Iâve seen you every once in a while mention your partner and I was wondering if you could (would want to?) tell us a bit about them/you guys? Obviously by still being as much private as youâd like to be. Swear this is not meant in a creepy way but more in a âawwwâ type of way because they sound like a very lovely person through the little moments youâve shared. But also if you donât want to, that is completely understandable :)
Oh dear sweet anon! Thank you for this question. I am happy to share a bit about me and my spouse and our relationship. Iâm very proud of them and who we are as a couple. It hasnât always been easy and we have been in coupleâs therapy at difficult points in our relationship. But for now Iâm just going to gush. Sappy shit under the cut.
My spouse and I met in graduate school. Theyâre older than me but a year (kinda) behind me in school. We bonded over a shared love of music and values around social justice. Plus they are a hottie and the funniest person I know. As a result, we are both in the same field - I work primarily in the applied part of the field and they teach. Since the pandemic, they teach from home so I get to hear them lecture whenever Iâm not in an appointment during their class. Um, hi, they are so talented and also the best professor.
We have been together for 16 years (17 next January). We were engaged after a year and a half together but (if youâre doing math) that was in 2008 and we had plans to move to CA but then Prop 8 passed so we had to wait until it was overturned (as well as DOMA - I donât know if many people know this but things like health benefits got taxed at the federal level as part of income so when we were still struggling financially and domestic partners, we couldnât shared insurance because it would have bumped us into another tax bracket). So we have been married 9 years (we didnât immediately rush to get married as our eldest nieces had just been born and we wanted our siblings to be able to come to the wedding). Anyway! Thatâs the time line.
We love many of the same things. We watch most of the same TV shows and movies and we do so together. There is A LOT of pausing so we can Seriously Discuss what is happening on the screen. Together, we love Brooklyn Nine Nine, Schittâs Creek, Drag Race (and going to live drag shows!), Good Omens, Our Flag Means Death, Heartstopper. And pretty much all the fandoms you see me scream about on here.
Queer As Folk. When I met my spouse, I hadnât fully identified my sexual orientation. I came out as lesbian and then queer as part of being with them. When I met them, they had a chubby one-eyed cat named Kinney. Their walls were decorated with cut outs of Gale Harold from magazines. They had watched most of QAF as it aired (you know the scene in the bar where theyâre watching Gay as Blazes? that was their experience watching QAF). So immediately, they sat me down and had me watch the show. They gave me a kitten for our first Christmas together and I named him Emmett. I did a rewatch in 2018 (?) and remembered that fanfiction exists and the rest is history. Unlike many couples, my spouse fully knows I read and write fanfiction. They have read some of my fanfiction and enjoy it. They think Iâm talented and that I should write book (?). They buy me candy to eat when Iâm writing, they let me close up for hours on end to write.
During the pandemic, we spent every day together in our apartment and we did so for longer than most folks. I have mentioned that they have a chronic pain condition and it appears to be autoimmune in nature and I have a heart condition so weâve been especially careful (we havenât totally avoided getting COVID which goes to show how transmittable it is). During lockdown, they also pursued top surgery and came to the non-binary identity (weâre in our 40s, identities are understood now that we didnât have words or options). I think we became even closer during this time. I can honestly say, my spouse is my very best friend and also the cutest non-binary-bunny.
All the sappy stuff I canât stand in fic? Tons of I love youâs, tons of (non-canon) nicknames? Ugh I make myself a little sick with how much we do all that. (Btw that is an individual fic preference)
Itâs not to say we donât have problems and we donât argue. Of course we do. But overall theyâre the best and Iâm super lucky and we have worked hard to get here. Everyone who wants a partner in life should be so damn lucky.

before i start, thank you so much for doing what you do;this blog has given me good advice countless times and i really have to thank you for that.
my issues with my parents are that they don't take me seriously. i can literally go up to them and say: "mom/dad, i think i might be autistic or have ADHD (both would be quite likely) can i get that checked out" and list a bunch of examples why i think that and they'll just be "nah, that can't be, you don't seem like that at all" as of i didn't break my mind over it researching it and talking to people who have it to see if we've had similar experiences just to get some kind of reference as to why i feel the way i feel and why i struggle so much with things that so many other people find so easy.
but then, in the following weeks and months (after talking w them) they just randomly point out things about me that kinda annoy them, like me talking out of turn a LOT or me not looking at people or me having trouble focusing if there isn't also music and a movie going at the same time or mom saying that i seem hyperactive to her because i'm always moving my legs or pacing around or rubbing my hands or drumming on the table with pens. things like that (plus a lot more) were the exact things i was telling them about and they just put it off like it's nothing but as soon as it affects and annoys them it's suddenly very real. at this point i'm struggling to talk to my parents about anything even remotely more serious than generic smalltalk and i'm having a hard time believing myself that my struggles are in fact real and i'm not just making them up.
and also on a less related note; the thing i hate most about my parents: if i'm wearing headphones and couldn't understand what a parent was yelling from somewhere else in the house then it's my fault. but if it's the exact same situation but i'm the one calling and they couldn't hear me, then it's obviously my fault too (i kinda get the first one but srsly how could i not wear headphones when they're constantly arguing with my brother in the room next to mine) (either way if one of the scenarios is clearly my fault, then the other shld be clearly their fault bc that's how logic works)
hhhh, this got quite long. i would love to hear your thoughts about this
a continuation from the other ask about my parents not taking me seriously even when i ask them for help with my hardest problems. that ask didn't really go in the direction i had planned but there is so much going on between my parents and me that i really need to talk to someone about
background: i'm around 15-16 rn and have a brother who's 18. primary school was academically very easy for me (lots and lots of great and even perfect grades) but my brother didn't have it as easy (lots and lots of mediocre and meh grades) so my parents really just kinda let me do my thing while they were constantly busy with my brother. so i got really independant and did all of my stuff on my own bc a) i always had done it that way and b) my parents were already busy and stressed. but after my brother got his first computer and got into video games his grades dropped and my parents started constantly arguing with him and taking away his computer and stuff like that so there was always a lot of tension (and i got to a point where i can't handle people yelling; that's what i was referring to with the headphone thingy at the end of the last ask) i don't know if i can go that far and say that my parents kinda neglected me and my emotional needs in favour of saving my brother grades but that's pretty much the way it feels.
i'm now a sophomore (school works a bit different here but i'm the equivalent of a highschool sophomore afaik, here it's just 10th grade) and starting from about mid 8th grade (end of 2018) i've been struggling a lot with self care and upkeep of my already minimal social circle and academic stuff (i'm at the academically highest level of school you could be at my age without skipping any years) and also mental health.
i got quite depressive and started isolating myself and casting away friends and my grades went down a lot, which really disappointed me because my great grades were kind of my trademark thing. but i didn't feel safe talking to my parents because of the huge distance that we built by me "never" needing their help with stuff.
in that time (almost a year ago, our anniversary is in twenty days or so) i got a girlfriend and i'm hella glad that i can talk to her about everything but i feel like i can't just go dump trauma and parent issues on her forever
about last november or so i was at a pretty low point and was suicidal and that's kind of when i snapped and went to my parents to talk so being cast away and having my issues invalidated really really hurt then and made me spiral even deeper and my gf was the only thing keeping me afloat.
i'm kind of a bit better now but i have rebuilt my view of my parents from "idk we never really interact" to "trying to interact or talk is not worth the energy" and needless to say i don't like them that much
oh and i forgot about all the times i got panic attacks and sensory overloads @ school because there are so many people there (1700 students + 200 teachers) and it's loud everywhere and of course asking my parents for what to do if suddenly everything is too bright and too loud and you can't move or talk because of it didn't get me anywhere (and since i didn't know what it was called or how to describe it properly, i didn't really find any Information online either
and just typing this makes me think of so many more things that they did that aren't okay things to do (a lot of gender identity stuff for example because i'm also neck-deep in that) . but writing this has also helped a lot right now. thank you for being there and listening.
and just in case i'm ever gonna pop back in to say something i'm gonna drop a name for easier identifying
sincerely - đ milky way anon
Hi, nonnie! Thanks for the kind words, I'm really glad my blog has been of help â¤ď¸
I'm sorry your parents are making it hard to believe your struggles are real :( you deserve to be taken seriously and to get access to all the help you might need. Just the fact your symptoms are there and you're noticing them and they're interfering with your daily life is enough to get them checked, regardless of if you need a diagnosis/meds/anything else. No one deserves to live wondering if their struggles are worth discussing with a doctor or professional.
And you're right: if one of those things was your fault, then the other should be theirs, logically. But I don't even think it's "your fault" you didn't hear them because you were wearing headphones, to be honest. I think it's just something that happens from time to time and that doesn't warrant getting mad over; I think it's the kind of thing that simply needs to be talked about so everyone in the household knows how to communicate with everyone else without getting frustrated. It's as easy as saying "hey, whenever I put on headphones I'll just text the family group chat to let you guys know I won't hear you. If you need anything in those moments, just text me instead". I do this with my girlfriend sometimesâif we're wearing headphones and we're in the same room, we simply pat each other when we need something and wait until the other takes off their headphones to talk. It really doesn't have to be an issue where anyone is to blame. You're allowed to take steps to feel safe and comfortable in your house without getting punished for it.
But, of course, this doesn't work if the people around you choose to prioritise "being right" and proving you're wrong over a peaceful and healthy cohabitation, which is what most toxic and abusive people do.
As for your second ask, I would say if it feels like your parents neglected you and your needs because they were always focusing on your brother, then it's okay to say that they did. The fact alone that those feelings are there makes you deserving of talking about it and wanting to heal from it; the cause of those feelings doesn't have to be something major, or sound deeply traumatising when you say it out loud, in order to "count". And people whose emotional needs were consistently met don't feel like they weren't.
I've already shared this video before, but if you want some resources on identifying and healing from emotional neglect, I really recommend watching it. Please bear in mind, though, that the video says it's important to not blame parents for emotionally neglecting you, but I don't think that's the message a lot of people need to hear and I think you should allow yourself to feel angry at your parents for not meeting your needs and causing you trauma. That's pretty much the only thing I'd criticise about the video.
I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling with your grades and mental health lately, nonnie. I had a quite similar experience when I was in high schoolâI used to always get great grades, but my mental health and trauma put a lot of strain on them (as well as on my social life; I lost a lot of friends in those years) and it was really distressing to see the only thing that made me "worthy" crumble between my fingers like that. I'm still trying to unlearn this idea that your grades define your worth, and it's been really hard.
I'm so sorry your parents weren't there for you when you hit that low đ I'm glad your girlfriend could help you stay afloat in that moment, but they absolutely should've been there for you all those times you reached out to them for help with your struggles, and the fact that they didn't is emotionally neglectful of them.
I'm glad you're in a better place now â¤ď¸ I really hope you can find out all the information you need on gender identity and sensory overload and any other issues that might be affecting you. Know that you deserve for your parents to be there for you. You shouldn't have to face any of this on your own, or even with only the support of other people your age. You deserve for them to care. You deserve to have your symptoms checked out. You deserve adult guidance to find resources to help you better understand and manage your struggles.
Sending all my virtual support your way â¤ď¸ and happy belated anniversary to you and your girlfriend!

