Long post alert.

I'm going to start off by saying it's not Garrick. With all the Garrick and Imogen scenes and his second signet ,his arc is going in a different direction. I have theories there but that's not what this post is about.

It's Bodhi.

If there's one thing I learned about him in this book, it is that he's not jealous of Xaden , not the way people in the book seem to think he might be. His whole life it's been drilled into him that Xaden would be Duke one day and Bodhi needs to protect him.

Bodhi's dream in life is to be Xaden's right hand man. His security detail.

And he says as much in Chapter 55

He has unwavering loyalty to Xaden. Not Tyrrendor.

Exhibit B

Next, lets look at the scene where Violet and Bodhi are fighting Theophanie.

Theophanie might be powerful but a mind wielder she is not. She wrongfully assumes Bodhi wants Xaden's crown. But you know who IS a mind wielder aka a Dream walker- BERWYN. But I'll get to that in a moment.

For now lets look at the fight. Theophanie wields, Bodhi counters. Bodhi fails because his magic doesn't work on her.

The next time we see Bodhi , he's fighting wyvern with Imogen and Dain. Clearly he disobeyed and stayed to fight. And it's raining and hailing, we see this fight both from Violet's pov for a second but majorly from Imogen's pov.

Then Imogen and Dain leave to find Quin. And the next time we see Bodhi, he's throwing up.

I think this is where Bodhi pulled from the ground. Imogen's chapter ends here but I can bet my first edition copy of Onyx storm that this is where he pulls from the ground and then counters Theophine's signet again. And he succeeds this time.

Proof

Violet thinks Theophanie is killing the storm but I'm telling you that was Bodhi.

Now lets talk about Theophanie and Berwyn for a sec. This is important. See Bodhi's comment that Theophanie is the one trying to prove herself really hit me because it seems like she's in competition with Berwyn and Berwyn is winning because he got Xaden to turn. And so she's doing everything she can to get Violet. She literally tells Violet to choose her as her sage when she turns.

Now Theophanie is a shit manipulator. She's so bad at it, its actually funny.

Berwyn on the other hand is a mastermind. He's the venin opposite of Violet and they're both Dream walkers. The irids were aghast when they read what Andarna had given to Violet calling it a really really dangerous signet. And Xaden told her that she doesn't simply see other people's dreams but that she can "meddle". As untrained as she is , she can still meddle. Berwyn is a fully trained maven. He's been trapping and torturing Xaden in his dreams since Resson, until Xaden finally turned at Basgiath.

Who is to say he wasn't doing the same to Bodhi ? I think Berwyn, cunning as he is knows what Bodhi really wants and where his weaknesses lie because he's been in his head. And thats how he got Bodhi to turn, just like Xaden , doing the wrong thing for the right reason.

On an unrelated but totally related note-

Rebecca was recently asked , in an Onyx Storm event, what each character would order at a bar. She said Xaden would order a Beer. And so Bodhi would also order a beer because HE HAS TO DO WHAT XADEN DOES.

Violet- Imogen - Violet - Xaden chapters and the weather.

Vi's chapter ends with Glane going after Cuir, and that is exactly where Imogen's chapter begins. Imogen's chapter ends with pouring rain and storm and a sky full of wyvern. She goes back inside and her order to every rider around is to come and drop of their alloy hilted daggers so they may extend the wards to Draithus. Next we see Violet, she says the rain turned to hail and then vanishes completely. The sun is out now. When Xaden's onyx storm is spreading he mentions blocking out the afternoon sun, no mention of rain.

Tldr, Xaden and Imogen's chapters do not overlap.

Imogen looks up, Bodhi pulls, Bodhi kills the storm, and at some point after that he passes out , then Xaden unleashes his Onyx Storm

Salim Benali and Jade Rosa are co-parenting their twins, Caleb and Chloe, the best way they know how. 🤎

extremely long backstory:

I have always wanted to complete a short lifespan legacy challenge. I usually get too attached to my families to finish. However, I decided to go for it... starting with Salim Benali.

I started in @coolpuppy12's 'DooDoo' save file (highly recommend), where Salim lives with Johnny Zest. I thought this was very fitting. Spoiler Alert: Johnny ends up marrying Zoe Patel and having a son, JJ Landgraab. We love them.

So, like most modern romance origin stories, Salim opened Cupid's Corner, and matched with multiple women. He spent most of his (short) days dating around and having one night stands. The result of his one night stand with Jade Rosa? TWINS.

At first, this was fine. Jade was actually the first date Salim developed a crush on. When she told him about the pregnancy, he was excited. When she asked to move in with him, he was... not so excited? (Remember, he shared a small two bedroom apartment with Johnny, Zoe, and Baby JJ.) Nonetheless, they allowed Jade to move in. When she asked him to be in a relationship (yes, she asked), he said "yes" out of pure obligation. He never intended for things to get this far, but here we are.

Instead of taking Jade seriously, Salim took other girls on dates. Yes, it was wrong. Yes, he got caught. Jade was heartbroken, pregnant, and forced to live with her "ex" (AND HIS ROOMMATES!) Things quickly took a turn for the worst. Jade ended up (autonomously) fighting Salim, and that's when they both knew it was time to call it quits.

Jade saved up enough money to rent a two-bedroom apartment in the Spice District. Salim felt bad about disturbing the Zests' peace, so he also moved into a one-bedroom apartment in the Arts District. Thanks to Lumpinou's child custody mod - the twins, Caleb and Chloe, alternate between each household every three days. This isn't an ideal situation, but at least he and Jade are cordial enough to co-parent.

