And soooo, here's the deep dive of Miss Saigon in Singapura. Eto naaaaa. Shemayyyy. One of the early journal entries I had when I was a teen was about Kim of Miss Saigon. Of course, it was full of immature thought farts and shits because I was but 13 years old then. Since I performed a crappy dance number in Nicanor Abelardo's stage in no less than CCP at 8 or 9 years old, anything CCP is up my alley. Why? I don't dance. I don't fucking have the coordination, but, I made it. BOBO pa rin syempre, pero, hahahaha, I did it anyway.

Looking back, I still don't know why mom allowed me to watch a play that is very provocative, considering she's super duper conservative. For sure, she knew the plot. For sure, she knew that there were too adult content for my age. Funny how she tried shielding me from these "mature content" since 1986, then poof. Ayan na. Must be because she knew that I'm officially a teenager, so, hala, sige, let the hormones cartwheel paganaps and pasavoguesssh ba nanay kong dragon? Or maybe, just maybe, it's another test from her. I remember her asking me what the play is all about. I can't remember what I shared, but, yah. Mas mahigpit talaga siya sa akin during my teen years like ugh. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Pero syempre, alam mo naman tayo, pasaway with a twist. LELS.

And sooooo, when I watched Miss Saigon in SG, I was down memory lane. I was comparing the scenes from '99 with 2024. JUSKO. Kalat ng utak ko e tapos puyat na puyat pa ako. LOL. And thennnn... eto naaaa... I've been putting this off kasi ang weird talaga ng mga thoughts ko about this, but sige, eto na.

I like non-Pinoy XY because of Chris. And na-realize ko talaga 'to while naglalandian sila ni Kim sa stage nung Sept. 21. HAHAHAHAHA. Kadire. It makes more sense now. Kasi naman, 'yung forced marriage local naman kasi e. Makapwersa rin naman. But... wait, there's more. I saw Thuy in a different light. Ginalingan naman ni kuya ang character arc development niya kahit naging communist officer siya. Kung baga, he leveled up naman. LELS. Still, I believe that blue eyes are emyyy. CHZZZ. Ganun talaga e.

While I'm over the sun and the moon with the movie in my mind, I also know so well even at 13 that Kim and Chris are not gonna give what it's supposed to give, after all. They're worse than star-crossed lovers. They're casualties of wars. They're victims who felt they could be heroes because of love. EMYYY. O 'di ba? May ganun agad. LUH.

Another thing that stood out for me from then until now is that women are super fucked in terms of their social stance, regardless of their background, their assets, and their liabilities. Ganun talaga e. SHET. Kim may be this white whore from Saigon, but she is relentless. She is a strong female lead in her own right, however, just because she is a woman of color and a paid lover, she's reduced to just being another statistic. Ellen, on the other hand, had to settle with the crumbles of war in the hopes of giving Chris a whole new world which is never gonna happen in their lifetime and their next, too. Just because of Chris. Just because of his shining blue eyes, ano po? Hahahaha. Siguro ginalingan niya talaga. LUL.

Body positivity is one of the highlights I love most in the SG run of Miss Saigon. Back in '99, fat-free ang lahat ng babae sa Dreamland. Hahahaha. I was like: Bakit wala silang bilbil or puson at all? Ganyan ba talaga ang mga legit na babae lalo mga babaeng bayaran? LOL. Ang bata ko pa neto pero ganun e.

But, now!!! Cellulites, back fat, bat wings, FUPA, thunder thighs, stretchmarks, atbp. nagbubunyi. TUGON: Aaaaameeennn.

This actually set the tone for the 2024 version since the grind of the girls in Dreamland is the unang pasavogue scene. LELS. I was wide-eyed because while Kim is still petite, iba na ngayon. Bahala na kayo world sa mga imperfections rocking and rolling sa worldwide stage. OPAQ-OLYE-F8FOOL.

Queerness Levels 10000. Jon Jon Briones made an IG story telling the world that he had to mellow down his queer vibe on stage because SG is anti-gay. Napansin ko talaga 'to kasi akala ko pagod na siya pero not in a bad way. He's like an Adam Lambert nung 2009 in my eye outside this show. Being queer since 1986, seeing a stage brandish postmodernism is really a treat and it gives me an ounce of faith restored in the name of real humanity. Seeing the Engineer in his blinding corset that cinched his thicc and tanned body strutting and dryhumping the vintage car on the road to his version of his American Dream is more than liquid gold and titanium combined. I was expecting to be blown away sa Sands Theatre dahil blue 'yung seats but it's giving Katips Theatre vibes na basic. Sorry, not sorry.

This epic show is sooooooooo otherworldly for me because I was originally planning to watch Miss Saigon during mom's birthday last May 11 in Manila. Sabi ko pa, ay, wala na masyadong manood kasi naka-ilang extend na yata sila. Then, poof. Ubos ticket kahit sa mga connections. Ayoko naman ng scalpers because dami masyadong scammers. Then I checked Taiwan. Sabi ko, ay, hindi masold out 'to agad kasi 'di naman super English speakers mga Taiwanese, but no. Ubos din agad. And so, my travel soul sis messaged me lang na if gusto ko ba raw manood sa bansang ayaw kong puntahan. HAHAHAHAHA. Shemayyyuyyy. Syempre, dahil alipin tayo ng quatum jump, sige na. Sabi ko, 'pag mahal ticket ng show at mahal ang flight, no na lang. And, poof. Ayun na nga. Hahahaha. Sabi niya rin, 'wag ko na raw gawin 'yung ultimate flaker of this lifetime ko nung Tokyo trip namin. Naging running joke na sa small and extended circle namin 'yan pero love pa rin naman nila ako to the point na kulang na lang pati hotel, sila mag-book para sure plus sunduin ako sa bahay para sure na nasa airport ako to check-in my luggage. Also, isa pang highlight ng Miss Saigon is hindi na ako focused kay Kim and Chris. Sige na, Pinas. Ipakita mo ang anking galing ng brown eyes mo. SHEMYYY. EMYYY. CHAZZYYY. Kidding aside, the best thing about Miss Saigon is how Kim loved to the fullest at the expense of her sanity and her own existence. HUY. She dreamed a dream of a life that's better and that dream took her to a place where she had her whole new world - Tam.

