What If…? Episode 3 review:
(SPOILERS AHEAD)
Tumblr media
You know the drill, another episode of What If…? Comes along and I talk about it and give a review and my thoughts on it.
Anyways let’s just get to the point.
So this episode focuses on the question on What would happen if the Avengers never came to be?
The first thing is that I love the idea that the whole plot point of the episode is trying to found out who killed key members of the Avengers.
For instance we see: Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Hulk, And Black Widow being murdered under mysterious circumstances.
And while that is being handled, we also see Loki coming to Earth to exact revenge on the person who killed his brother, all the while Fury as well as Natasha find out the murderer.
The second thing that I find interesting is that we get to revisit the events of the phase 1 MCU movies, which yes, it needs to happen because it’s obviously an alternative universe, but still is very interesting and nice to see, but the one movie I found interesting that they decided to revisit was The Incredible Hulk.
And the reason is because they never acknowledged it due to the fact that it was back when Edward Norton was pretty much pushing around Marvel on what he wanted to include in this movie.
And what’s funny is that if they brought in Mark Ruffalo, which is what happened in the episode, as Bruce Banner from the start, then we wouldn’t have a problem, and we would all acknowledge it.
So that was really interesting to see.
But the one thing that gave me massive OH MA GODDDDDD, was who the killer was.
And who was the killer?……..
None other than Hank Pym…..
Yes…. THE Hank Pym was the murderer.
Which was kinda shocking, but what got me the most, and this sparked the marvel nerd in me is that he took on the identity as Yellow Jacket.
Which if you didn’t know, there was a Marvel story where after Janet Van Dyne’s death (who was the OG Wasp) Hank assumed the Identity of Yellow Jacket as a sort of symbol to honor Janet.
But here, he basically took on the mantle on Yellow Jacket, because he blamed S.H.I.E.L.D for not only the death of his wife, but also his daughter Hope (who is currently the Wasp of our universe).
And I find that soooo interesting and cool.
To see not only Hank becoming the Yellow Jacket, but to see him kill the key members of the Avengers was such a crazy and most interesting thing that I’ve ever saw.
And of course at the end Loki stayed on Earth, and is controlling the people, and of course Fury assembles a new team, with both Cap and Carol Danvers joining in.
Overall, the episode itself, was both fascinating and also interesting.

SO’s Guide to the MCU
A handy guide for @coffeegleek to decide if she (or anyone else) would like join the ranks.  It’s fine if you don’t want to, but that means more shawarma for us.
1. Iron Man -
Tumblr media
Robert Downey Jr. plays himself Tony Stark, an asshole billionaire, genius, playboy, philanthropist, who nearly dies, and saves himself by becoming Iron Man.  This film kicks off the tone of the MCU combining humor and action and just being a fun ride.  Completely recommended to get a jump start into the MCU to see how it all begins.
2. The Incredible Hulk
Rightfully considered the black sheep of the Marvel family.  It’s... not good.  In fact, I couldn’t even find a gif for you.  Eventually, they’ll switch out Edward Norton for the much more entertaining Mark Ruffalo, and pretty much nothing in this movie matters to the big scheme of things, so it’s entirely skippable.  And I mean, even if you are a huge Hulk fan - I’d probably still recommend skipping it.
3. Iron Man 2
Tumblr media
This film is considered by a lot of people to be one of the weaker ones - and while I still enjoy it a lot, it’s understandable as to why people think that.  It’s funny and has charm, but it’s kind of a mess - so... if you had fun with Iron Man 1 and really want to see more Tony Stark I recommend! Otherwise, feel free to move on.  Black Widow is introduced here, but her introduction in The Avengers is just fine.
4. Thor
Tumblr media
For me, the first Thor film is a little ‘meh’, though it does have some charm.  Chris Hemsworth plays a frat boy god who gets grounded to Earth after he misbehaves by his father Odin.  The real gem of this film is Tom Hiddleson’s Loki and the family dynamics between Thor, Loki, and Odin.  The stuff with Natalie Portman and the Earlings is fine.  But I almost recommend watching Avengers first and seeing if you like that first, and if you do, come back and watch Thor if you’re interested or if you just want to see Chris Hemsworth be pretty for two hours.
5. Captain America: The First Avenger
Tumblr media
The epic romance that is Steve and Bucky starts here.  If you’re totally intrigued by tumblr’s fascination with ‘Stucky’ this is a must!!  But more seriously, C:TFA is a fun film, yes set in the 40s, but I think it handles that well and Chris Evans is an absolute delight as Cap -- or Steve Rogers, a plucky kid from Brooklyn who just wants to prove what a big heart he has.  It’s much more entertaining for than the Thor film (IMO), though if you’re still on the fence, again, watch Avengers first, and come back if Cap holds your attention.
6. The Avengers
Tumblr media
If you’re really unsure about any of the first phase of films, then start off with The Avengers.  This film is amazing -- it’s funny, and emotional, and is nicely paced, and you really get a nice sense of who the characters are and what they stand for.  This film is just fun, with the MCU’s trademark humor and intriguing action (and I say this as a person who really isn’t into action films if you can believe it).  I can’t say enough good things about this film - it’s really good, go watch it!!
7. Iron Man 3
Tumblr media
Iron Man 3 is the continuing adventures of Tony Stark.  This film is batshit insane at times (but I kinda love it - though I love Iron Man, so...)  It’s got some great character work for Tony Stark if you’re interested, which I think is the best thing this film has going for it.  It doesn’t, however, play much of a part in the bigger scheme of things, so if  Tony isn’t your person, then you can skip past it.
8. Thor: The Dark World
Tumblr media
This film is often considered the weakest (after Incredible Hulk), but I’m not gonna lie, I find this way more enjoyable than Thor 1.  It’s... not a good film, but if you’re a fan of Thor, or Loki, or just utter nonsense in a fantasy setting then check it out!
9. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Tumblr media
The Epic Romance of Steve and Bucky pt. 2: The Return of Bucky!!  I’m kinda being tongue-and-cheek, this film is honestly pretty amazing.  It’s a political spy-thriller where Cap has to go underground and undercover when Shield (the good guys) is infiltrated by a Nazi organization.  Everything about this film is done wonderfully well, and I highly recommend this one.  (Though, I’m not doing it justice - just ask @ckerouac)
10. Guardians of the Galaxy
Tumblr media
Do you like epic space operas with a quirky sense of humor and a good soundtrack?? Well then Guardians is right up your alley.  The first film Chris Pratt is Star Lord - a scavenger Han Solo type who finds himself caught up in space hijinks.  There are green aliens and talking trees and raccoons and whatever Drax is.  It’s fun and entertaining.  I think general audiences like it more than I do - but I do agree that it’s a wonderfully done film.
11. Avengers: Age of Ultron
Tumblr media
Well, let’s be honest - the Avengers sequel just isn’t what the first film is.  It tries, and has some charming moments, but just doesn’t hold together very well, the main issue being that the villain - Ultron - just isn’t a very good villain.  If you liked Avengers - give it a shot, it introduced Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver and a lot of the next batch of films, but I recommend going into it without much expectation.  However, you can always come back to this one if you want to wait to see if you like some of the later films first.
12. Ant-Man
Tumblr media
Ant-Man, played by the delightful Paul Rudd, is a low stakes fun heist film that’s kind of a mix between Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Ocean’s 11, and every other MCU film.  It’s cute and lighthearted - and if you find Paul Rudd charming, I totally recommend it.  If you’re still on the MCU fence, though, there are other films I’d much rather recommend first.
13. Captain America: Civil War
Tumblr media
Captain America: The Epic Stucky Romance pt. 3 -- Steve Rogers breaks up with his current BF Tony Stark so to be with his one true love, Bucky Barnes... Meanwhile, Tony Stark finds out he’s a dad -- to a teenager.
Okay, I’m kidding.  Here’s the thing...
This film is hard to discuss.  Some people love it (me! - I love the characterization stuff we get in it, plus the deep nods to the comics, and the introduction of Spider-Man), others hate it (@ckerouac - this is not a Cap film, It’s Avengers 2.5.  I want my Cap film!!) and, much like the film itself, there are valid reasons for everyone’s point of view.  It does play a major part in the fabric of the MCU - so I do recommend seeing it at least once so to gather your own opinion. ;)
14. Doctor Strange
Tumblr media
Benedict Cumberbatch plays a mystical Tony Stark Doctor Strange.  I think it’s an interesting film - it’s kind of got an Inception/Matrix vibe about it, but I like both the character and Cumberbatch in the role.  However, I don’t think it’s anywhere near the strongest of the MCU films, so if any of that doesn’t interest you, then it’s okay to skip -- Doctor Strange’s appearances in other films are better if I’m being totally honest.
15. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2
Tumblr media
Guardians 2 is probably my second least favorite film of the bunch.  I think it kind of lacks the charm of the first one and amps up the 12yo humor.  But that’s just me.  If you really liked Guardians 1 check it out! Otherwise, feel free to move on. However, it does gain a few points for Baby Groot.
16. Spider-Man: Homecoming
Tumblr media
Let’s be real - This film is basically Tom Holland being a precious little muffin for two hours, and if you aren’t sold entirely on that premise, well then, I can’t help you. ;)
17. Thor: Ragnarok
Tumblr media
Underwhelmed by the first two Thor films? Thought the Hulk movie sucked? Well - welcome to Thor Ragnarok -- the film that just does not give a shit what came before it and does whatever the hell it wants because it’s like a 70′s acid trip.  And walks away being, perhaps, the best comedy in the MCU.  Everything is delightful about this film -- and if you wanted more from a Thor film, more Loki, more crazy antics with Mark Ruffalo - then you’ve come to the right place.  Also - bonus batshit crazy Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson as an amazing lesbian/bi (?) female warrior, and Jeff Goldblum -- Jeff Goldblum-ing.
18. Black Panther
Tumblr media
Chadwick Boseman is Black Panther - and I’m sure you’ve heard all the stuff swirling about how amazing this film is.  There are two things I personally really enjoy about the film -- the fact that it digs deeper than your average superhero film and is not afraid to tackle relevant questions we’re talking about in society right now, and the fact that the female cast in this one is fantastic and incredibly worth watching.  This one’s a definite must!
19. Avengers: Infinity War
Tumblr media
So...  I’m sure you’ve probably heard all about this one by now.  Here’s what I have to say about it -- I recommend seeing if after you’ve seen all the previous ones that you’ve wanted to see -- it does build on the others in a way a TV show builds to its finale.  And honestly, left me emotionally satisfied (knowing it was the first half of a two parter).  It’s a great film, imo, and worth it.
20. Ant-Man and the Wasp
Tumblr media
Ant-Man and Wasp is a lot like the first film, only ramped up a little more.  After the heaviness of Infinity War, it’s light and a treat.  It’s not entirely (or at all) essential, but it’s a lot of fun if that’s what you’re looking for.
21. Captain Marvel
Tumblr media
Okay, so Captain Marvel isn’t out yet - but the trailer looks delightful, I know who Cap Marvel is from the comics, and it’s time the MCU got its shit together and put a woman in the front.  I say go see it! Plus, I’m sure it’ll be relevant for the next Avengers film.
22. Avengers: End Game
Tumblr media
So, um, also not out yet - but if you’ve liked everything up until now, I’m sure you’ll not only go see - but cry buckets full <3
23. Spider-Man Far From Home
Tumblr media
Let’s be real - we’re all gonna need another two hours of Tom Holland being a precious little muffin after whatever Endgame throws at us.  ;)
///
And that’s it! That’s the MCU in a nutshell (so far).  Marvel has, like, it’s next ten years planned out, so definitely not the end.  But - hey - if anything interests you - I really do recommend checking that out first and coming back to fill in things if you want to know more. :)

Superhero Spotlight: Avengers Endgame Posters - Reveals and Theories
Tumblr media
Alright so we have our first set of characters posters for the upcoming juggernaut that is Avengers: Endgame to conclude and capitalize on the equally huge Avengers: Infinity War and wrap up what has been called the Infinity Saga phase of the MCU.
As these posters have raised many opinions, questions, theories and rather touching memes relating to other franchises and properties, I thought I would give my thoughts to some of the questions and theories as well as raise my own.
Missed Opportunities:
Alright so I can’t really go into what’s good or bad in terms of breaking down the posters because, unlike others, these are simply more or less headshots of the characters. Now on the one hand, this is a rather touching throwback to the first Avengers movie where the character posters there were also somewhat headshots as the main six characters were only shown to the side of the posters half-in in full supersuit attire. But that raises the negative aspect to this choice in that, it would have been nice to have seen the characters that aren’t in full supersuit attire in supersuit attire.
Tumblr media
Now I can understand both sides of the argument to why they didn’t do this. As to why it would have been a good idea is because, for some of them, this is most likely their last hoorah when it comes to starring in an MCU movie and so to show Iron Man, Captain America, War Machine, Spider-Man and Black Panther with their masks/helmets would have been a nice touch rather than just seeing the character end with the head and then the actors take over from the neck up. But at the same time I can see why they didn’t because it adds another layer of drama and likeability to these characters if you can see the defeated look in their eyes and the determination they have to “Avenge the Fallen”.