Initially, I was solely focused on Salim... but now, I alternate between households. I never thought I would be a Jade Rosa apologist, but here I am. She deserves a happy ending. Salim deserves to find what he's looking for. AND I deserve to finish this f-cking short lifespan challenge once and for all! 🤎

Cod Sex Bot Au - Duo Bots

Requested: Yes! But I was working on it before this request so it’s like a half request.

A/N: No Soap pr König this time, folks! Sorry! For König’s, the only person I could see as the other half is Horangi, and I’m not too comfortable writing for him yet since I’m not sure I have a great grasp on his character. For Soap……I just didn’t know who to put him with other than Ghost and I REALLY wanted to do more Roach so I had to make a tough decision. Also, it is 2 in the morning, I should not be writing this late.

A simple coincidence. An accident. Your friends, who all well meaningly chipped in to buy you a sex bot, not knowing that you had already bought one. And of course they arrived at the same time. (It was very fun signing for your packages with the words “SEX BOT” stamped on both of the boxes) So now here you stood, a bot on either side of you, both of them curiously observing the other, syncing their databases since they would be sharing a household.

Ghost & Roach

The Ghost model stares down the Roach model, the smaller bot staring back, their eyes both glowing a soft yellow as they take each other in. Then, all of a sudden, Roach started moving his hands at lightning speed, Ghost just as quickly following suit. It took you a minute to comprehend that they were talking in Sign Language. And, even if you do understand BSL, they were moving too fast for you to really get a grasp on what they were saying to each other.

Finally, they both seem to nod at each other, apparently satisfied with their conversation while you are left in the dark. They turn to you then, Roach smiling a bit as he cups one of your cheeks, Ghost cupping the other, both of them leaning in, trying to fight over who could get to your lips first, their hands roaming over your body, pulling at your clothes.

At least they get along!

Alejandro & Rudy

The Alejandro model grins at the Rudy model once they were both done, ruffling the other bot’s hair. “Hola, Rudy!” He practically chirps, seemingly amused by the way Rudy tries to hurriedly fix his hair, grumbling at Alejandro the whole time. “*Es un placer conocerle!” He says, leaning against the other bot like he was some sort of pillar. Which, spoiler alert, Rudy is not, and the sudden weight of another bot leaning on him caused the both of them to topple over, cursing together in Spanish as they fumble over each other trying to get back up. That was, until something else drew their attention.

You, laughing, your hands over your mouth to muffle the sound, eyes teary from the sheer force of your amusement. Alejandro grinned, as wide as a Cheshire Cat, and Rudy smiled, soft and small. “Bello.” Rudy said, as Alejandro nodded in agreement.

Gaz & Price

The Gaz model smiles at the Price model once the information exchange is completed, Price simply grunting in return. The older looking bot wasn’t usually one for sharing, but it seemed he would put up with the younger looking one. And with that, they turned to you, so in sync with each other that it was almost like they shared a mind.

And then they descended on you like starved wolves, Gaz eagerly taking to removing your pants, nipping and sucking at your thighs, squeezing them in his hands while Price took to cradling your neck in one broad hand, his other sliding up your shirt, tweaking at a nipple when his fingers travel high enough.

You were in for a ride, that was for sure.

That Wresting Moment: Model v Model - Chase Lundquist v Jett Bentley (88wrestling.com)

Wresters come in all backgrounds, so for this moment I thought I'd start by running through who does it best and we begin with two really really good looking male models that somehow made there way to the ring; Chase Lundquist v Jett Bentley in Muscle Model Mayhem.

SPOILER ALERT: I highly recommend viewing this match in its entirety before reading this post.

The Backstory

Our fight opens typically enough, the guys are pure shredded muscle.  So much so that Jett points out, "I'm the shredded one" and Chase comes back in disbelief with, "Oh you're shredded [removes his shirt revealing shredded abs]?"

Chase: These are real abs right here.

Not the most aggressive start to be sure, but soon we're off as our two shredded muscle models fighting it out.  

The Action

Chase is the aggressor in the first round; putting Jett in a few holds while he prances around the ring.  Yes, prances - these two are models after all.  

Our two models take turns a lot.  Putting each other in leg locks.

Now make no mistake, there are some highlights between the two.  Chase getting some hits in on Jett's sculpted body...

... and Jett, finding his way in gay wrestling, just enough to put a little hurt on his golden opponent.  

The Moment 

But let's face it, we all came here to watch two models and what do they do best.  So this moment is all about our men posing and boy do these two strike a pose.

Is this Cameron Matthews quality wrestling, or Mason Brooks trash talk, or Morgan Cruise level domination? Perhaps not.  But we didn't come for all that anyway so it's unfair to judge our two young, shredded studs by all that; we all came here for two guys that are really really good looking. 

So let's face it, the wrestling is not the focus here.  In fact, we are here for one thing - to see shredded, golden muscle studs, straining away under something like wrestling holds.  

Jett trapped with no where to run

Those made for the camera muscles that could grace any runway are the same muscles lubed up with sweat and pushed to their limit.  So yes, this is a wrestling match with a focus other than the wrestling and yes those are fighting words, but model v model offers a slower paced, less physical fighting form that does the sweaty job without leaving a single hair out of place.

It was those words... thew few words that really stung.

"Get the fuck out of my face, or I'll number you one harder than your dad did."

He knew that that was a no joke zone when it comes to their.. "friendship" and he went there.. although- It wasn't a joke.. And Vance Hopper knew it. He can see it in their eyes.. the utter shock. The utter disappointment, and betrayal. They just stood there.. He was also surprised at his own words. He didn't dare show it though.

