My biggest advice to any blogger, something that took me a while to come to terms with since I started my blog really young, is to not let envious people deter you from cultivating a blog you feel proud to call yours. ⋆ ˚。⋆౨ৎ˚

Tumblr media Tumblr media
hi is this what you wanted. i usually do some sort of mix of these in most of my stuff........... but some bonus Things I Do are put a thin white outline + drop shadow behind the subjects of the drawing (esp when on a background) but that probably only works when you like your art to look kinda collage-y or papercraft-y (which i do)

Hello everyone! It’s time for me to shout about a crowdfunding campaign that just launched for one of my favorite shows, Stories From Ylelmore!
Tumblr media
@storiesfromylelmore is a funny, chaotic, and absolutely endearing fantasy audio drama about three kids with three different brands of magical problems - yknow, in addition to the regular problems of growing up.
Every episode is another creative and kid-friendly misadventure, ranging from yeti hunts in the name of free ice cream to finding the man at the edge of the world, and each one teaches both its pint-sized protagonists and listeners more about the world they live in.
And, this incredible show is entirely written, produced, and voice acted by one person, so any support you can give would go a long way in helping its second season get made!
Go check it out now and see what this fantastic fantasy is up to!

You've mentioned before that your academic background is in analytical literature. So what made you take the leap into creative writing? Had you been thinking about it for a while before your first post, or was it spontaneous?
Okay so honestly I have never been inclined to try creative writing really, and I still don’t think of it as something I “do” in the same sense that I “do” rhetorical analysis and stuff if that makes sense.
The story of how I got into this is pretty simple though! Basically, my best friend and I had a couple of margaritas and went down a rabbit hole of choose-your-own-adventure content on Tiktok, and I thought “This seems simple enough, I could probably make one of my own” and then I did! I wrote it that night, which is why the first episode is absolutely shot through with typos—sober Toady would never let that fly 🫠
As far as the writing itself, I get a lot of comments about its being “unique” or “distinctive,” which I feel I very much owe to my academic background. It’s why I have such a hard time answering the question of who or what inspired the stories (and why you’ll see me recommending the same things over and over)—truly, I just try my best to write in a way that wouldn’t piss me off if I had to pick it apart for an essay or something!
I love this question, thank you bestie!! 💙

it's always going to be weird to me when an artist gets fixated on some character from something then they end up drawing them for so long and tweaking the qualities of them so far that there ends up being absolutely nothing of the character left. you can just make your own characters! like if you're going to spend your year doing a fanwork set in an AU that deviates extensively from the original source just make a new thing!
if you're just gonna have princess bubblegum be and upper-middle-level manager and marceline is gonna be a chubby UPS driver or whatever then you already have some new characters! why build your entire identity as an artist around a property someone can slap out of your hand at any moment?

You can make it too. You DON'T have to change who you are. You might have to hide things from time to time, but I want you to know that it shouldn't be about shame. It's about protecting those beautiful parts of yourself from harm and having the joy of them robbed from you. It doesn't make you any "less". Eventually all of those 'secrets' will be like spring bulbs. Beautiful bursts of color and life just waiting for a good, safe, warm day. You just gotta hold on.
^ just wanted to look at that again <3
you have to stay alive. you're going to be such a beautiful middle aged freak. young freaks will see you in the street and know that things can be okay.