Tumblr media
Falcon, Star-Lord and Captain Marvel I give passes to on that because the latter two’s headgear isn’t always used and goggles pretty much block out any emotion. Also Thor and Loki’s helmets haven’t been used recently, Ant-Man and Wasp I give passes to in the same way I give Iron Man a pass.
In terms of characters not getting a poster, I do believe this all but confirms that Peter Dinklage’s Eitri will not return because even some of those who died prior to the snap made the cut for a poster and we will get into that.
Others who didn’t get a poster, who I am not so much surprised about but if Wong and Happy got posters why not them, are Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, Maria Hill, Nakia, M’Baku, Erik Selvig and Jane Foster. While we don’t know the fate of the latter four we didn’t know the confirmed fates of Valkyrie or Shuri to be certain.
Tumblr media
Another missed opportunity is not having Ruffalo pictured with some sort of Hulk colouring. I still say his full promo shot for The Avengers which showed the Jekyll/Hyde of the character perfectly was one of the best promos the MCU has had. Whether or not they don’t want to reveal too much of this new Hulk they’re teasing may explain his absence but we’ll see.
The Reveals:
Tumblr media
Alright so three major things are revealed in these posters alone. 1) Valkyrie, Wong and Happy survived the Snap, Valkyrie’s survival most likely means her rumoured appearance in the movie is true. I do find it interesting how all of the shippers who try pairing Cap and Bucky together in a romantic way are now also pairing Carol Danvers and Valkyrie together, yet unlike “Stucky” this pairing actually seems to be a potential thing as not only has Captain Marvel become an overnight LGBT icon akin to Wonder Woman, but because Tessa Thompson has already revealed Valkyrie is bisexual there are grounds for this ship to become canon and for us to have our first LGBT superhero romance in superhero movies either kicking off or teased in Phase 4.
Tumblr media
The second thing that is revealed is Shuri apparently did not survive the snap, I genuinely believe this is a fake-out by Kevin Feige and/or the Russo Brothers as a way of throwing us off guard for a massive shock reveal.
Tumblr media
I suspect, much like a lot of fans, that the shot of Shuri’s image among the list of the missing which also includes Spider-Man and Ant-Man is simply that, a list of the missing...not deceased or dusted. Yes Spider-Man is dead but unless Tony and/or Nebula are back on Earth at the time of this scene, no one knows if he’s actually dusted or not. We know Ant-Man isn’t dusted but trapped in the Quantum Realm so it stands to reason that after being knocked out by the Black Order during the Battle of Wakanda, she came around and simply went into hiding. There is every chance she survived the Snap because unless we see them turn into dust I wouldn’t trust the word of directors.
Tumblr media
The third thing is the fact that only all of Tony’s supporting players survived the Snap. Rhodey, Pepper and Happy all survived to potentially see Iron Man’s last stand? It is weird that both Falcon and Bucky are dusted, no mention of Erik, Darcy and Jane, Fury and Maria Hill are both dusted and Banner lost his supporting players before Mark Ruffalo took over. So out of all the main six’s supporting players only Iron Man has his full team with him, maybe with the exception of Spider-Man but he’s a superhero in his own right.
Tumblr media
Heroes are going to die in this movie, thee is no doubt about that. It is just a question of how gut-punching they want to make the deaths.as memorable and outstanding as possible. In my opinion, any of the main six dying would be a gut punch for the MCU but I feel at least Captain America or Iron Man will be one if not two of the casualties in this movie.
I don’t see Black Widow or Thor dying because Thor’s popularity of late has most likely saved him and he’ll hopefully go off and find a new Asgard while Black Widow, who looks fantastic here by the way, has her own movie coming out.
Banner and Hawkeye are the two I am on the fence about from a business and directorial standpoint, I love Hawkeye and am thrilled Renner looks set to finally full realize the character’s awesomeness here but when you think there have to be some casualties here it doesn’t look good. Also I think Bruce Banner/Hulk has run his course within the MCU.
The Theories:
So I have or have heard 3 major theories to come out of these posters, the first is my own Shuri theory in that her colourless photo here is simply a rouse.
Tumblr media
The second is one I’ve heard revolving around Loki with fans saying that because he legitimately died prior to the Snap that it is a little bit odd that his photo is among those who have been dusted...unless he is going to return in Endgame. Firstly I am believing the same theory applies to Gamora because while she is in the Soul Stone rather than suffocated to death, she was never dusted and therefore technically shouldn’t be among these photos, otherwise where is Heimdell?
But secondly, I genuinely believe this is simply a list of fallen heroes who fell at the hands or Snap of Thanos and, for better or worse, Loki was a hero in the end as he tried standing up to Thanos. Do I think that means he’s getting a revival with everyone else, well I still say they need to make some deaths stick but because Loki is getting his own series and he has survived death a couple of times before, I would this it is plausible for him to make a surprise return.
Tumblr media
The third, long-standing theory is that Marvel and Disney will use the Snap as a way of keeping certain Guardians members dead. This was something brought up in the aftermath of the original blow for James Gunn...but then it turned out he was never really fired and it was all just a fake-out.
When fans thought he had been fired though, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was in flux to the point where it was getting pushed back and fans believed it would be easier on Disney to keep the dusted Guardians members dead and have Rocket and Nebula either join the Avengers or go off on their own, but again this is now not the case.
If Gunn wants to wrap up his trilogy with his original team, as to be honest I think he should, then it makes sense for the four dusted Guardians members to come back. However, in this fan’s personal opinion, I think the MCU and Guardians 3 could do without at least Drax and Mantis. Star-Lord either needs to be held accountable for his stupidity on Titan or just needs to lead the team and be intimidated by Zac Efron’s Adam Warlock in Guardians 3, Gamora needs to return because she is currently in the Soul Stone. But of course, Dave Bautista is Gunn’s biggest supporter and so he will not stay dead.
Overall:
So it is sad because as nice as these posters look, we as fans already know they’re going to bring people back and looking at all of them lined up...if they don’t have a movie sequel or a co-star role in a movie sequel coming up, they have a television series in the works on Disney+. Now this again could be a rouse by Disney to try and lull us into a false sense of security but the ones who have TV shows like Falcon, Vision and Scarlet Witch are all three of my favourites so I don’t want it to be true and them to be reduced to TV but I also don’t want them to remain dead.
Tumblr media
I would say the only ones on the dead side who currently could stay dead are either Hope van Dyne or Nick Fury. Hope because Ant-Man does not have a threequel planned while Doctor Strange, Black Panther, the Guardians and Spider-Man all have upcoming movies. Nick Fury because I can never remember how many more movie’s he has left on his contract and feel Spider-Man Far From Home would be a great fake-out not only if Fury in that movie was an illusion of Mysterio’s but also if it then when further to reveal that Fury was really dead.
So what do you guys think? What’s your favourite poster? Who do you think will stay dead? Do you see a romantic future for Captain Marvel and Valkyrie? Post your comments and check out more Superhero Spotlights as well as other posts

endgame spoilers
overall I liked it!  it was a fun event and (mostly) a fitting, definitive end to the original phase of Avengers.  it’s one of those finales that plays enough fanservice and callbacks to be satisfying, but also does everything it needs to do to tie up narrative arcs with some twists along the way.  like, it’s not a movie I’d rewatch a bunch, but I’m glad it played out how it did for the most part
with the exception of NATASHA!!!  listen, literally any of the characters would do the heroic self-sacrifice to save everyone, and the narrative could justify it as a fitting end for their arc. whatever it takes and all that... but Natasha, unlike Tony -- had only the Avengers as her family and nothing else to live for apparently, had red in her ledger and did it to repay a debt, couldn’t have kids (*deep sigh*) and decided that made Clint’s life more worthwhile....... and you know what FUCK all of that.  no fucking way does any of that mean that she’s better off dead and none of those are good enough reasons for her end. what the FUCK
that said, (and yes I’m immediately contradicting myself) the only things I really wanted from this movie was a satisfying reason for Tony and Steve to never reappear in future movies (and you know that retiring happily into the sunset while still relatively young could never secure that) -- preferably with Tony to be the one to make the self-sacrifice hero play and for Steve to have a happy quiet life somehow.
idk it’s a superhero movie.  someone’s gotta do the big climatic hero move, and the entire arc has been building for Tony to do that.  and it wasn’t a cool-headed either/or choice, it wasn’t deliberately walking into death -- it was a split second decision in the heat of battle.  maybe that makes it different.  also, the greater narrative weight put on it
also maybe, as much as he’s a great character, I’m just tired of him. (oops)
& Steve, sure he could live a happy life rebuilding the world and chilling with his buds, but like... since the ice he’s always been a man out of time yearning for what could have been in his past (while always meeting the challenges of the day of course), he’s always felt misplaced and alone, and... I don’t begrudge him choosing to live a happy life and get that dance he promised Peggy.
maybe it’s that tony deserves to be immemorialized as the ultimate hero that he is; & steve deserves some goddamn rest??
that said what the FUCKING FUCK is up with the time travel mechanics???
cuz you know that Steve “never followed a rule in his goddamn life if it didn’t suit him” Rogers wouldn’t live in obscurity not changing the timeline through: Hydra’s infiltration, Bucky’s brainwashing, more wars, the civil rights movement, every single social event in history, etc etc etc.  so like?? okay maybe changing the past makes it into a different timeline but then how did he wait for them on the bench as if his timeline connected to theirs ???
did ANY of their actions change the past of the current timeline??  like I think the answer is no it’s impossible, but then how do you explain Steve???
also who thought letting Steve be the one to return the stones was a good idea.  who gave Steve unbridled access to the past and thought he wouldn’t just fucking live there.  Bucky knew he would, I’m sure of it.  Natasha would have known (*shakes fist*).  Sam seems like he should have, I mean seriously??  it’s on Steve’s character sheet; he doesn’t do well with moving on.
HELL YEAH to captain america bird man Sam though. fuck yeah I’m here for it
okay other characters...
Ant Man was a breath of fresh air in the first part.  the perfect character to reappear into this dark timeline, give new hope, and react to all the weird space shit (I DIED at the taco scene, probably when I laughed the most).  I didn’t think I cared about him, but I was really touched by the Cassie scenes.
my favorite Rocket moment was him petting Paul Rudd’s head like a puppy.  yes please.  also, snapping some sense into Thor.  he had a bit part as expected, but it was good.
Hawkeye... stop trying to make Hawkeye happen. I just.... don’t care. and I could not stop sniggering at his hair long enough to feel sad about anything.
yes all the treatment of Thor’s weight gain and alcoholism was fucked up, played for cheap laughs, not all that funny.  but also like -- they’re clearly shown as manifestations of his corrosive guilt and trauma and self-harm, and by the end, he becomes the brave hero again without any sort of getting-into-shape losing weight montage scene.  it’s his perception of himself not his physicality. plus like, he’s the Goofy Avenger tbh and idk if there was a serious way to show him at a lower emotional low point than Infinity War without getting too dark for his brand(tm).  low standards on my part maybe? but whatever, he didn’t die.
Valkyrie HELL YEAH... I was so giddy about her flying around on the Pegasus.  where did she even get it???  I don’t care it was amazing.  all hail Valkyrie, King of Asgard.
actually??? wait. fuck that. Thor needs to accept responsibility and live up to being king of his people.  Valkyrie needs to go on kooky space adventures and find herself.  seriously!!
good for Bruce on the hulk integration thing, but I missed watching Mark Ruffalo’s human non-CGI face
Nebula, baby girl, you’ve come so far ;_; sorry you didn’t get put on airplane mode for the time travel, whooops.
the 100% best part of the movie for me, the only point at which I got chills, was (of course) Sam chiming in over Cap’s earpiece on your left and flying out of the wizard hole in a glowing swoop of glory. beautiful majestic bird man.
(and then the armies piling through after & Wakanda. yes.)
Wanda reappeared and I admit I totally forgot about her until that point.  and then I realized I also totally forgot about Vision until the end when she was talking to Hawkeye by the river jklsdfjkl. okay then
Carol just decided that she likes space more than Earth I guess? sure whatever.  great haircut though
also... New Asgard is in Norway, presumably, but it’s a sovereign kingdom???  what did they do when the Norwegian government stopped by??  paid for the land and said “look we’ve been through a lot so just let us fish and drink beer in peace. also, we’re the people from your myths and have inhuman stamina/strength/science so what, feasibly, are you gonna do about it anyway” I just want to see that conversation.
oh another thing. I wanted some resolution or cathartic followup to the themes in Infinity War -- killing the one to save many, trading lives, etc. which. this really didn’t do at all.  there wasn’t a consistent theme in the same way? idk I’ll have to think about it more, but for that reason alone IW is a much better movie imo
really excited about (As)guardians of the Galaxy, vol 3, Search for Gamora.  Rocket is going to be unbearable in the best way.

Beyond Avengers 4 (looking ahead at Phase 4 of the MCU)
WARNING: SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
We currently know very little about what comes after AVENGERS 4.  This makes sense, as we really don't (officially) know that much about the follow up to INFINITY WAR.