"You.. are you fucking joking?" Y/n's voice broke slightly. "I.." Vance tried to speak. But nothing came out. "I.. I what?!.. Speak with your mouth Vance. I can't read your goddamn lips Vance!"

"I'm sorry.." He spoke softly, it was so out of character for him to say stuff like this. But 3 minutes ago, he went into flight or flight mode. Spoiler alert

It was fight.

Vance didn't normally raise his voice at Y/n but when he did, It was usually always over something stupid. A Petty game.

Was this what this was to him? A petty game?

"Y-your sorry?.. Are you fucking Kidding me?!" Y/ns voice started to get louder, and Vance just stood there. He's been there before; being yelled at as he stood there in space till his feet got sore. He was used to it, he knows that most of the time when people walk past his house, they can hear his drunk dad yelling at him for something.

Y/n knew that feeling too. That feeling, and so much more. The Emotional, Physical, and Mental feeling it can give you.

That's why there were so different and so the same all at once.

The only thing that brought Vance out of his thoughts was Y/n finally letting they're tears go. The only sounds that filled the room where each others breathing and the slight pitter of.. water dropping?

Then he hears sniffling. Vance was so lost in thought that he didn't even realize that Y/n had walked away.

"Are.. are you crying?" He asked, he sees Y/n leaning against the kitchen counter with their back facing him.

"Yes Vance Hopper. I'm crying. If you got a fucking problem with it, you can leave. The door is wide the fuck open." He hears them scoff.

• But one time when you were caught staring at him he teased you a lot until you were almost crying, he had a heart attack as you are one of his best friends! (Mostly because he accidentally almost made you cry infront of RIDDLE), so he never teased you too much after that. (Key word; TOO MUCH)

• Deuce didn’t really notice (because he’s a little dumb <33) but when he did it was when he first played with Leona in a practice game for the spell drive after Leona’s overblot. He only notices afterwards because Jack pointed it out to him, and now he can’t help but get confused and nervous when you do it. It’s not your fault! Well, maybe it is..? But he enjoys spending time with you, it’s just it creeps him out a bit, sometimes he can’t help but call you out on it.

• Like one time he was walking with you back to ramshackle dorm and he couldn’t help but notice the way you glanced at him and stared every time, Deuce then gives up and asks you about it. Deuce then apologizes as he sees you try to find your words and you kinda look like a kicked puppy and he starts to panic and say it’s alright and he’ll never bring it up again..! (Spoiler alert; he does it on accident all the time)

Spoiler alert for The Infinite and the Divine (big spoiler, I mean it) but if you want an extra layer of tragedy to Trazyn and Orikan's messed up excuse for a relationship, consider how much of their time together on Serenade was...

...poisoned by the Deceiver screwing. It's not like Orikan didn't hate Trazyn before, but during so much of their forced cooperation, Deceiver is whispering in Orikan's head, stoking that fire. Telling him that Trazyn isn't worth his time, Trazyn can't be trusted, Trazyn's just there to be used and discarded. He isn't someone Orikan should care about. Meanwhile, Trazyn is actually starting to like spending time with Orikan. He's opening up. Yes, most of that opening up consists of explaining random shit Orikan doesn't care about, but come on, how many of us express affection by doing exactly that? We all relate to infodumping about our hyperfixations.

There is a moment where Orikan starts to come around: when Trazyn shares that he too remembers resisting biotransference. He believed Orikan and didn't go willingly to the furnaces. This is the thing Orikan remembers when he saves Trazyn from Flayer!Quellkah (a thing he did not have to do and is more surprised than anyone that he did). Finally the wall starts coming down. And wouldn't you know it, the second Orikan starts to feel something besides hatred, a new memory CONVENIENTLY pops up, showing that Trazyn actually tossed him into the furnace personally (a thing that does not make any practical sense when you think about it). And Orikan goes right back to hating him. WOW FUNNY HOW THAT HAPPENED! Almost like the Deceiver felt a little threatened by the idea of them cooperating...

It's so sad how differently they experienced that time and how much they could have accomplished if each of them had been allowed to understand the other. Trazyn did not want to fight Orikan at the end. He tries to get him to stop their battle, but Orikan has the Deceiver in his ear telling him that he has to attack. And he listens because the Deceiver is offering him exactly what he wants. An easy answer. Trazyn=bad, "Vishani"=good, no need to reevaluate his rivalry or worldviews. And Orikan gets a mountain to the face for his trouble.

Yes, they'll probably always despise each other on some level, but this makes me wonder if there's a version of events where they despise each other slightly less. What that universe might look like. There's probably fewer Deceiver shards running around.

One more question before I start watching (will soon! Almost done with work!) What exactly is shadowpeach? I've seen it pop up a fair amount in your posts and I assume it's a ship? But I realized I didn't actually know for sure

short answer: shadowpeach is the ship name of the two characters Sun Wukong and the Six Eared Macaque (who shows up near the end of s1) in the show

long answer:

Shadowpeach is the ship name of LMK’s iteration of Sun Wukong and the Six Eared Macaque. There are many ships with these characters (or characters similar to them with jttw influences) over the centuries and this one, just happens to have rotted my brain to the point where I think about them an unhealthly amount

the Six Eared Macaque is a character that shows up about mid-way through the companions journey in JTTW. he is meant to be the antithesis of Sun Wukong. the side of him that is still cruel and unredeemed (because, you know, Buddhist allegory).

Anyway, jttw!Maxky impersonates Wukong (Tripitaka and him recently had a feud— this, uh, happens a lot on their journey lol— and Wukong was either banished or he left in a huff), and then tries to take the scrolls for himself because that will make him the most enlightened and powerful being ever.