Looking back, this might have been where I got my worldview about why bearing a child is not exactly what makes a woman's totality full. Actually, I was like: Childbearing may be the way to a woman's ultimately FOOL era, especially during times of uncertainties, like war.

I do admire her love for her son to the point where it just hit me that all the while, she was pre-empting her ultimate delulu solulu "I'D GIVE MY LIFE FOR YOU". Syempre, naluha na naman ako ihhh. Buti talaga, pinanood namin ni dad 'yung YT version ng buong prod bago ako lumipad. JUSKO. Nung 13 years old ako, gulat ako bakit siya nag-byebyebye sa earth e puwede naman siyang mag-start anew. And also, as I was sweltering in the streets of Singapura, narealize ko rin why I chose Hanoi as my first ever city outside Pinas na visited. Ayoko kasi talaga ng city, kaya naman... Hanoi tayo. I imagined myself walking the streets that Kim may have walked in ages ago. LOL. Ang arteeeee, tehhh. LELS. Feel na feel ko 'yung paglapag at pagpasok sa immigration ng Hanoi noon. I think 2015 yata 'yun. Solo travel emyyy tapos ayun. Hihihihihihihi. And, also, kakatawa kasi, all roads talaga lead back to mother dragon's kill-me-one-liner na: stories and love live on kemeruuutt. HUY. Ngayon ko lang 'yan narealize kasi iyak-iyak mode na naman ako somewhere in Hanoi, kasi namiss ko nanay kong magaling sa ngalan nung Samsonite luggage ko. Trigger. LELS. Isa pang tawang-tawa ako e, eto naman palang si Kim at Gigi ang mga versions ng mga Asian women na tinatawid ang pangarap nilang passport to the dream. Hahahaha. Pinay pa noh? LOL. Kaya mo namang mag-travel kahit saan ng PH passport a? Di ba kahit Europang pangarap mo, kaya ng PH passport 'yan. Me: ULOL. -- Yun lang talaga nasabi ko. As in. Miss Saigon may be so basic. True. It may be another attempt to show the world that we're still stuck in this war for supremacy between the Oriental and the Occidental. It may be another cultural appropriation that solidified the stigma of the countless Kims, Gigis, and other Asian women who are in it to win a passport from first-world countries. However, it is a social commentary about how war is fucking things up regardless of how powerful or powerless any country is. War is never a good thing for everyone especially the kids. And most importantly, the damage that wars create boils down to the humanity's primordial deontic truth: authentic connections.

Sooooo, it finally happened to me as well. Tumblr just ate my answer to anon, but well, I had a draft. Here you go nonnie!

I think most current Cas/Destiel fans are Dean/Jensen fans. Period. They beat their chests about Dean apologising to Cas and instead we got Dean forgiving Cas and yet they screamed Destiel. Now the same bunch say Cas dying and Dean saying Cas I love you after he dies is also good enough for them. When Cas has fans like this, who needs enemies. No wonder the writers and show treat Cas so badly. I personally think Misha is not in final episode - he will be shown as a memory / flashback. That's it.

Oh, there’s a lot of unpack here. Spoilers ahead!

I’ll start with the most pressing issue right now. I’m very upset about the show playing “where is Misha” game in regards to the episodes 19 & 20. I’ve seen some positive takes on it like - Cas is so IMpoRtAnttttt, that’s why they are keeping his appearance a secret! Lol no. Like we haven’t heard that one before. And usually, if the show doesn’t mention Cas, it’s because he is not there like it was with the 200th episode or s11 mid season finale. (And fans hoped that Cas is being kept as a secret then) Other take - Cas has different clothes in finale! So what? Keep those clothes a secret, post more trench coat Cas. Some folks think it is done to generate chatter on soc media, which is already happening, true, but also, it’s not a good thing? And other folks think that Cas fans are hysterical, again, because lol duh, of course Cas will be in the last episode because destiel is happening because Cas is important character!

I personally think that all this secrecy around Cas/Misha in the 15x20 is manipulative and cruel. TPTB are intentionally yanking fandom and the longer it goes, the more I’m ready agree with you that we will have very little Cas/Misha in the series finale. Maybe it is already filmed. Maybe it can be filmed with green screen and only Misha on the set. I just can’t wrap my head around the idea that the hook SPN has for the final episode of 15 seasons is the mystery of Where Is Cas. Like, what logic is there? We just killed fan favorite, unofficial third lead in 15x18 but please keep watching the show! He’s very dead! We know you loved him! Have some Mark P in exchange!!!

I mean, the only reason I would be excited to watch 15x20 if Dabb personally assures fans that yes, Cas will be back. Otherwise, why bother? It’s not a secret that a lot of fans kept watching only because of Cas. To kill Cas again and to toy with his fate, again, is just so, so low. We just went through all this emotional rigmarole afters s12 finale. And before that, s10 finale. And before that was 7x01. Cas being killed for good is not new or original. Uncertainty about the number of Cas episodes in every season is not new. To rub this again into Cas fans faces is just plain cruel. What kind of surprise element is there left? Is this how SPN show runners want to be remembered? Sigh, SPN writers are really trying to snatch the title of the worst show runners from those Game of Thrones dudes.

Other stuff under the cut.

