I feel like people misinterpret 03 Raph and Mikey like Raph isn’t just the angry dumb brute and Mikey isn’t just the clown.

oh yeah, 100%, and with 03 which has so many great character-centered episodes too!!!

It suprises me how many ppl reduce characters - especially when they dont reduce all characters equally but say reduce one to big the other up (does that make sense? Like i see a lot of people love Donnie so they gotta bash Raph or vice versa for some reason, not just with 03 but with all the itterations rlly)

I like how 03!Raph has clear flaws, sure, but he works hard on them, especially his anger issues where he kinda would be justified for blowing up and getting angry with how many of the issues they go through escalate to life-threatning situations, but he always does really well in keeping a cool head. Overall there are so many points where he is thoughtful, he's such a sweet person

doesnt 03!raph actively chose to flee rather than fight humans at some points? like he could have fought and won but he didn't want to hurt humans who are effectively defensless against him. Raph is also really good with kids and of course Mrs Morrison - who could forget - like there are several episodes centering on how gentle he is with the civillians he interacts with.

i love so much how 03!Mikey is so chaotic and sometime rlly mean, like he has a lot of lines that are just kinda mean despite how thoughtful he is sometimes, which just shows me his immaturety, which i love to see in a canonically teenage character, cause the 03 turtles are so mature most of the time sometimes u forget theyre 15.

He enjoys his pranks, which is a trademark for Mikeys rlly, and he likes to annoy his brothers like any sibling would, but also, I think from a writer's perspective, you kinda need a character like Mikey in the group to lighten up the show - without Mikey there to brighten the mood, the sense of humour isnt a sign of immatureyu but an essential part of balancing the relationships between the siblings - their tendencies to argue and be too serious. Mikey makes the bad days bareable for his brothers, and that along with his being rather astute at reading his siblings (like his comments about Leo working hard and being responsible so the rest of them dont have to be), i think that the brothers very much value Mikey's humour.

03!Mikey is also rlly forgiving and understanding of a lot of situations, for example in season 1 when Raph nearly hit him way too hard out of anger, Mikey is just worried for Raph not angry at all that he nearly got hurt - i like to attribute that a lot to the amount of trust Mikey has in his bros to not hurt him as well as how Mikey understands that everyone has their own perspective to things - like if someone shoves into u on the street while some people might be annoyed that the person didn't say sorry, Mikey would probs shrug it off as that person being in a rush or just having a bad day - which speaks miles to his emotional maturity.

Also insert here: one of Raph's happiest memories being shoving Mikey's head into his birthday cake (from that one brainwashing episode)

03 Splinter did so well raising all his kids - Raph and Mikey included, theyre all just such lovely ppl and so mature for their age.

if i were gonna describe mikey and raph in one word, it would be "passionate" for Raph and "carefree" for Mikey.

• Out of every couple these two are the most likely to get married and have kids

• They would have an insane amount of kids. Like they’d be on the news for how many kids they have. Poor Aoi

• Buuuut she’s just as eager to have a house full of kids as Akane is. She gives them flower names and they probably have at least one Harry Potter ass kid who’s named smth like “Teru Nene Aoi.” She doesn’t have to be as strict with them bcuz Akane takes over most of the parenting, trust tho she’s still very involved in her kids’ lives. She probably has a binder to keep track of what’s going on with each of them

• I mentioned before that I see Aoi becoming a florist in the future, I see Akane becoming a therapist. He uses a bunch of psychology tricks to parent their kids, but he has a habit of using too many technical terms when he gives advice. “No honey, you just need to develop an internal locus of control.” The kids and Aoi are both very tired of it. He would absolutely love being a dad tho and be the biggest family guy ever

• They have a sign on their front porch that says smth like “Home of Aoi Aoi Aoi Aoi Aoi Aoi Aoi Aoi Aoi Aoi Aoi Aoi Aoi Aoi & Aoi❤️”

• Their home life is very chaotic and stressful at times but it’s built on so much love and dedication. Akane and Aoi are both living their dream lives (likely with a lot of nannies) (or with Akane quitting his job to be a househusband after him and Aoi rock-paper-scissored over who got to do it) (Aoi didn’t speak to him for a week after he won)