Spoiler alert: he fails

Wukong returns and the two monkeys fight until Wukong finally kills his impersonator, metaphorically killing his past violent self and making him even closer to redemption

Okay, so you also know how JTTW is a story that’s been around for a long ass time? And how over time, ther have been many new iterations and adaptations and retelling and fanfic? Yeah so, a lot of people over the centuries began to go, “hey, what if Wukong and Macky knew each other before the journey???? WHAT IF THEY WERE THE BESTEST OF FRIENDS????? WHAY IF THEIR RELATIONSHIP WAS ALWAYS DOOMED?????”

and there lies the crux of that relationship and that, too, has evolved and gone through its own adaptations. LMK takes that and rolls with it but of course, when you’re telling a story about two old monkeys who had a past where they used to be close and it ended I trashed and one of them is obsessed with the other……you will find some bitches looking at it with some queer undertones (it’s me. I’m bitches)

Now, apparently, when this ship first came about, many audience members didn’t take it seriously because of the lack of screen time and short episodes in both s1&2

BUT SEASON 3 ON FHE OTHER HAND 👀👀👀👀👀 SEASON 4 👀👀👀👀

it just opened all the flood gates, confirming that YES these monkeys loved each other and were fhe closest they could be. Yes, these monkeys faced tragedy in their relationship (tho lmk has yet to confirm whether their swk did end up killing Macky) and yet as fhe season progress they stay intertwined with each ofher

Upcoming Sweeper Event Blind Guesswork

“But Hats, it hasn’t even been a week since Regular Checkup came out, isn’t it a lot more fruitful to analyze fresh material we actually have than to write a bunch of wild speculation?”

2. Shut Up.

3. What Regular Checkup possesses in “being available content” it lacks in “having Sweepers”. As such, I go where my heart takes me.

The Story

Spoiler alert: Sweepers will be involved.

The immediately obvious way for things to start is that the bus gets stuck in Night in the Backstreets. I mean, the title isn’t literally “Night in the Backstreets”, but “Nocturnal Sweeping” is pretty much the next-closest thing.

That would be enough story for a Walpurgisnacht in the vein of Full Stop, where the gameplay is a “kill enough enemies in the time limit” sort of setup, but it isn’t remotely enough material for an intervallo—especially not the intervallo right before a canto. Magic SEA Bus gave us Ishmael’s breakdown, To Claim Their Bones was admittedly less about Heathcliff than about easing us into T Corp, MOTWE had the big Don reveal. So we’re going to get *something* for Hong Lu here. Which makes things tricky for me, because a Hong Lu Scholar I am not. There are people in this fanbase who have read and Understood Dreams of the Red Chamber, I am not one of them. I do not have the Deep Knowledge.

What I *can* say is that I’m pretty sure Hong Lu is in an extraordinarily bad mood in Regular Checkup. There’s him being sorted into Wrath and his interaction with Hong Lu there, but also his early callout of Don feels really… well, bitchy, to put it bluntly. Hong Lu doesn’t tend to shy away from saying what’s on his mind, but he tends to do it a lot more indirectly than he did here. So in NS, I expect to see that trend continue. He’ll be masking it, but I expect that nasty bitter streak to continue.

The Thing for Sweepers is Family. Once you actually understand what they’re saying, you discover that they’re a tightly-knit family unit who care for each other a lot. They’re just also, y’know, the scourge of the Backstreets that eat corpses and soon-to-be corpses, and seem to maybe abduct children they find out at Night to be turned into Sweepers. Now, being liquified and turned into a posthuman cannibal is probably one of the better fates a Backstreets orphan can hope for, but that is damning with pretty faint praise.

I think that what Hong Lu really, *really* hates is seeing people forced into a mold that doesn’t fit them. It’s what he’s seen in all of his siblings—whoever they are by nature, they get forced into the hell of cutthroat murderous competition by their family (it’s a synecdoche of the City as a whole!). There isn’t a reason that any of them should have to be that, except that they are getting forced into that shape by their elders.

And with Sweepers, that’s, well, pretty damn literal. So I would guess that we’re going to be trying to retrieve a child from the Sweepers here. Not Charon, because we wouldn’t have anything to fight in that case because Vergilius would murder the hell out of every last one of them, but some other kid the LCB ends up interacting with for some reason. Don would naturally push to go with the rescue attempt, it’s a good opportunity to show that aspect of her post-Canto, and I think that regardless of it being outside their company mission, Vergilius isn’t going to put up a lot of resistance to the idea. So into the Wherever It Is That Sweepers Live we go.

Somebody is going to have to be able to Speak Sweeper. I just don’t see a way to completely avoid it. Maybe if we hadn’t already gotten that glimpse in Ruina, they could try to tell it entirely through action, but as it is, I don’t think so. Obviously, this falls to Dante, another bit of the Weirdness around them. I don’t know that sweepers will be able to understand the ticking, but Dante understanding the random numbers—or rather, not hearing the numbers and just hearing the meaning—seems likely.

Ultimately, I think the kid probably gets Sweepered, and Hong Lu is going to get angry in a way that is frankly concerning—the kind of stuff we saw with Fanghunt Hong Lu. Those waters only look tranquil because they run so much deeper than you imagine. And so we’re are set up for Canto 8.

Who Gets the IDs Though?

Ryoshu - Come on, this isn’t a surprise. It’s about Family, and that is clearly so much of the theme they are hammering on with her. She is going to have Opinions about Sweepers. But also, her last ID was from last Walpurgisnacht—she hasn’t gotten one this season proper. She’s a shoe-in here. Yes, she just got Thoracalgia, but EGO don’t count in the same way. Assuming we get a 000 and a 00, I think she’s a lock for 000.