We DO know that head honcho Kevin Feige has stated that there will soon be a divide In the MCU... everything before AVENGERS 4, and everything after.  The face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is changing... we don't even know if we'll get a 'Phase 4'.  Personally, I hope we do.  I think it's nice to have a group of films.  It helps with marketing.  It helps when charting character arcs.  You don't end up with an endless mash of movie titles (I'm looking at you DCEU!).  It helps gives direction.
For the moment, let's assume it IS called Phase 4.  if only to keep me happy.  What can we expect from it?  Well, boss man Kevin has apparently plans for 20 more films after AVENGERS 4.  That's basically as much as the first three phases put together.  It will be a mixture of sequels and new titles.
Let's start with what we know.
SPIDER-MAN: THE NEXT AVENGER
Tumblr media
Okay, so I've made up the title, but it's better that HOMECOMING 2 (and there's already been a SPIDER-MAN 2). Okay, so let's get this straight - yes Peter Parker crumbled to dust following Thanos' click, but we already know we have this movie coming.  It'll be the first movie in Phase 4.  Obviously Marvel co-runs Spideyflicks with Sony, so they'd want a follow up as soon as possible... and that's in mid 2019!    What's more, it's been guaranteed that an Avenger will appear.  Now, it won't be Iron Man again (and I doubt Happy Hogan will feature either)... and whilst it could easily be one of the newer characters, I predict (and have done before), that it'll be Mark Ruffalo's Dr Bruce Banner and the Hulk.  He's sciency, and more importantly, Ruffalo is meant to have one more film on his contract following AVENGERS 4.  I could be wrong about Ruffalo, but Tom Holland will definitely be back (there'll be no switch over to Miles Morales), Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), Zendaya (Michelle) and Jacob Batalon (Ned) will all surely return too..  It'll be interesting to see which villains they use.  A VENOM movie is coming out, entirely Sony, starring Tom Hardy (which may or may not cameo Hollan), as well as BlackCat and Silver Sable movie coming too.  Will the MCU decide to use more characters that Sony haven't used before, or now start reusing known characters such as Green Goblin or Dr Octopus?  Filming will start later this year, so casting news will surely have to start hitting... giving away that Spider-Man isn't really dead...
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL 3
Tumblr media
James Gunn confirmed this, and has apparently finished the script.  It's definitely coming in 2020, and will likely be the first movie of three that year - probably around May time.  Now, obviously, there's a small matter that all but one guardian have died.   Will the film be entirely about Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper)?  Of course not.  Just as sure as I am that Spidey will be safe, I think all the others that disappeared from the click will be back.  Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Groot (Vin Diesel) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) will all be back. The big question mark for me is Gamora (Zoe Saldana). She died a different way, and that could be a permanent. Whilst I'm sure Saldana's back in AVENGERS 4, that could just be a tie to the soul stone and Thanos.  beyond that, I really don't know.  It could be that, just how VOL 2 came right after the first movie, VOL 3 could follow that... it might all be set before INFINITY WAR, in which case Gamora will be as right as rain.  If the movie truly follows on from AVENGERS 4, then we won't really know until that movie has come out... or VOL 3 starts filming before that movie comes out as we see Saldana on set. Karen Gillan's Nebula survived the most recent movie, but I personally believe she'll die in AVENGERS 4... so don't think she'll be in VOL 3.  If I'm wrong though, she will be...depending on whether Gamora is.  (I think Nebula's storyline is pretty tied to her 'sister'). Mid credits in VOL 2 told us that Ayesha had created Adam Warlock, so he could well be a main focus of the sequel - despite Gunn suggesting otherwise.  Sly Stallone's Stakar Ogord assemble his older generation of guardians too... so they could play a part.  And what happened to Sean Gunn's Kraglin?  It's possibly, Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) could join the team following AVENGERS 4, whilst she waits to be given her own sequel. Maybe Howard the Duck (voiced by Seth Green) could play a bigger part than a cameo.  No, I didn't think so either. For me the biggest question here is the time placement... before INFINITY WAR or after AVENGERS 4. The more I think about it, the more I think it could be before...
BLACK WIDOW
Tumblr media
Okay, so we don't know this is happening... officially.  But it IS totally happening.  Writers have been assigned and Chris Evans pretty much confirmed it.  However, unlike the previous movies I've talked about so far, this film does NOT mean Scarlett Johansson survives AVENGERS 4.  It's highly expected that the movie will be a prequel, going back into her history as a spy. There's a lot they can do with this, and it also means a lot of characters could pop up. There's already been speculation that Sebastian Stan could feature as The Winter Soldier (back when he was still under Hydra control).  Obviously everyone expects (and will probably be disappointed if not) Clint Barton to appear.  It sort of feels like Jeremy Renner has got a bum deal, so flashing out their friendship would work wonders.  There's also the suspicion that Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) could appear... about what about fellow agents Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell).  Any of them could feature to some degree. After playing a supporting character since IRON MAN 2 (back in 2010), it'll be nice for Johansson to headline a film in the MCU, finally. In a year, Marvel like to have at least one sequel and one new film.  I expect BLACK WIDOW will likely act as the 'new' movie that year, probably sandwiched between the two sequels GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL 3 and...
DOCTOR STRANGE 2
Tumblr media
You see, this is the problem... another character who disappeared at the end of INFINITY WAR... back for a sequel.  I suppose it's possible the sequel could be set between the first movie and INFINITY WAR, but I doubt it.  Now all the sequels can be set before, and I feel Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) will a major force going forward in the MCU.  Both Kevin Feige and James Gunn have stated the franchise will be a lot more 'cosmic' going forward, and Strange's magic, and use of different realms, will likely play a strong part in that. I think DOCTOR STRANGE 2 will round off 2020, with Benedict Wong returning as Wong, Rachel McAdams getting more screentime as Christine Palmer and Chiwetel Ejiofor playing a much bigger role as Mordo edged towards what could well be the 'new Loki'. I don't know much about the comics for this particular character, but word is Nightmare will be the primary villain this time around.  No word on who might play him though... but with Cumberbatch and Ejiofor at the front line, it'll need to be someone impressive.
BLACK PANTHER 2
Tumblr media
Obviously the first movie was a massive hit.  Obviously there's going to be a sequel. Obviously there's a problem because the title character died at the fingerclick in INFINITY WAR.  However, unlike with Strange or Spider-Man, the sequel doesn't necessarily need T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) to live to go ahead.  In the comics, Shuri (Letitia Wright) becomes Black Panther, and Queen of Wakanda.  Now, if T'Challa's death was 'real'... that should already have happened before/during AVENGERS 4.  Wright could be the new BP!  Shuri was certainly popular enough, and Boseman could still appear via a spirit walk-thing. You know, that thing they do.  He apparently has 5 movies on his contract.  Now that could work as CIVIL WAR , BLACK PANTHER, INFINITY WAR, AVENGERS 4 and... BLACK PANTHER 2.  It could. Of course, I don't think that's the case.  Well, actually, in the comics, both T'Challa and Shuri are Black Panthers... and I reckon that might be where they take it - but Chadwick Boseman's character will be the lead, and alive.  I also expect Danai Gurira's Okoye, Luputa Nyong'O's Nakia, Angela Bassett's Ramonda all to return.  Probably Winston Duke's M'Baku.  Possibly Martin Freeman's Everett K Ross. I also predict Marvel will place the movie around the opening of May in 2021.  That's where they put all the films they're confident in.
ANT-MAN 3 (aka ANT-MAN AND THE WASP 2)
Tumblr media
We haven't seen ANT-MAN AND THE WASP yet, but you have to assume Marvel are working on the assumption there will be a sequel.  When they announced their third phase slate, an ANT-MAN sequel wasn't included.  They waited to see how the first would do .  By the time they finally get around to announcing Phase 4, I expect they'll known whether ANT-MAN 3 will be on the table.  My guess is, it will be.  Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, with Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne will probably head-line again. Beyond that, with both ANT-MAN AND THE WASP and AVENGERS 4 to come, I wouldn't like to predict more than that. Other than I think it'll be released in 2021 - although it's worth pointing out that both ANT-MAN movies have been released AFTER an AVENGERS movie... so it could be held back until after...
AVENGERS 5
Tumblr media
We know there'll be one... the question is, when. Typically AVENGERS movies are released at the start of may, three years apart. THE AVENGERS came out in 2012, AGE OF ULTRON in 2015 and now INFINITY WAR in 2018.  Obviously, we're breaking that tradition with AVENGERS 4 in 2019.  The earliest I expect AVENGERS 5 will be May 2022, but with an expanding slate of sequels, and the intention of including new titles, they might push it back a year to 2023. It will, in theory, be the first to not feature the likes of Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth).  Nor might it include Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) or Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).  I mean, it might, but it's unlikely. So who will it include?  Personally, I have no idea who the villain will be but as for heroes... I guarantee it'll feature Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and Black Panther (probably Chadwick Boseman, possibly Letitia Wright).  It'll probably feature Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and Wasp (Evangeline Lilly). There's also someone else it might feature.  You'll notice I missed out Steve Rogers from the earlier list?  Well, as far as Chris Evans goes, he'll not be back after AVENGERS 4, but I doubt that can be said for...
CAPTAIN AMERICA 4
Tumblr media
In the comics, the mantle of 'Captain America' has been used by several people - most notably Bucky Barnes. Whilst Evans only had 6 films on his contract (extended to 7 to encompass AVENGERS 4), Sebastian Stan signed up for 12 movies.  Right now, he's only spent four of those - the CAPTAIN AMERICA trilogy, and INFINITY WAR.  AVENGERS 4 takes him to five and if the rumoured appearance in BLACK WIDOW happens, that's only half of his contract.  That leaves (potentially) three more Cap movies, and three more Avenger movies. I've no idea who the villains will be in a fourth Cap movie, unless the movie itself is a 'Battle for the Shield', an idea I came up with that I'm taken with.  Anthony Mackie is already Falcon in the franchise, and in the comics, Sam Wilson becomes Cap also.  There's also the potential for Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) to take on the shield.  There could be a three-way tussle for the mantle. Ultimately Stan will probably take the lead, as it seems to be the order of things.  As a side note, Wilson's Cap is trained under an older Steve Rogers, his age caught up with him. It's possible, rather that outright killing Chris Evans' character, they swap him out for an older actor, to train the younger successor.  Possibly not, but it's an option. The biggest question here is, when do they roll out this new Cap?  Before or after AVENGERS 5?  THE FIRST AVENGER lead into the first film to unite the characters, and a new character picking up the shield could do the same.  We'll just ignore that both Bucky and Wilson turned to dust.  They'll be back. Extra note - despite the title, with a new actor headlining, Marvel might treat the movie as a new franchise.
CAPTAIN MARVEL 2
Tumblr media
The trickiest one on the list really... as the first CAPTAIN MARVEL comes out next year, certainly less than two months before AVENGERS 4. That will probably be enough time for Marvel to figure out if the movie deserves a sequel.  So far, only THE INCREDIBLE HULK has stood alone, with no sequels to speak of. I'll lay money on it staying that way, and CAPTAIN MARVEL 2 will be in the Phase 4 slate.   If the first is set in the 90s, then a sequel could be set in the 00s. More likely though it'll be present, so she can lead the Avengers.  As I mentioned earlier though, it's possible (rather than shoehorning a sequel into the slate) Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) could find herself back in space, now with GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL 3... possibly filling the void left by Gamora.
NEWBIES
Tumblr media
This is where we get really sketchy.  There's been rumbles of a film for THE ETERNALS, it might be time NAMOR gets some underwater adventures, or if the day-walking vampire BLADE comes in on the actions.  Let's also not forget that the deal with Fox will mean the X-MEN, FANTASTIC FOUR and DEADPOOL can crossover into the MCU.  It won't be yet... but look how quickly Spider-Man entered the area.
If I had to predict Phase 4, I'd go with the following:
July 2019 - SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING 2 (confirmed) - May 2020 - GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL 3 (basically confirmed) July 2020 - BLACK WIDOW (sort of new) November 2020 - DOCTOR STRANGE 2 - May 2021 - BLACK PANTHER 2 July 2021 - CAPTAIN MARVEL 2 November 2021 - NEW FRANCHISE (example BLADE or NAMOR) - February 2022 - CAPTAIN AMERICA 4 (sort of new) May 2022 - AVENGERS 5 July 2022 - ANT-MAN 3 / ANT-MAN & THE WASP 2 So there we are, those are my predictions for Phase 4. How wrong am I?  I expect we'll have an idea come Comic Con 2019!

infinity war thoughts
spoilerspoilerspoilers
a absolute mess of my random thoughts and feelings about the movie in no actual order. SO MANY SPOILERS DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU DO NOT WANT IT TO BE SPOILED! IT IS UNDER A CUT!
Quick Summary:
Tumblr media
- They wanted me to die with Pete, huh?
-It honestly hit all the boxes for me. Emotion, Humour, and Spectacle. It was a fun, absolutely excruciatingly painful, exciting movie. Whether or not it was technically good I could care less, at least right now. and I’ve only seen it once so far so I’m not quite thinking of any plotholes rn.