2020 Year in Review
Previous Posts: (2019) (2018) (2017) (2016) (2015) (2014) (2013) (2012) (2011)Â
2020 is a weird year because as the world goes through something collectively extremely traumatic and that is radically changing the structure of our lives, our workplaces, the way we connect socially, our mental health⌠our response to diseaseâŚ. SO MUCH ABOUT THE WORLDâŚ. And yet the day-to-day of living in a pandemic is so⌠mundane. I am privileged enough to have that opinion. I have stayed securely employed and it is privilege for my main reaction to something as intense as this pandemic to be boredom. But really, 2020 was a year of absences. It was a year spent largely alone, in my own company. It was a year that forced me to rest. It was a year that made me feel so terribly lonely but also forced me to get acquainted with myself and enjoy my own company in a new way. And it was a year of running.Â
I would also like to thank Connor for making this post happen by reminding me to do it and not to break tradition.Â
January & FebruaryÂ
I am combining these months because they were not altogether all that memorable. My resolutions, as I noted on Twitter on January 2, were to 1) Keep running and 2) Learn how to make fresh pasta dough. I can safely say â mission accomplished on both fronts.Â
On January 14, I had the privilege of presenting a suicide intervention lecture to students at the medical school where my brother goes. By that time, Iâd done a million of these presentations so nerves arenât really a factor (imagine that! Me, no longer remotely afraid of public speakingâŚ), but this one meant a little extra to me. My brother is so highly accomplished, and I am so proud of him, and I enjoyed having an opportunity to show him what I do and make him proud of me. I wore my favourite dress and did my hair all nice and he described it later as âexceptional.â It was a really, really good feeling. The first weekend of February, Ali and I had planned to go to Jasper. We wanted to go for a hike or two, and get super stoned and go to the planetarium. A huge blizzard hit Alberta just before we were supposed to leave, so we ended up having a staycation here in Calgary. We rented a hotel room, went swimming, drank wine, went to Japanese Village, had drinks in the lounge and then later to a punk rock band roulette night at the Palomino and finally crawled into our giant hotel bed and fell asleep to Remember the Titans⌠of all movies. It was the kind of night where you simultaneously feel 18 and 35 years old.Â
MarchÂ
March was when the pandemic really started to become real. I donât know exactly why, but I did not take the threat of coronavirus very seriously until the last minute. My coworkers would whisper about it in the hallways and I just rolled my eyes. But then, people started deciding they would work from home, the number of us in the office dwindled. The vibe was bad. Nobody could really focus. They held meetings at 8am and 4pm every day just for COVID-19 updates and we all waited with bated breath for them to finally tell us to go home and not come back. I really feel like I didnât acknowledge the true implications of this virus until we got the official work from home order, and I had to tell my boss, my laptop at home is too old to run this software, I need a work tablet. My first official work from home day was March 23, 2020. I donât remember much about that time except that the general sense of panic and anxiety made my job a lot busier, and it is hard to do a job like mine from home because it is hard to counsel or reassure clients through anxieties that are hitting you just as hard. I coped with wine, a lot of running, and listening to Ben Gibbardâs afternoon live streams where he would play acoustic versions of Death Cab songs and other covers. He played New Slang by the Shins one night and I burst into tears. I also coped with teaching myself how to make fresh pasta dough, and enjoying what was, at that point in the pandemic, the novelty and fun of Zoom.Â
AprilÂ
In the absence of being able to have a party for my birthday, I decided to be obnoxious and do a âchallengeâ on my Instagram story. I asked my friends to record a distance run and/or walked and send it to me as a birthday present. My actual birthday ended up being a cold and windy and pretty miserable day. I ran 12km myself, came back home and watched both Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL, and then went to my parentsâ to celebrate both Scott and Iâs birthdays with our family. My friends dropped off presents to my door and drove past my house and honked and I felt very loved and appreciated. I drank a lot of Prosecco with my brother and we listened to Kacey Musgraves.Â
It was also in April that I become âacquaintedâ with my neighborhood running nemesis. I put acquainted in apostrophes because I have never actually spoken to him. On one fateful run in April, I happened to catch up to him on my regular route. This was at the height of the COVID fear and so, while I would usually just pass someone on the sidewalk, I went out into the street. He saw me out of the corner of his eye and SPED UP. WHICH IS SUCH BAD RUNNER ETIQUETTE LIKE DUDE IâM IN THE ROAD LET ME PASS YOU. And then we ended up in this like, all-out 100m-finals-at-the-motherfucking-Olympics sprint challenge when all I was trying to do was go for a leisurely training run. And then I finally passed him, turned a corner and had to like collapse on to my hands and knees to catch my breath. Since then, I see this man running all the time. Sometimes while I am also running, sometimes from my car when I am driving through my neighborhood. Heâs like⌠16. And we are very competitive with one another. I hope to one day actually say hello to him. I both hate that guy and have to thank him for the motivation.Â
I ran my first half marathon on April 13, 2020. I was very hungover because I had stayed up quite late with someone on Zoom the night before on a virtual âfirst dateâ that had gone much better than anticipated. I donât know why but I woke up the next morning in such a good mood that I decided I would go for a long, slow run. I got to 18km and figured, whatâs 3.1 more? And so, I did it. The first thing I did upon finishing was call my mom. The second thing I did was contemplate calling an Uber to drive me the 2km left to my house. The other notable thing in April is that Maddy moved back from Australia, begrudgingly and a LOT earlier than planned, because of COVID.Â
May
May was kind of a blur. It was the first month of the Great Virtual Race Across Tennessee, which I signed up for while coming off of the high of actually running a half marathon all by myself. The GVRAT was fucking awesome. It was created by Lazarus Lake, of Barkley Marathons fame. The ask is to run 1022.68km between May 1 and August 31, an average of about 8.3km per day. Well, you could run, walk, or hike. This is the actual distance it would take you to cover the state of Tennessee. Myself and about 20,000 other weirdos from around the world signed up for this challenge. I figured I would never get a chance to run in a Lazarus Lake race for real, and being home all the time opened up a lot more opportunity for training. It was one of the very best things I did for myself in 2020. So May involved a lot of running, because I was fresh and naĂŻve and fully intended to be ahead of the curve. I was running about 10-12 per day, sometimes more, and not taking any rest days.Â
In between these runs, I spent a lot of time going on long, ambling quarantine walks with Maddy. We would either go for a long walk or she would come over and we would get absolutely hammered in my backyard playing beer pong just to pass the time. We would send snapchats to our exes and make TikToks like 18 year olds. I know we never really said it out loud but having eachother during this time made these months bearable. We were lamenting the loss of a summer, and Maddyâs time in Australia, and all of the expectations we had for ourselves. We were watching our friends in relationships move in together or get closer due to the quarantine. We needed companionship, and stupid things to laugh about, and love, and distraction. And I can genuinely say I would not have gotten through this quarantine period if it werenât for the nights I spent shooting Pink Whitney and dancing to Party in the USA in my living room with her.Â
May 13th was my one year anniversary of working at the university. It felt good to have accomplished so many things in that time, and have moved up already in my job, and to have a full-time, permanent contract.
And May 16th was when I ran my second half-marathon as part of a virtual challenge put on by a friend of a friend. My parents came and sat in lawn chairs in the park while I did loops. They cheered me on and filled my water bottle for me when I ran out. Theyâre my number one supporters and I love having a family that does that kind of shit for me in the face of something arbitrary like a virtual half marathon challenge. I knocked 7 minutes (!) off my original time. Amazing what not being hungover can do for your fitness levels.Â
JuneÂ
I donât remember many important things about June, other than Maddy moving to Banff. It was depressing but I was also happy for her and happy to have an excuse to go out there and visit. I went the very first weekend after she moved. Halfway through June I seriously contemplated quitting the GVRAT. My shins were bruised, I was dreading every single run, and I could not fathom doing it for 2.5 more months. I was dragging behind in the standings and losing my motivation.Â
I spent a lot of time with friends reading in parks. Sometimes, often, with wine. I met a stranger in Canmore Park and ended up kissing him. He was lovely.Â
Ali and I had one really good day in June where we went to the Farmerâs Market and then came back to her place and watched Ru Paulâs drag race for like eight straight hours. It was one of those days where we hadnât seen each other in so long and you just feel totally high off of friendship and absolutely everything is funny and you just canât stop laughing. I vividly remember it as one of the best days of the year.Â
July
Again, July kind of passed in a blur. I did a lot of hiking, and a lot of running⌠keeping up with the GVRAT. I hiked Picklejar Lakes, Castle Mountain, Little Beehive Lookout.Â
I went to Banff for a weekend to hang out with Maddy. We had a predictably wild weekend with her roommates and friends. We had dinner at Chiliâs (hell yeah) and then went to High Rollers for beers and bowling. The âthing to doâ at that point for all of these Banff people was to meet at the ârec groundsâ aka public firepits and drink. The police would generally leave you alone so long as you werenât being rowdy. I sat next to an Australian named Josh at a picnic table and later took him back to my hotel room and he gave me the worldâs most unbelievable obvious hickey. Maddy and I sweat out the tequila shots the next day with a long ass hike, and then had a nap before her brother came and took us climbing at the Sunshine slabs â an activity I was not very good at but I wanted to be good at. It was the kind of weekend where you feel like, okay, I definitely indulged my wild side. And you drive home just like totally exhausted but smiling. I sent Maddyâs brother a voice note on my way into town thanking him for taking us climbing and saying it was nice to see him.
August
Okay â August was actually really eventful. Like most of the yearâs events happened in August, honestly. A lot of running and hiking. I did Ha Ling Peak for the first time, and we did a 30km hike to Aylmer Pass one day that was a fricken GRIND. I spent the long weekend in Saskatchewan. We went to a cidery, and I ran laps around my Dodoâs acreage, and then we got to visit Wakaw Lake and reunite with our old next-door neighbours. We took the boat out and went tubing and lit fireworks and had an amazing dinner and honestly it was like reliving my childhood in the best, best, best way. I fell asleep on the car ride home.Â
I went camping with Ali in Sylvan Lake. We got ice cream and cooked fish tacos over the campfire. She told me that Cody had a date planned for the day they took possession of their house, that she wondered if he might ask her to marry him but didnât want to get her hopes up in case it didnât happen and ruin what otherwise was supposed to be a celebratory day. Spoiler â he did ask her to marry him ď I was running when she called me. I was listening to Epsilon by Kygo, and now when I hear that song I always think of them. I stopped my watch and just openly bawled on the street out of happiness for them.Â
Steven successfully defended his masterâs thesis. We went camping in Waterton to celebrate with Matt, Kennedy, Regan, Scott, and Rie. They brought cake. We did a sunrise hike. I slept in the back of my Ford Escape.Â
On August 27, Ollie passed away. It was both expected and unexpected. He had been having some issues with seizures. The vet didnât think it was anything to be too concerned about, he was old and it wasnât uncommon for them to happen. It happened suddenly. I had a terrible sleep that night, and woke up in a cold sweat somewhere between 3 and 4 am. In the morning, my mom called me and told me the news. He had a giant seizure in the night and was crying and yelping. They woke up and took him to the emergency vet, they made the executive call to put him down to prevent any further suffering. He died right around the time I woke up in the middle of the night. I like to think that was his way of saying goodbye, maybe. I cried all day. Well, letâs be honest, I cried all week. I burst into tears at the mere thought of him. He was such a good and lovely dog. He was so loved by us. He had a good life. It is always sad when we lose pets so early. They bring so much joy to our lives, and still when I go to my parentsâ place the first thing I want to do is call for him or pet him. I hope he is running around in whatever the pet afterlife is. I miss him.Â
And on August 31, I ran my last kilometre of the GVRAT. I finished with 733.78 run, 83.18 hiked, and 205.09 walked.Â
September
September was a nice break from running. I got to start coming to campus one day a week, on Thursdays, which was good for my mental health and work productivity. I got to spend September long in Vernon with Maeghan and Madison at Michaelâs familyâs cabin. They took us boating and made us meals and didnât judge us for drinking margaritas with Michaelâs sister literally all day. It was the best. It was the epitome of every summer weekend you dream about. I was so happy I got to go.Â
I met a boy in September. Itâs always September, isnât it? It feels weird to write about him. Like, that makes him significant. But. He is significant. And I met him in September. And it was unexpected. Last minute. And essentially not a day has gone by since that day in September that I have not thought about him.
I also joined a Calgary Sport and Social Club team with my friends for softball and it started in September. We played two games and then I tore my hamstring running from second to third base. I tore⌠my hamstringâŚ. Running like 30 metresâŚ. After a summer of literally running 10+ km every day. I⌠it was the worst day ever. Softball itself was amazing and so fun even though I really do suck at the sport but highly recommend Rec League C-level beer league softball with all of your best friends. Thereâs just no way that isnât fun.Â
OctoberÂ
A lot of pouting about my hamstring, I went to two physio sessions and then decided to just start running again. Iâm bad. Iâm a bad example. Donât do what I do⌠but alsoâŚ. It worked.Â
I went to Victoria to visit Sydney over the Thanksgiving weekend. We went to a Thanskgiving potluck party at my old coworkerâs place. It was a nice experience to be the new people at a party, to have a room full of new people to meet and who ask you questions about your life. We got really drunk and they tried setting Sydney up with one of their roommateâs brothers, and gave us lipstick to try, and poured us tequila shots. We had such an amazing meal. It was honestly so fun. We laughed in the cab the whole way back about how we were going to need to debrief that evening HARD the next morning. We watched a lot of All Gas No Brakes, and went for dinner and brunch and I limped up Mount Doug with my hamstring. It was a very very chill weekend, like we spent a lot of time just lounging at Sydneyâs apartment and doing nothing. Because that is the kind of friends we are. It was so relaxing and lovely. I was sad to leave.Â
Karla, my roommate, left for New York at the end of October. Her aunt was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, and she and her mom made the executive move to go there to basically be with her for the end of her life. She wasnât going to be back until December. I was happy, because itâs nice to have a place to myself, but also sad because Karla is lovely and I knew it was going to be a stressful situation for her.Â
November / December
I am combining these two months because they have also been largely uneventful. In fact⌠I donât know if I could really tell you anything significant that happened. Weâve been in a lockdown. Iâve spent my time playing piano, watching Netflix, listening to podcasts, basically doing all of the things I usually do when Iâm bored. Lots of Among Us. Lots of outdoor things⌠skating⌠more running. Weâve been in a lockdown since early December. Time has dragged on since then. I spent Christmas with my parents. Scott and Rie stayed isolated, because Scott is in and out of the hospital for school. My mom and I watched shitty Christmas Hallmark movies and made fun of the guys who star in them. We drank a LOT on Christmas Eve and both spent Christmas with a wicked hangover. My dad and I ate edibles and I was launched into the stratosphere. I spent New Yearâs Eve with Boy from September. We played beer pong, and card games, and he tried to use a coat hangover to pick the lock on the mysterious room that my landlord keeps locked. We spent most of the night kissing, honestly. I was happy to spend the last moments of the year with him.
2021:Â
Honestly... at this point... who really knows?Â

2/9/2015 v. 8/11/2020
1:Talk about the first time you watched your favorite movie. My favorite movie is Scream, and it started when I saw the midnight premier of Scream 4 with my dad back when I was in 8th grade, then Scream 1 came on AMC late on night and I just really like it
I still think Scream is one of my favorites, but Halloween has jumped up there just because I am obsessed with all things horror really lol. I started to love Halloween because of the new trilogy.
2:Talk about your first kiss. Itâs really not that interesting but really like embarrassing. It was with my first boyfriend and I had just turned 15 and we were at the school just walking around and we went into the band hall and I was like ok im leaving and he was like wait and we kissed and i was like o
the same !Â
3:Talk about the person youâve had the most intense romantic feelings for. I never really have had intense feelings for anyone. I d k
One my exes- I mean we were dating for awhile so thatâs pretty intense to me.Â
4:Talk about the thing you regret most so far. I regret⌠Nothing really I mean, I have done really bad things in my life, but i donât regret them
I regret failing like 2 semesters of college lmao and almost dropping out. If i didnât then I would 1- would have been done earlier and 2- would have already completed a year of grad school but IDK also another is wasting lots of money in 2017-2018
5:Talk about the best birthday youâve had. The best birthday Iâve had was.. Idk This year was was nice I saw Iggy Azalea in concert, then I celebrated my friendsâ birthday then mine and it was just everyone got to get together so ya this year my 18th
For my 21st birthday I went to Portland, Oregon and spent the weekend there and it was pretty and my first time there so it was nice despite what I think about PDX now. I donât even know what I was doing for my 19 and 20th birthday lol.Â
6:Talk about the worst birthday youâve had. My 17th birthday because I was stuck 2 hours away from home with a bunch of nerds doing a band competitionÂ
That is still probably my worst birthday. I forget to mention that I was gone literally from like 7am to midnight. They werent a bunch of loser nerds, they were my friends, but I still wish I was just at home lol.Â
7:Talk about your biggest insecurity. I am skinny, but not fit. If I eat anything I get this like stomach and it makes me so sad. and ever since I got a job I work odd hours and I eat a lot of fast food and Iâve gained 10 pounds in 2 years and I guess iâm insecure about my weight
I am still insecure about my weight, and I probably weight like 5 pounds more than I did when I made this post 5 1/2 years ago.Â
8:Talk about the thing you are most proud of. We have band banquets for band, and I only went my sophomore and junior year, and seniors give out awards to underclassmen that are just jokes really, and both years 4 different seniors gave me an award for being the biggest gossip in the entire band and I was proud of that lol
Well since then I have graduated both high school and college. I am proud that I finished college !! A BS in Psych. Proud of myself that I got promoted (in 2017) at my job; iâm proud of myself that I have my own apartment, and blah blah basically just doing regular adult shit.Â
9:Talk about little things on your body that you like the most. I like my nose because of how perfectly fixed it is. I also really like my freckles/moles/dark marks idk what they are exactly, but theyâre on my face and they look great
I still feel the same way about this, maybe add my eyebrows- theyâre not like clean and nice theyâre just expression markers on my face that i love.
10:Talk about the biggest fight youâve ever had. I got into a fight with my old friend Angelica and that was almost 4 months ago and we used to be best friends and now we never talk.
When Janett didnât talk to me all summer of 2019 because I told our other friend Angel something
11:Talk about the best dream youâve ever had. I cant remember one 12:Talk about the worst dream youâve ever had. I canât remember one
13:Talk about the first time you had sex/how you imagine your first time. The closest thing iâve had to like sex was being locked in a back of an SUV with a stranger drunk as fuck and naked and its embarrassing
Just awkward and nothing to which I expected.Â
14:Talk about a vacation. When I was 16, the high school band took a trip to Hawaii, and all my friends were in band so it was great. We did a lot of things, we toured Pearl Harbor and even played a few patriotic songs on the USS Miss. and our hotel was on Wakiki beach. I went snorkeling in some beautiful water and shit and idk just walked all around Hawaii having a great time omg we got on stage at the Hard Rock Cafe and sang with German people i miss it
Hm that was fun. But I.. went to NY with my ex and that was pretty cool because I literally love New York, and I went to NOLA two years ago (today actually) and got miserably drunk so that was fun tooÂ
15:Talk about the time you were most content in life. Probably just in the middle of junior year when everything and everyone was going with the flow
I feel like 2016 was a very content year because I remember nothing about it.Â
16:Talk about the best party youâve ever been to. Idk which one to talk about the one where I had a lot of fun and risked my life or the one where there was a lot of drama stirred up and drank myself to sadness.Â
I havenât really been to a party? I have gone out and had good times. Really anytime my friends and I go out I am having a good timeÂ
17:Talk about someone you want to be friends with. I am already friends with people I want to be friends with
18:Talk about something that happened in elementary school. I kissed a boy on the back of the head and i told I just fell onto his head
Let me think of another one. Back in like fourth grade my friend was in a wheel chair and his backpack was falling from the back and I was trying to grab it and i was only 3 feet tall i couldnt see over or wasnt paying attention and i crashed him right into the bookshelves at the library.Â
19:Talk about something that happened in middle school. A girl was mad at me because idk why lol and she pushed me in the hall way and I fucking flew across that hall on the floor and hit the wall sheâs pregnant now
When I was in 5th grade (which is considered middle school in my district) I was standing on the play ground and someone threw a stick at my head and it knocked me the fuck out and I was bleeding from my temple.
20:Talk about something that happened in high school. In Jr. Year I was pulling into the parking lot but I was texting and I accidentally put half my car on grass area near the side walk luckily it was 7am and only one person saw me do it lol
One summer going into our senior year we had a party at Michelleâs house. First of all we were very drunk and Cobyâs parents were like we are coming over and we cleaned TF UP so fast and sat on the couch and turned on I Know What You Did Last Summer and his parents were like interesting and and left and then we continued to drink anyways- we started playing truth or dare and my friend Angelica was like I dare u to kiss Anthony (someone I had liked prior) and he wouldnt and we started attacking him and calling him homophobic and hitting him with pillows lmao- him and I are still friend-ish
21:Talk about a time you had to turn someone down. I canât think of something right now.
Literally anyone on grindr.
22:Talk about your worst fear. Iâm afraid of having no career and being stuck doing something I hate and living paycheck to paycheck
Yeah, Iâm scared of that still but I.. think just like being broke and jobless. RN with the pandemic we arenât really working and still getting govât assistance, so. IDK being a real real adult scares me a lot.Â
23:Talk about a time someone turned you down. I canât think of a time :)
One time in like 2016 maybe idk - this dude told me to come over and he lived far like not that far maybe 25 minutes lol far for me anyways I got to his apartment and there was a gate code and i asked him what it was and he didnt answer and it was like 2-3am and nobody was coming in or out and so i was like damn this sucks lmao
24:Talk about something someone told you that meant a lot. Nothing really has meant a lot to me. Everyone tells me the same thing over and over again and its so surface level
I still canât think of anything but Iâm sure the friends I have met since this and my friends Faith, Michelle, Peter, and Alisa have said something supportive that meant a lot to me.Â
25:Talk about an ex-best friend. Angelica Ramirez. She was my best friend for only 3 years, but together we went through A LOT of shit. We started out senior year just fine, but she lied about a few things and made a lot of us feel like crap in October. I wonât lie, I do miss her. We have too many memories to just forget, too many funny stories and great adventures. She helped me with too much, and sometimes I think about how I cut her out of my life and I mad a bad choice. But only time can heal things and I have moved on and truly found people that wonât make me mad every 30 seconds.Â
Brianna Pajak, I donât remember anything about her except she was poor and we stopped being friends because she always wanted to fight and be annoying.Â
26:Talk about things you do when youâre sick. Lay on bed on my computer and watch TV
I normally just suffer and cry about wishing I was healthy again.
27:Talk about your favorite part of someone elseâs body. TheirâŚ!!>>>???Â
I must have nice hands and ur nose must be nice too! so nose and hands. lol
28:Talk about your fetishes. none
yeah I donât have any lol not that I can think of.Â
29:Talk about what turns you on. Idk i really like kissing and touching and this is awkward.Â
30:Talk about what turns you off. bad breath by
that and ugly/rough hands, acne sorry i know it is natural but, shorter than me lol, white people, long hair on guys, and thats about it i think hm i am single yesÂ
31:Talk about what you think death is like. I think its like idk its scary tho
um idk i dont like thinking about death because i literally want to cry when i think about it.Â
32:Talk about a place you remember from your childhood. I remember being in trees a lot
My step grandmaâs a lot because my parents were working and she would watch us. She passed away about a month ago :(Â
33:Talk about what you do when you are sad. I usually only tell one person and that person is Alisa and I cry sometimes to her and expect her to make things better and she does thank u
I be doing the same thing, I text someone and that person could really be anyone but it happened the other day and I texted Bri and she was very helpful.Â
34:Talk about the worst physical pain youâve endured. I have no idea, Iâve never broken pulled strained twisted fractures or anything i have no life
I still havenât done any of that stuff to my body. I also have burn scars but I did not feel those when it was happening. I would just say i guess my wisdom teeth coming in because I did not get them removed. I have 3 out lol.
35:Talk about things you wish you could stop doing. Pushing potential love interests awayÂ
I have had some âlove interestsâ since this post, but itâs been about a year now since and I kind of push away the opportunity of getting close to someone. I also need to stop being a bitch sometimes.Â
36:Talk about your guilty pleasures. eatingÂ
I would say idk eating was a stupid answer.Â
37:Talk about someone you thought you were in love with. never
I was in love and i didnât âthinkâ I was in love. I donât know what you mean by talk about them, they were my partner but we broke up hehe.
38:Talk about songs that remind you of certain people. Fireflies by Owl City reminds me of my 7th grade crush Fancy by Iggy Azalea reminds me of my two friends Michelle and Alisa idk anything else
um Idk. i rly cant think 39:Talk about things you wish youâd known earlier. I wish I would have known that
That itâs okay to tell people youâre struggling lol . That is okay to fail sometimes (school). 40:Talk about the end of something in your life. everything is just about to start
When I ended how to get away with murder I wish I never did I love that show with all my heart.Â