Meursault - This is a bit more mechanical—they like big slow tanky Meursault IDs, we’ve seen big slow tanky Sweepers. He’s a natural for the Hauler passives. He does fit in terms of temperament too, though. Not so much the family bit, but the strict rules that they abide by are a very Meursault thing. He did get an ID earlier this season in Cinq West, but it’s been a bit.

Sinclair - He’s young, and is in some ways a bit of a package deal with Ryoshu. I have trouble making it more detailed than that, but if anyone is a lost child that gets adopted, it’s Sinclair. He has, however, had an ID relatively recently. Not a story ID, and not *super* recently, so there’s certainly a chance.

Rodion - There’s a real power gap from 3 to 4, and I’m not taking the detailed list further than this because it’s all degrees of Not Happening, which I’ll get into. If anyone who got a Bloodfiend ID this canto has a shot at Sweeperdom, it’s Ryoshu, our main Backstreets representative. It’s been long enough since Princess that it’s possible, but… I wouldn’t bet on it.

Yi Sang - Just got a 00. Now, he hs gone as long without a 000 as Ryoshu, but I just don’t feel like he has a strong thematic tie here.

Faust - Just got a story 000, doesn’t match vibes.

Don Quixote - She is not getting another ID in here own canto period, especially not when it’s as thematically close to her canto as this would be.

Hong Lu - Just got a 000, and is kind of the opposite of Don—this is too close to when he’s going to be telling his story to hit those themes in ID form.

Heathcliff - Is getting *two* 000s in quick succession. He does not get a hat trick here. On the eventual rerun I think he does, though.

Ishmael - Getting a 000 in the Yield My Flesh rerun, doesn’t need an immediate reprise. Also I just don’t feel like it fits her.

Outis - This would fit, but it’s the exact same thing they did with Barber Outis. They aren’t going to do it right away again.

Gregor - Had a Bloodfiend ID, isn’t allowed the kind of happiness he would get from having a close caring family. Mmmmaube on the rerun, I could see it.

Tell me you’ve never interacted with the opposite sex (especially teenage boys) without telling me, lolz. I hope some of y’all are just super young and inexperienced tbh. After you tell Joel about Jane, everything else seems relatively easy to tell him. You spend many frigid nights surrounded by mountains and trade stories back and forth like it's second nature. Sometimes, Ellie has long since been asleep by the time you start talking, and other times she's up and listening. She giggles along or asks questions when you bring up what the world was like before you even knew what cordyceps were.

One night, after Ellie's fast asleep, he brings up Tess. He tells you a story of when she tried to cook dinner and almost burned the apartment down. He laughs as he talks about the look on her face and the argument they had after. You can't stop a smile from spreading across your face. You stopped talking about her when she died. It was too painful for both of you. But now, nothing feels too scary.

"Did you love Tess?" You finally ask after years of wondering and attempting to read their unspoken tension. You thought something might've been going on until he started with you. They might've gotten into a fight or broken up momentarily, but he didn't say as much. You two never really did a whole lot of talking when you were together. Still, you two kept sneaking around even after the first night he showed up at your front door. You don't know if Tess knew. You wish she was here.

"'S a different kinda love, but yeah," he says, staring into the fire to avoid your eyes. "We never said it out loud, but she knew. In another world, we would've been really good to each other."

"Not this one?" You ask, and he shakes his head.

"We did our best," he says. "What about you? 'D you love Adam?" You don't miss how he shifts the focus so he doesn't have to keep answering your questions. You make a mental note to circle back around.

"Yeah. I don't know how good I was at it, though. I was… mean and pushy, but he was so kind. Just annoyingly calm and patient."

"In another world, you guys are married?"

"No," you laugh. "No, in another world, Adam is married to… a kindergarten teacher. They meet at school, and she's sickly sweet and perfect for him. She lets him buy her dinner, and the only thing they argue about is how to load the dishwasher. And they've got three kids, and he's just the best dad." It's not a new or spontaneous thought. You've often wondered how Adam's life would've been different if you two had never met. Maybe he'd still be alive and teaching in the QZ school. He'd probably find someone who would let him take care of her. Someone who wouldn't sneak outside the walls or take hit jobs to pay the bills. Someone he knew would say yes if he asked her to marry him.

"And you? What are you doing in this other world?" He asks, and you shrug.

"I'm a single mom with too much debt and not enough money to pay it off. I work too much, and I'm always exhausted, and I still send the yearly emails to her dad trying to get him to respond, but I never get anything, and… my kid is alive."

"Sounds pretty good." Joel finally whispers, and you nod.

"The best," you agree. "What about you? What are you doing in another world?"

"In another world, I take over my dad's contracting company. Tommy and I work on houses all throughout Austin, and I hire somebody to keep the office afloat so I can be home for dinner. I'm tired, but Sarah convinces me to stay up for a movie, so we end up throwin' on some old slasher film. And I spend the rest of my life making things easier for her." He says. This is the most he's ever talked about his life from before with you. You wonder how many pieces of him you still don't know about.

"You think we'd meet in this different world?" You ask, and he meets your eyes. Something passes between you. If someone asked you to explain it, you wouldn't be able to find the words, but you know your heart lifts for just a moment as he stares at you.

"I think meetin' you is one of the only good things about this world," he says with more sincerity than you've ever heard grace his voice. It throws you off-kilter. You don't know what to say or how to respond, but he beats you to it by pulling the rifle over his lap. "Get some sleep. I'll wake you up for second watch." You nod and shuffle into your sleeping bag with racing thoughts and no way to stop them.