-(Like Mark Ruffalo) I crired/nearly cried 3 times. #1, the logo. (Yeah, it happened to me with Fantastic Beasts as well.) #2, Gamora...and #3 Peter. We will dive into those later
- RED SKULL! Like yooo.. i was like sweet dementor, and then it was oh,, its gonna be someone. who is it gonna be?! and then you saw that face and YES! I love when things come full circle. And I remember the theories from when Cap TFA came out, people saying no he can’t actually be dead, he has to be blank. Or he’s probably blank. etc. But sidenote, was that actually Hugo Weaving? maybe i was just seeing/hearing wrong but he felt a little off. And I remember Hugo saying he maybe wouldn’t want to come back. i dunno. but it was great. Especially with this movie that is just bringing everything back round.
-lemme just say that i called Loki being the major character to die in the first five minutes  (i did not expect Heimdall tho RIPinpeace) but also so did everyone else online... BUT I don’t think he is completely gone... this could be just hopeful musings, but I don’t think he is dead forever. Not like what will happen with others ( maybe something like some time travel to resurrect) but like the trickster he is, I think he did something along the lines of the end of The Dark World again. When Thanos is killing him, he kinda starts turning blue, but he never goes back to his Jotun form completely. If he was truly really dead, don’t you think all of his illusions would be gone, including the one to make him look like Tom Hiddleston? Also his words before he dies “You will never be a god.” “The sun will shine upon us again, brother.” those are hella great last words, but with Loki there could always be a hidden meaning and some type of snark. Also I am not okay with Thor’s last words to Loki being “You really are the worst brother.” With that being said... I won’t be mad if this is the last we see of Loki. Like I said great last words, and between this small part and Ragnarok, Loki has definitely come around. Maybe he didn’t get to completely make amends, and could probably never after New York. But he has gained the trust and love, and redemption in the eyes of his Brother (also he calls himself Odinson, like FINALLY feels apart of the family completely) and thats all that matters. Great Story Arc and Character Development my guy. (speaking of character development “We have a Hulk.” YOOOOOOO!!!)
-Loki having to watch Thanos torture Thor, and then Thor having to watch Thanos kill Loki c: fun.
-I’m thinking the people who were physically killed like Heimdall, Gamora, Loki, and Vision, are the best contenders for the permanent deaths. “But they said all deaths will be permanent? and no resurrections this time.”
Tumblr media
(mostly because we know there is gonna be a spiderman 2 and black panther 2 so bois can’t be gone)
-I follow Tom Holland on instagram, have since Civil War, and I know of his friend Harrison, who got a cameo! He is on the school bus, a seat or two behind Peter when he first notice’s Ebony Maw’s ship in the sky. I think Harrison also stood in for Tom in Homecoming, so it’s just cool that Tom got a friend a cameo in the movie. Especially a movie so big, and secretive.
-just to get off of sad for a bit, lets talk about some of the great new interactions/team ups. Even the ones that were basically just one-liners were absolutely amazing. Thor with Rocket (and Groot). Thor with Quill. Dr.Strange and Tony. (Tony with Wong, “Wong, you’re invited to the wedding.”)  Dr.Strange and Quill. Bucky and Rocket (We all knew it was going to happen but...amazing. ). Okoye Nat Wanda!! GROOT WITH CAP! “I am groot.” “I am steve rogers.” We barely got any Bucky and Steve which I think is kinda a good thing, it would’ve taken up a lot of time, and there was too much to get to in this one, but I bet you there is at least one deleted scene...there has to be. It’s also kinda good for the story and Cap’s arc. Like boi lost his best friend AGAIN, and this time he saw it. 100%. He isn’t in a ravine, or anything. He turned into dust right in front of his eyes. It’s kinda hard to come back from that. So he has even more motivation to kill that kaiju grape ape now. The smallest bruceNat nod. It was a nice way of the Russo brothers to allow the fans who would’ve had an absolute fit to not see any more of it, while still acknowledging that it is a canon thing. Because it would’ve been bad to just throw it away/ignore it because it did happen, and some people need to accept it.
-No one’s characterization was thrown away!! I know that was a concern for a lot of people, that after all that Ragnarok did for Thor and Banner, Vol.2 for the guardians, etc. that some traits would be thrown away in order to keep a more stereotypical, palatable characters, or vibe to the entire film but nahhh. The Russo brothers worked with Ryan Coogler, James Gunn, Taika Watiti, and were like, who are these characters now? And stuck to it. No petty Rian Johnson stuff here folks.
-If yall needed any more reminders that Tony has extreme anxiety and PTSD, all BECAUSE OF THANOS, (mostly because of Thanos, some definitely comes from when he got kidnapped and his childhood) and now he has come face to face with that. The thing that made him make Ultron, the thing that pushed a wedge between the team.
-okoye looking at bruce in the hulkbuster armor after he tripped...
-also we get to see the hulk fully one (1) time, and as much as I dislike that (especially after seeing him in ragnarok) we got Banner so like, not a win, but a win tho. Also Hulk just wasn’t havin’ it. After what Thanos did, he peaced out. Bruce can deal with this, I’m tired of being the one to get beat up.
-Thor’s confirmed age of something like 1500 or 1050 years. Like what must this be like for him...it’s been what, 6 years for him since he got to earth... give or take...to meet people and grow relationship and the lose them, it must’ve all been so fast for him.
-Drax thinking he could stand so still no one could see him.
-Thinking Thor was going to treat Gamora like Drax did, but instead is like yeah “family is rough.”
-”Is Footloose still the best movie ever made?” “It never was.”
-This kinda wrecked the T.H.A.N.O.S theory...because how would you get H from that... maybe ‘Her’ ? if you really want it to fit...
-Rocket’s funny little “i have a lot to lose” quip that was just funny and then after the movie you think about it again and all of a sudden you’re crying again?
-When Tony got stabbed I really thought that was gonna be the end for him (at least for this movie) and I almost flipped... I also thought that when everyone was disintegrating in the end that Nebula’s human flesh parts where going to turn to ash just leaving the mechanical parts to drop to the floor.  and I’m not gonna lie, when Thanos took Gamora and was telling her about how she knows where the Soul Stone is and they show Nebula, there was a yellow/orange light inside of Nebula’s body...i thought it was going to be in Nebula...i don’t know why but... i did for a second. I had a lot of theories and thoughts before and during that were incorrect to say the least... I also thought during the end credits that there was some glimmer of it saying that it was sending to COULSON but...alas...no dice.
-GROOT SEEING THOR STRUGGLING ON THE GROUND IN THE FORGE  AND FINALLY LOOKING UP FROM HIS GAME AND REALIZING HE CAN DO SOMETHING AND OMG!!
-They almost got the gauntlet off of Barney’s wrist but then Peter just had to know what happened with Gamora... however I bear no ill will towards him... beause like...Obviously they had their deal, but I can’t help but think that maybe he thought that...at least she won’t die this way. Maybe I’ll get to see her again. Maybe we can do this and she will be back. Only to find out naw. Grimace just killed her himself. And like Peter said to Thor, how long is this after he found out that his dad killed his mom? and had his father figure die, and had to kill his own father? mans been going through a lot so yeah...i can understand not being entirely clear headed and calm right now.
-I know some of yall are gonna trip, or currently are tripping over this but to me it was an A1 decision. To make Thanos sympathetic. No, before anyone says anything I do not condone Thanos’ actions, or agree with him, but he is an amazing villain for the sheer fact that, he has motives outside of being evil man, and you see a side of him that isn’t arrogant or evil. In the same vein as Killmonger. You can, potentially, understand why. Especially because it is the same goal as Tony, Save Humanity/The Universe/Whatever. Create a better world. However unlike Ultron for example, there is drive to it. He has a backstory. He was hurt, people he grew up with and knew were killed. His home torn apart. And he wants to prevent that from happening to others/again...by doing it himself. Like... you ever read a story and think about how you would rewrite it? It still has to have those essential elements that make the story that story, but it could just be done better? Thats Thanos. He sees there is a plan out there, that certain things are gonna end up a certain way at some point, and he decides to just take the wheel on it, and do it how he wants to, and to benefit himself and his lineage (he does say that he wanted Gamora to sit on his throne.) Also, he actually truly cares for Gamora. It’s not a trick, it’s not just for his benefit, he truly loves her. And I think that is something that may get overlooked, (by fans at least) hopefully not though. Because it is a HUGE part of this story. He cares enough about her for her to be the thing he sees when he kinda gets knocked out (?) and when that vision of young gamora asks him what it cost for him to achieve his goal, he looks at her and says everything. Gamora (and possibly his other children as well. But Gamora was specifically mentioned as his favorite daughter before) was his everything. Mantis even says that Thanos was in extreme emotional pain, traumatized and in mourning, after what he did to Gamora. It is 100% a fact that Thanos loved Gamora as his daughter. And like I see people saying oh it was too rushed and out of nowhere to make me feel anything, and thats fine. However for me, I felt that in the MCU, we never actually got to know him enough, that accepting the fact that he cared about Gamora, was plausible. Yeah we knew his reputation from people’s accounts of him and like..the three or so times we saw him he was big scary grape ape trying to kill people, but we never got to know him beyond that. If you expected him to be a one sided, flat character then I get why you might be unimpressed with his characterization here, it does seem out of nowhere. But if you watched the movies, thinking there was more to him, then I think you probably enjoyed his character here.
-”this is the only way.” nor gonna lie, not a huge doc strange man myself, and him giving the time stone to Thanos kinda irked me (even if the animation, plucking it out of the sky was actually amazing, similar to the hand thing in Suicide Squad with Enchantress/June Moone) because it is the stone that helps him get the mind stone, and if he hadn’t had that, he wouldn’t have been able to get Vision back, but then its like...oh yeah he saw basically every outcome. He knows. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY. I have to believe that he gave Thanos the time stone because he knows that thats what leads the survivors to victory (and we know the time stone in particular is gonna play a big role because of the time travel in A4) and he did it, in exchange for Tony’s life because Tony is part of that outcome, Tony has to be alive if earth, if the universe stands a chance. and I think this leads into the fact that in the Infinity Gauntlet run in the comics, Thanos does possess all the stones/gems, and NEBULA steals the gauntlet and undoes everything Thanos did. So I’m not saying that thats exactly whats going to happen, but I’m also not saying that it’s not a coincidence that Nebula is still alive and Thanos has a completed gauntlet...kind of....i feel like I remember it being smashed up after Thanos snaps...am I remembering wrong?
-I feel like the idea of “end game” comes up a lot.... A lot of people say it when referring to this (tony says it in Age of Ultron). I mean there is at least 3 separate times when someone refers to the end game. I don’t know why that stood out to me but it did :/
-Peter Dinklage <3 Also, “You’re going to be killed.” “Only if I die!” “yeah...thats what getting killed means.”
-Nebula <3
-the stan lee cameo OF COURSE <3 “you act like you’ve never seen a spaceship before!”
-pepper and tony finally officially engaged c:
-Whats Thanos’ thing with bubbles??
-MY GIRL MANTIS WAS UNBELIEVABLY PRICELESS DURING THAT FIGHT WITH THANOS ON TITAN!!! Like everyone worked together and used their skills, which are perfectly highlighted and complimented in that scene, A+, it was beautiful. Teamwork! but Mantis just stood out to me. Thanos could’ve took two fingers and threw her halfway across the world (probably more honestly) and girl sits on his shoulders and pushes her powers as far as they can go to subdue him enough to nearly get the gauntlet off. Without her, it would’ve been 100x harder, if not just downright impossible for them to do what they did.
-Steve says Tony is the Earth’s BEST defender (meanwhile...
Tumblr media
When I cried:
-The logo. Specifically kinda, when the Marvel Studios changed to Marvel Stud10s. Like memories of the first Iron Man, first Avengers, and all my favorite moments from the entire MCU just kinda hit. Like the realization that the MCU has been my life for so long. Like... It was a lot.
-Gamora....The fiercest/deadliest woman in the galaxy, Gamora leads herself to her death. Like having Peter kill her would’ve been sad but...that. Also, the bit when Peter is going to kill her heavily mirrors Vision and Wanda later on. Vision/Gamora has Wanda/Peter agree to kill them if Thanos gets them. Because they believe their life is nothing, a small sacrifice, compared to half the universe. They obviously don’t want to because they love each other. They state that to the person, letting their love be proclaimed officially on screen with the words “i love you” for the first time, before doing what is needed. Both times is heart wrenching and tearful, but ultimately meaningless in a way. Because both times Thanos undoes it. Thanos makes the bubbles out of Peter’s gun, and turns back time to bring back Vision/Mind Stone. Then, he gets to do it himself. He hurls Gamora off the cliff and pulls the mindstone from Vision’s head. Both times someone is forced to kill the one person they truly love (in a romantic sense) only to watch them die again/know they died in a crueler way. Issa lot.
-Back to Gamora’s death... Gamora thinks that Thanos is finally trumped. She is laughing in his face. This is what she has wanted her entire life. To see him fail, especially because of himself. Because of the person he is. To have the confirmation that she has something he never will (think harry potter and voldemort “you’ll never know love, or friendship” something Gamora has only recently acquired for herself in the past 4 or so years.) To think she was only a pawn in his game. That his grooming was for his own benefit. But then he turns around...and those tears are streaming down his cheeks, and she realizes...no...He did care about her truly. He did love her fully. he did see great things in her (his idea of great anyway) Enough for her life to be the only thing that could possibly be in the way of him and his goal. she just shakes her head. Tries to KILL HERSELF!  But he pulls her away (in a scene that somewhat mimics when he first took her off her home planet, to me it is similar) and pushes her off that cliff. and she falls looking up at him and I can’t imagine what is going through her mind... maybe thinking that she was the key. If she was a little smarter, or a little stronger, or a little this or that, maybe she could have stopped all of this. That she walked herself right to her (and her loved ones) own death. Just blaming it all on herself....