Natsuteru

• Oh wow it is hard for me to imagine them as parents

• I say they would have two sons (I’m loosely basing this off a series one of my moots @/teru.kisser made on TikTok)

• No matter who he’s with, Teru is gonna be a helicopter. His parental instincts come before anything else in his life so he fully dedicates himself to the kids. He either has some cool ass job like a private investigator or he’s a stay at home dad, no in between (no he’s not an exorcist in this I’m letting him be happy). He dotes on the kids all the time but can be overly strict in order to keep them safe

• Natsuhiko tries to be the fun dad but he’s so aloof that the kids don’t know much about him. Some kind of super secretive job. His and Teru’s parenting styles tend to conflict so they essentially parent separately. They argue a lot bcuz of their differences but they manage to make it work because both of them are deeply in love with each other. Their kids frequently question how they ended up together

• They take the boys to amusement parks a lot

• While the household can be a bit tense and they could definitely use some family counseling, they all love each other a lot. None of them know how to express it bcuz they’re all so secretive in their own ways but they care about each other more than anything. It’s a weird life but a charming one

Kounene

• Old married couple Kounene save me…old married couple Kounene…save me old married couple Kounene

• Two sons and a daughter. That’s the vibe I’m getting

• Kou has some deep-seated issues he’s unwilling to address but he makes up for it by loving his wife and kids Gomez Addams style. Mans is fully devoted to his family and he makes sure to tell them that every day. I might let him go the exorcist route bcuz I want to see him suffer a lot little. He’s there at every sports game his kids have yelling at the ref. He makes Nene breakfast in bed every morning. One thing abt Kou is he’s gonna spoil the ppl he loves

• Writer!Nene is still a thing in this universe, she has her own trauma and writes to make sense of it. She’s a bit better with the kids because when they need her help, she focuses more on understanding why they’re upset as opposed to Kou who solely focuses on solving all their problems. She has a hard time keeping up with all their extracurricular activities but she supports them nonetheless

• All of Kou and Nene’s friends admire them for being high school sweethearts

• They’re a stereotypical sitcom family. Corny life lessons at the end of each day. The kids get into shenanigans. They probably have a dog too, a golden retriever. It’s a whole bit

Single Dad Lemon

• I love this one, we need more single parent rep

• I’m gonna say he has a son

• I really want to go with some tropey story of how he was living a rough lifestyle and found a troubled kid that he had to look out for and eventually he had to fix up his life to adopt the kid bcuz they changed each other’s lives but would that be too corny?? Maybe he just up and decided he wanted to be a dad someday. Maybe his baby mama left him. You decide

• He would be one of those dads that acts like an older brother at times but in a good way. Instead of rising to his rebellious son’s bait, he meets him halfway, confronting him abt his bs without putting up with it. One of those parents you can swear around but he will throw in a half-hearted “Language.” It’s rocky at first but they end up super close, a rare instance of finding a parent who is genuinely your best friend

• Their house is a mess but it’s a home <3 Similar to the Kounene family they’d probably have a sitcom type lifestyle, the Boy Meets World to Kounene’s Full House. The kid throws a party while Lemon is a way and they have to have a heart-to-heart about it. Cue the tears

•SKIPPING BORING DETAILS SO WE CAN ACTUALLY GET THE ON THE ROADTRIP, but they r STACKED w literally just snacks, no actual food, just chips, candy, juice and some water, lord help these two, they gonna crash on the highway🤦🏽‍♀️

•wether its a camcorder or just a regular ole camera, ponys documenting this, he also has a journal to write down his thoughts and draw, hes a man of many talents

•for every stop, when he can, he calls darry to let him know hes alive, even sends over post cards from the different places he’s at, stocks up on small lil knickknacks too!!curly also called to check in w tim and angela and pony made him send over letters too (curly HATESSSS writing letters)

•would it REALLY b papercut if i didnt say that one of em got them lost??? curly def cant read a map for shit and fucked up while pony was driving, that argument had ppl in other cars looking over

•they would take turns on who was driving but honestly just never let curly behind the wheel, be nearly missed an exit and pretty much drifted in the highway, curly would do WONDERS in a racing game, he did a “emergency” stop and almost catapulted pony out his seat when he was sleeping, hes such a lil asshole

•sometimes tho, they would just pull over completley and get in the back seat just to sleep, they had a blanket and like one pillow but its ok the one of em would just lay on the other, they had some pretty nice talks in there and pony wrote about it in his journal

•when they get to the country side, i could see pony having one of those nature books and finding what he could just to cross em off, hes a nerd like that, curly was way too fascinated by the insects to rlly make fun of him for too long

•took some good nature pics too, some silly ones as well, curly took some too!!

