. I will try again to ride a station, which takes 2-3 Minutes when I dare to try again.
Eating with other people in a big place: was a no go, until I was told that nobody cares how you eat, sit, how long you take, as long as I enjoy myself and take my time it doesn't matter. This quelled my anxiety so much, that I was able to start eating when others were around me. Could be more of a general anxiety thing though, yet this sentence is important to think of when you feel weird when eating in front of or surrounded by others.
Going outside in general: can sometimes be still tough. I get the symptoms but lightly, but they get better after 10 minutes or more. It's the exposure to the outside basically and noticing nothing bad happens.
-> I bring someone with me, take short walks from one safe person to another. Bring water, headphones, Stim toy, whatever you need to feel comfortable. I take deep breaths into my belly, and count things I can see like objects and colors.
It helps me majorly to often ground myself and return to a calm state.
I hope someone finds this useful and inspiring. The tough step is to try and expose yourself to these fears. It took me an entire year to even get started, but the successes feel sweeter afterwards. You can do this!
And if you absolutely can't, it's alright. I know if I don't get over my fear of riding the train and bus again by myself like I used to all these years? Doesn't matter. Then so be it.
But all the other things I already managed to achieve are great ones. And I believe in you too, you are able to get your own achievements if you want to.

Prev anon here PLEASE say more, I love modern aus sm
*dramatic sigh*
*checks watch* I have hw to do but if you insist
au is honestly the vaguest way to phrase it but I love it nonetheless. I think that the main reason yous all like the tweets so much is they’re 100% my mind without incorrect quotes or anything involved so thank @finchfvkingcortez and the hour long convos we have for that because that shit is BIZARRE
so yeah. sorta modern/social media where the main shenanigans we talk about are race and albert dealing with god damn tiktok comments (cause we all know they can be WILD). the most fleshed out bits are specific character hcs so yous get that first
as per usual with modern aus, the manhattan newsies collectively live in a group home (and milk tf out of it just because it gets funny reactions online). they’re pretty chill with it, and do weekend/morning newspaper rounds for what’s basically pocket money let’s be honest
anyway
character hcs
race - he/him, trans and ‘aggressively bi’. he went through the whole she/her > she/they > they/them > he/they > he/him pipeline and will murder you if you bring it up. he’s dating albert and spot, spot basically on accident after albert dared him to flirt with her and they flirted back and massively just Vibes™️. I feel like I overuse him in tweets but he’s so dumb that he just works here. autism/adhd king, with a sprinkling of ptsd, and he does NOT take his meds ever, driving everyone insane but they love him anyways. italian and very passionate about it. has way too much clout on tiktok and farms his friends for it
albert - he/him, gay, dating finch, spot and race “somehow”. I pretty much combine sky and jacob with him, where he has two older and one younger brother. benji is with a foster family albert didn’t want to stay with and their older brothers are in an endless battle to get custody of them both (he jokes about it sm and they both hate him for it, like “you got custody yet???” “fuck you”). he has too many piercings to count because he does them himself whenever he gets bored and Does Not Learn that it’s a bad idea. dealt with cd when he was younger but it didn’t develop further. he knows like three phrases in portuguese and got into an argument with finch about him being wrong without realising he was speaking spanish once
jack - he/him and bi, dating katherine and davey (after kath put a gun to his head and made him ask davey out). he’s the identified Big Brother of the others and takes it comically seriously while also being exhausted of them all. by all technicalities he’s flagged on every train line that leave the city because he definitely has not made it halfway to new mexico once at 11, but that’s irrelevant he’d never do that again nope. adhd and some mild abandonment issues, hands are always covered in doodles and he also draws on everyone else too whether they want him to or not
davey - he/they, demiboy and gay, dating Jack and has absolutely zero idea how it happened (“I’m going out with jack…” “your sisters ex?” “…yeah?” “ok then🧍”). he’s much more of a weirdo than people give them credit for and comes out with thee most concerning statements completely unprompted like it’s nothing. jewish, autistic with a side of anxiety that the newsies are helping a lot with and be spend 99% of their time with them between school to the point he’s almost dead on his feet. he’s this close to changing race’s twitter password, and is besties with elmer who loves the opportunity to speak polish with someone