Week 3 Blog Post Due 9/9/20
If people were aware of digital security guards how do you think people would be more cautious about how they use technology?
In Automating Inequality the author Virginia Eubanks describes digital security guards responsible for âcollecting information about us, make inferences about our behavior, and control access to resourcesâ (pg.16). Technology has become a requirement for people especially living in a pandemic where school and work is now done from a computer. However, not everyone has the privilege to have access to technology as much as others. For those who do have that privilege, they are basically glued to their phones even before this pandemic made us do both work and school from home. A phone has evolved from being used to do more than just call others to now doing online shopping, playing video games, watching movies, read the news, and browse social networks and connect with others. However, many users do not think twice about using private browsing when maneuvering through different applications on their phone. Apple collects data from users and even gives them a weekly report on how much screen time they had this week on their device. Also, algorithms on social media networks such as Instagram use the explore page to promote certain posts we have looked at such as fashion accounts, dog accounts, or even travel posts. This is done because they are collecting information about us and our interests but not many people stop to question it. If people were aware of digital security guards they would begin to start using private browsing and incognito features on their preferred browser. Parents would also look into what their kids are doing on their own devices and even limit their device usage.
How is living in a society that relies heavily on technology affecting marginalized communities?
As mentioned due to the current pandemic we are currently having to work from home as well as attend classes from home. In the reading the author introduces how âmarginalized groups face higher levels of data collection when they access public benefits, walk through highly policed neighborhoods, and enter the health care systemâ (pg.18). Marginalized communities sometimes live paycheck to paycheck or in some instances rely on public benefits. Access to technology may have not been seen as essential because schools provided that when children attended. However, we are currently doing virtual learning so now having access to technology has become more essential than ever. In the news two young girls in Northern California were found in the parking lot of a Taco Bell with their laptops trying to do their homework using the wifi and their mother was then portrayed to be a bad mother. Our society functions on technology especially during a pandemic and marginalized communities are being stigmatized for not having access to technology but are also stigmatized for accessing public benefits. Marginalized communities are becoming targets for not having access to technology but also by facing higher levels of data collection.
How is cyberfeminism compared to other forms of feminism? Is it beneficial or harmful?
According to the author Jessie Daniels cyberfeminism ârefers to a range of theories, debates, and practices about the relationship between gender and digital cultureâ (pg.102). Compared to other forms of feminism this one specifically looks into digital culture which is very important in our current society. I personally never thought of looking into a relationship between gender and digital culture. Cyberfeminist writing however can be harmful as it goes back to the early waves of feminism. The early waves of feminism before the movement during the 1970âs and 1980âs for the ratification of the ERA, feminism only included cis white women. Women of color as well as lesbian and transgender women were excluded. The reading refers to âcyberfeminist writing often assumes an educated, white, upper-middle-class, English speaking, culturally sophisticated readershipâ (pg.104). This demonstrates the harm of cyberfeminism because the writing is going backwards and catering to a specific population of women.
How does internetworked global feminism relate to intersectionality?
According to Jessie Daniels in the reading âcan and does bypass national states, local opposition, mass media indifference, and major national economic actors thus opening a terrain for activism that addresses gender and racial inequalityâ (pg.106). This relates to intersectionality because regardless of location people are able fight for the injustice against women across all borders. Also, the reading states how now there is no need to worry about âchoosing which liberation struggle to fight first, gender or racial oppressionâ (pg.107). Global feminism allows for social movements to occur across the world. Just like how the UK had protests in support of the Black Lives Matter protests that occurred across the US this year.

Playing the Audience: Dealing with the Reality of Video Game Representation
If I asked you who comes to mind when you picture your friends or relatives that enjoy playing games, itâs likely that you draw a broad spectrum people of all races, age groups and genders who you know that spend hours on end enjoying video games whether on their phone, computer or consoles. Now for a follow-up question: think of as many lead characters from the most popular video game franchises as you can. The odds are that there is a wide disparity between the variety in the people youâve known to play games, and the types of characters who take major roles in all the games that we play. As reported by the ESA in 2018, 41% of game-players in the US are women, and 31% of the entire game playing population are women over the age of 18, making a larger portion of the total than boys under the age of 18. So why is it that games arenât representative of such a more diverse audience?
Well, the answer is rather simple when you break it down: the games industry is plagued with inequalities on several levels that prevent the prevalence of stories and games including or starring people from minorities or marginalized groups from being told. In a study done by 20-first for Forbes in 2020, they found that a mere 16% of the executive teams of the top 14 gaming companies across the globe were women. The battle against systemic inequalities in the entertainment industries and tech fields have been fought for decades at this point, with gaming as one of the newest fields when compared to businesses like the movie industry, which is currently going through its own reinvention as the deeply embedded tendrils of patriarchal dominance were made clear before the public in the recent #Metoo movements.
This could paint a rather bleak picture for the direction that games are headed, but the truth is that the gaming audience has certain advantages in helping influence where games can go from here. While insiders with industry access can do great things like create networks and organizations to help women and people of color land positions at studios to help their voices be heard, the gaming audience is well on its way to taking full advantage of social media and other resources to develop platforms to promote diversity in the industry and share exceptional examples of positive change in the industry.
Criticism is a Kindness
In her popular online web series Anita Sarkeesian argues that, âIt's both possible, and even necessary, to simultaneously enjoy media while also being critical of its more problematic or pernicious aspects.â Anita is saying here that audiences gain nothing if they passively accept the flaws of the media they consume, whether they are fans or not. A conscientious audience must strive foremost to develop on those complex feelings they have with games such that they can continue to build and improve upon media no matter how foundational the problematic works are considered.
This isnât to say that all criticisms come from a place of good faith, however. Anybody connected to the gaming space throughout 2020 will easily recall the wildfire that spread across social media when leaked footage and documents revealed controversial plot details in the much anticipated PS4 title, The Last of Us: Part II. This type of outrage does little to advance audience relationships with developers or promote an environment of critical thinking in the gaming audience, especially considering the game in this example hadnât even been released yet.
An Informed Opinion
Given the rise of social media, itâs easier now than ever to develop a platform for you to share your opinions. Examples like this springboard post by Aaron Anthony Williams give us a great example of how modern audiences utilize their voices to contribute to the discourse and discuss issues our friends and those who we share interests with may not be fully aware of. Thoughtful critique of games has exploded within recent years as the cost of video editing and production software has decreased to an accessible level. Often times, developers pay special attention to these voices, especially when those concerns are shared over platforms that developers personally frequent themselves or where studios have accounts they make to interface with fans, good examples are Twitter and Reddit.
A queue building outside of my local Best Buy on Cyberpunk 2077's launch day, in December, during the pandemic.
Your Walletâs Voice
Controversy surround games these days get as much or more publicity when things go south. Take Cyberpunk 2077, one of the most anticipated games of last year: controversy seemed to follow the game for several months preceding its release when CD Projekt Red, the games polish developers were entailed in a handful of scandals surrounding the gameâs representation of trans people and ethnic minorities in trailers and demos. When weâve got the advantage of reliable news sources reporting on the questionable content of upcoming games, weâre able to hold those companies accountable to their decisions by not investing in those companies when their games release.
This concept also extends to pre-orders, which are often incentivized by additional content or pre-release access by developers. Cyberpunk had earned much of its cash haul in the years between its announcement in 2012, and especially after its âgameplay trailerâ in 2018, well before controversies surround its questionable depictions of minorities had become public knowledge. The lesson here being that the sooner a developer has its audience in their pocket, the less mindful they need to be to their audienceâs sensibilities.
In conclusion, the relationship between developers and their audiences is a fresh new ground for change given the new tools available for the gaming audience. The majority of game development studios including those at the height of the industry have a long way to go in accurately representing the audiences that play their games, but the voices of marginalized groups have developed new ways to broadcast a more critical and responsible means of analyzing and sharing thoughts on games. This new wave of discourse surrounding popular games has a potential to affect change one even the largest game titles from a consumer level, which was an as yet unheard-of degree of cooperation between developers and their audiences, which casts a bright portend for the future of inclusivity in games.

Analysis: Female directors are having a moment
New Post has been published on https://appradab.com/analysis-female-directors-are-having-a-moment/
Analysis: Female directors are having a moment
In the year of our Lord 2021, it feels like female directors are finally getting more opportunities â and more acknowledgment.
Take, for example, this past Sundayâs Golden Globe Awards.
Three women were nominated in the best director category for the first time.
Only one woman had ever won the category prior to Sunday, and that was Barbra Streisand in 1984 for âYentl.â
Here are some of the women who are making waves and headlines in Hollywood:
ChloĂŠ Zhao: The âNomadlandâ director became the first woman of Asian descent and only the second woman ever to win the best director award at this yearâs Golden Globes.
The filmâs star, Frances McDormand, told The New York Times Zhao really understood the actressâ affinity for the character who packs up her life in a van and becomes part of an older community of people who work odd jobs across the country.
âChloĂŠ tapped into the truth of it which was at different points of my life, Iâve said to my husband, âI canât take this anymore, Iâm dropping out,'â McDormand said.
Regina King: The acclaimed actress-turned-director was up against Zhao at the Globes.
She has been on quite a streak in her career the past few years, including nabbing the best supporting actress Oscar for âIf Beale Street Could Talkâ in 2019.
Now, the former child star is being hailed for her big screen directorial debut in âOne Night in Miami,â adapted from Kemp Powersâ stage play about a meeting between Cassius Clay, Jim Brown, Sam Cooke and Malcolm X.
The night of the Golden Globes, King told âE!â it was âbittersweetâ that she, Zhao and Emerald Fennell marked the first trio of female nominees, given that this is 2021.
Emerald Fennell: Another actress who has stepped behind the camera (we are starting to see a trend here), she has received critical acclaim for writing, directing and producing the thriller âPromising Young Woman,â starring Carey Mulligan.
The movie is not only cheeky but gets into some uncomfortable territory, so much so that it has been praised for turning the revenge genre on its ear.
âItâs just part of the fun of making something, the smoke and mirrors and the misdirections,â Fennell told IndieWire. âI love all that stuff, all of my favorite movies have that sort of thing in them. Itâs very interesting, isnât it, how much we want violence, how much instinctively as an audience weâre begging for blood.â
Robin Wright: âThe House of Cardsâ star did some directing on that Netflix series, so she wasnât a total neophyte when it came to both starring in and directing her first feature film, âLand.â
Wright plays a woman struck by a family tragedy who gives up her successful life in the big city and moves to a remote area in Wyoming.
She told Womenâs Wear Daily that she was delighted with the filmâs reception so far.
âWe feel so blessed that people are feeling the movie,â Wright said. âIt is very relevant to whatâs going on today, of being disconnected from our loved ones. Weâre not living the norm. The message in this movie is about that very thing.â
These leading female directors represent just a handful of creatives proving women are making inroads on the Hollywood scene.
The numbers donât lie: For the second consecutive year, the percentages of women directing top-grossing films increased, reaching ârecent historic highs,â while the overall percentages of women working in key behind-the-scenes roles remained relatively stable, according to a study by San Diego State University released in January.
âWomen accounted for 16% of directors working on the top 100 grossing films in 2020, up from 12% in 2019 and 4% in 2018,â wrote study author Martha M. Lauzen, founder and executive director of SDSUâs Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film. âWomen comprised 18% of directors on the top 250 films in 2020, up from 13% in 2019 and 8% in 2018.â
A rising tide raises all ships, especially when a woman is at the helm, so hereâs to more female directors on the horizon.
For your weekend
Three things to watch:
âComing 2 Americaâ
Prince Akeem and Semmi are heading back to Queens, New York. Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall reprise their respective roles for the sequel to the hit 1988 film.
This time the prince is in search of his son and heir to the kingdom of Zamunda. My question is what have the rose petal droppers been up to all this time?
âComing 2 Americaâ starts streaming Friday on Amazon Prime.
âBoss Levelâ
Former special forces agent Roy Pulver (Frank Grillo) is trapped in a time loop that constantly repeats the day of his murder. To break the cycle, he must hunt down Col. Clive Ventor (Mel Gibson) while also trying to save his ex-wife (Naomi Watts).
That sounds like some seriously fast-paced action.
âBoss Levelâ starts streaming Friday on Hulu.
âBiggie: I Got a Story to Tellâ
March 9 marks the 24th anniversary of the unsolved murder of rapper Christopher Wallace, aka Biggie Smalls or The Notorious B.I.G., at age 24.
Arguably one of the best and most beloved hip-hop artists of all time, Wallace is the subject of a new doc that looks at the legacy of his life and death. Currently streaming on Netflix, with ârare footage and in-depth interviews, this documentary celebrates the life of The Notorious B.I.G. on his journey from hustler to rap king.â
So, call your friends and let them know so your crew run-run-run, your crew run-run to catch it.
Two things to listen to:
Sweden has blessed us with the likes of ABBA and Spotify. Now add Zara Larsson to that list.
The 23-year-old singer, who got her start as a youngster on a TV talent show, is dropping her third studio album, âPoster Girl,â on Friday.
March is the month we celebrate women â and who is more empowering than Oprah Winfrey?
The answer to that is no one.
Check out âOprahâs SuperSoul ConversationâŞsâ podcast if you want to feel motivated, inspired or just need the uplifting vibe that is trademark Oprah. âŹ
One thing to talk about:
Are we over awards shows?
My Appradab colleague Brian Lowry reported that âGlobes ratings plummeted more than 60% from the 18.3 million viewers who watched last year, per Nielsen data, to an average audience of 6.9 million.â
Yikes.
With the pandemic going on you would think plenty of people would be tuning in to shows like the Golden Globes, but, apparently, not. Even in a ânormal year,â there seems to be less enthusiasm for award shows than there used to be, and that begs the question if Hollywood needs to find a different way to celebrate the industry.
The pandemic is causing us all to reevaluate things.
Something to sip on
Looking for a new show to watch? We asked some of our friends around Appradab what TV binge has helped them decompress in the time of Covid.
Phil Mattingly, senior White House correspondent
I basically have an encyclopedic knowledge of Bravo shows due to my wifeâs fandom/the disappearance of sports the first few month of Covid. Not sure I should acknowledge that publicly.