•how have i gone this long without mentioning that curly would def b the one blasting music, hes not the passenger princess, hes the passenger pain in the ass (pony doesnt wanna admit but video evidence proves other wise, he was singing too)

•pony is a pretty good driver i aint gonna lie, but maybe a lil too good, his eyes will NOT be leaving that road, curlys just gotta feed pony himself from the passenger

•they didnt pack enough clothes, they were def clothes shopping as they went, whoever car they took is a MESS by now

•at some point pony got sunburnt and curly was laughing at him bc it wasnt even all over his body, the sunburn just covered parts that his clothes didnt cover, had to make a stop at a gas station for sunscreen and aloe vera (if we r assuming curly packed enough money)

•they dont rlly go home for a while, they got too homesick

no worries, i’ve talked abt this before but it never hurts to explain (plus it can be hard to find stuff in my asks tag hagsjdhsj)

the state of chat in hels is something i’m afraid i haven’t done the best job portraying in the fics, for the sake of not taking up unnecessary space. but basically, hels is such a large and highly-populated world that even tho no one really uses chat to actually TALK, it’s always bumping with messages: achievements, join messages, and frequent deaths (there are no ‘leave’ messages when players exit thru a portal tho bc hels has that disabled). most players have their comm notifs set to whispers only (tho atlas has set his to notify join messages too). cuz in this fictional setting, chat exists only on a communicator rather than popping up in the corner of a player’s vision; they’d have to be actively looking at their comm to see it.

so realistically, most hels players wouldn’t notice repeated join messages like that (ofc, the guys in our story have very specific reasons to pay attention to that sort of thing). and there have been rare instances where a group of kids spawned in all at once, leading to an influx of join messages like that (prob not QUITE as many tho), so ppl would prob make that assumption in this case. now, i’m sure there were some who noticed and were curious enough to check out spawn, only to be confused when it was empty, but in terms of large-scale effects that would have on the world… unclear.

even if there were players who realized what was going on and suspected that portals were involved, the somewhat isolated nature of the many communities within hels (and the hostile nature of its players) would make it difficult for that information to spread very far, at least not in a timely manner. and lots of hels residents are too busy living their own chaotic lives to take notice of odd things in chat like this, so as of right now, it’s just business as usual.

all of the gang works for valka's dragon sanctuary!! valka in my au is more like valhallarama from the books in that she's moreso absent for long periods of time & when she's there she's relatively detached but!! hiccup takes over the sanctuary (at like. age 15 but shhhh. valka & stoick still pay for everything but hiccup runs it rlly)

so from like, 15 to 17 the gang are learning abt dragons & begin education programs to help ppl understand dragons better!!! the dragon academy does become a thing!!!! after they graduate high school tho (yes this is all while they're juggling high school!!!) they all start kinda going separate ways (and obv eventually come back together full time but!!! it's uncertain for a while!!)

hiccup, astrid, fishlegs, & the twins get into the same university.

snotlout doesn't, he gets denied (it's a whole Thing™️ for the gang)

however they all pursue different things

hiccup, as like, predictable as this is, pursues engineering & tries to get as many certifications as possible. he's doing AS MUCH as he can, as hands on as he can. he wants to learn to be able to help make the world a better place for toothless (and all dragons!!) once he graduates he's back at the santuary full time & helps design new parts as they expand & get bigger! also new stuff for dragon care & just!! yeah!!!

in his free time, hiccup has a motorcycle he rebuilt from the ground up, loves zipping around town, he also draws, & ofc spending as much time with toothless as he can (maybe sneaking toothless out of the sanctuary.... a lot)

fishlegs goes into environmental science with minors in plant pathology & geology!!! this also ties back into dragons & their care through their environments best suited for them as well as dealing with climate change & stuff!!!! he applies what he learns to the berk sanctuary!!! he also goes back to the academy but he also works at the berk public library part time!!