When Ellie asks a few days later where Joel would go if he could go and do anything he wanted, he lies like any good parent does. He says something about a ranch and sheep. You're able to envision it for just a second when Ellie turns to you with the same question. You lie, too. "I'd own a dog shelter." You say, making Ellie giggle. She spins her own tale of living on the moon, and Joel meets your eyes with a gentle understanding. You'd never tell Ellie, but if you could go and do anything you wanted, you be raising your kid, and you'd want for nothing else.

Dog shelters and sheep ranches be damned.

A quick list of animes I watched and don't want to forget 3:

Satsuriku no Tenshi - perfect for halloween, it was a short story with an easy to forget plot and characters I could root for. Tbh it hooked me with the never ending suspense and Zack. And I'll never forget the heartbreak at the end. So toxic and broken and tragic. The horror elements were fun, sometimes scary even so 7/10! Demon slayer - Its a bingeable shounen. The story is mid, the animation is cool, the MC is kind and likeable + i love how they show us the difference between "city japan" and "rural japan" (especially technology and behaviour-wise), but the constant screaming and second hand embarrassement is just too much. And besides getting stronger and using better techniques there are no character arcs (as of in S2). The boar + thunder kid just ruined the whole series for me t_t And the mountain peasant/animalistic superpower schtick is boring as hell after an episode or two. 6.5/10

Samurai Champloo - y2k graffiti/breakdance meets samurais. Boi, what an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G anime! The AV, OST, art style, all the fight scenes and character design... all of it is 10/10. Of course the found family trope can never be trumped, however the story itself was adventurous, not repetitive (except for them never having money lol), captivating, witty and emotional when it needed to be. Also the episodes tie into each other a lot, which makes the storytelling natural (+ its not just episodes put in order). The MC's are all 3D with weaknesses, believable behaviors and distinct manners + they have easy to remember names and styles. Watching the messy trio's friendship come to live is something I want to witness again for sure.

Konosuba! - A surprisingly bad and adorable parody of the isekai genre that I could only watch all the way through after the 3rd attempt. Most characters are completely helpless/stupid/naive but in an oddly charming way. The MC is ofc a pervert neet that is insufferable, but his oversexualized companions are cute, their friendship is cute, and their boobs are huge. Watch it while having dinner 6/10

Ouran highschool host club - light hearted and stupid and has some second hand embarrassement, but its a must watch! I wish the artstyle was different tho :/ 8.5/10

The Apothecary Diaries - Sherlock Holmes meets chinese historical romance fanfic. Beautiful, captivating and rewatchable. Very dreamy (but i have a feeling that theres going to be a lot of drama and sadness in the future? idk i havent started the light novel yet) 9/10

Midnight Occult Civil Servants - its so much more worth it than ppl think! Yes, the power of friendship is strong in this one, buuuut 1) its not overdone 2) the story is not sugarcoated and there are some interesting philosophical topics that we touch throughout the episodes 3) even though the MC is a naive and ridiculously hard working boy, he learns a lot from his mistakes and kinda grows up. His friends are lovely too! I just wish that their design was a bit more detailed, the animation got a bit more budget and that we could have gotten a bit more chapters... 8/10!

Mignon - a korean BL manwha adaptation. Each episode is around 5 mins so the story isnt too complicated. It has vampires (why dont we get more of them nowadays??) and sexy man-love. 6.5/10

Golden Boy - It is a golden comedy (and educational) anime and it's so humorous that I actually laughed watching it. At first it seems annoying/ridiculous but from the end of the first episode I understood the premise and the point of the anime. The boy doesnt learn much, but the women around him do. 7.5/10

Kamisama Kiss - I loved it at the beginning and then felt really let down by it, cuz 1) I learned about the end of the story and got pissed off (because ***SPOILER ALERT who the fuck thought that giving up your occult superpowers and long life is romantic? WHO?***) and 2) it got so rushed at the end. The art style is not my favorite ad some of the frames looked cheap, but I loved the comical use of expressions and some of the designs were really cool. 6/10 (and -100/10 because of the ending of the manga. Seriously. Fuck that.)

She had also met a human that turned immortal when the skulk took over. We'll talk about him soon enough. During the great revolution against the GreaterX, she was the one who delivered the message of victory to the sun, turning her wings black. She went to the end to fix them but the dragons were dead.

Philza, The Angel of Death, West Winds, Death's Angel - Descendant of the sky herself, practices the arcane magic of Death, bringing him closer to his wife and other people connected to that realm. He is only an immortal because he is smart. He doesn't do stupid shit. He is also known as the Blood God Handler, but we'll get to that. - Status: Alive - Colors: Green and white - More Info: so this is the doozy; Philza has 4 kids legally speaking. Wilbur being his only biological child. From eldest to youngest it'd be Wilbur, Tommy, Chayanne, Tallulah. Now you may be wondering "what about Techno?"