You know, I also used to think that most of destiel metas were written by Dean fans. And metas are the tool that frames fans’s opinions and feelings, so the overall feeling, at least for me, was that destiel metas and majority of fans don’t care much about Cas. After every pivotal destiel scene there were plenty of metas that explained why and how the scene is a step towards canon destiel etc. And quite often in the haste to prove it, Cas’s feelings and motivations were ignored while Dean’s explored and justified. Just remember how destiel metas treated “beer run” scene in s11 finale. How much effort was put into dismissing Cas’s hurt feelings, how Cas fans were told to shut up because we are getting destiel soon. It took months for meta writers to admit that the scene was harmful to Cas. I don’t even want to talk about this so called apology in s15x09 and how wrong it was on how many levels. After building up destiel conflict for 3+8 eps, after Dean lashing out at Cas with passive aggressive comments during that time, we got half baked apology for wrong issues via prayer! Not even face to face. (And Dabb admitted that their issues are not fully resolved, meta writers didn’t mention that at all) So yea, I feel you. But I have also been visiting Dean stan blogs, and well, they think that most of destiel metas are written by Cas stans who don’t care about Dean’s feelings at all. Curious, isn’t it? So, now I personally think that most pro destiel metas are written with one goal only - to prove that destiel subtext exists (duh), that it is intentional and it will lead to some kind of canon acknowledgement. They cherry pick stuff that helps to prove that writers are building up destiel and ignore scenes where the same writers insert No Homo or bros only stuff. Notice how Dean and Cas patching up their relationship in 15x09 is followed by a wacky episode where Dean and Sam are super wacky? It happens all the time, after a destiely scene we get a tribute to that other ship.

Next. There always have been fans who were OK with destiel going canon if Cas (or Dean) dies. This fandom in particular loves angst and character death. I’ve my theories about it, but it’s not surprising that these sentiments are getting more popular now. Folks care about the validation of their ship, if Cas dies, who cares because suffering is what matters. I personally think that now, halfway through s15 it’s too late to make destiel canon. There’s no time left to resolve the main conflict, the trust issues. And without emotional resolution of their last conflict, what’s the point? We don’t have another season coming. 

The beauty of canon ship is that they had positive, enriching time together, even if the big ILY happens at the very end, we witnessed them getting closer. And make no mistake, SPN writers did really good job at separating Dean and Cas ever since s8. Half of the time Cas was on the show, he was away from Dean. So, when the shippers are denied actual scenes between Dean and Cas, no wonder they don’t care if Cas lives or dies.

Now look at s15 and tell me if this is something to cherish - all the time they spend apart, all small jabs Dean threw at Cas, Dean blaming Cas for Mary’s death, sending Cas to Hell with Belphagor without a second thought and then chewing him out for making a decision not to die there. And of course the crown jewel of Bobo, Dean telling Cas “Then you are dead to me!”. That’s the stuff soulmates are made of, I’m telling you. /sarcasm/

(I grant it does allegedly involve Jensen expressing interest in Berens’ crappy sues - funnily enough the one thing I haven’t seen anybody blame him for.)  Again, this is referring to one conversation back last summer.  [X, X]

This episode was pretty intense. All the jumping from person to person. I’m rating Izel a 10/10 on the Cool Bad Guy scale, because this was really awesome. I mean for her obviously. Not everyone else. But this episode gets a 1000/10 on the Unnecessary Death scale because really? Davis??? BOO! Also I’m giving current Fitz the Good Alternate Dimension Twin Award. He’s doing amazing.

The song for this episode is “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” by The Rolling Stones because get it?? Jumping?? Hahaha. Also I just like this song.

Spec, Spec, Spec

I thought I would try my hand again at doing a little predicting at the next couple of episodes. I am NOT a meta writer, I just like to look at the story and what others think and piece it together with the spoilers. Don’t count too much into this, I once told my high school English teacher that Nathaniel Hawthorne must have really liked the color red, symbolism be dammed. Jump in with your thoughts! Oh, and spoilers lurk below. 

Ep 7-

Based on the pics, Sam is injured/laid up. Due to the god wound? Cas is either on the way back, or answers when Sam calls him for help. Cas meets Eileen and I’D BETTER GET SOME CUTE SIGN LANGUAGE COMMUNICATION. (I thought the caps might help communicate my desires to the Supernatural overloads.) Still haven’t figured out Cas’ shiny shoes- maybe a peek into AU Cas for the first time from one of Sam’s visions?

Meanwhile, Dean runs off at the beginning of the ep on a case/a push to realign himself, and doesn’t know any of this. Runs into Leo, shenanigans ensue. Singing, maybe dancing?

On a personal note, this ep will remind me how much I love Dean or make me want to beat him with a hammer. I don’t know what to expect from Adams. As for the bi-theory/Leo as an ex, I’ve expressed my thoughts on that, but hey, ya never know. Dreams make the world go round. 

Ep 8-

A Buckleming special. They are good for two things, and two things only- advancing the plot and hurting/killing people. This ep features the return of Micheal/Adam. Sooooo…. I have this new theory that Micheal/Adam, lets call them Michdam, are coming into the plot as an ally, not as a nemesis. There are a lot of smarter people than me on social media that think an endgame for Sam and Dean will be restructuring the afterlife. That heaven and hell are essentially a skewed system and it needs to be overhauled. Which is the exact plot of the Good Place, two awesome shows dealing with the consequences of life and death in Thursday primetime yall. So Michdam has been stuck in hell for some time, seeing themselves how messed up things are. And maybe Michdam wants to stick it to Chuck, and this would be a way to go. It would be interesting. 

Now, unto Dean/Cas. Cas is hanging around after ep 7, wanting to help defeat Chuck. He’s giving Dean the cold shoulder, Dean is being a douche. @bluestar86 has been thinking that Cas might die in this ep, which I sort of agree with. I don’t he’ll die (overused?), but I think some sort of danger will befall him for 2 reasons- 1. We need a mid-season cliffhanger 2- Something needs to motivate Dean into making his ep 9 prayer. Something related to him being more human? A coma? I donno? It’s hard to think of something that could happen to Cas that would be dramatic that hasn’t already happened. It’s very interesting that Misha is not in ep 9, this might explain why. Bonus points if it is like she theorized, if its by Chuck’s hand and he has some line about never being able to control/predict Cas and therefor invalidating Dean’s manpain about their relationship being manufactured by Chuck. Boom. Uber painful. 