fishlegs also collects so so much music, so many records, tapes, cds, 8tracks, u name it!!! he also has a rock collection ofc!!! he also spends as much time with meatlug as possible (maybe sneaks her out)!! he also gardens!! & does yoga on saturdays with astrid!!!!

astrid gets a double major of kinesiology & nutrition!!! this is more human oriented obv HOWEVER she's constantly trying to remind everyone around her to take better care of themselves for the love of everything!!! although she still is able to apply what she learns to dragon training!! u can not move the ways dragons do but motor skills are still important as well as eating right!!!! either way, dragons gotta learn this stuff to but in their own way!! she graduates & goes back to the sanctuary & helps with that!!

astrid does axe throwing in my modern au. she goes & practices often to blow off steam. also a track & field person FOR SURE!! like, discus throwing, hammer throwing, the godt damn works!! she's a weight lifter too!! i need astrid to be buff so bad!!! also yoga with fishlegs on saturdays!! she wouldn't call it "sneaking" but she does like to take stormfly out & about :)

ruffnut is pre-med and does go into veterinary school. she stays in school the longest out of the gang which shocks EVERYONE but it's what sounded interesting & it gave her a challenge. plus working at the sanctuary, u end up caring for a lot of sick & injured dragons. fishlegs helps her BUT she becomes The Medical Expert™️ & even uses the sanctuary for her dissertation & specializes in dragon veterinary medicine!!!

as for hobbies, ruff is still a chaotic being who loves destruction & explosions. she & tuff do mythbuster type shit!! she also is very much into theater!! she sometimes participates in local theater & did a performance or two in college!! i also think she longboards!! loves sneaking barf and belch out of the sanctuary!!

tuffnut gets his degree in theatre with a minor in chemistry!! the minor was more of an accident. he took the classes bc he thought they were interesting & ended up getting enough credit for the minor!! after he graduates he works at a few local theaters part time to help with either cast or crew (he acts but also sometimes he will do costuming, stage production, etc!!) but he also goes back to the sanctuary after he graduates!!

tuff's hobbies overlap with ruff's in that they do mythbuster type shit LOL!! but also he's in a little sewing club with snotlout!! he also longboards with ruff!! AND ofc, he raises chickens on the side :) loooves getting barf and belch out of the sanctuary.

snotlout. snotlout, snotlout, snotlout. this boy's got it kinda rough. he gets denied from the university everyone else goes to & it hits him hard, so he keeps working at the sanctuary full time while going to community college & trying out classes that interest him, but he feels lost. he finds himself doing a lot of music oriented classes & just gets a two year degree in music. later he'll go on to be a high school band & choir director of all things but that's down the line :) before then while working at the sanctuary he works part time at a local biker bar (once he's old enough)

snotlout's hobbies are a bit of a mish mash. he plays guitar, has a harley davidson motorcycle (goes riding with hiccup!!), is in the sewing club with tuff (has an etsy store on the side shhh), & loves sneaking hookfang out of the sanctuary!! also loves american football & sometimes does hammer throwing with astrid.

do they all have one big mutual thing they all share & do besides sneaking their dragons out of the sanctuary? yes. yes they do. they have a long running dungeons & dragons game & they also love multiplayer video games in ANY capacity. any way to be competitive!!!!!!! minecraft, smash brothers, mariokart, marioparty, runescape, call of duty, halo, ANYTHING they can get their hands on, old and new.

the aarons!! surprise they're gay. obviously. same situation as tae young and robaire with the marriage and living together and whatnot.

z is not a huge fan of the celebrity life. he stays away from social media and rarely makes appearances on things like tv shows or sponsor deals etc. but he still does cause people love him. also his locs are super long now, a bit past his shoulders

T of course is the opposite. still chaotic and way too extroverted. living his best social media influencer life. he's friendly with so many celebrities in different scenes. whenever he posts z on his socials, people go crazy for that rare sighting. aaron t is one of the celebrities that does anything and everything. appearances on the most random shows/movies, going to every event, interviewing other celebs, etc. like snoop dogg does.

as for music, neither of them would have a big solo career. z has an unreleased solo album that ppl beg him to release every day. but of course he doesn't.