-Peter...when i tell you I was motionless, except for being tense and shaky... that one hit me hard for soooo many reasons. Let’s just recap the scene so ya’ll can truly suffer with me. Peter watches Dr. Strange, Mantis, Drax, and Peter Quill disintegrate, and he is scared, and he looks to Tony... “I don’t feel so good...” and he slowly starts to go too. “I don’t know whats happening.” He just LATCHES onto Tony “I don’t want to go. please I don’t want to go...” over and over until he is gone, but not before saying “i’m sorry.”...that broke my heart into a million pieces, made me so scared... it got in deep. The absolute fear. this is a teenage boy, who was just hours earlier on a school bus with his friend, and now he is staring death in the face. The only solace I can think of was that he was there with his only father figure, the guy who put his faith in Peter, and protected him as much as he can, but this...this was out of tony’s control... Let’s jump back to homecoming and Tony’s line.. “and if you die..I feel like thats on me.” Tony has wanted to support Peter, a bright, talented, (funny), young man and allow him to discover and become the man he can be, a better man than Tony himself, gave him a suit, and monitored him so he could do that as safe as possible (well as safe as you possibly can be in this universe) and tried to be as on deck as a man as busy as Tony can be, what does he ultimately get? That kid dying in his arms. THE ASH OF THAT KID ON HIS HANDS. His death is literally on Tony’s hands. The thing he feared the most. That he was going to be the cause of the deaths of the people closest to him. No choice felt right, but he continued to make them because its all on him. And this is what he gets...Tony who was earlier talking with Pepper about having kids. Excitedly and Happily might I add. Now having the closest thing he had to a son, die in his arms. And it’s no accident that Peter’s disintegration takes the longest. Compared to everyone elses (at least to me) Peter’s felt like hours.
-The disintegration...basically everyone dies in front of someone who cares about them in a way. T’Challa while reaching out to Okoye. Bucky while walking up to Steve. Groot looking over at Rocket. Maria in front of Nick. Peter and Drax watch Mantis, Then Peter watches Drax, and then Peter by himself (Nebula also watches all of them, though I’m unsure how much she cares for them). Peter Parker in Tony’s arms. Doctor Strange with Tony after Strange saved his life. Sam while Rhodey is calling his name. Wanda holding Vision’s dead body, looking up (to the heavens, maybe happy/relieved about it, she gets to be with him or there is no life without him so why not, i don’t know her belief system). And it’s not limited to the disintegrations. Wanda watches Vision die (twice, once by her own hands), Thanos watches Gamora fall (but he pushed her...so like...dont do that maybe), Thor has to watch Hemidall and Loki get killed. Even Corvus Glaive has to live longer than Proxima Midnight (his wife, at least in the comics...and I think he was the last of the Black Order to die, so while he may not have directly saw, all of his (adoptive) brothers and sisters died before him he had to carry that weight) So in summation for all the surviving characters (or even character that managed to just outlive another):
Tumblr media
-List of things I’m scared/excited of for the next movie: Everyone coming back together and informing each other of the lives lost (Rocket finding out all the other Guardians are gone (except Nebula I guess), M’Baku and the remaining members of Wakanda learning about T’Challa, Tony finding out about literally everyone), If they decide to show it, the awkward or supporting relationship Nebula and Tony are gonna have to make because they are trapped on Titan together and she is probably gonna be the one to bring him back to Earth. Tony and Steve’s presumably first confrontation and talk since Civil War. How Scott is going to be dragged in this. I kinda doubt it, but government interference hindering a battle is a possibility, after Sam just shut Ross down, I could see them busting in at a bad time. Time Travel. (Please let rhodey go back in time so don cheadle can be face to face with himself that is actually Terrence Howard)
-List of some characters that I need a status report on: Aunt May, Ned, Michelle, Pepper, Happy, Korg, Miek, Jane Foster, Valkyrie, Shuri, (miles morales...), Kraglin, Scott Lang, Wong, Sharon Carter, (the agents of shield...the defenders...) John C. Reilly's character from Guardians (I know Xandar is already decimated...but maybe?) The grandmaster.  like Thanos supposedly wiped out HALF OF THE UNIVERSE with that snap...some of them are gone. (i don’t care about clint tbh, but i do care about Linda Cardellini)
-List of things the movie was missing: Shuri and Peter. Some kind of scene with Uncle Ben played by Tobey Maguire (okay maybe not in this movie, but I’ll hold out hope for spidey 2), Deadpool/SHIELD/Defenders cameo (i’ll wait). An after credit scene mirroring the Shawarma scene, but with Okoye and some others in a Starbucks, maybe the next movie...
-The movie itself: From the second the movie ended I knew the types of criticism that the movie was going to get from critics, causal and hardcore fans, etc. It was too fast, too stuffed, characterization didn’t make sense, the ending was unsatisfying, there was no point in this one when we know everyone is going to come back in the next one, etc. But like... and I can only speak for myself here, but, as someone who has had marvel as a part of their life, their entire life, it was amazing. There is the usual fact of just seeing these characters brought to life is fascinating. And having watched every MCU movie, and the shows, and one shots, you’ve seen how this story has been weaved together and yeah there were definitely missteps along the way, and mistakes and plotholes (this is a huge undertaking, with SOOO many different people working on it, that stuff is going to happen) but it is so satisfying to see an easter egg or line from Iron Man or The Avengers, whatever,  come to fruition. I think it is important to remember that while it may be fun as a standalone film, that is NOT it’s true place or status. It is meant to be a culmination of years of hardworking and passion and dedication. It is truly a film for the fans. A thank you of sorts. Of course anyone could walk into the theater and have fun with it for a few hours, but it’s true nature is a part of this universe. It is not one movie, there is another part coming out next year (apparently). Seeing this and saying that it was bad because it doesn’t work perfectly as a solo film is like opening to a random page of the fourth harry potter book, and reading a handful of pages. Maybe you’ve opened onto an exciting scene, and it’s enjoyable to read for a bit, but thats not the whole experience, not the whole story.  Also remember, the movie isn’t bad just because your favorite character died.

ADD Reviews Avengers: Infinity War
Tumblr media
[Note: Contains spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War.] "We live inside a dream," Special Agent Dale Cooper once said on Twin Peaks. And so it has been for millions of people during the decade of Marvel Studios films that launched in 2008 with Jon Favreau's Iron Man.
I felt we had dodged a bullet back then, in the casting of talented but troubled actor Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, after talk of Tom Cruise taking the role, and Marvel even publishing comic books with Stark drawn to resemble Cruise (a tactic which would actually work with Samuel L. Jackson, to the delight of just about everyone). Cruise was not right for the role. At that point I had been living with Tony Stark in my life for over thirty years, and I knew Downey would embody that part like no one else could. Thankfully Favreau knew it as well and convinced the studio to bet on Downey along with him.
But despite the unlimited potential in the characters owned by Marvel Comics, mostly borne out of the imagination and visual power of the late Jack Kirby, I wasn't expecting much from Iron Man and I doubt anyone in the movie industry was, either. Marvel's characters had been licensed time and time again to film and TV and even radio shows, and the one that gained the most traction was the TV series The Incredible Hulk, which took a few elements from Jack Kirby and Stan Lee's creation and then used them to retell The Fugitive. Similarly the less-well-regarded Spider-Man TV series used almost none of the essential aspects of that comic book's mythology, instead using the character's name and costume as a small part of a generic, episodic crime drama, not even bothering to steal the plot of a successful show, like The Incredible Hulk did.
The relative success of those shows hinged on a number of factors, among them the lack of alternatives -- you had three commercial TV networks plus PBS back then. (Which reminds me that Spider-Man also regularly appeared on The Electric Company, a show aimed at 8-10 year olds and which managed to present a more faithful wall-crawler than a primetime network series could, even allowing for the fact that on The Electric Company, Spider-Man never spoke a word.)
The 1980s and 1990s brought even more mediocre-to-terrible attempts to cash in on Marvel's characters. Dolph Lundgren as The Punisher. Reb Brown as Captain America. And a truly awful Fantastic Four movie made quickly and cheaply by cult film director Roger Corman in order to allow the rights holders to maintain their license. It resulted in a film so bad that it was never widely released and was only seen by most people through the wonders of bootleg VHS tapes sold at sketchy comicons. It should be noted that this Fantastic Four film is only marginally worse than the three later released by major studios, but with four films to their names, The Fantastic Four at this moment has more movies to its name than even The Avengers franchise, even if not a single one of them is worth watching.
Speaking of The Avengers, I went to see Avengers: Infinity War yesterday in the company of my wife Lora. I think we have seen most of the Marvel Studios films at the theater, although I have my doubts about the second Thor film. It's hard to keep track now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (as it's called) is closing in on two-dozen full-length feature films, almost all of which are at least entertaining, and some of which have proven magical in both their mass appeal and their ability to generate revenue. Narratively, financially, and especially from the perspective of pre-2008, the continuing success of the Marvel movies is a dream that millions have been living within. It has changed the lives of many, from turning around the literal and metaphorical fortunes of actors like Downey, who no one thought would even live to see 2018 never mind be one of the most popular movie stars on the planet, and Chris Evans, whose depiction of Steve Rogers/Captain America has left far behind any memories of his participation in two of those lousy Fantastic Four movies. More interestingly this dream movie franchise has inspired and brought happiness to untold numbers of people, like that time Downey gave an Iron Man-like bionic arm to a seven-year-old boy. Or the millions of African-Americans and others who found in the recent Black Panther film an inspirational culture in which they could see themselves and their own history. These films haven't solved all the world's problems, but it's undeniable that they have brought joy and comfort and more in far greater proportion than one might have thought possible before this all began.
Which isn't to say they are perfect. I am not writing a love letter to Marvel Comics, Marvel Studios, or anyone else, really. Maybe Jack Kirby, because without him there would be none of this, but also Stan Lee, who wrote the words of so many of the comics these movies are based on. And Steve Ditko, whose imagination spawned the characters and worlds of Spider-Man and Dr. Strange. And so many other comics creators I never thought would get their due, and yet who are credited in the long crawls at the end of these films and who, I hope, are being fairly compensated for the translation of their work into motion picture form.
Like Jim Starlin, a writer/artist whose work blew me away in 1977. That summer I was 11 years old, and Starlin wrote and illustrated a two-part crossover featuring The Avengers, Spider-Man and The Thing (from the Fantastic Four) in a galaxy-spanning battle royale against Starlin's most noted creation, the supervillain Thanos. The sprawling epic was made possible by the earlier work of Lee, Kirby, Ditko and others, but it felt like something entirely new. Recently going back and reading that story, I realized how direct an adaptation of that story Avengers: Infinity War is, and that realization made me even more eager to see how the film would play out.
It turns out that Infinity War is every bit as mind-blowing as those 1977 funnybooks that inspired it were to my 11-year-old self, and for much the same reason. It's not just the epic scale of the story, or the stunning visuals, or the huge cast of very different characters being remixed in new and interesting ways. Both the comics and the movie share all those elements. No, it's the combination of all those things, plus the charm, skill, talent and determination of the actors, writers and directors, the grand vision for these films from the producers, and other factors too numerous and mysterious to be easily tallied.
So yes, I loved it. My wife loved it. It wasn't perfect in the way Citizen Kane or Synecdoche, New York are perfect, timeless films, but that's not what the MCU movies are for. They are a commercially-produced dream, made for profit inside an increasingly dysfunctional capitalist system, and perhaps another essay could be written on the dangers of allowing such dreams to make one forget the injustices and dangers of the real world, but that's not the essay I am writing today. Today I want to just reflect on the wonder of seeing this film finally come to fruition, the bringing together of franchises-within-the-franchise, and I want to state with wonder and delight that it works.
Not just for me, lover of Spider-Man and the others since 1972. It works for my wife, who didn't know who most of these characters were before she met me, and who now loves Groot unconditionally and with profound delight. It works for millions of other people, some of whom have only the faintest idea who Jack Kirby is, although almost everyone knows who Stan Lee is. Not to diminish Lee's contribution to this mythology -- without him it almost certainly would not have existed nor endured this long -- but it cannot be said enough that Kirby gets the majority of the credit. Others took the baton and ran with it once Kirby left Marvel, but Captain America, Black Panther, Thor and many other of the most endearing and exciting characters in these movies are as popular and effective as they are precisely because of the elements Kirby baked into them: Black Panther's dignity, Thor's arrogance and innate decency, and perhaps most importantly, Captain America's dedication to people over politics, to good over greed. Let there be no doubt, these are exactly the heroes we need at this moment in history, and it is perhaps not a coincidence that many of the actors who inhabit these characters have used their popularity to give voice to those less fortunate than themselves, and to use their voices to critique the current wave of fascism and authoritarianism that threaten to destroy our culture. These movies are entertainment, yes, and they have made fortunes for many of the people involved, but some of those people see the responsibility their new prominence and success has given them, and they seem to take it seriously. I'm grateful for that.