Technoblade, The Blood God, The Host, The Boar, Techno - The host of the Blood God, direct descendant of an entire bloodline of piglins blessed by the Blood God himself. He does not practice arcane magic, that's Philza's thing. - Status: unknown, assumed to be alive because the Blood God title hasn't been passed down to Michael yet and things only the Blood God can do still happen here and there. - Colors: Red and sometimes Pink - More Info: Techno and Philza are closely related friends that happen to live in the same house and raised kids together (NO I AM NOT JOKING.) Techno was traveling when Wilbur was born and raised mostly, only was around the most when Tommy was brought home. Techno avoided Wilbur's birth and childhood because he wanted to stay on Kristin's good side. (Will explain later) Techno also technically helped raise Sally, but it was more training than raising. Speaking of which

Sally, Pearl of the Sea, The Siren, Calypso - Sally is the protector of rivers, goddess of the sea. At least the head goddess. There are smaller gods underneath her for specific parts of the sea. When she gave up her immortality, she was still a God because she was still worshipped. She was in the Syndicate for years before she "ran off to make a government with Wilbur" as Techno would've put it. The things you do in the name of love amirite? Sally also helped finish raising Tommy to the best of her ability along with her two kids and tubbo. Because somehow, she was the only one who was concerned about the kids being forced to fight in a WAR. - Status: Dead, dead as hell, what shoes she got? What shoes she got on the coffin??? - Colors: Fire coral red and Indigo blue - More Info: So she didn't have Fundy, we all know what happened there, if you don't go watch a vod, I ain't explainin it. Fundy is part of the generational curse Kristin put on Philza's bloodline from Wilbur down, so... yeeeaaaa. Sally did, however, have Milo! Milo was baptized in her name, whereas Fundy was baptized in XD's name. So little tidbit: Wilbur and Sally had been at religious war with each other which is stupid when Wilbur knows how important it is for a God to keep their dignity in their own worship because his moms, both his father's wife AND his BIOLOGICAL mother, are goddesses. Kristin is an example of what goddesses need, and Samantha (bio mom) is an example of what goddesses don't need. That being said, he still had the audacity to slowly strip her power away and use it to either his advantage or to have her worship another God, which was the church prime. So Sally, kinda outta spite, baptized Milo in her own name, the Pearl of the Sea, which is something a lot of pirates do if a child is born or adopted out at sea (Dream and Foolish were baptized like that by Puffy)

It's been ages since I wrote One Piece fanfictions and my first time doing anime headcanons! Honestly, I never knew I would ship Nami and Ace together, who are my top favorite characters from the series. Then I realized they are my favorite crack ship as I imagine them as a couple, which is now my One Piece Otp XD! I mean, come on! Ace is hot, badass, and hysterical. Nami is beautiful, badass, and hilarious. Well, fans said Ace has Isuka, and she is from Ace's Adventures novel, but I am more team Nami as always since I watched this series. Also, I need to catch up on watching this series, but I am back into watching it, and yes…I spoiled myself on the series a bit, but it's a long series (don't judge me; I saw a lot of spoilers on the internet. Seeing it as a surprise is magic while watching for the first time, but I fail at it), and it's one of my favorite anime series of all time when I first got into anime. Also, I know (SPOILER ALERT) Ace dies… 😢. But I am keeping him alive in my One Piece stories/one-shots. I never knew I would grow close to Ace, but he's such a great big brother to Luffy, and he's a badass. Also…really attractive as hell😳. But then I imagined him in the Strawhats crew, but only for fanfics if he was alive and why not. Also, Luffy is happy to have his brother with him. It is also a good excuse for him being close to Nami as a Strawhat crew member. Or Nami as a Whitebeard crew member? But here's their headcanons!!!!! You can imagine you are Nami to have Ace or be Ace to have Nami in this headcanon of mine just to let you know. I DON'T OWN ONE PIECE!!

Got along really well during the Alabasta Arc with Ace as the major ally. (Back then, I skipped forward to see episodes of Ace because I really wanted to see him while I was getting into the series. Well, I feel like I started the show because of him. But I heard it's really good, so I'm watching the series also and I love it. One Piece is one of my favorite anime series.)

Nami was really shy when she was around Ace as he came over to visit, and she started realizing she had feelings for him.

Ace said he likes her, causing her to melt and blush so hard.

Our boy made the first move on the first kiss. He thought Nami was gonna punch him, but she didn't since she accepted the kiss, meaning she likes him back.

Ace is such a gentleman to her (he respects her space and makes sure she is alright). He can be protective of her, but only in fights and dangerous adventures.

Nami would be the clingy one in the relationship. (Not possessive, just being cute by koala hugging him when she misses him. Ace doesn't mind it since he loves it a lot and finds it cute)

Yes, they do get jealous.

Nami would get jealous if someone flirts with Ace in front of her. Luckily, Ace is a respectful partner for Nami. He is uncomfortable and would kindly let the girl down, saying 'he's taken' or 'I have a girlfriend'. Nami would step in by just hugging him from behind while pouting. Ace would smile before giving her a kiss on the cheek to let her know he's still hers.

Ace gets jealous when a guy tries to flirt with Nami...oof...he tries not to beat the shit out of him. Though if the guy isn't listening to Nami when she says 'not interested' or 'I have a boyfriend'...Ace would come over to her aid by telling him off or would beat the crap out of him if he's sexually harassing Nami. Nami would punch her stalker, but sometimes they would dodge her attacks. Nami doesn't mind Ace beating either guy's ass who flirts with her since he deserves it.

Nami would laugh if he fell asleep out of nowhere, as she finds it funny, but he doesn't do it when they are together without making her think he's bored of her. He would fall asleep if they were snuggling together on the bed or couch since they both feel relaxed.

Nami may be greedy for treasure, but she deeply cares about Ace, her family, and her crew. Ace doesn't mind since he knows where she got the nickname 'Cat Burglar'. But he knows the real story of why she cares about treasure.

Nami tells Ace of how Arlong treated her and what her village went through in hell because of him. Ace was furious about how she was treated. Nami then cries as she brings up that story. Ace would hold her as she cries in his arms for her comfort. He lets her know that he's sorry since he couldn't be there for her and what she went through. Nami assures him it's alright and not to feel bad since it's finally over, and she's living her best life out in the seas, making Ace feel better.