Ep 9- 

I have some bizarre theories about this one that might be totally off base, but here we go… I think this ep is some kind of flashback or AU episode. The fact that Bobby, Jody, AND Jack will be in this is interesting. Jody with the dark hair seems to indicate something, unless she just wanted a change. Jim Beaver seemed to indicate he was playing OG Bobby was well. And I think Jack in this is just… Jack. Not post soul vanishing/current resident of the empty Jack. Since Bobo likes pain so much, having all these characters get revisited in the past or some kind of alternate universe just reads super painful to me. 

As for the prayer, I don’t know. It’s really hard to think of some kind of heterosexual reason for it, but when there is a will, there is a way. Supernatural will find it. Now if it were to be some kind of Destiel reveal, Bobo would get it I think. He’s been with the show for a while, disappointed by the Wayward not getting picked up, and who specializes in pain. If I were Dabb, I’d give it to Bobo. Clown mask activate!!

Things are kind of dry on the spoiler front for 10 moving forward, so I’ll stop here. What do you think? Am I nuts? Agree? Disagree?

To me Yockey is arguably the best writer on the show; he is the only one whose episodes I love 100%. It really annoys me that he writes so few eps (last season he only did 3) while Bucklemming gets like 5 with like 3 of them being myth arc ones. Tbh the writing would be SOOOOO much better if he got to do more episodes. Out of curiosity who is your favorite writer?:)

I mean, I like most of the writers for different reasons, and can appreciate their stylistic differences, you know? I’ll get to that in a second, but first I’m gonna address the writing room hierarchy for a second… because that’s why the newer writers are only getting 3 episodes each, especially in a shorter season with only 20 slots available…

Dabb, as showrunner, gets the first and last episodes, and this year also the 300th. Last year he co-wrote 13.10 with Bobo, and in s12 he also wrote 12.09, as the post-winter-hellatus episodes.

Dabb’s been around for a really long time, and I get his writing style. Writing the season premiere and season finale every season now, he’s basically setting the foundation that the rest of the season rests on, and he gets the job done.

❂So that’s a total of 3 out of 20 accounted for.

Bobo is essentially next in line, and he has been getting 4-5 episodes per season since 11. 4 in 11 (co-wrote 11.17 with Dabb), 5 in 12 (co-wrote 12.19 with Meredith Glynn), 4 in 13 (co-wrote 12.09 with Dabb). I don’t know if he’s going to have 3 or 4 episodes this season, so I’m gonna guess it will be 3 just for the purposes of estimation…

I LOVE Bobo’s writing. I LOVE that he’s still giving us such powerful Wayward-adjacent content despite the heartbreak of not getting the spinoff we all deserved.

This brings me to the three newer writers on the team…

Davy Perez has given us some fantastic episodes. As far as I know, he’ll be getting three again this season. I mean, dude gave us cowboys AND tentacles… and Dean being a complete nerd for comics and horror movies, “I love you, I love all of you,” and Donna kicking ass in 13.11. How can you NOT love that?

❂So that’s a total of 9 of the 20 accounted for.

Meredith Glynn has written some of the most beautiful, heartbreaking, and hopeful character studies that we’ve ever had on this show. She gave us Cas fighting for himself and facing his issues in the Empty, she gave us Dean losing himself and finding himself, and she gave us THE FUCKING MIXTAPE. Heck. Her love for all the characters is just written in big loopy letters all over her episodes.

I don’t know if this information will change, because it’s italicized on Jess’ s14 spoiler sheet, which means it’s still unconfirmed, but Meredith is listed as having four episodes in s14… 5 & 8 are already confirmed, but she’s tentatively listed for 14 and 17, too… She did write four in 12 and 13, as well, so that seems legit. :P

❂ So that’s 13 of the 20 accounted for.

Steve Yockey. Heck he writes such rich, layered episodes. They are a meta goldmine that we could spend weeks analyzing. Isn’t it convenient we’ve got an extra week to revel in 14.06? :D He’s probably on the list for three episodes again this season, and we’re lucky to have them.

❂ So that’s 16 of the 20 accounted for.

That leaves 4 for Bucklemming… and while they have a long history of ickiness and terrible things, they aren’t entirely horrible. I mean, 14.02 got the job done. 13.22 did as well. Heck, 13.18 too. They do write to the themes, and even when they fall short of the other writers in terms of the layering and nuance and meta-level of love for the show, they’re there and they’re not going away. I try to focus on what actually matters in terms of plot advancement in their episodes, and side-eye their bizarre takes on canon and weird retcons that only seem to apply to their episodes.

(and honestly bless the other writers for all their little jabs at some of the eye-roll worthy stuff in their episodes… I am giving significant glances at all of them and sliding them all fresh baked cookies and shots of bourbon, because I see what they did there…)

But yeah, I love all the writers in general (and even try to see the good in bucklemming episodes, because I love this show enough to make the effort worth it to me…)

• sharing their song playlist. them saying they like bitter love songs.

• the fact that Yibo brought GG to his home for their 11th anniversary. When he said that year he gained a new friend = GG ; and GG also said he came there as Bobo’s friend. 🤍

• THE UNCONSCIOUS HAND REACHING. You wanna hold hands? Is that what we do here now?

• When they rewatched the 2017 episode! Awww! It just came full circle— from strangers to good friends. Also when they showed GG his picture, and he figured out that Web was behind him.

• THIS GAME. Very popular with bros. Lol I mean, friends can do this— but do they have to act like that? Nevermind the bros looking at them all 👀.

• the photoshoot they did with the cat! They were each other’s photographer and they were so soft with that kitty.

• them performing together. What I like about them is they have so much fun when singing or dancing together. Too much that they can’t do it well during rehearsals cause they are laughing too much. I hope to see them sing Wuji together again. 🙏🏼

• Done post the recording ofcourse— but TTXS team really putting ‘it’s the boy yibo likes’ the same frame as GG. It is related to Nanhai, but we know who he dedicated that song for. Sooooo.

• fansites getting these photos. These will always be one my favorites.

• All the looking and laughing at each other all through out the show. From the episode aired to the photos and videos taken by fansites. They are so hyper aware of each other. Also Bobo always looking out for GG, staying by his side, when he should be front and center with the bros. Even gesturing to GG where he should sit when it’s so obvious where the guests must go! 😂😂

• I can’t find the fancam now, but it’s the one with GG’s reaction while hearing Motos cheer for Yibo! That was gold!