And I'm grateful for the joy in so many of these films, which reaches an almost unreal level at various moments in Infinity War. Not just seeing Tony Stark bicker with Stephen Strange, or Groot heroically assist Thor in a way only he could at exactly the right moment. Not just seeing Mark Ruffalo's sublime Bruce Banner argue with The Hulk, and therefore himself, to hilarious effect at exactly the wrong moment, only to later see him delight in having all of the power but none of the horror such power usually brings him. It's all of these things and at least a thousand more.
Like I said, it's not perfect. How could it be? In a story this wide-ranging, I was never going to get enough of Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow to make me happy. But there'll be a movie for that soon enough. I was never going to get everything I came to this for, but then no one is, when you get really granular and start picking it apart. But that's missing the big picture, and in the larger sense, it's important to note I wasn't bored or unhappy for one nanosecond of this film, as I was for every never-ending moment of the grotesque, doomed-to-fail Justice League movie. I was uneasy and scared at the beginning of Infinity War, as intended. I was amused and laughing when Peter Parker asked for a distraction on a schoolbus to hilarious effect. I was chilled when Banner announced "Thanos is coming." As I said on Facebook, "So many moments."
I have seen some concern about plot holes, but I see none. The most specific concern centers on why Dr. Strange makes the choice he does near the end, with seemingly catastrophic results for the entire universe. Did the people voicing these criticisms forget that there's another movie coming? Did they not hear Strange tell his fellow heroes that he had seen millions of possible outcomes in which they all lose, but one, and one alone, in which they succeed in defeating Thanos? To be fair, that moment is couched in dread, no doubt to conceal the fact that it is foreshadowing the ultimate outcome of the as-yet unnamed sequel, said to be the end of the book all the MCU movies to date represent in the minds of those overseeing the franchise, before the start of the next book. But I have no doubt that Dr. Strange's decision, as agonizing as it was to see the consequences of, was the one that will somehow allow all those we lost to be returned to us in some form. Well, maybe not all.
I doubt it's a coincidence that Tony Stark was the one to see the ultimate defeat of their efforts to stop Thanos, and to watch in helpless horror as Peter Parker and others died before his eyes. Since the first Avengers movie, Tony Stark's bravado has masked his increasing trauma as one cosmic threat after another homicidal robot of his own design has taken chunks out of his soul. My guess is that by the end of 2019's Avengers movie, we'll have many if not most of the toys back in the toybox and ready to be played with another day. I watched the Falcon die, but I'm sure he'll be back. And Spider-Man, and The Vision, and Nick Fury, and everyone we watch blow away in the breeze, to our horror and despair. I'm guessing the price of their return will be Tony Stark's sacrifice in the next film, likely Downey's exit from the franchise. And that would be suitable. Downey was perfect for the role of Tony Stark because in so many ways he really already was Tony Stark. Arrogant, talented, addicted. He was, and is, our gateway into this world, the reason we have been able to feel the emotions these films create in us so viscerally and so immediately. Reversing the damage Thanos does at the end of Infinity War will require a huge payment to balance the books. I will be surprised if that isn't represented by the final end of Tony Stark's journey in these movies.
After all, the great throughline of these movies has been revelation and change, as the universe these characters live in has, in a decade, come to be as expansive and intriguing as it was after many decades of hard work and imagination from Stan and Jack and all the other writers and artists who are responsible for the comic books that launched this dream we are all now living inside. Who has had more revealed to him, and who has changed more than Tony Stark? How fitting would it be for the next film to end with him making the sacrifice, finally, that he narrowly escaped making at the end of the first Avengers film?
I could be wrong, though. And I don't care if I am. I’m just theorizing. How can you not? It's fun to speculate where this gigantic story will go next. And who could have guessed, before this all began in 2008, that so many millions of filmgoers would be so thrilled by one movie after another, a series of increasingly entertaining and even diverse films that give us worlds of wonder and delight, with shocks, horrors, laughs and even love?
No, no one could have seen this coming in 2008. No one except Jack Kirby, who, if he were still with us today, might be heard to say, "I knew it all along." -- Alan David Doane

9 MARVEL CHARACTERS I WANT TO SEE IN THE CINEMATIC UNIVERSE
Just spitballing for fun here!
To celebrate September 9th, here are 9 Marvel Heroes I would like to see making their debut in the next phase of Marvel Cinematic Universe. By MCU, that means for the movies... NOT for TV. I'm not saying because the TV side is... bad (even if I do lean towards that conclusion, it would be a subjective opinion), but I just don't think TV would be able to do justice with these characters due to various constraints (budget, VFX quality, etc).
It's already widely reported that the 2019 "UNTITLED Avengers" will serve as the culmination of MCU since 2008. That means, the door to welcome new characters and IPs would be wide open. So these are the names I would like to see getting the spotlight, and perhaps, assemble into a new set of Avengers. One might easily notice that the names I'm including here are characters from the animated "Avengers Assemble" series. That's actually... INTENTIONAL. One, because that means Marvel Studios obviously has the rights to use them (or at least partially, like the Spider-Man characters). And two, because I want this post to have a similar look and feel. But I'm NOT leaving behind other characters who have yet to show up in that series. That's why there's a special 'Bonus' section afterwards... (^^)v
Now that the explanation is out of the way, let's start right away! Here they are, in alphabetical order:
Agent Venom
Coincidentally, the first one is already a tricky situation. Eugene "Flash" Thompson is a Spider-Man character, so the rights to him is owned by SONY. That company is already working on a "Venom" movie that might not (or might?) be part of the MCU, with Tom Hardy as the lead. On the other hand, a modern-bully version of Flash has already debuted in the MCU via this year's "Spider-Man: Homecoming", as brought to life by Tony Revolori. Of course, the prospect of seeing a talented actor like Revolori becoming a headlining hero, is just too good to ignore. Mind you, it might take him a very long time (until after the high school characters graduate?) before arriving in a possible bittersweet situation (in the comics, Flash had to lose his legs first). But overall, Marvel Studios has already sown the seed for Agent Venom's debut. I can only hope this idea will be realized somewhere in the future...
Hercules
Odd choice, huh? But hear me out. We haven't had a great Hercules movie for a long time (my favorite was still Disney's animated-musical version, and it differed massively from the mythology). So why not leave it to Marvel Studios to do justice for the figure, and make a HUGE name out of him? The comic version of Hercules Panhellenios is a struggling, washed-out, unemployed hero, who spends his time slacking around and being a disappointment to others. True to his metaphorical title as a fierce male lion, huh? This situation and condition would carry massive potentials to explore in the movies. He can also take over Thor Odinson's position to expand the MCU towards more Greek-based mythological stories. Would you like to see Herc fighting Cerberus or Hydra (the monster, not the NAZI organization) in live action? I sure do. Good ol' Herc has seen a return to spotlight recently, with his own solo comic series. So what an excellent time to promote him for his own movie too! Since Chris Hemsworth and Pratt are already in the MCU (IMO, both are giving off a strong Hercules vibe!), perhaps Marvel Studios can hire... I don't know, Joe Manganiello as the lead actor?
Hyperion
Another mythological-esque hero! Unlike Hercules though, Marcus Milton has a completely different origin, being descendant of... the Eternals. Yes, the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie series have already introduced this powerful race, which means, the route to Hyperion's debut is more or less smooth sailing. Interestingly, Hyperion is well known as part of the superhero team "Squadron Supreme". That means, if ever Marvel Studios needs a 'replacement' for the Avengers, this group is a good candidate. Just like Herc, Hyperion has returned to the limelight with a new comic series lately, eventhough it was cancelled after a few volumes. I admit, being a copy/parody of a certain DC hero, the character doesn't really have deep potentials. But that's why I trust Marvel Studios to give him the push he needed! As for the actor, for some reason, I would love to see John Krasinski in the role. Dude was considered to be Captain America before, right? And he's not another Chris. LOL.
Inferno
We're back to another tricky business. Dante Pertuz is a relatively new character, a modern version of Human Torch that FOX doesn't own. LOL. He's introduced in the recent years with the NuHumans storyline, which exactly leads to THE tricky situation. Yes, he's an Inhuman, and his origin story is deeply connected to the Inhumans Royal Family (specifically Gorgon). We all know that Marvel TV had taken over the Inhumans IP and turn it into a TV series (complete with bad writing, bad design, bad reviews *smh*). I'm VERY concerned the division would also want to capitalize on Inferno to boost the show's appeal, and I personally don't think that's a wise decision. Visual-effect wise, Mark Kolpack has admitted that creating Robbie Reyes' Ghost Rider's flaming head and chains for the 4th season of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." was taxing and demanding. It's basically a movie-level VFX that required extra hours and patience, not something that can usually be rushed in a TV deadline. Now imagine doing that with Inferno, who emits flame from all over his body! But there's a bigger stake, here. You see, Dante's clearly a latino hero, and we haven't had one headlining an MCU movie until now. With his visual powers and relatable storyline (struggling with being Inhumans, a minority, rock star, and all), a movie would privilege Dante with the justice he deserve. I'm aware that highly likely Marvel Studios will be going with a cosmic Sam Alexander's Nova instead, and that's okay. But Inferno would be more current, if not more likeable choice.
Ka-Zar
Kevin Plunder came in to this list, with the same reason to Hercules. Because he's Marvel version of Tarzan! Hollywood has been trying to create a good Tarzan movie over and over again, and they're either an okay hit or a sad miss. As far as I know, none of them were ever able to please every audience, not even Disney's animated version. But Ka-Zar is different, because he carries more 'fantasy' than just trying to ape the King of the Jungle. The setting of his adventures, the "Savage Land" that's hidden deep in Antarctica, would be something magnificent to feature in the big screen. We've got Asgard, Kamar-Taj, Wakanda, why not add Savage Land too! Don't forget Zabu, his saber-toothed best friend, which would require massive CGI work. Suffice to say, the things I'm reading and hearing about Ka-Zar only leads to one conclusion: I want to see him in a live action movie! Now, who can portray him? Hmmm... a natural blond Brit like Charlie Hunnam, perhaps?
Ms. Marvel
All concerns I had for Dante, goes for Kamala Khan as well. Being a fellow Inhumans, there's been a rampant rumor recently that she'll be getting a TV series (supposedly the one John Ridley is working on). For me, that's a HUUUGE NOOOO. And due to THREE major reasons. ONE, similar to Inferno, TV budget won't be able to handle the VFX required to showcase her Inhuman ability with the right look and feel. Look no further than that underwhelming looking "Inhumans" series as example! Would you like to see an iconic figure like Kamala being reduced to a 'disaster' with the excuse of making her 'grounded'? You know, like what Marvel TV have already done to Medusa? I certainly DON'T. Kamala is basically the modern version of Mr. Fantastic, and we all know that even FOX have tried to do Reed Richards right in the movies several times, but still couldn't perfectly nail it. Downgrading this situation to a TV level would only make it worse. TWO, Kamala is a genuinely likeable and well-beloved character that easily captures the heart and attention of many readers throughout the world. If the 60s-90s had Peter Parker, Kamala's the youth representative for the modern world. Hip, cool, and current (being a social media freak and all), but also kind and caring... eventhough she's a triple-decker minority (Female, South Asian heritage, and Moslem) living in a racist country. Which leads me to the final reason. THREE, her story will have a MUCH BIGGER impact to the world as a movie. Releasing a Marvel Studios movie with her as the lead in an international market (including countries with Moslem as majority), would not only bank a great amount of money, but also sends the right messages: one, unlike its current government, Hollywood is NOT racist; two, that everyone can be a hero, regardless of their gender, race, and religion! Relegating a character this HUGE to a small-scoped TV series that not everyone can gain access to, would be a massive disservice. Kamala is the hero the world currently needs, so please don't undermine her into disappointments.
She-Hulk
Another tricky situation, though in this case, due to the confusing copyrights. Actor Mark Ruffalo has repeatedly said, that a Hulk solo movie won't be coming along the road because Universal has the distribution rights. What about his super-powered cousin, Jennifer Walters? It's unclear, but I can only assume that she has the same legal limitation. Thankfully, it also doesn't mean that she can't be used in a Marvel Studios movies. She just need to be included as part of an ensemble, that's all. The great thing about Jen, is that she's a lawyer and later a judge. Not only she's strong physically, but also academically. Won't that be a strong role model for young women and girls all around the world? We haven't really had a law angle in the superhero movies until now, with Daredevil occupying the Netflix universe. So bringing Jen into the light would be fresh and promising. As for who should play him, I don't have a particular choice, but someone with Award prestige like Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron, and/or Jennifer Lawrence would be a great get...