@kissohee - its so hard to describe her with just three words! but i would say chaotic, lovable, and genuine. i never feel stress when talking to her and we've grown comfortable with one another quite quickly. i think we just have had this connection from the beginning and she just made me so so comfortable. she's also so loveable like im gonna hold her hand fr she's so cute. and she's so genuine, i always feel that she means everything that she says and it makes me even more comfy with her. she's also just like me we're both so random and we both talk a lot so its the perfect pace for me. the convos are always so fast like idk if ppl would be able to keep up with us and how much we switch topics LMAO but yeah! i hope that we just get closer and closer in the future and that she's always happy <3 (also open-minded would be a rlly good one for her but only her and i know why and that's the way its gonna stay LMAO)

@bubblegyu00 - energetic, humorous, and chatty,, our convos are extremely fast paced and go on for the entire day. i'm always laughing at smth or we're always losing it over smth someone did (usually a zb1 member or nicho tbh). she's energetic and keeps up with my pace and i do the same with hers. she also makes me laugh which is why i said she's humorous. we're always going on and on abt the same 3 things yet we never get tired of it like its gonna eat every single time PLS. @xhdream - we've started to talk in the dms now and dinna's such a sweet girlie :(. i would describe her as easy-going, charming, and friendly. dinna's sooo so cute and always so sweet to me and she has been since the beginning. talking to her has been so fun so far cuz she's very approachable and she engages in the conversation so so much. our time difference is very big so we have to catch each other at a specific time but it's worth it everytime. there's just something about her that's so fun and so kind and that's why i said she's charming. her and her blog just have this good and sweet energy that i really really enjoy <3

the teeniest vent bc I know other people are like this too: I break SO many things and I’m so clumsy n forgetful and I know it’s frustrating for other people but I honestly have no control over it!! And I don’t think ppl realize it’s just as frustrating for me as it is for them, like I’m aware that I should be a functional human being and I’m just not. ive been pushing the 'stay here to help jumin feel more calm' but. i do also need to prioritize my own well being and my well being is not happy here rn 😭 (on a serious note though while its important to be there for your partner, its NOT a good thing to give everything to make sure your partners okay, because y'all are equals and as you help them stand they need to help you stand too or you'll collapse under all that and it really wont be a good time. im telling you its very draining. and why i promote the idea of get your shit together before you get with someone because there comes a point where you can be too dependent on your partner which isnt good for you or for them [and they can feel hesitant to express their feelings because they dont want to hurt you, or hesitant to do anything too stressful because theyre like that support pillar for them, and they dont want to do anything that causes otherwise because they dont want their partner to get hurt. it can also mean they go along with what the other wants even if they dont really want to because they dont want to hurt them. am i projecting? ithink im projecting. cause like. ive been there. and honestly i think it kind of fucked me up cause there was like a power imbalance in that one was significantly more fragile and vulnerable then the other, which made me feel like i should be going along with it because i didnt want them to be hurt when they didnt have anyone else they could rely on but me. [i tried to get them to make more friends cause relying on a single person is very unhealthy but no dice] but that also meant that they didnt respect my boundaries or respect me when i say no and instead just gave off excuses to make me change my mind or made me feel like i had to do what they wanted or theyd deliberately hurt themself. so.. it was a lot. anyway it really fucked me up cause i felt like i was in the wrong for not going along with it. blah blah blah. we split. i genuinely have no idea if it was true or not but they'd started saying things to make me feel bad and just not a fun time at all. they were probably in a really dark time in their life but im gonna be honest. i dont know in what scenario its okay to go 'im gonna kermit sewer slide if you dont [blah blah blah]'. so yknow. and this is not really the same but it still feels the same in walking all over boundaries and lines and is especially why i do not like this character a bit. yay trauma.])

i might actually get a bad ending because i. really dont like this.

today in i think too much about destiny lore, here's my current belief re the unveiling, the veil, the witness & the darkness:

the truth in the darkness... according to the witness

i haven't seen many people talking about the "finding truth in the darkness" aspect of the cutscene but it's one of the most fascinating to me. what does that even mean? if we take the veil as the ~window into the mind and memory of the universe~, does this mean the witness well, witnessed the universe from the beginning?