I really hope we get to see GG guest on Day Day Up again. I had to limit this list and stop from just putting every single moment of this episode. 😋

Ookaay. I’m fine with NPC name change, really. But if you want to change the name, CHANGE IT ALL. 

Edit: Add the original names. The original name might be messier than first localization, or dev too lazy to think the name of random NPC. Most of them using Chinese name or chinese-spelled-western name (idk what it called).  Well... MiraLand continent itself is based on China/East Asia... although contradict with each Nation characteristic, using Chinese name is make sense somehow... Turns out, for example, just because Pigeon is based on (Nikki’s real world) Europe old times does not means the citizen is (Nikki’s real world) European and have (Nikki’s real world) European style name.... (although some Pigeon character did have European (fantasy) name...)

When I played Nikki first time, I actually want to rant about the NPCs name.

The Cloud Empire is based East Asia, of course it normal for them to have Chinese-like name. BUT LUNAR?

Apple Federal seems like usual modern city, and very similar with Nikki’s world (China), but that doesn't guarantee they will have Chinese name, or even western-like name... BUT Yvette AND KIKI?? (I actually have a bit difficulty remember some NPC names because their name is sooooo common. Timi, Kimi, Kiki, Vivi, Hi... ka, Yasu, Aron, Toto, Aiko (4 letters)... That’s why I’m happy about the change, at first...) It feels like the parent doesn't think much for the elder sister (or daughter) :’)

Both Yoko and Bobo are weird too. And the Lilith Kingdom Queen’s name, Nanari also weird if you think that Lilith is based on western fairy tale. Nanari, Kaze, Hika, Yasu, and Yoko sounds a bit Japanese.. and then you have ROYCE. Hiki’s new name Neva kinda match with the country, but Bobo... unless it turns out Yoko/Bobo is half Cloud I might frown at it too... not because it sounds stupid, but because context.

It’s really too bad I don’t have any information about the original name (except for Nikki (Nuan), Momo (Mumu), and Lunar (Ling Luo). The original name might be messier than the first localization tho...

Oh well we do have a few canon ages, like I’m pretty sure Piggy is about 41 or 42 and Scooter was said to be at least 14 during The Muppet Show

as for the others:

Kermit keeps saying he’s like 28 in frog years or something but we all know that’s just a ruse, the frog’s been on television in the 50s for crying out loud. So technically he’s in his early 60s.

Rowlf first appeared on tv in 1962 but he was first made and developed in 1961, so he’s either 56 or 55 depending on whether you think his prior year to being on tv should count.

Fozzie I picture being in his 40s or maybe really late 30s. Just a bit younger than Piggy.

Gonzo I see being 45 based on his very VERY first appearance on The Great Santa Claus Switch, before he officially became The Great Gonzo.

Rizzo and Pepe I’d say mid 30s maybe, considering they both came later (or at the very least became popular) than a lot of the others. Also I’m pretty sure Rizzo was supposed to be a teenager during The Muppet Show era.

The whole Electric Mayhem I see ranging from mid 40s to late 30s, with Dr. Teeth being the oldest of course.

Scooter as of right now I see him being early 30s (I know he was 14 on The Muppet Show but whatever. He’ll always be the baby of the group no matter what)

Walter would either be late 20s or early 30s, right around Scooter’s age.

Sam Eagle is a toughie cuz he always seemed to be a lot older than the others in terms of appearance and mannerisms, but he wasn’t introduced until The Muppet Show pilot. Sooooo…. maaayyybbe 50s?? Either same age as Rowlf or a bit older.

Bobo I’d say in his 40s. I guess it sort of depends on how old his daughter’s supposed to be.

Bunsen and Beaker, well I always imagined Beaker being a few years younger than Bunsen, so he’d either be in his 40s or late 30s, and Bunsen would be in his 40s.

Annie Sue I’m pretty sure was a teenager when she first started out since everyone referred to her as a ‘kid’. Maybe like 16 or 17. So she would be mid 30s, just a few years older than Scooter.

Denise I’d say was also in her 30s since everyone was harping over how much younger she was than Kermit, and we all know she’s younger than Piggy too.

The Swedish Chef is probably in his early 50s.

Yun yung mga tweets or posts na lagi kong nababasa sa social media. My gosh no? Hahaha kainggit. Bakit? Kasi Im so done with 2017. Puro plot twist lang ang nangyari and nothing was stable.

I was very optimistic nung Jan. 1, 2017. Kasi hello, new year new me. Hahaha I was so determined to reach tons of goals. Hindi lang para sakin, kundi para sa Acads ko, at sa community kung san ako nagsimulang mag appreciate ng buhay.

Before I continue, gusto ko lang sabihin na do not ever blame life for anything. Kasi life is so damn beautiful. Not because I have amazing family and friends, pero kasi its wonderfully unknown. And you can mold your life. Kaya ang wonderful nya.

Okay to continue. The year started of great! That was my second sem in my university and not to brag pero grabe ako mag focus non. Legit hahahahaha Sobrang tutok din ako mga members ko. Kaya I know the year started pf great.

Pero sabi nga nila, minsan ang life parang wheel. Minsan nasa taas ka, minsan nasa baba ka.

Well, tama nga naman HAHA minsan nasa taas ka nga naman.

After second sem, I became a University Scholar! Grabe bes yung talon ko nun kasi I know I worked my ass off at my gosh HAHAHAH hirap na hirap ako non kasi may mga class ako na lagi akong pinapag recite hahahaha

then, summer came. Our youth camp was successful! Ang galing kaya ng teamleads at camp servants nun. Hahaha

then, our discovery camp was also a complete success! :) same month yun mga mamsh at isa ako sa mga camp servants. Tbh, gapang na gapang ako non hahaha pero all of it was worth it.

I had a wonderful sem and an awesome summer so I was really hyped nung mag first sem na. Hahaha

Pero... tama rin naman na minsan nasa baba ka.