Ace telling Nami that he is Gol D. Roger's son was nerve-racking for him. Nami was surprised since she had already known through the news when it was revealed during the Marineford War. She told Ace that she didn't care who his father was. All she cares about is that he is a wonderful and amazing person with the amazing life he deserves, which makes Ace surprised but smile as he hugs her.

Talking about what happened at the Marineford two years ago was hard when Nami saw the scar on his torso and one on his back from Akainu, yet survived. (a devil fruit user comes in with healing powers to save Ace's life, but it costs his savior's life.) Nami tearfully confesses that it was terrifying that he almost died. Ace comforts her and lets her know that he's still here for her. He lets her know that he won't die and will live, making Nami smile.

They would bond over their tattoos.

If they go shopping together, Ace isn't a shopping person but is happy to go to be with Nami. Ace isn't controlling of what Nami wears since he wants her to be happy and comfortable so she can make her own choices as an independent woman. Though she would love to hear opinions from other people for fashion advice, she chose Ace. But Ace said she looks great in everything as she is model material, making her the luckiest girl on Earth.

PDA - They would hold hands while walking around town, and Nami would sit on his lap, or while sitting next to each other, Ace would have his arm wrapped around her waist. However, if someone looks at either one of them based on how good-looking they are (I mean, have you seen them?), they would get jealous and have their arms linked together.

Y/N has seen that Jett Adara hates Valentine’s Day and becomes very bitter because of it, so they decide to go to Lance to see if he’ll drive all couples across the world to the point of becoming so bitter and angry at each other that they eventually file for divorce. Spoiler Alert: This works a little too well…

It was February 13th in the city of Timeville, and everyone was excited for tomorrow. That day would be Valentine’s Day, and everyone was going to exchange cards and gifts and chocolates and flowers- except for one. That someone was Jett Adara, a grumpy teenage Thunder demon who despised couples. And it made him bitter- so bitter in fact, he’d rather be in the middle of a raging thunderstorm. Seeing this, Y/N thought, Maybe if all couples were bitter like he was, he can finally move on! And so, with that thought in mind, they immediately rushed to The Balan Theatre.

Once inside the Balan Theatre, Y/N headed through the curtains and onto the Isle of Tims. And on the Isle, they made their way towards the door that led to the Negativity domain, where Negativity Maestro Lance was sitting on a beanbag chair with Kosokoso Kuro on his lap. “Hey, Lance- I kinda have a request for you.” Y/N replied. “What is it that you need, friend- tell me before Kuro’s brushing ends.” The negativity maestro replied. As Y/N explained their request, Lance immediately began to blush. “My friend- consider the phrase “Be careful what you wish for”; as it does more harm than good than before.”

“Please, I want Jett to move on! He can heal, I know!” Y/N says, pleading. “Ok; but remember, my friend- The Storm and divorces; at midnight will end.” Lance replied and snapped his fingers. “Yes! Thanks, Lance! Now Jett will finally be able to move on!” Y/N said, running off, waiting for the next day. The very next morning, Y/N woke up to… bickering?! “Wait a minute. Today’s Valentine’s, isn’t it?”, said Y/N as they made their way downstairs, only to see a couple outside their window having a heated argument, only for the woman to hit her husband on the head with her purse. Well… Lance wasn’t wrong. Y/N thought to themselves, only for ominous clouds to fill the sky above.

As Y/N walked further into town, they could see that things began to get more… negative everywhere they looked. Couples were shoving cards, chocolates, and flowers into the trash, and some were even filing for divorce. Soon, it began to rain, and thunder and lightning filled the skies. The world now knew how cruel and unforgiving Jett’s own life had been, and everyone had become bitter towards each other- And not even the Inhabitants and their friends were safe! Fighting, yelling, and bitterness filled the streets of Timeville. Y/N started to look for Jett Adara, who was in the middle of the forest he considered his favorite spot.

“Hey, Jett! I maaaay have asked Lance to request that every single couple in the world feels the chilling bite of reality that they become soooo bitter towards each other that they file for divorce- and a pretty nasty thunderstorm is brewing as well. And don’t worry, I did all this to make you happy so you can move on. I decided to make Bitter Blade strike everyone so it wouldn’t strike you.” Y/N explained.

“This ain’t what I wanted, ya drongo! I know ya wanted me to move on and heal, but the fact ya made this whole storm and made every couple in town bitter just for me is a mess! Ya made life cruel for everyone!” Jett said, Thunder crackling around him. “Oh no… you’re right! What have I done?! I’ve gotta fix this!!” Y/N said to themselves as they checked their phone- only to see that couples AROUND THE WORLD were bickering and being bitter towards each other and everyone else. Heck, the news even reported it as “The Valentine’s Day Without Love”.

Now knowing that they had to make things right, Y/N raced back to the theatre, hoping to find Balan and Lance and undo the mistake. “Balan! Lance! I think my request worked a little… too well, but I never imagined it would become this disastrous!” Y/N said, horrified at the consequences of their wish. “Well, we can still fix this whole mistake;” Balan began. “As long as you learn from it and do a double take.” Lance replied. “Y-You’re right. I should be careful about what I wish for next time! It all ends at midnight, right?” Y/N replied.

“You’ve got that right, our friend!” Balan answered. “I’m sure this situation will have a good end.” Lance finished. The next day, the storm was over, and everyone was chatting and laughing as if nothing had ever happened. Y/N sighed happily. “At least Jett can finally move on.” They said to themselves. “Well, at least ya fixed yer mistake. Don’t ever do it again.” Jett replied before speeding away. Y/N smiled as they hurried over to join the Lunar New Year festivities. After all, they had learned an important lesson yesterday- Be careful what you wish for, especially if you’re telling a Maestro what you’re wishing for!