Songbird
Former villain turned Avengers? Yep, that premise alone would make a great story. Melissa Gold started off as a troubled woman, with broken family and harsh situation. Giving in to the world of crime (known as Screaming Mimi) was clearly her way to stay alive. Eventually she stumbled into the road of heroism with the Songbird moniker, and ended up becoming a full-time member of the Avengers. Just like the other characters I've included here, Melissa would be a great role model, especially for troubled teenagers. Her path of redemption proves that anyone, regardless of their past and issues, can be a hero too. An inspiring message that Marvel Studios need to share to the world. She doesn't sell enough as a solo movie? Well, then debuting her as part of the "Thunderbolts" would be equally okay for me. All the ingredients are already in the MCU anyway (Thunderbolt Ross, Helmut Zemo?). As for the actress, for some reason, I want to see Anna Kendrick in this role. Yeah, basically I just want to see her in a Marvel Studios movie, but I believe she would really bring justice to the gorgeous-designed Songbird.
White Tiger
We've already gotten an African "Black Panther", now it's time for a hispanic White Tiger! Her powers come from the mystical side, and since "Doctor Strange" has opened up the gateway to supernatural, we can have more heroes with this kind of origin story! I'm personally going with Ava Ayala, and not Angela del Toro, eventhough either of them would be wonderful. Why White Tiger? Same reason to Dante, and in a way, Kamala. Sure, the MCU have included numerous Latino actors who either got lost in the background (Jonathan Pangborn?), or turned out to be a scene stealer (looking at you Luis!!!), but we haven't really had a major hispanic hero in the MCU until now. More importantly, a female one! Debuting Ava in the MCU would also, once again, sends off a great message. The US government have been really discriminative about immigrants lately, including the hispanics. Putting Ava in the spotlight would remind everyone that South Americans CAN be heroes, and not criminals like what they're being wrongfully accused for. We truly need characters like this right away! As for who should play her, I'm currently setting my eyes on Gina Rodriquez of the hit series "Jane the Virgin".
Honorable Ment... SPECIAL ADDITIONS
The next characters are those who (as far as my memory serves) haven't made their debut in the "Avengers Assemble" series. So they sort of... didn't fulfill the basic requirement for my initial list. But it'd be unfair leaving them behind like that, right? That's why they are special 'Bonus' additions. Without further ado, in alphabetical order:
Brother Voodoo
For the record, I'm not being racist by sidelining the only black character to this section. The reason I put him here, is because his debut in the MCU movies is pretty much confirmed. Daniel Drumm, big brother to Jericho Drumm, has already made his appearance in "Doctor Strange" as the original protector of New York Sanctum Santorum. And director Scott Derrickson has already hinted that his death would lead to consequences, including the arrival of Jericho. Debuting Jericho as a sort of sidekick to Stephen Strange would be nice, but it would be much better if he gets his own movie too. Yes, there's an issue regarding his name, because using Voodoo might... well, attract criticsm. But titles can be tweaked, right? Considering Jericho ends up becoming a Sorcerer Supreme too, I believe he'll be perfect as the next black hero to headline his own movie.
Shang-Chi
I've already repeatedly mentioned that Marvel Studios NEED a major hero representing minorities, and this is another great candidate. Marvel Studios have brought several prominent Asian characters into the MCU, like Wong, Mantis (eventhough she's an alien), and Helen Cho. Yet they all share similar characteristic: they are all supporting cast. If Marvel Studios want to play it 'safe' and headline an East Asian lead character, then Shang-Chi is the go-to-guy. Nope, I'm not undermining him, but just pointing out how easy he would appeal to the audience. Shang-Chi is in a way, Marvel Comics' response to Bruce Lee. We all know that the world LOVES some Bruce Lee. And Shang is more than just a Bruce Lee copy, he's also a master of espionage who's determined to take down his own father's criminal empire. Pretty much a solid recipe for a James Bond-styled wuxia blockbuster hit, am I right! "Doctor Strange" has teased the use of martial arts to support magic, a hero like Shang would put it upfront as the star of the party. Marvel TV might have taken the stamp on Iron Fist (with mixed response), so Shang is the opportunity for Marvel Studios to do it RIGHT! Jon Woo, Ang Lee, or Jacky Chan can direct this, and as for the actor, Godfrey Gao is my top pick. But Ludi Lin, Philip Ng (star of the fictional Bruce Lee biopic "Birth of the Dragon"), or even Yoshi Sudarso (who is Chinese-Indonesian) would be fantastic nonetheless.
Spider-Woman
The last tricky affair of the day! Jessica Drew is called Spider-Woman, but she uses the 'Spider' moniker by name only, and unrelated to Spider-Man. That's why until now, it's currently unclear whether her movie rights is owned by SONY or not. She's actually one of the superheroine I've been itching to see in the MCU, but admittedly, these questions surrounding her place always put me on a weird crossroad. Drew is connected to Hydra, the High Evolutionary, and has always been a full-blown Avengers. And all of those screams MCU. She's also the best friend of Carol Danvers, so I honestly want to see her show up in "Captain Marvel". Her comic origin story sort of fits with "Captain Marvel" 90s setting too. Have Jessica encounter Carol when she was a child, then Jessica was put into stasis for years, only to wake up as a superpowered woman in the present day. And then she meets Carol again, and team up as the new Avengers. All's well ends well! I personally want to see Tatiana Maslany of the famous "Orphan Black" for this character, but Marvel Studios can always cast an Asian actress (like Constance Wu or Celina Jade) due to Drew's ambiguous background.
Young Avengers
This one initially started off with just William "Billy" Kaplan and partner Theodore "Teddy" Altman. A sweet pairing more famously known as Wiccan and Hulkling. My way of thinking was, it'd be rude and unfair to name just one of them, right? If Marvel Studios wants to go ahead and feature an LGBT representation, these guys are the one they should use. Is it possible? There's a hint that we'll be seeing Vision and Wanda Maximoff's relationship evolve in "Avengers: Infinity War". Perhaps somehow they end up bending reality, and Billy is magically conceived? Meanwhile, "Captain Marvel" confirmed that the alien race Skrull CAN be used in the MCU, so a half Kree-Skrull (his biological father is the original/male Captain Marvel) like Teddy is more than just possible. Basically, that movie is the only gateway needed for his debut in the MCU.
But then I began thinking. Why am I leaving behind Billy's twin brother Thomas "Tommy" Shepherd? Poor Pietro Maximoff was killed off in just one movie, why am I sidelining another Speed-ster? That's NOT right. Then the more I think of it, the bigger the scope gets. We have a Hawkeye and Ant-Man who are both fathers in the MCU. Why not include their protege/child? Katherine "Kate" Bishop might not be Clint Barton's daughter, but the two shared a special connection that would be great to depict on the big screen. And then there's Cassandra "Cassie" Lang who looks up to her father Scott, and aspires to be a size-shifting heroine of her own. Cassie has already debuted in the MCU as played by Abby Ryder Fortson, why not promote her into a hero too? And how could I miss out the lesbian latina America Chavez? Fitting in comfortably to all the diversity talk I've stated above, America is not only female, latina, she's also an LGBT representative. Another triple-decker like Kamala. JACKPOT!
So yeah, that's how I ended up with Young Avengers instead. If Marvel TV has "The Runaways", then Marvel Studios can have these equally (if not more prospective) young heroes! If we assume that we will no longer see the Avengers following the 2019 movie, then introducing the Young Avengers would be the most logical continuation. This movie doesn't even to take place in the present time, but a bit further in the future, or even in an alternate reality. That's the function of Reality Stone and Multi-verse, right? This team represents youth, fun, and diversity, sending all the right messages to the world. And at the same, enabling older actors like Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Benedict Cumberbatch and others to serve briefly as mentor figures. There's also one other reason why this special team ends up being the last entry on this post (which is unintentional, to be honest): because I REALLY want them to show up in the MCU! \(*v*)/
So there you have it, the 9 (plus 4+) Marvel Heroes I want to see coming to the big screen. In the end though, this is nothing more than a personal opinion. It's obviously a very subjective thinkpiece, so anyone else might not have the same idea (if you do have your take, then do post them, I'd gladly read it!). I do however, hope that someone, anyone from Marvel Studios would somehow stumble upon this, read it, and put these names into considerations. I sincerely feel they will bring something NEW to the MCU, while continue conveying message of hope, inspiration, kindness, and good. After all, that's what Marvel Studios movies are for, right? Thanks for reading... enjoy your September 9th! Even if it might be just a regular day for most of us... XD

So I finally watched all of Good Omens
Did I like it?
Of course I did! It was enjoyable and funny. Taking a spin on the end of the world is great and even having at some points that dry Monty Python humor (which I really don’t much care for) mixed in with funny humor made me laugh. The cast was amazing from David Tennant all the way to Benedict Cumberbatch.
Yes, he was in the show. He was Satan if you didn’t know. And yes, even Satan was on screen for 2 minutes max I still want to fuck Satan. I seem to have this interesting dynamic with Ben and his acting, if his face is on screen, I respect the man to bits
Tumblr media
But usually when Ben does CGI, which BTW IF YOU DIDN’T KNOW FROM WHAT I KNOW THE MAN HAS DONE ALL HIS OWN CGI MOTION CAPTURE FOR EVERY NON-HUMAN ROLE HE HAS PLAYED (it’s not a big roster, I can name them all on my own hand. Unlike say Vin Diesel playing Groot or Mark Ruffalo playing the Hulk. They’re not doing the FULL motion capture, probably just their characters face, but Ben. He goes all out.). I am just....sexually attracted to his CGI roles because of his voice?
So far I know he’s played Smaug (which yeah the CGI frames are Ben just crawling around)
youtube
Recently, he was Shere Khan in that very okay Netflix Jungle Book movie ‘Mowgli’.
youtube
And now he’s in the books as embodying Satan himself which BTW damn he said like 5 lines of dialogue but FUCK he just....does so well.
Tumblr media
Just the way Satan moves I know Ben did the motion capture.
BUT I DIGRESS in praising my favorite actor.
I did find one nitpick and it was the very fast romance between Pulsifier and Nunn’s descendant. It seemed wedged in unlike the other two I’m going to discuss.
Real talk though: I cried when the Bentley blew up.
And my favorite character is Crowley, hands down. The demon drives fast and blares Queen. He is the side of me you don’t get to see until I’ve gained complete trust in you.
Tumblr media
I’m actually Azi when I’m not around my coworkers. Silent, drowning in books, and a little shit. Not much anxiety because I stopped giving a damn about everything because I have no soul, like Crowley.
Tumblr media
I just tend to relate to them both. So inconclusion Azi is my irl voice and Crowley is my internet voice.
Aziraphale and Crowley, do I ship it?
Now, when you ask ‘ship’, the answer is yes, I do. But not in the conventional shipping way. It’s a way I should honestly push myself to look at when it comes to relationships in general because I was raised as ‘YOU MUST FALL IN LOVE, GET MARRIED, AND BE STRAIGHT TO MEET THESE WORLD’S STANDARDS!’
So whoever I have upset in the last 6 years that I have met and because I felt like I was pushing you out of your zone to like me, if I made you uncomfortable in any way, please tell me. I respect the lives you are currently living so as long you are not damaging yourself and others around you in an immoral way. Over the years I have been desperately trying to better myself. Another time, another long-winded post.
I look at A/C and I see a very deep bond of friendship, but I could also see them being a married couple, as to the joke poked at in Episode 5 when Crowley leaves Azi. There’s nothing sexual at all. And I enjoy that? Insert another long-winded post here about how I relate and hate my entire being here. It feels fulfilling to have that opposite tension, yet be able to work together as well as sit down to eat at the Ritz.
In conclusion: I liked it and I want to read the book.
Long live the OG Bentley.

I Asked People Who Don't Watch Marvel Movies To Explain Them And Here's What Happened
https://styleveryday.com/2018/04/21/i-asked-people-who-dont-watch-marvel-movies-to-explain-them-and-heres-what-happened/
I Asked People Who Don't Watch Marvel Movies To Explain Them And Here's What Happened
“Who are the Avengers?” “Scarlett Johansson, The Second Best Chris, The Best Chris, Guy I Don’t Know, Iron Man, and The Hulk.”
It’s hard to avoid Marvel movies these days (I, for one, welcome our comic book overlords). Even if you haven’t watched any, they’ve permeated our culture so much it’s impossible not to know SOMETHING about them, right? I put this theory to the test by asking a bunch of my colleagues who aren’t into the Marvel Cinematic Universe just how much they knew about it. Here’s what happened…
What is the Marvel Cinematic Universe about?
Nicki: Guys in spandex saving the world, mostly.
Adam: Constant war and destruction.
Sarah: Just a bunch of superheroes, fighting crime alone and together, depending on how much they want to get paid.
Angela: People with superpowers come together to destroy evil monsters and save the world. Sometimes they turn against each other and crack cheesy jokes.
Jules: I know that Spider-Man is Marvel, Batman is DC. So, I guess there’s no Batman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It all seems like a way to make more money out of comic books.
Marvel
Who is in this photo? What are their current fates?
Jamé: I know Thor, Captain America (I hope), Iron Man, and The Hulk. Current fates? Don’t they all live, all the time?
Adam: These are the Avengers. They are…half dead? Yeah let’s say half of them are dead.
Sarah: Scarlett Johansson, The Second Best Chris, The Best Chris, Guy I don’t know, Iron Man, and the Hulk. I’m sure they’re not about to die because you can’t kill off this many A-Listers in one movie — you need that sequel $$$.