First sem came. And woah sobrang naculture shock ako. First week palang may mga quizzes na jusko i kennet hahaha tbh sa first week na yon, I managed to fail 3 quizzes from different subjects ata. Kasi hello first week? Nagbabakasyon pa utak ko 😂

The sem went on at unti unti na kong kinakain ng sarili kong insecurities. I was not confident. Umabot sa point na bobong bobo ako sa sarili ko. Legit. Minsan pumapasok ako, lalabas akong walang natutunan. Humina yung tiwala ko sa sarili ko.

Hindi lang yun. I was not a good example to my members and not a productive leader/ partner. I want to reach out. Sino ba kasing ayaw. Pero hindi ako productive. Tbh din, If I were to be given a chance to say sorry to all of them, I would. They dont deserve an Ate na hindi nag aattend sa needs nila. I love my members, and I love my responsibility. Kaya minsan kahit sobrang walang wala na ko, I always try my best na maging ate pa rin sakanila.

At syempre hindi pa dyan nagtatapos. I was involved sa issue na hindi ko naman ginusto. Dumagdag yan sa stress ko sa totoo lang. I usually do not care if I am emotionally stable or not, pero dahil dyan sa issue na yan I know that I AM NOT STABLE. Kaya sobrang nagpadala ako sa issue na yan.

At eto pinaka matinde hahahaha this is the year na iniwan na kami ng lolo ko na super idol ko at talagang nilolook up ko. Siya at si Miriam Defensor lang IDOL ko hahahaha hello captain kaya lolo ko sa coastguard dati. I flew from Manila to Bacolod para lang makilamay. At alam nyo masakit? I only got to stay there for 24 hours. Gusto ko umiyak sa airplane non pero I was not gonna cry sa public haha

To sum it all up, I was not in my best condition. Nilamon ako ng pagod, insecurities, takot na baka malaglag ako sa Accountancy, pressure not just sa acads but to perform well as a person, sakit and I gained weight hahahaha ang lakas ko kumain like legit kasi ganun ako kastress hahaha

After that sem, I cried my eyes out. I know na di ko ginalingan. Hinanda ko na nga sarili ko eh.

At alam nyo ba guys, sinimulan na ang palabas.

Dahil,

• ang layo ko na sa community

• wala na kong bilib sa sarili ko

• I was not at my best health condition (junk food pa teh)

Alam nyo, I was not completely SAD nung nalaman kong nalaglag ako sa BSA dahil sa isang subject.

Pero HAHAHA I was sooooo DEVASTATED nung nalaman ko na HINDI PALA DAPAT AKO LAGLAG.

Bakit? HAHAH

Mali lang pala yung napost na grade nung prof ko. Pasok sa quota yung totoo kong grade mga mamsh. At putek ang sakit sakit malaman non lalo na pag pinag shift ka na ng mga tao sa university nyo. Sa isang bula lang, lumabo yung daan ko papunta sa CPA title. DAHIL LANG SA PAGKAKAMALI NG IBA, at hindi dahil sakin.

Sakit no? Hahaha alam nyo mas masakit pa dyan?

Di na ako scholar. Potek, laglag na nga tanggal pa sa scholarship. Sakin yan masakit. Kasi I was thinking about my parents. Sobrang ayaw ko na isipin nila ako masyado. Sobrang nasaktan ako non kasi kaya ko gusto maging scholar para sakanila.

Nagsimula ang sem sobrang ang gulo ng buhay ko. Lagapak ang lola mo eh. Tapos yung crush ko bading pa :( hahaha charot. Sobrang lungkot ko. AS IN LEGIT SOBRA.

Pero ang hirap pala. Kasi hindi ko pa rin pala kaya. School is eating me alive. I cannot contain how shitty I feel everytime people will ask me “Oh, BSAct ka na?” Like parang kasalanan non yon.

Nawalan ako ng vision. Sa sarili ko. Sa community. Hindi ako nawalan ng gana ha? Pero alam kong minsan parang tama na. Hindi na ko productive leader sakanila at napapafeel ko pa ng pain yung ibang tao sa paligid ko.

To this day, I dont know how to recover. When to recover. Where to recover from. Its too much eh. Marami na kong nasaktan. LEGIT. Nasirang friendship, relationship. Kahit di ko yon fault talaga. I am still involved.

Cat Behaviorist Mikel Delgado Answers May’s Questions

Last month, we launched our new “Ask the Cat Behaviorist with Mikel Delgado” segment. Once a month, we’ll post a reminder for you to post your questions for Mikel. She’ll answer as many of them as he can each month, and I’ll publish her answers in a subsequent post.

Sleep deprived cat guardians

I am becoming sleep deprived! My Kat wants my attention all during the night, yowling and pushing at me. Could close door but she doesn’t like closed door. She refuses to play at bedtime to tire her out..I need my sleep! (Patricia LeBlanc)

Dear Mikel, I adopted 5 yo littermates Bo & Ellie last summer (days after saying goodbye to my 19 yo Evi). Their daddy, who’d raised them together from the age of 6 weeks with a ton of love, was being shipped overseas and they were in desperate need of a home together, so in they moved. The problem is the habit dear BoBo has of meowing ever so loudly outside my bedroom door every morning starting around 5:30am. I’ve been sleep deprived since they moved in. Sadly I must keep my bedroom door shut because I’m allergic to cats. I adore cats, have always had cats, will always have cats, but I have to sleep in a “clean room” to prevent attacks of allergy-induced asthma. These kitties always slept on their daddy’s bed, so being shut out of the bedroom now must make them feel sad, lonely, forlorn, confused. I’d hoped they’d just get used to the new normal, but nothing’s changed in 9 months. I leave plenty of food out before I go to bed, and there’s usually some left in the morning, so it’s about attention, not food. I do give them a long play session at night to tire them out. Earplugs fall out by morning. I tried to just ignore it and stay in bed, knowing that if I got up when the meowing started then I was just cementing this bad habit — but he won’t stop meowing (I waited 90 minutes once!), and eventually I do have to get up for the day — so of course he’s learned that if he continues meowing, mama will get up. Apparently they’re 1/2 Siamese (and 1/2 Maine Coon), so that might explain some of the vocal volume. Help! I’m sooooo sleepy. Thank you! (Karin Moore)

Patricia and Karin,

Your complaints are similar enough that I’m going to address them together. Cats waking up their humans in the middle of the night is one of the most common reasons I’m called for help. Sleep deprivation takes its toll, on our well-being, and on our relationship with our cats!