crutchie - any pronouns, just chills with identifying as queer and milks ‘had polio in the 21st century’ like their life depends on it because how else are you gonna cope with severe neglect. most people call him charlie in public because they’re all terrified of getting chewed out by well meaning members of the public (crutchie won’t correct anyone). an absolute menace with nerf guns and usually sticks to jack like glue, because they spent time in and out of foster homes when they were much younger together
katherine - she/her, bi, dating jack. she’s practically an inch away from losing her job with how much time she spends not working to hang around with the newsies, is captain of the javey fan club and just all around a legend. constantly gets rich jokes and accepts it as necessary for their friendship. most of what I have for her aligns with canon already ngl
spot - she/he/they, genderfluid and bi, agab is the worlds biggest unsolved mystery that will remain unsolved. always refers to race and albert as her weird looking dogs. lives in a home in brooklyn after spending a few years completely on the streets. ptsd and absolutely no ability to acknowledge it (race and al help), and he’s absolutely covered in both stick and poked and legit but illegal tattoos
finch - he/him, gay, dating albert. he ran away a total of six times and lived in several parks for weeks before someone decided ‘hey maybe we should take him away lol’ and so deals with chronic hypothermia and trust issues. raised a baby sparrow that won’t leave now that it’s an adult, but he didn’t name it so the others just call it “finch’s baby boy”. irish/spanish decent but no real connection to either because it’s a link to his family, which he’d rather not have
morris - he/him, gay and steadily getting over a lot of internalised homophobia. spent way too much time with oscar in and out of crappy homes or their father/uncles ‘care’ so is very dependent on his brother. autism, ocd and cptsd, all of which he gets very little actual support for. he spends way too much money endlessly looping on the subway cause the movement is relaxing. he’s on friendlier terms with the newsies than oscar
oscar - he/it, aroace, probably aligns with agender but doesn’t think about it, autism/adhd (where adhd is significantly more apparent), bpd, aspd, cptsd and mild dyscalculia because he’s my current fav so I have to fuck it over the most. very protective over morris and has zero tolerance for the newsies unlike his brother. it’s camera roll consists entirely of bad candids of morris. taught himself to play a guitar he found in a skip, cannot read sheet music and primarily uses it as stim. I could do an entire thing just about modern delancey’s honestly
I said more x
feel free to ask stuff about this cause I love developing the nonsense the way I don’t get to just in the tweets

by the way i do not accept how daniel is 'mental ill' but no one actually knows and says WHAT ILLNESS DOES HE HAVE and any others the characters of amnesia-
so me and my comrade was talking about danny's troubles and we think he might be a paranoid and can have an affective states and i did suppose autism because i guess he might also have difficulty with some kinds of social interactions and just making relationships LIKE he has?? 2 people in his life who he was attached to??? hazel(i guess the one actual family member who cared for him and who he cared for lol) and alexander (ooo daddy issues),, and he probably has his special interest or REAL OBSSESION over something and you cannot interest him and make him more talkative unless you start a conversation about things he adores yes and alexander DID FIND THAT TOPICS (but we finally agreed that he just might have affective states but not autism itself)
we also think alexander is narcissistic- COME ON IS NOT THAT OBVIOUS and i personally headcanon that HE HAS autism and adhd i actually suppose he also is not very good at making relationships and some kind of connections not only because he needs time but because he really struggles with that he is complicated + MOOD SWINGS. you agree- and also has obssesions and it is not easy to make HIM be interested in your company unless you talk about something he LOVES TO EXPLAIN to others or prove your own knowledge ;) in general he might just be really silent BUT THEN BOOM EMOTIONAL AND TALKATIVE and you cannot stop him you will LISTEN for 3+ hours....... and also i think he is psychopath yes i think that does make actual sense. (narcissism and psychopathy is in his behaviour) and he also might have paranoia yes
with agrippa that is more difficult to analyse(not even talking about weyer) i think he might have some issues because of isolation idk and trauma ofc
also i suppose alexander and daniel also have some kind of anger issues?? especially daniel has troubles with his feelings and alexander just becomes gradually unstable + they both might do selfh*rm because of their stress level and their personal fears and worries and self-hate (daniel's autoaggression and alexander's regrets and guilt)
ok that was interesting but ANYWAY I AM NOT A DOCTOR and i do not want to just put illnesses on characters for fun or something I ONLY HAVE THEORIES OK andd amnesia characters can have complex issues i think

THANK YOU @ashen-crest FOR THE TAG NOW I HAVE REASON TO SHARE A BUNCH OF THE WEIRD THINGS IVE HAD TO RESEARCH <3<3<3
Rules: Writers often have to research some pretty out-there stuff for our wips. What are some weird, unusual, or oddly specific things you’ve had to learn about or look into?