Jules: So this is Captain America, the Hulk, the slow version of the Flash, and three other persons. The world is probably going to end and they want it to not end.
Nikki: Okay I watched this one and I honestly forget what happens?????? Captain American throws his shield or something. I know we got Scar Jo as Black Widow, big ass Thor over there, Captain America, idk who the small guy is, is that Tony Stark??? And Mark Ruffalo disguised as a giant green man.
Marvel
What do you know about these guys?
Nicki: Nothing, absolutely nothing.
Adam: Those are the people from Guardians of the Galaxy. I have to assume that their job is to guard the galaxy.
Sarah: Fourth Best Chris guards the galaxy with a talking racoon, a tree branch, and Zoe Saldana. Groot is dead and Baby Groot is his son. I’m guessing they save the galaxy?? That would be super shitty if they didn’t save it, lol.
Jules: So this is the guy from Parks and Rec, Groot, two aliens, and a furry.
Nikki: The raccoon is really cute and what is Andy Dwyer doing with that hideous moustache. Also I know that tree man thing is named Groot and he may be dead?!?!
Marvel
What do you know about Wakanda and its people?
Nicki: OMG everything. DOWN WITH THE VIOLENT COLONIAL PROJECT!
Jamé: Beautiful. Black. Led by Black Panther. Powerful. Magnificent.
Sarah: Okay, this movie I DID see. The people of Wakanda are badass. Wakanda forever.
Jules: So I’ve seen this movie, although I didn’t know it was part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Wakanda is a badass African secretive nation which got prosperous by mining its very precious and powerful metal, and I guess they’re going to save everyone? Also, what is it with superheroes and weird metal? It’s always that or a bug bite.
Nikki: OKAY I LOVE THIS ONE!!!! Wakanda forever!!!! Basically, they’re a hidden country protected from the outside world and daddy Killmonger wants to take over the country from T’Challa and use vibranium for bad. Also, please make Princess Shuri an OFFICIAL DISNEY PRINCESS THANKS!
Marvel
What’s this guy’s journey been?
Nicki: A wardrobe mistake from start to finish.
Sarah: After meeting a young pop singer at a Met Gala party, he enters into a whirlwind romance that starts on the shores of Rhode Island and ends on the streets of Rome.
Angela: My guess is he was bullied as a kid, grew up seeking revenge from the people who bullied him (or the entire planet), and has come back to destroy the Avengers. Maybe he was convinced to join the good side?
Jules: Is he Thor? He looks like a viking. He also looks like a mix of the three men from Friends somehow. He’s probably trying to build an action movie career after having started in comedy.
Nikki: Is he the leader of goats or something??? Idk.
Marvel
What about this guy?
Jamé: Who the heck is this?!
Adam: Honestly idk but he looks like he needs a haircut.
Sarah: Is this not Jon Snow?????
Angela: He either sacrificed himself to save one of the Avengers or was killed trying to fight one of the Avengers.
Nikki: I feel like a gorilla is about to attack him.
Marvel
How many movies have there been so far?
Jamé: …a lot.
Adam: Like…25?
Sarah: Like, 50 probably?? Idk.
Adrian: 7?
Nikki: I think like 18.
Twitter: @toysldrs
Who will be at war in Infinity War?
Adam: Based on the name “infinity” I have to assume…everyone? All the people ever in existence?
Sarah: Everyone. Even third best Chris, Chris Pine. Sounds like a big deal.
Angela: Iron Man and Captain America? Did that happen already?
Adrian: A guy called Thanos.
Nikki: Literally everyone and their moms (T’challa’s mom).
Marvel
What do you know about this guy?
Jamé: He has a weird chin.
Jules: Ah, yes, brown Hulk.
Adam: Is this the guy from Fantastic Four who turns into rocks?
Adrian: That he’s a badass.
Nikki: Is that Zeus?
Marvel
What are the infinity stones?
Nicki: Things you pass, painfully?
Adam: Lmao you’re making this one up.
Sarah: Some kind of crystal that makes you live forever. I’m sure Spencer Pratt’s trying to get one for himself.
Angela: I think I saw one in Black Panther?????
Nikki: ???? Is it like the Sorcerer’s stone?
Marvel
Who do you think will die in Infinity War?
Nicki: Everyone bar Shuri.
Adam: Everyone who isn’t already dead.
Sarah: Probably the villain. (Who is the villain? Bald dude?) They’d never kill off Chris 1, 2, or 3. Heroes probably aren’t allowed to die.
Angela: A bunch of evil people and one good person.
Adrian: Iron Man.
Marvel
What comes after Infinity War?
Jamé: Uh…another Infinity War?
Sarah: Eternity War.
Jules: If it’s a real Infinity War, it should be going on for ever, which seems to be the case.
Angela: Black Panther 2, I hope?
Adrian: World peace?
Marvel
Any final thoughts?
Jamé: This was really hard. But I’m still going to watch it!
Adam: I’m stressed out just trying to think about how all those Marvel TV shows fit into this as well.
Angela: I know nothing, but pretttyyy tempted to watch now.
Adrian: I think I need to watch more Marvel movies.
Nikki: WAKANDA FOREVER.

Things to consider for Spider-Man: Homecoming 2
SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING is out there in the cinemas, and it's getting rave reviews.
I've seen it, and I enjoyed it - although I will say (sorry!) I do think it's a little over hyped.  For me, personally, I have to disagree that it's one of the best MCU films - I'd place it in the middle ground.  But each to their own - it's easily the funniest SPIDER-MAN film so far, there are some great character moments, Tom Holland is now my favourite Peter Parker, the connection to the MCU works well, and sets the film apart from the Raimi and Webb films, and it's same to say we're looking at the most comic-accurate Spider-flick to date.
Next year we'll see Holland don the red and blue in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, but in 2019 we'll get a double dose of the webslinger in the untitled AVENGERS 4, and (most importantly) in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING 2, which will allegedly start up moments over AVENGERS 4, and will also kick off the MCU's Phase 4.  That's some heavy duty there.
So, here are some thoughts on the already-highly-anticipated sequel.
THE TITLE
Tumblr media
Well, Holland's already told us it won't be SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING 2, which makes sense, but whilst the actor refers to it as SPIDER-MAN 2, there's already a film out there with that (a good one too), so I think we can expect a new subtitle.  I'm going to hazard a guess now - SPIDER-MAN: THE NEW AVENGER.  I'm probably way off, but we know that's where he's heading, so I think it's possible.
THE AVENGERS
Tumblr media
In HOMECOMING, we get Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, the guy that started it all.  We also get IRON MAN supporting characters, such as a cameo from Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts, and a larger role for Jon Favreau's Happy Hogan.  We've already been told that the sequel will feature a different Avenger.  It's part of the deal between Sony and Marvel, keeping it all connected.  Everyone's already got their theories on who it might be - and I've already stated mine - The Hulk.  To me, it makes perfect sense.  Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner is unlikely to receive a solo film (thanks to legalities with Universal) so is doing his rounds in the other heroes flicks.  He cameoed in IRON MAN 3, and is next set to appear in THOR: RAGNAROK.  Banner is a scientist, so already that's a way in to connect him to Parker, and just from a marketing point of view, having the Hulk and Spider-Man - the two most popular Marvel characters - together won't hurt.
THE DIRECTOR
Tumblr media
Okay, so might be a bit awkward... I'd like to see a change behind the camera.  HOMECOMING is making a load of money, and the positive reviews suggest that director Jon Watts will be back for the next adventure.  However - I'm going to say it - I thought the direction for the first film was one of the weakest in the MCU.  I thought some of the CG looked cartoonish and unrealistic (Spider-Man didn't seem to have the gravity in his swing that both Raimi and Webb perfected) and the night scenes were too dark to see all the action.  Some of it was just a bit messy tbh.    In an ideal world, I'd have Joss Whedon return to Marvel-land, but he's currently caught up over at "the opposition".  So, how about Matthew Vaughn?  I'd love him to get involved in Marvel.
As I say, Watts will probably return, hopefully he'll be warmed up for it.
THE KIDS
Tumblr media
Jacob Batalon's Ned was a scene stealer, and I think it'd be a no-brainer to have him back. Also, I think we can expect more from Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson, and the other kids such as Betty (Angourie Rice) and Cindy (Tiffany Espensen) as all of them have future stories from the comics.
THE SCHOOL
Tumblr media
Kevin Feige has made it quite clear that they cast the younger Holland to allow for more stories at school.  It's another way Marvel can separate their Spider-Man from previous movie efforts.  But how long can they keep that up for? Holland may be younger than either Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield were, but he's already in his twenties, and we're only one film down. Well my answer is thus - 3.   Marvel love their trilogies and I don't think Spider-Man will be any different... well, no, actually I do.  Let me explain...
Holland is signed for 6 films that we know of. That's three solo Spider-flicks (plus CIVIL WAR, INFINITY WAR and AVENGERS 4).  I'll bet my socks that those three solo films will all be School-bound.  I then believe both Sony and Marvel will renegotiate Holland's contract for another trilogy.  I believe those films will see Parker post-education.  He'll work for the Daily Bugle etc... It's a long time to wait for J Jonah Jameson, but it'll be worth the wait I'm sure.
THE OTHER SPIDER-MAN
Tumblr media
The first film included a role for Donald Glover,  appearing as Aaron Davis, and he specifically states he has a nephew.   We all know that nephew is future-Spider-Man Miles Morales.
There were a lot of campaigns to get Miles as the Spider-Man for the MCU, but - really - Marvel had to go with Parker.  The everyday movie goer know Parker and would be confused, if not disappointed, that it wasn't *their* Spider-Man.   Chronologically, you need to have Parker first - Morales comes later.   They've mentioned his existence, but he's a while off yet.  Should my predicted 'second trilogy' get greenlit, he may well get involved then, but he'll be their trump card for when it's time for Holland to go. Under his current contract, Holland will already be serving in more films as Parker than his predecessors, and a second trilogy (possibly with some more AVENGER films add in there for good measure) certainly take up Holland's 20s.  3 films at school.  3 films at the Daily Bugle.  Then hand over to the next Spider-Man.  That's what I'm predicting.
THE LOVE INTEREST
Tumblr media
Let's get this out of the way now - Zendaya does NOT play Mary-Jane Watson.  The 'MJ' comment at the end of the first film was more of a wink to the fans.
Peter's love interest in that film was Liz.  Laura Harrier made for a nice buffer, but she seems to be out of the way now, which means we're due another... and whilst a lot of fans expect MJ, if Marvel are going to do things properly, we need to go through the Gwen Stacy years... and death.   I reckon Gwen will come in with HOMECOMING 2, and die at the end of '3'. Finish the trilogy with the a big loss. Mary-Jane Watson may be introduced in '3' but I'll guess she'll wait for the second trilogy, ushering in the new era.
THE SUIT
Tumblr media
Tony Stark offered Peter a new suit - a take on the 'Iron Spider'.  Peter turned it down though, and Holland has already said for fans to expect the same suit in INFINITY WAR as what they've seen.  I think that suit will continue on in to the next film.   There may be some upgrades, but I doubt they're tamper with the look too much.  I think we can expect for 'suit lady' voiceovers by Jennifer Connolly as Karen too.
THE VULTURE
Tumblr media
There were some nice moments between Peter and Adrian Toomes, and I think some of what made it great was Michael Keaton's performance.  Is that him done now?  He's in prison, so that suggests it might be... for now.    Will Keaton appear again in HOMECOMING 2?  Yes and No.  I don't think he'll play an important part of the main story... but I think we might be treated a small post-credits cameo, along with Mac Gargan (Michael Mando)... hinting at things to come.
THE NEXT VILLAIN
Tumblr media
Who will Spidey have to face next?  Well, I very much doubt it'll be the Sinister Six... but I think that's where we're heading. I believe the Vulture and the Scorpion will be the first two members, and the next film will gives us a few more.   Marvel didn't want to re-tread what Raimi and Webb had given us... and by giving us the Vulture, the two Shockers, the Tinkerer and (sort of) The Scorpion, they certainly didn't.  But I think that will change with the sequel.  In fact I'm going to predict we'll get three new members of the Sinister Six... Doc Ock is due a return, having not been touched since SPIDER-MAN 2.  I also think we might get something a bit different... with Mysterio due a live action appearance.   I believe those two have strong chances of being the two main villains.   With a back ground hint at the third...
THE TOWER
Tumblr media
Throughout the first film, we see Happy Hogan prepping a move from Avengers tower to their new complex.  That tower now stands empty... but I'm sure we've all guessed who might be moving in, right?
Back in the 2012 THE AVENGERS, Marvel wanted permission to use Oscorp tower, but couldn't get it in time, and that's how come we ended up with an Avengers tower.
I believe the next Spider-Man adventure will see the Osborns move in.  I think we'll get Norman in the background.  Pulling some strings, connected somehow to Doctor Octavius, but I do think a bigger role in the film be Harry Osborn, joining Peter's school.   Will we see the Green Goblin?  I doubt it.  I reckon that will be held back for '3', where we'll meet the full Sinister Six.
I think that's enough thought on a film that's not due out for another two years, but it's fun to speculate.  I wonder how much I'm write on - or maybe I'm way off.  Time will tell!
What do you guys think?