This behavior is usually being maintained for a few reasons, the key ones being that the cat gets something out of it and that they aren’t sleepy when we are – and so they need a “schedule shift.” Sometimes the situation is complicated by the fact that there has been a change (such as with Karin’s kitties, where they were used to sleeping on the bed) or a housing situation or cat that doesn’t allow for the cats to be separated from humans at night.

So, to sleep through the night: the first step is to keep the cat more active throughout the day, and for some cats this means more than just a play session at bedtime. Food puzzles, bird feeders attached to a window, and vertical space can encourage more activity during the day. At least one or two daily play sessions with interactive toys will help.

Patricia, I wasn’t sure if Kat is only difficult to play with at night – so there may be a special toy that you reserve for a night time play session, OR you may want to shift your feeding schedule so she plays FIRST, then gets a meal. A lot of humans feed their cats first thing when they get home from work, and it can be difficult to get cats to play when they’ve recently had a meal – just like we don’t like to exercise with a full tummy!

Food can also get cats more on your schedule. I recommend meal feeding (or some variation thereof) so that your cat has exercise and the largest meal of the day shortly before your bedtime. That will make them more likely to settle down for the night. If you don’t want to meal feed, then perhaps pick and choose when your cat has food freely available, picking up their bowls in the early evening so they are hungry at bedtime.

Now is when things get a little gnarly. To really stop this behavior, you have to ignore it consistently. If you give in after 5, 10, or even worse, 90 minutes, then you have just rewarded persistence. Now it is true, Karin, that at some point, you have to get out of bed. Why not use clicker training and reward your cat for going to a perch when you leave the bedroom – only click when he has settled and stopped meowing. You can reward with treats or praise.

A few other things that may help you out: a piece of cardboard with double-sided carpet tape outside your bedroom door will make your cats less likely to sit there (just be careful not to step on it when you get up!). I’ve also found that a heated bed that is turned on only at night can be really helpful for getting cats to give up their human sleeping habit – turns out a lot of them just use us for body heat! Also, I’m a light sleeper, so I use an air filter for white noise, which helps me sleep, and might dull some of those annoying middle of the night meows!

Male feral cat is aggressive with other feral cats and stalks caregiver

I have a small colony of feral cats that I care for and have my own indoor cats that go outside. A male cat joined the colony early this year I had him trapped and neutered but 4 months later he has become very aggressive with the other ferals and my own cats as well – I have the feeding stations on the perimeter of my property but now he will stalk me and my cats near the front door. Is there anything that I can do short of relocating him to tone down his aggressive behavior? Thanks! ( Karen Aseltine)

Hi Karen,

Unfortunately, some cats are more territorial than others – and it is natural for cats to be wary of other cats. I think I would need a bit more information about the interactions and what type of behavior he is displaying to give you concrete advice. The fact that he “stalks” you, suggests to me that he is at least a little bit socialized. This is also complicated by the fact that your own cats spend time outside, so tactics that might keep him away from your front door (such as the motion-sensitive air cans) would also be unpleasant for your own cats.

What might help: spacing out resources so that the ferals’ feeding stations have plenty of space between them. Encourage him to get his needs met as far away from your home as possible (or even off your property). If you can set up any deterrents, in areas that your cats do not go, you might be keep him from getting to comfortable. If he is friendly enough, you might try giving him some playtime with feather wands (yes, you can try them with outdoor cats) to blow off some of his steam, especially if there are particular times of day that he tends to be more aggressive toward the other cats.

Unfortunately, when we let our own cats outside, it makes it complicated to manage what happens outdoors. You might want to consider keeping your own cats indoors part time so that you can set up deterrents to let the ferals know that your home is off limits. I would not rule out relocating, but we also know that for cats in colonies, it often takes several months and several attempts for them to accept each other, so it’s possible that time will heal some of these wounds.

Kitten suckles and kneads on everything, bites and claws

Hi my name is Cindi and we just got a kitten and i think he was weaned too early he suckles and kneads on everything including us(me my fiancé n my 9yo son) also how do i get mittens to stop bitting n clawing us it getting bad we tried the use toy instead of fingers thing and still bites us all the time thank you. Hi Cindi!

I feel strongly that kittens need a buddy – have you considered adopting a second kitten? This will allow your kitten to have another kitty to take out all that biting and rough play on. Cats can communicate “you’ve gone too far” much more easily with each other than we can with them. If she gets too “bitey,” it’s best to just walk away than try to correct her. Over time, she’ll learn that if she is too rough, she will lose your attention. Be sure not to force her to be held or petted at times that she would rather be playing!

Kittens are at the stage of life where they are going to be most active and they do need a lot of playtime with interactive toys – so things that keep your hands far away from the biting activity, like feather wands (these toy should be kept away from kittens when not being directly supervised), are best.

In regards to the nursing and kneading, your kitten may also benefit from some appropriate toys that let her chew and kick, like kick bag style toys. Cat grass can be another way to give cats an outlet for oral behaviors that might be related to early weaning.

All that said, I still think it would be great to adopt another kitten. Although it sounds like it would be more work, in most cases, the kittens keep each other busy and it ends up being less work for the humans. Plus your kitten has the possibility of a life-long companion of her own species!

