I like BJ quite a lot and his character development involving him becoming angrier as the show goes on I think it's a really interesting choice to take the one character we actually see BEFORE he witnesses the war and make his progression about becoming angrier and rebellious and even mean because to me BJ represents not only the way the war corrupts people and corrupts the ideal American nuclear family man, but also the really ugly side of being a victim where sometimes it's not nightmares and crying and sickness, sometimes it's just a lot of anger thrown everywhere and fucking up and hurting the people you love

all that said his character absolutely suffers for the fact that for some reason the narrative is allergic to portraying him as being in the wrong

#mash #bj hunnicutt #I watched Wheelers and Dealers yesterday and its a weird one for this #it's one of the few episodes where he's portrayed as clearly being in the wrong here #he's being an ass and he's called out on it #but even then he just. doesn't apologize #even as someone who loves BJ and appreciates his character progression it's so frustrating #he's almost never explicitly portrayed to be in the wrong even when he absolutely is #this is something that does not extend to other characters #even Potter who I think gets off very easy for when he's in the wrong #will be deliberately framed as being in the wrong #this does not happen for BJ and it's very weird #and very apparent as the show goes on #it's why I 100% get why people dont always like him #certified Beejboy over here because him as an angry victim speaks to me and is relatable in a way I dont get really anywhere else #but I think he should've gotten whacked over the head and told to cut it out sometimes #or better yet we should've had a BJ and Sidney episode #I keep talking about that maybe I should write it

Ember's Music Emporium

When he became King, Danny had not banned the ghosts from earth but asked them to be discreet, so instead of giving concerts that were extremely flashy, Ember decided to open a music store.

It was complicated to find a good location since she wanted to go far away from Amity, but she was aware that not all cities would accept strangers and it could be dangerous for her if they found out she was a ghost.

Money was not so difficult, Ember had collected several things during her unofficial concerts, among them: cash (besides, Danny was willing to sponsor her if that wasn't enough), and musical instruments were even easier to find as Skulker loved to build them and wanted to help her.

In the end, her little music store set up in Gotham (rusty laws, natural ecto, crazies everywhere and lots of people who looked extremely colorful, she assumed they would take her as one).

She and Skulker worked very hard at turning the dusty place they bought into something nice where everyone was welcome; they also made it a sort of temporary home, seeing as they couldn't go to the Infinite Realms every day.

And everything was a success until someone tried to attack their little business; naturally the ghosts protected it and very soon, a rare scarecrow was hit by one of Skulker's bombs.

It didn't cause much damage but it definitely drew attention. Many tried to attack after this and they kept responding (Skulker much more excited than she was about the whole thing).

But Ember was determined to not call Danny, she was sure they would get scolded about attacking people and not going unnoticed as they promised (although the rude people attacked them first and none of them were dead, or Danny would have come).

When some weird guys in bat costumes started trying to sneak into her humble music store (and they didn't even bother to pretend to be customers like the nice guy in the red helmet), she decided that maybe it was time to call the halfa. Things had gotten a little out of hand.

#dpxdc #Ember and Skulker opened a music store in Gotham #Ember loves music and thought the music store was the most obvious move from being a rock star #Skulker decided to help her immediately #he loves creating instruments for her and this is not different #they opened the store in Gotham and it did quite well #many were more interested in seeing her play than buying but Ember loved that #Scarecrow attempted to attack to “mark territory” as he heard the shop owners were new to Gotham #that didn't work out well for him #ghosts are very territorial #and Skulker has a lot of guns everywhere he goes #Ember is not thrilled with this development #dp x dc #dc x dp #ghost king danny #the bats heard that the store opened but paid no attention to it #apparently they gave small concerts and taught music to anyone #they started paying attention after the rogues started attacking the music store #and many new weapons began to be described #Skulker loves to show off #Jason has no problem with the store because they don't attack anyone who doesn't attack them #though he's a bit biased after hearing that the Joker was left in the hospital #his family doesn't think the same #Danny just wants a vacation #Is it too much to ask the ghosts not to look for trouble where he can't protect them immediately?#he is clearly frustrated that they didn't go unnoticed #but he's totally on Ember's side anyway