JULY TC CHALLENGE
To show you how very not dead I am, here are all my answers! Challenge made by @baeby-tc who is an amazing asset to the community and I'm so glad she's here
1. Describe your TC's physical appearance.
Well, she looks like me.
What do I look like? Her.
2. What was the first thing you've ever said to your TC?
Probably "yes" or "here" as I vaguely remember her taking attendance roll the first time I met her as a substitute.
3. Is your TC single or taken? Or are you unsure? And are you single or taken?
She's taken, I'm single with no real need to mingle rn.
4. Is your TC more of the athletic type, the nerdy type or the artsy type?
All three, somehow. She's incredibly athletic, a huge ass nerd, and a tiny bit artsy, though I don't think I've seen her draw, but I know she sometimes crafts things.
5. If you and your TC were in high school together, do you think you'd be friends?
Most likely. Though I think we'd be constantly pitted against each other, what with our similar strengths, and those are prone to ruin relationships, but... sure. I think so.
6. Name one song that reminds you of your TC and explain why that song reminds you of them.
Oof. What the Water Gave Me by Florence + The Machine. Back in like January-March, when I was probably most head-over-heels for her, I listened to it all the time.
7. Is your TC fashionable or are they more of the simple type? What is one outfit you'd love to see them wear?
Smart casual, I'd say, with a hint of geek. And I'd really love to see her in dresses more often. She kills it.
8. Would you be willing to become a teacher and teach your TC's subject if it meant you two could be together?
I'd do it without her, because if it wasn't for theatre, I'd probably go into literature, but... yeah. Sure. I'm all for confusing students which one of us is which.
9. Does your TC drink or smoke?
Oh, she drinks. I have a feeling the stories she shares with us are the mild ones.
10. Name one item that is always on your TC's desk.
Her bag. She comes in and throws her tote bag on the teachers' desk, first thing. But if we mean the one in the teachers' lounge, where all her stuff is... the stuffed fox on the cabinet next to the desk.
11. Has your TC ever done anything that has either thrown you off, annoyed you, angered you or bothered you in any way? If so, what did they do?
Oh, she has. Half of it you know. There's one I don't think I've told you about, though, from October of 2018, one month into us knowing each other. I got into an argument with Cynical Twat in class, and V jokingly asked "Are you two dating?" to which I very loudly responded "WITH HIM?". I was super embarrassed about it, and for about two weeks, I was really angry with V and looked for any chance to get back at her for it. Then I just... forgave her, over time, like nothing ever happened.
12. Does your TC have any past jobs that you know of, before becoming a teacher?
Nothing I know of that wasn't teaching.
13. Does your TC have kids or siblings? If so, how many?
I think she might have a sibling. She mentioned it to me once, but I'm not entirely sure.
14. Are you taking your TC's class next year?
If V remains my English teacher next year, which is more than probable, we'll be meeting even more often, four classes a week instead of three, plus one English extracurricular which I'm taking because of my pre-graduation exams, so that's... five classes weekly with V. If she stays, you guys will be spoiled.
15. Has your TC ever met your parents? If you were there, what was the meeting like?
She has seen both of them, and both have seen her, but I don't think either parties remember each other. With my mum was when we briefly met V in a shopping mall in December of 2018, and with my dad in June of 2019 at school. I remember telling both of them "that was my literature teacher", but I don't think they'd recognise her face.
16. Has your TC ever given you detention? If so, what was it like?
Ain't no detention where I'm from, oop----
17. Has your TC ever failed you? If so, how did you react? If not, how would you react?
As in, fail me from English? Bitch, I feel bad if I get a B in her class, if she failed me I'd probably move to Peru or some shit-----
18. What are your TC's hobbies/interests? Are they similar to yours?
Well, we're alike in liking books and watching shows, but she's also a gamer and likes cooking.
19. Have you ever spoken on the phone with your TC? What did you talk about?
Nope, haven't had the chance.
20. If you had your TC's class during quarantine, what were your Zoom calls like? If not, have you spoken to your TC since quarantine?
I did have her class, though they weren't on Zoom, and as you could probably see from my posts, they were a fucking rollercoaster.
21. If you had the chance to go anywhere in the world with your TC, where would you go? What would you do?
I have a favourite park in my city, one that's always really calm and has this insanely magical athmosphere. I'd probably take her there and just... talk. It wouldn't have to be a confession kinda conversation, not at all, just... just us, having time and talking because we can and we want to, about absolutely anything.
22. Does your TC have any nicknames for you?
No specifics for me, but she has called me something that best translates to babygirl/babydoll on two occasions, both of which you can read about below.
23. Have you ever cried in front of your TC? Why? How did they react?
January 24th is all I'm saying.
24. Have you ever walked/drove to/from school with your TC?
Nope :c
25. Do you know which teachers your TC is friends with at school? If so, do you like those teachers?
She doesn't really have friends, per say. She's friendly with her colleagues (my homeroom teacher, for example) and can be seen talking to them, but I don't think she's actually friends with any of them.
26. Why does your TC's voice sound like?
Why? Probably because she's speaking?
All jokes aside â soothing. My next story post is gonna prove that.
27. Do you like your TC as a teacher? Are they a good teacher?
She's bloody fantastic at her job. One of the best I've ever had, and this is not just my bias speaking. The woman scored herself an in-school award for teachers THE YEAR SHE CAME HERE. Believe me when I tell you: she's that good.
28. Does your TC prefer books, shows or movies?
Knowing her, probably books.
29. Is your TC stern or easy going in class?
A bit of both. What she needs to be in that given moment.
30. How would you describe you and your TC's relationship?
Close. Sometimes we get along like a house on fire, other times we don't at all seem to understand each other, but even so, I'd say we're close. And I don't mean to be assuming shit here, but I think we both mean a lot to each other, though on vastly different levels.
31. Do you address your TC by their first or last name?
- Miss, when I'm addressing her directly
- Miss [Last name], when I'm talking about her to other teachers or adults, like my parents or my psychologist
- Last name, when I'm talking about her to my classmates
- First name, when I'm talking about her to my friends
- V, here on the blog
- Either one of the many nicknames I have for her, in my diary
This was a lot of fun to do! If you guys find the time, go ahead and do it yourselves~

PLaystation 5 Event
initially great, despite the horrible pre-orders ordeal.
On Sept. 16, 2020, Sony pulled back the curtain on another slew of details regarding the PS5.
1.      The PlayStation 5 releases on November 12th, 2020 in Japan, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and the United States (why these states, only Sony knows even though I think itâs because of their distinct market in each of these countries).
2.      The PlayStation 5 releases everywhere else on November 19, 2020.
3.      The PlayStation 5 launches at $399.99 for the digital edition and $499.99 for the disc-based edition.
*IF backward compatibility with the PS4 is important to you, Iâd recommend the disc-based PS5. Sony execs have confirmed 99% of PS4 games are compatible with their new Flagship console.
The event also gave us a look into some new games coming to the PS5 for launch as well as games we can expect during the first year of the PlayStation 5âs life cycle. Honestly tho, I think some of those games indicating they were launching during 2021 is a lie. You mean to tell me youâre going to launch Horizon, God of War 2, Final Fantasy 16 all in one yearâŚ..really⌠If these games were dique going to launch in 2021, you would think they would have had at least a working demo or something, instead of a teaser trailer with the games logoâŚbut I digress, Iâll touch on this later.
Below are a few games showed that caught my eye and I just had to write about them.
Overall, Sonyâs PS5 presentation was a good one, with all the information we as consumers were asking for since June and 10/10 would watch again (Iâve seen the presentation 4 times already (twice to write this piece đ)). Â
The presentations started with a trailer showing a slew of different games coming to the PlayStation five system, most games we covered in https://migstheruler.com/post/620830163010240512/ps5-reveal-event but just when you thought this was another trailer, boom!!!
Final Fantasy 16
A nice mix of old and new: as if the folks from Final Fantasy 11 and 12 made a 15 esque type game.
Shiva the ice goddess is back, and looking deadlier than ever throwing out chilly ice crystals sure to cause anyone level seven frostbite
Who´s a good boy? This little pup looks ready to be pet and given treats.
It looks like our trusty steeds the Chocobos are back, hopefully, they are more useful this time around )Iâm looking at you final fantasy seven episode one)
Marlboros are looking as menacing as ever.
Final Fantasy 16 was pretty unexpected to be honest, especially given final fantasy seven episodes one releasing a few months ago. However, itâs a nice surprise to see Square Soft jk Square Enix working on a new Final Fantasy game, especially one that likes to expand upon the action RPG elements (Think kingdom hearts series or final fantasy 15 and even 7).  Aesthetically, this is giving me hardcore fantasy elements with realism thrown in there.
Either way, what a great way to start off the presentation.
  Spiderman Miles Morales:
Next up, Sony gives us a seven-minute look into Spiderman Miles Morales, which expands upon 2018âs PS4 Spiderman. Sony has said this is not a direct sequel but instead a look to further expand upon the world through the eyes of Miles Morales. The graphics and presentation of this game are sure to entice any spiderman man. The lighting coupled with Mileâs powers makes this game a visual PS5 treat.
Last time we saw Miles, he had just shown Peter Parker he too had powers to which Peter Parker joined him upon the ceiling, it was a bonding moment the two spider-men would have. Fast forward maybe a year (Iâm not sure how much time has passed since the last spiderman game) we are thrusted into the shoes of Miles Morales.
âMom Iâm homeâ Can we take a moment to appreciate my manâs line up here, dam that shit looks crispy.
Walking through Harlem, music playing, and folks dancing Salsa in the street. Iâm not going to lie, this made me cheese from ear to ear.
This is what I expect to encounter when I have to mediate between clients ready to rip each other apart in a gory fashion (above). Â
Okay, knowing how strong spiderman is, I fully expect the dudeâs Jaw to be broken after this power punch.
I forgot to mention (above) Miles can turn Invisible and has access to electric powers (below) sure to spruce up and affect the way Miles plays. I can only imagine a focus less on gadgets and more of an emphasis on Milesâ powers.
Although I know this game stars a new spiderman aka Miles Morales, the developers sure are making sure we know  weâre not playing with Peter Parker anymore.
âInsert obligatory spiderman being pulled from different directions trope hereâ Iâm not even going to front; this image is pretty cool.
Lastly, how dope is this launch title? It is one of the first games I plan to beat on my PS5.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â I do want to say one thing regarding this title. I think itâs pretty great from a representation perspective to see a Black and Puerto Rican spiderman. Representation matters. Iâm not Puerto Rican but am Latino and I do appreciate the flags littered throughout the trailer, folks dancing salsa and overall, Miles Morales as a character.
One gripe I have with this game unfortunately is Sonyâs anti-consumer stance regarding those that purchased 2018âs Spiderman. Folks that purchase the Deluxe Spiderman Miles Morales edition for $79.99 get both Spiderman Miles Morales and a supped-up version of 2018âs spiderman for the PS5, yet Sony hasnât extended an olive branch to those of us that supported their 2018 game (even making it one of their best sellers). IF you want to play Spiderman Miles Morales, you can cop it for a cool $49.99 which is dope but doesnât include any type of upgrade for those of us with the PS4 version of spiderman. Honestly, as someone that doesnât plan on playing the game again but itâs pretty anti-consumer to not even offer some type of benefit to those PS4 supporters. Hereâs to hoping they offer some type of upgrade via a patch to the PS4 spiderman.
¡      Turns out the game will run natively better on the PS5 given the consoles superior power but for a truly next gen 2018 Spiderman experience, you gotta pay those $69.99 duckats. Â
Looks Like weâre going back to Hogwarts and Iâm not talking about Fantastic Beasts or Harry Potter. We received our first look (aside from the leak that was released last year). In Hogwarts Legacy, we go back to the late 1800s to visit the Wizards of the Waverly place (I think I said this right, Iâve only seen the Harry Potter movies once all the way through). Either way, it looks like they managed to capture the magic of Hogwatz. The walls of Hogwarts look alive, books flying all over the place and magic spewing from cauldrons of unknown potions.
Our journey begins going back to Hogwarts with a cool looking Owl to boot.  Â
The sorting hat is back babi, it seems like this is a create your own character adventure, where we as the player will get to customize our very own character, sure to get into whatever wizardly fun is to be found.  Team Slytherin all day!! JK, Iâm team Gryffindor babi. But really tho, I have no idea what school Iâd be assigned too.
In both of these pictures, its quite remarkable the little details you see; the more you look, the more you see. Did you see the candles above, or the candlelight below
Looks like our boys are cooking up work in the kitchen aka cauldron. Iâd also like to bring attention to the lighting, truly impressive. Â Time to eat some delicious grub with my fellow wizards!! (Below)
Looks like weâll be facing a litany of different monsters and foes. I know with my Avada Kedavra, Iâll be blasting fools like the one below away.
Dam son, we fighting Dragons out here too, sheesh.
Looks like combat will be a big portion of gameplay as the video showed of a created character fighting some pretty large beasts.
Looks like weâll be playing quidditch in this game, and I honestly canât wait.
I sure do hope weâre able to feed these little cuties and pet them.
Looks like this game is open world, as the characters are seen flying on Griffins across the vista. They draw distances in this game are spectacular.
Hogwarts Legacy launches in 2021.
*JK Rowling has no involvement with this game and thatâs a good thing given her recent problematic statements.
  Demon Souls
Full disclosure, I bought demon souls for the PS3 back in the day but unfortunately, did not stick with the game. It was fun and I would proceed to play other From Software and souls genre games in the future such as Sekiro, Bloodborne and Nioh to name a few. But here we have Bluepoint games remaking the PS3 Cult Classic and precursor to the Souls Genre. I for one am super excited to jump back in and try my hand again at Demon Souls.
This place here is the gameâs main hub that allows you to access other portions of the world map. ITâs nice to see it in all itâs HD Glory.
Our Player is borne anew: Rise from your grave!!! JK, this isnât a Sega title.
The environments look super luscious and literal indistinguishable from concept art. The leaves, lighting, and armor are truly a beautiful sight to see. Â (Below)Â
Nothing like chilling by a bonfire, although if youâre new to the genre, every time you heal at these bon fires, all the enemies you spent tirelessly fighting repopulate.
Call me crazy but in the original, players from other games could leave each other messages written in blood, as a way to help each other out. It looks like this concept is making a comeback this time around. Â
Dragons are so hot right nowâŚ. (insert Zoolander Gif here)
If you have ever played a souls game, you know this is something you can expect to see even in your dreams. I remember going to bed thinking how an enemy boss had beaten me 13-times in a row, only to go to bed thinking and imaging different strategies on how I could kill the foe standing between me and the game's progress.
The gameplay looks faster than the original but the difficult elements remain prevalent. The player is seen mowing down enemies which seems a bit off given the extreme difficulty of the PS3 game. But this could be Bluepoint addressing the sometimes-outrageous difficulty by making it more appealing to casuals.
Launch Title!!!!
 God of War RagnarÜk:
Last time we saw our heroes, Kratos and Atreus were shacked up in their home when they receive a visit from a mysterious visitor brandishing what looks like Mjolnir on his waist. Â The game ended in a great cliff hanger and is sure to improve on the many aspects the PS4 game
Get the fuck out of here. Sony decided to drop a nuclear ton warhead on us with the teaser trailer of God of War Ragnarok, a sequel to the PS4âs God of War. Â Although they did not show any game play, they did manage to build the hype with the screen below: Â
And then to top off the trailer the list the following with a supposed 2021 release date which I think is highly unlikely but, we will see. Either way, âwe must prepareâ.
Sadly, when the presentation ended, pre-orders went live . We were told by Sony that we would have ample time to prepare to pre-order, nothing but the contrary occured. I was one of the unlucky folks who failed to obtain his PS5 preorder despite having the funds to do so. Hereâs to hoping Iâm able to secure a pre-order prior to the Nov 12 launch. I did manage to get a PS5 camera which is a must for me since I like to stream games online, itâs really quite addicting. Check out my channel at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiazQqSufhmIGo2a7odLOpQ?view_as=subscriber.
I do want to say one thing, I am very fortunate to have the things iâve accumulated over the years. I know there are people in the world that lack even basic necessities. If youâre reading this, please donate to cause/fund or organization you beleive in. I know my lifeâs work is to improve the living conditions of everyone regardless of their creed and that keeps me plenty busy. Â