-- Turkish Reflex bows (construction materials, draw weights, differences from recurves, use in combat, how they're drawn (using the thumb instead of the forefingers) and also dips into variants from other cultures like iirc Mongolian archery) (Related fun fact: I've tried out archery a few times just to get an idea for how it feels!!) -- A Lot of weird animals for creature/fantasy race designs (Gharials, cowtail stingrays, phantom jellyfish, oarfish, orchid mantises, bronze parotia birds of paradise, gyr cattle, etc. etc. etc.) -- Legal terms for things like "this dude is standing in for someone who isn't here" and "knowing about a first degree murder before the fact and not stopping it" (pro tempore and accessory to [crime], respectively) which prompted deep dives into niche lawyer things of which only like 2% stuck in my brain -- Sign language!! And Language-Assisted Signs, because those are different a lot of the time and I wanted to know How and Why to portray Ash and Ice respectfully (Another related fun fact: half of my ASL research has been for use outside of writing, too, because I have Deaf family members. Also, I learned the ASL alphabet when I was 9 and that's come in clutch.) -- Speed of travel for different types of age-of-sail ships, and how to calculate that for a fantasy world where the routes are up to you and not currents of wind and water alike -- Altitude sickness/the Bends -- Ocular autohemmorrhaging (aka squirting blood out your eyes as a defense mechanism. lizards do this a lot) (this was for dragons) -- Differences in symptom presentation between Multiple Sclerosis and Transverse Myelitis (I determined that Lorelei has Multiple Sclerosis) -- Necrosis (Don't look this one up if you have a weak stomach) -- How bog bodies happen and work -- Rabies -- Different forms of paddle boats historically used for swampy navigation -- Traditional Chinese junk rigging, and how it was used in Sampan ships -- Gyroscopes and how they work/what they do/specifically the one in the plane that flew a telescope and had to keep it steady but the name of which ive forgotten -- Many Illegal Kinds Of Knives (did you know certain kinds of switchblades are illegal almost everywhere?? i didn't until semi recently. theyre some of the sexy ones too </3) -- How wing shape affects flight ability in birds -- How owl wings, specifically, are so Quiet (its the feather construction. i still dont quite get it but im tryin) -- Afrofuturistic architecture/the Afrofuturism movement as a whole -- Dancing swords/sabers with a specific focus on their grips and lack of hand guards, and the forms people used when fighting with them -- An Unreasonable amount of sewing techniques which I am now trying to make excuses for annie to reference. -- Fresco painting techniques (ended up not relevant) -- Marble sculpting techniques -- And of course a ton of research into PTSD, traumatic memory loss, OCD, the Autism + ADHD spectra (so i dont just copy-paste myself on everyone), Schizophrenia, etc. etc. for better/kinder portrayals
That is. By Far not an exhaustive list but yeah <3 i enjoy research and talking about the weird shit i learn solely through the hodgepodge of information axes i follow on the regular
I'll tag: @vacantgodling, @space-cadead, @sleepyowlwrites, @athena-anna-rose, and @comicgoblinart!! As always, absolutely 0 pressure to play if you dont want to, and this doubles as an open tag if you do!!