every now and then i get folks asking me "puff do you have any opinions on hazbin hotel"

and i know why they're asking because if there's any fandom that puts LO to shame, it's hazbin hotel / helluva boss and surely i must have some Very Strong Opinions(tm) about the show

but i seriously have never watched a single episode of that show and despite all the controversy and drama i've seen come from the discussion of both the show and its creator, the only thing that really bugs me out of the blue when i'm reminded HH exists are those exclusive playbills that people pre-ordered months ago and still haven't arrived

that is it, that is literally the extent of my engagement with the HH fandom, there will be no further questions about what i think regarding HH because i literally have no idea, they are best asked to whoever comes close to being the generic-puff equivalent of the HH fandom

#i'm not even gonna use the HH tags here because i don't want to invite the ire of anyone from that fandom #that's not an insult or anything i'm just not at all interested in the show so i'm subsequently not interested in the extended discourse #this is just me admitting that every couple months i remember the playbill thing #and then i google “hazbin hotel playbills” to see if the playbill saga has concluded #it apparently still hasn't and the longer it goes on the funnier it gets #but i'm also not anyone with money and wasted time on the line so i don't want to be a dick about it lmao #like this is a very sucky situation and i'm sorry to those who are involved in it #this is very similar to the Fallout76 rum bottle debacle #where the developers promised a Fallout-brand bottle of rum that was clearly going to be made of glass #and then when people finally got it it was just a bottle of shitty rum stored inside a cheap plastic shell case #i hope the wait is worth it for ppl who pre-ordered the playbill but also who the fuck keeps fans waiting MONTHS for a PAMPHLET ??? 😆#it's so funny i'm sorry lmaooo

okay so as a gen 5 stan who does adore the story in bw and bw2, and now that gen 5 has experienced both a vicious hatedom that wouldnt hear a single positive thing about the games, and now a super protective fandom that insists they were perfect and had zero flaws... can we admit now that the bw1 story at least was. a little mid.

#just a little. just a little.#i am saying this as someone who adores it and loves the characters a lot #...... but good god team plasma kinda sucks ass as an evil organization #bw2 is sorta better about them with the split factions but in the first game theyre so obnoxious and come across as strawmen #the game talks about how the world is nuanced and not black and white and its not good to take extreme sides #but then. it sorta does that with the protagonists? by refusing to talk about abused pokemon that werent hurt by team plasma?#obviously they are wrong. the game hammers it in with a mallet. but is it really nuanced if our stance is ''ha ha thats silly''#and yeah groups like plasma exist irl but like. as someone who cares abt animal rights and stuff a lot. i feel like they fumbled it here #the answer shouldnt have been ''well ig some pokemon get hurt. we wont talk about them though. watch the grunt kick a munna''#it shouldve been about animal welfare. like maybe instead of becoming assistant professor; bianca couldve become a nurse joy #or she couldve joined some organization that rescues and rehabilitates pokemon from abusive trainers. maybe the reformed plasma from bw2 #and before someone goes ''erm its a kids game they cant do that :/ thats too complicated'' first of all- the anime showed a malnourished te #tepig #kids can handle a bit of text next to a skittish lillipup thats like ''its scared of humans'' or something and its being cared for by someo #someone''#plus the side games were tackling much heavier shit at this point #also again they were apparently fine with a grunt kicking a munna and bragging about how he loves doing that so.#like even as a kid i felt like that scene was really over the top and stupid #team plasma feels less like an attempt to do commentary on harmful animal rights ideas that lead to ecofascism and dont care abt the animal #true needs #and more like gamefreak read a lot of obnoxious critical pokemon posts like ''lmao training is like dogfighting'' and ''this promotes anima #abuse!'' and just made a strawman out of those people. and like i agree thats all stupid but it sorta hurts the message of the game #that the world is very nuanced and taking extremes is bad and reductive.#and this isnt getting into poor story and gameplay integration and other stuff like underutilized characters (you know exactly who i mean)#idk. again i still adore the story and have a huge soft spot for it. but i think the only reason people say its perfect is out of defensive #defensiveness and not having engaged with a ton of video game stories. and pokemon stories not being fantastic in general #like i think pla is better put together story wise than this game and its got less going on than this #echoed voice