i think so, based on one of ahsa's lines ("glimpse beyond... to the beginning"). so, assuming the witness got a glimpse of how the universe came into the existence, i think the unveiling is the witness' interpretation of said event. there's two ways of thinking about this: this is really the witness passing on the words of the darkness/winnower as it received it (press x to doubt) or it is a very biased interpretation of what it saw in the darkness.

i think the latter is more likely bc of the hints we have that the darkness by itself isn't malicious or bad (the witness giving "the darkness a wicked shape" etc etc). the witness was desperate for a purpose, one that the traveler wouldn't give. i think that, whatever it was that it saw when it communed with the darkness/veil, said desperation was enough to completely misrepresent it so it could make itself the winnower it thought the universe needed. in a way, the witness made itself into the first knife bc it believe the first knife was necessary. i don't believe the clash between light and dark (or gardener & winnower) ever happened the way it is depicted in the unveiling, with the gardener wanting to break the rules and the winnower going "hell no". i think the witness interpreted it in that way so it could give itself the purpose it craved so badly.

(also, an interesting idea is that the witness saw the future as well when it communed with the veil, and the unveiling is depicting the future in a way. sure it talks about it happening before time yadda yadda, but what if 1. the gardener breaking the rules = the traveler uplifting the witness' people, 2. the winnower going hell no = the darkness/veil communing with the witness' people & making the witness' ppl "realize" the light is too chaotic & 3. the winnower discovering the first knife = the witness turning on the traveler when it refused to be merged with the veil, which set off the witness down a path of quite literally winnowing the universe for eons to come? not very likely imo (especially with how the unveiling is written) but it popped up in my head and now i'm making it everyone else's problem).

so the truth in the darkness according to the witness is that the light is breaking the rules/is too chaotic/has no reason or purpose. its truth is the final shape.

but, if we are taking the second option here and this is all in the witness' head, what is the real truth in the darkness?

the truth in the darkness... despite the witness

the witness saw the beginning of the universe and somehow came to the conclusion that the final shape was not only inevitable but the only truth the universe could have. if we agree that the witness is very much wrong, we are still short of what could have made it believe it isn't. what could it possibly have seen in the beginning of the universe (or the time since) that made it believe the final shape is a thing?

i have no idea lol but i think it's interesting that the traveler was... buried? beneath the sands of the witness' world. it apparently didn't garden around the universe before that. the witness might have been the first people the traveler ever uplifted... or at least the first in a long time. it fled when the witness tried to link it to the veil, maybe because it didn't want to, you know, remake reality itself based on the nonsense of the witness, but maybe there is another reason as well.

dreams of alpha lupi depict the traveler as very powerful but also very diminished, very afraid and not whole. it has this interesting line:

"And it is your children you must turn to now, in time of need."

which kinda reflects something ikora says in the last entry to this season's lore book, purpose:

"It never came to us to uplift us. It came to us for help."

which, of course, probably means help against the witness. but i think there is a possibility that it means the witness and something more. as far as we know, the traveler was already diminished when the witness found it. in fact, the traveler depicted in dreams of alpha lupi doesn't even seem to remember much at all about itself or what came before. it's been running and it's desperate. it remembers being attacked (with a "knife"... which just complicates things even more) and it remembers being more but that's it.

so what caused the traveler to be diminished before it met the witness? before lightfall the witness never managed to actually hurt the traveler in any way (as far as the cutscene implies). the traveler noped out of there before it could make the link. so it was hurt before that. before it somehow ended up buried beneath the sands of some alien world.

so:

who or what hurt the traveler so badly?

how did it get there?

why is the veil in outer space while the traveler is buried? is this a case of them spawning into the universe and things growing around them? i find it very unlikely tbh

would the traveler be okay with reuniting* with the veil if it wasn't for the witness' bonkers reasoning to do so?

one option is the veil, or whatever lies beyond the veil. maybe the darkness is bad after all. but i don't think so. it would be weird from a narrative perspective to go from darkness bad to darkness neutral to darkness bad yet again. but it is an option i guess.

another option is... something else. a force that isn't light or dark. the vex? the aphelion, or whatever the aphelion came from/is part of? who knows!

though why hasn't this thing come back to finish the job is a question i can't even begin to answer.

how did it get there?

maybe it crash landed there after being wounded? or was it hiding there already?

which makes me wonder if the veil is wounded in the same way (assuming it wasn't the veil who hurt the traveler, of course). the veil doesn't seem to be mobile like the traveler is, and whatever free will it has can't be exactly measured right now... which is a bit similar to the confused, diminished state of the traveler tbh.

why is the veil in outer space while the traveler is buried?

is this a case of the veil being the baddie here and so it had no reason to do anything but chill in outer space? or were they both set adrift after both were wounded?