Upcoming Movies in October 2020: Theaters, Streaming and VOD
https://ift.tt/3lducG3
October looks a lot different than it did only a few weeks ago. As the month many movie theater owners were hanging their hats on with the hope of a weekly deluge of new movies , October has recently been vacated by high profile features that include Wonder Woman 1984, Death on the Nile, and Candyman.
Yet if youâre a cinephile or movie lover who is desperate for new stories and visions, it is not all doom and gloom. Between the streaming market of Netflix, VOD, and other platforms, as well as some smaller films willing to roll the dice on a limited theatrical release, there are still more than a few things to see in October 2020âŚ
2067
October 2 (U.S. Only)
A high-concept science fiction setup if weâve ever heard one, 2067 is the story of Ethan Whyte (Kodi Smit-McPhee), a young man born in a dystopian future where he learns that he might be the savior of humanity⌠at least thatâs what people from an even more distant future are saying. In a plot twist that sounds, at least on paper, akin to a reversal of The Terminator, messengers from the future say Ethan is the key to saving the world and wish to transport him via time machine to an unknowable destiny. Chaos ensues. Itâs a big idea, but weâre always game for someone swinging big in this genre.
Death of Me
October 2 (November 23 in the UK)
Darren Lynn Boseman, director of Saw II through Saw IV, returns to the horror genre again alongside Nikitaâs Maggie Q and Westworldâs Luke Hemsworth. In this VOD release, the pair play a vacationing couple who wake up on an island with a horrible hangover. Yet a video on their phones seems to suggest the night before was even worse: Neil (Hemsworth) spent the evening brutally murdering his wife, as per the screen in their pockets. Nevertheless, here they are now, left with a lot of questions of what happened yesterday⌠and what can happen today.
Black Box
October 6
The first of Amazon Prime and Blumhouse Productionsâ âWelcome to the Blumhouseâ series, Emmanuel Osei-Kuffourâs Black Box has a tantalizing premise. Nolan (Mamoudou Athie) survived a car accident that took his wife, but it also took large swaths of his memory of her. So in order to regain his memory, and regain a sense of stability for his young daughter, Nolan undergoes an experimental treatment where his psychologist uses hypnosis to thrust him into his subconscious where heâll be able remember his past and face his personal demons. Literally.Â
Like something out of Christopher Nolanâs Inception, this horror movie shows how scary being trapped in dreams really is if all thatâs in them is the stuff of nightmaresâŚ
The Lie
October 6
The second Amazon/Blumhouse feature is more of a psychological thriller than a straightforward horror movie. Originally premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018, The Lie follows a father (Peter Sarsgaard) who discovers his daughter Kayla (Joey King) accidentally killed her friend⌠until she admits she may have actually murdered her.
How far will he go to cover-up his daughterâs sins? Well, thatâs the logline, and it seems to be a gripping one, albeit reviews from TIFF were less than kind two years ago.
Hubie Halloween
October 7
Last year Adam Sandler warned the Academy that if he doesnât win an Oscar for Uncut Gems heâd make a film so bad that itâd make âyou all pay.â Well, he wasnât even nominated and eight months after the ceremony, here we are with Netflixâs Hubie Halloween. It remains to be seen whether this is actually the bad oneâfor starters it filmed before Oscar nominations went outâbut it is still very much a Happy Madison production, complete with major supporting roles for Kevin James and Rob Schneider.

Horror Movies on HBO Max: Hammer Films, It Chapter 2, Us, to Arrive in October
By Don Kaye
In the movie, Sandler plays Hubie Dubois, the town loser of Salem, Massachusetts. A lonely fry cook obsessed with Halloween, Hubie spends all year looking forward to decking out his home and town the same way Clark Griswold anticipates Christmas. But on this particular Halloween, the town appears besieged by actual supernatural forces, and finally Hubie will have his time to shine. Eh, it looks more amusing than The Do-Over and The Ridiculous 6?
Books of Blood
October 7 (U.S. Only)
Who doesnât love anthological horror? Hulu certainly does, as theyâre releasing Books of Blood, the latest adaptation of Clive Barkerâs multi-volume series of short stories by the same name. Previous tales from Books of Blood have been adapted into movies as beloved as Candyman and as decidedly not as Rawhide Rex. In this film version, three stories are created for the screen by co-writer and director Brannon Braga. Hereâs hoping it lands closer to the former?
Saint Maud
October 9 (UK Only)
The UK will be the first to get A24âs only horror movie this year. Lucky. The feature directorial debut of Rose Glass, Saint Maud follows an unhealthily repressed and zealous young woman: Maud (Morfydd Clark). Maud is technically a caretaker by trade, looking after people in hospice. But she also imagines herself to be something of an apostle, sent to save godless folks from their sins, particularly Amanda (Jennifer Ehle), the woman sheâs living with as the in-home nurse.

Itâs already a tense situation, even before Maud starts hearing voices and having images of ecstasy and Heaven, and demons and Hell. Rich with atmosphere and grueling anticipation of something horrible happening, Saint Maud is a great debut for Glass and a potential star-maker for Clark, who is skin-crawlingly pious as Maud, the young woman whoâs wound up tighter than a jack-in-the-box.
The Wolf of Snow Hollow
October 9 (U.S. Only)
Debuting in theaters and on VOD, The Wolf of Snow Hollow is Jim Cummingsâ follow-up to Thunder Road. That earlier, underrated movie was a delightful mix of comedy and drama that won the SXSW Grand Jury Prize. So the sophomore effort being a werewolf comedy-horror movie is intriguing. Indeed, Wolf of Snow Hollow is the rare lycanthrope yarn thatâs told from the point-of-view of the would-be wolf hunter, Sheriff John Marshall (Cummings).
Following a series of grisly murders every full moon, the residents of Snow Hollow become convinced they have a wolfman on their hands, even if the frustrated sheriff refuses to accept the obvious. The film also marks the final performance of Robert Forster as Johnâs crusty mentor.
The War with Grandpa
October 9 in the U.S. (October 16 in the UK)
For most people, having Robert De Niro as a grandfather can be an imposing experience. But kids these days! Thatâs at least one amusing takeaway from The War with Grandpa, the delayed family movie that sees De Niroâs grandfatherly Ed enter into a prank war with his grandson Peter (Oakes Fegley) after upsetting the youth by moving into his old bedroomâPeterâs mom and Edâs daughter Sally (Uma Thurman) forced them into the arrangement.

Nocturne
October 13
The first of Amazon and Blumhouseâs next batch of original movies, Nocturne is the tale of a hellish rivalry between sisters. Genuinely. The feature debut from director Zu Quirke stars Sydney Sweeney as Juliet, the younger sister of fellow musician Vivian (Madison Iseman). While both young women are gifted pianists, Vivian is a prodigy and the center of Julietâs envy. That is until Juliet finds the diary of another child prodigy at their prestigious conservatory who killed herself. The book includes all the late pianistâs hidden compositions⌠and symbols and incantations.
Ever heard the story of Faust? It seems like Juliet is about to get an up-close modern example.
Evil Eye
October 13
As the final Blumhouse effort to be released on Amazon Prime in 2020, Evil Eye hails from directors Elan and Rajeev Dassani and presents itself as both a psychological thriller and supernatural chiller. The truth of which it really is depends on how much you believe the eye of Usha (Sarita Choudhury).

The Trial of the Chicago 7
October 16
âThe whole world is watching.â Thatâs the chanted refrain of protestors in Aaron Sorkinâs second movie as director, but it might also apply to the level of anticipation regarding this major Netflix release and potential awards season darling. The movie itself is an old-fashioned legal thriller like Sorkin cut his teeth on with scripts like A Few Good Men, but Chicago 7 feels urgently (and depressingly) vital.
Following on the heels of the Chicago riots during the Democratic National Convention of 1968âriots later deemed to have been started by the policeâeight men categorized as âthe far leftâ are rounded up for a show trial by Nixonâs Justice Department where theyâre charged with conspiracy.

Quentin Tarantino Calls The Social Network the Best Movie of the 2010s
By David Crow
The film features the same blistering abundance of dialogue Sorkin has become famous for, as well as his penchant for breezy fast-paced editing. But the political heft of the subject matter and the movieâs deep bench of an acting ensemble that includes Sacha Baron Cohen, Jeremy Strong, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Eddie Redmayne, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mark Rylance, and Frank Langella is what makes this one of the most thrilling movies of the year.
Honest Thief
October 16 (U.S. Only)
Liam Neeson plays a thief who wants a second chance. A bank robber willing to turn himself and $9 million in to be with the new love of his life. But then crooked FBI agents (Jai Courtney and Anthony Ramos) steal his money and frame him for murder instead. So heâs left with one thing to do: menacingly hiss over the phone, âIâm coming for you.â We imagine that trailer-ready threat was what Honest Thief was sold on during its elevator pitch.
Rebecca
October 21
Remaking Alfred Hitchcock remains a tricky proposition that has thwarted many filmmakers in the past. Readapting the only one of his movies to win the Oscar for Best Picture, Rebecca, appears all the harder. Yet everything weâve seen from Ben Wheatley and Netflixâs luscious adaptation of the Daphne Du Maurier novel is highly encouraging.
With a winning cast that includes Lily James as the new Mrs. de Winter, Armie Hammer as her husband Maxim, and Kristin Scott Thomas as his menacing housekeeper Mrs. Danvers, the film opens with the young bride trying to step into the shoes of Maximâs dead first wife, Rebecca. An apparent light of his mansion that has been long snuffed, Rebeccaâs flame burns still if only because of Mrs. Danversâ admiration for her late mistress⌠and maybe the ghost who prowls the house. This is archetypal Gothic horror, and with screenwriter Jane Goldman apparently keeping the novelâs original ending, we already feel seduced by the imagery.
On the Rocks
October 2 in the UK (October 23 in the U.S.)
Sofia Coppola and Bill Murray work together again. For the first time since their luminous Lost in Translation (if you ignore the ill-considered A Very Murray Christmas), the director and star are collaborating on this visibly intimate tale. Itâs about an adult daughter (Rashida Jones) and her famous father (Murray) spending a weekend in New York City on an adventure after years of estrangement.

The film, which also stars Marlon Wayans, premiered to a largely warm reception at the New York Film Festival and is already being written about as a spiritual successor to their original collaboration. Once more a woman in the midst of an existential crisis is aided by Murray between glasses of scotch. Who doesnât want to pull up a seat and order another round?
Over the Moon
October 23
You probably donât know Glen Keaneâs name but you should. The longtime Walt Disney Animation Studios animator oversaw the design and animation of Ariel in The Little Mermaid, Beast in Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin in Aladdin, and Rapunzel in Tangled. With Over the Moon, he steps away from the Mouse and toward Netflix as a first-time co-director, alongside John Kahrs (an animator on Tangled and Frozen).
The trailer for the film is like a Georges MĂŠliès fever dream from as a little girl named Fei Fei (Cathy Ang) builds a rocket ship to take her to the moon. But once there, Fei Fei and friends meet a mythical moon goddess (Hamiltonâs Phillipa Soo) who takes them on a candy-colored odyssey through the cosmos.
Synchronic
October 23 (U.S. only)
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead are two of the most intriguing new voices in science fiction. If you donât recognize their names, go watch The Endless right now. One of the strangest and cleverest sci-fi yarns of the last decade, that film is now being followed up by Synchronic, another original tale that stars Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan. The specifics of the film remain vague other than it is about two New Orleans paramedics who investigate a series of murders caused by a new, bizarre designer drug. But we already know we canât wait to watch what horrible side effects come from these poor bastards taking it.
The Craft: Legacy
It cannot be Halloween without at least one more horror movie coming out the week of. Thus enters The Craft: Legacy, Sony Pictures and Blumhouse Productionsâ legacy sequel to the original 1996 The Craft. Like its predecessor, this follows an outsider who is the new girl in school (Cailee Spaeny). She may be ostracized by the popular kids, but she befriends fellow students who have alternative tastes⌠like witchcraft.
The original is a touchstone for millennials and Gen-Xers of a certain age, and this reboot looks to push the story into a more complex understanding of friendship. And if it doesnât, itâs still a Blumhouse effort so it should have plenty of spooky jumps!
Relic
October 30 (US Only)
Dementia is at the heart of this very eerie chiller where three generations of women convene in an old family home which seems to be rotting from the inside. Robyn Nevin, Emily Mortimer and Bella Heathcote star in a slow build drama which delves into the horror of losing your sense of self, as Nevinâs matriarch goes missing for days and canât remember what happened while her house is filled with odd notes, black mould and snippets of a life slipping away from her grasp. This is the feature debut of Australian-Japanese director Natalie Erika James and itâs a stylish, chilling and confident first feature with a final act that veers into full blown horror. Out already in the States on VOD it has a UK theatrical release in the UK.