Idk I might be a prude or old fashioned, but I just think it’s wildly inappropriate to ask two girls you just met in line outside a concert venue, one of whom is with her father, if they would rather have a guy with a tiny penis but was funny and treated them right, or a guy with a monster cock who treated them like shit. Different anon here- I’m generally ok with mpreg existing. But the sheer volume of it in this fandom is pretty weird. Especially considering the source material… one of the great things about the unholy family (to me) is that it’s this family unit without the necessity for sexual reproduction. It’s so interesting because they all had lives outside of each other at some point so it’s part found family, part queer and yet biological parents. I think that’s one of the things I first loved about the 1994 movie and it’s a shame that aspect is overlooked

I'm very good at scrolling, haha) but there have literally been times I've opened ao3 and have counted five or six fics on the front page of updated works that are mpreg which feels really disproportionate to the amount of fic that actually gets posted in this fandom?

I - - mmm, kind of wonder a little if its tied to some of this gender essentialist stuff that's coming up more and more both in this fandom, and in social media generally? There feels like there's this real desire to shoehorn them into a quote-unquote 'traditional nuclear family dynamic' which really feels like it's the antithesis of the show. Like you said, the fact that they've all had lives outside of each other is, and the fact that as a family they are both one found and made is, I feel, pretty crucial not just to their interpersonal dynamics, but also to each individual character?

Episode written precisely for my personal liking #Too bad no Atsushi then it would have been perfect (╥﹏╥) At least we got his voice in the episdoe preview #Alright I **LOVE** Mitchell. This is not the space to talk about it properly but I just really like how flawed she is‚#but also in a way that results funny and endearing. And I love love love how much she cares about her family and is loyal to it!!!#It makes her so noble and virtuous. I know she has so little screentime but really the way she's so harsh and in apparence self-absorbed–#But in reality so kind and altruistic... The way her hearsh ways are implied to be only a consequence of a life of struggles and her will–#to save her family's name through a noble behavior and appearance too... It makes her so complex and multilayered imo #AND just how her innate tendency to defend people spans out of her family too!!!!#In my interpretation she did NOT care for Hawthorne or like him. But she still gave her life for him because she just instinctively–#protects the people around her. I don't have any strong feelings for haw/mitch but like how to blame Hawthorne I would have–#fallen for her right that istant too.#Now to Akutagawa. I never bought a wedding video.

I didn’t think it was worth it- we had a good photographer and I figured I’d never really watch it, so we didn’t bother.

But occasionally I remember bits of things I wish I could go back and watch: ceremony music, speeches, little moments as the details creep into time (coming up on 15 years of marriage this year, believe it or not).

Or today, listening to a very old and very random playlist, remembering when I sprained my knee dancing to Crank That Soulja Boy because somebody stepped on my goddamn train-

#destiel was a hellish 12 years (and after apparently) tortuous social experiment #nick and jess were a slowburn that the writers didn't always do great with #they got together in s3 and promptly broke up in s3 (for a really stupid reason)#and nandermo got the absolute high of the end of season 3 before Guillermo got shipped off #which i'm not saying its because they don't know what to do if they get together. but i'm also not not saying that #and then subsequently its been a hardcore will they won't they that's just kinda. idk #anyway all this being said is my prediction is nandermo goes canon very end of s6 #and the show “ends” but the cast convinces the network to do a final sendoff season thats half as long and kinda sucks #and also doesn't show progession of the ship at all #apollo do NOT interact #this turned into me being salty about Nick and Jess im sorry #wwdits spoilers #wwdits