Demanding cat won’t stop screaming

Oh if only you could get my cat to stop screaming. She wants her way…to overeat, go outside, whatever…it’s always something….mostly food. She was about double her ideal weight when I got her 4 years ago. I cut back on her food, let her roam outside when I was at home and the weight came off in about 9 months. Now the neighbor got a sport’s car with a cover and she ripped through 3 of them that I had to pay for…so now she can’t roam free outside. I try to walk her supervised every day for a bit before one of her 3 mealtimes. That is the only way to get her back indoors…she is so food driven. But she screams constantly about 2 hours before her next meal. It is driving me crazy so I try to outscream her…send her to the bedroom but she just screams in there! What can I do to get her to stop? I have NEVER had this issue with ANY of my other cats before. Thank you! (Samantha Sandy)

Hi Samantha!

Cats who scream can be really annoying. Unfortunately, they are really hard to ignore so they are often reinforced for their behavior – either because the owner “talks back” or gives in to the cats demands for food or to go outside. Another reason that cats meow incessantly is because they are bored. She needs to be kept busy and occupied enough that meowing for other things doesn’t occur to her!

You didn’t mention your cat’s age, but excessive vocalization and weight loss can be related to medical issues, so if your cat hasn’t had a yearly vet check, it would be worth bringing her in and mentioning the behavior.

It’s great that you are taking her on daily walks! But I think it’s time to give her some more mental stimulation and challenges to keep her busy. Since she is SO food motivated, why not get her working some food puzzles. Cats like this should not get ANY of their food for free. Every bite must be worked for or earned – which brings me to another suggestion. Cats that are food motivated and restless are often perfect candidates for clicker training. You can use the clicker to communicate with her that you like when she is NOT meowing – and you can also train other basic behaviors, such as sitting quietly before meals, or cute parlor tricks like “sit” and “high five.” What I like about clicker training is that it gives cat parents a way to give their cat attention for good behavior instead of responding to their cats when they are being annoying. There are many great resources for clicker training available online or in your local bookstore!

Since she has transitioned to more time indoors, I would also recommend boosting other types of enrichment – such as vertical space, window perches, bird feeders to watch, and playtime with interactive toys. Try to tire her out once or twice a day to help her be more relaxed…and IGNORE the meowing. Trust me, it will be hard at first, but if she gets nothing from meowing, she will do it less.

21-year-old cat won’t play anymore

I have a 21 year old female, Chloe. Chloe doesn’t play anymore. The vet says she’s healthy. I’ve tried several kinds of toys, the feathers, a ball on a stick, catnip mice (she used to play with those.). I just can not get her to play. Is it age related? How can I give he the mental stimulaton she needs? (Rebecca)

Hi Rebecca!

Congrats on Chloe living to such a wonderful senior age! I adore elderly cats, and I’m glad she is healthy. When playing with senior cats, it’s important to change your mind set on what play looks like – it might not be backflips or active chasing. In this case, the goal is mental engagement. That might mean just watching the toy, it might mean occasionally pawing at the toy. More activity than that would certainly be a bonus.

To get seniors more engaged, I recommend using small, quiet toys, such as a cat dancer or feather wand – but try moving it vvvveeeerrrrrrrrryyyy slowly – and try moving the toy under a towel or piece of tissue paper – that is often irresistible!

Most senior cats love warmth and looking out the window, so a bird feeder in a sunny window with a heated bed would probably be dreamy for Chloe. You can try encouraging her to use a food puzzle for treats – if she is very food motivated you could try them for some of her meals, but with most seniors we want to encourage them to eat as much as they want, so check with your vet about whether food puzzles might work for some of her meals. Other enrichment could include cat grass, self-grooming corner combers, and the HexBug Nano cat toy, which is my favorite “automatic” cat toy as it is small and quiet.

I hope you get to enjoy plenty more time with Chloe!

Cat likes to roll in freshly scooped litter box

After I scoop the litterbox my cat Bandit likes to go roll in it. Why does he do this and is there anything that I can do to stop this behavior? (Lorraine Anderson)

Lorraine,

Thank you for the question that made me smile. There are definitely some quirky behaviors that are hard to explain! Many cats do like to roll in dirt, this behavior not only feels good, but in the wild, it might have some protective effects, like preventing parasites or helping cats cool off. Cats may also roll to mark an area with their scent glands.

One possibility would be to harness train Bandit and take him out for a walk around the time you clean the litter box – so he can roll in some dirt rather than used kitty litter. Tactile enrichment, such as the CatIt Spa or corner groomers would give him some other ways to scratch that itch and spread his scent around. More playtime with interactive toys after cleaning the litter box might be a nice distraction for him. Finally, you could consider trying a different brand of kitty litter – although when changing litter, we always recommend doing so gradually and offering choices!

Leash training a cat

Hi, I recently adopted 3 yo Peanut the cat from a rescue. We think he use to have a home but got lost or dumped at a feral colony. He is confident (tail always high in the air) and curious. He doesn’t mind being picked up tho he is very independent (not a lap cat) and sleeps at the foot of the bed. I would love to leash train him and I think he has the right personality but when I tried it once (no issues wearing the harness) he growled whenever I touched him while he was exploring (but he wasn’t pulling away). It concerned me enough that I took him back inside and he fought me (no injuries). Do you have any thoughts or suggestions on how to make this work? (Tanya)

Tanya,

Thank you for adopting a rescue kitty! Peanut sounds adorable. It sounds like when he’s outside he gets pretty focused on the task at hand (exploring) and doesn’t want to be disturbed. Since he doesn’t have any problem with wearing the harness (sometimes that is half the battle), I think that you could use clicker training to help Peanut understand that when he is on his lead, he should follow (and focus on) you when you call him. Target training in particular can show him that following a target will lead to rewards. These exercises need to be practiced indoors first so that he understands the task at hand – because once he is outside he is going to be distracted by all the things to check out there. But a solid base of training will help mitigate some of the effects of all that distraction!

When he is outside, avoid touching him, but instead use the target or other lure (toy or treats) to encourage him back indoors. I would pick him up only if you must. Start with very short ventures outside and keep the lead short at first so that it won’t be too difficult to lure him back in. As he gets more used to being outside, you can increase his time and range. Finally, try taking him outdoors before meals, when he’s a little hungry, so he is motivated to come back inside for food or treats.