Did you know? - Gilmore Girls FAQs, trivia and curiosites
Iâve watched this show so many times, I stopped counting years ago when I reached double digits. Is my favorite show of all times and Iâve been told almost nobody knows it as well as I do, so I decided to put together all the knowledge Iâve gained over the years of trivia tidbits, although in that Iâm nowhere near an expert ;) my deal is knowing these characters and their personalities and the lines of the show lol but I figured Iâd give it a try and collect all the trivia and tidbits of knowledge Iâve gained over the years in one post that Iâll continue to edit to add more stuff (there are a couple that I didnât get a chance to add right not that will add later on)
1. Yes, thatâs Kirk in guardians of the galaxy 2 http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0348231/. And yes Sam Smith (depending on the photo) does look like Kirk (Sean Gunn). Sean Gunn also played the movements of Rocket the racoon.
2. And yes that is Jess dad's girlfriend Sasha now as April's mom (yes she was/is in Twin Peaks http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000145/). Amy wanted to work with Sherilyn and rumor has it she was offered the role for Lorelai first but thereâs no article yet to be found stating this directly from the Palladinos mouths.
3. And yes cousin Marilyn and Gran, Lorelai the first, Richardâs mother, are the same actress. (Happy Dayâs Mrs Cunningham http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005385/?ref_=nv_sr_1).
3. Yes the girl in SH high unnamed who asks Lorelai a question and Loganâs LBD friend Juliette are the same actress. Different character. Riki Lindhome played the unnamed student of SH high and Juliette
5. Yes the first episode looks completely different (not just in the diner) because it was filmed in a different location (Ontario, Canada).
6. Yes, thatâs Luke in Seinfeld. (âsponge worthy guyâ) and in Will & Grace, jerk guy obsessed with huge boobs, Grace wanted to impress with the water bra. Lauren was also in Seinfield as one of Jerryâs brief girlfriends. Thatâs also a young Lauren in Caroline in the city.
7. Thatâs Chris in friends (hums when he pees guy). Yes that's both Luke and Chris on Will & Grace (Luke water bra artist narcissistic guy, Chris cabin in the woods hot guy).
8. Yes that is Logan (and with Usher for that matter lol) in that scene at 7th heaven . And yes Logan. Matt Czuchry was in the good wife, and he has his own show now âThe Residentâ on Fox. Currently filming a second season (as in October 1st, 2018)
9. Yes Crazy Carrie was also the Stars Hollow High teacher (by a different name) in the pilot. Same actress that plays crazy Carrie but different name of character
10. No, nobody knows if the show will ever come back (as far as itâs been told everything points to a NO). The Palladinos donât double book, they are happy doing Mrs Maisel and they devote themselves to one show at the time. The last interview they gave on the subject was to Michael Ausiello in the podcast you can hear in the links. 1. A direct link to the article from November 2017 but is important to listen to the podcast http://tvline.com/2017/11/27/amy-sherman-palladino-podcast-interview-gilmore-girls-mrs-maisel/ 2. This is a link directly to the podcast that opens right up and they say "it would have to be the right time , we don't know but we're open. We said no before and ended up doing more that's why we're open now but it would have to be in a different format", Daniel doesn't repeat the would have to because he already said it right before in the same sentence. Basically is nothing we didn't know. However is a very interesting podcast http://hwcdn.libsyn.com/p/b/8/1/b810a8eea76b5eb5/Amy_and_Dan.mp3?c_id=17932724&expiration=1526427435&hwt=95629606ee9caf86bc57bb8d2d70cf6a. Amy and Dan Palladino show creators and writers and producers, these are the people who made this universe, these are the people who the show belongs to, this is THEIR baby and they made a damn good one.
11. No, Lauren Graham did not have cancer and write a book about it. (different person, same name).
12. No, Lauren and Scott didn't hate each other's guts they just weren't BFFs. They have both said this endlessly, they have respect for each other. Scott had a crush on Lauren when he begun the show. But from what has been told and learned about Scott, it seems he doesnât like to get along with the rest of the cast unless is for his personal gain.
13. NO Rory is not a surrogate. They never even discussed the surrogacy Lorelai with Rory neither did Paris with Rory and Gilmore Girls is a light dramedy not a soap opera it doesnât have sudden hidden scenes that come to change the show completely, other shows, soap operas could do that, Gilmore Girls DOES NOT. She is NOT pregnant of the Wookie. She never slept with Paul (the actor even said it wasnât Paulâs) Milo said Jess is not the father and doesnât romantically love Rory anymore. Only Alexis and Matt were told who the father of the baby is. The Palladinos have said clearly that the father of Roryâs baby was never meant to be a mystery. The only person that fits is Logan. The only actors they have told are Alexis and Matt and told them they could do what they wanted with the information but they have chosen not to say anything because is Amyâs story. And the Palladinos have said IT IS THE OBVIOUS CHOICE. So, Logan is the father, is no cliffhanger is open ending. Yes it would be lovely to see more of them but the Palladinos donât have the style of wrapping up things in a big pink bow.
14. Ace is Loganâs term of endearment for Rory, it shows respect and admiration, it comes from what they used to call top reporters in the 50âs movies, he first calls her that in a IM conversation at the Yale daily news in the episode season 5 episode 6 of Norman Mailer, Iâm pregnant!. Not in the poker game, not in the LDB first gathering. Is a term of respect for her abilities investigating the Life and Death Brigade.
15. The love rocket. Rory understood the meaning because it was the same model, came from an episode of the Twilight zone that was Loganâs favorite. It didnât need confirmation from Logan because Rory had already said she understood it and she explained it to Lorelai in the same episode: âWhen Logan and I were first going out, we were in the pool house one night really late, and we were falling asleep on the couch. And this episode of "the twilight zone" came on -- "the long morrow." There's this astronaut who was supposed to go into space for 40 years, but right before he left, he met this beautiful woman. But for those 40 years that he was going to be in space, he was going to be in suspended animation. So when he came back to earth, he was going to be really young, but she would be really old. So he goes into space, and when he does come back, the woman is still young and beautiful because she put herself in suspended animation to wait for him, but he's really, really old because he took himself out of suspended animation so he could be old with her. He spent 40 years alone in space just waiting to see her, and he was willing to come back as an 80-year-old man, giving up almost his entire life just to spend those last few years with her. The point is, that this is Logan's favorite episode of "the twilight zone." And when we watched it together, he said, "that's true love." That's true love! This is the most romantic gift I've ever been given.â.
16. Chris wasnât at Roryâs high school graduation. He was however at her college graduation. The reason they give is he had to work. Probably the actor who was a guest star was doing another project and couldnât be in the episode or they just didnât want to write him in so they could develop more the arc between Lorelai and Luke.
17. June 3rd is the date of Roryâs court date AND the date chosen by Lorelai for hers and Lukeâs wedding in the original show. Is the same date different year, coincidence as Lorelai herself says the date happened to happen. Thereâs a theory that is ASPâs best friend Helen Paiâs birthday. Since it was in an old interview we havenât found the confirmation of it yet becaue thereâs no data (at least on the searches weâve done so far by various people) on Helen Paiâs date of birth.
18. Laneâs story is loosely based on Helen Paiâs, executive producer of the show and Amy Sherman Palladinoâs best friend. HEP ALIEN is an anagram of her name (Paiâs name). Helen Paiâs husband is real life Dave Rygalski which was the character of Dave initially based on until the actor had to leave for a better offer.
19. The real life Dave Rygalski shows up in the troubadourâs âattackâ episode, he was with Daniel Palladino who was singing a beaver ate my thumb Dan is singing and Dave is playing the bass. Daniel Palladino is also the town loner, the one who protests at the church and appears briefly in the pilot episode leaving Lukeâs. In total Dan Palladino shows up three times in the show
20. Keiko Agena and Emily Kuroda are Japanese American thatâs why when they speak korean in very few moments in the show is very difficult to understand for people who do understand korean. Also Mrs Kimâs real name, at least Koreanâs name is Jong Ya. Laneâs is Hyun Kyung, without last names, which come first in Korean Culture so Lane would be Kim Hyun Kyung, Mrs Kim however would not be Kim as last name, thatâs a westerner tradition, in Korea women donât change their last name when they marry and they are referred as Madam, Auntie, or as mother of such (name of youngest child) depending on level of familiarity. Thereâs never a mention of Mrs Kimâs âwesternerâ first name.
21. Thereâs also no idea of what Laneâs father does or where he is during the original show. Amy Sherman Palladino show creator said she never saw the need to create or cast a Mr Kim because it was more to focus in the mother and daughter dinamics. No is not the unnamed Asian waiter at Lukeâs. Mr Kim appears in the revival for a brief moment, never before. Thereâs a fan theory going around that he was never there because he had to constantly be traveling to supply antiques for the store. Lane mentions âmy parentsâ, âmy mother and fatherâ in a handful of ocassions through the show. He WAS NOT the unnamed Asian waiter that is always at the background at Lukeâs. The Palladinos had never made anyone pass for Mr Kim not even as the back of a head until the revival as a way of fan service and as a joke like saying âoh look, so maybe he had been there the entire timeâ.
22. The translation of the korean wedding ceremony is here: https://missallycat.tumblr.com/post/173812878159/i-got-a-sidekick-out-of-you (is a tumblr post) complete with before and after.
23. What does Laneâs grandmother say when she arrives at the house before the wedding? Grandma takes her coat and she sees Lane, she calls out her name Hyun Kyung-a (the a is an added sound they use for familiarity when they call someone's name) and tells her to come down. After Lane comes down she pats her in the cheek and says Lane is "oh so pretty!". Lane replies, "welcome, grandmother, I am very happy you came." The grandmother then says, "it's good to have come / I'm glad I came." She then talks to Mrs Kim (Yong Ja-ya Jong Ya is the name the ya the added familiarity informal sound), asking why is that Budha statue here in the room?. Mrs Kim says I was going to move it, mother (formal). Grandma walks through the house she's saying, "ugh, it's so dirty and stuffy in here - open a door." Then Mrs Kim says something that sounds sort of like, "rest first, please." When the camera cuts to Lane and Rory giving each other 'the look,' Grammy Kim is saying, "hey, why didn't you come out to the airport?" Mrs Kim maybe replies, "you said yesterday... that I shouldn't..." (and the sentence doesn't finish). Grammy Kim then says, "the atmosphere/karma is bad [in here]. It needs to be changed. Let's bow 108 times."
24. The episode of Jess in California âHere comes the sonâ WAS the backdoor pilot episode of what was going to be made into a spin off. But it wasnât deemed interesting enough by the network to justify the expenses of shooting in the actual locations so it didnât happen.
25. Miss Celine and Drella the harpist are the same actress. Alex Borstein. She was going to be Sookie, she was in the unaired pilot but due to conflicts with her other show she couldnât be so she came later as other characters. She was also the voice in Dwightâs answering machine (especially my trivial pursuit!) and the womanâs voice in the museum. Jackson was married to her but they are divorced know.
26. Paris (Liza Weill) initially auditioned for the role of Rory, she didnât get it but they liked her so much they created Paris for her.
27. Luke was initially going to be a woman but they figured the show needed more testosterone so they casted Scott. This has been the first and only major role Scott Patterson has had in his entire âcareerâ as an actor, the one that led him to get a few more minor roles, rumor has it, heâs very difficult to work with and not talented enought to be worth the pain. He milks Gilmore Girls every chance he gets.
28. Sookie was going to be gay but the network put a stop to that, they didnât want any openly gay characters in the show. The Palladinos were new at this so they accepted the networkâs conditions. Is probably why Michel was always put as bicurious or closeted gay man during the original show and was only fully out in the revival as an obvious thing that needed no explanation or backstory because everyone always assumed Michel was gay.
29. Kirk (Sean Gunn) was initially just an appearance, Mick in the pilot episode, then swan guy, then Kirk new manager at Dooseâs new in town who didnât know Miss Patty or anyone and then became the Kirk Gleason we know and love. Sean Gunn was initially an extra but they loved him so much they created Kirk Gleason as permanent character for him.
30. Gypsy and Berta, the maid in AYITL are both played by the extremely talented, Rose Abdoo. She was hilarious in a reading when they hadnât casted anyone yet so she was given the part. Her language is âberta-eseâ lol She speaks mostly Spanish, a couple of words could be Brazilian portuguese (maybe?), is mostly nonsensical Spanish words in the kind of Spanish that wouldnât make a sentence with any meaning or sense and Rose Abdoo said she had changed a few vowels of the words to make it more confusing.G
31. The unkown town elder (towel guy) is played by William Morgan Sheppard. He was never in the show before or after.
32. None of the elders were the same actors or characters of Richardâs two friends in the golf outing with Rory. But one of those friends was the reverend that buries gran, and in the revival is Charlie of the gazette.
33. Roryâs resident advisor Tess the girl who hands her the keys on her first day of Yale (SE04 EP2 âThe Lorelais first day at Yaleâ) is a different actress than Sandee from Sandee says in AYTIL (a year in the life, netflix GG revival) Tess name is Joy Darash http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1384632/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t17 Sandee is Julia Goldani Telles http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5065920/?ref_=tt_cl_t3 (if you ever saw ASPâs show bunheads thatâs Sasha)
34. When they take the roadtrip to Harvard. The picture of the girl Lorelai stares at when sheâs in the hallway is a stranger it has to do with the year not the girl herself. That's the year she would have graduated if she went to an Ivy league college as it was planned. It was sort of a âwhat ifâ moment.
35. Emily Gilmore didnât go to Yale she went to Smith to study History. Women werenât admitted in Yale at the time Richard and Emily went to college but it was usual that girls colleges and guys colleges would have parties together and visited each other when there were couples. First mention of Emily attending Smith was in season 5. How many kropogs to cape cod. Richard jokes how Emily got kicked out of the womenâs softball team for elbowing another girl. In season 7 Iâm a kayak hear me roar, Emily says she went to Smith and majored in History.
36. They talk about Richardâs mother in the first season in past tense but later on Trix appears. It was an error of the first season when things werenât that defined.
37. Alexis Bledel and Milo Ventimiglia did date in real life, apparently it ended really badly. She also dated Jared Padalecki. She didnât date Matt Czuchry at least not that is known but both are extremely private people, however they are good friends and trust each other a lot from every interview they have given and enjoy working together. Sheâs now happily married to her Mad Men costar Vincent Kartheiser and they have a beautiful boy together.
38. Lukeâs diner has the sign of Williamâs hardware store and not Danesâ because as a fandom we assume William was his dadâs first name. Youâll see changes in the diner all through the show. However Lukeâs parents names are never mentioned ever during the show. The pilot episode was filmed in Unionville Ontario in a building that was formerly Williams hardware. For continuity when they moved to the studio lot at Warner Brothers the name was kept. I don't remember them ever explaining the name on the series other than the hardware store belonged to Lukes father
39. Lorelaiâs doll house is NOT the same dollhouse on friends but it is the dollhouse they show on sale at Kimâs antiques, in one episode where Lane is going to talk to her mom about the band and Mrs Kim cracks the joke âbut is past their bedtimeâ.
40. Yes Gil from Hep Alien is Sebastian Bach from Skid Row.
41. Yes the âhug-a-worldâ that was in the garage in season 4 is on their couch in season 1! (Same as the scary clown pillow is in a number of seasons lying around lol)
42. Alexis Bledel is actually a Latina. She was born and raised in the US but grew in a Spanish speaking, latino, household, her father and paternal grandfather are Argentinian, her mother, like herself was born in the US, but Alexisâ mother grew up in Mexico. Alexis didnât learn English until she started school. The episode where Rory speaks Spanish with Esperanza (Season 6 episode 2: âFight faceâ) she anglicized her native Spanish BECAUSE Rory didnât know much Spanish. Thereâs an old interview with Ellen Degeneres on set while filming season 6 or 7 that sheâs asked to translate for Lauren, she doesnât translate everything due to nervousness. (It also happens when you live your adult life in a country that doesnât speak your first language, growing up bilingual, you tend to adopt the accent of the language you use most and tend to confuse some words when you donât use your native language often).
43. People praised the chemistry and physical closeness between Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, but there is actually a very logical reason for this: Alexis was a model and was just starting out acting and had a tougher time making her marks, so as veteran, Lauren often physically moved Alexis to make sure she was in the right place. Lauren told âThe Today Showâ in 2015: "The camerawork on that show is very specific and we really had to hit certain marks, which especially when you start out, is just a foreign concept...I remember a lot of times just kind of grabbing her, just kind of leading her arm. So, in the beginning, people are like, 'You have such great chemistry.' And I'm like, 'I'm mauling her. That's why.'"