*reuniting under an asterisk here because i'm not sure we can take ahsa's (the witness'?) word that this is a reunion and not first contact.

i guess it depends on whether the veil was the one that hurt the traveler or not. maybe they were one once and that's why both are possibly diminished. but maybe they were meant as independent beings who should never be linked. again, who knows.

the darkness is bad.

honestly this all could be much simpler. maybe the darkness is bad, at least in the sense of the unveiling, where it wants the final shape just like the witness does. maybe the witness communing with the veil is akin to eve listening to the snake in the garden. this all could be happening bc the veil convinced the witness that the traveler is a problem bc the veil is the winnower and the winnower wants its flower game left alone.

but the traveler wasn't gardening before the witness (apparently) so it wasn't like it was influencing the flower game that much. idk.

imo, i find the idea of something other than the witness being the reason the traveler is weaker now fascinating. it does run the risk of falling into the "bigger bad" trope, but i guess it depends on how it is executed. the witness once being mortal opened the gates to there being stuff out there who was never mortal and is much more primordial/ancient than the witness (maybe contemporary to the traveler or even older, who tf knows). it also could be a nice hook for a post light & dark saga - dealing with whatever hurt the light and maybe the darkness, for example.

idk. every time i think i understand where this game is going i find some older piece of lore that changes everything so. tldr: im still confusion?

okay ive got fantasy high on the brain so here's a little fantasy high td au that i will never write. spoilers for like. all of it that's been released so far.

the bad kids:

right off the bat, sammy and amy as adaine and aelwyn. don't have much to say on this besides i think they fit pretty well. amy would have to be a bit smarter for aelwyn's place in the story but other than that i think they fit pretty well. sammy as a wizard with anxiety but who also desperately wants to fuck up the ppl who wrong her once she gets treatment for that anxiety. also i like to think in this au that amy would have a redemption arc and she and sammy could learn how to be somewhat functional sisters.

lightning as fabian. they are both egotistical athletes with a ridiculous amount of pressure from their shitty parents and i would love lightning to have an arc where he makes friends and learns to overcome toxic masculinity

dj as gorgug! he has the capacity to rage but he doesn't want to unless its necessary which disappoints people who expect someone as big as him to be a fighter. but he just wants to give tin flowers to his friends! maybe his love for cooking turns into a love for creating and that's how he becomes an artificer. he would definitely make little mechanical animal friends. also that makes his moms wilma and digby

hear me out. priya as kristen. big worshipper of helio thanks to her parents/being his chosen one but as she goes through the world without that strong of an influence she realizes how wrong they are and breaks away from that mentality. a bit of a chaotic being as she goes through life trying to find structure again but dedicated to her friends and whatever deity she's worshiping at the time

kitty as fig. she loves her friends so so much. she wants to try so many different things. she has issues with an authoritative female figure in her life (emma/sandra lynn). i think she could rock the punk/devil aesthetic while still being so friendly and silly.

i had such a hard time figuring out who would be riz but i'm gonna say shawn. they're both conspiracy theorists who probably drink way too much coffee and get way too little sleep. i can see shawn's obsession to surviving the zombie apocalypse be turned into an obsession with solving mysteries in this world. i think it'd be funny if that made sanders sklonda because she already sorta has tired single mom trying her best energy and is (unfortunately) a cop

✥ childe - sophomore, majors in sociology, met scara in high school. a lot of people has a crush on him. is not fazed by scara’s rude behaviour. talks to scara when he thinks he’s being too harsh to other ppl. kinda puts scara in check when he thinks he’s going too far. he knows a lot of ppl and has been to a lot of parties. overall, has a laid back but also playful personality.