The 100 Best Things in Comedy We Were Witness to In No Particular Order of 2019
OK, 2019â˛s officially over and weâve wrangled our 100 truly favorite things in and around comedy (and it really spans all of comedy) that are not ranked whatsoever. Itâs just like the title says and, itâs, as it is every year, quite long, so we wonât waste any more time with this intro.Â
Oh, in case you forgot and/or curious and/or need a quick refresher, hereâs our 2018 list.Â
1. Rory Scovel Live Without Fear-This documentary follows Rory Scovel and his journey through six nights of completely improvised hour sets. In a single word, itâs inspiring. You see the way Scovel truly connects the audience and keeps it that way through his indelible charm and endless curiosity. The near unbelievable story of the Relapse Theater in Atlanta is also beautifully threaded in the doc as well. The clips of the improvised performances capture the magic that stand-up comedy can be thatâs absent from the majority of comedy specials. You should be required to see this whenever and wherever it comes if you have any level of interest in comedy at all.Â
2. Naomi Ekperigin-From her own stand-up, to her podcast with husband Andy Beckerman, Couples Therapy, and her writing across TV, and everything else she does, Naomi is such an thoroughly commanding, yet delightful presence that we love seeing every time anywhere (and she should already be way bigger of a star already).
3. Cait Raftâs Presentation on âBradley Cooperâs a Star Is Born Takes Place in an Alternate Reality Where 9/11 Never Happenedâ-Witnessing the imagination of Cait Raft up close was a privilege for us. This amazing dissection of the zeitgeist left us in stitches and with our mouth agape for how thoroughly it proved its point.
4. Corporate Season 2-The second season of the ultra dark workplace comedy delivered once again on its hysterical nihilistic satire thatâs so prescient, yet still so unbelievably funny.
5. Mom-Prov Presents Family Therapy-Improviser Izzy Roland was daring enough to have her mom and her grandmother, both of whom are also in showbiz, to join her on stage for one of the most madcap, fourth wall-breaking, entertaining improv shows weâve seen all throughout 2019.
6. Jena Friedman-So, this year, Jena delivered yet again with her subtle delivery and calm demeanor that hides her absolutely killer jokes. The follow-up to her Adult Swim special, Soft Focus, upped the ante with an interview of a gun-toting John McAffee and her brilliant Conan set about everyoneâs true crime obsession.
7. Brendon Walshâs Afternoon Delight-This last year, Brendon Walsh let everyone know that he was and still is one of the best at pulling prank calls, which is so much harder now than it was even ten years ago. This live show actually has Brendon place live prank calls in between stand-ups and the ride you go on is absolutely thrilling.
8. Jacqueline Novakâs Get on Your Knees-Novakâs solo show has more than earned its spot as an Off-Broadway show with bringing such an exquisite, almost never before seen comedic sensibility to the topic of blow jobs.
9. #F*ckF*ckJerry-Props to Vulture Senior Editor Megh Wright for sparking the fire to take out the egregious social media accounts of F*ck Jerry that just lifted jokes from comedians all across the Internet without pay or attribution.
10. Lorelei Ramirez-Weâve known distantly about Lorelei Ramirez for so many years, but seeing them up close was a breathtaking experience that had us laughing so hard. Their artistry in comedy that gracefully borders on performance art and even horror is absolutely inspiring.
11. Aaron Urist-Denverâs Aaron Urist is such a killer joke writer and joke teller and has been for years. We just were reminded about that with his burning bush joke during his latest LA trip.
12. Booksmart-Olivia Wildeâs directorial debut was not only a reinvigorated take on movies that specifically hone in on the end of high school, but also had a sincerely hopeful vision of the future generation. We hope that Booksmart finds its way to the top of the coming-of-age comedy films pantheon.
13. Rachel Mac on Lights Out-One of the highlights of Lights Out with David Spade is how unfiltered and raunchy they let comics get during their sets on the show. Rachel Mac took that amount of comedic license and thrived in getting into the nitty gritty about her last teaching job.
14. What We Do In The Shadows-The FX TV adaptation of the seminal Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement film in 2014 exceedingly succeeds in nailing the comedy of minutia in the world of the undead that also happens to be in a (somewhat) grounded reality.
15. PEN15-Maya Erskine and Anna Konkleâs vision of 2000 and their performances as teens were so spot on that PEN15 would deserve acclaim just for that. However, the heart of this show made its humor stand out in an ever crowded field of coming-of-age comedy.
16. Tiffany Haddishâs Black Mitzvah-A lot has happened for Tiffany Haddish since her last special (sheâs a legit A-list celebrity now), but itâs clear that she is still her unapologetically positively, life loving self. This special is evidence of that, especially with her bit about her New Yearâs show that she got undeserved flack for.
17. Straw Men-Lindsay Adams, Danny Palumbo, and Sam Wiles (and producer Kimmie Lucas) put on what is our favorite imagining of a comedic debate that weâve seen thus far. The encouragement to make the most ridiculous, baseless arguments and being transparent about the whole thing is a golden goose of comedy.
18. The ending of Gloria Bell-Well, we canât very well give away the ending to this English language dramedy remake from SebastiĂĄn Lelio that has Julianne Moore shine as bright as she has ever shone before, but just know that we stood out of our seats, applauding what she did to John Turturro right at the end.
19. I Think You Should Leave-Tim Robinsonâs unflinchingly absurd sketch series unequivocally has many of the best sketches of 2019. The hot dog costume and Mexican restaurant sketches will have us busting up through, very likely, the next decade.
20. Les Miz and Friends-Bonkers (and we mean that in the best way possible) doesnât begin to describe how wild this meta and great this puppet and human hybrid take on the theater institution of Les Miserables. The sheer cleverness on every level is awe-inspiring.Â
21. Dave Rossâ The Only Man Who Has Ever Had Sex-Ross has been a longtime favorite of ours for the contrasting bounciness and darkness of his comedy. His debut album captures this dichotomy perfectly.
22. Nikki Glaser: Banginâ-Nikki Glaserâs first Netflix hour special started off with a bang, pun intended. Her frank, but heartfelt exploration of all facets of sex is so damn funny that Glaser gets away with being as blue as she wants. Â
23. Super Dating Simulator-This live, interactive version of various Japanese video game dating simulators is one of the more innovative and surprisingly charming things we saw this year. Creator Sam Weller did a bang-up job not only making a video game work as a stage show, but doing so with a very off-beat sub-genre of video games
24. Emmy Blotnickâs Party Nights-Blotnickâs latest album shows Emmy at the peak of her delightful observational powers. The concept of a âSelf-Potatoâ is just priceless.
25. Tammercise!-Folks in comedy are getting all sorts of clever these days to redefine traditional formats and disciplines and push the art form forward. Madeline Wager does this exquisitely with a solo show of a woman unraveling that doubles as legit aerobics class.
26. The Cherry Orchard w/Chad Damiani and Jet Eveleth-Damiani and Eveleth explore a new angle on postmodern clowning by supposedly doing a Chekov play going through dress rehearsal without any of the players knowing what theyâre supposed to do. The back and forth between the live direction and the tomfoolery on stage is truly hysterical.
27. Bake Stuff with Lindsay LIVE-Itâs about time for a comedic cooking show that actually does teach you a wonderful recipe and also explores and resolves(?) childhood trauma. Lindsay Adamsâ Bake Stuff with Lindsay, which we indeed saw live, accomplishes all of that and inspires all those watching to cook through their feelings.
28. Shalewa Sharpeâs So, You Just Out Here?-Shalewa imbues homespun wisdom with marvelously colorful descriptions all throughout this very satisfying album.
29. The Amazing Johnathan Documentary from Ben Berman-The Amazing Johnathanâs life story is pretty captivating as is. The story about Ben Berman trying to tell his story amidst several other people trying to tell his story is absolutely engrossing and is somehow all true.
30. Julio Torresâ HBO special âMy Favorite Shapesâ-Torresâ special is simultaneously one of the most daring and silly hour specials in recent memory and his elevation of prop comedy to a whole new level is to be commended.
31. The Underculture with James Adomian-James Adomian has been one of comedy podcastsâ most in-demand and bright shining stars. It comes as no surprise that his own podcast that revs up all his characters has some of the best, most dynamic, absurdist interviews in political and pop culture satire.Â
32. Daniel Van Kirkâs Thanks Diane/Together Tour-Van Kirkâs first, complete hour that he both toured with and released as an album is so impressive with how deftly Dan manages a balance of sincerity and mischief from wire-to-wire.
33. Conan in Greenland-Conan marvelously turns his travel specials series Conan Without Borders on its head by attempting to buy Greenland based off of Trumpâs stupid tweets.
34. Mary Beth Baroneâs Drag His Ass: A F*ckboy Treatment Program-Mary Beth Baroneâs live show exploration into her dating life is illuminating and hilarious throughout, but the actual interview that she does live with a âf*ckboyâ is transcendent.
35. Obvious Plantâs Carnival of Toys-Jeff Wysaski AKA Obvious Plant really outdid himself this year in his quest to permeate everyday reality with a satirical twist. He not only made a whole line of custom toy figures that satirize pop culture on so many levels, but opened up a whole pop-up museum for several days to exhibit them in all of their bizarre glory.
36. Sports Without Equipment with Coach Keith Alejo-This Dress Up Gang sketch is one of those ideas that are simple, yet so out-of-left-field. Literally, they take sports without equipment to its funniest conclusion.
37. #Squatmelt-Howard Kremerâs desire to keep the spirit of The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail alive has evolved into its own very special thing in the form of a DIY stand-up comedy show/walking tour that periodically migrates around LA.
38. Catch-22-Trying to adapt such a monumental literary work like Catch-22 is almost a foolâs errand, but writers Luke Davies and David MichĂ´d do a smash-up job for not only bringing Hellerâs immortal words to life, but also sticking the landing for all the darkly absurdly comical moments that run rampant throughout the story.
39. Get Rich Nick-Even if they didnât have the fantastic banter, riffs, and asides from the very funny duo of Nick Turner and Nick Vatterott, this podcast that explores how to make money real quick is one of the best new podcasts of the whole year. Fortunately, Nick and Nickâs humor runs rampant through every episode and makes Get Rich Nick engrossing and makes you actually laugh out loud.
40. MK Paulsen-The comedy of MK Paulsen can be faster than a bullet, but as satisfyingly silly as a gun that shoots a flag with the word âbangâ on it. Every time we see him do stand-up, itâs a fun, rollicking ride thatâs equal parts offbeat whimsy, clever wordplay, and an agile sense of timing and play.
41. Father Figurine by Matt Kazman-The dour faces of the family in this dark comedy short play to the highest comedic effect perfectly. A dead patriarch and an apathetic family make for some of the best dry humor in 2019.
42. Funk Shuffle-Danny Cymbal, Dennis Curlett, and Michael Gardner comprise Funk Shuffle, an improv group that manages fly freer and more untethered than almost any other improv group that weâve ever seen. They make their defiance and experimentation with improv forms really work due to the trioâs unflinchingly playful spirit.
43. Gary Gulmanâs The Great Depresh-Gulman, as one of comedyâs premier craftsman, of course, delivers an hour of stellar comedy with this special. He also manages, this time around, to destigmatize depression and, in general, be hopeful. That particular comedy trifecta is such an impressive feat that very few can accomplish.
44. Greener Grass-The scope and ambition of Jocelyn DeBoer and Dawn Luebbeâs directorial debut hints at some really special things to come from them in the future. Their absolutely demented, pastel drenched absurdist vision was a shocking delight through and through.
45. Jenny Slateâs Stage Fright-Slateâs best comedic strength is her unshakeable vulnerability. This hour special lets Jenny present that trait as intimately as she has ever presented it and gives an in-depth look as to where that hilarious vulnerability comes from.Â
46. Heather Anne Campbell swatting a baby out of someoneâs hands in an improv scene-At this point, it should come as no surprise that Heather Anne Campbell is one of our absolute all-time favorite people in comedy and thus, she kind of just ends up making it on this list annually on her own someway, somehow. This year, during a performance of her improv group, Heather and Company, we laughed as hard as weâve ever laughed at Drew DiFonzo Marks initiating a scene by rocking a baby back and forth and then, Heather insanely swatted it out of his hands and stomped on it. It sounds ludicrous, but trust that Heather made that so unbelievably funny.Â
47. Adam Cayton-Hollandâs Happy Place-Cayton-Hollandâs live solo show based on his critically acclaimed book of the same name pulls off oscillating between cleverly wrought and self-aware comedy and some of the most heartbreaking stories youâll ever hear about his late sister. Hollandâs focus and calm make it all miraculously blend together.
48. The Authorized Unauthorized My Favorite Murder Musical-In the world of unauthorized musicals about things that you wouldnât really think about being adapted into unauthorized musicals (itâs a bigger ever-burgeoning world every month it seems), the staged reading of this My Favorite Murder-inspired musical that we saw was phenomenal. The full stage production to come in 2020 will undoubtedly be something really great.Â
49. Pedro Gonzalez-Pedroâs jokes are so expertly written and crafted that you forget that he immigrated to America as a teenager from Colombia and learned English as a second language.
50. Garry Starr Performs Everything-UK comedian Garry Starrâs solo show is a genius send-up and celebration of theater as a whole. The physicality and the sheer madness of the whole show are so thoroughly hysterical.
51. Kira Soltanovich-We just want to take a moment to appreciate the agility of the comedy of Kira Soltanovich. Not only does Kira play any room or any show as far as weâve seen, but her drive is just unstoppable (see ep. of The Honey Dew).
52. Mike Birbigliaâs The New One-Though it seems almost too routine that Birbiglia comes out with a new hour special that garners tons of acclaim for its ornate and complex and, ultimately, very satisfying tapestry of stories, Birbiglia delivers exactly once again with one such solo show/special on fatherhood.
53. Michelle Buteau-We saw Michelle headline just a few months ago at Dynasty Typewriter and were reminded of just how good Buteau is. She combines being heartfelt, having a fun bit of attitude, and an absolute command of the stage in such a beautiful way.
54. Gareth Reynoldsâ Riddled with Disease-Many folks know how great Gareth is from his madcap riffing on The Dollop, but Reynolds shows he is fantastic with a sharp, hilarious, yet still fast-and-loose-feeling hour.
55. Sara Schaeferâs LIVE LAUGH LOVE-Sara, above most folks working in comedy today, goes to great lengths to be considerate, inclusive, and vulnerable in her comedy and itâs so, so wonderful because of that. This album is yet another great example of that mix.
56. Sean Pattonâs Scuttlebutt-Sean Pattonâs latest album is a fantastic note to any and all that Sean is, hands down, one of the best comedians ever to spin a yarn (and also share some damn fine true stories) and deserves way more accolade and attention for that now and going forward.Â
57. Matt Rogersâ Have You Heard of Christmas?-Rogers had quite a 2019 in putting culture on notice, but his queer and subversive holiday musical extravaganza might be one of the best pieces of holiday themed comedy of all time.
58. The Chris Gethard Show with Robby Hoffman-Not only does Robby Hoffman keep the punk rock, conventions-be-damned spirit of TCGS alive, but she makes it so much her own and lets her hilarious, domineering persona transform the show into another very special, unique round of controlled chaos.
59. The taping of Eddie Pepitoneâs latest special-Eddieâs sound and fury and his irreverent stream-of-consciousness-seeming comedy were flawless in this latest hour. Everyone in attendance, including ourselves, were in stitches for the whole taping. Props to director Steven Feinartz for one of our favorite looks of a special that we saw last year (which youâll all get to see soon in 2020).
60. Eric Dadourianâs closer on Nebraska 2-Dadourian is always all in for the sake of a real bold, imaginative bit and, as such, pulled off one of our favorite closers of the year on his very first full length album.
61. Jessica Kirson: Talking to Myself-Kirsonâs hour special on Comedy Central really let Jessica cut loose and let her showcase her stand-up expertise. From the way that Kirson contorts her face to her deep well of voices/characters to razor-sharp quick wit to, of course, her signature asides to herself, Jessica really kills it in this hour.Â
62. Brody Stevens-Long live the âjock doing performance artâ comedy (one of our favorite descriptions of Brodyâs comedy by his dear friend Zach Galifianakis) and may he rest in peace. Yeeeees! Enjoy It!
63. Byron Bowers on Colbert-Byron Bowers and his clever, yet sincere, dark, vulnerable comedy put up one of our favorite late night sets this year. From the opening to his frank jokes about his dad make us think that itâs just a little crazy that this is his network TV debut.
64. Desus and Mero on Showtime-With the upgrade of being on Showtime, Desus Nice and The Kid Mero are having the most fun in late night with the freshest voices and format (and theyâre able to pull that off with only being twice a week).
65. Fleabag Season 2-creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge assuredly has more masterpieces ahead of her, but managing to top herself from one masterpiece season of dark romantic dramedy with another one is something that deserves all the accolades and awards that it has gotten.
66. Kenny DeForest on Corden-Kenny dismantles toxic masculinity so incisively through the whole set that he most certainly earns all the applause breaks he gets the whole way through.
67. Josh Gondelmanâs Dancing on a Weeknight-Gondelman is often thought of as one of the best, sweetest people in comedy. This latest album, for all of its being clever and genuine, is proof that he indeed really is that sweet and funny.
68. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 3-The perennial prestige comedy from Amy Sherman-Palladino earns its keep by having some of the best writing (itâs almost impossible to write jokes that are contextualized for the 50s/60s and make them actually funny for 2019 audiences) and also being one of the most gorgeous looking shows in all of television.
69. Nick Ciarelli and Brad Evans-Whether it be pulling pranks on Twitter, their plethora of hysterical sketches doing an impression of Jack FM on shows around town, or their monthly live sketch character showcase Atlantic City, Nick and Brad are a damn fine comedy duo and have been for quite some time.Â
70. Caitlin Gillâs Major-Itâs quite the magic trick to make an hour of comedy thatâs entirely clean and have it being clean not be a thought that youâre thinking about at all when listening or watching it. Caitlin Gill spectacularly does just that with this album as Gill can make all of her earnest rants, imagery, and observations work in any way that she needs to. Â
71. 97.9 The Rat Race-Ben Royâs satirical reimagining of a morning radio âzoo crewâ is so spot on, then gets real twisted to make this one of the most surprising and rewarding podcasts of 2019.
72. Mike Laneâs Picture Frames-This short film from Lane heightens the idea of remembering those you love after theyâve left this mortal coil to such a ridiculous level every step of the way (and is more and more enjoyably unpredictable the further it goes).
73. Paige Weldon on Corden-Paigeâs upbeat self-deprecation is just hard to resist and it makes the best impression in this late night set on The Late Late Show with James Corden.
74. The Righteous Gemstones-Danny McBrideâs latest HBO series that darkly and comically dissects the South might be his most ambitious yet, but, of course, he nails it. The constant suspense perpetuated by hysterically tragic characters in the world of televangelists is profound.
75. My Friend Chuck-Comedic erotica author Chuck Tingle (one of the absolutely most unique voices and cadences weâve heard in awhile) and friend McKenzie Goodwin celebrate their friendship every week for a podcast thatâs preposterously funny and, also, more heartwarming than almost anything weâve heard or seen.Â
76. Joey Cliftâs Telling People Youâre Native American When Youâre Not Native Is a Lot Like Telling a Bear Youâre a Bear When Youâre Not a Bear-Clift makes such biting, pun intended, commentary with this short film/PSA that is also so playful that the message about Native identity will undoubtedly stick with you.
77. Megan Gaileyâs My Dad Paid For This-Gailey strikes a wonderful balance of charm and attitude and fervent desire to burn down the patriarchy. Such a mix accents her very delightful observations about herself and the world around her in this marvelous debut album.Â
78. Robin Higgins as Baby Yoda at Tournament of Nerds-Higgins might have made one of the best, first attempts at Baby Yoda cosplay. She also, for whatâs supposed to be a roast-style competition between fictional/pop culture characters, perfectly imagined how Baby Yoda would roast someone while maintaining Baby Yodaâs sweetness that has captured the hearts and minds of the Internet.
79. The Man Who Killed Don Quixote-Terry Gilliam went through hell, did a few laps, and came back over several years to get this meta-quixotic tale about reimagining the legendary novel Don Quixote made. The finished film, for us, was worth the wait.Â
80. Jo Firestone on The Tonight Show-Joâs sense of play is so pure and present that itâs kind of irresistible. Combined with a perfect amount of self-deprecation, Jo really delivered a terrific set weâll probably never get tired of.
81. Paul Rudd continues his time honored tradition of playing that one clip of Mac & Me on Conan-Rudd evolves the arc of this long running bit on Conan where, instead of playing a clip of what heâs on Conan to promote, he plays the same exact clip of the universally panned alien comedy Mac & Me. We all know whatâs coming and yet, without the benefit of surprise, Ruddâs annoyance of Conan still keeps on being so damn funny.
82. Billy on the Street featuring Reese and Mariah-This year, we were lucky enough to get two instantly classic episodes of Billy on the Street with Reese Witherspoon and Mariah Carey that gave us our fix for our obsession with Billy Eichner yelling at strangers on the streets of NYC.
83. The Dollop England & UK-As Dave Anthony and Gareth Reynolds embarked on an entire England & UK tour of The Dollop, they thought it prudent to do a mini-series specific to Great Britain and did a smashing job making fun of British history. The Cyril the Swan episode is particularly brilliant.
84. Lost Moon Radio-The live musical sketch comedy theater troupe (Lost Moon Radio truly lives up to such a description) marked their 10th anniversary and put on an absolutely fantastic âSummer Block Partyâ this year that both showed that they still got their ingenious musical sketch comedy chops.Â
85. Nate Bargatzeâs The Tennessee Kid-The calm with which Bargatze pervades all of his comedy is part of what makes it beloved by nearly any and all that see or hear Bargatzeâs stand-up. Thatâs such the case now that Nate gives updates to stories from previous specials on this latest hour.Â
86. Beth Stelling on Kimmel-Every detail of this set on Jimmy Kimmel Live is pretty stellar. That includes Beth, in general, for her warm demeanor, smile, and cleverness, the Chippendaleâs story, Bethâs mom being there in the crowd, and, of course, the surprise guest at the end.Â
87. Liz Climoâs Please Donât Eat Me-This illustrated book is just the latest in a long line of uber-adorable and genuinely-funny-for-all-ages books from Climo. Liz seems to have quite the knack for making unlikely animal friendship jokes.Â
88. John Hodgmanâs Medallion Status-Hodgmanâs journey through the various statuses of airline privilege/celebrity is a superb serving of existential humor, done up with Hodgmanâs painstaking attention to the exactly right details.Â
89. Jane Curtinâs 2019 New Yearâs Resolution âMy New Yearâs Resolution Is To Make Sure The Republican Party Diesâ-Said during a CNN interview with the SNL alum, this was the first thing to make us heartily laugh in 2019.
90. Alex Kavutskiyâs Squirrel-Kavutskiyâs short film dives into the concept of forgiveness unlike weâve really seen and, as is Kavutskiyâs style, is so darkly spellbinding and so pointedly funny at the same time.
91. Astronomy Club: The Sketch Show-The long running comedy troupe known as Astronomy Club really ran with their chance to do a full-fledged sketch series on Netflix. Theyâre so endlessly clever on in their sketches, especially when it comes to the subjects of identity and oppression, and pack in so many jokes and sight gags that youâll definitely want to watch it more than once so you donât miss anything.
92. Dolemite Is My Name-Eddie Murphy seems poised to make a real return to comedy (and stand-up comedy in particular) and this marvelous biopic of comedian and blaxploitation star Rudy Ray Moore AKA Dolemite is the perfect way to start.
93. Anna Drezen on Corden-Drezen has such a perfect sense of farce and misdirection and puts on a beautiful display of those two things from start to finish in this set on The Late Late Show with James Corden.Â
94. BUTTâs Yoda themed dating app sketch-This sketch is so prescient of the resurgence of the worldâs current (baby) Yoda obsession. Also, while this is so absurd with its deep dive into various Yoda fan art and cosplay, Joe McAdam and Chris Stephensâ take on dating apps is so sharply and deeply funny.Â
95. Mel Brooks Unwrapped-The never ending bit of attempting a documentary between Mel Brooks and the BBCâs Alan Yentob is yet another display of the true, unquestionable genius of Mel Brooks.
96. 50 First Stephs-The amazing, hysterical Steph Tolev kicked off 2019 with a show where 50 or so of her compatriots and contemporaries did various impressions and characterizations of her. Part roast, part loving tribute, part amazing showcase of the depth of creativity in LA comedy, Tolevâs night for herself was something really special.
97. The Bongo Hour with Sandy Honig and Peter Smith-Honig and Smith brought their wild variety show that featured such wonderful bits, characters, drag, and burlesque to LA and showed, truly, how much better life is when youâre fluid about nearly everything.
98. How Did This Get Played?-Hosts Nick Wiger and Heather Anne Campbell and their take on the âworst and weirdestâ video games do their namesake, the beloved How Did This Get Made?, proud. Even if youâre not a gamer, the way they dissect the most bizarre video games ever made along with Heather and Nickâs chemistry is very, very enjoyable.
99. Joe Pera Talks With You Season 2-This second season of Joe Peraâs unique talk-to-the-viewer series is so calming that the comedic twists sneak up in the most delightful way possible. There is a certain beauty to Peraâs show that makes us want to have Joe Pera Talks With You playing on a loop in a contemporary art museum.
100. John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch-John Mulaney does âitâ, yet again. âItâ being releasing another hour of comedic brilliance thatâs so markedly different than whatever he did before, yet, somehow still stamped with an indelible mark of Mulaneyâs comedy of obtuse hyper-specificity.Â

LTC Core Wallet
What is Litecoin? litecoin qt version 0.13.2.1 being an open source, peer-to-peer cryptocurrency that allows fast and near-zero bills among anyone, anyplace in the world. It had been created in October 2012 by simply an ex-Google in addition to ex-Coinbase engineer, Charlie Lee, as an alternative to be able to Bitcoin. He wished to generate a cryptocurrency that would fix some of the troubles suffered by Bitcoin, some as business deal times, higher transaction costs, and gathered mining cartouche. They in addition wanted to make it possible for larger-scale adoption by folks plus businesses. Litecoin can be utilised simply by individuals to make acquisitions from the real world extra easily than more various other cryptocurrencies because it is usually supported by a growing variety of wallets and crypto debit cards. Litecoin possesses also designed progress in the merchant side like they have already been increasing their point-of-sale settlement entry and banking services to really make it simpler for merchants to help agree to Litecoin as a new type of payment. The Litecoin circle has decent application. An average of, Litecoin processes close to 20, 000 to 35, 000 on-chain orders some sort of day. The particular chart under shows the utilization regarding the Litecoin community regarding the past two many years: Litecoin vs Bitcoin Considering that Litecoin was developed getting Bitcoins code (it was basically a fork of this Bitcoin) with near-identical characteristics, challenging compared with Bitcoin. litecoin core version 0.16.0rc1 are highlighted below: Hashing protocol: Both Litecoin and Bitcoin use proof-of-work since their consensus algorithm, yet , Litecoin uses a different hashing algorithm scrypt instead of Secure Hash Protocol (SHA) 256. Scrypt is somewhat more memory-intensive than a good protocol that is not necessarily memory-hard. For the reason that processes are function throughout parallel with scrypt rather than serially with SHA-256, and as a good result, scrypt requires more memory. One particular of the great things about working with scrypt is having a network that is a lot more readily available and democratized. For you to be competitive, miners can acquire additional memory instead associated with possessing to buy specialized application-specific integrated brake lines (ASICs) like is the case having Bitcoin. This means the fact that in theory, regular men and women can become miners using Litecoin, whereas concentrated exploration pools / ASIC crops already dominate the Bitcoin mining. Transaction fees: Purchases on Litecoin are substantially cheaper than Bitcoin. By September 24, 2018, the typical transaction fee for Bitcoin was $0. 434 versus $0. 0483 for Litecoin, making Bitcoin 9 periods more costly. At the high on December 24, 2017, average daily Bitcoin purchase fees surpassed $55 although Litecoin fees ended up solely $0. 931. Full speed: Litecoin is designed for you to be 4x faster as compared to Bitcoin as average block out confirmation times are 2 . not 5 minutes, instead regarding 10 minutes. Present: Litecoin has a new total source of 84 million gold and silver coins, compared with 21 thousand coins for Bitcoin. Conclusion kitchen table comparing Bitcoin in addition to Litecoin: Key Features Proof-of-work: Litecoin uses proof-of-work, which usually is a consensus process that is dependent on a difficult computational task to be able to secure the network via malicious characters. Miners compete to solve the undertaking the quickest and are usually rewarded correctly. (For even more information, see each of our article What is Proof of Job? litecoin core version 0.15.1 ) Scrypt: While talked about above, Litecoin uses this scrypt hashing protocol. Segregated Witness (SegWit): SegWit elevated the block measurement control of Litecoin from one MEGABYTES to four MB by way of removing signature bank files (i. e. this segregated part) a business deal although guaranteeing the transaction will be still safe and protected (i. e. the witness part). SegWit allows for increased transaction output together with makes it possible for other features and software, such as the Lightning Network, MAST, Confidential Purchases, and Schnorr Validations, to be implemented. Key Milestones Litecoin is an open source project and even the source code can be looked at below: https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin Oct 2012: Litecoin was basically unveiled with GitHub and the networking goes live shortly following. Nov 2013: Litecoin attained an industry cap of $1 billion the first time. December 2013: Litecoin v0. 8. 6th. 1 was launched. April 2014: Often the beta of Electrum, a good Litecoin wallet, was released. 06 2015: Litecoin v0. ten. 2. 2 had been introduced and represented often the official relieve version of Litecoin Core. This seemed to be a significant launching, and even was the technical comparable regarding Bitcoin v0. twelve. second . Major changes consist of watch-only wallet support, quicker blockchain synchronization, improved deciding upon stability, new utility programs, and so forth January 2017: Litecoin Primary v0. 13. a couple of premiered, a major let go with a quantity of process level improvements, computer code optimizations, the ability to throw out a few soft forks at once, etc . This has been a new major variation discharge with new features, different bug fixes, and various effectiveness improvements (e. gary the gadget guy. faster sync and initial block download times). CLICK HERE TO HAVE THE FREE GUIDEBOOK > > Future Development Making use of the activation of SegWit, Charlie Lee got spoken about adding features such as Lightning Network, MAST, Private Deals, and Schnorr Signatures, nonetheless no roadmap offers been supplied yet. Inside fact, all the planned upgrades are features from the other blockchain and not unique to be able to Litecoin. Most connected with the upgrades are as developed on Bitcoin while well. In the 2018 Litecoin Summit, Charlie Even offers shown his metrics associated with success for Litecoin: (1) network security, (2) industry increased, (3) exchange fluid, (4) merchant support, plus (5) currency usage. For that reason, we believe the future trends will target improving these metrics. litecoin core version 0.13.2 possesses a block encourage of 20 LTC every block. Halving occurs each 840, 000 blocks (approximately each four years) based on a block time period of 2. 5 short minutes therefore, the block reward will be required to drop to 10. 5 various LTC in about September 2019. The going around source is at present 49, 544, 952 (as involving August 1, 2018); this specific shape will slowly boost towards the total supply regarding 84 thousand LTC at some time in the mid-2100s soon after which no new coins will be minted.
Team The particular Litecoin Foundation will be a non-profit organization that will supports the development of Litecoin. The idea is contains four men and women on the Plank involving Directors (see below) because well as additional owners, builders and volunteers. Often litecoin core version 0.16.1rc1 works together with the Litecoin Core growth team, which will consists of coders behind the Litecoin assignment, and provides them all economic support. The journal involving the key people driving Litecoin are made clear below: Charlie Lee, Founder involving Litecoin, and Handling Movie director of the Litecoin Basic foundation ~ He was in the past the Movie director of Architectural at Coinbase where he / she worked for four several years. Before that, he / she performed at Google with regard to 6th years as a good Computer software Engineer on many assignments including YouTube Mobile, Stainless- OS and Google Play Games. Prior positions include Person Software Engineer at Guidewire Software and Software Engineer at Kana Communications. They obtained his Masters qualification in Pc Science from M. My spouse and i. T. inside 2000. Xinxi Wang, Litecoin Foundation Director Xinyi Wang was one involving the Beginning Member of the Litecoin Groundwork and is one of the developers at the rear of Litecoin Central. He is likewise this Founder and BOSS regarding Coinut Exchange, the Singapore-based cryptocurrency trading platform that had been established in December 2013. He / she obtained his Bachelors level in Computer Scientific disciplines through the Harbin Institute connected with Technologies in 2009 in addition to his Ph. N. inside of Computer Science from the Country specific University of Singapore within 2014. Franklyn Richards, Litecoin Foundation Director ~ Franklyn Richards was among the Starting up Associates of the Litecoin Foundation and currently runs Litecoin. com. He will be the COO of Zulu Republic, a good blockchain start-up that should create a great ecosystem connected with digital tools built within the Ethereum blockchain. Zing Yang, Litecoin Groundwork Director Zest Dalam has been a good Movie director of the Litecoin Foundation since May 2018 and even was previously from BlockAsset Projects, a blockchain-focused VC business, from January to be able to May well 2018. Prior placements include Associate Overseer regarding Investments at Temasek and even Overseer and Co-Founder associated with Greenergy Global from Biomax Technological innovation. She provided the Bachelors degree in Organization Administration in the Singapore Management University within 2007. Investigation Strengths Community Acquiring started out in 2011, Litecoin is among the most well-known and quite a few mature blockchain jobs and possesses built the giant area. Looking from the particular number of members upon the respective subreddits, Litecoins community is only right behind Bitcoin and Ethereum. Litecoin can make good progress at terms of vendor usage with point of purchase, merchant payment gateways and even banking services by means of Coingate, Coinpayments, Coinify, Coinbase Marketing, Gocoin, Paybear, etc . Because of to it is similarity using Bitcoin with the primary signal being essentially often the same, Litecoin could probably piggyback from r & d innovations achieved by the Bitcoin community. Weaknesses Because this is a fork of Bitcoin, Litecoin does not necessarily experience unique and/or remarkable attributes compared to various other blockchains. Many consider Litecoin as a test out multilevel of Bitcoin plus for that reason, a lot of upgrades applying to Litecoin will likewise be implemented inside of Bitcoin as well (SegWit is surely an example). When this would put features to Litecoin that will that otherwise would not take pleasure in, it likewise makes the idea less likely to have superior attributes exclusive only to Litecoin, making that difficult to be able to standout. As a shop of value, Litecoin is catagorized guiding Bitcoin significantly throughout terms of business deal volume and brand recognition, without any major differentiating capabilities. As a medium involving exchange, Litecoin had the benefits against Bitcoin in the early years given it has faster confirmation moment, nonetheless the newer generation blockchains are even more rapidly. A benefit Litecoin has as opposed to the newer blockchains is in merchant re-homing. Level 2 solutions are produced which arguably is better regarding small orders as a consequence of level of privacy and speed. Lightning Networking system, which was launched previously in 2018, already has over 3, 600 nodes. Should it become profitable, paying using Litecoin will be even much less compelling. Litecoin is backed by the Litecoin Foundation which usually does certainly not have a lot of assets (see their best and newest economical statements: https://litecoin-foundation.org/2018/07/unaudited-financial-statements-2018-05. Conclusion All round Rating: B We have a new neutral view on Litecoin because although Litecoin loves a large community holding up the coin, there is usually no technical attributes exclusive to that. Along with firm coins and layer two solutions becoming more and more famous, Litecoins cost proposition as a sound moderate of change diminishes. In the event that Litecoin is successful in updating certain attributes, those functions will be duplicated to be able to Bitcoin soon, much like just how SegWit was performed. When the upgrade fails, then it would negatively impact typically the cryptocurrency. Thus, going forward, many of us consider Litecoin would certainly not include any significant unique advantage that could differentiate itself from all other cryptocurrencies.