✥ xiao - junior, majors in political science, scara considers him an ally. both of them know exactly how each other feels, since both of them are not fond of crowds. scara sometimes asks xiao for advice. sometimes scara vents to xiao; xiao doesn’t mind but he’s no good at comforting ppl so sometimes he asks aether for guidance. xiao texts scara things like “there’s too many people here, i wanna go home,” “i don’t wanna be here,” and “why am i here.”

✥ aether - sophomore, majors in psychology, older than lumine by a minute. he always pulls the “i’m older than u” card whenever he and his sister have an argument. aroace, but he says the foulest things at times that sometimes you forget he’s ace. he’s the right amount of chaotic and collected. treats you like a sister. he’s considered an emo bcs his favourite group in project sekai is nightcord 25:00 and his favourite character is rui and mizuki.

✥ kazuha - sophomore, english literature major, also the right amount of chaotic and collected. he’s chaotic in his own way, so whenever he’s goofing around only those who actually know him will tell the difference. he’s a sap and a hopeless romantic. sometimes he acts so hyper that a lot of people think he’s high, maybe he is maybe he’s not. sometimes has good love advice, not that his friends has asked for it.

Coco Jones' "Here We Go (Uh Huh)" is lush and spectacular R&B track. It has drama without losing its sleek touch and feels like an instant classic for anyone Going Through It.

"Chained Up" Snow Strippers is great, nostalgic track that samples Skrillex--all of the joys of listening to an AMV-ified Skrillex without the actual Skrillex.

Queen Bee's "Headless Angel" is a hard left turn from the previous track! Experimental and constantly switching things up, this Japanese track commands attention and might be more of an acquired taste.

"Limosina" 1tbsp. Vibrant and bouncy, this is a club track with a twist.

"Diorama" Yves. Ethereal and digital, this song slides against you and leaves a trail of glitter and sweat. Kpop for those who feel too pretentious for it.

"Armageddon" Aespa. An inverse of this, if you are used to Kpop Bullshit.. this is a track for you. Chaotic and yet...

Normani's "Candy Paint" is a work out anthem for the sluts out there. Not exceptional but catchy as hell. Will say, the pre-release version is better than the official version, cause it had some an instrumental element that invoked Ginuwine's "Pony" that they stripped out?? Still fun.

"Animetal" Within Destruction. Kinda what it says on the tin--metal that feels a bit anime.

"Paris, Tal Vez?" Perdido" and "No Me Molesta" by Alex Anwandter are nostalgic dance tracks with extra layers and fresh twists included. They're not TOO similar but if you like Kavinsky or some of the newer Justice stuff, please this entire album a chance

"Big Wigs" Forest Claudette. Bright vocals, horns, and a beat that twirls you around. This song is warm, even if the lyrics aren't necessarily.

Coheed and Cambria's "The Joke" isn't my fave by them but if you think this list is too dance-y, this is a song that think it's very serious and hard. Is it actually? Well... you judge

"The Sea" Yangbans. Just chill as hell.

"Picor" French Braids & Pahua. Tropical meets disco.

"Holy Touch" Suzy Clue. For the Metric girlies who wanted the drums to go off a bit more.

I listened to the BMTH album, I understand the appeal but something about it just reminds me of AMV music. Like... Skillet, Thousand Foot Krutch, Meg & Dia. But updated for modern audiences. Not a complaint, I grew up on that. I liked most of the album but I guess "Die4u" and "Limousine" stood out on first listen and "[ost]puss-e" might appeal to ppl who liked the Snow Strippers tracks.

"I, Vibrator" Say Anything. Didn't know this group still existed, anyways... this is like if Say Anything thought they were making a Modest Mouse track. Is it good? IDK. Idk where else to talk about it.

"Endless Summer" Leat'eq. Generic dance track, so you know I have to rep it here.

"Ratatata" by Electric Callboy & Babymetal. This song is 15 hooks in a trench coat. Pure hype and fun with a wee bit of screamy-singing on top.

Not from this month but STILL:

"All the Same" Fat Dog. Makes me think of the instrumental of Engel by Rammstein (who I no longer listen to) with an 80s dark synthwave vibe.

I'm definitely missing many tracks but this month just gave too much! I kinda just added music at random I'm SORRY BUT LISTEN TO RATATATA
